My favorite comic series for the past two years comes to an end today. Loki: Agent of Asgard ended at issue 17, which I read as soon as it hit my inbox this morning. And re-read. So many feels.
Lee Garbett amazes me with his ability to perfectly convey every expression and match the dialogue just so, and Al Ewing is an incredible writer who did wonders with Loki, making him charming, vulnerable, and so fallibly human while keeping an undercurrent of the danger and power inherent to the character.
I admit I had my doubts as to the direction they were going at one point, but they pulled it off perfectly and had me grinding my teeth with fingers crossed in hopes that the series would continue. They handled a truly complex character and transformed him, literally. They took Loki from the highest highs to the lowest lows and back to the bittersweet middle, ending on a high note even if it leaves you screaming at the ceiling over the fact that there’s not more.
So after reading the last issue and the thank-you at the end, I had to doodle a thank-you of my own. It’s super rushed and I might fix it later, but here it is anyway. If you haven’t read the comic yet, do. It’s more than worth it.
