why does it show it's face

I just wanted to draw your attention to something I noticed while looking at 7 million gifs of this scene

This is Dean’s reaction to Cas’ “you’re my family… I love you” He’s full of pain, but is looking away because that what Dean does with his emotions.

however

This is Dean‘s reaction to “I love ALL of you.”

Just like us, Dean, has heard the distinction, and realised what that means, that Cas loves him in a manner unique to his love for the other Winchesters.

This is the face of a character who canonically just heard a confession of love. That is a “did he just?” face.

IN ADDITION

This is “you’re my family I love you” moose, with serious sad brows

This is a “why did he just say all of - OOOOOOOOhhhhh.” lightbulb moose (ill admit, its more distinctive on film than still image)

Let the record show that on episode 12.12, at 31:24, both Winchesters had canonically realised that Cas loves Dean - not as a snarky joke from an enemy, not a awkward misunderstanding of human personal space, not just friends - but real love.

It happened. They saw it. We all saw them see it.

It had better be acknowledged.

blue sargent can’t operate technology: a concept

 - gansey showing her a picture of something on Instagram and she does the mom thing™ where she tries to zoom in and gansey is like blue no

- “Ronan, Adam is calling you” “answer it” “how?” “Just slide the thing….no slide it..blue no..fucking christ just give it to me”

- not understanding the concept of snapchat at all. “so you just send pictures of your face to your friends?” “Yeah, like texting.” “then why don’t you just text each other?” “because its better. you get filters and it disappears after 10 seconds” “WHATS THE POINT???”

- eventually she does get an instagram but it’s not aesthetic at all. half of her pictures are of ronan falling (#clumsygay) and the other half is videos of herself singlehandedly trying to ruin gansey’s boat shoes.

- she can’t get the tv to switch from hdmi to regular cable even though adam has explained it 200 times

- she loves emojis and its endearing until she tries to communicate with no words just smiley faces and no one understands what is happening

- the only video game she is good at is mario kart so thats literally all they play (noah is very happy about this bc ronan always plays gta or some shit and gansey plays the fucking sims)

- I’ve been thinking about this one vine and just imagine,,, “Blue set a timer for 12 minutes” “kk” ….. “THE PIZZA IS BURNING!!!” “the timer didn’t go off” “i set it you can look” “Blue that’s the calculator”

- anyways im so here for this thank u for your time

why bobs burgers is possibly the purest show in the universe

- a good, loving family that does not despise each other, that sticks together, that bands together in the face of adversity

- in cliche tv shows families only tell each other they love each other in the face of danger/at the climax. not here. they regularly tell each other that they care even if it’s not an outright “i love you” it’s just acts of compassion and love and its not made a huge deal. It’s a regular occurrence for them.

- however when they do show their love in climactic moving parts its so great its so so great

- honestly? no matter how much they act dont like it they’d drop everything for another family member. all of the belchers are ride or die. not just linda. all of them.

- sometimes, things don’t work out how you want it to. Bob doesn’t get a good review, Gene doesn’t win the contest, Tina doesn’t get on the team, but it’s all okay. Bad things happen but there are good people around you and you’ll get through this it’s ok

- no matter what, they try their best. They’ll keep trying until the end even if the outcome isn’t what the want. And they accept their fate, but that’s not the same thing as giving up.

- I think im crying? this family is so good and pure and they deserve everything? i cant

- im going to quit life and become a bobs burgers account

- anyway im not in a great place in life rn and this show has saved me a lot i think and i just want to give them the world

confidence. I honestly forget baekhyun struggles with his own confidence, because we so often see him up there on stage; doing what he loves the most. I’m reminded whenever he makes himself seem small or when he talks in a whisper like voice. I was reminded today, because even though he belted out those high notes and was being his cute self, he also didn’t show his face or wanted anyone to re-upload. and it truly baffle me that this boy, who’s part of korea’s most successful boy group. this boy who’s the most popular member of this group. - sometimes struggles with being insecure. but I also understand that this is exactly why he sometimes feel like that too. so I ask you guys to always and I mean ALWAYS, leave encouraging comments on baekhyuns sns. he does so much for us and I just wants him to be happy.

based on a real show my friend attended...

