why rain is a good thing

Aries —
there was a war in your childhood home, and you can still remember the fires, how the blood was
pretty and sick on the bathroom’s pristine tiles, your mother’s still warm body limp in the tub.
breathe in through the mouth: in, out, in. you are not guilty. her life is not on your hands.

Taurus —
it is okay to love things more than you love people; practical, even.
people have left you, people will leave you – things, though, ah! things will not abandon you.
buy yourself something nice. it is the least bad out of all your choices.

Gemini —
you die every night and are reborn at dawn; you are a walking graveyard,
an army of yesterdays’ ghosts, and you no longer remember who you were at the beginning.
do not weep for the stranger that once inhabited your bones.

Cancer —
you are in love with the idea of love more than you are in love with your lovers;
that is why all your relationships are fleeting, why you are always falling apart.
all the same, smile when he proposes. pretend you do not know how this is going to end.

Leo —
oh, you poor, poor thing. all you have ever wanted was love’s sunlight, but all you ever got
were the thunderstorms, the clouds above your head heavy with sorrow, and so you chose
to drown out the rain between the thighs of a lover. do not regret it, for they were good nights.

Virgo —
you cradled your heart all your life with such care, and when the day came for you
to hand it to another, it shattered like glass in their grip. they did not mean to hurt you, you know.
they just wanted to hold on, afraid it will slip through their fingers like sand.

Libra —
you are the king of bad choices, from lovers to the fights you pick when you are far from sober;
you lost your sanity along the line between what is right and what is not, and you started hungering.
i fear the day your hunger will be quenched – only justice will sate you, and that calls for everyone’s dying.

Scorpio —
you are the one everyone fears: the monster in the closet, the witch at the stake – the devil, falling.
all of this is because they cannot understand you. they fear you like they fear death; instinctively.
do not mind them, for death is a kind god: the sweetest sleep, the darkness from which life is born.

Sagittarius —
some days, you think the sea is but a giant mirror, the vanity of coquettish stars and lazy clouds in passing.
some days, you think it is the fury of our earth mother, her tears and her sorrow saltwater in the breeze.
on all of them, you want to sail its’ lengths; you want to get lost out on the abyss, feel small beneath the sky.

Capricorn —
you learned early on the art of silent war – the war carried by words, sharper than any other blade.
at the same time, you have learned how little you mattered to the world, and so you cast yourself in armor.
i just wish you would learn to love yourself, if only a little. your own words have been cutting you all along.

Aquarius —
there is a sickness in you called longing: you’re wanton, thirsty, hungry, wanting – what, exactly,
well, that is part two, and none of us is really sure. you’re standing here, hands reaching for; come inside.
i will pour us both some wine, and we can pass the waiting time together. one day, you will know what you are lusting after.

Pisces —
all you have ever loved seems to be taken from you, until your house is left an empty, cold thing,
and your soul has been turned into a ruin. do not despair; get up from the floor, dust your clothes.
there are seeds on the upper shelves in the shed. it is a time as good as any to start keeping a garden.

Gray - chances to walk away

When they met at Akane Resort

and didn’t mind the idea of her joining

When she joined the guild….

and he had the biggest smile on his face.

When Ultear intended to kill Juvia…

but he saved her….

When Erza told him to “make things clear”….

but he didn’t respond….

When he DID reject Juvia during the GMG Banquet…

and rejected her scarf…

it contradicted what happened four chapters before, where he had something important to tell her…

and died for her.

In 413 Days, he ran back to find her scarf and wore it….

and apologised to her about it later. (Juvia too.)

He could have refused her Gruvi-bread….

but he didn’t…

Gray could have really walked away when JUVIA suggested it herself….

but he didn’t…

He’s had many opportunities to say no to the things he doesn’t like…..

Many…

many….

times.

So why….

hasn’t he…

said no?

Because just like he stopped the rain for her….

She healed him from the ghosts of his past.

His light…

in his life where he only knew of loss and pain.

Because she reminds him….

to see the good…

Proves to him that she won’t be like the others…

by coming back.

And because, throughout all of this…..

He is grateful that she is always there.

Can we talk about how I’m gonna fuck you up and how you’re not gonna see it coming and how even now my destructive tendencies are coming into play and
that’s why I told you what you said when you were drunk and
that’s why i snapchatted your best friend and
that’s why i told you about that other guy because
i am only good at burning bridges and this is getting too serious too close too much like something good something I don’t deserve so
i’m hitting the ground running, you know?
you won’t even see it coming.
—  god I’m so sorry for letting you think I was something good– lily rain

“Jack, I need you to rescue me.” Bitty clutches his phone tightly, trying to keep it steady.

