where do this girl get her books

#that’s a smart girl tactic for ‘don’t mess with me bitch’

Marley Dias is like a lot of 11-year-olds: She loves getting lost in a book.

But the books she was reading at school were starting to get on her nerves. She enjoyed Where The Red Fern Grows and the Shiloh series, but those classics, found in so many elementary school classrooms, “were all about white boys or dogs … or white boys and their dogs,” Marley says.

Black girls, like Marley, were almost never the main character.

Last fall, Marley decided to do something about it. She set a goal of collecting 1,000 books about black girls by the beginning of February, and #1000blackgirlbooks was born.

She has far exceeded her goal, with almost 4,000 books and counting. Now, she wants to set up a black girl book club and pressure school districts to change what books are assigned to students. Morning Edition’s David Greene spoke with Marley about her campaign and how she’s handled her success.

The Girl Made of Starlight

Beast!Adam x Reader

Prompt: What do you think of an imagine where the reader is Adam’s favorite character in a book, who he asks to see in the mirror at least once a day, slowly falling in love with her?

Note: Aaaaaaaah! <3 C U T E

Edit: I think I’m going to make this into a series? Someone please give me feedback? Thanks!

“It’s getting late, my little prince.” The kind queen chided her son as he sat upright in the bed. “I’m afraid it’s time for you to sleep now.”

“One more story! Please!” The young boy begged eagerly. After thinking for a long moment, the queen met the prince’s gaze. His eyes were sweet and blue, full on innocence. She sighed.

“All right, one more. And then, you must sleep. You have a big day ahead, you know.” Her smile was soft as she searched the small shelf in Adam’s room. What was there here that she hadn’t read to him yet? And then she found it.

It was an old book. One she hadn’t laid eyes on since she was at least a teenager. It had been a favorite of hers. The Girl Made of Starlight.

“Here’s one.” The queen sat down in the chair beside Adam’s bed. “I haven’t seen this book in a very long time.”

“Where was it?”

“Hiding, I suppose. Waiting for the right moment to make itself known. But nevertheless, the sooner we finish, the sooner you’ll be asleep.” She took a breath and opened the front cover. “Once, in the Kingdom of the Sun, there was a girl. To everyone around her, she appeared ordinary, boring and quaint. And as she grew up surrounded people who thought of her as nothing but standard, she began to believe that ordinary was all she ever was, all she could ever be. But that was not the case.”

“What was she?” Adam practically bounced with enthusiasm.

“Eager tonight, are we?” the queen smiled. “(Y/N) was truly more than just the daughter of the miller. She was a child of the stars.”

After reading a large portion of the book, the queen decided that it was getting far too late for her little prince to be awake given the events waiting for him the following day. So, despite his many, many protests, the queen placed a bookmark in her treasured favorite and put it on the shelf for another night.

But the queen never got to finish her story.

She soon fell to illness and became too sick to read. Soon after, she was gone. And as the kingdom grieved, the king became twisted. Her death was the end of him. And so was it the end of the Adam that was hopeful, the Adam that was kind.

Years later, when Adam had reached adulthood, came the curse that twisted him into an enormous, fearsome beast. The story of the star girl was long-forgotten. Adam spent years in isolation, wallowing in his misery. His selfishness had done this, his vanity. He had taken so much pride in his looks, in the beauty of the things he owned, and now that it was gone, he felt as though he had nothing.

As time passed, Adam ventured from his West Wing more and more. He didn’t want to gaze upon the cursed rose any more than he had to. It was only a reminder of his mistakes, of the grim deadline that hung over his head. The library became a refuge, a place where he could escape. The book the Enchantress had given him sat idle on his shelf, and instead, he found a home in literature. As he searched the shelf, something fell and hit the floor with a soft thud. He looked down, and there it was: The Girl Made of Starlight.

Adam slowly bent down and picked up the book with his massive paws. He brushed off the cover, and his blue eyes widened. Thoughts of his mother came rushing back to the surface. He was tempted to put the book back, to forget he had ever found it, but instead, he carried it over to the couch and began to read it.

