hey mittens! i just wanted to squee about the promo a bit (despite being prob the last one to figure this out lol) bc cas just walking into the bunker like that confirms that he has a key or something and also that there was no warding up! aka dean powered it down so his boyfriend could come back home eeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Eh, I’ve always assumed that if someone has a key, that “depowers” the warding to let them in. Hence why they absolutely did not want to let Abaddon get her hands on it. She could’ve strolled right through the front door.

Like after 8.23 when the bunker went on “magical lockdown” and Kevin couldn’t even get OUT, but Sam and Dean had no problem getting in because using the key on the front door “deactivated” the alarm system.

BUT YES THIS DOES IMPLY THAT CAS HAS HIS OWN KEY.

(just like all the stupid MoL around the world)

(Sam and Dean REALLY need to change the locks on that place I mean REALLY)

But just the fact he DOES have a key means Dean trusts him completely, that he KNOWS it’s his home.

And that also means that Cas has probably had his own key since at least early s11, probably since late s10 (because he was in the bunker in 11.02 when Sam and Dean arrived home). And Dean was entirely unsurprised to find “Cas” there in 11.11.

We’re always talking about how Cas doesn’t feel like the bunker is his home, that he’s truly been offered a place there, that he doesn’t understand that the Winchesters WANT him there… yet he’s had a key to the place all this time…

Seems like a pretty clear sign (or would to a human) that a person’s wanted there. You don’t hand out spare keys to your secret underground magical bunker all willy-nilly, right?

But the ball’s been in Cas’s court for a lot longer than he’s understood. I think it’s only now after 12.09 that he really DOES begin to understand– hence his confession in 12.12.

I often wonder what he feels when he sings old love songs. Does it, just for a moment, bring up a certain memory. A person, a place, a mental image? Especially when it comes to SIAS, maybe because he was such a young thing, my heart just breaks thinking about him singing songs he wrote a girl he loved so much. Presuming on the next tour songs like DIWK, RUMine and Arabella will be on the setlist I wonder if he feels anything?

I often wonder that as well. I’m sure there are some nights when the show’s a blur, and he’s just going through the motions. Like that feeling of spacing out when you’re driving, and all of a sudden you’re at your destination like, “how did I get here?” And you genuinely don’t know. I bet a lot of gigs are like that after awhile. Then other times, I’m sure he’s hit with certain emotions or memories and it must take a lot of power to not focus on them when he’s on stage in front of thousands of people. He wrote some of his most beautiful lyrics when he was under the age of 25 when he was madly in love, and I can’t see how that doesn’t effect him still in some small way. It does break my heart. We didn’t even write them and it guts us. He has to feel something.

I always wondered too about how he felt singing the songs from Suck It and See that were clearly written for Alexa, and dedicating them to Arielle. Or how she felt for that matter. I think I’d be like, “please don’t; those are hers”. And I don’t mean that in a bad way, but it’s like, those are her songs whether they’re together or not. If Alex was better at being a bit more vague at that time, then maybe it wouldn’t matter so much, but it’s too obvious how very much in love he was.

I’m very anxious to see what songs make it to the newer shows, and how he performs them. At the end of the AM era, it didn’t seem like it bothered him to sing any of those songs after he’d split with Arielle, but I wonder if time has done anything to effect how he feels now? With someone new?
