will be spending the next week doing this

sweebs  asked:

Do you have any advice for budgeting/saving $ if there's a lot of unpredictability in spending? I'm an art student, so sometimes I'll spend hundreds of dollars on supplies a semester and sometimes I'll rarely buy anything. Sometimes it's hard to predict how much I'll have to spend on materials for a class beforehand, so it's hard for me to set aside an amount. I had to buy a bunch of paper for next week and now I have $3 in my bank account. It's not an emergency but, help

Oh no, that sounds stressful! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you!

I don’t personally have any experience with this kind of budgeting, but it sounds tough. Do you have an idea of what the maximum spending you’ll have to do will be? Like, for example, what are the most expensive materials you might have to buy? Can you ask former students to get an idea of what they had to buy for that class? Can you buy some pricey items ahead of time when you have extra money to stock up, or is that not really feasible?

It might be helpful to put aside some money each month or at the beginning of the semester for art supplies. It can’t hurt to over-budget this, especially since you said the costs vary! If you end up not spending, you can carry that money over into the next semester or use it for necessary items!

But yikes, the $3 sounds rough and I hope things got a little more stable since you sent this ask! I know you probably need high quality art supplies, but please make sure you’re eating and taking care of yourself, too!– Mimi

Pure unadulterated fluff!

Film night was your favourite night with Norman. You made a pact when you’d gotten married that at least one night a week when you were together would be date night, whether it be going out or staying in, you’d spend time together doing something to distract yourselves from your busy lives and reconnect with each other. Tonight you got to pick the film and as you were in a soppy mood it had to be Dirty Dancing.
“Really?” Norman whined a little, wanting an action film.
“Yes!” You laughed, putting the DVD in. He flopped down on the sofa with a pouty face and you snuggled up next to him, his face softening as you put a hand on his chest, stroking his t-shirt lightly. You both sit in silence as you watch the film, then you sit up and clap as the credits roll when the film ends. Norman looks at you and playfully rolls his eyes as you get up and go to the toilet. When you come back, Norman’s standing there, the sofa turned sideways, cushions on the floor around him.
“Wanna do the lift?” He asks with a wink.
“Oh my god, yes!” You gasp.
“Right, run along the sofa and I’ll lift you up from the arm yeah?”
“Okay!” You get up on the sofa and bounce along the seat until you’re at his end where he places his hands on your hips and lifts you up, immediately falling backwards onto the cushions.
“Ahhh!” You cry out as you fall.
“Sorry!” He says when you both land in a pile, “lets try again.”
“You sure?” You ask, sitting up and getting the hair out of your face.
“I’m not giving up on this that easy,” he laughs, “I moved the sofa and everything!”
“You’re the sweetest,” you smile, stroking his face with your hand and giving him a quick kiss on the lips as you get up, ready for another go. Again you start at one end of the sofa and make your way to his where he lifts you up and you lean a little too far forward, crashing down onto the cushions with him beneath you.
“This could work,” he says, kissing your stomach.
“Nope, no time for that, we need to perfect this!” You say, jumping up. After countless more goes you finally do it, and he holds you up firmly as you both shout out with happiness.
“We did it!” He says, sliding you down his body as your feet touch the ground.
“Thank you babe,” you smile, “but erm, we need to do it with the music.”
“You are joking right?”
“Well, just one more go can’t hurt,” you say.
“Fine! Lets do it,” he laughs, getting his phone out and putting he song on for full effect. You do the jump once more and he catches you again, then you both fall down onto the cushions. He rolls onto his side and starts tickling your waist, you screaming out with laughter as his fingers walk their way across your skin.
“Enough! I give up!” You laugh, tears rolling down your cheeks. He stops, then looks at you seriously for a second when you suddenly start tickling him back.
“No!” He cries out through laughter, “stop!”
“Did you say something, dearest?” You ask above the noises he’s making. He flips you over so you’re beneath him and you stop your tickle attack as he leans down and plants a kiss on your lips.
“I love you,” he whispers, nudging his nose against yours as he holds onto your body tightly.
“Love you too, Patrick,” you say, sticking your tongue out and giggling.

Art School Stereotypes I’ve observed*

Animation

  • N e r d s
  • Unhealthily obsessed with video games, anime, Disney, or some sick combination of the three
  • One of the most sleep-deprived majors, but also surprisingly chipper (there are exceptions)
  • Instantly recognizable by their triforce t-shirts or Pokemon Go snapbacks
  • In spite of everything, they have the highest population of straight-edge asexuals
  • If you weren’t straight edge and celibate before, then prepare to be, because you’re about to disown all bodily urges and dedicate your life to drawing cartoon animals

Illustration

  • Like Animation majors, but cooler and much better taste in fashion. A little less tech-savvy, though
  • Comic book nerds

Painting & Drawing

  • A friend of mine once said, “People who love animation go into animation. Then they realize it’s a ton of work and switch to illustration. Then they realize THAT’S a ton of work and switch into Painting & Drawing.”
  • Highest percentage of colorful hair and weird tattoos/piercings
  • grunge
  • Listen to music you’ve never heard of
  • Smoke a LOT, asthmatics beware