Inside the pages of the book waited the story of (Y/N), the miller’s daughter, who was just about to discover she was not as normal as she had been raised to believe.

~Losing her mother had changed (Y/N). Every day, the glimmering star that hung around her neck only served as a reminder of the magnificent woman that had left her daughter behind. Her mother’s words were ingrained in her mind. With her last dying breaths, she had put the necklace around (Y/N)’s neck.

“Remember that there is light in everybody.” Her lips pulled into a frail smile as her husband and daughter sat beside her in tears. “And there is light in you. You don’t know it yet, but you will. No matter where you go, no matter how far you travel, I will always be with you.”

Iridessa squeezed (Y/N)’s hand as the life in her began to fade.

“You are a child of the stars. A beautiful girl with more power than you know.” She pressed a finger to the center of her chest and whispered a final goodbye as the life left her eyes. “I believe in you.”~

Adam took a deep breath and adjusted himself on the soft couch that sat beside the hearth. He had a feeling he would be there for a while.

Over the course of the week Adam had read the book at least twice a day, only taking brief breaks for meals and sleep. He was a man obsessed. He didn’t know why, but of all of the books in the library, this one had captured his attention better than anything he had ever read.

After finishing it for the tenth time, a strange idea occurred to him as he brushed past the enchanted rose that had doomed him to this fate, the wretched timer, an eternal reminder that his day was coming. Then, he would be stuck like this forever. Beside the rose sat the Enchantress’ mirror. The moment his eyes settled on it, he reached out for it.

He took a deep breath. This was stupid. This was a dumb idea. It would never work.

But what if?

“Show me…show me the girl made of starlight.”

The surface of the mirror rippled, and then there she was, just as the book had described. Her hair had flooded with white, and her silver eyes shone like stars. Her cloak of the sky was wrapped around her shoulders, and the necklace her mother had given her hung around her neck.

She was running. From what, he didn’t know, but at the sight of her, after watching her and realizing she was real…or at least, she was real somewhere, he almost dropped the mirror. He took a long, labored breath. She was real. She was actually real. And she needed help.

Days passed. Adam tried not to watch her too often, but it was hard not to. She was real. She existed, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that there was someone or something after her. She always seemed to be rushed. She had quick meals in little taverns, and took cautious sleeps at haphazard inns. She carried very little and showed her face to very few, most often keeping hidden in her large cloak of the sky.

With her, she kept very few things. Aside from her cloak and necklace, all she had with her was a map, a worn leather book of stories, and a pouch of coins. There was something about the book with her. Adam knew it was important to her, but he didn’t know why.

Perhaps it was why someone was chasing her.

Again, I kind of want to do a series on this, so feedback would be awesome. I love you guys <3

i want someone to write a book where the strong female character is a feminine lesbian with a million guy friends that have never once thought about being with her and that the girl doesn’t own combat boots or leather jackets because it doesn’t match her badass pastel aesthetic

i want someone to write a book where the male lead doesn’t even want to be part of the story and he just constantly tries to get someone else to do the job so his life doesn’t get ruined but he’s also a massive sweetheart that loves baking cookies and sliding on wooden floors with his socks on

i want someone to write a book where the strong female character (mentioned above) uses nail polish remover or hairspray to blind the antagonist so she can save her friends

i want someone to write a book where the main character is supposed to be the love interest but wants nothing to do with the person they’re supposed to fall in love with and instead they just become best friends and do stupid shit together

i want someone to write a book where the wise old man trope character is actually proven completely wrong and clinically insane so all the other characters have to find an entirely new way to defeat the antagonist because “hey, this sword is made out of foam!” or because “hey, i’m not part of this prophecy at all! it’s actually you, jerry!”

i want someone to write a book where the gay protagonist is nowhere near a gay stereotype. if it’s a guy, he has the thickest beard you’ve ever seen instead of being clean-shaven, he has a doughy stomach or even a really big one instead of being stick thin, etc. if it’s a girl, she’s basically the girl mentioned above

i want someone to write a book where the protagonist is insanely asexual/aromantic/both so if the love interest makes a move on them they’re like “ha, no thanks i’d rather watch stand up comedy”

request: Hi! I love your work would you be a able to write an archie x nerdy sarcastic girl type imagine please :D maybe where the girl gets into a fight with some popular girls but doesn’t take any of their crap

“It seems you forgot the deal we had,” Stephanie, a popular cheerleader and one of Cheryl’s so-called best friends, crossed her arms in front of you. You were sitting on the bleachers outside while your boyfriend Archie had football practice, reading an old classic British novel.

