How many vehicles has Steve wrecked and did this pattern start before he got the serum or after?
thankfully, he only really started wrecking stuff properly after the serum. he’s always been really good at using his surroundings to his advantage in a fight, and he had surprisingly good spatial awareness for a half-deaf colorblind guy. which was good because he had pretty much nothing but that and pure bullheadedness going for him when it came to actual fisticuffs. well, that and me. i was usually there to fish him out before things got too nasty. he always hated that.
plus, steve’s fights when he was still a brave little toaster and not a brave industrial refrigerator were mostly backalley fistfights, and therefore rarely merited the throw-a-motorcycle-at-it method of conflict resolution.
but after? i have no idea how many vehicles he’s wrecked. im told that one of the first things he did was rip a door off a taxicab to use as a shield, which, typical. and then he was hoisting aloft motorcycles loaded with ladies in the star spangled show, and ive got no clue what happened with that. during the war he went through six or so bikes, and if you wanna count enemy vehicles, it seemed like we were blowing up or stealing somebody’s ride every other week at least.
and it seems that the future has not slowed him down on that front. from what ive heard and seen, he’s continued his one man war on all things horsepowered.
frankly at this point he’s probably killed as many vehicles as i have people.
Context: I’m a new DM playing with a small group of veteran D&Ders (consisting of a high-elf Ranger, a Dragonborn warrior and literal cat? cleric), and they suggested that we do a small series of one-offs to get me used to being a DM. We’re in our third one, which is based off the C'thulhu mythos, and they’re about to face off with Nyarlathotep when this happens.
Me: Okay, you find your way to Nyarlathotep’s chapel and as you enter, you hear his voice in your head saying, “Ah, my sacrifices have arrived.”
Ranger: What does he look like?
Me: Knowledge check that.
Ranger: *rolls an 18*
Me: You remember he is described as a tall, swarthy, sinister man, looking as if he had just walked out of Egypt. Dark skin, dark eyes, well built; he looks like a Pharaoh that walked straight out of the past.
Warrior: I roll to seduce!
Me: Excuse me?
Warrior: I roll to seduce the handsome Egyptian-Eldritch god.
Me: … I don’t even know why I’m allowing this but okay.
Warrior: *rolls a nat20*
I’m just staring in disbelief at this point, and everyone else is laughing.
Me: Okay, fine. Nyarlethotep pauses and considers, then grabs you and stuffs a tentacle down your throat and into your stomach, placing something, probably an egg of some sort, there before tossing you back down. Congratulations, you are now pregnant with the Dunwich horror. In about a month, it’ll eat through your stomach and probably you before bringing chaos upon the world.
Now its his turn to stare, and I’m just like, “What?”
Cleric(OOC): Wait, what? His character’s a dude!
Me: The forces of chaos care nothing about your insignificant human gender binary.
So one thing i’ve noticed about Shiro that i totally and absolutely adore for several reasons (one of them being that it lines up with my hc that Shiro would be an epic Cedric Diggory type hufflepuff in an hp au) is that Shiro is not an OVERprotective type.
Lemme explain why this is good and how.
We know that Shiro is protective of those he loves, I’m not saying he isn’t protective (AHEM STEPPING IN FOR MATT) but what i am saying is that Shiro isn’t SO protective that he belittles the strength and abilities of the people he cares about; which is a trait too often glorified in heroes, especially concerning the male hero to the female.
Exhibit A) S01E10. Allura says that she’s going with them to break into the space base and everyone’s looking at Shiro like “dude you can’t let the princess join us on a such a dangerous mission”
and Shiro’s just like “sure, why not?”
while everyone else reacts like this:
Obviously, because of genre expectations, we would expect Shiro to say something along the lines of “no way we can’t endanger the princess like that” so it comes as a bit of a surprise, a good one of course, when instead of insisting Allura can’t come that he has no issues with it. He doesn’t even look conflicted, he has no idea why Allura shouldn’t be allowed to come! That’s because our little cinnamon role knows what’s up and he understands that Allura is strong, capable woman. At the very least he knows that he has no good reason to assume otherwise (even though there’s some pretty funny scenes once they’re in the base and Allura doesn’t even know how to hold a gun). But you get my point.
To summarize Exhibit A: This scene is a VERY REFRESHING change from the standard “i must protect the princess, the princess is incapable of protecting herself, which means i’m the only one allowed to do dangerous things” narrative. Shiro does not judge a person’s adequacy based on unfounded preconceptions. This is a SUPER important quality in a leader. Also, this means he isn’t sexist.
Exhibit B) S02E12.
Keith offers to be the one to go into the ship to make sure what was supposed to be Thace’s job gets done. Kolivan says it’s a suicide mission and that he would never command anyone so inexperienced do it when Keith replies:
And of course Shiro, being the head of Voltron, is the next person who would have a say in this - who should be the one to talk Keith down. But he doesn’t. Instead he says this:
This demonstrates that Shiro, understanding who Keith is, knows that there is no stopping Keith which means the best thing for Shiro to do is make sure Keith gets to the ship safely.