Ceramics

  • Kinda stereotypical stoners or high level artsy kids, but not that pretentious
  • Somehow even more conceptual and indie than P&D
  • Behind the ceramics building, there’s a sculpture garden of all the sculptures of students past. Every night, the campus closes at 4AM. They say it’s for security, but I say it’s because the sculptures all come to life at that point. I mean, think about it. The whole “spooky midnight hour” is so cliche, I don’t know anyone who DOESN’T stay up till midnight at least once a week. But 4AM? That’s the true witching hour. The hour that belongs only to the living sculptures (and architecture majors I guess)

Glass

  • Frankly, the least hygienic major
  • All the males and most of the females have a rank odor after being sweatily hunched over the steaming hot forges for too long
  • Might be stoners, but the chill, easy-to-hang-out-with stoners
  • Probably the most like a real family. I always walk by the Glass Studio at night and feel the breeze of warm air from their fire, catch a riff of tasteful classic rock, and hear the echoes of genuine laughter from within. It must be nice to have a home.

Jewelry

  • I dunno, I’ve never met one. They put on some sick gallery shows, though.

Graphic Design

  • In spite of Graphic Design as an art not being super emotional or indie compared to, say, Painting, the GD majors are probably some of the most tortured souls I’ve met
  • I used to be best friends/date a GD major and watched before my eyes as she was crushed by the world around her from Freshman to Junior year. Honestly I’m not sure if she still goes here. We don’t talk anymore, it’s too painful. I miss her, or rather, I miss the person she used to be. The person she used to be before Graphic Design.
  • I’m now roommates with a poor little GD Freshman, and I worry about her every day. Not as a lover like with the last one, but as a parent. What will happen to her? How long will she last? Cheyenne, if you’re reading this, run away while you still can.
  • Gets excited about fonts and kerning.
  • I don’t really know what kerning is.

Photography

  • Outdoorsy and nature loving hippies
  • The chillest major, I envy them
  • Photography IS hard work, don’t get me wrong, but come ON! You travel to a beautiful mountain spring, snap a few pictures, and call it a day
  • Never need to pull all-nighters
  • Seriously, I deeply respect Photography as an art and all BUT

Film

  • Some of them are also outdoorsy and nature loving hippies, the rest are hipSTERS
  • “I don’t watch ‘movies.’ I watch Films.
  • Apparently they have something of a drug problem, i.e., half the class comes in stoned
  • My friend Chris said one of the film teachers plays Porno he made in class, I’m not sure if he was messing with me or not

Architecture

  • Oh boy, Architecture
  • The coldest hearts of any major
  • The only nice Architecture majors are the first years. After that last final, something inside of them breaks. At that point they either crawl to a different major in submission, or become as sharp, straight, and lifeless as the buildings which they spend so much time designing
  • They literally do not sleep
  • Seriously, I was pulling an all-nighter last week (since the Architecture place is the only place open 24/7) and I swear to god there was an entire CLASSFULL of the Architects up and jamming from 10pm to 7am. I tried to sleep, but the Architecture majors just wouldn’t quit. Also, it was so cold there. So cold. Cold from the hearts of fifth-year Architects. I’m bringing my winter backpacking sleeping bag next time.

Industrial Design

  • Mostly foreign exchange students, especially Chinese, Indian, and Korean
  • I don’t speak Chinese, Indian, OR Korean so I can’t say much else
  • Vaguely like Architecture majors, only they appear to have a normal spectrum of human emotions

Interactive Design

  • What is Interactive Design? Honestly I don’t really know. Like making Apps or some shmuck.
  • Tech
  • Graphic Designers who love themselves

Fashion

  • Mostly female
  • Obviously they’re very very VERY nicely dressed
  • Calm, confident, but also have fun sides

Textiles

  • Most of the textiles students I’ve met are just stop-motion loving Animators
  • I think the ones that aren’t are probably like grandmas that love knitting or something

Furniture

  • Honestly I didn’t know this was a major until like last semester
  • The only furniture major I’ve met was this Norwegian dude who looked like a greek god
  • We were once assigned to do a group project together but then he blew me off to go surfing so I had to do it myself. Seriously? Surfing???? Like I’d be mad but that’s a cool reason to blow someone off. Hell, I’d blow people off surfing if I had the easy life of a non-animation-major

Writing

  • “We have a writing program?”
  • They’re cool though
  • Get really excited about books. I’ve read only about three or four books so I kind of just smile and nod while they talk
  • Seem genuinely interested in other people’s stories

Community Art

  • I’m not entirely sure what this is
  • Passionate about social justice and teamwork

Disclaimer: No offense to any of them (except architecture majors)

*At California College of the Arts from my relativley limited perspective as an animation major who frankly has only had minimal interactions with the others

25.4.17 || 4/100 days of productivity

Today I got a little time to sit down and do some bullet journaling before spending a couple hours doing my digital media lecture for next week. I didn’t get to take many photos today because the sun decided and I had babysitting duties, but I thought these were pretty cute? idk. I hope you’re all swell! 💛

