will pay for damages

anonymous asked:

I'm still in my first play of DA:I and I have put off playing what pride had wrought for like 2 months because I heard Solas break ups with the inquisitor right after 😭 any advice? From Red or Solas?

Listen, going into the Solasmance already knowing what happens is like jumping off the cliff and then asking “does one take fall damage in this game?”.

All I can say is that you will take that fall damage but if you’ve been paying enough attention, you won’t mind breaking all your bones for Solas.

PS: On a more serious note, his romance it’s more complicated than it seems. Definitely more complicated than “he’ll break up with you just because”. So don’t give up on him just yet. And, for what it’s worth, he’ll love you eternally regardless.

Should pedophiles kill themselves?

Listen, suicide is tragic. I’m not going to tell anyone to kill themselves. However, Anyone who prays on the innocence of children and creates a lifetime of damage and abuse by forcing them to fulfil their perverted, disgusting, and dangerous sexual fantasies is beyond selfish and evil and deserves every form of punishment known to man. I don’t care about it being a “condition”.. these people are parasites and add no true value to society.

Children are precious, they should be protected and they’re entitled to grow in a carefree, happy and loving environment. Childhood should be preserved and packed with happy memories and love. I have absolutely no tolerance for any form of abuse to children. If you cause any form of damage to a child, their adult life will pay the price. Leave children the fuck alone.

If I lose followers who happen to be pedophile sympathisers, then cool. Let’s see if your attitude remains if someone close to you is affected.

I hope at some point in the DCEU we get a scene where the Justice League trashes something and someone on the team like Clark says “We’ll pay for the damage, it’s fine.” and it cuts to Bruce with this “goddammit” expression on his face because he’s gonna have to pay for everything.

Since Jason’s truck is still getting fixed up in the shop, they use Trini’s 1998 Land Cruiser as their transportation (She constantly reminds her friends that it’s two years older than them) and that they better respect it. Billy takes her seriously. The others don’t. Zack’s sure that Trini loves the car almost as much as she loves Kim.

  • First of all, it’s Trini’s car. after years of saving money from birthdays and a good paying summer job before she moved to Angel Grove, she bought it with her own money.
  • It’s missing a headlight and has a huge crack down the middle of the windshield.
  • Trini threatens the boys every time they get in “Zack if you put a dent in the roof I’ll kill you” and “Jason if you make us crash you’re paying for the damages.”
  • She doesn’t threaten Billy or Kim
  • Kim gets control of the AUX cord and is the only one allowed in the passenger seat (which pisses off Zack and he tries to take it from her. Trini says she’ll throw him out the window)
  • They start to call her car Hulk because no matter how much shit they put that car through, it’s still in one piece (besides the missing headlight and crack in the windshield) and that it really does feel like it’s indestructible.
  • One day Kim decides to have Billy hotwire Hulk so she can take him to the shop to “Paint over the ugly grey”
  • Trini catches them and just stands there looking all disappointed at her girlfriend with her arms crossed as Billy goes, “KIM MADE ME DO IT, I SWEAR!!”
  • Trini forgives Billy
  • She doesn’t forgive Kimberly
  • Later that same week, it’s Trini’s birthday so Kim wakes Billy up at 6 in the morning to steal Hulk. Kim takes it to the shop and replaces the light and windshield.
  • They drive back to an angry Trini which quickly grows into a happy Trini because, “Holy shit, both of the lights work again!!!”
  • The next day Trini notices painted pink lips in the corner of her trunk, which she didn’t notice before. Kim just smiles from the passenger seat as she hears Trini, “Kimberly!”
  • Hulk is the coolest car in the parking lot of Angel Grove. Everyone constantly asks Trini she’ll give them a ride. She tells them to fuck off. (They grumble when Trini lets Kimberly in)
  • Billy buys Trini a power ranger sticker family (Even though Trini swore that she’d never put a sticker on Hulk, she does it anyways because it’s Billy and she didn’t know that people were making them into car stickers now but she thinks it’s pretty damn cool)
  • Trini gives her spare key to Kimberly
  • Zack tries to steal it
  • Sometimes the gang shows up to school late because, “Kimberly, did you take my key?” “What? No, Trini, I haven’t seen your key, I have my own.” Trini and Kim then start bickering about using Kim’s key and Billy just goes, “It’s in your hand, Trini.”
  • Jason wants to sell his truck for a land cruiser
  • He doesn’t because, “Jason if you get a wannabe Hulk I’ll cut your balls off.”
  • It’s almost like Kimberly lives in that car. Her sweatshirts and various articles of clothing are everywhere
  • One day when it’s just Zack and Trini, Zack just holds up a pink bra. (Trini slams on the brakes in the middle of traffic just to punch him all while her face gets red) Zack doesn’t stop laughing.
  • No matter how many laws they seem to break with Hulk, they never get caught