“Bittle? What’s going on? Where are you?”

Bitty looks out the door at the rain. It’s fat and heavy and he can barely make out the cars he knows are parked a few metres away in the lot.

“I was baking a pie, but Holster had finished all the eggs at breakfast without telling me. He’s done it before–finished the eggs, that is–but he told me last time. So I had the flour on the bench, and spices, and I opened the fridge and–because there was no note, Jack so–”

“Bits?” Jack interrupts. “I need you to do something, okay? For me?”

“Oh. Okay, Jack.”

“Great. Take a deep breath.”

The air is freezing at the entrance, with the doors opening and closing as other shoppers walk in and out. Bitty opens his mouth and does it anyway.

“Good job. Now slowly let it out.”

Bitty blows out and he swears he can see his breath cloud in front of him even though he’s inside.

“Once more,” says Jack, “then tell me where you are.”

In. Out. “Murder Stop n Shop.”

“Thank god.”

“What, why?” Bitty asks, confused and shivery as a gust of wind comes in. “Jack. That’s not good. It’s raining so darn much and I’ve got no umbrella and too many groceries. I can’t afford to let these things get wet.”

“Look to your left.”

Bitty turns his head to see–as best he can in this weather–the pathway leading to the store.

There’s Jack. Walking through the torrential downpour with a massive, blue umbrella, and his phone to his ear.

Your arm rested behind your head and the other holding your phone to your chest. Derek’s light snores filled the quiet room, he didn’t shift throughout the hour you fell asleep. He never does. Once Derek falls asleep, that’s it, he’s out for the night. Your phone buzzed against your chest, sending tingly feelings around your body.

Are you awake?

Divine

I followed all the rules, when I came here the first time. Listened to all of the stories, the tips, believed all of the warnings and the worries. Watched some classmates disappear, sometimes covered with excuses of transfers, sometimes not, watched suspiciously or with awed eyes to those who were suspected to be other.

But I never saw a single thing. I never saw the creatures late in the library, I never heard things scratching on my windows, and I never felt eyes on the back of my neck walking home in all the dark, clutching iron nails in my jacket pockets.
I’m from the South, you see, and down there we don’t have this Fae nonsense. There’s no flimsy fairy circle to be warned about, no rock in the middle of the road; sure, I’d read the fables, but that’s all they were to me. Fables.

I believed in something different. That’s all it came down to; belief.
So when I brought the shrine with me, and gave it its own shelf, I shouldn’t’ve been surprised that everything left me alone for the first year. I shouldn’t’ve been surprised that, as I was deaf to my gods, so was I blind to the Fae. (You learn to listen in other ways.)

It was only that first summer, when I wore something other than a t-shirt for the first time, and my ankh tattoo finally was blessed by the sun for the first time, and my friend flinched away from me when I turned to talk to someone, it was only then that I started to take note.
I couldn’t see them - of course, this will come as no surprise - I couldn’t see them, I couldn’t hear or touch them, not like some of my friends swore they could, but.
When I was holding that ankh necklace, when I was wearing that tattoo, when I was believing, they could tell. I learned which days to wear the necklace over my shirts, and which days to hide it under the binder.

It wasn’t until two years later, when I painted gold onto my eyelids, that I could see for the first time.
But that’s getting ahead of myself. I had two years of knowing nothing; of seeing friends Taken and gone, of some of them coming back, of wondering what it was that I wasn’t seeing, and wondering when my belief wasn’t going to hold me safe anymore.
I brought my cat up to campus, in one of the apartments nearby (did the campus own these? were they just affiliated with it? I’m still not sure, to this day) and then when I set up my shrine, certain friends stopped coming in without permission. My cat followed me about the small space, over and over again, waited for me by the door every single day, and purred on my lap for hours. (It wasn’t until years later that I would call him a “familiar” for the first time.)

The next year was rough. I still never saw a thing; I made friends, I joined clubs, I branched out to new places and new people and new classes, I drew fantastical things in my sketchbook, I wondered and wondered whether the softest tone of a bell I heard in one class was something Other, I wondered and wondered whether the thunderclap that we all heard one day with clear sky was something Other, and yet I never knew anything for sure.