I rode my bike to the forest last week and I got lost for a while! It was amazing :’) also this is last week’s spread! (I’m actually spending most of the time doing nothing but watching movies haha)

anonymous asked:

Victuuri merman au? (btw I luv ur art)

thank you anon! okay so I came up with two different aus because I love merman aus <333

1) FISHER VIKTOR & MERMAN YURI

“afternoon chats”

AU where Viktor was forced to go fishing and he almost kills Yuri by accident (and Yuri almost kills Viktor by trying to drown him) but they forgive each other and fall in love ;7; <3 But in order to meet up with Yuri, Viktor has to pretend he’s going fishing everyday when really he’s meeting Yuri <333 (so kind of like a how to train your dragon au too)

2) MERMAN VIKTOR & //FORGETFUL// HUMAN YURI

//this is probably my fave ahaha// AU where merman Viktor is curious about the outside world and goes onto the beach but then nearly dies (he’s a fish;;;). Luckily, little Yuri saves him and brings/drags him home because he has no idea what to do (what do you do with a merman??). He puts him in the bathtub and they spend the next few weeks together as Viktor heals <3 //with Yuri secretly wishing he could stay a bit longer//. (Yuri’s parents are also away on vacation. Yuri has told Mari about the merman in their bathtub but she doesn’t actually believe him and thinks he’s just playing pretend in the bathroom so she doesn’t use it). BUTTTTT one day, Viktor suddenly disappears ;o;;; The beautiful mysterious merman is gone!! And Yuri is very sad and when he tries to tell his parents and his sister, they don’t believe him;;; //protect him asdfjkl;// and Yuri talks to Vicchan about it. Eventually, Yuri forgets about the merman he saved //and how he (indirectly) pROPOSED to him cOUGHS// //and he even made little matching “friendship” rings to match// and Vicchan dies :’))))

A FEW YEARS LATER;;;; GUESS WHO APPEARS IN HIS BATHTUB BUTT ASS NAKED ;A;;; <3 And this time Viktor is human too!! And claims to be Yuri’s fiance!! And Yuri is just overwhelmed (why is there a hot naked man in my bathtub) and confused :’D He didn’t know how to explain to others so Viktor has to pretend to be his coach until they can figure out how get him back to sea as a merman;;; //but Viktor plans on staying shhh//. Makkachin is a dog fish and Yurio also temporarily becomes a human to try to get Viktor back to sea but,,,, yeh that didn’t work *7* Viktor also cries to Makkachin after he realized Yuri doesn’t remember him ;v;;;

Will Yuri ever remember his long lost lover?? Will Yurio manage to get his instructor back to sea?? Will Viktor be able to pull off a game of pretend?? Will Yuri fall in love once again??

who knows :’D

  • Hufflepuff: Have you started studying for next weeks exams?
  • Ravenclaw: Study?
  • Hufflepuff: Yeah, study. Like review the class material before you are tested on it.
  • Ravenclaw: I don't do this "study" that you speak of.
  • Hufflepuff: Then how do you get good grades?
  • Ravenclaw: ...
  • Ravenclaw: I don't...
Thrive // h.h

A/N: wow I went overboard with this and it’s really all over the place so if you’re confused feel free to message me so I can make things clearer.

This is my first imagine for Harry Hook so I don’t really have his character down yet, also I really hate the ending but I didn’t want it to go on forever so I needed to finish it up.

Being the fifth wheel in a group of some of the most infamous VK’s has never been Y/N’s ideal life, but when approached by the four most feared kids on an island, one does not simply say no.

She hangs around as almost a form of protection, the stigma of the four keeping others away from her. Almost like a security blanket, she can count on having a place in the corner of Mal’s apartment, even if she only stood in the shadows.

Then one day that protection vanishes, the core four summoned to Auradon on Prince Ben’s orders, leaving her behind with nothing.

Two months later she makes her way down an alley way, tugging down the sleeves on her jacket as she nears Ursula’s Chip Shop.

Practically the entire restaurant freezes as she enters, drawing the attention of two teens in particular.

“Well well well,” the teal haired girl sing-songs, dropping a tray onto a table as she walks by, “what do we have here?”

She walks up to the girl, eyebrows raised.

“Tell me Harry,” Uma asks, circling around the her, “are we taking in strays?”

“Hm, I dunno,” the boy replies, smirk on his face, “she’s cute though, maybe we should keep her. I could use another play thing.”

“I just came for food,” Y/N replies, crossing her arms over her chest, “not to join some kiddy pirate crew.”

Uma place a hand on Harry’s chest before he can rush forward, her eyebrows raised slightly.

“Impressive,” she mutters, nodding, “take a seat, I’ll have a server sent your way.”

The girl sits down on a stool, all to aware of the boy who now occupies the seat next to her.

“It’s a shame darlin’,” he drawls, leaning his chin on his hand, “we could’ve had lots of fun together.”

“Never thought you’d want anything to do with me,” she replies, raising an eyebrow, “last I checked I was part of Mal’s crew, not Uma’s.”

