- Green Tea for a conscious mind, magic energy, love
- Fresh Strawberries for passion, sweetness, carefree joy
- Lavender for calm (to avoid the happiness being ‘manic’ as mine often is)
- Basil for prosperity, happiness, peace
- Raw Honey for sweetness, to preserve the longevity of the spell
Mash your strawberries, I used a mortar and pestle, while focusing on your intention. Then combine your ingredients and pour over your boiling water, envisioning pouring your intent into the teapot, and steep, covered, for about 3 minutes. After steeping, pour through a strainer, envisioning straining out any negativity, and enjoy while doing something you love!
Personally, I’m crocheting and watching adventure time!
Things have been crazy lately so I just wanted to take a moment and remind you to love yourself because you are important! No matter who you are or where you come from! Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise!
I decided to make a step by step “How-to Jenny’s Witchy Brew” for Self Love ~ Rose Soy Milk Tea <3
Things you will need:
-Rose Tea: I get mine at 99 Ranch Market but it’s essentially just dried rose hips so if you have rose hips that you can dry out, that will work too! You will want to use 6-8 rose buds, the more you add the stronger the flavor!
-Organic Soy Milk: This can be regular milk or almond milk, I prefer unsweetened organic soy milk. If you decide to use soy make sure it’s organic! Brands such as ‘Silk’ isn’t good, even if they claim it’s organic, for some reason it burns and wont cook right. It’s gotta be the real deal! For this recipe you only need 1 cup.
-Honey: Any kind of organic honey will do, if you have herbal honey that’s even better for adding more florals to your tea! I usually add about 2-3 teaspoons, but feel free to add to taste!
-Cinnamon & Nutmeg: This is optional! I like to add just a pinch of both spices to add a little kick to my tea. If you don’t care for spice try ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract instead!
-Sugar: This is also optional, I like my tea to be a little on the sweet side & since we are using organic unsweetened soy milk it helps to really sweeten it up! I only use barely a ½ teaspoon, but just add to taste!
-Mesh Strainer: For removing the flowers once it’s cooked.
-Your Favorite Mug! Mine is a black mug with my astrological sign gold leafed into it!
Before starting, take a moment to close your eyes, clear your mind, breathe deeply through your nose and slowly release through your mouth (do this a few times). Visualize letting go of any negativity or weight you may be carrying on your shoulders…now…
<3 LET’S GET BREWING! <3
1- Pour soy milk into pot, turn heat on low
2- Add rose tea, gently crumble a couple of the buds
3- Add cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar
4- Add desired amount of honey; while you slowly drizzle it in feel free to draw symbols with it such as hearts or infinity symbols- whatever you feel is right for helping to instill your manifestations of self love into your tea!
5- Stir your brew clockwise! While slowly stirring visualize the self love that this tea will bring you & say some positive affirmations about yourself such as:
“I love the person I am, I am strong & caring, I am creative, I am beautiful inside and out…” say whatever best suits your needs for self love and take a moment to appreciate the wonderful person you are! <3
6- Let your tea brew for approximately 10 minutes on low stirring occasionally to prevent scorching. DON’T LET IT BOIL! You want to create an infusion of the flowers which means a longer slower heating process. Boiling will mean scorching the flowers and milk!
7- You’ll notice the rose buds will begin to loose their color, remove your brew from the heat to let it cool and allow the tea to steep for about 3 minutes.
8- Remove roses with mesh strainer and compost.
As you drink, visualize your tea as a pink white healing light of love and remember your affirmations taking deep breaths in-between each sip! <3
I hope you all enjoyed this & that your tea was delicious & full of positive energy! Feel free to try making this with other flowers which have different properties such as: lavender & chamomile for happiness and relaxation!
Every now and then, magic can fade. In order to keep it strong and healthy, you have to exercise it. Of course there will always be times when something else is more important than your craft, but there is always a little something you can do to keep it going.
-Whisper an incantation over your lil’ cup of tea.
-Pray to your deities as you fall asleep at night.
-Carry a tiny crystal in your pocket.
-Scribble a quick happiness sigil on your arm before school or work.
-Give your pets some treats you have bewitched.
-Recite affirmations when you get ready to go somewhere in the mirror.
-Light a stick of incense while you’re cleaning or just sitting around.
-Add little thoughts to your grimoire.
-Sleep with your tarot cards.
-Play some witchy music.
-Set out a couple jars to collect rain water.
-Cleanse your home while cleaning.