listen, i’m gonna be honest here, on a flawed and strictly personal level: if the events of the mcu were happening in our world, i would be fucking Terrified of the avengers

as a civilian in the mcu i wouldn’t have access to a ton of info about Bucky Barnes’ Super Tragic Life Situation? i would just know about the apocalyptic shit that happened in sokovia and i’d be seeing news stories about the avengers just Showing Up in countries they had no right to be in, causing damage, and leaving patting themselves on the back. i get upset hearing about local police misconduct. i wouldn’t be chill in this situation

this straight white 25-30 year old american dude from the 40s marching around the globe with a group of superpowered vigilantes (some ex-military, some enhanced with dangerous superpowers, all heavily armed with nearly unlimited resources) fighting people, possibly without working with local law enforcement or emergency services, without being held responsible by any higher-ups because the secret government organization he was working for turned out to be hydra so he burned that to the ground (making more apocalyptic-looking shit happen in the states) and then decided that he should still get to do that job anywhere he chooses without any systems of accountability or communication with the public in place (short of an eccentric billionaire with a shaky reputation making some statements to the press)

like. would i be on tumblr and twitter and facebook seeing people asking for a donation to their kickstarter to fix their car or their house or pay hospital bills or something because of the events of the avengers, and catws, and aou, and cacw,,,, like would the avengers be paying for that? they’re not working for anyone. they don’t have people they answer to. there’s probably not a complaints department or a number you can call. do i have to personally contact and/or sue tony stark to unfuck my financial situation. how exactly do you handle this? how does this work? who’s paying for damages this would be a mess

and then 117 countries around the world start getting together to say “okay this needs to stop”, so there’s probably some Not Great Press re: the avengers circulating around the world. natasha was a russian spy/assassin and all of her Red Ledger Baggage got dumped onto the internet. + also press re: the Event In Lagos™…and then bucky barnes attacks the people trying to hold the avengers accountable. holy shit. the leader of a nation who was leading the charge re: Avengers & Accountability is murdered by captain america’s best friend.

i mean, steve knows that bucky is innocent, you and me know that bucky is innocent, but your average citizen probably wouldn’t. then steve goes and physically fights off the people who have been sent to arrest bucky for this–you think those people and the families of those people wouldn’t be publicly not okay with that? there’s a dramatic car chase fight situation involving bucky, steve, sam, And The Son Of The Recently Murdered King of Wakanda, and they’re arrested, and maybe you think the drama is probably over, it’s being dealt with, bUT NO, bucky barnes attacks a bunch of people and escapes and there’s a dramatic helicopter crash and holy shit this is like maybe half of the movie’s plot and things would already be So Tense

like even people who were pro-avengers would probably be like  “holy shit okay but What Is Going On” and this is all Before the fight at the airport in germany and hearing on the news that captain america broke his team of vigilantes out of prison and they are now Hiding Somewhere Among Us…like, we know these people and can empathize with them because we see their stories in a way that prioritizes them and their relationships over the collateral damage but like. this would be such a mess this would be so tense to live through as a civilian and i would be Afraid

You know what I love abt this fandom?? The fact that if these situations were irl, yall would be advocating for the exact opposite of what you’re saying about Civil War.

Because do you really think people in positions of power should just… decide they don’t want to be held accountable?? Decide that they think they’re above 117 countries and should just keep Doing Their Own Thing despite all these people saying they want change?? Would you still support them if this was, say, your Police Department??

Would you find it acceptable if you, as a civilian, we’re just travelling down the highway one day, when suddenly a ‘police officer’ smashed your car window, then threw you out of the car into the middle of a busy highway in order to chase after his friend? Would you think it was cool then??