“And last time I checked,” Harry smirked, “your little crew are now frolicking around the fields of Auradon, and you’re still here. No crew, no friends, no nothing.”

The girl clenches her fist under the table, swallowing back her words.

“Your point?” She asks.

The pirate smirks, twirling his hook around in his hand.

“Just plotting love,” he says, standing up, “I’ll see you ‘round.”

That is the first of many encounters with the infamous pirate teen, it seems as if every time she turns a corner he’s there, a smirk on his face, the hook in his hand and a backhanded complement dripping off his lips.

Four months after Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos left for Auradon she’s walking through the Isle, hands shoved in her pockets.

“Hello there love,” he says from behind her, a half smile appearing on her face, “fancy seeing you here.”

“Is it?” She asks, keeping her stride as Harry falls into step next to her. “Don’t you know where I am at all times? Isn’t that the job of a stalker?”

“I’m offended you would even think I would stoop to that level,” he says, placing a hand on his heart in fake shock.

“What do you want Hook?” She questions, leaning against the brick wall.

“I’ve got a proposition for you,” he replies.

“Do you now?” She smirks. “And is this your proposition or Uma’s?”

“Both,” Harry answers, twirling his necklace around in his fingers, “come to the chip shop tonight, two a.m. We want to talk.”

With that, the pirate turns on his heel and walks down the alley.

“And if I don’t?” She calls.

“You will.”

And she does, at two a.m. on the dot she shoves her way into the shop, one hand on her hip.

“She’s a prompt one,” Uma says from the back.

“Mother always taught me to be on time,” she says sarcastically, making her way towards her.

“Mother’s always give the best advice,” Uma replies, gesturing for the girl to sit down.

“So what is this,” Y/N asks, “I’ve already told you that I don’t have any info on Mal and her friends, haven’t heard from any of them since they left.”

“Nah it ain’t about that,” Uma shakes her head, leaning on her elbows on the counter, “I want…well, we want you to join our crew. Not an entry level type thing, I want you up with us, with me and Harry and Gil. I wanna add a fourth to our ranks.”

“Why me?” She questions, leaning forward. “You could get anyone on this island, especially since Mal left, so why me?”

“Power,” Uma shrugs, “simple as that. You were on Mal’s crew, you’ve got status here. You need a crew and I need a fourth member, figured we could help each other out.”

“You’d be willing to work with me?” Y/N questions, noticing Harry lurking in the background. “And your crew would too?”

“They don’t have a choice,” Uma replies, “but yes, I am willing.”

“And you?” Y/N throws her question at Harry, keeping her eyes trained on Uma.

She sees Harry smirk from the corner of her eye.

“Welcome aboard princess.”

A few days later Y/N joins the pirate crew aboard their ship, arms crossed over her chest.

“I’ll teach you the ropes,” Harry says, “literally and figuratively. You’ll pick it up in no time.”

The two teens spend practically every minute of every day together for the next few weeks, becoming incredibly close incredibly fast.

“We’ve been working hard all day love,” Harry says, leaning against the mast as the girl turns to look at him, “let’s go on a walk.”

“You sure Uma is okay with that?” She asks, quirking an eyebrow.

“Uma doesn’t control every single thing I do,” he rolls his eyes, “c'mon, lets have a rest.”

“Walk me down the beach?” She suggests, holding her hand out to him.

Harry takes it gladly.

“After you princess.”

The two teens walk down the sand, hands still intertwined.

“So I know that ‘dating’ isn’t really a thing here,” she starts, “but you and Uma…is that a thing or?”

“Me and Uma?” The pirate laughs. “Nah, we’re just mates, the best of friends I would say. We’ve been friends since we were toddlers. Why?”

“Just curious,” she shrugs, staring at the shore line.

“I would call dating a thing here though,” Harry says, “it maybe be different than what they have there at Boradon,” Y/N laughs at his nickname for the mainland, “but it’s still a thing. We may be villains, but we’re allowed to fall in love, to get as close to a happy ending as possible.”

“You think we deserve that?” Y/N asks. “Cause I think the people over there think we deserve to pay for the sins of our parents.”

“Doesn’t matter what they think,” Harry replies, “they don’t know what life’s like over here, they don’t get a say in what we deserve.”

“I like that,” she smiles.

“I like you,” Harry says, biting down slightly on his lip as he looks at her.

“Yeah?” She asks, a half smile on her face as the boy nods. “I like you too.”

Harry’s smirk widens, his hand squeezing hers as they continue to walk down the beach.

“We should head back soon,” Y/N says quietly, “I promised Uma I’d cover a shift at the shop tonight.”

“Kiss me first,” Harry says, turning her around so they’re face to face instead of next to each other, “then we’ll go back.”

She does as he asks, smiling as she presses her lips to his. She feels his hand cup her cheek, the slight sea breeze blowing through her hair.

“More of that later?” She questions, causing Harry to smirk again.

“Much more of that later, love,” he says, taking his hat off of his head and placing it on hers, “much more.”

Six months after Mal left the Isle, she came back. Y/N sits in Ursula’s shop, she felt Mal’s presence before Harry even told her.