You sighed, wedging Archie’s guitar pick he gave to you between the pages as a bookmark, closing the book and looking up at her. “I’m sorry, your royal highness, I do not recall signing a contract.”

Stephanie narrowed her eyes. “You know what I mean. You break up with Archie, I won’t tell everyone where you went last summer.”

You squinted your eyes back for a moment, trying to remember what she was talking about, until it hit you. You laughed. “Oh, that! Right.” Really, you only agreed at the time to shut her up. You didn’t ever see yourself breaking up with Archie for any reason.

“It’s not funny!” Stephanie grabbed your shirt, pulling you so you were standing up.

“Woah, woah, okay, calm down!” You grabbed her hands, moving them off your shirt, but now she was standing tall in front of you, chin up, ready to start something.

“What’s going on here?” Archie ran over to you two, moving to stand between you and Stephanie, until you put out your hand, holding him aside.

“It’s fine. Hey, Archie, do you know what I did last summer?” You asked, raising your eyebrows.

“Um… visited your grandma… went to Comic-con?” Archie recalled perfectly, confused.

You grinned widely, turning to Stephanie. “That’s exactly right!”

Stephanie crossed her arms again. “Ugh! That’s so stupid, how could you not be embarrassed of that!”

You threw your arms up in exasperation. “God, you’re right! I’m so embarrassed of meeting Chris Evans, especially when I got a picture of him hugging me. So awful.” You shook your head.

Stephanie growled angrily, “If you won’t do it, I’ll make it happen.”

You grew serious for a moment, fearing whatever scheme she would create, and gulped. “Don’t you dare.”

“Oh yeah.” She smirked, before turning to your boyfriend. “Hey, Archie, did you know that—“

“Actually, you know what? No. I’m not going through this. I’m not going to break up with him no matter what idiotic thing you try to threaten me with, or whatever childish, shallow stunt you try to pull. I’m not falling for it, and neither is he.” You dictated.

Archie nodded, now understanding what this was all about. “Yeah.”

“And, let’s face it, the only reason you want to date him anyway is because it would make you look good. The only reason you want to date him has nothing to do with him, or love, or even basic infatuation, and everything to do with materialistic objectification.” You smiled and spoke in a cheery tone, mimicking her peppy cheerleader voice as if you weren’t just ripping her to pieces, but your tone went dark when you finished. “So you know what? I take back what I said. Try to do something, I dare you.”

Stephanie didn’t say a word, only looked to you, to Archie, and then left. She knew that since you revealed her for who she really was to him just now— There wasn’t any way he would want date her even if by some ridiculous circumstance, the two of you did break up.

Archie didn’t say a word either, only put an arm around your shoulder, pulling you close to him, and kissing your temple long and hard before he had to go back to practice.

He felt comfort and pride in knowing you could take care of yourself. He let you go and ran back out to the field. You smiled, sat down, and continued reading.

For @the-mormon-girl-in-the-books…enjoy!

Y/N softly chuckled as she walked with Master Yoda. Even though she normally looked after the Younglings, she had to check in with him every so often. Thankfully, the Jedi was able to get someone to cover for her while they had the meeting. Having just finished, Master Yoda was walking her back to the garden, where the Younglings would be by this time.

“Are you sure you’re only a Master Jedi?” she teased.
He chuckled. “Suppose I am not do you?”
She smirked. “Sometimes you seem to fit better in the role of a trickster.”

Yoda laughed again, a bit louder this time. The pair slowed down as they reached the Temple Garden. Y/N couldn’t help the smile that grew on her face when she caught sight of Obi Wan.