How did Shitty get himself into this situation? Who knows, Lardo probably had something to do with it. Either way, he has found himself at the end of a performance art course with a one man show to put on and no idea what to do (and only the vaguest idea of how he got there in the first place).

Did he prepare beforehand? Take any of the continuous warnings about not leaving it to the last minute? Absolutely not, brah.

Cut to the performance, after a long week of freak out sessions with Lardo and a lot of crying and begging to Bitty. Surprisingly, the turn out is impressive, a full house. Lights up on Shitty, stark naked, sitting on a chair, slowly eating a grilled cheese sandwich - Bitty made it, so his rapturous expression and the single tear flowing down his face are only natural.

The critics all agree that it was the most moving moment of the otherwise slightly bemusing piece. How does a grilled cheese become a discussion of gender inequality in the US legal system, you may ask? Go along to the show and I’m sure Mr. Knight will let you know in great detail. More importantly, why is he naked? Why does his hair make me feel this way? Questions that may never have answers.

Overall, a truly wonderful example of avant garde theatre at its finest. A roaring success, defying all expectations.

The Signs and What:

Aries: Something that shambles on dried sinew and cracked bone. It shouldn’t be able to move, but it does. Everything about it is just too long.

Taurus: Something you’re damn sure you’ve seen before. You just know you’ve seen it. Remember quickly. It’s seen you.

Gemini: Something all whips and light. Gossamer threads like a spiderweb on the breeze. Don’t let it touch your skin.

Cancer: Something proud and holy now blind and deformed. Its features like melted wax it cannot determine threat from friend. The light it carries long gone out.

Leo: Something wearing a t-shirt. Its smile too wide, its pupils too thin, its breathing too shallow. Play along for now.

Virgo: Why the mall is empty at night. It doesn’t show up on the cameras.

Libra: Something that doesn’t walk. The best description of its movement is that it boils. A thousand animal faces shifting under roiling mass.

Scorpio: Something that loves you. Something that loves you so so dearly. Something that longs to embrace you.

Ophiuchus: Something that looks like you, but is unmistakably not you.

Sagittarius: Something that came with the rain. Sodden footsteps far louder than they should be. Stay dry.

Capricorn: Something that was like you, maybe. A long long time ago. Maybe. Time does strange things.

Aquarius: Something that is far too skinny to be able to move and yet here we are. Something with beautiful hair.

Pisces: Something sickeningly unstill. It looks as if its going to shake itself apart. It moves quickly.

Caffeine Challenge #17

Hi, all! I had a little trouble getting started, but I like where it went! You can read mine below or here (X)

Geneva stands on the outskirts of the town she built and feels the hostility radiating from the closed doors, the shuttered windows, the empty streets. There silence echoes out to her, accuses her, and she can see graffiti over the town’s sign. She doesn’t need to see it to know what it says.

The rebellion is successful. The Queen has fallen. Wanted dead.

It’s not a new thing, to be wanted dead. She’s been wanted dead by any number of people since she was very small. At least now there’s a reason for it.

She turns her back on the town (It’s already turned its back on her.) and shakes her head. She’s not resentful – far from it.

This is what she planned, after all.

———————————

It starts when she’s looking up (and up and up) at her brother. He’s regal and imposing, even with limbs that are too long, too thin, too weak. He changes the last part slowly, builds muscle like her father builds their kingdom, with sweat and dedication and something feral in their breast.

She looks up at him and thinks, You’re going to die. They’re going to kill you and you’re going to let them.

Turns out she’s half right. He lets his murderer put him down, lets the knife pierce his breast, lets them take the life from his eyes.

