whatever favorite film of all time

Admin Post: Updates from April 16 to May 31

Hello, darlings!

Here we are again, with the updates including all the wonderful stories submitted by our very talented writers during the last few weeks.

What better way to pass the time while our boy is away filming IW  vacationing on a desert island  playing golf in Scotland  cooking bolognese for all his fans  doing whatever makes him happy, than to read or re-read some of your favorites?

This month we have the return of a beloved author (hi, @winterheart17! We’ve missed you lots!), and also several other one-shots and chapters that we hope will make our readers very happy.

Enjoy, and don’t forget to send all your love to the authors!

A/N:  this is my first writing something like this. .. not sure how  I feel about it …

The look of disappointment was evident on your face and there was no denying it. Just a few minutes ago you were excitedly waiting for JIntae to get home any minute.. You had cut some fruit for him just in case he wanted to snack on something when he got home. You put some soju and beer in the fridge for him too. Jintae had been so busy lately and you were missing him like crazy, even though he would text you everyday and call you when he had time. It was still not the same as being face-to-face. You knew he would most likely be tired from a long day of filming and being at his company studio, which is why you planned something simple for today. A simple movie night date with Jintae, you didn’t care for something over the top and he wasn’t the type either. All you really wanted was to cuddle with Jintae. You were in your living room going through the options on netflix.

You heard your phone notify you of a new message on Kakao talk, you check your phone, a message from Jintae. You quickly open it.

“Sorry filming is being extended for today. I’ll be home late.“

“It’s ok. Around when will you be home?” - you texted him back hoping it’d only be an hour or two hopefully, like last time.

He answers almost as soon as he received your message meaning he must be on a short break from filming.

“I’m really not sure how long, it could be a long time. Sorry. Don’t wait up for me.” -

you read it as your kakaotalk app was opened on the conversation.

Jintae noticed you had read his message as the the “1” next to his message had disappeared giving away you had seen his message and decided not to reply.

He let out a long sigh seeing you didn’t reply after that,he knew you were probably upset. He knows you are a patient person, but he could tell your patience was running low.

“What’s wrong hyung!” San E’s loud voice surprised Jintae as he quickly put away his phone in his pocket.

“Oh come on hyung~ what are you trying to hide? I already saw” San E said teasingly.

Jintae just arched an eyebrow at him, he wasn’t the type to say much he didn’t need to, but he got the point across to him…“Oh come on hyung don’t give me that look. I didn’t see your phone, I was just messing with you.”

“I know, I’m just tired.” Jintae said.

“It’s the weekend, what about turnin’ up?”

“I have plans for  tonight… I think,” Jintae replied unsure what awaits him after wrapping up today’s filming.

“We’re filming in 5 minutes!!” the pd called out.

Instead of sitting around and sulking, that Jintae wouldn’t be able to make it to your date for the second time because of his busy schedule, you decided to be productive and catch up on a few things you had to do for work, organize your bookshelf, and after that was all done you turned the tv to watch whatever drama was on tv at the moment. After a bit over two hours, a relaxing bubble bath sounded perfect to end your night. You filled the bath with water and your favorite bubble bath scent. You stripped down and entered the bath enjoying how the warm water felt on your skin as the soothing aroma put you at ease.

After you relaxed and washed up properly, you towel dried yourself before wrapping the towel around you. You strolled over to the bedroom and made your way over to Jintae’s drawers looking for something comfortable to sleep in, surely he wouldn’t mind. After all he probably won’t even know, it doesn’t seem like he’ll have time to come home to sleep, so there was no point in you dressing up in nice sleepwear. You found the perfect piece, a white cotton shirt with a slight v-neck cut. Jintae’s scent still lingering on the shirt, you unwrapped your towel and slipped on his shirt. The shirt covering about an inch or two below your bottom. You did your nightly routine of moisturizing your skin, once done with that you towel dried your hair a bit more. You were just about to slip into the comfort of your soft bed covers, but you had just came to realize you forgot to water the small plants you had on your kitchen counter. You’d really hate if they were to dry up, you entered the kitchen with your phone in hand as you searched for a song to play in the still quiet of your apartment. You picked a favorite,  “Zzom” by Ven started to stream and you hummed along to the sensual song as you took a damp cloth and cleaned off the leaves of the plants.