The Jedi was gleefully playing with the Younglings. One of them, Ju Fae, was clinging to his neck while he gave her a piggyback ride. Y/N covered her mouth as she snickered when he started to stomp around like a Bantha. The remaining Younglings were giggling and screaming. Some attempted to attach themselves to Obi Wan’s legs.

“Help him, you must,” Yoda told her with a teasing tone.

She chuckled and nodded. Yoda smirked to himself before leaving. Y/N crossed her arms and walked closer to the kids and Jedi.

“Don’t tell me you’re stealing my charges, Master Jedi?” she quipped.
Obi Wan glanced up. He sent her his breathtaking smile.
“Ms. Y/N,” a young boy, Tiron, yelled as he yelled over to her.

Chuckling, she swung the boy in the air before settling him on her hip. Obi Wan limped over, children still attached to him. Y/N smiled, holding out her free arm.

“Come on, Ju Fae,” she cooed, “Let’s allow the Jedi some mobility.”

Giggling, she climbed over to Y/N. Obi Wan let out a playful roar while spreading out his arms. Y/N and the Younglings chuckled. An aide entered the garden. Y/N smiled at him.

“Hey, Hunter. Would you mind taking them for lunch? I’ll be right in.”
He nodded. “Sure thing, Y/N.”

Hunter immediately corralled the kids and started walking back inside. Y/N slightly bit her lip before looking around. She held back a smirk when she noticed it was empty. She returned her gaze to Obi Wan, beaming.

“I didn’t realize how good you were with Younglings,” she commented lightly.
He raised a brow. “Does that surprise you?”
She giggled, wrapping her arms around his waist. “You know, it really doesn’t.”

Gently, he pushed some hair out of her face. He smoothly rubbed his thumb against her cheek. With a sudden urge, Y/N leaned up and gave Obi Wan a chaste kiss. His eyes fluttered in surprise. The two weren’t exactly dating, but they weren’t friends either. And they’d never kissed before. Y/N pulled back with a slight blush.

“I, uh, I’m sorry,” she apologized, “I couldn’t help it.”

Without responding, Obi Wan pulled her, by her chin, until their lips met again. Though it was slightly longer, and more intimate, than the first, it was still brief. Y/N’s eyes fluttered open, only making the man smirk.

“I think you should get back to the Younglings,” Obi Wan teased.
Y/N chuckled, snapping out of her mini stupor. “And you to training that wily padawan of yours.”

Obi Wan smiled as he watched the woman step back into the Temple. She gave him one last smile before disappearing down the hall. The Jedi allowed himself a brief moment to reflect on the woman he had fallen in love with.

I couldn’t feel anything anymore. Well that wasn’t true, not exactly, I was numb. Not the kind of numb you feel when your depression hits you so badly breathing is an effort. No, no, the kind where you’re just blank. When you stare off and get so upset that you can’t feel anything, but all you want to do is feel. The numbness hits you worst when you’ve got the girl you adore talking to you and all you can think of is how boring you are. Then you think, she’s going to love you whether you talk about the books she loves or your deadly feelings, having a dry conversation every once in a while won’t kill you both. Resting should help but there’s no promises of it. So you tell her you’ll sleep it off and take some time for yourself. You will be okay.

Okay, so I’ve seen quite a few concerns over what occurred in the most recent episode, where Star attempts to get Glossaryck back. I’ve seen some anger  and mixed feelings over his refusal to not come back with Star, and I can understand that - but just hear me out over what I have in mind.

Stiles x Reader

Requested By Anon

“Do you know what she said, she said let Stilinski talk, he knows more than google.” Stiles snapped as he rambled on.

“Stiles you do always correct her.” Scott muttered and adjusted his straps.

“Yeah and I wouldn’t do that if she wasn’t always wrong.” Stiles waved his arms about and glowered at where you were sat reading.

“But she isn’t always wrong that’s what she gets so annoyed about.” Scott smiled at you and let out a sigh as you caught onto what Stiles was saying and slammed your book shut.

