Anime Expo Day 1!

Today I met Kubo and Yamamoto at Anime Expo! (I cosplayed as a Pork Cutlet Bowl!)

After the raffle this morning and my ticket wasn’t called, I decided to stop by the signing so hopefully I could at least see them! Eventually they let anyone with a raffle ticket (given out by Crunchyroll earlier) in line! I was told there was no way I would get to meet them because the line was so long but they were amazing and got through us all in about 3 hours! (The signing was originally scheduled for just 1 hour).) All I wanted was for Kubo to see my cosplay and she said she loved it!!! The staff asked me a few questions about it and liked how original it was. Yamamoto even took a picture of me!!! You guys, we are so lucky we have such amazing people who created this show! They were so wonderful!!!

I wanted to hand these out to people at the Rick and Morty Gathering but… there isn’t one at Anime Expo lol. SO INSTEAD, I’ll just hand these out to anybody who is cosplaying a Rick and Morty character. I’m a bit shy so pray that I get rid of all of these babies lol. I’d say that you can totally approach me but there’s so many people at Anime Expo lol.

There are 20 of the C-137 “It’s Anime Expo 2017, bitches!!” and 10 of the Boku No Hero Academia-Rick and Morticia postcards. When they’re gone, they’re gone!

I’ll be at Anime Expo 2017! Just as an attendee tho. <3

Livestreams have become such a fun and amazing part of our cosplay lives, we’re so lucky to get to talk to you guys and interact with you!! Thank you to everyone who came to our NaruHina one, it had me cracking up so much! If you missed it and want to check it out, it’s here!

Hope you’re having a great day! <3

Now that I’m on an ableism-education spree, I might want to add this to the list.

To all able-bodied cosplayers:

Let me make clear, first and foremost, that cosplaying as disabled characters as an able-bodied person is okay. Just like cosplaying white characters when you’re POC or vice versa, is completely fine.

What is not okay, though, is using devices to aid these disabilities for your costume. If your desired character is in a wheelchair, please don’t use a wheelchair if you’re able-bodied. Because you’ll take up unnecessary space and get special treatment that you do not need from other people. I don’t care if the wheelchair is essential to the character. If you are able-bodied, don’t use one. Just walk.

If your desired character uses a cane, make sure you only use it for pictures and walk normally in public any other time.

Let me try to see if this metaphor works: If you’re white, it’s not okay to change your skintone to match a POC character (blackface ain’t cool yo), so please do not pretend to be disabled just to accurately cosplay a character, either.

Our disabilities are not a costume, they are cold, harsh realities. And our devices to help aid these disabilities are not props for your entertainment.

Masculine Poses for Inquiring Trans Guys

Having spent my whole life posing to be “pretty” (from family portraits to Porn shoots), I found myself wanting to look more masculine in my personal photos. But how? I looked through Tumblr and all I really found were a bunch of man-butts – which wasn’t terrible, but also wasn’t what I was looking for. So I did my own research and made this post for anyone else who was wondering!

Just an important note: this is not meant in any way to uphold gender roles. I just want to help people out who want to express themselves more masculinely in visual media or who are self-conscious of photos because they don’t want to look like a girl (i.e. me, and probably most pre T boys). Regardless of your sex, gender, race, orientation, origin, or class, you should be allowed to be yourself! I just wanted to point out some rules of conventional photography and posing that allow a person to present in a more “masculine” way :)

So, some things to remember when taking photos that will accentuate your masculinity:

  • Your eyes should follow the line of your nose.
  • A lot of photography has men squinting. Not sure why, but maybe they’re on to something?
  • Closed hands (a.k.a. fists or loose fists) are considered more masculine than open hands in photography. If your hands are open, keep your palms pointed down and try to shoot the tops of your hands. The sides of the hands are considered dainty and womanly.
  • When posing, try not to raise the shoulder you have pointed at the camera or tilt your head toward a raised shoulder. If you do a head tilt, tilt your shoulders in the same direction as your head. It sounds complicated, but there’s a picture of it below!
  • IT IS OKAY TO SMILE! If you feel like smiling makes you look too feminine or makes you look silly, try a smirk or a lustful look. Or just look serious I guess. IDK, I’m new to this too so :P In porn there’s this look they have us do called “fashion face.” You literally make no expression, you just stare at the camera like you have resting bitch face. If you’re not one for smiles, try it, you might like it! (I personally make an effort not to look angry or depressed in my photos, and I have always sucked at faces so that’s why I rambled here. Don’t hate me lol).
  • Try to accentuate your jawline – find a facial pose that makes the jawline look strong and present. Always keep your chin tilted up and toward the camera!

