You looked in the mirror, making sure your face mask was properly in place. If you were going to look like a serial killer for the next 20 minutes, you at least wanted to look the part. Your bed was calling your name as you walked over to the soft mattress, choosing to ignore the missed calls and text messages from your best friend. This was the first Saturday night you had to yourself in months. No work. No brother. No best friend. You were free to do whatever you wanted.
Or at least that’s what you had originally intended. But as the door to your bedroom crashed open you soon realized that the night had other plans for you.
“Why haven’t you answered my calls?” your best friend Irene squealed as she plopped down at the foot of your bed. “It’s Saturday night and I know you don’t have to work tomorrow!”
You gave her a look. Well, you tried to give her a look to the best of your ability as the motions of your face was restricted by the sheet mask on top of it. “There’s a reason why I didn’t answer your calls. And just because my idiot brother gave you a key to our apartment doesn’t mean you can just waltz in here any time you want.”
Irene rolled her eyes, blowing a large bubble from the gum she was constantly chewing. She was clearly not amused at your disinterest on leaving your apartment tonight. You reached forward, popping it with your pointer finger. “You’re no fun, Y/N” she whined, collecting the gum back into her mouth.
“I can’t have fun when I’m always too busy taking care of you.” you quipped, reminding her of the last time the two of you went out. “I had to beg that cop not to give you a ticket for being drunk in public. Why aren’t you bothering my brother? I’m sure he would love to see you.”
(Isaac’s is my favorite, the rest are moderately average lol sorry for this)
P.S. I know you guys like these and I want to do more but you have to understand they take REALLY long to write so some patience would be appreciated. please and thank you. xoxoxo
I was walking home from Deaton’s animal clinic after my shift when I felt a presence behind me.
“Hello?” I called looking around.
I didn’t hear anything so I continued on my way. Normally I was okay walking home by myself but tonight felt different. I felt a chill run down my spine. I gripped the strap of my bag and picked up my pace. I don’t know why but I couldn’t get over this fear that I was being followed.
“whoever you are leave me alone!” I screamed before sprinting down the alley that would eventually lead to my house.
I was looking back when I tripped over my feet falling to the ground. I hit the ground hard causing the contents of my backpack to spill all over the pavement. I could still feel the presence as I struggled to gather my books. Suddenly someone grabbed my arm causing me to scream.
“y/n hey it’s okay it’s just me!”
I looked up and there was my co-worker and friend Scott McCall. I was relieved to see him.
“Scott?” I questioned looking at him.
“are you okay?” Scott asked helping me up.
“I thought someone was following me.” I admitted looking at the ground.
“here let me help you.” Scott said bending down and helping me pick up my books.
We reached for the same book causing our hands to touch. I quickly pulled mine back and tried to fight the smile that appeared on my face.
“thanks.” I said grabbing the book from him.
“do you uh want me to walk you home?” Scott asked rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
I couldn’t fight the smile that appeared on my face.
“sure Scott that sounds great.” I said shyly.
The rest of the walk to my house was silent but I definitely felt safer with Scott by my side. We walked up to my porch still not saying anything.
“thanks Scott you really didn’t have to do this.” I said turning to face him with a small smile on my face.
“I know I didn’t but I wanted to.” He said returning the smile.
I reached over and gave Scott a hug. He returned it wrapping his arms around me. He pulled away quickly.
“y/n you’re bleeding.” He said looking at my knee.
I looked down to see my pants were torn and I had a large cut on my knee.
“wow I didn’t even feel this.” I said giggling a little.
“let’s get you cleaned up.” Scott said grabbing my hand and walking in my house.
He brought me to my kitchen and picked me up before sitting me down on top of the counter. He walked over grabbing some paper towels and running them under the water from the sink. He came rolling up my pant leg and pressing the towel to my bleeding knee. I flinched quickly grabbing his hand.
“sorry.” I said letting go.
“It’ll only hurt for a little.” He said walking over and getting a bandage,.
He came back over putting it on the cut. I couldn’t help but admire how sweet he was.
“all better." He said smiling and standing up.
"thanks.” I said for the third time tonight.
Scott and I just stood there looking at each other until his gaze dropped down to my lips. I felt my heart rate speed up as he slowly leaned in. I met him the rest of the way connecting my lips to his. I could feel him smiling throughout the kiss. He pulled away resting his forehead on mine.
“I’m all better now.” I said not being able to stop the smile on my face.
Stiles and I were both really awkward and clumsy people so when it came to our relationship things usually got really bad really fast. Today was no different. Stiles was supposed to come over to study for the chemistry test but I had a different idea. I was ready to take our relationship to the next level. I knew that Stiles was too shy to bring up the sex talk so I knew I had to be the one to do it. Earlier this week I went to the store and purchased some lingerie, I was currently sitting in my room in the outfit I bought.
“so babe I have a question about page 45 in the textbook.” Stiles said walking in looking down at his chem textbook.
“yes baby?” I said in the most seductive voice I could manage.
Stiles looked up immediately dropping his textbook. I could see his cheeks starting to turn pink.
“uh w-w-what are you doing?” Stiles stuttered looking at my body up and down.
“what do you mean baby?” I purred standing up and walking over to where he was standing.
“uh why are you uh wearing that?” Stiles said gesturing to my outfit.
“you don’t like it?” I asked suddenly feeling insecure.
“no no my gosh I love it, I am just confused.” Stiles said not taking his eyes off my body.
“I was hoping that we could you know take our relationship to the next level.” I said hoping Stiles would catch on.
“what do you mean?” He said swallowing hard.
seriously how dumb could this boy be?
“SEX STILES I’M TALKING ABOUT SEX!” I yelled throwing my arms in the air.
“oh.” Stiles said rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
“just forget about it.” I said gathering my robe and walking to the bathroom.
“no wait.” Stiles called.
He went to run after me but slipped on his textbook. He fell crashing right into me.
“oh my god y/n I’m so sorry.” Stiles said getting off me.
“my arm, I think you broke my arm.” I cried clutching my arm that was slowly turning a deep shade of purple.
“oh gosh.” Stiles panicked.
He ran over picking me up and taking me to his jeep. I put on clothes while he drove to Beacon Hills Memorial Hospital. I was seen by Dr. Dunbar my arm was indeed broken. Stiles stood in the waiting room while I was fitted for a cast. He came in later looking distraught. He sat down beside me taking my hand in his.
“wow I’m boyfriend of the year, my girlfriend wants to have sex and I break her arm.” Stiles said looking at me.
I didn’t mean to but I started busting up laughing at the situation causing Stiles to laugh too.
“We are some couple huh.” I said leaning my head on his shoulder.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way.” Stiles said kissing my forehead
“me either. I love you Stiles.” I said kissing him.
“I love you too baby.” Stiles said when he pulled away.
If just kissing him gave me this feeling I couldn’t wait to know what having sex with him would do to me.
I was just getting to my last patient of the night. I was completely exhausted from the day but I sucked it up going in to my last patients room. Cora Hale. I felt bad for her, she was just a young girl and she was dying. Doctors couldn’t figure it out either. I was the newest RN here and Cora was my first ever patient so I felt extra sympathy for her. Even worse, her brother Derek was taking it really hard.
“hey Derek.” I said offering him a small smile.
“oh hey.” He said looking up.
Derek was always here, he never left. I had to talk the security guards out of throwing him out on multiple occasions. I felt for him. I lost my little sister in a car accident a while ago so I knew what losing a sibling felt like.
“any changes?” I asked looking at her monitor.
“no, nothing.” He said grabbing her hand.
I took this time to get a good look at him. He looked like he hadn’t slept or eaten in days. I walked over placing my hand on his shoulder.
“Derek, how about you let me take you down to the cafeteria and buy you a coffee?” I offered slightly nervous.
He was an attractive man, someone that a girl like me would probably never have a chance with. He looked between me and Cora like he was debating it.
“She’ll be fine Derek, besides you look like you need some if your going to stay awake.” I said smiling slightly.
He nodded his head while standing up. I checked Cora’s monitor once more before following Derek. As soon as we were out of the room Derek stopped before turning around to look at me.
“thank you.” He said grabbing my small hand in his large one.
I gave him another smile, squeezing his hand.
“no need to thank me Derek, it’s my job. Now let’s go get that coffee!” I said walking.
Derek followed beside me not letting go of my hand. I could feel my heart beat race with each step we took with our hands intertwined. We rounded a corner to be met with a women. She had red eyes, claws and fangs. I had to rub my eyes to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. I noticed Derek tense from beside me.
“Derek, Derek, Derek I’m sorry about your sister.” the woman said growling at Derek.
Derek dropped my hand, his chest was heaving.
“y/n get out of here.” Derek said in a low voice.
“Derek I can’t leave you.” I said afraid of what this woman was capable of.
“better listen to him sweetheart.” The women snarled again.
“go.” Derek said.
His tone was completely different now, scary almost. I started to back up slowly until I bumped into someone else. I turned around to be met with another creature. This time it was a man with red eyes, claws, and fangs. I did the only logical thing I could think of. I fainted.
“y/n wake up.” A voice whispered in my ear.
I felt something cold pressed on my forehead causing me to slowly flutter my eyes open. Derek was standing over me pressing a cold rag to my forehead.
“Are you okay?” Derek asked looking concerned.
“please tell me none of that was real.” I said looking at him.
“none of what? We were going to get coffee and you just passed out.” Derek said feeling my forehead.
“oh yeah I knew that.” I said blushing.
I know what I saw. But I dropped it not knowing what else to do. You can’t just tell someone you saw people that looked like animals.
“so still want that coffee?” He asked shyly looking at his hands.
“yeah that’d be great.” I said smiling.
I let out another moan as Isaac kissed down my neck. A few more thrusts and we had both finished. Isaac rolled off of me getting up and putting on his underwear. Isaac tossed me my underwear and his t-shirt. I quickly slipped them on and curled back up in my sheets. I took this time to admire my handsome boyfriend.
“what are you staring at?” Isaac asked a little smirk on his face.
“just my perfect werewolf boyfriend.” I answered smirking as well.
Isaac looked down. It was hard for him to accept compliments since his dad pretty much told him he was worthless his whole entire life.