I remember reading “Thirteen Reasons Why” like ten years ago and being really irked about parts of it and now that I’m watching the show I’m starting to feel the same way. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I think it has something to do with this manic pixie dream girl character using her suicide as a manipulation tool to make everyone else feel bad while also idolizing her at the same time.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s intriguing and well-done (both the book and the tv show), but I hate how selfish Hannah is for using her death, essentially, to “get back” at people. Yes, bad things happened to her, but bad things happen to everyone and most people don’t turn around and say “you’re the one who killed me” when they in fact killed themselves.

Like, there’s the part where Hannah and Jessica and Alex start to drift apart from each other, which is something completely normal that happens to literally everyone at some point in their lives. But, Hannah paints this picture of “oh, you guys abandoned me and now I’m so lonely so it’s your fault if I’m self-destructive."

Maybe I’m just so mad because I’ve now been in similar situations. I had a roommate who had the same "woe is me” attitude, when in actuality she brought everything on herself and thrived on attention, positive or negative. When she didn’t come home one night and tried to kill herself, we called the police because that’s what you SHOULD do. And her response was, like Hannah, to be mad at us and say “I wish I had done it” … because we saved her life.

There’s this inherent selfishness to committing suicide, no matter how depressed someone is. I’m afraid “Thirteen Reasons Why” glorifies this selfishness. Maybe each character made decisions or did things that factored into Hannah’s decision to commit suicide, but none of them were a reason why she killed herself. That’s on her and I hope viewers are able to understand the distinction.

  • Ruby: Hey Blake. Do you have a minute? *Ruby asked as she walked into Blake's cabin within the airship they used to travel to Patch.*
  • Blake: *Blake looked up from her book at Ruby and set the book down.* Sure. What's on your mind?
  • Ruby: *The hooded girl walked in right to the chair across from the bed where her friend sat, taking a seat as she claps her hands together and takes a deep breath through her nose.* ... I'll get straight to the point. *Ruby said pointing at Blake after a moment of silence.* You are in love with my sister right?
  • Blake: *At this the cat Faunus's ears short straight up.* E-Excuse me?
  • Ruby: My sister. You. In love with her. Correct? *Ruby phrased.*
  • Blake: *Blake stared at the younger huntress who stared unblinking at her.* I... What brought this up?
  • Ruby: Blake, It has been nearly a year, A YEAR, since we last saw each other and after we all got back together you haven't been about to take your eyes off her. *Ruby said bluntly.* Even after you told us all why you left, you kept looking at Yang.
  • Blake: *At first Blake's nervousness grow at the fact Ruby has taken notice to her inability to keep her eyes off of her sister, worried that it meant Yang surely noticed as well, until she pushed those thoughts away and thought it be best to create a small lie.* Ruby. I was looking at her arm. I know I shouldn't have but I just couldn't help but feel awful about what happened to her bec- *Blake started, knowing that it was partly true due to the heart break and guilt she felt when she first saw the robotic arm. Unfortunately, Ruby instantly called her bluff.*
  • Ruby: Uh-huh. Because we all know Arms come in different colors and are in our head. How else do we see? Oh wait those are our eyes. *Ruby sarcastically claimed, rolling her eyes while Blake frowned at being caught in the lie.* Sigh. Blake. I'm not judging you. It's okay if you do love Yang. Heck, I would be really happy I may get another sister if you do.
  • Blake: You... You would? *Blake questioned with some surprise.*
  • Ruby: Yeah. Of course. *Ruby smiled happily.* Why?
  • Blake: Well I mean, I'm... You know. *Blake muttered as she wiggled her ears.*
  • Ruby: What? Because you're a girl too? Come on Blake you know me and Yang.
  • Blake: No Ruby. I'm talking ab-wait what? *Blake stopped mid-sentence as she was once again surprised by her team leader.* You and Yang are... gay?
  • Ruby: Yeah. Well, I am. Yang is bi. *Ruby said slightly blushing.*
  • Blake: Heh, Looks like me and Yang have more in common then I thought. *Blake fought the urge to smile at the new information he learned about her partner, wishing she knew sooner but shook her head.* Anyway, what I meant before was because I'm a faunus.
  • Ruby: Blake. You being a faunus doesn't matter to any of us. In fact, I'm going to let you in on a secret only if you answer my question about how you feel about Yang and promise me something.
  • Blake: What promise?
  • Ruby: *Ruby stood up from the chair and moved next to Blake.* Promise me that you will never leave us, leave Yang, again. That you'll come to us and let us help and protect you, no matter what. *Ruby then wrapped her arms around Blake to pull her into a hug.* We are family, Blake. We love you just as much as you love us. One of us even more. *she whispered that last bit.*
  • Blake: . *Blake smiled as she returned the hug and after a few seconds spoke softly.* I promise... and yes.
  • Ruby: Glad to hear and to have you back Blake... Just know that if you break Yang's heart I will never forget you.
  • Blake: Hehe, Glad to be back Ruby. And Trust me, I will never leave her or any of you again. *Blake said, Watching Ruby smile then rise from the bed and headed towards the door.* Wait Ruby. What's the secret?
  • Ruby: *She paused at the doorway and looked back over her shoulder with a teasing smile.* Yang Reeeeeeally loves your cat ears. *That said Ruby disappear with a trail of rose petals leaving a blushing Blake alone with her thoughts.*
Barnes’ Books - chapter 6