Here are some photos of different poses considered masculine in conventional art and photography (there is one that has more anime-style poses for those of you who like to cosplay or just like to be really cool!):

In the end, it’s important to remember that it will take time to grow into your body, and it will take time to learn how to command it, too. If you’re like me and have to wait a few more years before you can start T, but you still want the world to see you as you are, I’m sure this will help. I’ll be trying out some of these poses and uploading them here, and I’d love to see yours. I know my blog is small, and I’m no expert, but I really hope this reaches anyone who needs it.

too-3-d  asked:

Is His YouTube Channel real????????))

[sadly, no, lmao- i wouldn’t have any way to make it seem in character. like idk how i’d make it appear that it was michael in charge of the MichaelMellon channel and not me, the mun. the only ways i could possibly even attempt that is through animation and/or cosplay??

fluid animation takes a long time so if I did it that way, the videos would rarely be over a minute long. plus i’d prob need audio from somewhere.

cosplay would just be me acting as michael and doing gameplays with a facecam. which i’m okay with bc mod starry and I have cosplayed jeremy and michael before?? but my cosplay of him is just yikes,,, lmaO]

My Thoughts...

Having come to a new understanding on the topic, after discussing the issue with friends that are living with oppression, I’d like to address some of the statements and questions I’ve seen over the last few days concerning cosplaying as POC.

(This is coming from the perspective of a White individual, hearing the position and opinions of a POC individual.)

The media is huge factor in developing our sense of self.

Very often as children, we are drawn to the characters that look like us because we recognize similarities. These characters become our “favorite” characters… often not for any other reason than the fact that they have similar features.

As a child, my choices were endless in characters I could see myself reflected in. I could see traits/qualities I admired or even idolized in characters that looked just like me. This allowed me to reinforce my sense of security and self worth, because I could see myself over and over again, in almost every movie or show I chose to watch.

Over and over and over again…

As a white individual, think about the amount of characters that resembled you… main characters, characters that were the focus of the story.

Not everyone has that kind of representation.

Here is one example. The first African American Disney princess did not appear on screen until 2009. By that time, it had already been 72 years since the creation of the first Disney princess. In those 72 years, the amount of white representation far surpassed POC representation on screen… and it continues to.

In the United States (and many other places in the westernized world) the media lacks balance. This can cause a lot of harm to a child’s development of self.

If the vast majority of the “hero” based characters that you see in the media do not reflect you… but instead reflect those around you that do not share similar physical qualities, how hard does it become to develop a sense of self worth, and find equal footing?

In order to create progress, coming to a place of understanding, unity and level footing is necessary. This is why it is important to work together and create an environment that is safe for POC.

This mentality carries over into cosplay…

Here is how the situation was explained to me.

Having grown up with a wide variety of characters that represent me, the comfort I feel stepping across any boundary, and dressing as any character, is not very limited. This is because I am used to seeing myself represented.

However, for someone who is not used to seeing representation, coming into a community and stepping out of the box can be incredibly intimidating. The limited amount of POC characters become something akin to a “safe zone”, and although the individual may want to step out of that safe zone, the internalized fear and discomfort can sometimes be too overwhelming.

When a white individual, who has a lot of characters at their disposal to cosplay that reflect them, steps into that safe-zone, it can be both intimidating and hurtful to someone who is not yet comfortable doing the same.

Now we have to understand, at the heart of it… anyone, of any ethnicity, cosplaying as anyone they’d like… is not a harmful thing… wanting to cosplay a character you love, regardless of ethnicity, is not a harmful thing…

If everyone is on equal footing.

If everyone is on equal footing, there is nothing wrong with this. This is the kind of equality that we are striving for.

However, where there IS a problem, is the fact that not everyone is on equal footing.

This particular issue is not about what is fair or equal… fairness and equality in this scenario would mean that everyone is comfortable playing everyone, and that there are no feelings of guilt or uncertainty when choosing to do so… but this is not the case.

POC do not have equal representation… and because of this lack of representation, it makes it extremely difficult to feel comfortable branching out and cosplaying whoever they’d like.

In order to reach a point where everyone is comfortable playing everything they would like to play… we, as individuals that are used to playing as many roles as we’d like (because we have been given a wide range of characters that emulate us to choose from), should allow those who have grown up with limitations placed on them by society to test the water, and become comfortable in their environment.

Here’s an example I was given… You are standing on top of a cliff, and your friend is at the bottom. In order to get on the same footing, either you need to make your way all the way to the bottom of the cliff, or your friend needs to climb all the way to the top… that is a long way to climb…

However, if you can both meet at the middle, and then help each other the rest of the way, the journey becomes a lot easier/safer.