“you don’t mean that.” Isaac said quietly.
“Isaac listen to my heartbeat. you. are. perfect. to. me.” I said slowly.
His smile grew with every word that I spoke.
“come here stay the night.” I said patting the bed beside me.
Isaac smiled crawling in bed beside me. I leaned in to him letting him wrap his arms around me. He kissed my forehead before resting his chin on top of my head.
“I love you Isaac.” I said cuddling closer to him.
“I love you too baby.” Isaac said.
I soon fell asleep listening to the rhythmic patterns of his heart beat. I was awoken to Isaac violently shaking in bed beside me.
“Isaac wake up.” I said shaking him.
“No I don’t want to go in the freezer!” Isaac screamed thrashing some more.
“Isaac please wake up.” I said shaking him some more.
I knew he was abused by his father but I didn’t know how bad it was until now. Isaac shot up, his eyes were golden yellow and he had his claws and fangs extended.
“Isaac.” I said not daring to move.
Isaac looks at me raising his claws.
“Isaac wait no don’t!” I yelled.
I quickly move my arm to cover my body. He claws my arm leaving five long bleeding gashes. I gasped from the impact falling out of the bed. Isaac gets up still in his wolf form. I think he’s still in his dream.
“Isaac baby please wake up, you don’t want to hurt me I know you don’t.” I cried holding my bleeding arm.
Isaac still walked forward growling at me. I backed up until I hit my bedroom door. He closed the distance wrapping his hands around my throat.
“Isaac.” I gasped trying to pry his hands off my throat.
He still wouldn’t wake up. I started to get light headed quickly I did the last thing I could think of to wake him up. I took my hand and cupped his cheek, stroking it with my thumb.
“I love you. I love you so much.” I whispered.
Isaacs eyes started to shift back to their beautiful blue color and his grip loosened. Suddenly he dropped me to the ground fully transforming back to himself. I gasped for air relieved I could breath again. I grabbed the sweatshirt on the floor covering my bleeding arm.
“y/n?” Isaac said with tears in his eyes.
He looked at me, my neck no doubt covered in bruises from his fingers, my arm bleeding pretty badly.
“oh god what did I do.” Isaac said looking horrified.
I was scared too. For the first time I was scared of him. He approached me causing me to flinch. He stopped dead in his tracks a heart broken look washing over his face. He let a few more tears fall down his face before running out of my house. I wanted to run after him and tell him everything was okay but I couldn’t make myself move, I was frozen in fear.
I felt the stare of all the students as I walked down the halls. They knew something was up. Being the girlfriend of Liam Dunbar was dangerous. Lately he was angry and out of control and students were starting to figure out that they didn’t exactly live in the world they once thought they did. Liam was a werewolf the only one left in school. I walked to my locker which was right beside the boys locker room.
“have you seen Liam lately?” Mason asked coming to stand beside me.
Liam hasn’t talked to me since Brett Talbot died. Liam lost control in front of a bunch of people and was hiding now. Scott promised me that he’d find him and everything would be okay but nothing was okay. Nolan walked past me and Mason glaring.
“just ignore them, I got to head to class but text me if you hear from Liam okay?” Mason said giving me a hug.
I nodded my head turning back to my locker. I felt another presence behind me.
“Mason I haven’t heard from him.” I said turning around, but it wasn’t Mason.
There were a few boys from the lacrosse team. I only recognized two, Nolan and Gabe.
“if you’re looking for Liam I haven’t seen him.” I said quietly.
The boys looked at each other smirking.
“oh we found Liam we were actually looking for you.” Nolan smirked.
Suddenly the boys grabbed me by my arms and legs. I started fighting back kicking and screaming but they quickly pushed me in the boys locker room. All of the other lacrosse team members were holding Liam. He had a bloody nose and busted lip. His eyes got wide when he saw me. The boys dropped me on the floor in front of Liam.
“Liam.” I gasped at the sight of him.
“Let her go.” Liam growled.
“we had it all wrong, we should’ve known you could take us beating you but what about putting a couple bruises on this girlfriend of yours?” Gabe said sadistically.
“don’t please.” Liam begged.
One boy grabbed me by my hair yanking me off the floor. Liam started to breath heavily trying to fight his inner wolf from escaping.
“Liam don’t.” I said not wanting anything to happen to him.
“what are you protecting him from?" Gabe asked getting in my face.
"go to hell.” I spat.
Gabe punched me straight in the face.
“STOP.” Liam growled his breathing becoming even heavier.
“Liam I can take it.” I said not really believing my own words.
Gabe punched me again. I could feel blood trickle down from my nose.
“I SAID STOP.” Liam growled louder now.
I could tell he was seconds away from shifting.
“do something about it." Nolan taunted.
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?”
I never thought I’d be so happy to hear that voice. Coach Finstock came in grabbing Gabe and Nolan by their necks.
“YOU TWO, PRINCIPLES OFFICE NOW!” Coach yelled.
Liam ran over to me. He took his shirt off and held it on my bleeding nose.
“GET OUT ALL OF YOU. I CAN’T STAND TO LOOK AT ANY OF YOU!” Coach yelled ushering the other students out of the room.
Coach came over looking at me and Liam. He patted us on the back before helping us up.
“you shouldn’t have done that. You took a punch for me.” Liam said stroking my cheek with his thumb.
“Liam, I’d do anything for you.” I said honestly.
“I love you.” Liam said leaning in.
“I love you too.” I said before connecting our lips.
I was out on the bleachers of Devenford Prep working on homework. I usually spent my free period this way. I wasn’t exactly what you call popular. In fact I was invisible to almost everyone. Seriously google earth couldn’t even find me even if I was dressed up as a ten story building. When people do notice me I usually get bullied. I was about to do another calculus problem when I heard boys yelling. The lacrosse boys came running out on the field.
“oh hey nerd girl, we’re having an extra practice here so you might want to leave.” A popular boy named Jake yelled causing the other boys to laugh.
I looked down feeling my face become red.
“you need all the practice you can get Jake, she could probably own you on this field.” Another boy yelled causing all the players to laugh even louder.
I looked up at the boy who spoke up for me. It was Brett Talbot the most popular boy at Devenford Prep. He was captain of the lacrosse team and every girl at the school wanted him. He looked up at me offering me a small smile. I shyly looked down at my math book.
“She could not!” Jake said getting defensive.
“then you better leave her alone and get to practicing.” Brett said high fiving his team mates.
I couldn’t fight the smile on my face. Brett Talbot stuck up for me. I was a nobody and he stuck up for me. The boys started practicing making it hard to focus on homework. I was on the next problem when a voice yelled.
“y/n watch out!”
I made a mistake looking up. One of the boys lacrosse balls hit me right in the face. I could feel the sting making tears come to my eyes. Some of the boys rushed over crowding me. I started to panic, I wasn’t used to this and I was very uncomfortable.
“guys back up, give her some space.”
The boys dispersed leaving only Brett Talbot standing in front of me.
“are you okay?” Brett asked kneeling in front of me.
I was speechless, literally.
“come on let me take you to the nurse.” Brett said grabbing my arm.
He walked me to the nurses office asking me repeatedly if I was alright. It was really sweet. The nurse gave me an ice pack saying I’d only have a minor bruise on my cheek. I was sitting on the table swinging my feet when someone walked in the room. Surprisingly Brett was still here.
“I told you they still needed practice.” Brett said rubbing the back of his neck.
“yeah the aim was a little off.” I said showing him the bruise on my face.
“does it hurt?” He asked sitting beside me.
It actually hurt a lot but I didn’t want to tell him that.
“uh not to bad.” I said shrugging my shoulders.
Brett sat down beside me grabbing my hand in his. Suddenly my cheek didn’t hurt anymore. It was weird it’s as if he took away my pain I knew that wasn’t possible though.
“I’m really sorry about that.” Brett said looking at me.
“don’t be sorry it wasn’t your fault. Besides you stuck up for me.” I said smiling at me.
“yeah well Jake’s an idiot you aren’t a nerd I wish I was as smart as you, then maybe I wouldn’t be failing calculus.” Brett said looking down at his feet.
“you can’t be failing calculus you’re the best player we have on the team!” I said looking at him.
“I won’t be if I’m ineligible.” He said shrugging his shoulders.
“I’ll tutor you.” I offered.
Brett looked up at me smiling.
“that’s sweet of you but I don’t want you to feel like I’m using you.”
“you aren’t using me, I offered.” I said giving him a smile.
“I’ll make you a deal, you tutor me and I’ll make sure that the lacrosse players leave you alone.” Brett said extending his hand.
“why would you help me?” I questioned honestly wondering why he was trying to help me.
“why wouldn’t I. You’re nice, smart, beautiful.” He said slowly not looking at me.
Wait was thee Brett Talbot nervous?
“you really think that?” I asked perking up.
“I don’t think, I know.” Brett said meeting my eyes.
“then you got a deal.” I said sticking my hand out.
Brett smiled shaking my hand. I could tell this was the start of something beautiful.
I didn’t expect to fall for the enemy, but I did. I fell hard. Even after he tried to kill me, I still felt the longing to be with him. I was under his spell and I just couldn’t break it.
“maybe we should call Theo.” I offered receiving glares from all of the other pack members.
“Theo? You mean that little lying, murdering psychopath.” Liam said crossing his arms.
“Liam he saved your ass on more than one occasion and he helped us defeat the wild hunt, I mean if we’re being hunted by actual professional killers, another set of claws wouldn’t hurt us.” I defended glaring at the other beta.
I looked to our alpha Scott for guidance. I could tell this was weighing heavily on him. We were losing people and it was killing him. He wanted to save everyone but we were already losing. Satomi’s pack was dead, our pack was next. I was only 18, I didn’t want to die yet. I was born a werewolf, I didn’t get to chose the life I wanted.
“they think you’re killing innocent people. Theo actually did kill innocent people.” Mason said defending Liam.
“but we’re not do my eyes look blue to you.” I said flashing my golden eyes.
“and it doesn’t matter if he did, they’re going to hunt all of us either way.” I added crossing my arms across my chest.
“Scott what do you think?” Liam asked.