Not gonna lie, this chapter is disappointing. I’m sorry. No matter what, I couldn’t get it to flow, it’s all disjointed and I hate it :/

I have a plan for the next chapter (when Bucky’s fiancee should appear) but I don’t blame you if you give up after this one. I’m sorry I suck.

Barnes’ Books masterlist

I definitely felt different as I walked out of the hospital. I always tried to be a positive person, although the last few months had really got me down, but I liked to see the good in people.  Knowing that Bucky had seen my picture, and cared enough to think James would like it, that made me feel warm inside. Sure, Bucky was a bit of an ass, but he made his granddad smile, and that did endear me to him.

Yeah, I’ll admit there was a bit of vanity in there too. Hearing ‘you have talent’ was nice. And yes, OK, you win. Bucky was pretty good looking, fine, yes. So knowing he’d mentioned me was a bit of a boost. I’d been dumped! It was nice to be on someone’s radar, even if a little voice in my head was whispering ‘he probably said ‘that crazy cat hair woman who hangs around drew this’…’ Whatever it was, I felt more positive than I had done for a while. I’d wallowed for a while, and while knew the positivity wouldn’t last, I had to make hay while the sun shines and all that. Not that it was, shining that is. Rain again. But that was OK. I splashed back from the hospital to my flat, and decided to take stock.

Chapter Seven: Lonely

Word Count: 2640

☏ ☏ ☏ ☏

Riley Matthews may be considered a chump to many but she’s clever when it comes to hiding her feelings from her loved ones. In the months that have passed since Riley’s first day of school she has been living two lives. One, the version of reality she shares with her parents each evening when she returns from school, similar stories told to her friends back in New York and two, the truth.

Riley’s first day of school; the story told to her parents.

Nerve wracking of course, new school, new people but overall she’s positive about it. The people are nice and welcoming, her teachers are helpful and the whole experience was one she rambled on and on about. The brunette spins a similar story to Lucas when he calls her that evening.

Riley wasn’t exactly sure why she lied to them. Part of her felt embarrassed about the truth. Without seeming conceded, Riley partially thought that she’d be big news at the school, being a new student and American but things didn’t exactly go as she imagined.

Warning: Nothing but fluff.

Summary: A trip to Los Angeles is going amazing for Y/N, until she’s too entranced by nature, breaks a bone, and there’s seemingly no one to help her.

Grayson’s POV

I sat across from Ethan, as he was enthusiastically telling me a story about how he fell down a flight of stairs and got a sick scratch from it. Normally, I’d be excited. Normally

We sat in this cafe, a random one Ethan happened to find with aesthetically pleasing decor, so we decided on breakfast here. In my line of sight, just behind him, a girl sat by herself. I held my breath slightly, a wave of warmth flashing through me and I felt nervous. All I’m doing is looking at her. Her hair shining as the sunlight caught it perfectly. She was engrossed in her book, I could see from here, Pride & Prejudice.

“Are you even listening?! Hello– Oohh…"

anonymous asked:

Hi! Do you know any books about a girl who is questioning her sexuality? One where it could get deep into what she's feeling and could make the reader relate to the character?

