when sketches look better than the lineart

anonymous asked:

can the science side of tumblr explain why sketches always look better than the lineart D:

Sketches are more organic and they flow easier from your body and mind, whereas with lineart you’re more focused, your strokes are tighter and less organic, and generally everything is stiffer. Every mistake is heightened and made more potent by the assumed need to make lineart perfect, when really it doesn’t have to be - unless it’s for a commission or assignment etc and the criteria deems clean lineart necessary. Lineart is never as fun as sketching because it inspires and invites less freedom of expression and movement.