Let It Snow (Warren Worthington III x Reader)

A warm and fluffy Christmas morning full of surprises with the Gri- I mean, everyone’s favorite angel. :)

Word Count: 2092

“What the hell-”

“-Welcome to my little winter wonderland!” I cheered, pulling Warren inside my apartment. “Took you long enough.” My roommate went home for the holidays, leaving me all alone to celebrate. We’d decorated the place from ceiling to floor and before she left, exchanged gifts; I got a ticket to go see one of my favorite artists speak at a nearby college next month, a couple rolls of film, and a gift card to Wilson’s Art for whatever supplies $50 could buy. “Make yourself comfortable.”

“What the hell is that?” He pointed to the corner of the living room to the scrawny branch that was our Christmas tree.

“I could never get off from work or outta classes in time to go pick a decent tree; it was slim pickings when I finally got around to it.” I jabbed him playfully in his side. “Wanna go climb up and sit on top of it, Angel?”

“Ha ha,” he replied sarcastically with an eyeroll. “Where’d you pick it up from, the city landfill?”

“Shut up, I love my little tree! Besides, big or small, it’s about what goes under it that’s important; Santa doesn’t discriminate.”

“Yes. Speaking of which come help me finish baking these cookies.”

“You’re not serious… are you?”

I pointed to my “Kiss the Cook” apron in its flour-coated glory before dashing back off to the kitchen. “Hope you aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty.”