Yep! Ask the Passengers by AS King is a good one to start with, as is Tell Me Again How a Crush Should Feel by Sara Farizan, and I think you might have to buy it off the author’s website at this point, but I like The Sky Always Hears Me But the Hills Don’t Mind by Kirstin Cronn-Mills too. People have very mixed (often negative) feelings about the bi rep in Look Both Ways by Alison Cherry, but I personally like the questioning aspect of it. Our Own Private Universe by Robin Talley is in a similar vein, i.e. a girl is already sure she’s attracted to guys, but is trying to confirm whether she’s also attracted to girls. And finally, Unbecoming by Jenny Downham and my Under the Lights are both dual-POV with one POV belonging to a girl questioning her sexuality who ultimately come to realize their homosexuality. I’d say those are probably the ones that most deeply center around identity pre- and during labeling (or opting not to).

“Who’s Gavin?”

“What?” You turned around, books resting in your hand. You were in the library with Sam and Dean. Currently in the process of putting up books, until Dean asked that question.

“Who’s Gavin?” Dean asked more strictly. He held up your phone.

It showed a message reading: Sure, babe. - Gavin

You squeezed your books tight, getting nervous. Your brothers stared you down and you had no other excuse.

“My boyfriend.” You said it as bravely as you could, but it was kind of difficult when being stared down.

“Boyfriend. I don’t think so. You know the rule, (Y/N), no relationships.” Dean put your phone back down and crossed him arms.

“Come on, he’s really sweet. You can meet him!” You set the bold on the table and grabbed your phone. “I can tell him to come over!”

Dean didn’t say anything, just looked at you, before looking back at Sam. Sam gave a shrug and Dean sighed.

“Fine. We meet the guy and if he’s okay, then you can keep dating, I guess.” Dean huffed. He wasn’t fond of you dating, neither was Sam, but Sam wasn’t near as bad about it as your oldest brother.

“He’s late!” Dean pointed at his watch. Gavin was suppose to be here at 6 PM.

“Dean, it’s been two minutes.” Sam rolled his eyes. You sighed and just as you opened your mouth, a knock on the door echoed through the bunker.

“He’s here!” You jumped up and headed for the door, only for Dean to grab your arm and pull you back.

“I’ll get it.” Dean growled, heading for the door. You turned towards Sam. He walked over to you.

“As long as he treats you right, he’ll be okay.” Sam wrapped an arm around you. You nodded and the both of you began walking towards Dean.

It was going good so far, Gavin was the gentleman. Other than the occasional daggers Dean sent his way, Sam seemed to like him.

“So, Gavin, how’d you and (Y/N) meet?” Dean asked, with an aggravated tone. You glanced at your oldest brother, you couldn’t really be mad, he was just really looking out for you.

“Some dude was trying to hit on her, when she clearly wasn’t interested, and I was going to step in and tell him off myself, but she beat me to it!” Gavin looked over to you, a smile on his face. You smiled back, still remembering the incident.

You picked up the items your brothers had requested, pie for Dean, fruit for Sam, and candy for yourself. You set down the small basket you had and leaned down to get something off of the bottom shelf.

“Hey, baby! Come over to my place and you can bend down like that anytime!” A voice shouted out. You stood back up and saw some boy in saggy pants, an oversized jacket, and cap.

“No thanks.” You said, turning back and returning to your things.

“Aww, come one, babe! We can have a lot of fun! What do ya say?” He walked closer to you and you balled you fists up. A few people began watching now, you didn’t need the whole store watching.

“Look, I said no. Now get away from me before I rip off your most prized possession.” You growled. A few woman cheered in the back, thanking you. A few others showed impressed looks.

“Man, chill, bruh. I was just kidding.” He raised his hands and walked back out of the isle. You smirked in victory and saw someone walking towards you.

You brothers shared a look, before both smirking slightly.

“She’s a good one, you guys have an awesome sister!” Gavin gave a small laugh.

“I guess we do, don’t we?” Sam looked back at you. You gave the best bow you could, while sitting down.

