white sigil

A clearer photo of my pocket altar.
I added some more to it and I am fairly confident that it’s finished.
My pocket altar includes:
- jar of protection salt
- jar of dried lavender
- jar of Flying Devil oil
- tealight candle
- white sage incense cone
- matches wrapped in enough hemp twine for knot magic
- match striker
- clear quartz point
- small piece of black tourmaline
- sprig of wormwood
- wooden yes/no coin
- banishment talisman/sigil to banish negative spirits ward off black magic
I am hoping I can get or make a little altar cloth to put in there too, which will double as a bit of padding for the contents so no damage comes to the little glass jars.

🎀 “Tag, You’re It” Hex 🎀

For when you need to throw harm inflicted on you back to the offender and restore balance.

Inspired by Melanie Martinez’s song “Tag, You’re It”.

Items:

  • A Mirror
  • One White Candle
  • One Black Candle
  • A Sigil, (such as this one)
  • Sea Salt
  • Dried Thyme
  • A Writing Utensil (preferably a marker)

Directions:

  • Draw your chosen sigil onto the center of your mirror. Add the name of the offender at the bottom of the sigil.
  • Cover the sigil in a sprinkling of dried thyme and sea salt.
  • Stand your candles on the mirror at either side of the sigil (it helps to lean taper candles toward the sigil).
  • Light your black candle, then your white candle.
  • Let the melting wax from your candles completely cover the sigil. Do not distinguish them before the sigil is covered.
  • Smother the flames to extinguish them or let the candles burn completely.
  • If you can manage it, separate the dried melted wax from the mirror. Keep it until balance is restored.

White Light

I have mentioned using white light as a form of cleansing. This is the most common method I use because it is the most easiest one to accomplish for me at least. This white light is also good for empaths or those who struggle with negative energies.

Visualization steps:

  1. Sit down and make yourself comfortable. You don’t want to be distracted by any means. You need to pour all your focus in this. Relax and take a few deep breaths.
  2. Visualize a white light surrounding you. Imagine that you are engulfed with this white light. That it’s bright and protecting. It’s keeping you safe and sound.
  3. Set an intention. Tell this white light to expel all the negative energies and only to allow positive energies. You may also ask trusted spirits and guides to help set this intention of positive energy.

Side Notes:

  • Placing it on people, places, and items. You can also create a white light around people, places, and items. For added protection, I always place the white light around my house. It provides more protection!
  • When moving through the astral plane. I normally use a door method to move from plane to plane. As I open this door, I get flooded by white light as a method to cleanse and recharge the shield of white light.

Deities, trusted spirits, etc.

I know that a bunch of you have trusted spirits and/or are following deities. These trusted spirits only want to help you  and you should never feel embarrassed for asking for help!

  • Ask some of them to stay behind with your physical body. Sometimes the shields you place up may fail, so it’s always good to have some of these spirits around to help defend you against negative energies from harming your physical body.
  • Ask some of them to go with you. Protecting your astral body is just as important as protecting your physical body. You don’t want damage to your astral body, it is disorienting.

Sigils and Symbols.

Sigils are protective symbols and are great for shielding! Sigils are great to bring in positive energy and get rid or keep out negative energy.

Steps to applying sigils:

  1. Choose or make a sigil. You don’t have to create your own sigil for it to work. You can find one online. Pentagrams also work and are considered to be a symbol of protection!
  2. Draw these symbols/sigils over doors, windows, and mirrors. You can draw these symbols with some water and salt or just by using your finger. You can also draw the symbol and place it up physically on the windows/doors/mirrors. You can even print it and place it up. It’s all about the intention.
  3. As you draw or put up the symbols, set the intention. Just like the white light method. Say that these symbols are used to repel negative energy and to bring in positive energy. To keep out harmful spirits and beings.

Chants.

Chants are very powerful in placing the intention of positive energy in a room.

  1. You can use chants. Chants are very powerful ways to protect you. You can create your own chant/spell or find one online.
  2. You can use your chants in every room. You can go into all the rooms and chant it. The more rooms you chant, the better the warding. You can even chant to specific items.