okay, but legendsfam + movie night

  • It all starts because of Jax (what a cutie pie).  He used to have movie nights every Friday with his mom, and sometimes with his football team.  Some of those memories are a little bittersweet now, but he still carries that association and that makes it feel weird for him to be on a team and not have movie nights.
  • Jax recruits Ray and Kendra first, because he figures that out of the rest of the crew, they’re the most likely to agree to the idea.  Much to his surprise, not only do they agree, but they’re as enthusiastic about the idea as he is.  Kendra is a big sucker for Bonding Activities (she probably tries to arrange those little ‘get to know you’ games during dinner, like “wow guys, it’s awfully quiet.  I have an idea! Let’s all share something about ourselves–”), and Ray loves anything that gives him a chance to cuddle or marathon TV and movies, so of course, he is so excited.
  • Sara overhears them discussing it and inserts herself into the conversation.  She highkey is in love with the idea–like Jax, she used to do movie nights too, with Laurel and Quentin, and is 100% willing to help them orchestrate their little scheme.
  • They all drag Stein into it next.  Martin is rather resistant, at first, because, well–”that’s rather pointless, isn’t it?  plus, aren’t we supposed to be focused on stopping Vandal Savage? We can’t let ourselves get distracted–”.  But Stein really is a softie at heart, and all it takes is Jax beginning to talk about how he and his mom used to do movie nights and how much he misses it for Stein to start to crack, and before he even knows it, he’s entirely complicit in their plan.
  • Convincing Snart is possibly the biggest ordeal, his initial response to the suggestion is to close the door to his quarters in their faces.  They’re forced to resort to guerrilla tactics (which is to say, having Jax reprogram Gideon to lock Snart out of his room until he agrees).  Snart grumbles a lot about it at first, but the others are pretty sure that he’s actually rather pleased to have an excuse to participate without seeming soft.
  • Mick doesn’t even take any convincing–it goes like this:
”Hey Mick, do you want to watch some movies with us?”
”…sure.” (though, the only people brave enough to sit in his personal space are Ray and Len)
  • They extend an invitation to Rip, but he doesn’t respond. so they’re not really sure if he’s going to come or not.  Much to their surprise though, as soon as the movie starts, he’s slipping into the room and settling on the floor by Sara’s feet.
  • Eventually, the movie nights do become a regular thing, which can be problematic because they all have very different opinions as to what movies they should watch
  • Ray loves fun scifi movies and thinks that the rest of the crew should too, considering that they’re–you know, time travelers.  His tastes are hardly the worst of the crews, but if he tries to make them all watch The Fifth Element again, they’re probably going to strangle him.
  • Stein likes war movies, though to his credit, he knows they’re not for everyone and doesn’t really try to push it
  • Kendra likes two types of movies–cute romcoms, and (a taste that she shares with Mick) action films, complete with utterly unnecessary explosions and violent (but well-choreographed) fight scenes that Sara criticizes endlessly.
  • Rip is endlessly fascinated by documentaries, particularly the ones about animals.  To him, it paints an interesting picture of the past, gives him a perspective on the past that he never really got while working as a Time Master in the 21st century.  It drives the rest of the crew crazy, especially because Ray and Kendra sulk like children every damn time a predator  kills a deer or a rabbit or something .
  • Sara is a proponent of horror movies and heart-wrenching tragedies.  Not because she has any particular fondness for them (they’re okay, but not her favorite genres–she lives for chick flicks like Legally Blonde and Mean Girls) but because, through force of will, she is able to remain stonefaced and emotionless while watching them, and she rather enjoys seeing the rest of crew (well, maybe not the Rogues, but definitely the others) wince and get weepy during the most extreme of her picks.
  • Snart, true to form, likes crime and heist movies–well, that’s not necessarily true.  He claims to like those movies, and those are always the ones he suggests.  Does he actually like them?  Will the rest of the crew ever find out his actual favorite type of movie? No one knows.
  • Jax doesn’t actually have a favorite type of movie–he honestly likes them all, and is down for whatever the rest of the crew wants to watch, which often makes him the deciding vote when they’re torn between two or three films.  It also means that, generally, when Jax wants to watch a film, they do.
  • There are some movies that they decidedly can’t watch.  Rip (being the ultimate Time Dad) probably checks IMDB’s parent guide to make sure that there’s nothing that will upset them–because they’ve learned a hard way that any films that involve the death of a significant other (or just romantic tragedies in general) are not fun for Ray, and that films that involve child abuse are an absolute no-go for Len.
  • When they first start movie nights, its probably really awkward.  They’re not quite sure what to do with themselves.  But by the time they have their third or fourth movie night, they don’t even care anymore.  Kendra makes them all fancy coffee drinks.  Rip and Stein probably team up in the kitchen to whip up one of Clarissa’s fancy dinner recipes, and then they probably all try to squeeze into the couch.  Ray usually ends up snuggled between the side of the couch and Mick, with Len sitting sprawled on the floor in front of them (eventually, they both become desensitized to Ray’s habit of clinging during films, though the first two movie nights are laden with withering glares and awkward apologies).  Jax and Sara usually push their way onto the couch as well.  The assassin has a habit of propping her legs up on the other occupants of the couch, which is kind of annoying until they get used to it.  Stein  gets the loveseat to himself, on the excuse that trying to squeeze  into a seat with him probably will not have a positive effect on his continued health.  There’s really no argument against that.  Rip usually ends up sitting on the floor in front of Sara (because nobody else can tolerate her habit of using human heads as armrests), and Kendra more often than not will end up on the floor too, between Rip and Snart.
  • Then they all eat M&Ms and greasy pizza and drink cute coffee drinks and are cute and hAPPY

Okay, could you PLEASE start tagging your hate on other games in the series? I have no opinion on Sticker Star, but Color Splash was a legitimately good time for me. And then SPM is my favorite game of all time. I'm just kind of sick of all this, you know?

