who to watch

Learning about how children tend to do better when their praise is based on their effort instead of abilities. And I feel that’s best shown through Riddler.

Something Riddler always complains about is how no one notices how smart he is but the thing is people call him smart all the time. Batman acknowledges his mind is brilliant, a force to be reckon with, and his Arkham files state that he’s of high level genius IQs. Both examples of praise in his eyes. But no one ever talks about how much effort he puts into being smart.

No one ever talks about the many late nights fueled by coffee and energy drinks in libraries. Or the endless hours trying cramp more facts about Zeno’s paradox while also studying the Egyptian hieroglyphics

And i think that’s why he puts so much stock in his ‘intelligence’ because his efforts never matter as a child and no one seems to notice them as an adult either. All he has left is this hollow idea of what he should be.

PLEASE HAVE AN ICE CREAM AND CALM DOWN

Yeah though, I kind of thought this is where we were heading. The witches they’ve been fighting. They’re “corrupted” magical girls, aren’t they? Because of course they are. Of course they’re the pain of lost dreams, of girls who maybe want to try and break the cycle. Of course they become the very thing they’re fighting.

Of course they do.

look, I’m not ~into~ supergirl fandom, but this trend I’ve noticed (through looking for gifs and fanfic) of people supporting james as kara’s love interest over mon-el in a “if I had to pick a dude” sense is really making me uncomfortable. fandom favoring literally every other ship over james is what got us the kara/james breakup and mon-el in the first place, so backing james up now just strikes me as disingenuous and tbh pretty gross.

I think the worst thing that fandom culture and the increasing acknowledgement of fandom culture from creators has wrought is this

incredible amount of entitlement that people in said fandoms get like

just because creators know something is a thing in a fandom doesn’t mean they have to do it or else they hate their fans. It’s a consistent thing I’m seeing more and more in fandoms and it’s getting worse. Like all the steven universe garbage that’s happened over that show’s run and now overwatch like

people are wishing other people dead because a robot ninja and an angel woman are dating. and there are people who are legit horrified at the sheer concept of characters being straight and I’m just sat here wondering how they can possibly tolerate real life.

the fact that people get so entrenched in what they perceive as author approval when their ships and headcanons aren’t immediately shut down, despite said author interacting with the fanbase, that their mental health deteriorates when something contradictory is even hinted at is just sickening like

I just went on twitter and saw people legitimately wanting to kill a man on the overwatch team because of gency and like

its. not. yours.

you do not own overwatch. you do not own steven universe. you do not own anything you’re fandoming so hard over. rebecca sugar could tomorrow have pearl confess her love to renaldo and the overwatch team could make torbjornXpharah and both of them would be canon because it’s THEIR CREATION AND THEY DECIDE WHAT HAPPENS.

THEY get to decide what to do with it. Not you. It is NOT YOURS.

I absolutely think fandom/tumblr culture has led to more death threats and harassment than any other thing on the internet and I think if creators want to avoid it, the best way is to just stop acknowledging the fandoms. Because they’ll twist whatever they can get their filthy hands on so they can shit on other people and never feel remorse or grow as people because they’re doing it to be “progressive”

i really respect the star wars franchise for not compromising or stopping to take time to explain what the hell everything is or whats happening like outside of the intro scroll its just in the world 100% like bam! heres a planet with these things! u dont know what they are? well fuck it cuz theyre here! also! this guy! we’ll say his name one time and then thats it! he’ll just be here for the rest of the movie! here u go! some terms were throwing in that may be bullshit but this is star wars so screw it! bam! space! bam ! flying ships and shit! u dont get it? well sucks for u cuz were still moving along assholes! pew pew laser fighting montage with characters whose names we may not have brought up but ull grow to care for them anywayyyyy!

Living in Mexico, I experience a great deal of huge contrasts and they make me wonder a lot of things, question those things, and make me want to be a part of the debate. [x]