Scott looked between me and Liam.
“I think if you can find him y/n, another set of claws would do us good.” Scott said exiting his house followed by a complaining Liam and Mason.
I smiled to myself. Now I just needed to find him. I picked up my phone dialing his number. He didn’t answer, he never did. After the wild hunt, Scott told him that he wasn’t needed anymore. I felt bad for him. I walked out of his house going to the sheriffs station. Hopefully I’d be able to find some information there. As I was approaching the Sheriffs station, I heard the click of a gun from behind me. I turned around slowly showing my eyes, fangs, and claws.
“easy there.” The guy holding the gun said.
I looked around me to see I was surrounded by a group of men holding loaded guns all pointed at me.
“go ahead pull that trigger.” I growled taunting the men .
The guy smirked before pulling the trigger. I was easily able to dodge his bullet. I ran at the man tackling him to the ground. Another shot at me making my attention turn to him. I ran at him grabbing the barrel of the gun and snapping it. I growled throwing him into a wall. There were so many of them I didn’t see the man approaching behind. He shot the gun hitting me directly making the bullet go in my back and out through my stomach. I clutched the wound dropping to my knees.
“wolfsbane.” I coughed becoming paralyzed.
A man came over bending down to face me.
“we have a special place for monsters like you.” He said before punching me and knocking me out.
“y/n get up.” I heard a faint voice say
“Y/n get up.” the voice said louder now.
I slowly fluttered my eyes open, but I couldn’t move. I was in a dim room chained to a chain link fence. I started to freak out.
“y/n look at me.”
I knew that voice. I looked over to see Theo chained beside me. On my other side was two other werewolves.
“where are we Theo?” I questioned looking around the room.
“you’re in my house now.” A voice said coming in the room.
“Schrader?” I asked looking at the figure.
“the one and only.” He smirked.
“let us go or I’ll.” I started but was quickly cut off.
“or you’ll what, I control you now.” Schrader said walking over to his desk.
That’s when I heard the electricity buzzing and realized what he was doing. He grabbed the dial turning up the voltage. We writhed in pain as he shocked us. The other werewolves beside me started talking earning us more shocking.
“will you guys shut up and let me do the talking!” Theo growled at us.
Theo turned to Schrader giving him a smirk that made me weak at the knees.
“what they let you shock us a little but not do any real damage.” Theo taunted.
I looked at him wide eyed. He might be tough right now, but I just got shot with wolfsbane causing my healing abilities to be a little slow.
“oh you want more.” Schrader asked walking up to Theo.
“No we’re fine, tell him who you killed.” I said to the other werewolves.
“oh yeah I want more.” Theo said growling.
Was he trying to get us killed? Schrader made sure we could see him turning the dial to the max setting. He flicked the switch causing us excruciating pain. I growled feeling the volts sink in to my skin. Theo growled pulling his arms. I realized what he was doing. He broke free tackling Schrader to the ground. He fought with Schrader only shortly before getting the upper hand. He turned the switch off cutting off the flow of electricity. My head drooped signifying how weak I was feeling. Theo came over to me cutting me loose. I fell in his arms.
“Theo if you ever do something that stupid again. I’ll kill you.” I said in between heavy breaths.
“nice to see you too.” He said smiling at me.
“seriously though I will kill you.” I threatened but he could see through my fake attitude.
“you couldn’t kill me, you like me too much.” He smirked cupping my cheek with his hand.
I could feel the blush spread to my cheeks. He leaned down slowly but stopped when someone cleared their throat.
“are you going to get us down?” The girl said.
“I’m still thinking about it.” Theo growled looking at her.
“we’ll finish this later.” He said turning to me and winking.
I never meant to fall for the enemy but I was glad that I did.

This week had been nonstop practice for you. You spent so much time at school or in your dance studio. The dance showcase was getting closer and closer but you were damn well ready. Plus like you had said, Yoongi was now at your place, at night like nothing had happened. He would come to your home, spend wonderful passionate nights with you, play with the dog and be gone before you woke up the next morning.
As some people might already know about me, I’ve never been one to shy away from a good debate. That’s a trait that I share with Hermione.
There are some people who don’t particularly like arguing or disagreeing. Some people genuinely do. Hermione falls into the second category, and since I do as well, I wanted to try to explain what’s up with all of the arguing between her and Ron.
I don’t think there are that many people who would say that she isn’t an argumentative person by nature. In addition to Ron/Harry, Hermione clashes with Lavender over her rabbit, Luna over her theories, Umbridge over Ministry rules, Snape over the lesson plans for Lupin’s DADA class, Professor Trelawney over Divination, Parvati over Divination, Draco over Hagrid/Buckbeak, etc. And she argues with everyone about house-elves. Hermione is argumentative, and that’s how she prefers it.
Hermione finds it intellectually stimulating to argue, and needs someone who’s going to argue right back.
Hermione is not the sort of person who’s afraid of being the person reading the book while everyone else is having fun. When she fights with Harry/Ron in PA, she doesn’t buddy up with Lavender/Parvati or apologize to the boys just to have someone to sit with at lunch. She sits by herself in the common room and goes it alone. In other words, Hermione is not the kind of person who chooses a bad friend over no friend at all.
If she did not enjoy spending time with Ron, she would have no problem sitting on the other side of the common room reading a book while waiting for Harry to return. And yet, we constantly see her in Ron’s company, even when Harry’s not around.
In every book after CS, she arrives the Burrow/Leaky Cauldron/Number 12 before Harry does. Harry takes it for granted that Ron and Hermione will be sitting together when he shows up in the common room, but that’s not a small thing. In PA, the two of them return from Hogsmeade “looking as though they’ve had the time of their lives.”
Despite how much they fight, it’s very clear that Hermione genuinely enjoys spending time with Ron.
Comfort with Conflict
Harry was raised by the Dursleys, and sees arguing and conflict as associated with strife. He also doesn’t feel comfortable expressing his emotions, so he tends to bottle things up until they explode.
Hermione frequently nags Harry, which Harry does not particularly appreciate. He basically has three strategies when being nagged by Hermione. The first is avoiding/ignoring her, the second is lying to her, and the third is exploding at her. Examples of the first and second include occulmency, sneaking into Hogsmeade, his doubts over Dumbledore’s past, the egg clue, his homework, his feelings about Ron’s absence, Voldemort’s visions in DH, his grades, etc.
When he can’t lie/avoid/ignore, Harry will explode at Hermione. At which point the balance of power tilts sharply toward Harry. When Harry explodes, Hermione crumples. She will cry, shrink back, speak “in a small voice,” etc.
Nagging is simply Hermione’s style, and while she might learn to tone it down, it’s always going to be part of who she is.
The problem is that Hermione needs feedback. Because Harry doesn’t engage with Hermione’s nagging, it’s hard for her to know when she’s entering the danger zone.
Like Hermione, Ron is pretty comfortable with the idea of conflict. He was raised in a house where such behavior was acceptable. He knew that just because his mother shouts or his brothers tease doesn’t mean that they don’t love him. He might be insecure about his worth, but he never has to worry that his family will simply stop loving him if he crosses some kind of invisible line.
Both Hermione and Ron wear their emotions on their sleeves and give each other instant feedback. If Hermione is upset with the boys, she tells them exactly why. Ron is the same way. Even when Ron fights with Harry, he chooses to immediately engage with him that night rather than giving him the cold shoulder and forcing Harry to work it out on his own.
The conflicts over each other’s romantic partners (or potential romantic partners) are a good example as well. When Ron sees something developing with Hermione/Krum, he immediately reacts and Hermione reacts right back.
When Hermione sees that Ron has a crush on Fleur, she wastes no time talking about how Fleur “really thinks a lot of herself” and “scowls” when Fleur gives Ron attention. Hermione reacts to Ron kissing Lavender not by sulking but by sending a flock of birds flying at his head. Neither of them are great at hiding how they feel.
There is a brief period in HBP where Ron decides to give Hermione the cold shoulder after finding out that she kissed Krum. Hermione is quite visibly rattled and upset by this behavior, saying she “doesn’t know what she’s supposed to have done.” Because normally when Ron is upset at Hermione, he tells her why.
A lot of the problems in the later books regarding their romantic lives stem from the same thing - for the first time, they’re not being honest and upfront with one another. Which creates a comedy of misunderstandings and poor decision-making.
Arguing as Conversation
There’s not really anger between Ron/Hermione’s arguments. I know that sounds odd, but to them it’s a cross between a rational discussion and intellectual exercise. Ron presents an idea, Hermione counters, Ron counters, and so on and so forth. It’s basically just a way to pass the time and exchange perspectives.
The morning after Ron/Hermione’s heated argument about Krum after the Yule Ball, Harry notes that they were being “quite friendly to each other, though oddly formal.”
In other words, they’re bending over backwards to be polite to one another and it’s making things weird. It’s totally different from their normal behavior.
There are many times in canon where they will segue from an argument to a normal conversation with no visible ill-will.
Even with Scabbers and the Firebolt, when an argument is finished, it’s finished.
Hermione flung her arms around Ron’s neck and broke down completely.
Ron, looking quite terrified, patted her very awkwardly on the top of the head.
Finally, Hermione drew away.
“Ron, I’m really, really sorry about Scabbers…” she sobbed.
“Oh — well — he was old,” said Ron, looking thoroughly relieved that she had let go of him.
“And he was a bit useless. You never know, Mum and Dad might get me an owl now.”
They’re perfectly capable of stopping in their tracks in order to focus on Harry or something else that’s just happened.
For another example, look at OP:
“Poisonous toadstools don’t change their spots,” said Ron sagely. “Anyway I’ve always thought Dumbledore was cracked trusting Snape. Where’s the evidence he ever really stopped working for You-Know-Who?”
“I think Dumbledore’s probably got plenty of evidence, even if he doesn’t share it with you, Ron,” snapped Hermione.
“Oh, shut up, the pair of you,” said Harry heavily, as Ron opened his mouth to argue back.
Hermione and Ron both froze, looking angry and offended.
“Can’t you give it a rest?” said Harry. “You’re always having a go at each other, it’s driving me mad.” […] The vision of Ron and Hermione’s shocked faces afforded him a sense of deep satisfaction.
