why do we vote for then

I admit I’m not fully sober right now, but listen up:

I just looked over at my cat and realized that she doesn’t give a shit about who’s president.  And why doesn’t she give a shit?  Because I take care of her.

So here’s what we’re gonna do, we’re all gonna take care of each other.  Watch each other’s back, let each other vent, support your friends who are lgbt, black, disabled, muslim, or any of the things that a Trump presidency is hateful towards.

Go fucking vote in 2018, every single House seat is contested in the mid-term.  But until then, UNITE, ok?  Enough of this clique shit, we’re all fighting the same battle.

We’re gonna take care of each other.  We’re gonna make it.  And we’re gonna kick ass in the long run.

1.) undocumented immigrants cannot vote, accusing 2 million plus who voted are undocumented immigrants has no basis or truths behind it.

2.) by making this ridiculous claim that will make liberals rebuke it, it then also makes the calls for auditing the vote and recount also appear as ridiculous and make democrats look like sore losers and hypocritical.

This is how Donald won and continues to win, everything he says his opponents are doing, he is doing himself.

ok you guys this is the only political thing i will be posting on here but re: the 2018 and 2020 elections - YOU HAVE TO VOTE. AND DEMOCRATS HAVE TO WIN THEIR CAMPAIGNS FOR STATE LEGISLATURES. IT IS SO SO SO IMPORTANT.

why is it so important

because in 2020 we will have a census, which means that in 2022 districts will be redrawn.

what does that have to do with anything

GERRYMANDERING.

 wtf is gerrymandering?

gerrymandering is the redrawing of districts to benefit a specific political party. basically, if the republican party is gerrymandering, they will split a heavily democratic area into different districts and lump them in with primarily republican areas in order to dilute the voting power of democrats. democrats will do the same to republicans. this practice has been deemed unconstitutional by the SCOTUS, but they’ve never agreed on a way to regulate it, so it still happens. in most states, the state legislature creates a redistricting plan, so if you want elections for the next 10 years to swing democratic, you NEED to elect democrats to your state legislature. as of now, most states are districted to favor republicans, and in 2022 republicans would only gerrymander more, making it even harder for democrats to be elected.

BE READY TO MOBILIZE AND CAMPAIGN FOR DEMOCRATS AT THE LOCAL AND STATE LEVEL IN 2018 AND 2020, BECAUSE THE PEOPLE WE ELECT WILL HAVE A HUGE SAY IN THE NEXT TEN YEARS OF OUR GOVERNMENT.

When we are young, people in Germany are told about what happened in WW II. It’s such a central point in our education that it recurrs in multiple school subjects over years. We know what happened and how it could happen. Why people voted for Hitler, how people stood by in pretended ignorance and used Jews, POC, disabled people and LGTB as scapegoats for everything that went wrong and ignored what happened to them because it wasn’t their problem.

Now, we see something similar in America. We see a man use such violent racism and hatred rise and become the most powerful man in the world. The parallels are there no matter how hard some people try to deny it. If you ask yourself: How could Hitler rise? You have your answer now.

It’s a true reminder that people do not learn from history, but the thing is history will not forget.

Whatever will come out of this? We don’t know.

People in germany have watched the election unfold with so much worry because we know what could happen, but we felt secure because ‘there is no way he would win. It’s so obvious people can’t be that stupid.’ but well…

Take this advice from a german history student: Stay together and support your minorities. If you are white and cishet then it’s not the time to ignore what might happen only because you are going to be unaffected by it. Be a decent human being, if you see discrimination fight against it for the good of the people, speak out against it, make them feel secure because this is their country as well. If more people had felt that way 70 years ago, maybe it might’ve changed something. Do not make the same mistake my grandparents generation did and be a passive supporter of a regime based on discrimination and hatred.

The first sentence of our constitution is ‘Human dignity shall be inviolable’, and it’s not a sentence that should only apply to Germany, but a sentence that should apply to all people.

what continues to amaze me about trump supporters is if you ask them to explain why they voted for trump they cant give an answer besides I hated Hillary more.