This is very similar to what he did with Allura. He doesn’t stop her from going on the mission, but insists he goes with her (i didn’t touch on that above but we know that happened).
So let’s just talk about what this means for a second. Shiro cares about Keith. We know he’s totally worried about Keith’s safety because he LITERALLY has to take a breath to COMPOSE HIMSELF before he says this. He does not want Keith to do this, he does not want anyone for that matter to be risking their lives. But this is war. I’m sure Shiro wishes for nothing more than to be able to trust that Thace will do his part. But Keith can’t rely on that, and Shiro knows that he can’t either. And they shouldn’t because they can’t be taking any chances with this fight.
So Shiro lets Keith do what Keith needs to do, what they all need Keith to do. Shiro chooses to trust Keith’s abilities, and doesn’t undermine Keith’s determination. This whole war is bigger than all of them! Keith is not just Shiro’s probably younger friend, Keith is a fellow paladin of Voltron. Keith is his equal, not some helpless child who needs to be kept out of harm’s way and given the least dangerous task because he has no right to be involved or because he doesn’t want Keith to get hurt.
So Shiro says “I’ll give you cover.” Because Shiro protects those he cares about. And because he REALLY TRULY cares about Keith, and Allura, and everyone, he knows what they’re capable of. He trusts them. He doesn’t let his need to protect them belittle them.
OVERALL: I just think this says so much about Shiro and the type of hero role he plays, especially as a leader it is so important that his protective side is not also oppressive. Shiro’s the kind of guy who would die WITH his friends, not just the classic FOR his friends. Shiro doesn’t undermine the people he loves like that, they’re all his equal, they are all capable human (or not human or half human) beings.
If the people he loves wants to fight then they deserve to fight, that’s their right and not his decision to make. But he sure as hell doesn’t have to let them do it alone so he goes with them. He helps them however he can.
And quick flashback to the Matt situation. The only reason Shiro stepped in like that was because Matt clearly did not want to go into the ring. I think if for whatever reason Matt really wanted to fight that dude (maybe for his own revenge or something) Shiro wouldn’t have taken that away from him. But Matt was not ready, Matt was freaking out and Matt did not want to fight. So Shiro did it for him cuz THAT is the Shiro way.
(sorry this was probably way longer than necessary, I’m not very concise but I haven’t seen a post about this so i thought i’d try my hand at making one)
James is Facebook. the original one that everyone know and have. thinks is the coolest, is not. still some cool shit happening though, once in a while. have a cool side and a nerd side, bad jokes, some really stupid ones.
Remus is Twitter. witty short answers, and then really long inspiring rants. not as popular but everyone loves it once they try. both great clever observations and opinions and “wher the fuk is my cofee too early fr this shit”
Sirius is Instagram. pretty cool and popular. a lot of selfies. also black and white pictures with deep quotes that represent the tortured soul of the artist. and obviously “LOOK AT THIS STIM IT IS BRIGHTLY COLOURED AND IT MOOVES OMG”
Peter is Pinterest. underestimated and unpopular but you realize once in a while that a lot of good shit comes from here. always ready to help, sometimes clingy ( “we made a SPECIAL BUTTON that appear on every picture you will ever view isn’t that amazing” )
I am very thankful CHB: Confidential is coming because last night @nerdyadventures and I were talking about this. Camp’s schedule that is part of the Ultimate Guide book.
Since most of the quest are happening during the summer, we don’t really know how camps go on during the rest of the summer, we got a few glimpses during The Lighting Thief and there are some mentions from time to time but here is the full schedule and I just want to say some things:
THEY ACTUALLY HAVE TO DO LAUNDRY, I HAVE NEVER ACTUALLY THOUGHT ABOUT THIS, but it totally makes sense, they are at camp for months and they have a fixed schedule to do laundry. I’m sure every cabin has a different one but like WHERE DO THEY DO THE LAUNDRy? Do they have a special place to dry everything or you are going to walk and see your other campers clothes hanging while being dry? THIS WOULD SUCK AND MAKE YOU THE TARGET OF SO MANY PRANKS AND REVENGE
VOLLEYBALL. THEY PLAY VOLLEYBALL AS A SPORT. CAN YOU IMAGINE THIS, PERCY PROBABLY HAS TO JOIN CABINS BECAUSE HE IS ALONE BUT THIS CAN BE BRUTAL AND ALL THE POSSIBILITIES.
Letters to home is probably the campers having free time because some of them might not want to write letters to their place or don’t have anyone to send.
WRESTLING. they have wrestling and omg, little Percy being beaten over and over and over and then not so little Percy being able to win matches.
