Yeah good luck with that Sweet Potato-san. That’s Kurogane. I admire your confidence/your rage but I think we all know that challenging him in close combat was a poor decision. It’s ok. You tried. That’s a good solid point in your favour.
THAT WAS THE FIRST USEFUL THING SWEET POTATO HAS EVER DONE.
DON’T KILL HIM NOW.
I AM SO MAD AT BOTH OF YOU JUST. JUST STOP EVERYTHING YOU ARE DOING RIGHT NOW.
Ok. OK. I love the ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY with which we all knew this was coming. All the way back in Hanshin Fai warned Syaoran off interfering with Kurogane’s battle, because he wants to do it by himself. (It didn’t stop him from pinning down Syaoran, and Kurogane said nothing at that point, so maybe there was a pretense or plan going on there, but still) Now we finally get Fai interfering and the first thing Kurogane does is tell him not to.
But of course Fai knew he was going to say that. Fai knew Kurogane’s tendencies right from the off. The only reason why Fai would go against that now is that he was actually worried there.
Sweet Potato-san took them both off guard.
FAI GENUINELY THOUGHT SWEET POTATO-SAN WAS GOING TO KILL KUROGANE.
THAT IS THE WORLD WE LIVE IN.
THAT IS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED.
But even then Fai’s aim is BEYOND BELIEF and he only got him in the shoulder. Because Kurogane will want to fight him himself.
But also THAT SILENT SMILE. KUROGANE TELLS HIM OFF AND FAI JUST CLOSES HIS EYES AND SMILES AND SAYS NOTHING.
