wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings

i cant believe billy’s favourite movie is the sound of music

im listening to the sound of music soundtrack just so i can think about billy kaplan dramatically singing to it all

let me propose this:

-toddler billy being entranced by so long, farewell but he cant really handle all the words yet all so he settles with singing goodbYEEEEE to anyone leaving the house for the next three months

-child billy fully going for the hills are alive, standing up on the sofa to belt it despite his family’s protests

-teenage billy driving teddy crazy by knowing all of the words to how do you solve a problem like maria. it would be so cute except hes been singing it for four days straight now please billy stop

-billy kaplan the night before his seventeenth birthday singing I AM SIXTEEN GOING ON SEVENTEEN to anyone who will listen

-billy singing my favourite things and doesn’t bother to stop his magic from responding. wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings go soaring past the window. snowflakes start to fall from the ceiling and they stay on his nose and eyelashes. teddy is suddenly wearing a white dress with a blue satin sash.

-kate and billy trying to sing all the parts of do re mi between them

-billy tentatively proposing that their first dance at their wedding be to edelweiss. teddy considering it because that’s his favourite song from the soundtrack, and it makes him think of his mum

-adult billy singing i have confidence to his child while taking her with him about the house, making her giggle as he does his chores by magic and makes faces at his baby girl

-teddy offering to make the family tea. do you want it with jam and bread? opportunity glints in billys eyes. TEA, TEA WITH JAM, JAM AND BREAD he sings, and their 7 year old comes through to the kitchen to join in, and teddy can only laugh exasperatedly

Ok, i don't want to be a bother or anything. But I have this head canon that Lucy starts singing My Favorite Things from sound of music to Natsu when he feels down, or sad he can't 'protect' anyone. Ah! It just sounds so sweet, and I can't think of how to write it! Your writings are AMAZING!!

You’re no bother! And I actually had to look this one up because I’d never seen the movie before x) Thanks!

I hope you like it :)) The lyrics are from The Sound of Music

“Oh come on Natsu, it was a lucky shot.”

I grumbled in her pillow, glaring at the wall in front of me.

“You still protected us right? If it weren’t for you then Wendy would’ve been eaten,” Lucy insisted, sitting down next to me on the bed.

I buried my head in her sheets, groaning out as I felt her press another bandaid on my back.

“He still knocked me out and you had to save me,” I sighed, furrowing my eyes at her.

She rolled her eyes, slapping down another bandage on me, “Well sorry little old me had to save you and damage your pride. I’ll just let you get eaten next time around so you can sink with your ship.”

I fell quiet then, easing my gaze at her. “Sorry.”

“Mmhm,” she hummed, smoothing down a hand on my back. “He was a big one, it’s not your fault. You were just careless.”

I sighed out, leaning on my arm and gazed up to her beside me. She smiled a bit at me, wrinkling her nose.

“Can you do the thing?” I asked, giving her big eyes.

She immediately rolled her own, shooting me a look. “No.”

“C'mon please?? You know it cheers me up.” I pleaded.

“Me acting completely stupid?” She scoffed, smiling, “You saw the movie *once.”

“But I like it when you sing it,” I told her.

She sighed out, annoyed, but I saw her defenses weakening. Lucy showed me this movie once, she said her and her mom used to watch it all the time when she was little, so I decided to sit down and watch it with her. Next thing I knew I was walking in on her singing this song from it and I remember I had never felt happier in my life right then.

“Fine,” she agreed, reluctantly.

I grinned widely, my insides churning, “Thanks Lucy!”

She waved me off, biting down on her cheek as I sat up, feeling her hands on the scratches on my chest.

“Raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,” she sang, staring at me blandly, “Brown paper packages tied up with strings, these are a few of my favorite things.”

I saw her lean down and start stitching me up with a gash, her breath hitting my chest.

“Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels, doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles,” she pierced my skin, but I didn’t so much as flinch, “Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings, these are a few of my favorite things.”

I stared at her as she sang, and for some reason I will never ever know, I just felt absolute joy as I listened to her. I could barely keep the grin off my face, even as she was poking and prodding my skin, it was like I didn’t even feel it. She always sang really nicely, though she never liked doing it in front of people so much. I had to catch her echoing from the shower just to be able to hear a verse.

“When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I’m feeling sad,” she purposely looked up to me then, giving me an annoyed smile, “I simply remember my favorite things, then I don’t feel so bad.”

She snipped the string from my stitch at that last word, making me flinch, but I only felt my grin grow wider. She sighed, setting down all her utensils and gave me a short look.

“You all good now? Or do you want me to read you to sleep as well?” She rose an eyebrow, smirking.

I laughed, pulling her into a hug she writhed from, pressing my cheek against her collarbone. “Thank you.”

I didn’t know how, but I heard her roll her eyes. “You’re such a child.”

She hugged me back despite, then pulled away harshly, “Now quit, you’re gonna reopen your wounds.”

I laid back down on her bed, seeing her stand up and head back towards her kitchen for something. I watched her move around in the archway, before coming back out and looking straight at me. She gave me a funny look, raising a brow with a vine of grapes in her hand.

“Why do you always stare at me after I finish singing?” She asked, eating a grape slowly.

I shrugged at her, giving her a grin and she just shook her head, sinking down in her couch. I don’t know why I did, it was just something I felt like doing. I’ve always liked that song, not because I necessarily liked whiskers or raindrops, but because I just loved Lucy singing it.

She was one of my favorite things. And I found it utterly ironic how she sang about my favorite things when she was probably my most favorite.

Maybe if I get her to sing it enough times, she’ll finally catch a hint. Sheesh, and she calls me the dense one.