But they don’t kill him. She does.

If you have time / still want to, I'd love to see some fluffy Tim & Damian being brotherly in public. Maybe at a party or some kind of WE event where the media is watching them all closely so they have to play nice? Or the media hassling one of them and the other coming to the rescue?

Turned out kinda less-fluffy than I’d maybe meant it to be—it’s set in a time period wherein they’re still kind of not-good with each other. But hopefully you’ll enjoy. :)

“Tim.”

Bruce’s urgent hiss made Tim snap his head up from the technically-illegal champagne he’d been halfheartedly eyeing all evening in the vague hope that it might make the party slightly more tolerable. His eyes widened; his adopted father’s tie was missing and his shirt collar was askew, and he was about as non-death-related frantic as Tim had ever seen him outside the cowl, so he stuck the champagne flute somewhere behind him onto what he hoped was a table and hurried over to Bruce.

“What is it? Is it a vill—what…” Tim stopped short with a slight gasp now that he was up close. “Is that…lipstick?”

It didn't take Blake look to rush over to her love's side to see if she was okay.* Yang? Yang, Sweetie? Are you okay?
  • Kali: Calm down, Blake. Yang is fine. She just has a little bump on her head is all. The doctor said all she needs is some rest. *Kali told her daughter as she comforted her.*
  • Ghira: I don't understand. What happened while we were at the meeting?
  • Kali: Well... *Kali began, thinking back to earlier.*

  • Yang: Excuse me, Mrs B? Sorry to bother you but the spire bathroom is out of towel. Can I grab one from your? *Yang called out while she knocked on door to Blake's parents bathroom door, waiting a moment listening for Kali to reply as music played from the other side of the door.* Mrs B? *Yang asked again knocking slightly louder.*
  • Kali: Huh? Yes? Is that you Yang? *Kali questioned through the door, the music's volume lowering.*
  • Yang: Yeah It's me. Sorry about this but can I barrow a towel? The other bathroom doesn't have any.
  • Kali: Oh of course dear. You can come on in and get them, I'm wearing a robe. There in the closet to the left.
  • Yang: Okay cool. *Yang smiled, opening the door slightly to pock her head to to find Kali was indeed wearing a robe as she sat on the edge of the bath before enter, Keeping her eyes casted downward.* Pardon my interruption.

  • Blake: Yang? How are you feeling? Yang? *Blake asked worryingly.*
  • Yang: Mmmrr, no Mrs B. Only Blake can groom me... *Yang quietly mumbled, still not fully conscious causing both Ghira and Blake to turn their questions stares to the somewhat nervous Kali.*
  • Blake: Mom? She is she mumbling about? *Blake questions while narrowing her eyes.*
  • Kali: I-I have no idea.
  • Ghira: Kali. Tell me you didn't tease the poor girl.
  • Kali: ...
  • Ghira: Kali.
  • Kali: It was an accident.
  • Blake: Oh my god! Mom!
  • Kali: Well on the bright side you know Yang is very loyal to you. Soooo it's not all bad.
  • Ghira: *Ghira could only sigh with his daughter as they both crossed their arms and pinched the bridge of their noses.* This is Ilia all over again.
  • Blake: Tell me about it.
  • Yang: I demand a Blakey bath when the room stops spinning.* Yang randomly said holding up her metal hand.*

So i very strongly sided with the mages until i saw what it turned into at the end of da:2 and what happens in da:i, i can fully support wanting more freedoms and to be given a chance at a real life, but what it looks like theyre trying to do is rebuild the tevinter imperium and i cannot support that, but i still dont agree with the templars either, and honestly this whole thing couldve been avoided if the chantry had been a little more lenient with the circle

What it leaded to in DA2? I don’t know what you mean really. Unless you mean Anders’ actions, but he wasn’t acting with any other mages. And at the end of the game he was so fused with Justice I don’t think we can even be sure he would’ve acted the same way if he were just himself. Also, what it lead to? It led to the mages - who did not do anything - all going to be killed because of it, well actually Meredith had already sent for the right of annulment before Anders’ actions so… yeah I can’t really see how I’m meant to blame mages for that? There are a few instances in da2 when mages do bad things, but they’re always a reaction to the insane amount of abuse in that circle.