WOOD CHOPPING. I AM SORRY THIS IS HILARIOUS BUT I GUESS IT MAKES SENSE BECAUSE THEY HAVE A CAMPFIRE EVERY NIGHT
You bet your ass Percy and Annabeth both have strawberry picking at the same time.
STORE CHECKS. I KEEP FORGETTING THEY HAVE A STORE. How do they even pay for it!? Like WHERE DO THEY GET THE MONEY? Do they have to do inventories, is the Hermes cabin even allowed to do inventories?
WHY THE FUCK THEY HAVE SO MUCH PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AFTER DINNER? WHY DO THEY THINK IT WAS A GOOD IDEA? THEY ARE GONNA THROW UP
If a cabin is in charge of an activity, how do they work around that plus having their own schedule? Do cabin counselors have a different one since they are probably in charge of the activities?
Does cabin leaders go and negotiate their schedules to Chiron? “Look I don’t mind teaching swordfight 3 hours non-stop, but you gotta take me out of firework making”
WHAT DOES LUNCH PREPARATION MEANS? THE FOOD IS SUPPOSED TO BE MAGIC
Can May 2 come already and have the book released because I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS

A/N: Hey, ya’ll !! I’m back from vacation and the idea for this fic was sparked by my sleeping accommodations. heh. I kinda fell in love with it and even made time to write in the evenings after being super tired from traveling. I hope you enjoy this and any feedback is appreciated! Love you guys!! :)
“Alright! So here are the keys, the WiFi password is posted on the fridge and let me know if there’s anything you need, anything at all. Okay?” said the overly enthusiastic young man before you.
You accepted the keys with a smile, “Absolutely! Thank you so much, Jeff. It’s even better than the pictures.”
“I’m so glad,” he grinned. “Well, I’ll leave you to it. It was so nice to meet you both.”
Your eyes flickered to the man beside you, tight smile upon his face. “You, too, man,” he coolly responded.
Resisting the urge to roll your eyes, you clasped the hand of the heavy left arm draped over your shoulders. Technology allowed the metal plates to be shielded with a holographic flesh arm, but it still weighed a ton.
He nodded before stepping out into the hall. The moment the front door lock engaged, you shoved the arm off and put as much space between you two as possible.
“This plan is stupid,” Bucky said with contempt as he collapsed heavily onto the couch.
Alright, Witches, Wizards, Muggles, and magical creatures big and small, hold onto your broomsticks because I’m about to tell you why I do not like Harry Potter and the Cursed Child nor accept it as canon.
Spoilers ahead. Obviously. but c’mon who hasn’t read it or been spoiled by nowAlso, it got super long.
Let’s start off by saying: it’s been months since I read it. If I get some things off a little, go ahead and tell me; I’ll edit the rant and correct it. If you just don’t agree with me… that’s great for you. Okay? We good? That’s all the disclaimer you’re getting. Moving on!
Where do I begin? Um… Let’s recap shall we?
It starts with Albus Severus Potter (who’s name I still cannot get over) meeting and becoming friends with Scorpius Malfoy.
Okay. Great. We’ve all wanted that for years. No problem.
We’ve also played with the idea of Albus in Slytherin for years. I have no problem with that either.
What I do have problems with is the way Albus is treated after he is put in Slytherin. He’s the outcast of his family. He’s the “disappointing son”. After Harry’s canon “the bravest man I knew was Slytherin” speech (don’t get me started on Snape), I expected a bit better treatment of Slytherins. But Albus is Slytherin and looked at sideways by the entire cast, except Scorpius. This could easily become a rant about Slytherin’s and stereotypes and treatment, but I give enough of those already.
My issues are mostly with Albus’ personality. Now, I didn’t write the character. He’s not mine. I don’t have the authority to tell anyone how he should be. All I can do is have headcanons. But “canon” Albus doesn’t exactly display a lot of Slytherin traits. Sure he sneaks around, but so does Harry, Ron, and Hermione and they’re all Gryffindor. If my memory serves me correctly, Albus goes to Slytherin because he basically thinks, “Well, the Gryffindors I know suck, let’s try Slytherin.”it’s been a while since I read it okay
Albus is jaded by the time the plot picks up. He doesn’t like flying, isn’t that good at it or Quidditch (which honestly feels like they’re just trying to make him as unlike Harry as possible which I could handle if it wasn’t so badly written), and is basically convinced his life is horrible. (I’ll get into why a little later.) This kid shows no Slytherin traits that I remember. He hardly shows any traits really. I think it was the play format, but Albus becomes a stereotypical teenager who has daddy issues and doesn’t like his life.
Scorpius I don’t really have a big problem with, besides it going against my personal headcanons. He at least shows a bit more Slytherin traits than jaded Albus. I feel like they were trying to break Slytherin stereotypes with him- which is great and all, but it almost makes me feel like that’s all Scorpius’ personality was. As if he was made to simply disrupt our preconceived ideas of what Slytherin is. I don’t like it. Stereotypes are something I can’t stand, but come on, people, don’t strip my house of what we actually are.