Would you stick by them as they all met up together in an airport that only one of the police officers (coughtonycough) had been wise enough to evacuate, and then trash the whole place whilst making the richest police officer who had been trying to stop them pay for their damages when they ran away??)

Would you be okay with one of the Police Officers actually throwing and beating up civilians on a stairwell so that he could get his pal out to safety??

And I just laugh because you know you wouldn’t. If the police force decided hey didn’t want to follow the wishes of 117 countries, and then all just ran away and continued to do their own thing when you tried to argue with them, you’d be up in arms!!!! You’d be so fucking furious that your rights as a civilian had just been removed like that!!! And I’m screaming because that is exactly what cap did!!!!!!!!

He decided that he was above everyone else. He decided that the team didn’t need to follow rules and that, as long as they were ‘good people’, they could continue to do whatever the fuck they wanted. He was the one who took Wanda out of a bad situation, only to make it and her offenses even worse, all the while insisting to Tony that ‘she’s just a kid!’

Yall insist that the police officers are held responsible when they kill someone, call it neglect or misconduct or whatever- and yet refuse to think about all the damage the avengers have done??? Hilarious.

Giant

high school supercorp au. kara struggling to keep her superpowers at bay around the pretty super nerd. kara hasn’t grown into her hero image yet & lena hasn’t grown into her name.

There’s a giant leading me to God knows where
I’ve got news, I’m going my way
Fighting, and I feel I’m getting somewhere
All is right, all is right.

From high atop the water tower on the very edge of town, a shadow sat, pushing up her glasses as they fell slightly down the bridge of her nose. Just below, an entire city stretched out toward the sea, the lights bleeding into it, which then bled into the horizon, into the very sky itself. Down by the boardwalk, someone was throwing away old bread and cotton candy while the gulls gulped them down with contented caws that got lodged in their noses. The smell of the freshly cut, end-of-summer lawns wafted through the night, perfuming the last night of summer break perfectly.

I'm interested in those kid/cartoon and anime witch shows you mentioned. (unless it's actually W.I.T.C.H which I've watched a thousand times)

It wasn’t gonna be W.I.T.C.H at all! I actually don’t recall that one, lol.

I am basically gonna stick to anime for this list, jsyk, it got way too long… There are a few specifically about witches, while some are just about magic in general. (It’s a sparse genre man.) These are ones I have personally watched, were recommended to watch, or have at the very least heard of.

I am also terrible at doing summaries but here we go!

Movies

Majo no Takkyuubin
(Kiki’s Delivery Service) -

a more well-known movie, featuring a young witch who leaves home to a brand new city in order to do her magical training, and finds out what being a witch really means to her through her adventures

genres: adventure, comedy, drama, magic, romance, fantasy

score: 8.28 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

Little Witch Academia (2013) -

the first precursor to the anime, it shows the struggles of a human girl who desperately wants to be a witch like her idol, but has no magical talent of her own, while finding out her idol isn’t so well idolized at her magic school

this movie was only forty minutes long, and was funded by a young animators training project. due to its success, they created a kickstarter for the sequel, which then lead to the actual anime series

genres: adventure, comedy, magic, fantasy, school

score: 8.00 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

Little Witch Academia: Mahoujikake no Parade
(Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade) -

this movie continues on the story of the human witch, who is facing expulsion along with her friends, who must band together with another group of witches in order to organize their school’s annual parade

of course, it never goes that easy, lol

genres: adventure, comedy, magic, fantasy, school

score: 7.92 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

TV Series

Little Witch Academia (TV) -

the story of a human girl who gets inspired by a witch’s magical show and decides she wants to become a witch herself, and, despite the obstacles she comes to face, continues on with enthusiasm and joy

it is suggested you watch the Little Witch Academia series in order - starting with the movie “Little Witch Academia” in 2013, then “Little Witch Academia: Mahoujikake no Parade” in 2015, followed by this anime

genres: adventure, comedy, magic, fantasy, school

score: 7.90 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

Flying Witch -

a slice of life anime about a young girl who moves in with her cousins in order to continue her witchcraft training, who experiences many new things and shows those around her the magic of, well, magic

genres: slice of life, comedy, supernatural, magic, shounen

score: 7.63 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

Junketsu no Maria
(Maria the Virgin Witch) -

the story of a witch who attempts to use her magic to avoid conflicts in the Hundred Year War, but is then forbidden to use her magic by the Archangel Michael, who warns her that her magic will be lost if she loses her virginity

genres: comedy, fantasy, historical, magic, seinen

score: 7.28 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

Sugar Sugar Rune -

think of a cross between magical girls and witches, and you’ve got this anime - the story of two friends who are competing to see who will become the new Queen of the Witch World while collecting the hearts of humans

genres: fantasy, magic, shoujo

score: 7.54 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

Hell there’s even witch harem anime:

Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo
(Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches) -

basically this guy and this girl kiss accidentally, which leads them to discover they can switch bodies this way, and they join a school club full of other people whose magical abilities are awakened with a kiss

genres: harem, mystery, comedy, supernatural, romance, school, shounen

score: 7.88 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

Zero no Tsukaima
(The Familiar of Zero) -

a self absorbed witch with no magical talent screws up a(nother) magical ritual - only to find out she has summoned a boy, who is to be her familiar, bearing a mark that tells of extreme power

genres: action, adventure, harem, comedy, magic, romance, ecchi, fantasy, school

score: 7.59 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

If you’ve never seen it:

Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica
(Puella Magi Madoka Magica) -

while the witches may not be the main focus, this anime is about a girl who is faced with the decision of becoming a magical girl in order to protect the world from evil witches, but it’s not as “magical” as it appears

this anime destroys lives - it is actually super intense and feelsy for being a “magical girl” anime

genres: drama, magic, psychological, thriller

score: 8.49 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

Slightly less about witchcraft in general but:

Fairy Tail -

a long series (almost 400 episodes) about a girl who joins the magic guild of her dreams, called “Fairy Tail,” where strength, spirit, and family are what hold the ragtag group of wizards together

starts off funny and silly but then OMG THE FEELS; also there are two seasons, the first being 175 episodes and the second, sometimes listed as “Fairy Tail (2014),” being 102 episodes long

genres: action, adventure, comedy, magic, fantasy, shounen

score: 8.18 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei
(The Irregular at Magic High School) -

this story follows two siblings training at a school for magic, though it is treated more like technology; she has plenty of magical potential, while he does not, though his skills and prowess lie elsewhere

genres: sci-fi, supernatural, magic, romance, school

score: 7.76 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

Witch Craft Works -

the story of a high school boy who finds himself under the protection of a fire witch, trying to keep him from a mass of other witches, who wish to capture him for the power he has inside him

genres: action, fantasy, magic, seinen, supernatural

score: 7.21 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic -

a young magician offers to pay for some damages he caused by entering a nearby labyrinth, built by incredible magicians called Magi and full of wonderful treasures, which leads him on a fantastic adventure

genres: action, adventure, fantasy, magic, shounen

score: 8.23 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

Rental Magica -

a boy takes over the family business - a service that sends mages and other supernatural beings out to assist people with magic - and struggles with it, due to being a coward, and dealing with those who threaten him

genres: mystery, supernatural, fantasy

score: 7.17 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

Witch Hunter Robin -

a young craft user joins a team of witch hunters, replacing one who was previously killed, to assist them on their mission of capturing witches to find out how any why they become witches in the first place

genres: action, drama, magic, mystery, police, supernatural

score: 7.35 of 10 on [MyAnimeList]

@elfshot recommends [Ultra Maniac] ; genres: magic, comedy, romance, school, shoujo.

Okay I spent two hours on this, I am done, lol.

It’s hard to believe we lost Prince a year ago today. While we don’t have an interview with Prince himself, we do have an interview with Questlove that was recorded in front of a live audience, shortly after Prince’s passing, in which Questlove shares some funny and surprising stories about him.

Questlove On Prince, Doo-Wop And The Food Equivalent Of The ‘Mona Lisa'

“We’re at Paisley Park [Prince’s studio and home in Minnesota], and I don’t know, maybe I let the s-word slip … and [Prince] was like, “Yeah, that’ll be a dollar.” He grabbed a water bottle and he said, “Actually, you’re rich. That’s $20.”

I said, “Huh?” and he said, “No cursing.” And I said, “Cursing! Wait, you’re the one that taught me how to curse.”