And what do you mean in da:i? In what way are they ‘rebuilding the Tevinter Imperium’? Please send in another ask because I don’t get it? I might be missing something?

I do agree that the Chantry could’ve avoided the whole thing, but it would have meant an entire restructuring of the Circle, not just ‘being a little more lenient’. The Circle would have to stop being a prison and become an actual place where mages can be save and learn in safety. And I don’t think the Chantry would ever be willing to do so, considering how much power and money they would lose.

I view the question of ‘templars vs mages’ as simply this: are the horrors of the circle a justified necessary evil to protect the rest of the population from the possible crimes, or accidental destruction caused by mages?

That’s the only question that matters. That’s where the true grey morality of this issue comes in. Do you think the chantry is right that mages are so inherently dangerous that they need to be held prisoner their entire lives? That the Chantry has the right to decide which of them need to be made tranquil, or punished in other ways, and which entire circles get to be murdered down to the last child?

My answer is always going to be no. That’s why I support the mages. Always. And not just because we’ve already seen more peaceful solutions in game.

Just think about it, in the real world if we determine which groups are most likely to commit violent crimes, would you support pre-emptively locking them up? (Remember, modern day weapons can be as dangerous as any magic we’ve seen in game.) Probably not.

And let’s be clear, even a circle where there is no abuse is still a horrific idea in principle:

- Being locked up the rest of your life

- cut of from family

- not allowed to go outside

- not allowed to form romantic attachments

- not allowed to have a family (and having any child you might have taken away from you)

- living with armed men instructed to kill you if you necessary

- being constantly told you’re basically a walkign bomb so dangerous the world needs to be protected from you

- Living with the threat of the right of annulment your whole life

- Living with the threat of being made tranquil (yes yes, until you pass a horrifying test, unless you live in one of the circles that ignore that rule and oh yes the chantry and the circle has a huge monetary incentive to make you tranquil or suggest you allow them to make you tranquil even before the test)

Even if this prison - and it is a prison no matter how cosy the beds - doesn’t suffer from any abuse of power it’s still a horror show. But then I don’t think there will be a circle with no abuse. Just because predatory people are often dawn to positions where they can enact abuse and get away with it and the circle is the perfect place; no one gives a shit about the mages. Also, the only circles we’ve seen in game have been abusive, I find it odd to presume there must be a perfect circle where there is only the horrors of it being a prison.

And I haven’t even gotten into the whole idea that the Chantry makes money off making people tranquil, which kinda motivates them to make more mages tranquil, if only to keep the money flowing. Or that if the Chantry ever admitted that mages don’t need constant surveillance it means they will either have to admit that the templars are mainly there to be the Chantry’s military arm, or cut down on how many templars there are, and so weaken the Chantry’s power. (That’s what I mean when I say getting rid of the Circles would cost the Chantry too much.)

On the subject of ‘trying to rebuild the Tevinter Imperium’, I have to say the abuses of the Tevinter Imperium are not caused by magic, so assuming a society where Mages are free and able to be in positions of power, is going to be ‘like the Tevinter Imperium’ is just not how it works.

Slavery isn’t something exclusive to magic (well using spirits as slaves as well might be), and (blood) magic, is just the tool they use to enact their cruelty. If they had no magic they would find other ways. And to be frank, while I’m sure the other nations we have seen in game would claim moral superiority over Tevinter, I don’t think they can. Look at the way they treat the elves? Look at what the Chantry has done? Profiting off making people tranquil, making Templars addicted to something they control?

Also, remember the elves being sold into slavery in da:o? Do you think that was the only time that happened? It seems pretty unlikely doesn’t it?