Ron/Hermione are shocked, offended, and angry at Harry’s remark, because they don’t see anything wrong with their behavior. This is just how they communicate.
Harry leaves the table and goes straight up to Divination, and Ron joins him a few minutes later:
The rest of the class arrived over the next five minutes. Ron emerged from the trapdoor, looked around carefully, spotted Harry and made directly for him, or as directly as he could while having to wend his way between tables, chairs and overstuffed pouffes.
“Hermione and me have stopped arguing,” he said, sitting down beside Harry.
“Good,” grunted Harry.
“But Hermione says she thinks it would be nice if you stopped taking out your temper on us,” said Ron.
“I’m not -”
“I’m just passing on the message,” said Ron, talking over him. “But I reckon she’s right. It’s not our fault how Seamus and Snape treat you.”
So in a matter of minutes, Ron and Hermione resolved their argument and discussed the best way to handle Harry. Notice that Ron doesn’t actually apologize for arguing with Hermione, he just tells Harry they’ve stopped.
An Expression of Trust
When you get to know someone, you learn that there are certain things they’re sensitive about, and you try to steer away from those topics. This is no different with Hermione/Ron. They both know what’s safe and what’s off-limits.
Hermione can call Ron tactless numerous times and nag him to do his homework, but she’s not going to take a shot at his family’s finances. Ron will tell Hermione to stop nagging and call her a know-it-all, but he would never insult her appearance.
That’s how they operate. And Hermione knows that if she accidentally strays into the danger zone, Ron will let her know. And vice versa.
Keeping Things Balanced
The movies turn Hermione into this perfect superwoman and Ron into a cowardly idiot who’s the butt of the joke, but the truth is that both characters are flawed in their own way.
One of Hermione’s more abrasive qualities is her tendency to be a bit of a know-it-all.
To be clear, being a know-it-all is not the same as being smart. Being smart is knowing the answer. Being a know-it-all is being unable to resist telling everyone else the answer. Essentially the way that Hermione and Ron negotiate a balanced relationship is by Ron engaging her when she nags him or acts like a know-it-all.
Hermione cannot help telling Ron that he’s not pronouncing a spell correctly. Plenty of people are offended by that kind of behavior, even when the other person is right. But Ron, instead of ignoring her corrections or acting as though he’s been gravely insulted, just calls her a know-it-all to keep things even. This evens the scales between them and prevents their relationship from becoming Hermione bossing Ron around.
It’s important to understand that Ron does have a huge amount of respect for Hermione’s abilities. He’s not always the best about coming out and saying it, but he takes it for granted that she’s the cleverest person in the room.
“But we’re not six hundred years old,” Ron reminded her. “Anyway, what are you studying for, you already know it all.”
“But Hogwarts is hidden,” said Hermione, in surprise. “Everyone knows that… well, everyone who’s read Hogwarts, A History, anyway.”
“Just you, then,” said Ron. “So go on - how d'you hide a place like Hogwarts?”
When the O.W.L.s arrive and Hermione looks slightly unhappy and says that she did “not bad,” Ron takes the paper and announces that she got 10 Outstandings and 1 Exceeds Expectations and then playfully makes fun of her for being disappointed given how impressive her scores are. When Ron and Hermione take their apparition tests, he tells Harry that Hermione was “perfect, obviously.” Even when he himself fails, he doesn’t seem to bear any ill-will toward Hermione.
Ron’s not threatened by Hermione’s intelligence, and he’s not too prideful to do exactly what Hermione’s told him to do. But his teasing and his unwillingness to automatically agree with Hermione is what creates a balanced relationship between the two.
And Hermione genuinely needs this in a partner. She needs someone who will volley right back when she argues with them. She needs someone who will understand that her tendency to be a know-it-all is an instristic part of her personality. She needs someone who finds it endearing rather than annoying.
Summary: In which Peter craves to break yet another heart.
Warnings:Peter being an a-hole, angst, a few swears, probably pretty shitty lmao
Comments:So this was written awhile back, but I thought it’d be interesting to write an AU of Peter being a fuckboi, lol. Enjoy!
Step One: Find a victim
He planned it perfectly.
Playing your feelings; smirks and stares shared between the two unlikely matches. Love filled eyes repaid by a wink and a smile that brought girls to their knees.
He was what every girl looked for: built body, soft brown eyes. A smile that lit up a room, hair tousled just the right way without trying. He had everyone under his control - his command, if he took advantage of it - always knowing when someone was ready.
When someone was ready to join his game.
He chose you long ago; shy girl with a big smile and doe eyes . You were a naïve, little girl. And everyone knows naïve, little girls always believed whatever you said.
He just didn’t know you were different.
You were his next playing piece, his next victim, and he knew exactly how to pull at your heart strings. He couldn’t just have you yet - no. He knew all too well that he could get you within a snap.
But, like a kid to their dinner, he liked playing with his food; and he’d mess with you till he knew you were wrapped around his finger. Till he knew there was no way you could turn him down.
It took a few months. Longer than usual, but he knew that he captured your attention, and he was ready to attack.
He was ready to start his game.
You wanted to fall for his games.
All the words he whispered into your ear, all the kisses you thought were reserved only for you. All the I love yous he’d press into your ears and all the touches he’d leave to linger on your skin. The familiar tingles that ran up your arms every time his hands caressed yours.
You were miserably caught in his game; a loser who only ever wanted to win.
When he finally won you over; when he chose you out of all the girls that crossed his path. When he realized he was bored of his original toy, when he was hungry for a another playing piece, you were there.
You fell right into his trap; and you don’t know if you regret it or not.
Because, even if you knew what he does to girls and even if you knew he’d never love you. Even if you knew you were nothing more than a little path in his little game. Even if you knew all his lies.
You always came running back.
It wasn’t your fault you were meant to love the only person who didn’t know what the word even meant.
Because, to him, love was completely different. Some say he confused lust and love and decided to ignore all the signs that showed him what love really was; this was his game. He made up the rules and knew exactly what he was doing.
He just needed you to put it all together.
Step Two: Get them to fall for you
He was persistent, to say the least.
It started with the constant flirting; your ears filled with obnoxious boasting, his mint breath fanning your face a little too close to comfort. You were tired by the first day, everything he said was just bullshit in your ears. The constant names of babe, darling and love becoming repetitive - a routine.
But, somewhere along the line of the egotistical boasting and the laughing between class; the constant compliments and the toothy grin. Between everything, a friendship soon blossomed. It was unconventional and down right ridiculous, but you found yourself enjoying the brown-eyed boys’s company.
He became your best friend.
And it wasn’t long before he was more - more to you.
He could see it; in the way your eyes sparkled every time you saw him, eyes gleaming with something he’d seen all too well many times before. He knew you were falling, and he knew you were falling fast. Right into his arms.
Right into your demise.
It was part of the fun, he thinks.
Seeing how long it took him to gain your trust, gain your friendship. He’s never taken this road before; testing new strategies to kill girl’s heart’s under his grip, and he thinks he likes this one the best.
You fell fast, with no hesitance, without stopping, you were falling hard and you were falling fast, not having a care in the world so long as you ended up in his arms. And he was there, standing, just waiting for you to fall right into the arms of your beloved best friend.
But he knew from the beginning he was never your friend; he wasn’t capable of being your friend.
I mean, what monster would befriend a meal?
Step three: Pull them into a false comfort
For this to work, he needed to love you.
It was an equation to him - hold her close, but not too close. Look into her eyes, but look away the split second she leans in. Love her, love her just enough for her to stay - and he knew exactly what he needed to do to make you fall into his trap, left to rot till he let you out again.
He planned every little touch, every little look, every goddamn word that left you hands reaching out to his – everything. He found it quite amusing as to what he could get out of you through a simple caress of his hand. He strung you around like a doll, throughly enjoying playing his little game with someone so willing.
But at times, he felt something.
It wasn’t love - how was he supposed to know what it was when he couldn’t tell the difference between that and lust - love and hunger - when everything he did was driven by a love he never knew about. That he could never see.
But, when he saw the love blossom in your eyes, when he saw the smile the first time he said “I love you.”
When he saw you trusting him, he felt something he thought he never would.
It was such a simple feeling, but he knew it would lead to his ultimate downfall - a painful loss in what was supposed to be his game - and he couldn’t let it show.
He couldn’t make himself weak when he was this far in the game.
You didn’t know if you knew about what he was doing.
After so many years, you felt as if you knew you were just another toy - a plaything he always had around him, tearing it about piece by piece before all he had was this.
A tattered shell of a girl who was whole only a few months before. He was so good at pretending and acting and was just so good at what he did and what he was doing, you found yourself believing everything he said.
You thought you knew, you thought you were smarter.
But all you were was a girl in love with the wrong boy.
Step Four: Slowly start tearing them apart
He needed to take it slow.
Step by step, piece by piece, he needed to slowly tear you apart - drive you crazy. He’s done this a million times before, but he doesn’t think it’s been as easy as it was with you. He loved your willingness to correspond with his actions, to follow what he did and what he said and drink it all up like it was the truth.
He started tearing you apart, and he thinks he didn’t even have to do the first step - you already did it for him.
He’d come home later and later every single night and he knows it’s tearing you apart.
Because, you see, you made the first step so easy for him.
You cared for him; and that’s all he needed before this step went into full swing.
He’d come home, perfume in his wisp, but an apology on his lips, the words I love you, I promise it won’t happen again crossing over and over again in your mind. The questions you told yourself, no answers to go along with them. You slowly started questioning if you were good enough - good enough for Peter - a god in the eyes of a small, naïve little girl.
Your confidence was plummeting, but that didn’t stop you from from falling yourself, right into the arms of your beloved boyfriend - someone who was never there to begin with.
He was just a ghost in the eyes of a broken girl who was too blind to see the truth.
He was so close.
He sees it - he sees it in how your eyes follow his when they linger too long on a girl across the room. He hears the desperation in your words when you tell him you love him - you love me too, right? - and he always answered yes, a smile on his pink lips and a sparkle in his eyes.