Regardless of what may be “equal” or “fair”, there are steps that must be taken in order to reach that equality… it is a process that cannot be solved overnight, or by telling someone to “Just do it”.

It’s not asking a lot for us to take a small step back, and play characters that won’t infringe on the comfort of those who are trying to become comfortable in this environment. (This does not mean that if you have done so, you did something “bad”… it simply means that you can now become aware of how to help those around you, and become accommodating of their needs and help in their progress by adjusting your choices).

This is not about conflict… this is not about blame or guilt… this is not about creating division or emphasizing differences…

It’s about people having an open dialogue… and expanding our minds, on every front, to other opinions and life experiences.

It’s about recognizing that someone else might not be in the same position because of the way our culture has conditioned us.

It’s about realizing that we can change, within our own circle of influence, the way our world functions.

It’s about compromising and reaching a point where everyone can feel accepted and equal.

It’s about showing compassion and empathy for each other as human beings.

[translations] 2017.08.18 NCT DREAM We Young fan sign at Gangnam

1. Seating arrangement: Mark Renjun Jeno Jisung Chenle Haechan

2. Haechan’s favorite line in We Young album is “우리 다시 만나자 (let’s meet again)” [ncthugi]

3. OP asked Jeno how tall does he wish to be. Jeno said,”179!” OP asked why not over 180cm? Jeno said because he’s afraid he won’t be as cool when he dances (if he’s too tall) and it’s tiring. [ncthugi]

4. OP asked Haechan if he was an animal, which animal would he be? OP expected a bear but he drew a lion instead. [6083204681]

5. Renjun said when he initially had braces, it was painful but now he’s used to it. OP asked if there’s anyone in NCT he wants to form a unit with, minus the members from NCT DREAM.
Renjun: I want to do with everyone, but I think it would be interesting to be with Winwin hyung. [lOvE_yA__14]

6. The day before they had 10 shares of seafood kal-guksu. It’s been a long time since Jisung got to wash the dishes (he lost in Rock Scissors Paper) Haechan cheated and got the rest of the members to show the same sign [byyourside_mk]

7. OP asked Chenle if there’s any Korean words that he likes, he said YES! And wrote “ㅋㅋ (kk)” [plzfixdream]

Revised edition

Quick report on Kubo and Yamamoto’s attendance to Concomics Guadalajara. I was in line for 9 hours plus two more for their short Q&A and am objectively dying, sorry for typos

ETA: When I wrote this it didn’t occur to me that it would get hundreds of reblogs before I ever got to fix it, now my half-deceased incompetent typing will live on forever *sobs*

  • I arrived at 6:30 am and there were already people in line jeeesus (lots were coming to see a youtuber though)
  • Gonna spare you the deets on the awful people in my surroundings thank @yuurinikiforov cos I screamed at her for hours

ETA: I just realized this sounds like it was Ally making me scream but in fact i tumblr-screamed at her to prevent from unleashing my frustrations on the gross fujos that surrounded me. Thank Ally because she got to read all that nervous-wreck garbage and y’all get to be spared

  • I had a two-day ticket so I was allowed in half an hour earlier and if not for that, I probably would’ve missed on the autograph line. They had space for 50 people (plus 200ish that had bought the express pass which was super expensive). I was #45. It took less than three minutes since getting inside for all 50 spots to be taken

(this was the line after three minutes. I was too lazy to take pics of it later, but it got to be around 5 times this at some point.)

ETA: According to Con staff, since the lines were very well organized, they actually got to sign quite a bit more people than the originally allotted 50. The Queens are so kind.

  • No photos, video or sound recording of The Queens allowed, except for this one taken by Con staff. They were giving away those postcards for the filthy casuals people who didn’t bring any official merch for the sign

i’m mostly kidding about the filthy casual thing bc I hate fandom elitism but there were a lot of people bringing FANART PRINTS and I wanted to gut them

  • Kubo would quick sketch a character of your choice. I chose Victor bc I love how she draws his huge heart mouth
  • I was able to tell Sayokan how grateful I am from the bottom of my heart and that I’m looking forward to the movie and she said thank you and that they’re workinng hard. I died. ETA: I wanted to say so much more but I was so nervous my Japanese came out really garbled and we didn’t have much time. And I didn’t get to say anything to Kubo because I didn’t want to distract her from drawing ;—;
  • Sayokan has a beautiful smile and I love her

ETA: She also had an aura like Meryl Streep in Devil Wears Prada, twenty years younger: A STRONG woman who takes no prisoners and is fabulous af. I love her with all my soul.