So yes Tevinter is horrible, but I think the problem with saying ‘they want to rebuild the Tevinter Imperium’ is that it fails to recognise that the other nations have their own horrors and that depending on who (or what race) you are in Ferelden or Orlais, your life might already be as bad as that of the lowliest person in Tevinter.

It’s easy to judge the mage rebellion for causing too much destruction etc etc, but it’s not like the Chantry would ever have willingly let them go. The mages were pushed in a corner, they didn’t one day decide that they would cause this. I would love it if peaceful revolution was possible but it isn’t. It’s always a question of what are you willing to sacrifice to gain your freedom.

DA:I could have been a great morally muddled story about what is justified in the name of revolution, of freedom. It could’ve shown us a mage rebellion where some are forced to fight, where some mages only take revenge for the abuse they suffered, while others desperately tried to find peaceful ways to change the world. It could have shown us templars being pushed to the edge by the chantry, and those who gleefully hunt and kill mages. It could’ve shown us exactly how much it costs templars to break with the Chantry.

Cullen does to a degree show us and in DA2 we had Samson, but I would’ve liked something like a Knight-Captain who objected morally to the abuses of the Chantry, tried to reason with them to go against amoral orders and ended up with the Chantry cutting off his lyrium supply so he was forced to watch the templars under his command suffer and a few of them die. Actually that would’ve made a great quest that with show us exactly how little control templars really have.

I’m just going to end with some links with more information on the mages and the Circle/ Chantry/ templars. I think all these help to get the whole picture on the situation for mages, necessary to understand why revolution was unavoidable (and before you judge their rebellions as ‘going too far.’)

1. A post discussing why Anders did what he did and why other options weren’t available. I’m not entirely decided on whether I support Anders’ actions myself, but this is an interesting read on why the mages had to rebel to gain any power and why it’s difficult to judge them for it. It also touches on more abuses of the Chantry.

2. A post with a number of reactions to the idea of the Circle being ‘a nice place’ which it can’t be by its very nature. Also mentions some other abuses that will happen in even ‘peaceful circles’ like Anders’ punishment of solitary confinement for a year, which is literal torture and if you want to understand to what extent a quick google search will do on why solitary confinement is torture.

3. A great post about why tranquility is not a mercy and in fact a system that is incredibly vulnerable to abuse (and not just in da2). Also touches on how the Circle provides the Chantry with funds (and so power, which of course makes their ‘magic is evil we will protect’ you bs stink a little more.)

4. A post discussing why not all templars can ‘just stop taking lyium’ which helps to show that they’re basically trapped in this system as well.

5. A post combining resources about the abuses the mages face in da2, I’d recommend reading it even if you feel you know all of them already because I’ve played da2 many many times and I was surprised by some of these. Also remember that just because this is the worst circle we’ve seen it does not mean the abuses are unique to this circle.

6. A post explaining more about the Chantry and why it needs its military arm, and how it abuses that power. ties in to how they can’t admit that mages don’t need constant surveillance without either admitting the real use of templars.

7. A post about the theory that templars aren’t meant to protect mages but are meant to make sure there aren’t too many mages. (In other words, they are there to kill mages.) I don’t necessarily agree with everything in the post, though it does make sense that the Chantry would limit how many mages there are in any one circle to prevent an uprising. Still the post contains some interesting discussions about the templars tactics and how they don’t make sense if they’re meant to just protect mages. This of course does not mean every day templars are aware of what the real order are and I imagine there are templars who truly believe they are meant to protect mages.

8. A really good post on why Meredith wasn’t ‘just doing what she thought best’ and was pretty horrible before the red lyrium business. Also, while it’s easy to say meredith does not represent the Chantry the fact is the Chantry never stepped in and at the very least it shows how rife this system is for abuse and how little people or the Chantry care what happens to mages.