You believed him; of course you did. You were strung up in all the lies that you couldn’t see - stuck in an invisible maze where the only way to get out was cut your way out. You were miserably lost, but you were okay.
You were okay because you had Peter.
Even if he smelled of something different every night, and even if his eyes never filled with love when he saw you; even if you knew you were never enough for the king who was too high on his pedestal to reach - even if you knew, you knew you could never stop loving him.
It was possibly one of the biggest things you could’ve given him; your heart so willingly put on your sleeve even if Peter already tattered its insides - even if it’s hollow from everything he did.
He doesn’t feel bad anymore. Some would say he was so, so heartless to say so, but it wasn’t his fault.
It was yours for falling in love. It was yours for breaking yourself in the process.
It was yours for believing in him.
Step Five: Leave them wondering what went wrong
You should’ve seen it coming.
You should’ve seen all the signs, you should’ve bolted away from the heart that was so willingly given to you. Every touch, every word, every fucking lie he pressed into your lips.
You should’ve seen it coming - you should’ve been able to stop it.
But you couldn’t. You couldn’t because you were blinded by the love you had for him. You were blinded by the words that you thought would fix this, by the hope of somewhere, somehow, having him love you back.
(You learned soon enough that monsters could never love what was already devoured).
Your little heart was all you had to scavenge, pouring all you had into a relationship you thought could last -
Into the boy you thought you loved.
But when you saw him, a girl dangled by his side, lips attached in the poison that brought tears to your eyes, you had no strength to hold onto what little you had. You let hope get the better of you, letting yourself believe with some sort of faith that your small voice calling out to him would bring him back to you.
He didn’t seem to hear you or your heart shattering the floor.
He could pick what he heard; and he decided to leave your heartbreak for later.
Step Six: Leave their heart under the ground
You didn’t see him for weeks.
He didn’t seem to care for what you felt that night - his plan, his game finally ended, a sweet victory with another girl in his grasp - and he didn’t care if the sheets you once shared were stained with the tears of the girl he never loved.
He didn’t care as long as he won his game.
But he wasn’t finished; he had one more step, one more lie to break you down. He planned everything out, every word he would spit at you, the smirk he’d throw at the broken eyes of the girl with the broken soul.
He knew everything that was going to happen. He’s done it countless of times before and he knows it’ll be just as sweet with you.
He thought he had everything planned.
But just as always, he was wrong.
“It’s okay, Peter.”
He didn’t expect those words to come out of your mouth.
Your lips held a sad smile, eyes shadowing red in the sight of the boy who broke your heart. You spent countless of hours on tears - ramblings of what you could’ve done better whispered to yourself through the screams of your heart, voice shouting out to the boy you once loved - you spent hours breaking yourself down to the point where you were left a mess.
You wanted to hate him with every fibre of your being.
But, no matter how much you wanted to hate him - to spit words like shards that would cut out his voice like knives - you just couldn’t bring yourself to do so.
He didn’t deserve that victory.
You wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of your tears spilt onto his wrists. He wanted to do that - to break you.
You wouldn’t let him know how much you’re hurting.
So instead, your hands cupped his face, eyes bright as your lips are brought to his, one last peck for one last victory.
He never thought victory could taste so bittersweet.
He thought he won.
He thought he’d broke you down to nothing.
But when your lips met his, your eyes shadowing the love you once had for him - all the happiness he brought into your life with the simple presence of his smile - a pang in his chest set him back as he stood on your door step.
He hadn’t felt that for so long - not since your first kiss, not since he first said he loved you - but it came back to slap him in the face. It wasn’t guilt for you, no he felt something much worse for you.
He felt guilty for loving you.
He felt guilty for falling in love with someone who was supposed to mean nothing more than dust on the floor.
It came to haunt him on his walk to victory.
Even in the end, even if he won his little game - even if he strung you and broke you till you were nothing but dust on the floor, even if he succeeded in every step, he found his heart was exactly where yours was:
Beaten, broken; barely holding on under the soil that covered it.
He messed up. He messed up your life - his in the process and he didn’t even know it. Because, before all of this - before all the feelings, before he chose you and before he started playing you, he never knew you’d be different. Because you taught him what love was in the touch of your hands, in the way you’d always hang onto him even if he wasn’t there to hold onto you. He learned what it was because it was all you ever gave him. He learned the difference between love and lust and he knew you were it.
You were love.
Inside his head - inside his heart - feelings are banging against each other, every goddamn thing’s reminding him of you and he can’t think straight anymore, but he knows one thing.
Sorry that he chose you; sorry that he played you.
He’s sorry that he loved you. That he loved you when it was too late; when his name already brought a venom to your lips, and his presence was only the reminder of your heartbreak.
He’s sorry he ever fell in love.
He’s sorry that it’s too late.
Final Step: Realize there was more than one heart broken
He didn’t realize he set himself up for heartbreak. He never knew that he’d miserably lose a game that he created. He didn’t know that his dismay would be from a naïve, little girl like you. Because he believed that you were strung around his finger - he just didn’t bother to notice he was wrapped around yours too.
Love’s a cruel game sometimes, that came to Peter soon enough. And even the most skilled can fall from a pedestal that was maybe too high for them anyways.

A/N: This is my submission for the lovely Kait’s ( @bionic-buckyb) 5k AU Challenge. Congrats on the followers, friend! My prompt was “Can you please come over so I don’t feel so alone?”
Second to last part! Tags are closed. I loved all your messages so much!
I’ve been on the fence with this theory for a while. I’ve gone between flirting with the idea and rejecting it. My inclination to believe in it came from seeing Jon reacting uncharacteristically in certain moments or some dialogue that seemed too on the nose when it wasn’t backed up by what we were being shown. On top of that, Kit’s acting was inconsistent with what this storyline was expecting me to believe and certain dialogues and actions that seemed to be on script contradicted it too. However, I wrote it off as bad execution in 7x04 and 7x05. Then 7x06 happened and Jon actually bent the knee - while Dany was willing to help him without it - and it made no sense nor did him calling her “Dany” out of nowhere or “My queen”. She came to help them and lost a dragon/child, but giving up his kingdom because of that? That’s not just betrayal; it’s foolish. I couldn’t fathom why Jon would do that. Come 7x07 and the episode expected me to believe Jon had never told a lie or broken a vow in his life (when he had before) and sabotaged a deal which he basically went on a dumb wight hunt for.
His lack of emotion for Arya and Bran threw me off in 7x05, but I just wrote it off as bad direction just so that it didn’t keep me up at night. But then Jon didn’t react to Brienne’s presence and neither did she. He didn’t seem guilty about his decision and how Sansa would take it, when for the first four episodes of this season he’s had quite visible reactions related to her. But suddenly, Jon was all about Dany now and didn’t give a damn about the Starks or the North? That made no sense. So I started listing out the inconsistencies to come to certain conclusions. This post attempts to break down this storyline from various angles to see if there can be an explanation beyond “it’s just bad writing”. It’s pretty long, but I didn’t go into as many details as I wanted to.
A really nice anon’s been looking for mob boss stevetony fics, so here’s my list for you, nonnie :D Also, do check out @wingheadshellhead‘s rec-list for fanart and edits :) Some of the WIPs haven’t been updated in a while, but are still well-worth the read.
Please kudos and leave comments for our hardworking authors!
Kings Of Coney Island by Vespasiana: In which Steve is a rising mafia don lacking in panache, Tony is an unethical businessman with a target on his back, and somehow a fake marriage will solve all their problems. Also murder. Murder solves a lot of problems, too. (Ults fic. WIP - not updated since 2013)
i fed it to the wolves by naimu: Wolves rule New York City. Perhaps that was why Tony never liked New York City. Along with the giant empty mansion filled with his ghosts and the massive tower that, yes had his name on the building but never felt truly his. Too many wolves in one place made everyone itchy- for a fight or well… a fuck. (Werewolf AU - not updated since 2012)
He’s dangerous because he runs the New York city underworld, pushing contraband, moving money, always that face behind the curtain that the detectives and the police officers scurry to try to glimpse, but he’s too careful, much too careful to get caught; he has most of the New York elite chained to their desks, and they don’t even know it. Brutal, ruthless, and entirely cold-blooded. On most days, at least. On other days, Mr. Rogers is a substitute teacher with a love for art and a talent for teenagers.
Tony Stark runs a multi-billion dollar technology conglomerate, somehow keeping it together while losing it at the same time. He’s a smooth-talker, capable of charming an entire room in under three minutes. Deceptively dashing with a tongue of silver, under his thumb, he has more money than anyone could possibly use, near unlimited resources, and a curiously large blindspot when it comes to police or even government oversight. Not that he’d abuse that privilege.
And of course, they have to run into each other. (WIP - not updated since 2013)
There were theories of course, of what The Captain would look like. Most followed the typical Hollywoodesque belief that he was some version of the Godfather, sitting in a dark room with a cigar, commanding his forces with a flick of his wrist. There were even some that even thought that The Captain was not one person, but a whole network of people with eyes and ears everywhere.
The blonde Adonis in front of him was definitely not what Tony was expecting. Of course, in the end it didn’t matter. There was a reason no one knew what The Captain looked like. Because anyone who saw his face never lived to tell the tale. (WIP)
Two Families by Neverever (@captainneverever): Maria Stark and Sarah Rogers seal their new-found alliance through an arranged marriage for their sons, Tony and Steve. Steve, the heir to Sarah’s mob empire, is doubtful but wants to make his mother happy. But Tony is in denial about the deep deep trouble his family is in and wants no part of this. How will Steve and Tony deal with their unwanted marriage, survive a mob war, and defeat their enemies? And what if they might, possibly find each other attractive and interesting? (WIP)
Laws Of Bygones by XtaticPearl (@xtaticpearl): One ran a mob, the other chased them. But there was a stream of memories and past chasing both of them, across lives and universe. An incomplete story will be retold again, with the same heroes, a reborn love, and a revenge burning for centuries. (WIP)
Ain’t Nobody’s Business If I Do by copperbadge (@copperbadge): The year is 1930, Prohibition and the Depression are both in full swing, and Chicago Police Detective Steve Rogers has his hands full. There’s a dead body on the banks of Lake Michigan, the entire city’s legal system is corrupt, and the king gangster of the North Side, Tony Stark, has taken more than a passing interest in him.