I mean, buddy, you’re allowed to like whatever you like. Good games, bad games, terrible games, games that have horrifically defiled a once belovéd franchise instead of just letting it rest in peace- it’s all good. I’m not telling you what to like, I’m just being critical. When I take a jab at Sticker Star or Color Splash, it’s in good fun, and it’s for one of two reasons:

1. It violates guidelines of game theory and/or film theory (not the YouTube channels, but the actual studies/disciplines).

Doing this is what makes a game “bad” from a critical standpoint.

2. It does away with principles and conventions set by the first two games, the very elements that defined the series and distinguished it from other games in the Mario franchise.

Doing this is what makes a game unfaithful to its predecessors. These changes are not to be confused with innovation, which means finding ways to take the same principles and conventions and make something new out of them. Good examples of that might include Super Mario Bros. inspiring Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario 64 inspiring Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64 inspiring Mario Kart: Double Dash, and so on and so forth. Faithful games don’t become something entirely different with a few superficial similarities sprinkled on top, they hold onto the vast majority of gameplay elements and storytelling techniques.

That said, Super Paper Mario’s a good game. I’ve never meant to imply otherwise. It’s definitely had a negative impact on future games in the series, and it’s a stretch to call it a Paper Mario game, but that doesn’t make it a bad game, only unfaithful, and it’s still much more faithful than either Sticker Star or Color Splash. It follows game theory fairly well, making only a few noteworthy mistakes, and follows film theory superbly, inventing a story and cast of characters that outshine every other aspect of the game.

The purpose of this blog is not, has never been, and never will be to hurt anyone’s feelings or ruin anyone’s day. I’m not trying to spread hate, I’m just trying to make some innocent jokes. If it’s not working for you, feel free to block or filter out my posts (all of which are tagged papermariosuggestion). I mean no harm.

if there are any seb fans out there looking forward to “I, Tonya”...

and thinking to themselves, “wow i also love allison janney and i sure do love the dark comedy/faux documentary thing!!” may i suggest

give me five characters/shows/celebrities/fandoms/whatever and i will put them in order from my least favorite to favorite!  ::Yes I changed it around::

oooh…. obscure ones!

Arthur Holmwood–Dracula: I just didn’t like that production. I think they were all told to act it up and boy did they. But then I rarely like any vampire theme book/show. I just don’t get it. ::one scene is an exception:: cough

Ian Katz–The Fifth Estate: the best six minutes in a film…haha. This movie was the first time I ever saw Dan on the big screen so I have to love it. That one close-up of his blue eyes was worth the price of admission. And the movie is fine– it informed me of a lot of things regarding Julian Assange.

Kenny Kristo–A Walk Among the Tombstones: This adaptation was sabotaged I’m convinced by the powers that be at the studio. If Scott Frank had been able to do the adaptation of Lawrence Block’s book they way I believe he initially intended this would have been a better film. AND KENNY WOULD HAVE LIVED TO GET HIS REVENGE…
This movie is sooooo important to Dan’s career though. Scott Frank saw The Heiress on Broadway and went backstage to talk to him about AWAT… without that meeting and dodgy ‘tached Kenny I don’t think he’d have gotten The Guest…and without The Guest his career wouldn’t be where it is today.

Gilbert Evans–Summer in February– Yes my love of Gilbert Evans runs deep and hard. The book is superior to the movie. But I respect the movie (with it’s indie budget and great cast) and Dan’s desire to show his gratitude to his mentor and acting coach Jonathan Smith. Gilbert is a good man. And a great kisser…

Go read the book!

I’m saying want to see but I’m almost positive that I saw at least some of it (maybe even all of it) on TV at some point. But it was a LONG time ago and other than the actual kidnapping scene, the memories are hazy. So my answer is more like “want to see again” lol. Oh and side note/fun fact- Mr. Wifey has many times been told he looks like Liam Neesan…

Preference #006

What you two do on a free day.