11) Beauty and the Beast: Noooooo oneeee’s hot like Gaston, a big shot like Gaston, no one makes men  question their sexual thoughts like Gaston.

Its basically the same story you remember from the animated Disney movie, but now LeFou’s crush on Gaston is overt. And he dances with a boy at Belle and Adam’s wedding. I’d like to take a break from my usual nonsense and have moment of sincerity: I never thought I’d live to see the day that Disney had an openly gay character.  EAT YOUR HEART OUT HOMOPHOBES.

Anyway, LeFou was honestly my favorite part of this movie. Not just because he’s openly gay, but because he’s really charasmatic and funny. In an interesting change from the original movie, LeFou starts to question Gaston’s actions towards the end of the movie and, well, I let you see the rest for yourself.

  • Pros: Funny, enjoyable, guy; and, I believe, the first openly gay character in a Disney movie!
  • Cons: he’s not a main character, so the story doesn’t really focus on him.

12) Skam: Evan and Isak, minute by minute.

Skam is a Norwegian drama about a bunch of high schoolers. In season 3, it gets a gay couple, Isak and Evan. Don’t skip the first two seasons though. 1) They’re very good, and 2) if you don’t watch them you won’t know what’s going on.

Pros: Skam is a very well written show with interesting characters. Evan and Isak’s relationship is so … so …

Their story arc is so sweet, and funny, and moving. I watched it and had to cling to my friend’s shoulder for dear life the entire time because its so romantic I couldn’t support myself. You’re going to cry, but I promise you, you’re going to cry tears of joy. It will cleanse your soul. It will make you think that maybe, just maybe, life can be good and beautiful.

Cons: No.

13) The Lover: Boy teases the everloving out of his room mate. Hilarity ensues.

The Lover is a K-Drama about unmarried couples who are living together. Unmarried couples, and Takuya and Joon Jae. Joon Jae is a misanthrope who advertises for a foreign room mate so that they won’t speak Korean and he won’t have to talk to them. What gets is Takuya, a Japanese guy who is traveling the world. Takuya is determined to get Joon Jae to come out of his shell.

  • Pros: Its fucking hilarious. Takuya is the biggest tease on the face of the planet. He does something provocative, and Joon Jae just looks up at the sky like “Lord why are you testing me?” The show itself also represents a big step forward for Korea, where couples living together out of wedlock and homosexuality are somewhat taboo.
  • Cons: They are one of several couples, so the show doesn’t focus entirely on them.

Its James Bond baby, spy Shenanigans are happening, as per usual. Baddie of the moment Raoul Silva kidnaps 007 and ties him to a chair. So we’re off to an excellent start, and THEN Silva pops a button on Bond’s shirt and slowly pushes the fabric aside, running his fingers over the scar tissue and groaning sympathetically. “See what [M]’s done to you?” he says.

“Well,” says Bond, deadpan and unruffled, “she never tied me to a chair.”

“Her loss.” says Silva blithely, running his fingers across bond’s exposed chest appreciatively.

“Are you sure this is about M?” Bond asks, the corner of his mouth lifting in an almost imperceptible smirk.

“Its about her,” Silva says, “and you, and me.”

“You see, we are the last two rats. We can eat each other, hmm?” smiling tightly, “or eat everyone else.” he says, running his hand up Bond’s clavicle and under his chin.

“How you’re trying to remember your training now.” Silva says, his smile morphing into an open mouthed grin as he rubs his thumb over Bond’s throat, “What’s the regulation to cover this?”

“Well,” Silva purrs, running his hands down Bond’s spread thighs, “first time for everything, yes?”

Now it is Bond’s turn to smile.

What makes you think this is my first time?”

  • Pros: TURN DOWN FOR WHAT?
  • Cons: Its only one scene, but to be honest that alone is worth the price of admission. I’m not a James Bond fan at all, but this? This is art.

Please reblog to spread the word!

Coming attractions I’m adding on mobile like haaa: Murdoch mysteries.