After the autographs, The Queens had a short stage appearance

  • There was a cosplay contest and the winners would get to sit in the front row for The Queens’ presentation. I didn’t take any pics but the standout for me apart from a flood of gorgeous girls doing Eros Yuuri, was a pair of girls doing Lilia and Yakov. The announcer clearly didn’t watch the show and botched Lilia’s last name, but the cosplayer had the attitude 100% on point.
  • Something I hate is people who say Yurio stressing the u, it sounds so wrong and a lot of people today were doing it and driving me mad
  • The stage was packed af
  • Kubo drew quick sketch of Victor while she and Sayo answered a couple of questions. They will post the video later today

ETA: Here’s the video

  • Audience Questions logistics wasn’t very well prepared and even Kubo asked how it was gonna work. I was embarrassed for the lack of planning. In the end those that were lucky to be close to the stage got to ask the questions. Lia was praying for no stupid questions pls.

Q&A (translation partially mine partially from the interpreter)

1. What were your expectations about Mexico and have those expectations changed now

Kubo: I haven’t gone sightseeing yet but it’s my first time in Mexico and I didn’t expect so many people. [The people/audience] feels four or five times warmer than japan (make of that what you may, Japanese people say that about us a lot) Sayokan didn’t answer

2. Dumb question that has already been answerred in interviews about whether Yurio was planned to win from the start. As we know, yes, pretty sure both of them have said it before.

Sayokan added that his character development wasn’t completely planned though, and he evolved a lot during writing.

3. Which word do you think of when you thibk of Yuuri and Victor

Sayokan: Love (愛)

Kubo: She didn’t talk to the mic and people were still screaming about 愛  so Ididn’t hear what she said but the interpreter said she said Friendship. My queens get your story sraight pls

HUGELY IMPORTANT ETA: Other people that were there have confirmed that Kubo gave a long answer that included 断ち切れない絆 “an unbreakable bond” and didn’t say anything about friendship. There was a telephone game going on because there was a JP-ENG interpreter and then an ENG-SPA interpreter and I don’t know how or why the latter got “friendship” but please take this into account, I don’t want people to hate on Kubo because I wasn’t close enough to hear her answer and the Spanish interpreter botched it.

Not important ETA: A girl close to me was yelling “Victuri” like she hoped they’d answer that and I was facepalming hard

Kubo also asked (in Japanese) if anyone understood Japanese, it wasn’t translated and a good dozen of hands shot up. She was surprised. Some folks screamed abd she said 落ち着け. One or two continued screaming so obviously they didn’t understand Japanese lol

4. Stupid question about whether they plan to develop Otabek and Yurio’s relationship.

Sayokan said they hadn’t fully decided on how everything’s gonna end in the movie so can’t say yet but look forward to the bonus on V6 (the interpreter said V3 and I wanted to gut him). Hoes I like Otayuri but stop trying to shove it on The queens’ faces pls

5. Do you have plans for a special chapter about the Lady skaters?

Sayokan said it’s definitely something they’d love to do but right now their focus is on the boys abnd finishing their story. Best answer for me tbh besides Sayokan’s 愛 cos I wanna see Mila skate soooo bad.

ETA: Forgot to mention this but a lot of people were chanting “Boda! Boda!” (wedding). Kubo asked what it was that people were chanting and the interpreter told them. Someoene else is reporting that Sayokan chuckled. There were two tall dudes in front of me so my vision was very obstructed and can’t confirm, but neither said anything out loud in response to it

  • Sayokan threw some gifts at the audience but My Queen is no pitcher and I was too far back so didn’t get anything *sobs*. Some were prints or maybe postcards but no idea of what exactly.

And that’s it! Theyll be signing more autographs and have another stage appearancw tomorrow but I can’t stay so someone else will have to report it whilst I die.

TL;DR I love them and my calebdar looks even more beautiful and I never thought that was possible and I’ll cry about this day for the rest of my life.

PS I’ll fix those typos when I’m not utterly destroyed
PPs: I have no shame so I wanna plug my cute Victuri Tangled AU it’s really cute and it doesnt have typos promise, please read it  http://archiveofourown.org/works/10529547/chapters/23245557

WONDERCON COSPLAY SHOUT OUT!

i’m not there. just wanted to give my love to the cosplayers working characters i’m writing at the moment who showed up in my feed.  all of these made me smile and saved me from a truly challenging weekend creatively.

not sure about the uncle ben joke but it did get a reaction out of me.

and i will be writing ‘Slash bringing spidey back to life with the power of rock’ sometime in my career. might be time for spidey to do another rock album. :)

So many of us are always surprised when cosplayers don’t tell the creators or show the creators what they’ve done. We LOVE seeing these expressions so much! It is so flattering and we will appreciate how much work you did more than anyone else in the world.