I stopped carrying iron, stopped wasting my ramen packets (that stuff is so, so bland without it, so I savored every possibly last bite I got) stuffing them in pockets, stopped wondering. I stopped looking at certain students with awe and wonder, stopped darting glances over my shoulder late at night, stopped pretending to have seen something my classmates had. I had followed all the rules; done everything right; and never seen a thing. I had friends who would swear up and down and around the mountain that they were real, that the Gentry (their word, never mine), had done this or that, that they had seen something or other, but never me. It was a quaint university, that was for sure, but was it really magical?

And then I saw her. She was the first person to ever seem More, to me, the first person to shine in my eyes like she had some kind of luck brimming in her smile, the first person to freeze me solid with her laugh (oh, there were others, who sent shivers all up and down my spine in the best ways, but this one, this one was different somehow) and the first person to touch the fox tail I’d worn for years with wonder, and not disgust or barely-hidden half-curiosity half-abhorrence.

I bribed her with gummy sharks, all the while thinking about the fables - for, to me, they were truly only fables - of eating food in the Fae world, of being stuck there forever. All the while wondering breathlessly about the idea that maybe, for the first time, I was Seeing.

I met her again on the lawn, looking for someone else, and I sat and found that she, too, drew fantastical things and creatures without name. I found that she wore no shoes, and when she laughed I wanted to listen to the sound forever. And when her eyes glittered just so, then I wanted to drown in their blue.

I bribed her with gummy sharks, and dances, and honesty; the greatest gift that one could give on this campus, I had learned, and I’d honed mine to a brutal point.
And, eventually, when I tangled my fingers finally in that curly ocean of teal, dyed colors and colors that I did not know could come in a tube or a on a brush, I felt like magic for a moment.

It wasn’t until she flinched at the first mirror that I started to suspect anything, for real. It wasn’t until then that my heart knew, and my mouth started speaking with that brutal honesty it was so good at. It wasn’t until then that something in my gut changed, something in my heart stirred, and something in my hearing clicked.
I heard padding footsteps on the path behind me, that night, felt something curling in the mist around me, that night, as I walked away from her dorm.

I still didn’t believe it. Not really, not truly; but I did clutch to my necklace when I walked away, a little too fast, and I did relax in my car, sheathed in metal, a little too much.

She changed me.

And when I told her my stories, her eyes lit up, and when she told me her worlds, I listened with rapter attention than I had paid anyone here, shivers dancing on my spine and gooseflesh on my arms (no feathers; I was embarrassed to admit even to myself that I had checked, later, in the bathroom, alone with my cat.) and something shivering new in my heart.
And when she looked at me, I felt like I had become the center of every vision on earth; and when she laughed for me, the feelings that swelled in my heart swelled without name; and when I kissed her, I thought that it was nothing more than what it was; smiles and flattery and - daresay - love.

But then the meat in the dining hall tasted a little bit different that night. But then the salt burned my tongue a little more than it should - how should salt burn your tongue, anyways? How do you describe what should and shouldn’t taste, how things changed just enough to notice them but only once, because pineapple and oranges taste so good, how had I never tried those before?

I’m getting away from myself again. It’s easy; easy to get lost. Maybe that’s what they mean by Taken, sometimes. Maybe that’s why english majors and storytellers and musicians are the most oft to come back.

Anyways. It entered my life in bursts, leaps and bounds, fits and starts: the half feral cats purred at my touch, the crows regarded me with careful eyes, the rain kissed my lips and dusted my eyelashes like gems. The music spoke back to me, random patterns finding less random and more sass; the tarot deck she would push into my hands would speak louder, eventually.

She called me beautiful; and I had no words to reply. She called me divine, and my heart sung out in response so loud and so unerringly that I could not say no, and within a month I had inked it into my skin.

The artist gave me rose quartz to hold, told me that there is no divinity without pain, and the sigils on my arms burned like fire the first time I stepped foot back on campus.
But that was alright.
Because I could hear them now, because I met the fox eyes and lightly glowing gazes with my own raised high, with a proudness that had infected me, somewhere, when someone a little less human and a little too magic had told me I’ll have enough confidence for the both of us, and at the end of that winter everything had changed.

I mean that mundanely, of course. I couldn’t See anything yet, but new scars stretched across my chest and suddenly, shirtlessness was possible, and suddenly, my tattoos meant something more, and suddenly, I was myself and there was no other way to be.
I convinced her she was Fae at some point, over that break, too. With whispered words beneath blue fairy lights, and the snow trapping us alone, with my heart beating so much closer to the outside world than it had been, wrapped in a form that wasn’t quite mine, we spun tales at one another until she was half joking to worship me, and I was half joking to change my piercings out for less iron ones.