(Mafia!AU where Steve never wanted Tony to get involved in his mob business - he wants to keep Tony safe, no matter the cost, even if it means letting Tony forge himself into something just as terrifying as Steve.)
Brooklyn’s Finest by kellebelle: “Day #79 of Stark Watch. Where is the 25 year old genius? No one has spotted him in nearly three months, and many are speculating that he might be dead. Others remain hopeful and alert, eagerly awaiting the return of their favorite billionaire to the spotlight.”
HYDRA gets Tony, then Steve gets Tony. Steve isn’t sure how this became his life but he’s fairly certain Tony Stark is going to be the death of him. Mafia AU.
Involvement by Keyboard_Weaving_Stories: Clint had always tried to keep his baby brother out of trouble, which meant keeping him in the dark about his involvement with the local mob. But one day, Tony’s curiosity opens him up to a whole new world around him and there’s only guessing what kind of trouble he can get into.
Baiting the Water by Veldeia (@veldeia): In the underworld of 1930’s New York, a bitter artist turned small-time swindler takes a bold step and goes to the Kingpin for help in plotting his revenge against his former friend and patron, an obnoxious inventor with a taste for art.
The Devil’s Strand by Woad: 1940. Steve Rogers just wants to serve his country, but with a dead man’s name on his wrist the army will never take him. Soulmate marks can be removed, but so-called cures have already landed Steve in debt with the wrong sort of people, and it’s hard enough to make ends meet waiting tables.
With a bad heart, Tony Stark, a capo in his father’s mob, never dreamed he would serve his country. But when a ship sinks under mysterious circumstances, a special division of Navy Intelligence calls on Tony for his connections. He’s never liked the family business, but he thinks maybe, just this once, he can manage to use it for good.
They meet by chance one night, when Steve knows him as only "Tony.” But after Steve is pulled into mob business and meets the capo, their relationship becomes much more complicated.
Get Money, Get Paid by Missy_dee811 (@viudanegraaa): Arno, Tony’s sadistic evil brother, usurps control of the Iron Legion with the help of someone close to Tony. Tony’s left reeling. In due time, he and Steve, the leader of the Howling Commandos, form an unlikely partnership. A rival gang, the Guardians, led by the charismatic Peter, threatens the status quo. Seeing no other way to protect Tony, with whom he’s in love, Steve proposes a fake marriage, which Tony accepts.
My Boy Builds Coffins by myadamantiumheart: Tony hadn’t known that he was getting involved with a mob boss, Steve hadn’t given any indications of being anything other than a mild-mannered art teacher, and Pepper hadn’t been right about one night stands being more dangerous than a long term relationship. (series)
Make Tomorrow’s World Better (Through Any Means Necessary) series by Faillen: When Tony Stark finds out about Obadiah Stane’s double dealing, he seeks out the Captain, the only man in New York that has a team with the resources and ability to take down HYDRA—the neo-Nazi gang Stane’s been selling to. Acting as an informant under the alias Iron Man, Tony finds out a few months later that the Captain is actually his sweet-as-pie boyfriend, Steve Rogers. In order to take down Stane and HYDRA, they work together (along with the Avengers, the gang that Steve leads) with Tony focusing dragging Stane’s betrayal out of the shadows and Steve trying to destroy HYDRA—and Johann Schmidt—once and for all. But close-call assassination attempts and politics with the NYPD throw a wrench in not only in their plans, but also in their relationship, leaving them both wondering if sacrificing everything for tomorrow’s world is really worth it.
The Captain by arianapeterson19: Tony was convinced that the men who had nabbed him off the street had the wrong guy; Tony didn’t know any guy named the Captain. However, if the Captain wanted to show up and tell them that, Tony would really appreciate it.
OR The one where Steve really should have told his boyfriend he was a mob boss BEFORE he was kidnapped. (sequel)
Surprise, I Got Kidnapped by FanofAllThingsAdorkable: This time, it actually was Tony’s fault. He knew that Steve’s enemies were everywhere. He knew that they all had seen his face before. But he had still slipped away from his guard, leaving them in the dust while he ran free. He had just wanted to pick up Steve’s anniversary present without Steve knowing for once. Summary: Every person is born with the image of their soulmate firmly fixed in their mind, but when the super soldier serum causes Steve to lose all but faint memories of the face he is meant to one day love, he begins to lose hope of ever finding you. In present day, you are one of the many people inoculated with a suppressor meant to ease your pressure to find The One by ridding you of your soulmate visions. Will fate still find a way to bring you together?
Warnings: Language, little bit of angst and pining, but it’ll be okay, I promise. Super mega sappy fluff
A/N: This is my piece for @howlingbarnes Languages of Love birthday challenge based on the prompt “Koi No Yokan: The instantaneous feeing of meeting someone and knowing that the two of you are destined to fall in love. Not love at first sight, just knowing that you will one day fall in love with them.” The destiny bit really got me going. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at a soulmate AU.
since Steve could remember he had always been able to see your face the moment
he closed his eyes. It was what got him out of bed on his worst days: knowing
that he hadn’t met you yet, that today could be the day. And it never bothered
him that as he got older, more and more of the people his age found their
soulmates, finally picked that face out of the crowd that had been etched so
deeply into their minds, into their very beings, since day one. No, he wasn’t
worried. He would find you when the time was right.
main conflict came in the form of his artistic inclinations. He wanted so badly
to draw you, paint you, have some real physical evidence of your existence, but
he couldn’t. It was considered bad luck to try to capture you soulmate’s image
on paper before you met them. Some even went so far as to claim that doing so
nullified the forces that eventually brought all soulmates together, that to
have a physical representation of your soulmate was to, in effect, replace the
first meeting. Steve didn’t intend to take any chances.
teased him about it, saying it was a silly superstition that only old women and
children believed in, but when Steve would respond with an offer to draw
Bucky’s soulmate for him, he would only raise his hands in surrender with a
playful smirk. And so, Steve settled for daydreaming, living for the day he
would finally find you, meet you, fall in love with you.
They’re kind of assholes - Superboy x Reader (Batsis)
This is kind of a part two of “You’re kind of an asshole”, the aftermath of it all. Like now, Conner and the reader (Batman’s daughter) professed their love for each other, and it’s not to everyone’s taste. Not to name anyone but…Bruce and Clark are not ok with this. Anyway, hope you’ll like it :
They were both sitting at a table in the Watchtower’s common room, sulking and brooding (when Diana asked what was happening to Clark, as she was used to Broody Bruce, he just groaned in return and she kinda just understood that this was about you and the boy). With a scoff and a sip of his coffee, your father says :
-This isn’t going to work.
-I know, it’s too weird.
-I caught him in her room a few nights ago, God only know what would have happened if I didn’t came in when I did.
-Oh please, no details. We’re talking about your daughter, whom I consider my dear niece, and my…clone. It’s just too weird !
-Yeah well you would be even more weirded out if you had caught them making out on her desk !
-Bruce, stop. Seriously. This is making me uncomfortable.
-And you think I’m comfortable with this ? Because if you do you’re wrong. I hate it. It’s my little girl we’re talking about !
Diana, who was coming back from the coffee machine with a warm cup, cannot help herself and has to say :
-You are aware that you’re daughter is an adult right ? And that when Dick started to date Barbara you didn’t say anything, even though she’s older than him. Or when Jason or Tim st…
-I know she’s an adult ! That’s the problem ! She’s growing up too fast ! And it’s not the same than with the boys…
Diana loses her amused grin, and with a very serious expression, stare at the Bat and says :
-Oh ? And how is it different ? Because she’s a girl you have to protect her more ? Or she can’t go out because of her sex ? By Hades Bruce I thought you were more open minded than that !
Your father just looks away and grumbles an answer no one understands.
He knows it’s ridiculous. He knows he shouldn’t be worried, as he knows that Conner is a good man. He knows you’re an adult and are capable of taking your own decisions but…you’re also his little girl. And he doesn’t actually have a good excuse as to why he wants to protect you more dating wise than his sons…Even though Dick is the one that always end up falling in love way too fast and having his heart broke !
In front of him, Clark doesn’t hold Diana’s gaze either (neither him or Bruce would dare to, and besides, when she was annoyed like that, it was better to just look away and shut up), but he has the same thoughts than his friend. He wants to protect you, and for some reasons, deep down, he just can’t find the strength to trust Conner, even though the boy proved himself worthy multiple times…

a/n: DEDICATED TO YOU, JAY-Z. (not the rapper) @gracefulweather ILY!! HAPPY RLY LATE BIRTHDAY??? i’m so sorry omg rip but enjoy my poor humour!!!!
Jimin knows that when his irises turn a deep red, resembling that of burnt umber, it means all variants of anger– arising when Jungkook loses a round of Mario Kart that strikes a low and petty blow to his ego as a proponent of competition, becomes frustrated when he’s unable to make that absolutely perfect stroke of detail he’s trying to recreate in a painting, and mostly definitely when Jimin keeps borrowing his shampoo without asking for permission and keeps on leaving his belongings all over his living room floor when he comes over to freeload (but of course, Jungkook can never stay mad at him and his angelic character for too long).
There’s aquamarine blue for when he’s feeling all doom and gloom and blue; a dark indigo with a lingering grey shadow when he’s feeling mercurial like the rainy skies; a golden orange with flecks of warm yellow when he’s happy and carefree; a murky green for when he’s feeling sick and tired and a rich brown for when he’s feeling neutral and generally placid about life.
There were many colours that came with different kinds of moods, each to their own individuality that was certainly distinctable. And, well– Jungkook felt relief and joy to know that Jimin was more fascinated with such a phenomenon than skeptical as he eagerly pursued him with questions concerning the malleable colours of his eyes and wanting to know what each meant to the point where Jungkook felt comfortable enough to forgo his sunglasses around him, until one day–
“Hey, Jungkook,” Jimin sits his chin on top of his palms quite endearingly with elbows over his pile of notes, pink cheeks squished while he leans forward with soft blonde locks falling above rounded eyes that blink curiously as he stares right into Jungkook’s soul, “I’ve been wondering about your eyes.”