Spells

Spells are a powerful way of keeping out negative energies. I actually found a masterpost based on shielding that you guys can use.

These are some of the ways I ward my home and I hope they prove useful for you.

A Calming Emotional-Protection Bottle

Purpose: A quick spell to bring calm, emotional harmony and energy protection for a pack member who is having a lot going on in their lives this week.

Contents:

- Calm Sigil (on the green paper), charged with intent

- Protection Sigil (on the green paper), charged with intent

- Nag Champa incense filled the bottle before i got started: a stress buster, harmonizer

- Basil

- White Sage

- Salt

- Sealed with green and white wax.

I sent the recipient a photo of this spell bottle who said the sun literally burst thru the clouds and their favorite song came on as soon as they saw the photo. Energy and Intent do make differences.

Witchy Tidbits: Candles

If you’re struggling to find candles that correspond with your intent or spellwork, substitute a white candle in its place. For centuries, white or off-white candles were all that were available to us, and colored candles are a fairly recent feature that has been incorporated into witchcraft.

So take white candles (many dollar stores sell packages of white candles, white 7-day candles, and emergency candlesticks) and dress them with your oil of choice, or carve them with sigils and symbols of your intent before using them as you would a different colored candle in your spellwork!

Blessed Be! )O(

1 black candle, a piece of black paper, and a crayon

On a small square of white paper, draw a sigil representing negative magic. On the black paper, draw a sigil representing positive magic. Light the candles.

On this night I will remove my mark on this world to begin anew. I sever the chaos I have sent out, and I sever my blessings. May my power return to me and make use for new priorities.

Burn the negative sigil on the white candle. [see note]

Cease all of my curses, hexes, and jinx, offensive and active, all that is chaotic, dark, masculine.

Burn the positive sigil on the black candle.

Release all of my blessings, the defensive and passive, all that is orderly, bright, feminine.

Pinch out the flames.

With this, I return to balance.

[Note: save these ashes to neutralize specific spells, as I do here.]

—first 24 hours—

“This love was so pure it would smolder within their hearts for all eternity”

That one, single line from the book made your heart hurt. Is that the word? hurt? or…Is it something else entirely.
It pained.
That, you are sure about.
There is just something about it, that that made you go over it once again…not analyzing, just letting it sink in, let your mind absorb it, let your body absorb it, let your soul absorb it.
The book remains open on that one page; your eyes hovering above each letter and word for a long time.
What did it mean? How can a love smolder you? is that even possible? How can it be eternal?.
The more these silent questions spread through your thoughts, the more you feel confused, the more you feel empty; but at the same time, you somehow understand exactly what they mean.
You need someone to talk about this.
You read over the phrase once more:

“This love was so pure it would smolder within their hearts for all eternity”

Without realizing, pools of tears flood your eyesight, trying to blink them away the big drops drip down your cheeks. A face on the back of your mind appears.
His dark and messy hair.
His big gentle eyes.
His goofy smile.

“Jungkook” a giggle joins the streams of water rolling down your eyes, while saying his name out-loud, making you realize you aren’t sad; In fact, you are desperate to see him again, to hug him and kiss him -just like you did every time you are together.
Putting the book down, you grab the cell phone on the nightstand, ignoring the piece of white paper, standing out because of the sapphire blue seal on the front, and tap over his name on the contact list.
-the dial tone causing you anxiety and a pang on your chest.
It is the first time you felt like this, so frantic and in a haste about phoning him.

Unwillingly, your eyes travel to the night stand once again, landing over the closed envelope with the blue sigil.
You knew this day might arrive.
Since the very beginning.

Happy Halloween! I wanted to wait another day, but the kids over here in Baltimore are trick or treating a day early and I couldn’t hold in my excitement.

I submitted this piece to the Seance show over at MICA that opens tonight! If you’d like to see it in person, it’s on the 3rd Floor of the Fox Building. I added in some close-ups so you can see what might be only visible in the print!

EDIT: Fixed the first image! It was fuzzy!