The joke stopped the day I painted gold onto my eyelids. With her supervision, and my nervousness - just a little bit of makeup - just a little bit of makeup - we surrounded my eyes in gold and she smiled, by my gods did she smile, and my heart felt so radiant I could not want for anything else in that moment.

And then I left her dorm to trek my way home, to my cat, and my lights, and my bed - sorrowfully empty - and when I raised my head to meet the eyes of another student, I had to look twice as high as I ever had before.

As it turns out, the Fae have an agreement - this Court with others, that Court with some, ancient beings with ancient beings, and - for me at least, far be it for me to speak for others - occasionally, the child of the divine.
All it takes is belief - belief in the Fae, belief in the rumors, belief in the iron around your fingers and the salt in your pockets - belief in what will and will not work, belief in the world around you and the one that you cannot see - and belief in your own kind of magic.

I believed hard enough in the divine touching me - and, maybe, roped a child of the Fae into speaking it into truth - that maybe they did.
And now I never leave the house with my eyes unburdened by gold, without my fingers wrapped in a carefully picked pattern of gold and iron rings, without the glitter of divinity speckling my skin, without the pride in myself decorating my features, inspired by someone who won’t use her roommates’ iron cutlery anymore.

Jeremy is an athlete, which means he wears a watch with a timer no matter how nerdy and ugly it is; and he’s a college athlete in his senior year, which means he has a Google Calendar more packed than one of his suitcases when he needs to fly home. In other words: Jeremy keeps track of time to the minute at least. He’s not organized in other parts of his life, but in this one, knowing when and how long, he’s basically a walking bullet journal.

All of which is to say: Jean has been in L.A. for six months, fourteen days, six hours, and twenty-three minutes when Jeremy blinks during lunch with the team and realizes he’s staring.

The clouds were dark, creating a gloomy mood over the city. With my head rested on my hand, I watched the rain fall from the sky and hit the windows of the library. I should be focusing on my studies but, the weather outside made my mind doze off. With countless of things to catch up on, I regretted staying at the boys house for so long. However, the only reason why I stayed was because of one person; Jaebum. I truly believed that he had feelings for me and I was a fool for thinking that way. After seeing him with Aimee, I realized Jaebum would always and will remain as a liar. He may be a great leader but sometimes, he needs to keep his arrogance in check.

“Miss, the library is closing early today because of an event happening later on. Sorry for interrupting your work.” The lady said as she tapped my shoulder, snapping me back into reality.

“Oh, no problem.” I smiled at her. “I’ll leave.”

And most of all, I want to do nothing with you. I want to spend a Sunday at home, me in my corner, you in yours, reading or working or writing, silently in our spaces. I want to be so together that we don’t have to say anything at all, that we can just watch it rain and drink our tea and occasionally look at one another and smile. I will wonder why I ever thought that Sunday was for running errands and cleaning and getting things done one after the other, when it is so clear that spending them silently across from you is so much better.

I want to have every bit of Sunday with you, every Sunday, because you are simply too good to end on a Saturday night.

A Little Goes a Long Way (Part 1)

I’m the worst, I know. I hope you can forgive me for my absence! Here’s a request from @bendingovervirginia where Reid is sick and Reader takes care of him. Also, yes, there will be a Part 2 and it might not take too long lol.

“Reid. Go. Home.“

(Y/N) was infuriated. Her coworker had been coughing and feeling queasy for the last three days, but he was still adamant about going to work. Sat in front of her, a red-nosed and sick Spencer kept trying to focus on his paperwork but was blinking slowly due to the drowsiness of the medicine he took and was having a hard time concentrating on anything.

“I will,” he said. (Y/N) laughed at his funny voice due to his sickness. The doctor frowned. “But only when everyone does. I’m fine.” The woman sat at the desk next to his rolled her eyes at his stubbornness.

“You’re such… Fine! But I’m taking you home after work, ok?,” she spat, annoyed at his stubborness. (Y/N) sighed, nervously. She did not anticipate that. She had planned her whole night, which included Netflix, popcorn and a ton of ice cream. It did not include, however, a sick coworker that she definitely had to take care of now. Spencer just nodded, too high on his meds to say anything.

Clubs have never really been his scene. He quickly gets uncomfortable when the sweaty bodies of strangers bump into him, and with the occasional bold girl getting straight to the point by wrapping her arms around his neck and grinding up against him. So he stays off the dancefloor and chats with the bartender when she has time to talk, sips from his drink, eats his peanuts and watches his friends dance to the fast paced, pulsating music that blares from the speakers.