And then they cant even explain why they hate Hillary. I asked a kid in my class today who voted for trump (a white middle class college boy) why he didn’t like Hillary and I told him to do it without saying the word email or the word women.

He couldn’t do it. He literally had no reason as to why he voted for Trump besides “he’ll be a better president” and “clinton is a liar”

But my FAVORITE thing is how people that voted for him KEEP HAVING TO EXPLAIN THEMSELVES. “trumps not gonna do all the things he said he would” THEN WOULD DID YOU VOTE FOR HIM. “you’re over reacting trump wont do any of those things we have checks and balances” LITERALLY WHY DID YOU VOTE FOR A MAN THAT YOU LITERALLY DO NOT BELIEVE WILL FOLLOW THROUGH ON HIS CAMPAIGN  PROMISES “dont believe everything the media says” WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT  “clinton was a liar and a traitor” YOU ELECTED THE BIGGEST LIAR INTO OFFICE HE LIED ABOUT HIS CAMPAIGN PROMISES THE VERY FOUNDATION OF WHAT HE WILL DO AS PRESIDENT AND YOURE OK WITH HIM LYING AND MAKE EXCUSE AFTER EXCUSE AS TO WHY ITS OK .

Not a single trump supporter i’ve ever talked to can explain to me why they voted for trump. Not one. They talk themselves through circles because even they know they don’t have a reason.

We judged a woman on the merits of her husband and held her to a higher standard then her opponent. The same opponent who trashed every known minority and whose approval rating still went up.Because of this a racist cheeto is now going to be our president.

We must remain strong and we must remain together. We are alive and we will survive. Maybe it wont be as bad as we expect. We must have hope for a better future because without hope we will fall apart.

I’m actually really pissed how well Trump is doing, what the FUCK.

I expected fucking Georgia and all the bitch ass Southerners to vote for him, but why is Florida flip flopping, why is Michigan struggling, why is Ohio struggling, why is he winning at all, he should’ve been DECIMATED, we all thought anyone who went up against Trump would be sure to win.

What the fuck, what the fuck, what the fuck, I’m so damn pissed about this….

I’m watching these live updates, and all i have to say is what the fuck is wrong with you, michigan??

The world itself’s just one big hoax. Spamming each other with our burning commentary of bullshit masquerading as insight. Our social media faking as intimacy. Or is it that we voted for this? Not with our rigged elections, but with our things. Our property. Our money. I’m not saying anything new. We all know why we do this. Not because Hunger Games books makes us happy. But because we wanna be sedated.

Why are we always seeing these articles asking, “Why did they vote for Trump even though he promises to get rid of their healthcare!?”  And its like…You KNOW why.  Stop dancing around it, point out the elephant in the room and admit that gold old fashioned racism made people vote against their own interest…yet again.  Stop trying to humanize them and make it look like they made a “mistake”.  They knew what they were doing.  They just hoped it would fall back on the “moochers” of society (aka people of color, Jews, the poor, etc.) and they would be the “exception” and would get to sit and watch our lives be ruined.

And surprise, surprise, it didn’t work out that way, just like it didn’t work out that way the last time.

How about we humanize the kids who are scared of being deported, or the families who will lose the little bit of money they make once the minimum wage gets gutted.  How about we humanize black families who are afraid of a nationwide stop and frisk?  What about people scared of a Muslim registry or Jewish people who are frightened that Steve Bannon is in a position to act on his bullshit?  What about the people of color who’s vote were contested and showed up anyways…just to find out that their friends and neighbors voted to ruin everyone’s lives just to spite them.  Why not talk about how those people were “tricked” by the voters who smiled to their faces, and voted for a white supremacist behind their backs, and are only concerned because it backfired?

slobsims  asked:

why do you hate JK Rowling? Hope this doesn't come off as rude, I'm just confused

No problem. Not a lot of people know how she has treated Scotland. In 2014 she spent £1 million keeping the country I live in tied to the proto-Fascist government in Westminster. She called those who opposed this move “death eaters” and threatened to remove all her charity money from Scotland if we didn’t vote the way she wanted.

