Your focus was divided by watching the live interview Justin was currently doing and your phone. Watching twitter blow up in real time because of the interview was so amusing. Just seeing everyone freak out because this is really the first serious interview he’s done in ages, even if it was the same old questions over and over.
It was almost over with though, the show only lasting for half an hour, but you were already starting to feel your legs cramp up from your spot just behind the cameras. That’s when something happened that was the very last thing on your mind.
Justin’s phone vibrated and the screen lit up in your lap. You put your phone down and lifted his up, your eyebrows scrunched together. Selena’s name, number, and picture popped up. Why would she call him? They were over, no more dating. It’s been years since they broke up and, to your knowledge, they hadn’t talked to each other at least since you and Justin started dating.
The call ended but no voice mail was left. A second later a text came through on his phone from her.
Love the interview babe.
Babe? Was she serious right now? What the hell?
You got up, put your phone in your pocket, and left Justin’s phone on the chair. Some one would find it. You just didn’t care right now, but all you knew right then was that Selena had tried calling Justin. Called him durring a live interview. Did she expect that he was going to pick up the phone? Ou guessed that maybe all Selena wanted was to see a live reaction to her calling. So maybe it was a good thing you had his phone. But you could not deal with this. Leaving through the door marked exit, you didn’t spare a glance at anyone. You doubted anyone even saw you leave.
Outside the cold December air hit you like a ton of bricks and you wrapped your sweatshirt tighter around you. Your sneakers hit the icy pavement with a dull thud as you practically stormed over to the car you and Justin drove here. But upon reaching the car you realized you didn’t have the keys. Justin did.
Sighing, you turned around and headed to the street, not caring where your feet took you, but hopefully it was far from this building. The street was fairly empty, no one walking on the sidewalks. Probably because it was way too cold. Stores passed you by, as well as the occasional car but nothing held your attention. Your mind was just so filled with so many questions. Of all the people to call and text Justin, it had to be his ex. The ex who you knew was way hotter than you, a celebrity, and could literally ask for anything and get it. You were angry, upset, hurt, jealous. How could this happen. How dare Selena call him babe. How dare she to begin with because she knew you two were dating. Had been for almost a year now. The whole thing was very bold.
You turned around the corner and recognized where you were. Just another block and then you would be in a nice warm place that you would always be welcome at.
Your parents house.
Carefully you stepped up the icy steps to the front door, knocking somewhat gently. It was almost midnight and you hoped someone would be awake, the cold finally starting to sink into your bones. You probably should have put more clothes on but, then again, you weren’t planning on walking anywhere when you threw on skinny jeans and a sweatshirt.
The front door opened, much to your relief, and you dad gave you a concerned look. He didn’t say anything, just stepped aside and let you in. The house was dark except for one light on in the living room. Your mom was sitting on the couch, feet propped on the coffee table, the television offering a soft glow against her white socks. You slowly walked towards her and she sat up, reaching towards you.
That’s when the tears started flowing down your face and you stumbled into her arms. You dad sat down on the other end of the couch, turning the television off.
“What happened?” And in between sobs and sniffles you tried to explain what happened. You knew that you were swearing and your parents had a strict “no swearing” policy but you just couldn’t care. You were so upset that swearing was the only calm way to get your anger out.
A while later, your parents bid you goodnight while you dozed off on the couch.Crashing here for the night was the best idea. You just knew you couldn’t face the flat that Justin was probably in right now. Probably calling you, texting you. Calling Selena.
So be it then.