Shawn’s not surprised when a female body pushes up against the bar next to him and starts a hollow conversation about his drink, then claims that she doesn’t know him but says that he looks familiar. At this point, he’s used to women hitting on him once they recognise him; it’s a common pattern. He’s noticed them watch him with their girlfriends before plucking up the courage and making an excuse to approach him.  So, he’s developed a secure routine.

Avengers x Reader: Storm

(Author’s Note: Heyo, Rainy here!  Just a little something I wanted to post in between requests.  I was feeling kind of lonely last night and came up with this idea just because.  Just some silly fluff to cheer you up if you need it!   Also, gif is not mine. Credit to original owner!)

   It was an ordinary day in Avengers Tower.  No villains.  No evil plots or schemes to sabotage.  It seemed that the crappy weather had taken care of that.  Gray clouds seemed to cover the entire city of New York, and what little patches of sky were visible were dark as well.  Raindrops covered the windows and tap-tapped on the roof.

   Steve and Bucky sat on either end of the leather couch in the hangout at the top floor of Avengers Tower.  You stretched out across them, head resting on Bucky’s lap and legs dangling across Steve’s.  Both soldiers watched rather boredly as you flipped through the TV channels, one arm draped across your forehead dramatically.  It was a miserable day, and what better way to be bored than with your friends?

   Footsteps echoed on the smooth floor, signaling Tony Stark’s entrance.  The eccentric billionaire donned a t-shirt and pair of ripped jeans instead of a suit, which meant he had been busy working in the garage on his Iron Man tech.  He paced over to the bar to pour himself a quick glass of water, most likely parched from his work.  He gulped the clear liquid down, pausing to stare at the three of you in between gulps.  You, Bucky, and Steve stared back at him until, finally, he set the glass down and spoke.

   “Yeesh, what’s going on in here?  You all look miserable.”

   “Thanks. It’s really nice to see you too,” you quipped, giving him a look.

   “Yeah, I could tell by your faces when I walked in the room.  They just lit up.”  His retort earned a snort from each of you, and he stuffed his hands in his pockets, sparing a glance out the window.  “Weather’s got you down?”

   “I had plans to go out for a jog,” Steve explained, resting his chin on the palm of his hand.

   “And I wanted to visit the store.  We’re out of plums,” Bucky grumbled, arms folded.

   “Not to mention I was going to head down to Central Park for a relaxing afternoon out,” you added.  “Basically, the rain messed up all our plans.”

   “So we’re just here being bored together,” Bucky finished, eyes fixed on the TV screen which had gone static.

   Tony rolled his eyes unsympathetically, walking to stand in front of the TV screen.  “Okay, first of all, Steve, there is a very expensive workout room that I had built into the basement of the Tower, complete with a running track.”

   “It’s not really the same, you know?” Steve shrugged.  “I like being out in the morning air and seeing the sun come up.”

   Tony gave him a look, but moved on.  “And Bucky, are you really going to let rain come between you and your plums?  Man up, put on a trench coat, and go out.”

   “No.”

   Lastly, Tony’s gaze rested on you.  “_______, you do realize this is Avengers Tower.  We have an indoor pool, food, a library, food.  That sounds like a pretty relaxing afternoon to me.”

   “I’ve done all that stuff already,” you stretched your arms out and yawned.

   “Whatever.  It’s not like I invested a whole lot of money in-”  The pounding of rain on the windows increased until it nearly drowned out his voice.  A deafening boom of thunder sounded, and lightning flashed.

   “Wow.  That doesn’t sound too good,” you mused.  “We should turn the lights off.”

   Tony looked at you as if you had suggested everyone dress up as clowns and go running through the streets of New York..  “Why?”

   “To watch the storm.  I like feeling all safe and cozy inside while that craziness is happening outside.”

   “Me too,” Steve agreed.  “That’s a good idea.  Let’s do it.”

   Even Bucky’s usual scowl was replaced by a smile at the idea.  “I like the sound of that.”

   That was yet another reason why you got along with them so well.  Tony and the others were so reliant on technology, that they sometimes forgot to sit back and enjoy the simpler things in life.  Steve and Bucky enjoyed technology and its benefits, but like you, they were a bit old-fashioned and liked to step away and take time to appreciate other things.

   “Come on, Stark.  There’s more to life than heated pools and tinkering with robots,” Steve went on.

