Here are two lovely books from the turn of the century, Iras: A Mystery by Theo Douglas, and The Wagner Story Book by William Henry Frost. Theo Douglas was the pen name of Mrs. Henrietta Dorothy Everett, a prolific writer of fantasy and supernatural novels. William Frost wrote several books based on the myths and legends of Europe, including The Knights of the Round Table and Fairies and Folk of Ireland. These books’ art nouveau-inspired covers and occult contents beautifully reflect the tastes of the 1890′s.