Damon Salvatore

you go on a mini roadtrip

Whether it be a few hours until you’re in another state, or half a day until you reach your destination, you and Damon both love to cruise down the interstate, music blasting. Your feet rest up on the dashboard as you and him sing along and crack jokes all day until you get to wherever you both decided to go. Most times y'all end up staying the night in a hotel room. But usually, you don’t sleep much there.

Stefan Salvatore

you both spend the day by the falls

If the weather is good, you and Stefan will sometimes pack a picnic basket and a blanket and the both of you would lie by the river and joke and lie around, wasting the day away by watching the clouds.

Klaus Mikaelson

you spend the day being his model

It’s no secret to you that Klaus loves to paint. It’s also become apparent that you’re currently his favorite thing to paint. For hours you’ll sit reading, or sleeping, or doing anything really for all he cares so long as you’re still for him. Although, he much prefers it when you agree to be a nude model, rather than just a regular one for his paintings.

Elijah Mikaelson

you both stay in bed all day

Not in a dirty way — though, you have spent your share of time between the sheets with him on free days before, you two usually just lie in bed for most of the day. Whether you’re reading, or sleeping, or watching a movie. If there’s nothing to do that day, you both figure that the best way to spend the day is to be lazy and not even get up. Even if it is rather un-Elijah-like sometimes in your opinion. You love it.

Kol Mikaelson

↳ he takes you to the movies

Ever since he’d been undaggered, Kol had been obsessed with new technology. This included films. While yes, he had collected and watched several films ranging in different genres already, his favorite thing to do when there was nothing else to . And since you didn’t approve of terrorizing the locals like he seemed to like doing, he would drag you to the cinema to watch whatever was most interesting. It was always amusing to see him watching the films. Though, sometimes he got a little handsy in the dark theater, you didn’t mind all that much.

Jeremy Gilbert

 study date at the library

You two don’t get much free time. Especially him always worrying about his sister, and you about your friends. And even when you both do have time to do nothing, you still have to do something, seeing as you both want to pass high school.

Tyler Lockwood

he tries to teach you how to play video games

The keyword being “try” of course. It’s not that you’re bad at them, per say. They’re just not your cup of tea. Most of the time it’s full of both of you laughing as you try to push him off the couch so he’ll get distracted and you’ll win, or him covering your eyes with one hand until you duck away. Sometimes Carol can complain about you both being too loud, but that isn’t really a huge concern of yours.

Alaric Saltzman

you put him to work

It always seemed like something in your house needed fixing. The porch, the dining room tiles, or a fresh coat of paint is needed in the dining room. Half the time, you just watch him and try not to get in his way. But there are fun days where you’ll help him paint. Usually you both end up with more paint on your body than on the

Matt Donovan

you do something normal

Go to the movies. Go on a picnic. Go have sex in the back of his truck. You two just do something that normal teenagers who don’t know anything about the supernatural world would do. Even if half the day is spent on thinking about what a normal thing is so you can do it, it’s always going to be a day without vampires, werewolves, or anything of the sort.

If you would like to suggest a preference, go here!

I'm curious: Rate your favorite films of this year so far, and your best picks for the Oscars... Hope to see there CMBYN obviously, I'd be rooting for them.

okay cool so

overall too many ww2 films about white british men for me this year. fuck em honestly, fuck the darkest hour and fuck dunkirk

best picture: borg/mcenroe if it releases in time or whatever that fucking gary oldman movie is, the darkest hour, which idc about at all but it was also crafted to win awards so idk. low hopes from me for call me by your name to win, mostly because i do think from an academy perspective it has a lot in common with moonlight

director: luca, hopefully not christopher nolan’s trite ass. maybe dee rees except mudbound will struggle as a netflix original. also jordan peele will get a nom for sure

best actor: i would be surprised and vindicated if timmy beats gary oldman, i know he will for sure at some other awards (not bafta but sag and gg probably) but the academy hates giving best actor to young guys

best actress: frances mcdormand

supporting actor: shia labeouf, if you think armie has a chance then honestly keep dreaming because i love him but he was really just fine, and michael’s role didn’t have enough meat i guess willem dafoe but again.. not armie