Okay, moving on from Slytherin.
Let’s take a step back from the new characters and visit the one’s we already know, we already love. Oh wait, they’ve been ripped to shreds.
Reyna is stiff and doesn’t move. Years of sleeping in the barracks at Camp Jupiter taught her that. Shes also a very light sleeper.
Jason is similar though since moving into the Zeus Cabin he sleeps much easier. He also snores like a freight train.
Leo sleeps sprawled out wherever exhaustion take ahold often falling asleep on top of projects.
Piper sprawls out on her bed and also snores though she’s not as bad as Jason. But she kicks in her sleep too so there’s that.
Annabeth sleeps soundly when at camp but very lightly when elsewhere, years of training and dodging monsters with Luke and Thalia gave her that particular skill. If she and Percy are napping together she’s the big spoon despite him being physically bigger than her.
Percy still drools. He loves being The little spoon when he and Annabeth nap together. He sleeps like a rock. Seriously the world could end and he wouldn’t wake up.
Frank sleeps as a bulldog. He finds it more comfortable that way though even he’s not sure why. It also allows him to curl up in Hazels room without risking Nico’s wrath, something he’s keen to avoid.
Hazel sleeps on her side and generally pretty fitfully, nightmares of the war and her first death haunting her. She only sleeps soundly when Frank the Bulldog is there which is pretty much the only reason Nico doesn’t kill Frank for sneaking into his sisters room.
Nico sleeps curled up in a ball so he takes up as little space as possible. Will thought it was cute until he found out why. It’s a habit somewhat left over from sleeping in crevices in caves that connect to the underworld but now a days it’s a leftover from Nico’s stint in the bronze jar where he didn’t even have enough room to breathe let alone anything else. This information made Will want to cry and also explained Nico’s severe claustrophobia.
Will sleeps sprawled on his back unless Nico is there. If the son of death is present the son of Apollo will curl up around him in his sleep. This is one of the only things, save a blessing from a child of Hypnos, that keep Nico’s nightmares of Tartarus and the Jar at bay.
So the dandelion has a loooooot of symbolism, but a few things it represents stuck out for me.
emotional and physical healing
happiness and youthful joy
surviving through the challenges life brings
and your dreams coming true
these things can apply to each character (Vilde, Isak, and Sana) right now but I feel like they are all going through a different phase of dealing with these things, and this is depicted by the way the dandelion is shown with them.
Let me explain
so first we have Vilde
she is holding onto the dandelions in her hand. Clutching onto them like she knows these dreams, challenges, and feelings she is going through exist but she is too scared to connect with them fully yet. So she is keeping them just out of reach. she can see them, she can feel them, she is aware of them however she is not ready to accept them and think about what they could mean.
so they stay in her hand, with these things just clutched in her control.
I also read somewhere that the latin name for dandelion comes from a french word that means “Lion’s Tooth” interesting that before we got this photo of Vilde holding ‘lions teeth’ while being with Eva; we had her telling Magnus that he had a lion’s cock.
coincidence? Knowing Julie I really doubt it.
Okay so then we have our flower prince Isak
This one is easy. unlike Vilde, Isak’s dandelion is tuck right behind his ear. He is actually wearing all of his feelings, challenges, the healing, the dreams the happiness. It is all here and finally Isak is in a place where he doesn’t just see it but he has accepted all of it and made it a part of who he is because it is. and he is wearing it for everyone to see.
it’s actually so beautiful for us to see this after seeing him struggle so much with everything in season 3. now he’s not just acknowledging his challenges and his feelings and his dreams, but he’s living them and sharing it with the world. He is in a good place, making everything the dandelion stands for, a part of him <3
Finally we have Sana
because this is the shot we receive before Sana sits down I believe it’s safe to say this represents Sana at the moment and the phase she is at with dealing with everything the dandelion symbolises.
Unlike the other two, Sana doesn’t even have a real life dandelion in her presence. it’s in a book…a book that she isn’t even looking at. it is next to her, she is avoiding it. pretending it doesn’t exist. Just like how she is avoiding all of her feelings and challenges and the possible happiness she could have.
she won’t let herself feel and acknowledge any of it. won’t let herself even think about those things being there. she is locking them all away to avoid any kind of pain that comes with those feelings and dreams and challenges.
she needs to heal also, but unlike Isak, her emotional pain is not healing thus why she doesn’t even have a dandelion for real. :(
to heal she needs to allow herself to feel.
the message that comes with a dandelion is also “do not give up”
and here we have Sana in this clip literally giving up the russbuss, her friends, and her bio buddy.
so yes Sana is completely avoiding the dandelion in this time.