So I’ve got some stuff to say about my favorite character: Garnet!
It’s kind of in response to some criticism I’ve heard: specifically, that Garnet became nothing but a Fusion poster child who thinks about and talks about nothing but fusion since the time her Fusion status was revealed at the end of Season One.
But I’m not really arguing with the perspective so much as trying to bring some nuance to seeing why Garnet is written the way she is–by examining how her focus has changed over time and what I think we’re going to see the show do with her in the future.
Okay, so to some extent? Yes, Garnet’s inclination to talk about fusion all the time went into overdrive after the reveal. Garnet says very little about herself for an entire season, doesn’t find excuses to bring up fusion, doesn’t seem particularly eager to extol the virtues of fusion or fuse with others (though they seem excited to fuse with her, for sure!), and only has a couple little hints about being a giant fusion-fan dork when we see her reaction to Stevonnie.
But keep in mind that in Season One, Garnet’s few attempts to open up were not rewarded. For instance, Garnet felt punished for revealing something about herself–her Future Vision–to Steven late in Season One, and it was clear that she risked it because the possibility of being closer to him was worth so much. She learned that her words have incredible power, and that this power is magnified when she’s letting others into the reality of her existence. Garnet is … let’s be serious here, Garnet is majestic and bafflingly cool but she can be kind of awkward. She seems like a stoic badass most of the time when she doesn’t open her mouth, but she can REALLY be a mess when she starts talking and doesn’t think it through first.
She’s completely in her element when she’s talking about fusion, though–and it’s not just because she is a Fusion and loves being one. It’s also because she was the FIRST of her type of Fusion, and she had to fight so hard on so many levels to be allowed to exist. Her existence has, for so long, been ABOUT being allowed to exist.
I’m going to take a weird turn here and talk about Amethyst. But it’ll connect in a minute, I promise.
Amethyst was the clear outsider of the Crystal Gems. She arrived after the war and has no idea about a lot of the events from Gem history. She spent most of her life with no idea that she was “supposed to be” big like Jasper, or what it was like to live on Homeworld, or what other Amethysts might be like, or what her status would have been if she’d come out on time.
And I imagine Rose ADORED THAT.
I suppose Rose was DELIGHTED at the idea of a Gem being alive for the first time in known history without that programming. What it must be like to NOT be indoctrinated into Gem culture, the worst parts of it anyway, not have to fight to oppress others and steal resources for your world and worship your Diamond, just to LIVE as part of a family, somewhat like the humans Rose so admired. Amethyst was a clean slate!
I don’t know how much she came out of the ground knowing, but it’s clear she was NOT programmed with any idea about what Gems are “supposed to be” like. It was news to her when Peridot said she was supposed to be twice her size, was supposed to outrank everyone on her team, was this mysterious thing called a Quartz.
It’s a lot like being adopted: she never knew any other family, and she loved her family and her home, but what is it like, to use an inappropriate human analogy, to find one’s BLOOD? When you’re the only one in your family who never knew it?
It was satisfying to her to find her Famethyst at the Zoo. Seeing other Amethysts (and Beta Quartzes), knowing that most of them might have been huge but ended up total goofballs like her, with her ancestry, with the answer to her original name (which to her wasn’t an automatizing reduction of identity to an alphanumeric designation, but instead represented CONNECTION, HISTORY, ANSWERS). What it must be like to her to find that family and know something she’d never known–something Rose didn’t want her to ever have to know, but still had meaning to her.
Back to Garnet.
Garnet is a Fusion, and she can never QUITE be an individual the way single Gems can. She doesn’t consider that a failing, and even though she almost always feels like one being, her Fusion identity IS her. “This is who we are” and “This is who I am” are both statements about her that are true, even though they suggest duality and individuality at once. Garnet has no one to talk to about that, and she’s used to keeping it inside. But no Gems who meet her are ignorant that she’s a Fusion. They immediately see it, looking at her, knowing that’s what she is and carrying whatever judgment they might have about it.
He has no idea what a Fusion is for most of his life, and has no idea that he might need to see Garnet as fundamentally different from his other “parents.” That may have been sort of freeing for her, I think. Not telling Steven was really her only chance to know what it’s like to look into someone’s eyes and know they just think of you like one being.
Let’s remind ourselves who told Steven about fusion. It wasn’t Garnet! Amethyst brought up Opal. Pearl explained what fusion is. Opal was the first Fusion Steven met while knowing he was meeting a Fusion, and he felt a little weird about it at first because he didn’t know who she was and was worried she wouldn’t know who he was. Steven still has no appreciable relationship with Opal. Just with Pearl and Amethyst.
Garnet is a perma-Fusion and she isn’t going to spend much of her life unfused. It’s what she wants and it’s what Sapphire and Ruby want. Steven obviously wants to understand them, and he has more of a relationship with them than with Opal, but I doubt Garnet wants him to get too used to it. She’s the permanent fixture there. She’s going to stay Garnet. And she wanted Steven to love that she is Garnet without feeling a weird sense of loss over the idea that her presence prevents him from seeing Ruby or Sapphire.
But during Season One, Garnet found that presenting herself like a single Gem means keeping a secret and not opening up much at all.
She became more demonstrative after the reveal because she COULD be–and someone she loves so much has crossed the threshold where he could have judged her or been upset, and he WASN’T. You could see she felt guilty, but also so relieved.
She is free to talk about it now, to show him who she is, to help him understand his own fusion capabilities and fusion identity when he’s part of Stevonnie or Smoky, and for once, she gets to be the mentor to someone about something so sacred to her.
There is more to Garnet than being a Fusion–much more. She has a personality. She has strengths, and interests, and fears, and quirks both adorable and troubling. The show does continue to explore those, and I think sometimes people forget about it when this show focuses on her relationships.
In “Reformed,” Garnet explored her influence as a leader and what “being too hard on” Amethyst inspired in her; it was an Amethyst episode, but Garnet learned too, and it wasn’t “about” her being a Fusion.
When she was frozen in horror under the Kindergarten when she met the fusion experiments, of course this related to fusion and was particularly upsetting to her because it’s a perversion of her identity, but she also explored her feelings of guilt and grief, and discussed the importance of consent with Steven.
And the consent issue came up again with Sardonyx, which again, though it focused on fusion, it was not exclusively about Garnet being a Fusion. It was about trust with Pearl, betrayal, and again, the important heaviness of being the leader, being the one everyone looks to for what to do–even when she’s falling apart, she has to be the example. “Always the bigger Gem,” indeed. Interesting how in that case, her Fusion status made her more vulnerable to taking that betrayal so much more personally.
Since then, yes, we’ve seen a LOT of fusion-centric stuff about her. Peridot’s Very Special Episode with Garnet was about understanding fusion, but also about understanding GARNET. As is necessary with understanding Garnet, seeing her as a Fusion is an important part of understanding her as a whole. It’s not the only thing to understand, but it is FUNDAMENTAL.
The episode “The Answer” was the story of her relationship and how she became herself, but it was also about her being literally unmasked for an entire episode, coming forward to tell Steven an important foundation of her character, having the chance finally to reveal personal information to him NOT under duress, in a way she chose and planned and had complete control of. And then having Steven appreciate and accept THAT. Not in a terrible situation when they’d been kidnapped and Ruby and Sapphire were wrenched apart and revealed to him in such a traumatic way. This time, it’s HER way. Garnet got to do that, and got to include him, on her terms.
“Monster Reunion” had important Garnet stuff in it–it wasn’t a Garnet-centric episode, but it involved Garnet first denying Steven’s request to help Centipeetle, and then giving in, and then acknowledging that letting him follow his heart had been a good decision.
In the “Bismuth” episode, Bismuth kept bringing up Garnet’s being a Fusion as a sort of breaking-your-balls kind of ribbing, but at the point when they’d known each other, that was a new thing, something she was probably actively trying to develop pride in, just like Pearl and her pride in belonging to no one.
“Mindful Education” wasn’t just about fusion training or learning to cultivate balance; it was also about mindfulness meditation in general, and though it focused on how being out of sync is particularly confusing and lethal for Fusions, it had very good lessons about handling trauma and reminding yourself where you are, which can be generalized for Steven and Connie even when they’re not Stevonnie.
“Three Gems and a Baby” did sort of oversimplify each of the Gems’ misunderstandings of what Steven might be–Amethyst trying to see the glow as evidence of shapeshifting, Pearl trying to see the glow as evidence that Rose is operating by known Gem logic and is trapped but not gone, Garnet trying to see the glow as evidence that Steven is a complex Fusion with human organic material and is trying to unfuse.
I’m not sure exactly what Garnet was thinking was going to happen if she was right and he unfused into two beings, but she evidently STILL thinks of Steven as a type of love Fusion if you assume Guide to the Crystal Gems is accurate. It’s pretty typical to draw common ground between yourself and someone you want to understand or be closer to. And if you think about it, this episode also showed that Garnet, despite her attempts to be a calm voice of reason, REALLY MISSES ROSE and was showing how desperate she was to see her again. Yes, she focused on fusion, but it was something larger in context–just like she is.
And then “Steven’s Dream” happened, which involved some pretty heavy stuff between Garnet and Steven. She withheld the truth, she didn’t know how to make him stay out of danger, she felt powerless and helpless to stop him because she still has so much fear of the Diamonds and what they can so easily take away from her and her planet and her friends. She gets a lot of criticism over this episode because she fumbled SO epically when almost all of us can think of something we could have said to stop Steven from going to Korea if we’d been partial to Garnet’s visions. But that was an episode about their relationship, her shortcomings, her WEAKNESSES, and both of the times she expressed her helplessness, she took her visor off like she always does in super sincere moments.
This whole dynamic was very important, and though it did lead to a plot line that made her unfusing necessary, I think a lot of people overlook “Steven’s Dream” as a significant Garnet episode. It is. Garnet screwed up and it had nothing to do with her being a Fusion and it had everything to do with how she can fall to pieces in other ways if she’s made to face her fears–to even consider being face to face with Blue Diamond.