Whoever it is that you’re cosplaying, if you have the opportunity to show the creator you should tell them

love you all!!

l + j = yes, please.

remi and jamie were having a simple conversation until a certain someone had robbed potter from her train of thought.

remi : look at who? *turns around before rolling her eyes* oh no …

remi : you are attracted to the weirdest things, jamie. he’s just a normal person and you’re acting like he’s some sort of king … you’re not even listening to me are you?

liam : *looks in her direction*

( ooc : everyone’s been wanting me to do something marauders related so here’s my genderbent james potter! i couldn’t help but use @son-0f-a-snitch for my liam evans because wowie wow, how could i not? )

You can now get Yuri’s ‘Altin’ T shirt on my Redbubble for anyone who wanted it for cosplay etc (you can get it with the text on either the front or the back).

Wow, our February week was really great despite the late notice, thank you so much to everyone who participated, followed, and liked and reblogged our Valentine’s Day content. This blog has surpassed 500 followers and that number is growing. So as a treat, I will be hosting Tomco Week 3 in March! Rather than following a set theme, this one will incorporate a variety of prompts so we get varied content from day to day. After that whopper of a finale, I think we need some lighthearted content.

Day 1 - March 12 - Dancing

Let’s be honest, we all enjoy a good dancing scene between our favorite characters. So give our boys the time of their lives as they dance it out, whether it be at a club, or a party, or maybe even prom or a ball or something. Any kind of dance, any kind of song, up to you!

Day 2 - March 13 - Favorite AU

Got a favorite AU? Or do you want to make up your own? Either way, get creative and show us an alternate universe’s version of Marco and Tom getting up to whatever shenanigan you please.

Day 3 - March 14 - Cultural Appreciation

Marco and Tom have their similarities, but I’m sure they also have some major differences when it comes to how their people tend to do things. Let’s explore that, whether it be through the holidays they celebrate, the foods they eat, or even just how they tend to greet a loved one.

Day 4 - March 15 - Cosplay

Oh yeah. Marco and Tom are a couple of dorks. Look me in the eye and tell me they wouldn’t cosplay. Who would they be? Haha, that’s for you to decide.

Day 5 - March 16 - Magic Practice

Star is a magic user. Tom seems to have magic as well. Marco is definitely getting involved in magical shenanigans whether he wants to or not. Why not have some fun and try to learn some things himself?

Day 6 - March 17 - St. Patrick’s Day

It’s St. Patrick’s Day, of course I gotta do a prompt for this one. How do they celebrate it? Partying? Do they get drunk? Or do they just watch other people goof off while staying a safe distance away and gorging themselves on hot wings? Note: If there is any drinking involved, please use the ‘alcohol’ tag for blacklisting purposes.

Day 7- March 18 - Horseback Riding

A favorite hobby of mine (even though I haven’t done it in forever). Tom uses a horsedrawn carriage AND he’s a royal, you can’t tell me the guy doesn’t like horseback riding. Have him take Marco on a trail! Is Tom using a skeleton horse or a fiery demon one? Is he making Marco ride a similar one? How does that go? The possibilities are endless.

I’m posting this a couple weeks in advance and will reblog it in a week or so as a reminder. As usual, the guidelines:

1. Please use the Tomco tag on everything you post for a week. You may of course use main show tags, such as svtfoe and Star Vs, since they are from the show, but just make sure Tomco is also tagged for blacklisting purposes.

2. You may also want to use ‘Tomco Week’ as a tag as well, just to make it easier for me to find your work. I’ll be reblogging everything on the relevant days.

3. You may post entries early, they just won’t be reblogged here until the relevant day comes up. Feel free to shoot me a message but odds are I’ll like it so I can find it later.

4. If you miss the day, don’t worry. I will reblog them as soon as you get it posted. Again, shoot me a message if I miss it. I’ll be tagging things by day for searching purposes.

5. I’m gonna say that NSFW is allowed, but nothing too explicit, please. I’m not going to check ages but if you want to post more mature content, just make sure it’s got the proper tags. I do want this blog to be enjoyed by all shippers, and some may not want to see explicit stuff. Let’s keep it tasteful.

I’ll accept fanart, fanfiction, cosplay, videos, heck, songs, whatever you wanna share.

Have at it, guys! :D Depending on how this goes, I may do another in April. Can’t miss Easter now, can we? But we’ll see~