“Why thank you.” You all gave a laugh.

You had talked for so long, and Gavin was doing wonderful, at least, that’s what you thought.

“Well, kid. You’re actually not that bad.” Dean said, and you could believe it. You looked at him with wide eyes.

“Well, I’m honored that you’ll let me keep on dating (Y/N),” He smiled and killed at his watch. “It’s getting late, I should get home.”

“I’ll walk you out.” You said and followed him to the door. Once you were out of sight of your brothers, he gave you a small hug.

“I enjoyed this.” He smiled.

“Me too. I’m so sorry about my brothers, though.” You apologized. They could be a handful.

“Don’t be sorry, they’re just looking out for you.” He said.

“Yeah, I guess so,” You laughed. Gavin stared at you. “What?”

“How did I get lucky as to get you?” He smiled. You felt your face flush. Before you knew it, you both were leaning in.

“Hey! I didn’t say anything about kissing!” Dean yelled. You and Gavin let out a laugh.

an leabharlann | finn shelby imagine

thank you to anon for getting me going on this one

Finn had been chain smoking on the library steps for God knows how long. The falling ash had started to form a pattern around him like early snowfall and the cold had long taken residence in his bones. But he still hadn’t worked up the balls to walk through the bright blue doors.

He stood shuffling on the stone landing, peering around, to the door, to the street. A copper walked past on his beat and looked him over, probably wondering what Finn bloody Shelby was doing shifting around the library of all places. That was enough to tip him over.

Raw Meat

Theodore Not x Luna Lovegood headcanons

I’ve been missing my darlings, so here’s something I’ve been using as the base of a fanfic I’m working on…

  • Theodore has a favorite spot by the lake where he enjoys reading
  • In her fourth year, Luna is constantly exploring the castle grounds
  • As a new prefect Theodore finds her in various odd places, never really paying attention to what she’s doing before telling her to stop
  • Just before the weather becomes frigid, Theodore finds the lithe blonde in his favorite reading spot
  • His complaints die in his throat as he sees what is in her hands and all around her
  • “Is… Is that raw meat?”
  • Luna looks up, surprised to no longer be alone. “Oh, yes.”
  • Her eyes are bright, and Theodore notices she doesn’t have  a cloak despite the nip in the air
  • There’s a moment’s silence in which Luna continues to gather the raw meat together in a small pile
  • After blinking a few time, Theodore clears his throat, his book forgotten
  • “Erm… Where exactly did you get raw meat?” He takes a step towards her. “And why do you have it?”
  • Luna doesn’t look up from her work as she answers, “Oh, the elves in the kitchens are always kind enough to lend me anything I request. They really are darling creatures. Under appreciated by most, I would say.”
  • The meat makes a glop sound as she tosses another hunk onto the pile
  • Recovering from his initial shock, Theodore looks closer at the girl in front of him
  • “You’re that Ravenclaw girl who’s been snooping around the castle.”
  • Luna’s hands pause, a chunk of red slumping in her palm. “Snooping… Can one snoop in the place they live? I suppose they could, and the castle is quite large. I suppose, yes.” She tosses the lump of meat onto the pile, a smile in her voice. “I have been ‘snooping’.”
  • Theodore presses his lips together. This girl was odd, but not in an off putting way. In fact, he felt himself intrigued, curious even, about her. It was rare Theodore was genuinely curious about someone. He wasn’t quite sure how to handle the situation.
  • In front of him, Luna had gathered all of her meat into a medium sized pile and was lifting it into her arms
  • Theodore had never noticed before her quaint features
  • She had a small nose and beautiful wide eyes;
  • Her pale hair was flecked with pine needles Theodore supposed were from the garlands around the castle
  • After a moment he shook himself
  • “Exactly why were you gathering meat from the ground?”
  • Luna’s swept the area, checking for any missed lumps of red
  • “Oh, some rather unkind third years found it amusing to use it as quaffles.” She shrugged, and moved to walk away
  • Theodore startled, quickly following her. “Yes, but why do you have hunks of raw meat?”
  • Luna froze, turning to him properly for the first time.
  • “For the thestrals of course.”