“She’s back isn’t she,” the girl asks as her boyfriend plops into the seat next to her, “I can feel it.”

“Yeah, she is,” Harry replies, “saw her at Tremaine’s salon, how are you doing?”

“I guess ’m okay,” she shrugs, “but that girl essentially left me for dead, right now all I want to do is see the look on her face when she realizes I thrived while she was gone, that I don’t need her or her posse to run this town.”

“You’re so hot when you’re revengeful,” Harry growls, surging forward and practically smashing their lips together in a heated mess.

“Oh get a room you two,” Uma says a few minutes later, practically throwing a tray down on the bar for Gil.

Harry pulls away from her, only to press another short, bruising kiss to her lips.

“I’ve got a plan,” Uma says, leaning against the counter, “you ready for this?”

Her question is pointed at Y/N, the girl smirks.

“I’m ready for anything.”

Much to Y/N’s surprise, Mal actually shows up to the shop. Uma practically growls, walking up to the purple haired girl as Harry slides an arm around Y/N’s shoulders.

“How ya doin’?” He whispers, lips ghosting over her ear as he kisses the skin gently.

“She may have changed her look, but she hasn’t changed her attitude,” the girl says, “she hated being bad, deep down she always wanted to be like the kids in Auradon, no amount of hair dye and leather can change that.”

As Mal and Uma talk, the purple haired girl’s eyes shift around the shop, landing on the couple near the back.

Y/N presses kisses to Harry’s jaw line, taking the tri-horned hat off of his head and placing it on hers, a smirk playing on her lips as she sees Mal turn her gaze back to Uma.

“And what exactly did that accomplish?” Harry questions playfully.

“Maybe nothing, probably nothing,” Y/N shrugs, smiling up at him, “but it was fun.”

“You’re evil,” Harry mumbles.

“You love it.”

“Hmm,” he hums, grin on his face, “that I do.”

“Walk me home?” She asks, intertwining their fingers.

“After you,” Harry replies, opening the back door for them to leave.

The couple makes their way down the alley, Harry’s arm around her shoulders and their fingers intertwined.

“No no I’m serious,” Y/N says with a light laugh, “she froze the entire kingdom and then turned her own sister to ice.”

“Sounds like she belongs over here,” Harry replies, “not in Auradon.”

“Must be because she’s of royal blood,” the girl shrugs, “but who knows.”

The conversation comes to a halt when Y/N’s eyes land on her used-to-be friends standing in the alley way.

“Y/N?” Evie questions with surprise. “You’re still here?”

“Where else would I be?” Y/N shoots back harshly, Harry squeezing her hand gently.

“What’s going on here?” Jay asks, hopping down from his perch above the alley.

“Just trying to get home,” Y/N replies, “what are you all doing here?”

“Getting Ben,” Carlos answers, glaring at Harry, “no thanks to this clown.”

Y/N places a hand on Harry’s chest, holding him back.

“Just leave it,” she whispers, shaking her head, “they’re not worth it.”

“You’ve changed,” Jay says, crossing his arms, “last thing I remember you wouldn’t go near Uma or her crew.”

“Yeah well,” she shrugs, looking up at Harry, “I had to survive somehow, the only friends I had deserted me. And things just…happened.”

Harry kisses her forehead, Carlos’s jaw practically hitting the floor.

“Well that’s…” he searches for words, eye darting around the alley, “new.”

“Time to go?” Harry asks in a whisper, the girl nodding in agreement.

“Good luck getting your friend back,” she says, “you’re gonna need it.”

The two of them swagger off, Harry spinning the hook around in his hand.

“You’ve gained more confidence since they left,” he says, “it’s hot. I’m proud of you.”

“All thanks to you,” she replies, “when I was friends with them I felt…weak. Like I was a charity case or something, but when I’m with you and Uma and Gil I feel…powerful. I feel like I matter.”

“You do matter,” Harry replies, “and we’re gonna rule Auradon together. And no one is going to ever make you feel like you don’t matter again.”

“Promise?” She questions, smile on her face as she cups his cheeks.

“Promise,” he smiles, kissing her hard, “we’re gonna rule the world princess.”

“We ride with the tide.”

I’m now entering my third semester of my second year college, and I think I’ve gathered enough experience in college to give relevant tips to incoming freshmen or just regular old college students. I’m not an expert in getting all As, not getting those 4.0s in every subject, but I have maintained my place as a Dean’s Lister since my first sem freshmen year, so I think I do have an idea on what I’m talking about. Feel free to take my advice! (or not).

homework/projects
1. seriously, once you get information on your homework/project, start them immediately. DO NOT wait till last minute to complete them because you will regret it. Do them as soon as the professor assigns it to you so you won’t spend the next few weeks stressing out on the amount of homework you have.

2. start creative projects first. unless you can pull creativity out of your hat whenever you need it, I highly suggest you start creative projects as soon as  you get them because trust me when I say you do not want to be decorating/designing shit when the due date is tomorrow.

3. do your best in every assignment; trust me, the points will count at the end of the semester.