But the thing was, when I said that, I was really saying it to get out of paying 20 bucks, but I saw the look on his face. And when I walked away that night and went back to the hotel, I wondered if he really felt bad about that; if he thinks in his head, “Man, I’ve ruined a generation.” But he really felt that.

And I felt that with a lot of his secret philanthropy, and a lot of the Robin Hood stuff he was doing, I mean real deep political — saving schools, people to this day not knowing where this $3 million check came from, that was all him. I felt like maybe in the last 20 years of his life, he felt the need to overcompensate or pay forward what he feels that maybe he damaged some of us who grew up listening to his music.”

anonymous asked:

Is it bad that I just... can't accept a lot of the Team Cap side of issue because it's so... blind to the race issues? Like I'm not white, and whenever I read Team Cap Meta, it just can't... separate the white privilege from a lot of the statements that I've seen. I think it's a common issue as a lot of my fellow foreign fans felt a massive divide with the movie as well.

Full disclosure that I am white and American, before I continue.

I don’t think it’s bad at all. I think it’s something to be discussed certainly. I’ve heard from other foreign fans that Cap’s position seems imperialistic and I can certainly see where they are coming from and even agree on some points.

Going into a foreign country - and as the Accords seem to want to stop, against their wishes - and then declaring that your reasons to do so and to keep doing so are the safest hands are your own is something can easily be read as ‘I know what’s best for you’ and that was used in the past by white colonialists to justify their invading and occupying foreign countries. I don’t think the writers intended this impression at all, I just think they perhaps didn’t think through was they were really saying thoroughly enough and then they never clarified what was happening. If the Avengers didn’t have permission to be in Nigeria and didn’t coordinate with anyone, if Lagos was the result of the Avengers not having a limits, then they would be incredibly worrisome. The bad guy was stopped, but innocents died, and by what little the movie gives us, the Avengers are silent on that.

(While I disagree with Steve’s statement, I don’t think that’s what he meant. I think it was tied into what he said about shifting the blame, but that point was already muddled when he told Wanda that sometimes people die and they just have to go on. Factually true, but the people that died still died, so its not surprising someone will want answers.)

The minute the movie implied the Avengers don’t have liaisons or chain of command beyond ‘Steve and Nat are the boss’ (and we leave the rest to Tony, maybe?), the minute the movie said 117 countries though, I knew it wasn’t fully appreciating it’s own scale. Some of those countries were likely small, using this to get their voices heard, and maybe some of those leaders were corrupt, but others were probably genuinely worried about the Avengers posing a threat and them not being able to handle it until they were already gone.

There’s more to the Accords of course, things that restrict the Avengers or are maybe even there to punish them, we really don’t know. The movie doesn’t tell us beyond whatever Ross says in his first visit. But there has got to be a middle ground there between Steve’s the safest hands are our own and Tony’s we need to be checked. This is not a ‘No, you move’ situation. And then you mix in Bucky and the whole thing becomes about him and…boom, ideological plot lost.

I feel like I’m not fully answering your ask because I don’t have the perspective you do, and I apologize, but no, I don’t think it’s bad, especially if it makes you feel uncomfortable the way it does. If anyone else wants to pick up on this, or if you want to send me more, anon, I’d be happy to listen.

Fight Me MCU- Steve

Definitely my longest list of transgressions commited by a character and I may be just a little angry but MCU Steve doesn’t behave well in Ca;cw which is understandable considering Bucky is involved in the situation, but it creates a host of issues.

Steve

·       Refers to Wanda as just a kid, brings her into battle

o   If Wanda is just a kid who doesn’t belong on the raft, or imprisoned in the compound, and shouldn’t be held responsible for her actions why is she invited into battle with the Avengers, that seems irresponsible.

·       Allows his team to throw a plane at a teenage spiderman

·       Unwilling to compromise

o   Tony offers a very fair offer in which the accords will be adapted and Bucky will be protected

o   Steve as far as we know never tells his teammates that this occurred

·       Has a standoff in a public airport

o   Tony evacuated the airport, Steve did not know that was going to happen and could have easily put civilian lives in danger

o   Leaves Tony to pay for the damages

·       Ignores 117 countries will because the safest hands are our own

o   Ends up a fugitive in Wakanda unable to help anybody

o   Calls 117 governments most of them democratic and thus ignores the will of 117 countries worth of people

·       Doesn’t tell Tony about his parents murder for 3 years

o   “Sometimes my teammates don’t tell me things”

·       Is literally a soldier for the US military, works with SHIELD a government agency

o   The accords are just governments with agendas trying to control us

o   Steve what? You listen to people in power, it’s good. Tony listens to people in power, and now it’s bad.