-Set aside at least one day a month to devote entirely to your craft.
Hope all of you guys enjoyed and if you’d like more ideas then feel free to request! In the meantime, have fun and happy bewitching!
I can talk about tea literally all day (and I have because I’ve worked in a spice and tea shop for years), and there is SO much to talk about with both health and magical benefits. Teas are made from tea leaves called camellia sinensis, with the exception of herbal teas/infusions. For this, I’m going to list magical and health benefits by type of tea.
Feminine * Earth * Winter * Strength * Stability * Death * Expelling Negativity * Alertness * Energy
Black tea is the most fermented and oxidized of all teas. Its tea leaves look shriveled and black. It combats heart ailments, digestive problems, high cholesterol, asthma, and breast/menstrual problems. Black tea also has a lot of caffeine (47 mg, still less than coffee) and too much of it can cause acidity issues in the stomach.
**There is a subset of black tea called Pu-erh, a post-fermented black tea. Some consider this to be the “purest” of all teas and connect it to the aether, as it is rare and valuable.
Masculine * Fire * Summer * Passion * Healing * Conscious Mind * Sexual Health * Love * Energy * Progress * Magic
Green tea is slightly steamed but not fermented, which maintains its green color. It has many health benefits, such as detoxifying, reducing cholesterol and weight, boosting immunity and stamina, and reducing blood glucose. It has less caffeine than black, but still some.
I always describe Oolong as being between Green and Blacks, since it is half fermented. It can help manage weight and stress, balance blog sugar levels, remove free radicals, and promote healthy skin and bones. HOWEVER, too much can actually speed up bone degradation because it sweeps away excess calcium. And beware of its high caffeine content (I used to drink Raspberry Wulong to pull all-nighters).
White tea is a little harder to find. Either the tea leaves are plucked as immature leaves and steamed, or the leaves have not been processed (there seems to be little consensus across cultures). Some have a small amount of caffeine. It’s a great antibacterial and antioxidant, and it improves the heart, oral health, and skin. Drinking a couple cups works better than one, and you can reuse the tea leaves, granted that the second cup will brew longer.
Examples: White teas come in many flavors and are usually labeled as white tea. You may need to seek out a tea shop to find some.
Magical properties depend on which herbs are used
This tea seems to be the most popular for witches on tumblr, because it is composed of dry, unprocessed herbs, seeds, fruits, or roots, and has no caffeine (as long as the herb doesn’t!). There are many recipes online as herbals are easy to make. In general, herbal tea promotes calm, reduces cholesterol and risk of heart conditions, cancers, and diabetes. Due to its lack of actual tea leaves it has less antioxidants than other teas. Some don’t even call it a tea, but dub it Herbal Infusion.
Examples: Rooibos, most Chais, Ginseng, Chamomile, Peppermint, Spearmint, Hibiscus
**Yerba Mate is an herbal tea that is notorious for its high caffeine levels (you’ve probably seen the energy drink). It also zaps one’s appetite and can become addictive, so be careful around this tea!
As always, feel free to add/message me of any corrections, and I hope you find your cup of tea!
If you buy pre-made herbal tea blends (usually have names like Bedtime, Calm, etc) check the ingredients. I just saw a Nighttime blend that had St. Johns Wort in it, which can be dangerous when mixed with some medications. Talk to you doctor what herbs you should avoid. (Especially when you want to ingest st. Johns wort or mugwort)
A simple hint to remember is just because its in a food store, doesn’t mean its safe.
Growing up in the south I have the fondest memories of sun tea made on hot days, using nothing but the sun’s warm rays to help the infusing process. I love sun tea because because it’s almost impossible to mess up, there isn’t any boiling water to worry about and almost no way to burn the leaves.
However, as a witch I have a new found appreciation. A simple drink can become a way to fill yourself with different magical properties. The sun itself is a catalyst for spells for vitality, clarity, health, happiness, and confidence. The best part is, ITS SO EASY.
FIRST: Pick the tea leaves for what you are trying to accomplish. Green tea is great for igniting passion, sexual health, and love. Black tea represents nature, strength, and is good for expelling and removing negative energies. Then we have herbal teas which are a whole other story with lots of different flavors and herbs with expansive options and magickal properties.
SECOND: Pick a few crystals to put on the lid or around the pitcher. Here I have crystal quartz and carnelian. I chose quartz for its ability to cleanse and enhance the crystals around it, and carnelian to help with anxiety and depression.
