What’s up, dock shrimp? Dock shrimp babies have been spotted throughout the Monterey Bay. Males at birth, they’ll eventually become females, large and in charge on the rocky reef. You can see them for yourself in our Crevice Dwellers gallery!
Shrimpressive story time! A long time ago, at the end of a summer class, scientists at Rosario Beach Marine Lab closed up shop for the year. Unbeknownst to them, in a tank left with only a bit of silt and water, was a stealth dock shrimp larva, biding its time. One year later, when lab staff turned on the lights, they discovered a six-inch shrimp hanging out in the dark room—apparently ready to audit the class. Nothing is shrimpossible!
