“I remember… he used to play like this by the fire pit out back all the time when we were kids…” Adrian mused quietly, watching Russ play the instrument. “This is nice.”

“I wish he still had that much spare time.” Becca responded.

“I, uh…” he stammered, glancing down at her with a small smile on his face. He laughed quietly. “I really missed this.”

It had to have been the first time she’d seen him smile since the day he came back into their lives, and it made warmed her heart to see it.

Yes, just as he’d said himself, this was nice.

“And just when the hell were you guys gonna’ tell me about this?” Cass huffed.

“Don’t give me that. I’ve been trying to call you all week.” Melissa laughed gently. “It’s not my fault you don’t answer.”

“I was busy working on finals!”

“Too busy to pick up your phone for a few minutes?”

“I-…” Cass stammered, a look of dissatisfied defeat on her face. “I guess I can’t really argue with that.”

“Ah, come on. This is supposed to be a happy night. Can’t we stop bickering and just enjoy everyone’s company?” Russ chuckled, picking up where he left off in his last song, before things were interrupted.

“Don’t let them stop you.” Becca told him. “I’m quite enjoying it.”