THIRD: Place outside or in a window with a lot of light and let the sun work its magic. During this time focus on what you are trying to manifest. Put all your intentions into the witchy brew. Remove tea bags when it reaches your desired color (I use six regular bags per two liters, but it’s up to you how strong you like your tea). Pour over ice and enjoy.
Optional: you can add cut fruit to further the intention. Strawberries, lemons, mint, or blood orange.
Some amazing combinations are:
🌞 Hibiscus tea and rose quartz for love
🌞 Black tourmaline and black tea for spirit cleansing
🌞 White tea and grapefruit for purification and uniting with the goddess of your choice
Really, the sky is the limit here. Try everything, there are no wrong answers.
Let me know what you guys try! I hope you enjoy this :)
SUPER EDIT: It was brought to my attention that I forgot to include some serious food safety tips with this, so here they are.
I’ve been drinking this for 24~ years? With no issue because I do the following:
- use purified water, most bacteria comes from the water itself in addition to things like unsanitized pitchers and what not. - do not leave the tea out for more than the intended brewing time (15-30 minutes). - only make what you intend to drink that day. - keep in the refrigerator no longer than 72 hours. - use tea leaves that come from sealed packages and are not expired. - if tea ever develops ropey looking strands, toss it and wash the container with hot water and soap (I also will rinse with vinegar).
My half of my art trade with the AMAZING @taryndraws! We share a love of tea and witches, so naturally I had to paint a tea witch for her. I imagine this witch cultivates her own plants to concoct some kind of healing brew, and of course uses magic to do so.
By the way, I’ve started using my Instagram story to post process photos of my paintings, so if you’d like to see all the rough sketches etc that come before the final piece, head on over to my Instagram to check it out!
A kiss is a very powerful thing, even in fairytales and lore of the past the power of kisses are told of (true love’s kiss, siren/mermaid kiss, first kiss, etc). a kiss can be a powerful tool for any witch. Here are a few suggestions for using kisses and the power they hold.
Use a kiss to charge objects: crystals, tarot cards, charms, amulets, etc etc. Use it to send your emotions and energy into the object. Love is a good emotion, but any positive energies you wish to charge the object with can be transferred this way. Adding your love to something can really give it a boost as well! Especially if it is for another to use. (Note: do not kiss toxic stones please! Be safe and smart)
Spell Sealing: Use a kiss to magically seal spells such as jar and bottle spells or use it to strengthen a (cooled!) wax seal. Imagine placing the kiss its like placing an invisible seal upon it, stamping in energy to lock th spell inside.
For Air and Wind spells: For all of my fellow witches who use air and wind spells, blowing a kiss after a chant or spell to summon a wind in the direction you wish it to blow is a good way to guide the wind but also show it positive reinforcement. Use it to show your gratitude for the wind’s cooperation. It is best for gentler wind spells.
Glamour and Beauty spells: Kiss the mirror after a beauty or glamour spell. Thank the mirror for its aid and seal any negativity into it. It also a wonderful way to reflect love back at yourself!
Love Spells: Kisses are great for powering up love spells! Kiss a candle before lighting it (careful if you are using essential oils be sure not to kiss where they are), kiss the written name of the one you desire, kiss a charm or amulet to help bring love into your life, and finally blow a kiss when finishing the the spell to close it.
Kitchen Magic: blow a kiss to finish a dish (don’t be too close though, don’t want to spread germs) to put a final charge of love into it before serving it to others. Good for with tea and coffee spells too!
Public Magic: Want to remain discrete while casting a spell in public? Blow a kiss! Its much subtler than pointing or hand motions, especially if it is a positive spell you are casting on another or a friend but it is also good for curses, either way its a wonderful way to send your intentions. Whisper the words or chant needed for the spell (if any) under your breath, imagine them them gathering in an orb of energy at your lips as you do so. Then do a subtle kiss motion on your lips (no hands and no ‘fish lips’, you are trying to be subtle). Then release the energy and words towards the target with a gentle blow of breath, sending the ball of energy in that direction.
Mourning/Remembrance Rituals: Ending such a ritual with a blown kiss to close it can help release your feelings in a positive manner and close the ritual with love and sincerity.
Thanking tools: As someone who uses tarot cards and many other divination tools, I like to place gentle kisses to the sides of the decks after using them to help bond with them. To show them my gratitude for assisting me in not only readings but also in my spell work. I also before days where I know i will be doing a lot of divination work, I will kiss them to help charge them up (as said above). It is an excellent way to bond with your tools!