We’re still controlled by a government that has been investigated for crimes against humanity for their treatment of the disabled because of JK Rowling. We’re still tied to a government that wants to make the UK healthcare system MORE like the US system that is killing so many Americans. We can’t accept disabled child refugees because of JK Rowling. We still have another country’s massive (and occasionally malfunctioning) nuclear weapons being stored just outside our largest city because of JK Rowling. And to top it all off, we’re being dragged out of the EU against our will because of JK fucking Rowling.

She doesn’t give to charity to help people, but to wield power over them. I have no respect for her and I never will.

You know how there are stories all over the media now about how Scotland hated Donald Trump for years before the rest of the world joined in? Someday the rest of the world will catch up with us on JK Rowling too.

hey heres something you need to consider too: stop respecting your politcians

your politicians are temp workers. you hire them to do some short term work and if you like them, you keep them on the job. if you dont you toss their ass out on the street and make sure no one uses their services again.

YOU hire them. YOU fire them. they work for YOU. when you say jump, they should ask when high and when they can come down. it is ridiculous to think we should be deferential to people whose jobs we control. why do you respect them? they owe you their job, personally. unless you didnt vote for them, in which case you have more of a reason to be pissed and want to make it clear youre getting a new guy in there.

you have to make your local politicians sweat for their jobs if you ever want them to listen to you. you need to make it clear that they SERVE YOU, not the other way around. they’ve forgotten how this system seems to work, so maybe some crude reminders are in order. treat your local politicians with hostility until they get their act together and remind them who’s in charge.

And now we have the opportunity to create more change. I want my daughter to grow up seeing a woman lead our country, and know that her possibilities are limitless. We have to think about the future of our daughters, our sons, and vote for someone who cares for them as much as we do. And that is why I’m with her. If you’re ready for freedom, make some noise!”

Oh, I don’t know. Is it that we collectively thought Steve Jobs was a great man, even when we knew he made billions off the backs of children? Or maybe it’s that it feels like all our heroes are counterfeit? The world itself’s just one big hoax. Spamming each other with our running commentary of bullshit, masquerading as insight, our social media faking as intimacy. Or is it that we voted for this? Not with our rigged elections, but with our things, our property, our money. I’m not saying anything new. We all know why we do this, not because Hunger Games books makes us happy, but because we wanna be sedated. Because it’s painful not to pretend, because we’re cowards. Fuck society.

“The importance of voting is tremendous. I want to feel like the person that’s in the white house is there because I helped them get there…All those fears that you have we’re gonna put them to rest. Why? Because it is vital that we vote November 8th, it is vital that we understand the power of our voice…You’re gonna go out there and you’re gonna bring your friends and your family. You’re gonna make sure that anyone that feels disenfranchised, anyone that feels afraid, that doesn’t feel like they have any kind of inspiration to be a part of this country, well you are. You are a part of this country and you matter. And your voice matters and your vote matters. So lets do this, lets do this together. -  Gina Rodriguez

TOP 50 CHARACTERS (as voted by my followers) - #45. Wes Gibbins.
“You can’t defend Griffin! I saw him fighting with Rebecca. He’s not a good guy like you think. And he’s got everything… The school, money… But Rebecca’s got nothing. She’s alone, a… a pawn. And isn’t that why you do this? Defend people? So they get a fair trial? But that’s not gonna happen for her because she’s poor. And I don’t think that’s fair or right, and… If you want to fire me, fine. But she needs you.”

THE MAMA DRINKING GAME

As you’re all probably aware of, this Friday - December 2nd - is the MAMAs! And because @haekt and I hate our livers and love EXO too much to care about our health, we’ve decided to turn the whole award show into a drinking game!

And we’ve made some rules if you wanted to join in (and are legally allowed to drink)!

⋆ Take a shot every time EXO wins.

⋆ Take a shot every time someone says something in English.

⋆ Take a shot every time you spot someone wearing a turtleneck.