4. do extra credit work and treat it as priority work; excess points are cushion points.

5. group projects suck but here’s a good rule to keep in mind: if you’re the leader, delegate those tasks (read up on division of labor). if you’re a group member, do the delegated task as best as you can. know your goal as a group; are you guys in it to get to know each other and build rapport? then the output won’t matter as much and focus on helping and getting to know each other. Is the output the most important part? Then be real with each other; if you can’t do this task, then don’t do it & instead give it to someone else. Some may not even get any work at all, because what matters is the output.

friends/other people/professors
1.  keep your circle small. your friends are there to guide you, support you and tell you when you’re wrong. find the crowd you vibe with the most because trust me, the right friends are medicine to all college problems

2. those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. keep that in mind, my dear.

3. love the professor? do your best in their class. hate the professor? do your best in their class. it doesn’t matter whether you hate the prof or not; they still hold your grade at the end of the semester. if you really can’t stand them, just think of it as training your ability to be humble (and not punch someone).

4. talk to your professors. they’re not as bad as you think they are.

5. seriously, go to their consultation hours when you think you’re failing.

class/notes
1. TAKE NOTES. cannot emphasize this enough. don’t rely on anyone to take your notes for you; it’s your education, it’s time you take responsibility for it.

2. sit in front of class if you believe you’ll get distracted if you sit in the back.

3. talk to your seatmate! you’ll need them when you get sick and can’t come to class.

4. again, TAKE NOTES. don’t photograph the slide. write that shit down, or type it if you don’t want to write. bottom line, don’t picture it.

5. revise, revise, revise. if you want to understand the material, a good way to go about it is to revise your notes in a way YOU can understand.

having fun/relationships
1. have fun! i was too stressed when I was a freshman all because I focused too much on getting 4.0s. It’s possible to get 4.0s and still have fun! having fun doesn’t need to be about drinking (although if it is, then stay safe doing it!) it could be reading a book or hanging out with your friends, whatever works for you and keeps your mind off school for awhile.

2. it’s okay to have crushes! they could be your inspiration (but don’t let them be your distraction)

3. talk to that cute guy you’ve been classmates with ever since February who you can’t stop looking at. you’ve got nothing to lose.

4. relationships are a good source of support, love and care but pls don’t forget your friends.

5. learn how to have fun, and college will be easier.

Reminder: having fun does not equal to slacking off.

I guess that’s it! If you guys want more tips/advice/academic or college realted, I can write more or you can just hit up my ask!

Activities for Different Energy Levels

I have been in a low-energy state so frequently lately that I feel like I’m accomplishing nothing and contributing nothing to my life or anyone else’s. To try to combat this, I made a list of things I like to do (or don’t hate doing) that can help me get through a day. The less time you waste trying to decide what to do with your time, the better, because that shit is so exhausting.

I felt like I’d share this in case anyone wants some ideas for when you feel totally overwhelmed, exhausted, bored, and frustrated. Here goes!

Low Energy

▪ Listen to audiobooks or podcasts
▪ Edit photos on apps like pixlr or instagram
▪ Look up and bookmark some recipes you’d like to make soon
▪ Play guitar, laying down if needed
▪ Research or plan out future volunteering
▪ Read about meditation from a book or article
▪ Research or plan out steps needed to do a future DIY or art project
▪ Do some light stretching while laying down or sitting
▪ Do some basic chair yoga or tai chi while following an instructional YouTube video
▪ Bookmark new resources for managing symptoms
▪ Make lists or draw diagrams of things you’re interested in
▪ Watch a Ted Talk or informative video
▪ Read using a kindle or book
▪ Scan through previously bookmarked resources
▪ Watch YouTube videos you’ve marked as “Watch Later"

Medium Energy

▪ Build a model from a kit or printed paper template
▪ Socialize via text or online social media
▪ Research future volunteering opportunities or Return to Work programs
▪ Organize, rearrange, tidy up a section of your personal area
▪ Make plans for later this week or next week
▪ Manage medication: call doctors, pharmacy. Refill your pill calendar.
▪ Install updates on your computer
▪ Take a long, hot shower. Use nice soap.
▪ Filing: sort your papers into their folders.
▪ Spend some time with a pet, cuddle.

High Energy

▪ Socialize in-person
▪ Learn something new: languages, coding, coping techniques, art, new music, DIY projects.
▪ Cook something healthy for today or for the week.
▪ Creative projects: start one and do your best to finish it.
▪ Plan something and execute it, no matter how small. Bonus points if there is a tangible proof of accomplishment like a model or painting or a song you learned.
▪ Go walk around the mall or Target. Doesn’t matter where, you don’t have to buy anything, just get out of the house and walk a little.

How to Create a Language Learning Schedule (+ Printable)

I recently set up a new language learning schedule for myself and I thought some of you might find my approach useful, so I decided to create a short guide and a printable (you can download it as a pdf here). Lots of people struggle with finding a way to study several languages at once (I do, too, as I’m currently learning 5 languages) and I think having a good plan is essential!