supporting actress: allison janey who was incredible in i, tonya, or laurie metcalf in lady bird although the film did not seem entirely award friendly to me, her performance was. potentially michelle pfieffer

original screenplay: darkest hour, shape of water, three billboards

adapted screenplay: call me, wonderstuck

i also loved logan, like as someone who is not invested at all or well educated in the x men universe, it was a genuinely heartbreaking film that was easy to follow and easy to emote to. and honestly i think the shape of water is going to get a really poor public reception, it’s too fucking weird. general public not ready for bestiality yet

Halloween ask! Horror flick & black cat

Thanks for the ask!

Horror Flick: Do you like scary movies? If so, which one is your favorite?

YOU BET I LIKE SCARY MOVIES!! Any kind – paranormal, psychological, slasher, horror-comedy, whatever. It’s hard to pick a single fave but uhhh, Silence of the Lambs and The Descent are probably the two films I rewatch most frequently. I don’t think I can ever get tired of those. And as my blog’s been making pretty obvious lately, I really enjoyed the new It.

p.s. I am always looking for more good horror, y’all, I wade through so much dross on Netflix looking for anything worth the time, recommendations are always appreciated.

Black Cat: Are you superstitious?

Despite how fascinated I am by superstitions and folklore and all things supernatural and strange, I really … am not superstitious, no. Maybe in minor ways. I toss a bit of salt over my shoulder if I spill it, I fear to mention things I hope will happen because I’m afraid I’ll jinx them if I say anything out loud. But I don’t actually, intellectually believe such things are real.

In light of all the animosity flying around the Bonnie Bennett fandom of late, we decided to host a week dedicated to promoting unity, a chance to be positive about ships, to combat all the negativity in the tags. A week where artists from all Bonnie ships could make stuff and share it all in one tag. So The Bonnie!Empire is proud to present…

Bonnie Bennett CommUNITY Week!

November 28 - December 4, 2015

  • Day 1: Bonnie Bennett Day | This is a Bonnie day, no focus on ships, just the lovely witch who holds our hearts.
  • Day 2: Human AU | Bonnie and her love as humans.
  • Day 3: Fairytale AU | Bonnie and her love inhabit your favorite fairytale.
  • Day 4: Your OTP | Time to showcase your Bonnie Bennett OTP ship and make some art/fic/whatever you want, that speaks to the core of why you love it so much.
  • Day 5: Superhero AU | Where Bonnie and/or her love are  film/tv/comic/cartoon superheroes.
  • Day 6: Gift Exchange | This one has a festive holiday theme, it’s Bonnie and her love sharing the holidays. Send us a message with your OTP & NoTP listed and you will be given a gift request to fulfill.
  • Day 7: Free-for-All | We encourage you to try a ship you wouldn’t normally do, doesn’t have to be NoTP, just something outside of your comfort zone.

This is a fantastic opportunity to see and appreciate the talent each of our shipper fandoms have, even if we don’t ship the same things! We want to see your fics, art, manips, playlists, gifsets, all the awesome our fandoms have to offer.

During the week, tag all your submissions with #bbcUweek, #Bonnie!Empire, and the ship in the first 5 tags, so they are easy to find.

To the lovely people listed below, you are all prominent, prolific, and active in your various (and occasionally multiple) Bonnie ship fandoms, and we’d like to ask for your help in encouraging people to take part in this Bonnie ships love fest by promo-ing the week and by participating too.

