karate by babymetal is really good and much better than their older stuff.

Thank you for the suggestion! I actually checked out that song. I guess my core problem comes down to the fact that it almost feels like a pop group in that the BAND are obviously insanely talented, but they stand in the back being faceless while the three girls are essentially treated as the only members. I’m not denying their talent or anything (though their voices do annoy me greatly lmao) but I mean…it feels more like it’s about the spectacle. I mean fuck, choreographed dance routines? WHYYYYY? This is the OPPOSITE of what it should be, the backup dancers taking center-stage while the actual musicians are quietly ignored. It’s metal Visual Kei

The sound is also just…really, really overproduced for me. I’ve never heard such a clean and inoffensive production job on any band before, but that’s sort of a minor gripe.

I know I’m being really harsh on the girls here. Even if their voices annoy the hell out of me, I’m sure they’re all very nice and I appreciate their effort to make music nonetheless. Just…please, for god’s sake, PLEASE lose the dance routines lmao, and treat the band like a band, and not studio mercenary musicians