Senpai, you have such an amazing art style! It's super easy to draw! Do you have any tips on how you draw and proportion the bodies?

Hello~! And also; Thank You! As for proportions of the body I have a few tips for you. A lot of this I’ve learned from my college art courses as well as several books and tutorials online haha. I’ve done the process as well visually here!

1.) OPTIONAL: Make a stick figure drawing of the pose. It can be as small as your thumb (a thumb-nail sketch is the actual term haha) or as big as the page; whatever shows you the flow and direction of the form!  This is helpful if you’ve never done the pose before, or if you have a vague feeling of what you want but have a hard time drawing it out right away. You can make as many of these as you want; whatever it takes to get the right one! Art takes time, its important to know that as you work so you don’t feel rushed.

2.) Make a gesture drawing of what the pose is. This is a very fast drawing of where the body will be (If you’re drawing traditionally, make it very light!). The gesture drawing is basically a very loose rough draft; it’ll almost never be completely correct anatomy-wise, but it will give you a place to start adjustments. Staring at a blank piece of paper/canvas and trying to draw it all completely correctly on the first try will take a nightmare-ish amount of time, so you’re basically getting a vast amount of mistakes out of the way first and foremost.

3.) Adjust the rough draft, and don’t be concerned that you have to adjust the same thing over and over again as you fix other parts. Things make more sense as they come together and you begin to see other mistakes, so this part may take awhile. (traditionally you use a nice white eraser for this or use a blue pencil very lightly at first and gradually increasing pressure with each new adjustment, but digitally I just use the keybindings (which are set up in most art programs as) [cntrl+T] to adjust bits and pieces.)

3.2.)ZOOM IN AND OUT OF THE CANVAS. Taking a look from far away after working with it closely for so long will show you any other mistakes you’ve made proportion-wise.

3.3.) If something in the drawing you know isn’t anatomically correct but it looks and feels right, leave it. That’s artistic liberty talking; an influence of style. Its a rare case but it does happen. However you must be absolutely sure; this can’t be influenced by tiredness or feeling lazy. Leave the drawing and come back if you’re unsure and you’ll generally see why.

4.) Add details to the rough draft/adjusted gesture drawing. This means clothes, hair, face details, etc. Placement is important based on the pose, so make sure you’re still following the line of direction you had with the first two steps based on what’s happening in the picture. If you’re drawing someone that’s falling, make the clothes and hair in the correct direction, etc…

5.) Do the line art, preferably on a new layer for clean lines or just fixing everything up on the original layer for a more rough style (It depends on what you like!). Once you take away the rough draft you’ll see anything else thats wrong and can fix the rough draft beneath, erase the line art section where its off and re-do it (if you’re keeping the rough draft/erasing as you go, zoom in and out again when its clean.)

PROPORTIONS DONE YOU DID IT! Of course if you want maximum accuracy you should use a reference/model, but it tends to be hard to find the right pose out of thousands and not everyone can have a friend ready to model at all times, so this is some you can do without it. Remember that looking at yourself in a mirror is also very helpful for deciphering proportion!

SOME MISCELLANEOUS TIPS: When extended, the tips of your fingers generally reach mid-thigh. The face is an oval thats cut in half for the placement of the eyes, nose, and mouth, and your hands are generally about as big as half your face. Of course, these can be exaggerated at-will for your style, and not everyone is a generic person with the same features, so keep that in mind as you work! Some people have big feet or hands, most people have uneven features, and almost no one has perfectly balanced faces. That kind of perfection is reserved for unnatural beings and photoshopped models, so have fun doing what you like anyway.

—->Generally in cartoons faces are meant to be even because anything overly misapplied tends to be unnerving, so also keep that in mind haha.

Here’s a drawing exercise: Make a bunch of stick figures in various poses. Fill a whole page/canvas! Exaggerate the level of intensity! Note the direction of flow and the lines of action, maybe in red pen. (These can all just be thumbnail sketches.) A fun thing to do is open a video of people dancing and pausing the frames every so often and drawing their lines of action from there.

