Destigmatizing sex work doesn’t mean making it cool and fun, it’s about giving disenfranchised women basic human rights, the vast majority of sex workers experience homelessness, drug addiction, gender based violence, rape + murder and are completely unable to seek help because most forms of sex work are criminalized all over the world
i consider that more destigmatizing sex workers than sex work itself, the latter of which i feel implies making it cool & fun just based entirely on how it sounds but that could just be how im interpreting the wording who knows. regardless there’s definitely a large amount of “sex work positive” people on this site who want to make it out like it’s cute & fun and the same as any other job when in actuality it’s everything you just said.
but yeah of course the whole point of being critical of all that is for the well being of the women affected by the industry and they obviously shouldn’t be criminalized or penalized for it they need to be protected & given as much assistance as possible in getting out of it, the consumers/johns are the ones who should be penalized/criminalized if anything. when i say i’m anti-sex work i mean i’m pro-sex worker the two things are mutually inclusive afaic