As you can see, it’s quite simple. Once you have downloaded the printable, you can create a perfect schedule for yourself in a few easy steps:

1. Define your goals

First of all, you should know why you need this schedule and for how long you want to stick with it. Do you want to plan your studies for next week, the next month or the entire term or (school) year? What exactly do you want to learn until the end of that time period? How many words, how many grammar topics, how many levels in your favorite language learning app? You need to answer these questions in order to be able to estimate how much time you should / can / want to spend on your target languages every day.

2. List your languages and resources

Secondly, you should make a list in which you mention the resources, methods and tools you want to use for each language. It should look something like this (the more detailed, the better):

3. Divide your resources into categories

I put six categories on the printable. Use a color code to show which resource belongs in which category:

4. Almost there…

There are a few things you should consider before creating the actual schedule:

  • How much work and time do you need to put in to reach your goals?
  • How much time do you actually have in a normal week? When do you want to study?
  • Are all of your target languages equally important? How often do you want to study language 1,2,3,…?
  • Do you have any classes that you have to prepare for / do homework for? If yes, you can include that in your schedule!
  • Do you want to avoid studying two similar languages in one day?
  • Do you want to focus on a special skill?

5. Set up your schedule!

Goals, resources, time management - you’re ready to make a detailed plan! Here is a random example:

In case you were wondering “why do the whole coloring thing and list your resources and everything” - I think this is a way to avoid procrastination. Let’s say it’s Friday, so you should be learning French vocab (orange) and practise listening (green) in Spanish. Now, if you never made a list with all your resources, you might end up wasting your time on tumblr or google searching for “Spanish listening practice” and reading arbitrary posts or watching videos you already know without really doing anything because you just don’t know what to do. If you consider your list, you will know that for Spanish, you will either have to watch a movie or listen to some music, and for French, you will have to do either Memrise or Anki. As I said before, this gets easier if your list is more detailed. Actual tasks like “watch a movie on website x about y with subtitles in language z” will force you to work with what you’ve got and use the methods and resources you already know. I read so many posts like “I keep downloading textbooks for that language but I never use any of them, I just keep downloading more” and this won’t happen to you if you use the list!

I guess that’s pretty much it… I hope you like the printable, enjoy your studies!

Working as a revisionist on OK K.O.!: Let’s be Heroes has been a really interesting experience, and I wanted to take a bit of time to explain what my role has been since it feels somewhat unique even among other CN productions.

The role of a revisionist is typically a final layer of polish to the finished storyboards by addressing situational changes like making sure characters are on model, correcting staging/screen direction, drawing in backgrounds, adding additional breakdown poses and doing whatever we can to translate the boards in the clearest way for next stage of the pipeline (animation & design). The storyboard supervisor, Jeremy Polgar (http://jpolgar1.tumblr.com/), will usually go through each episode adding pink notes that Anna Craig (http://killapede.tumblr.com/) and myself will divide between ourselves and spend the next week addressing. Because the board artists are so talented, and because Ian and Toby embrace the rough edges and inconsistencies of animation, the demand for meticulous revision work isn’t as high and occasionally leaves us opportunities to push the action/animation in the show.

top 5 times katsuki yuuri seduced the whole world (deliberately or not)

I think I’ve been accidentally pulled into the “5 Things” meme! Please don’t send more, haha. Regular prompts and headcanons are still welcome!

1. After Yuuri wins silver at the GPF and Victor announces his return to competitive skating, they attend the banquet, and apparently the ISU learned nothing from the previous year because it’s open bar. However, unlike last year, Yuuri doesn’t get drunk on 14 flutes of champagne and drag people into a dance-off. Instead, he gets drunk on six Long Island iced teas and gives an incredibly dazed and visibly turned-on Victor a lap dance in the middle of the floor to Nasty Naughty Boy. Someone (Phichit, you traitor) films it and posts it to YouTube, where it blows past 73 million views in a single weekend and trends on Facebook for two entire weeks. Thousands of people all over the world post their own reaction videos in response, the most popular being Minami Kenjirou’s, which is just 14 minutes of him alternating between sobbing hysterically and shoving paper towels up his nose.

2. Yuuri’s in the middle of giving an interview with ABC News after winning gold at the Olympics when a little girl crashes the set and takes it upon herself to plop herself into his lap. The interviewer moves to cut to commercial, but Yuuri tells her that it’s fine. He turns his attention to the girl and compliments her sparkly barrette. Very seriously, the girl thanks him, tells him her name (Malia), age (7 and a half), her teacher’s name (Mr. Gaeney, second grade teacher at P.S. 114) and that she’s going to skate with him at the Olympics someday. To his credit, Yuuri doesn’t laugh; instead, he hugs the girl close and says that he’s looking forward to it. About an hour later, Victor posts a positive pregnancy test to Instagram.

3. A video surfaces of a younger Yuuri and Phichit doing the dance to Bye, Bye, Bye on the ice. The line of Yuuri’s shoulders are soft, not a hint of fear in the way he moves his hips nor a single brushstroke of anxiety in the deep bow of his smile, and he keeps time with Phichit perfectly. It gets retweeted by Lance Bass, who says, @ yurikatsuki nice moves! dm me the next time you’re in la! #hihihi. Victor spends the week trolling Lance with terrible N*Synce photoshoots from the early 2000s and scoring them out of a possible 10. None of them ever make it to a 6.

