“And apparently he’s like this because someone [pointed glare at Nina] left her brother with Velouria for an afternoon and she taught him to eat gARBAGE”

The hand touch leaves me with so many questions fam. That interaction has nothing to do with the plot. Pidge learning altean comes in handy, coran's slipperies come in handy, Hunk's scaultrite cookies come in handy. Keith and Lance idk I guess it's to show them working as a team at the end compared to at the start. But the hand touch scene?? Had no effect on them escaping??? Why was it included??? Other than to demonstrate a potential relationship?????

why DOES it exist? it doesn’t advance the plot in any way, or show either of them developing new skills. If they wanted to show Shiro and Allura demonstrating leadership together, they could have just had them both on the bridge working when the Galra attacked. If the point was “Allura is working too hard” there’s a bunch of different ways they could have gone with that.

They could have shown Shiro being concerned for Allura’s wellbeing without him literally taking her hand. The hand touching is totally unnecessary. What does that demonstrate? What is that showing the audience? Co-leaders don’t tenderly hold hands. It’s not even to help her up or pull her in a certain direction, it’s literally just out of nowhere. And it’s so gentle.

Like… think about how much effort went into having Shiro get up from his chair and walk all the way to where Allura is standing in order to put his hand on hers. He didn’t need to walk up to her, he just needed to say “Go get some rest Princess”. Someone in that writers room decided that it was really important for us to see Shiro walk all the way over to where Allura is standing so he can take her hand. Someone storyboarded that and animated it. They put time and effort into making sure that happened. IT’S IMPORTANT.

It serves no purpose other than to demonstrate the nature of their relationship. That’s the purpose of that scene - it’s character development. It doesn’t advance the plot or move the action forward (until the Galra ships turn up), it doesn’t reveal any pertinent worldbuilding information. It’s just to show us the relationship between those two characters. And the nature of that relationship is: it’s close. It’s intimate. It’s caring. It’s supportive. It’s gentle. It’s way more familiar and tactile than just “co-leaders”. It’s soft and affectionate. It’s beautiful.

(did i save this picture or did this picture save me?)

Also I guess now’s the time to link to the {2000-word meta} I wrote about this huh

1. I know it's not about your politics silly, I sent a follow up that said I disliked you before trump and all the other nonsense going on but you conveniently kept that back to suit your own needs 2. I'm not boring I'm bored, I have many interests such as art and horseback riding. 3. Is it really that hard to believe that some people are just malicious for no reason?

“Is it really that hard to believe that some people are just malicious for no reason?”

No, of course not. That’s a pretty functional basic definition of “evil”, and “I hate you because I’m evil” is… possibly the funniest attempt at meanness I’ve encountered a while.