After Yuri's hair is as long as viktor's used to be, it's much more silky smooth and thick than Viktor's was, and Viktor can't help but just /hate it/, and probably hates it even more when finding out Yuri literally does nothing to it, just shampoos, maybe conditions it if he remembers, and it still so soft and luxurious and Viktor's just "WHY?!"

The People Vs O.J. Simpson

Last night, I watched the first episode of AMERICAN CRIME STORY: THE PEOPLE VS O.J. SIMPSON. I think it’s the most important thing I’ll see all year.

I’ll get the surface admiration out of the way. First, I think it’s extremely well-produced. Rich cinematography. Almost uniformly masterful performances. It’s a suspenseful take on perhaps the most famous criminal case of all time, and that feels nearly miraculous to me.

But I also admire it on deeper levels. Thus far, the show has a rare sense of compassion for Mr. Simpson. He’s not purely the monster, the tyrant-buffoon, the privileged narcissist–and, yes, the slick, black boogeyman–he so often has been portrayed to be. He’s a man: a father, friend, ex-husband, and son going through the worst nightmare of his life. Cuba Gooding, Jr., is giving his best performance since JERRY MAGUIRE.

And yet that compassion is not at all at odds with the fact of the matter: If you study the case in any substantial way (and I have) and can go beyond the ideological and sociology-driven knee-jerks that might tempt us, it’s hard to come to any conclusion except that Mr. Simpson was responsible for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman.

Why was he acquitted? It’s easy to say “Because of race,” and a lesser show might have gone for that low-hanging fruit, but it’s perhaps not entirely accurate (although one African-American juror, when asked why she voted to acquit, replied, “We have to take care of our own”). In my opinion, Mr. Simpson was acquitted because he had a ruthlessly brilliant defense team, and faced a bumbling prosecution, and because the LAPD was an insidiously corrupt force that, to many, deserved humiliation.

The show does a fine job of contextualizing the Simpson case, which took place when the Rodney King verdict and riots were still fresh wounds. And here is the thing: It is impossible to watch that footage and not think, Ferguson. Baltimore. Now.

Which is why I think AMERICAN CRIME STORY: THE PEOPLE VS O.J. SIMPSON is the most important show of 2016: In its own way, it is invoking Rodney King’s cry for us to turn away from the instinct to generalize, hate, and violate out of rage. It is asking us to look into the soul of a man we’ve come to loathe, to see him again as something other than a cartoon, something other than a symbol and shorthand for so many perspectives of our racially-torn society. I feel comfortable saying unequivocally that Mr. Simpson is a murderer; it simply would have been impossible for the police, however racist, to do the things the defense claimed they did. Yet while there is no excuse for his actions, whatever happened that night was clearly the worst moment of Mr. Simpson’s life. And my heart and my faith will not allow me to see that for anything other than what it is: an act of evil, yes, but also a soul-shaking tragedy.

We live in a time of two extremes: We’re acknowledging more and more that racial inequity exists, and we’re becoming, it seems, less and less willing to examine it with the complexity it deserves. We continue to stereotype one another; we continue to react against the stereotypes; we continue to perpetuate the dreadful cycles that threaten to doom us.

AMERICAN CRIME STORY asks us to sit with our discomfort for an hour every week. It asks us to reexamine our certainties, and it does this by showing what I think for many will be one of the most startling facts about the case: O.J. Simpson is human. By now, we in America have examined the Simpson case and trial so much that we all know how it happened (or think we do). AMERICAN CRIME STORY wants us to ask why: why Mr. Simpson likely did it, why the verdict of a simple double-murder still means so much, and why the show itself will no doubt enrage people on both sides.

For me, this is one of the great acts of storytelling courage in recent memory. It is also a message we all so desperately need to hear.
