Birthday Cake - Steve Rogers

A one-shot story about a certain super soldier trying to surprise his girlfriend for her birthday. Note: This story is Steve Rogers x Reader instead of my usual Bucky Barnes x Reader. It was written as a gift to my friend.

Birthday Cake

Coffee Shop - Sam Wilson

A one-shot story in response to an anon request. Sam Wilson loves his local barista. Since this was a request, it doesn’t actually have a title.

THIS FEELS LIKE A TRAP but okay, here are some files i might keep open if i were paranoid about someone looking over my shoulder and i wanted to alt+tab into something that would confuse and disorient them into fleeing

A Scary HTML File aka my 106 homework to make an ecard generator

A Scary MySQL File aka my 211 homework to manipulate databases in the most bullshit roundabout ways possible

A Scary Excel File suitable for intimidating anyone who is easily intimidated by corporate taxation

and to combine the two, A Scary Excel Program aka i wrote a script to automate calculating the taxable gain realized on a not-like-kind exchange because i was too lazy to memorize the rules

the visual basic editor hides the Not Intimidating button i made to run another script for calculating the amount of a sole shareholder dividend and the capital gains tax

I'd like to rec Ghosts Love Elevators by thecommodore_squid on ao3. It's got a kind of "this, you protect" Winter Soldier breaking programming. It's shrinkyclinks, which is always cool. The Winter Soldier is assigned to assassinate Steve but doesn't. All in all, a very good fic. archiveofourown(.)org/works/6365386

thanks for the rec!

Rogers-Steven-Grant shut up.

“You have power in you. Don’t discount yourself too quickly.”

Interesting. Although emotional speeches from a friend did not equate reaching a level seven threat, the Asset could admit that he was a little bit intrigued.

“Whatever,” Rogers-Steven-Grant grumbled. “I’m putting on some music.”

AKA
An AU in which Bucky is a highly conditioned assassin and Steve is his next target.

I don't know if you've answered this before, but what is your opinion/desires/possibilities for Bucky and Natasha outside of Steve?

BLACK WIDOW MOVIE OR BUST TBQH

i would honest to god chop off fingers for a black widow movie (not mine, but like definitely someone else’s); a black widow movie of any form and shape. PREFERABLY i would like a red room prequel, but honestly at this point i’ll take anything. also as much as i like sebstan’s hobo sad face, i’d bust a gut if the winter soldier got a feature before natasha.

and i want this prequel i WANT THIS PREQUEL SO BAD THAT IS HONESTLY ALL I WANT. okayophelia and i talked about like the DREAM STRUCTURE OF OUR DREAM SOVIET ASSASSINS MOVIE, which is a shifting hall of mirrors narrative by unreliable narrator natasha romanoff/natalia alianovna romanova/whatever else aliases she has. i mean, it’s probably a bit too fragmented since mcu tends to be pretty linear with its framing, but a girl can dream.

(MR AND MRS SMITH’S FRAMING THO LETS DO IT LIKE THAT)

seriously all i want is this rolling huge narrative behind the 21st century conspiracy thriller of cap2 because good GOD i want the imagery of it so bad; blood in the snow and operas in evening wear and natasha going undercover and the winter soldier as her back up; the two of them a veritable army fighting the cold war without believing in the ideology. and BUNKERS and identity narratives and three day stakeouts and you start to see some of the winter soldier’s programming breaking down while natasha starts to question her loyalty to her state and wondering if any of her memories are real anyway; finding the humanity under the years of numbness. also red room training RED ROOM TRAINING.

i just. at this point i don’t care about the narrative it’s almost a visceral need for the sheer imagery of it.

Lol, stucky sleeping beauty au? (also, imagine Fury and Phillips as fairy godmothers lol)

I’ve given up on the numbers tbh.

ANYWAYS.

The idea here is that HYDRA can’t de-serum Steve - that milestone actually belongs to Tony Stark in 2015 and Christ, Barnes, it was an accident! I’m sorry! - but they definitely need Captain America out of the way, so they develop a fast-acting poison that even his system can’t fight off.

Thanks to Zola’s capture, Phillips hears about this before it can actually be tried out on Cap and he has his scientists get straight to work on antidotes for the Cap. The problem is, the only have a day or two to actually develop it before Cap goes to fight the Red Skull.

Turns out that the antidote isn’t a proper antidote but it does freeze his cells in a kind of biological stasis to keep the poison from actually doing its work. Not that this is helpful at all at the time because no one realizes this until he’s been frozen in the Arctic for seventy years.

When they finally dig him out of the ice, scientists discover this and then with time and modern advancements, develop a cure for the poison. Only, funny thing: Cap won’t wake up even when the poison is gone and they’ve done what was needed to wash the lesser “antidote” out of his system.

Natasha is the one that helps the Winter Soldier break his programming by talking to him about who he is and about Steve. She’s been studying the Captain America case since shortly before the Chitauri incident out of curiosity and has learned a lot more about Rogers than she knew initially.

Under Fury’s suggestions, while Project Insight still burns in the Potomac, she takes him to a secret underground facility on the other side of Washington where Steve is being held and monitored and lets the Soldier see him. She tried to explain to him what’s been happening re: Steve but he doesn’t seem to understand or possibly he isn’t listening. It’s hard to tell.

Anyways, the Soldier stays with Steve in the facility while he slowly recovers; the longer he’s out of ice and away from the machines, the more his brain heals and the more he remembers. The day he realizes what they were to each other, he crawls in bed with Steve and holds him tight.

“Christ, you punk,” he says and his cheeks are definitely not wet. He’s not crying, he’s not. “I’m here, Steve, I’m here. You gotta wake up, you gotta help me remember this shit. I can’t do this on my own, Stevie. I need you.”

He presses kisses all over Steve’s face, only daring to get as close as the corner of his lips without Steve awake to give him permission, but either that or his words work magic because Steve’s eyes flutter as he presses soft kisses to them.
