Do you think we might learn more about Jr's and that humanoid cheeto man in the third and final FNaF book? Heck, maybe we'll learn more about whatever the heck remnant is and how it works in there. I mean, otherwise we just have a girl who inexplicably looks just like Charlie, which, while stuff like that does happen in real life, would be kinda weird to use in storytelling.
As much as I’d love to understand more about… generally everything going on, especially in Midnight Motorist where we don’t get actual context for a damn thing, I don’t think they’ll be coming from the books. Remnant, however…
Remnant comes from the SCUPer and the SCUPer is used on the Funtime animatronics. While the animatronics in The Twisted Ones are described as segmented, most of their ‘design’ is more in line with the technology that made what gameverse describes as the Nightmare animatronics, hallucinations. Although in the game Afton Robotics makes both of these, FNAF 6 confirms a vague storyline of how Remnant works:
Children are killed and made to attach to animatronics. The bonding act of attaching a soul to a robot may or may not also use Remnant. In some timeline-funky way, the children are somehow moved to the ‘Funtime’ line of animatronics: panelled robots built to open up. They open up for two reasons. Reason one is so they can capture children, either for kidnapping purposes, or to kill them and theoretically produce Remnant. Reason two would then be so they can be opened up and have the Remnant scraped out, which we see happen to Ballora.
Although it isn’t far fetched to somehow see Remnant come forward in the third book, a key here is that the Funtime animatronics, in fnaf 6, are confirmed to be haunted, as Molten Freddy is theorized by most to be ‘5 children in a single casket’, as Candy Cadet puts it. This theory would identify Freddy, Foxy, Ballora, and possibly Yenndo and PreEnnard as being haunted, which may or may not be required to generate more Remnant.
In The Twisted Ones, although there is a 10 year gap, there doesn’t seem to be much indication of Book Afton’s weird new animatronics being haunted. Hell, there is an entire fight scene of his freaky magic robots fighting the haunted robots, which although weird in general, is also weird because it implies that they have AIs and an allegiance, and simply do not side with or sympathize with the actually-haunted animatronics.
I do feel like that some way, some how, Scott will get us more information about the Midnight Motorist scene, or confirm Game Henry’s daughter’s name, but it probably won’t be in the books. And if we read about Remnant any time soon, it’ll certainly be an AU remnant, and might not work entirely the same way, but it’ll be close enough to bring back here to the game side and roll out new perspectives on our theories.