4. At Worlds 2018, Yuuri debuts a routine that he choreographed himself to Lady Gaga’s Dance in the Dark, which the commentators say is his attempt at a cooler, sexier Yuuri Katsuki. Victor has to be physically restrained from joining Yuuri on the ice, while six people in the audience have to be hospitalized for extreme blood loss. Yuri Plisetsky’s face becomes Tumblr’s new favorite reaction gif.

5. Victor watches from the doorway, thinking of the fey, drunken creature who stole his heart all those years ago, and of the shy boy who wanted so badly to be as good as everyone else thought he was, and marvels at how we pour ourselves into the wide and wondrous spaces that time creates. If someone had told him maybe ten years ago—when he’d believed that perfection could only be found in the thumping bass of nightclubs, in between the thighs of faceless men—that he would be brought to his knees by the sight of his disheveled and sleep-starved husband slowly dancing around a nursery with their infant daughter cradled in his arms, singing softly and off-key, he would have laughed and asked for some of whatever it was that person was on.

But now, himself a much different man than the one he’d been at twenty, at twenty-five, at twenty-seven, he’s smarter. Wiser. Happier. And he’s never seen anything sexier.

Hunting’s a total blast until you hit your heat. In between each cycle, you only know how much fun it is to catch a case, to get on the road and feel the rumble of Dean’s car beneath you, all open windows and loud music. The fights are always rough, but in the way that makes you feel strong, in a way that makes your muscles ache with anticipation just to think about it. And of course, there’s the feeling of knowing that you saved someone, that you stopped one small little evil and left the world a little better for it.

But then your heat hits, and you remember. Hunting is not ideal for an Omega.

Sometimes your forever is someone else’s for now. You’ve been through this before. I can see it in your eyes. It happens like this: you plan your life around a person who doesn’t know what he’s doing next month or next week or for the next twenty minutes. And when it comes to wandering souls, even all the love in the world can’t make them stay.
Or this: you give without being asked, handful after handful of yourself. He takes with big hands and hardly ever spends the night, but you blindly hope it will grow into something more. Something wonderful. It must, you think. It has to. But when his pockets are full and a new soul is calling, when the world tilts into clarity and he finds himself awake in the middle of the night, you’ll learn more than your fair share about heartbreak.
And I know, I know, it’s hard to try again. To give and plan and hope without worrying about the burn. It’s hard, yes, but you have to. You just have to. Because one day, I promise, your forevers will align. Listen to me. One day, someone will teach you how to love again.

How to Practice Effectively

Mastering any physical skill, be it performing a pirouette, playing an instrument, or throwing a baseball, takes practice. Practice is the repetition of an action with the goal of improvement, and it helps us perform with more ease, speed, and confidence.

There are many theories that attempt to quantify the number of hours, days, and even years of practice that it takes to master a skill. While we don’t yet have a magic number, we do know that mastery isn’t simply about the amount of hours of practice. It’s also the quality and effectiveness of that practice. Effective practice is consistent, intensely focused, and targets content or weaknesses that lie at the edge of one’s current abilities. So if effective practice is the key, how can we get the most out of our practice time?

Below are 4 tips for practicing better for just about anything!

1. Focus on the task at hand. Minimize potential distractions by turning off the computer or TV and putting your cell phone on airplane mode. In one study, researchers observed 260 students studying. On average, those students were able to stay on task for only six minutes at a time. Laptops, smartphones, and particularly Facebook were the root of most distractions.

2. Start out slowly or in slow-motion. Coordination is built with repetitions, whether correct or incorrect. If you gradually increase the speed of the quality repetitons, you have a better chance of doing them correctly.

3. Next, frequent repetitions with allotted breaks are common practice habits of elite performers. Studies have shown that many top athletes, musicians, and dancers spend 50-60 hours per week on activities related to their craft. Many divide their time used for effective practice into multiple daily practice sessions of limited duration.

4. Finally, practice in your brain in vivid detail. It’s a bit surprising, but a number of studies suggest that once a physical motion has been established, it can be reinforced just by imagining it. In one study, 144 basketball players were divided into two groups. Group A physically practiced one-handed free throws while Group B only mentally practiced them. When they were tested at the end of the two week experiment, the intermediate and experienced players in both groups had improved by nearly the same amount.

As scientists get closer to unraveling the secrets of our brains, our understanding of effective practice will only improve. In the meantime, effective practice is the best way we have of pushing our individual limits, achieving new heights, and maximizing our potential.

Spending the afternoon at the library. It’s pretty empty and I love it!! My second semester started last week and I already have tons of deadlines (starting next week). A lot of reading reports, presentations and papers to do! Motivation, please stay with me and don’t go away.

(Also starting that 100 days of productivity. Let’s see how it goes!)

In other news, I made a studygram!!! It’s @raquelstudies in case you want to follow!