   “Even most of your library is digital,” you pointed out.

   “Yeah, pfft, electricity.  Who needs that?” Tony joked, waving his hand dismissively.  “Excuse me for taking advantage of modern conveniences.  Sorry I’m not a tree-hugging, bird-watching nymph like all of you.”

   Bucky snorted, and you laughed.  You sat up and went around the room, shutting off lights along the way.  Steve jumped to his feet and took care of the last set of lights before the two of you rejoined Bucky on the couch, you snuggled in between them.  The room was very dark, save for the dim light from the gray sky that seeped in through the windows.

   “Come sit,” you motioned for Tony to take a seat.  You could see his outline hesitate before shrugging and walking over to sit down on Bucky’s other side.  “There.  Isn’t this nice?”

   Thunder continued to boom, lightning flashed, and the rain thrummed against the windows harshly.  It might be a scary thing to witness, but snuggled in between two very good friends that you trusted, you felt safe and warm.

   “You know,” Tony broke the silence in the conversation.  “This is actually really nice.”

   “Yep,” you agreed with a nod.  “But something’s missing…”

   “We need a fort,” Steve chuckled.

   “Exactly.  See, this is why we’re friends.”  You jumped up and hurried out of the room before anyone could protest.  “Be right back!  I’m just going to grab some materials!”  You headed straight for the nearest closet full of sheets, towels, extra pillows, etc…And started gathering everything you could carry.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   “I have to admit, when you mentioned a fort, I thought this would be stupid,” Tony confessed.  “But this…This right here is awesome.”
   “It’s perfect,” you agreed, tossing a couple of flashlights inside.
   Bucky was making the finishing touches, setting down a stack of books to hold a sheet in place.  Even you hadn’t expected it to turn out so cool.  It really was an impressive fort.
   “We good?” Steve asked.
   “Yeah, this should hold up just fine,” Bucky replied.  You dropped to your hands and knees and crawled in to bury yourself in the pile of blankets and pillows.  Bucky ducked in, chuckling as you rolled yourself up like a burrito.
    “Steve! Tony!  Come on in!” you called.
   Steve crawled in, following by Tony fumbling his way in.  Both of them found their own blankets and pillows and got comfortable.  The four of you turned your attention to the little window the group made so you could see the storm.  A loud boom of thunder sounded, and you rolled over to snuggle against Bucky’s side.
  “Comfortable?” he asked, unable to hide a small smile.
   You grinned up at him.  “Very”
   Tony shifted so that he was lying obnoxiously across your stomach.  “Me too.”
  “Dork.” You ruffled his hair.
   “Hey, not cool.”
   “Oh my gosh!” a new, but familiar, voice exclaimed from somewhere outside the fort.  “Is that a fort?”
   “Clint, care to join us?” Steve called.
  “Heck yeah!”  He bounded over to scrambled inside.  A few of you had to move over to make room.  “Wow, this is so cool.  You guys watching the storm?”
   “Yep, it’s actually more fun that I thought it would be,” Tony replied.
   “Nat would love this.”
   “Love what?”  The read-headed agent appeared at the entrance of the fort suddenly, making all of you jump in surprise.  Clint screamed.  “Calm down,” Natasha told him.  “It’s only me.”
   “And me.”
  “Bruce?” you questioned.  “Is that you?”
  “Oh gosh, we seriously are going to need more room,” Clint commented.  The next thing you knew, everyone was squeezed in beside each other in the fort.
   “This is ridiculous,” Natasha said, but you could see the smile on her face.
  “Rogers.  You wouldn’t mind getting your elbow out of my shoulder, would you?”
   “Well maybe your shoulder needs to get off my elbow, Tony.”
   Most of you were chuckling and playfully shoving each other.  Except Bruce, who was struggling with the fact he was in such a small space.  It was such a silly and fun time, a nice change from all the high-stress situations the lot of you were usually in.  Meanwhile, the storm went on outside.
  You thought it was unfortunate that the rest of the team couldn’t be there to enjoy it, but they had their own missions to deal with.  Your group spent the rest of the stormy evening talking and laughing over just about everything.  After the conversation died down, you all fell into a comfortable silence.  You were pretty sure you heard Tony snoring.  That guy almost never slept, so this was probably good for him. It was so calming that you felt your eyelids growing heavy.
   “Go ahead and sleep, doll,” Bucky told you quietly, patting your shoulder.
   “Yes.  Sleep.  Just please don’t snore.”
   “Shut up, Barton.”