·       Does not stay to face the consequences of his actions

o   The concept of Civil Disobedience (MLK) is that it is our duty to stand againt unjust laws, however Civil disobedience also claims that you must answer for the laws you break in standing against those you view as unjust

o   Steve runs away to Wakanda leaving Tony to deal with the fallout.

·       Does not share the information the Zemo orchestrated the assassination

·       Hurt’s innocent German police officers in his quest to save Bucky

o   Threw german swat team members down the stairs

o   Threw an admantium shield at German swat team just trying to do their job

·       Participates in a high-speed chase through the city with T’challa Bucky and the police

o   Most likely resulting in a multitude of casualties

·       Does not blame Wanda for her actions against Tony

o   This is fine, Steve doesn’t have to blame Wanda for her actions against Tony even Though she made them after having years to process her grief

o   He does not offer Tony the same courtesy when Tony attacks Bucky immediately after learning the truth of his parents death

·       No man left behind

o   Steve disables the arc reactor powering the suit (PTSD anyone?) and then leaves Tony in a metal suit in the middle of Siberia, That suit probably weighs more than 300 pounds. Also the force required to break the arc probably would have shattered Tony’s ribcage how he walked away with just a black eye is pure comic book logic, but whatever.

·       Told antman to grow

o   Scott “Hey I can do this thing, it might kill me.”

o   Steve. “Do it!”

Don’t get me wrong I love Steve, and he absolutely should have defended Bucky against Tony in Siberia because Bucky did not deserve to die for his actions while brainwashed. He also had every right to disagree with the Accords, however he could have fought them legally, and he could have used the legal system to protect Bucky. He instead chose to escalate the situation repeatedly. Ignoring every attempt of Tony to compromise throughout the movie.

MCU Steve Rogers in Civil War reminds me a lot of Thor before he was worthy of the hammer. He chooses to fight instead of compromise, and believes in himself as an absolute moral goodness. Thor chose to fight during a time of peace, and believed himself to be in the right morally at the beginning of his banishment.

omg can you please write a sequel/ part 2 to that supercorp fic you just posted where Lena finds out Kara is supergirl?!? It was so great but now I'm stressing that Lena doesn't react well. Only if you've got time of course :) also I love how you write supercorp in general, it's amazing and feels so on point

i have a fever & im hacking up a lung: this is, in my humble opinion, the time when my writing ability rly soars. rly comes into its strengths. rly just,,, fucjin rocks. enjoy, ur welcome :))
/

kara has been waiting, and hoping - and stress eating her way through the kids menu - and more hoping, beyond the normal bounds of hope, that lena will turn up for the dinner date they’d set up before… before all that “i’m an alien blah blah specifically supergirl blah blah blah” stuff.

kara shoves her hand into her bowl of fries, pats around to find one as she checks the long row of windows and the two doors for any sign of lena. her face falls when all she encounters is the cool ceramic feeling of betrayal. and no lena.

she flags down a waiter.

“can i get another of the fries, please?”

he looks at her like he knows she’s already eaten her way through six of them. or maybe like he knows she’s been stood up. it makes her feel worse - slump back in her chair and try to keep from feeling like her heart is being crushed kind of worse - and he nods hurriedly and scurries away into the kitchen.

she pulls out her phone, taps on the second contact, aaalex.

>if after three hours someone hasn’t shown up to a dinner….

>u got stood up
>or they’re dead

kara rolls her eyes. then has a minor panic because, well, lena is kind of a magnet for attempted murder. she strains her ears to listen for lena but it’s futile this close to the ground, this close to so many people.

>kara
>lenas fine
>dont break the restaurant or ur phone

kara blinks down at her phone.

>have you been playing with the telepath drugs

>no lol i learned my lesson. i just figured she’s the only one u have been going on dates with so…

kara glares down at her phone, taps the CALL button with furious precision.

“we aren’t dating, alex. they’re friend dates. dates between friends.”

“mhm.”

“and also i have been on plenty of dates lately!”