“Room for Ruby” had a couple Garnet moments too; it opened and closed with Steven interacting with Garnet, and though not much went on, it seemed like she is still trying to figure out how much to put in Steven’s hands …
And I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s wondering when and if and to what extent Steven can share the burden or take over as leader, like his mother. Because I don’t think Garnet particularly likes leading the team. She does it because she can handle it, but she’s not always the best strategist. She can be emotional in ways that make her short-sighted, and that’s when–like Ruby–she punches first and asks questions later, and–like Sapphire–she puts on a mask and pretends everything is very fine and no one needs to worry. Garnet struggling with this, and with being wrong, and with her role on the team, is sort of subtle compared to Fusion-related material, but it’s very much there.
I am in agreement with some of the folks who would like to see some straight-up individual character development for Garnet when she’s not talking about fusion or focusing on being a Fusion or educating someone about fusion. I’d like to know more about her hobbies–what would she do with a day if she had one all to herself without worrying about capturing Gems or leading missions? I’d like to know more about her funny little competitive nature. I’d like to see more of those quirky behaviors come up, where she does something unexplainable because she’s just kind of a weirdo (you know, like putting Steven on her head and walking away, or drawing a picture of herself when everyone else is drawing suspect sketches, or jumping out of the van instead of telling Greg to turn the music off).
But I think it’s unrealistic to expect Garnet to be much more expressive than she is now, because she just isn’t that demonstrative and THAT is part of who she is.
She’s a pressure cooker. She keeps things inside and she resolves them internally–which is probably partially a consequence of being a conversation. Sometimes, like a pressure cooker, she can explode, and you’re going to see her truth in those moments and in a few quiet moments when she chooses to tell a story.
You’re not going to see the kinds of feelings and spoken desires you get from Steven, Amethyst, or Pearl (who all also have very different ways of expressing themselves, but at least tend to DO SO in more overt ways than Garnet does). If they kept journals: Steven would have a sketch diary and would make an effort to end even his sad entries on a happy note. Amethyst would make fun of everything and occasionally write an angry rant. Pearl would write sad poetry and shopping lists and occasional heartfelt observations. I think Garnet wouldn’t keep one. She doesn’t seem to feel comfortable with words taking her feelings up for her, and she guards what she feels closely. The fact that she doesn’t tell us things actually tells us things.
I don’t think it’s lazy writing or turning her into a one-note character to have Garnet frequently putting her life in context through the lens of Fusion.
Fusion is the reason she exists and it is, to be quite literal, who and what she is. It was a radical act that she pioneered, and it must have been amazing to become someone who could define her own life instead of going along with her ingrained Ruby or Sapphire programming. Garnet was more an individual than either of them could have been at that time in their lives, even if that sounds like a contradiction. She’s still creating that person, and still conceiving it as a radical, beautiful act just to be herself. That’s why she’s so great.
I don’t want the show to stop exploring what that means to her, and what that means to everyone around her. I’m not tired of it. I think her character can find new things to talk about, sometimes incorporating information and experience surrounding fusion, and sometimes having it be irrelevant or tangential. But just like those of us who, for example, live with a marginalized sexual identity, something that fundamental to who you are and that different from most people you know always seems to come back into relevance, sometimes when you’re not even steering the conversation.
I think some of you will know what I’m talking about when I say it does just always seem to come up, because it’s an interesting thing about you that people who aren’t like you can’t fully understand, and sometimes you want to tell everyone all the things and sometimes you just really want them to leave you alone. But it’s definitely part of your truth, and it’s something you want people to understand about you and accept about you, and you might feel a little like you’re lying if you haven’t told someone or you just let them think that important thing is not there.
Garnet’s identity is a lot like that in some ways–there’s no “Jailbreak” episode where you come out once and then you don’t ever have to do it again. Garnet keeps having to demonstrate and identify what is different about her, and it continues to be very, very relevant in her life, affecting her relationships and the way she sees the world, how she looks, what her comfort with herself is, what abilities she has, what people think of her. It’s everything. And that fact doesn’t make her lesser, nor does it oversimplify her.
I don’t know what direction the writers will take us with Garnet, but I trust that it will be something I want to know. I find her really interesting and for many reasons very personally relatable. If there’s still more to hear about fusion from her, I want to hear it all. If there’s less related stuff, I want that too.
Pearl’s been struggling toward defining herself separately from others, separately from her grief over Rose. She’s making progress. Amethyst’s been struggling toward building self-esteem and understanding her place in the world. She’s making progress. Some people say Garnet stopped being interesting once she threw out her big revelation in “Jailbreak” and then didn’t evolve from there.
I want to know what show they’re watching.
There’s been so much with her, and I’m not going to say she doesn’t struggle, but unlike the others, Garnet’s struggles aren’t about making peace with HERSELF. She probably did have that struggle when she was new, but she knows who she is now, and that she’d rather be herself than anything she was designed to be. When you have a stable self-identity and step onto that pedestal as a mentor, you can end up giving more than getting in these kinds of stories, but HER struggles seem to be with how much she can give to others without compromising herself.
She’s not self-destructive like Amethyst was, or self-sacrificing like Pearl was. But she gets punished a lot for coming out of her shell, and I think her story is largely going to be about letting others in and dealing with what it means to reach out. Garnet does seem to want connection, and I mean that as an individual. She treasures her relationships with the others, and sometimes despite her being kind of a dork with words she honestly knows the right thing to say.
To sum up, if you think Garnet’s become a one-note character, I encourage you to listen for the subtler harmonies. She’s got a really interesting duality, both subtle and blunt, and I’m here for all of it–including when it seems to contradict itself. Who isn’t a contradiction sometimes? What she’s taught us about her identity is really complex and weirdly relatable for something so alien to humans. I think it deserves at least as much attention as it’s getting.
I still agree with the people who don’t want fusion to be the center of every story about her, but I think they’re wrong if they believe that’s how it is right now. Or rather, that it’s ALL she is, or that what they’re showing us is simple and uncomplicated enough to be unworthy of further exploration. It’s just that SHE is the center of every story about her, and she is a Fusion, so that affects everything she sees and does.
When I climbed into my bed next to my drunk sister, I expected to fall right asleep. After the week I’ve had, I’m so drained that I could barely move my limbs to help clean up at least some of the mess in my apartment. The windows remained wide open for several hours while we talked and watched another movie. Annie chose one with zero romance in it whatsoever, and I am grateful for that, although the more Prim drank, the more likely she was to spout out questions or comments about Peeta and my relationship with him until all I wanted to do was sleep and not think about boys. Especially not him.
Finals week is undoubtedly one of the worst parts about being a college student. Stress levels are at an all time high as young adults try to balance studying for exams and finishing papers they’ve procrastinated on with other responsibilities such as work, getting enough sleep, and keeping their social life decently afloat. It’s a time that’s scary, challenging, and nearly impossible to escape without seriously considering the option to drop out, but what’s just as bad–if not sometimes worse–is the week that follows finals week, when professors put their red pens down after scoring their last student’s test, and begin plugging in new percentages to overall grades.
To those who are already more than passing their classes or feel confident in their study techniques, this week might not faze them at all. They don’t have to endure the dreadful anticipation that comes with the process of logging into their accounts and waiting impatiently for page after page to load until they’re met with either good or bad news; they know that they’ll be fine, that their GPA won’t suffer. You were actually one of those students back when you were easily making straight As with your knack for school and impressive self discipline, but you know all too well that this last semester has gone quite differently than any before.
A/N:based on cry baby by demi lovato & another idea I had ; idk, this isn’t requested, i just got kinda bored since i can’t sleep & did this so like it, or don’t (though it’d mean a ton if you’d like it) hmu in my asks & gimme feedback, it’s greatly appreciated! let me know if i should do the part two that i’m planning x
Friends. That’s what they are. That’s what they pretend to be anyways, but did friends really do this? Did they really see the parts you were even afraid to see yourself sometimes? Did their lips always touch skin that regular eyes won’t behold at first glance? That’s the type of friends they are.
Hands. Teeth. Grinding hips and various blooming blotches of purples and pinks scattered from public eye. That’s what the last four and a half months consisted of. Neither of them could deny the thrill lurking in secrecy gave them, the adrenaline rushed in their blood every time they caught eyes. Last night was no different.
Y/N awoke the same way she did every time she found herself in Shawn’s habitation. An heavenly glow of light cast across the room, a slight chill in the air, and the best part—her favorite part—him. Snores fall from between his lightly chapped lips, his hand still wound up around Y/N like vines on trees. Even without the formal title, she was all his.
She rolls, praying her movements don’t awaken the sleeping god beside her. One of her eyes slides open, Shawn unmoved and her heart peacefully restored. “S’beautiful.” The words fall off her tongue like a well-kept secret. She doesn’t know that he hears, that he’s been awake since the moment she began to move and he’s going to bask in that for a couple more moments. Her fingers trace the delicate crevices of his face. That’s when he chooses to press his cheek against her cascading fingers and press a kiss to her palm. “M’thinking that’s you.”
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader Featuring: Cooper, Lila, and Nathaniel Barton Rating: Teens and Up Summary: Reader and Steve find a quiet moment together while they babysit Clint’s children. Word Count: 1.2k Genre: Fluff! Warnings: Steve being a dork and it’s set before Captain America: Civil War. A massive thank you to @punkrockhippiefromthefourties for helping me.
Ah, Clint’s homestead. Something every superhero alive in this world would love to have. A stable home. A real home, with your own bed that wasn’t going to crack under another attack. A real home where you could have a nice warm shower that wouldn’t be interrupted because you were needed to save lives again. Feeling free, no duties and just a happy family to live with, that was what you aspired to get once in your lifetime.
Babysitting the kids was another story. Your friend Laura had asked you to watch after her three children while she would enjoy a date with her husband in town. You couldn’t say no, Clint was away most of the time in the year and you knew they needed romantic moments together because you felt yourself living the same story with your boyfriend Steve.
Steve. Watching after two kids and a baby wasn’t an easy task for the super soldier. Even if he was a great tactician in the field, changing a diaper or feeding Cooper, Lila and Nathaniel wasn’t the same thing and had been ridiculously difficult for him.