⋆ Take a shot every time the camera finds EXO.

–> extra shot if it catches Chanyeol being a cute shy ball of fluff!

⋆ Take a shot every time someone cries.

–> extra shot if you cry too!

⋆ Take a shot every time Mamamoo do their harmonising introduction.

⋆ Take a shot every time someone from Monsta X shows their abs.

⋆ Take a shot every time you spot someone wearing a choker.

⋆ Take a shot every time the camera falls on someone dancing along to the performance.

Feel free to send us other ideas or add your own!

And add us on snapchat to watch this drunken mess unfold!

If harry doesn't tweet, he truly is restricted as well, everyone around him went extra so we knew he was happy about it and appreciative and its' important to him because of everyone tweeting about it, he did last year so I think theres' definitely something with him as well.

Everyone around him tweeted including his managers, stylist, mother, sister, band mates. If he could, he would. This was a fan voted award, and I don’t think for a second that he would completely ignore that. I too think he was not allowed to tweet about this and I really really wonder why.

The Price of Life

Context: I’m DMing an oversize party and half of my players were unable to attend due to various reasons. So their characters just passed out including the moral compass of the group. This left them with the bard, sorcerer, wizard and warlock. So they are discussing a door covered in blood runes in infernal that talk of containing souls and sealing magical beings. Which led to this conversation:

Bard: I vote we go back to town and request aid from their priests.

Sorcerer: If we did go to town and request a priest we would be charged with their safety.

Wizard: If they died it would come out of our paycheck.

Everyone: *considers this for a moment*

Wizard: Can anyone afford a human life?

lemme break it down: whoever becomes america’s president will not only affect america but the entire world. the shitty thing is we don’t get a say. all we can do is urge americans to go out and vote for someone that won’t royally fuck us over.

i get it. hillary isn’t perfect. she sure as hell isn’t my first choice. but you bet your ass i would be down at the polls voting for her if i was an american citizen. why? because she has experience. she leans liberal. she might not get us everything we want but she is determined to chip away at the horrible bullshit america has circulated over the years. obama is behind her. bernie is behind her. so many desperate poc and lgbtqa+ people are behind her. voting for trump is spitting in our face, and disrespecting us. it’s taking away our worth as human beings. this isn’t even about voting for the lesser of two evils. it’s about doing what’s right. it’s about supporting the minorities that have never had the upper hand.

please, i beg you, do not vote for trump. i’m a canadian and i’m actually terrified that hillary will lose. we need her. we need someone that will listen and compromise and still be progressive. we need someone that wouldn’t send me to conversion therapy. we need her.

please go out and vote tomorrow. and please, vote hillary.

NO HE’S FREAKING NOT!!

So the New York Times has fallen to prey to one of its “look at the honorable John McCain being all non-partisan and honorable” spasms.

The story is always the same: it’s some version of “war hero John McCain said something that Republicans don’t usually say! What heroism and roguosity!”

Except …

Does McCain ever actually, you know, DO ANYTHING? Does he vote against any Trump nominees? Filibuster Bush’s torture orders? (As man who was tortured himself, McCain’s inaction in this area was literally despicable.)

So far McCain has threatened to vote against ONE Trump nominee: the budget director. Why? The nominee supported cuts to the defense budget.

The only time John McCain acts like the hero he is claimed to be is when someone threatens to make the US spend less money on killing people. Otherwise, he’s a straight party hack, and it’s long past time we make it clear that SAYING you oppose something is not enough, particularly when you are one of 100 people IN THE WORLD who can DO something about it.

Moral courage lies in action that entails risk. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen anything like that from John McCain.

When journalists say “The president is telling obvious lies”, they are doing their job.

When a judge says “Complying with this executive order would be illegal”, she’s doing her job.

When senators vote against Trump’s cabinet picks, because they don’t think they are good for the country, they are doing their job.

When the President of Mexico says “Actually, we won’t pay for the wall”, he is definitely doing his job.

—  Benjamin Murphy on Quora, in response to “Why won’t people just let Trump do his job?”