“sure,” alex allows, but kara suspects she’s only half listening.

“they’re not dates,” she mutters. “but she did stand me up.”

“yeah i know. you put your “date between friends” in my calendar so i was kind of surprised when she marched herself into my office tonight. she signed everything.“ alex waits for a moment. kara says nothing, just stubbornly munches through the fries the waiter puts in front of her. she’s relieved to hear lena is actually okay, and that she signed, but it’s all overshadowed by the fact that lena isn’t here, with her, eating something kara can’t pronounce and gushing about the science she’s been working on and the way she smiles when kara orders seconds and tries to pay and alex is talking again. "not sure what kind of damage control thats worth, if any. i mean, she’s a luthor. but i told j'onn not to even think about wiping her. or, i thought it really loudly.”

kara sighs.

“as is my right as a big sister, i get to tell you you’re an idiot,” alex says, far more mildly than kara expected. or deserved, really. “so what the hell happened? i thought we’d at least talk about it before you told her.”

“it wasn’t something i could deny. maybe i could’ve,” kara mutters, “if it weren’t for my too expressive face.”

“the too expressive face,” alex agrees unhappily. “you got us in a lot of trouble with that.”

kara rolls her eyes. “sorry twelve years late?” she offers and alex hums her thanks. “plus m'gann said hi. like she knew me, you know? she didn’t know someone was with me, it’s not her fault, but yeah. lena knew. i could see it. and then we were at her place and i realised she just knew i was an al- a foreigner,” she corrects, looking around the mostly empty restaurant, “and not supergirl,”

“hold up. she let you into her place knowing you’re an alien?”

“yeah.”

“huh, okay.”

“what?”

“no, nothing. let me guess, you told her.”

“dramatic reveal and all.”

“and this was…”

“last night.” kara checks her watch, lifts her hand to get the bill. she grimaces when she sees how expensive it is to eat her way through her feelings. but hey, if she’s going all out, what’s a little more? “can i get two of your pizzas takeaway and also four brownies? please.”

the waiter looks ill at the request but kara is too upset to care that she’s eaten way too much tonight. by human standards. she could still eat.

“alex, you still there?”

“yup.”

“are you free tonight?”

“nope.” she pops the ‘p’ with some relish. “day off tomorrow, maggie and i are taking our bikes down the coast, remember?”

“right, right.” kara hands over her card to the waiter, signs the bill he brings over. “what do i do?”

“about lena?”

“no, about the state of affairs in, ugh i can’t be bothered,” she mutters. “yes, about lena.”

“um. well, she hasn’t tried to kill you yet so…talk to her?” kara hears her step out into an echoing room - the parking lot, she guesses, and alex’s car beeps. “hold on, i’ll switch you to my hands free,”

“no, no, it’s okay. drive safe and have fun tomorrow.”

“we will. and i love you.”

“love you too.”

//

“hi, jess.”

“kara!” jess smiles over at her. “late night for everyone, hmm?”

“yeah, what are you doing here? it’s midnight, you should be home.”

“i’m just finishing up some work, i have the week off from tomorrow,” she explains. “do you want to see miss luthor?”

her phone buzzes on the side and jess glances up at kara after reading the message.

“let me guess, she’s not in.” jess gives her an awkward smile and kara closes her eyes, nods. “of course,” she says quietly. “okay, well,” she swallows around the thick feeling of tears and sets the brownies on the counter. “um. these are for her. or you. have a good night bye have a fun week,” she says very quickly and almost runs back to the elevator.

it dings open in seconds and kara rushes in, leans back against the wall of it. she holds herself together as much as she can, can’t really help sniffling but she can excuse that on a cold. she stares over at the shut box doors of the elevator and knows the second she gets home she’s going flying.

//

she wonders if she still has her aunts suit. she doesn’t feel like reds and blues tonight, wants to fly without the expectation that comes with her suit.

//

the suit, alex tells her, was quarantined.

kara shoves herself into some old jeans and a deep blue sweater and jumps into the sky. when she’s higher than the tallest building, she rolls onto her back and floats, staring up at the sky.

winn is still in the DEO headquarters. she doesn’t fly down, but she hears him typing away and watching some show on his second monitor. he’s been working late a lot lately. she doesn’t know if something is wrong or if it’s more guardian business but she misses him. she’d text him an invite, or ask him about a game night, only she left her phone at home.

james is on the phone to lucy when she flies overhead and they’re over but he still sounds adoring when he speaks to her, and happy.

alex is - doing things no sister needs to hear.

“kara.”

lena’s voice is small and kara jerks, almost rolls into the path of a bat, before she detects the slight slight whine of a voicemail.

“i know it’s late, you’re probably asleep, i just wanted to talk and,”

kara lands with a slight thump on lena’s office balcony and lena turns. the slight stutter of her heart comes not when she sees kara’s face, but her body. or, clothes.

“kara.”

she ends her voicemail, steps over to unlock the door.

“hi. i wasn’t - i was flying, i heard you.”

“oh.” lena’s fingers twitch. she folds her arms. “i signed everything.”

“yeah. alex told me.”

“i apologise for missing dinner.”

kara takes a step back, shakes her head. lena looks nervous the moment she frowns and it rips at kara. she takes another step back.

“you didn’t miss it. you stood me up.” lena doesn’t say anything. “why - what does it change?” she asks. “how am i different?” she tries to keep the frustration from her voice but whatever, she’s upset that her best friend is all wonky over this, fight her about it.

“you’re supergirl.”

“yeah.”

“i’m,”

“if you say a luthor i’m going to scream,” kara tells her, and lena’s teeth click closed around that exact phrase. “i’ve been telling you for months that i don’t care about that.”

“that’s from before i knew,”

“but i knew!” kara cries. “i knew, and i meant it, and i still mean it, and i just want,” she stutters to a stop, lifts a hand to her eyes. she’s not wearing her glasses so she just covers them with a hand and slowly drags it away when she’s contained again. “i’m sorry i didn’t tell you. i didn’t want things to change. i didn’t,” the reason, or a reason, occurs to her and she sags a little. it’s selfish but lena deserves to know. “i didn’t want you to leave me,” she tells her, in a small voice.

lena has been very quiet and still as kara spoke and now she nods. “i am sorry about tonight. sometimes, i do things like that. when someone’s upset me.” she rolls her eyes delicately. “i’ve been told it’s a defence. throw someone off balance so i feel we’re on equal terms again.” her eyes are dark, cool. “i didn’t know. that you were an alien. i keep thinking and thinking, and i keep picking out all these instances and i just,” she shakes her head. “i can’t believe i didn’t know. i don’t like that i didn’t know.”

“i’m sorry.”

lena nods. “i can’t promise everything will be as it was before.”

kara nods as well. things - this, them - have changed and nothing goes back to how it was before a shift like that. as much as something might look the same, it never is.

“but i can tell you that in a month, there is a restaurant opening. i have four tickets, i would like for you to take one.” kara blinks at her. lena doesn’t smile but she does soften, a little. “i can’t tell how this is going to go, which is freaking me out a little and in a week i’m sure i’m gong to do something drastic,” she says with an edge of warning.

“i’ll be ready,” kara promises.

“good. all i can really say is that i will still want you to be around in a months time.” kara feels herself light up at the words. they’re not ‘i’m not leaving you’ or 'i’m not sending you away’ but they’re pretty damn close. “and i don’t know how i feel about this, i don’t know when I’ll figure it out, but i already miss my friend kara.” kara nods her agreement. she can feel a lena sized hole opening up inside her the longer lena speaks, making herself clear that there is going to be a distance, a time for them to figure this out. she’s sure it’ll be a good thing; she’s equally sure it’ll hurt like hell.

“tomorrow is too soon to hang out, right?” kara checks. “it’s just, alex is away and winn is busy and,” she holds up her hands, shakes her head. “no, nevermind, too soon.”

it grows a little awkward - lena thanks her for the brownies, declines when kara offers to fly her home.

but the next morning, kara opens her front door to lena’s driver, a box of cookies and a small pot of yellow flowers and a note with just a short message.

'our lives are filled with tomorrow’s. this one isn’t ours, but perhaps the next one will be. enjoy your day x’

kara tucks it between the photo frame on her bedside table and the lamp and brings the flower pot with her to the couch. she sets up her next season and pulls the pot into her lap, wraps an arm around it. she pats the pot fondly, sends a photo of herself with it to lena, and settles in.