Horror AU

I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before but I’m a huge fan of horror movies, so I thought I should put together a list of my all time favorite Destiel horror fics! I swear I watch every single horror film that comes out, no matter if it’s an amateur movie done with a shaky camera or a foreign movie with no subs! I’m kind of sad that there aren’t that many great Destiel horror fics compared to other fandoms, but I take whatever I can get! I used to be a pretty popular ff writer on another fandom, so I’m seriously thinking about writing a Destiel horror fic because I’d fucking ACE it! Lol the only problem I have is that whenever I write fanfiction, all my chapters tend to be over 10k so the overall story will always end up being 200-400k total. Admin J is the same with me on this issue! That’s why I always have to complete the fic before posting it so that I won’t leave it unfinished! Anyway… Here’s all my fav horror fics in no particular order! – Admin A

Admin A’s notes: I’m a sucker for ghost stories and horror is my all time favorite genre of books and movies, so naturally, I had to read all the Destiel horror fics I could find. This one is more of a traditional ghost story so I was very pleased with it because it was more AU than most horror Destiel fics!

Summary: Strange occurrences start after Dean and Castiel move into their dream house, leading Castiel to believe that they may not be alone there.

Admin’s assessment:  ★ ★

Admin A’s notes: I’m being biased again but HS fics, no matter how good they are, just aren’t my thing. But I decided to add this on the list anyway because I’m sure most of you will enjoy it a lot more than me!

Summary: Senior year of high school is generally considered to be a struggle; with a new boyfriend and a group of jocks who won’t stop straight-out harassing him, it’s nearly impossible. Despite being in love and enjoying its perks, Dean grows desperate enough to seek aid from a practiser of one of the oldest arts – witchcraft – to hopefully make their lives (especially Cas’) easier. Spells are a dangerous business, though, and oftentimes, not even the best intentions can make a difference.

Admin A’s notes: This wasn’t really horror for me, but since it sort of had that mysterious air around it, I decided to add it here. Honestly I’ve watched way too many horror films in my life because nothing ever surprises me :’D

Summary: Dean can’t say he’s thrilled when a hunt takes him back to his childhood town. It feels like Oak Mill and the nearby woods are haunted by more than just the mysterious monster that’s been snatching people away. But after a forest spirit saves his life, it seems that maybe he’ll find something good there after all, not just a bunch of unwanted memories and lost friendships.

Admin’s assessment:  ★ ★ ★ ★

Admin A’s notes: Jane Eyre SPN fusion fic… Awesome! I mean Charlotte Brontë is like one of my all time fav authors along with Jane Austen (yes I’m that kind of a reader!) So when I found a SPN fusion with Jane Eyre, I knew I’d love it and I was right!

Summary: In 1843 Castiel Milton leaves his life of quiet faith and duty to take up employment as tutor to the young ward of one Mr Dean Winchester, at Blackthorn Hall. Set deep among the Yorkshire moors, Blackthorn is a place of mysteries – a wild place, where pale faces appear at the windows, and mad women laugh in the night. Castiel is drawn to the enigmatic Master of Blackthorn and they form an attachment neither of them expected. But there are secrets hidden behind Blackthorn’s stone walls, truths that threaten to destroy their fragile happiness, as they are forced to confront the ghosts of their past.

Title: the inexhaustible silence of houses

Author: Askance

Rating: Teen And Up Audiences

Words: 31,820 – Finished

Admin’s assessment:  ★ ★ ★ ★

Admin A’s notes: I loved this! I seriously wish I could go back in time and not watch as many horror films as I have, so I could really get more intuned with these fics and not be able to predict how everything will end :’D

Summary: Almost two years after the world doesn’t end, Castiel falls from grace—and loses his voice in the process. It is the impetus for confession and change; before long, he is settling into a loving relationship with Dean, the Winchesters are tired, and hunting for a place to land has taken precedence to hunting anything else. Dean and Castiel fall in love with the strange little house on the end of Swallowtail Drive, and for a little while life is as it should be—sweet, affectionate, and beginning afresh.

But more and more Castiel sees and hears things in the house that beg the question of whether or not a place itself can be alive. The walls and rooms seem to shift and grow and breathe, and one night, Dean comes home from a hunt changed in a way that Castiel cannot explain. In the months that follow, their domestic bliss takes turns for the dark and sour, and the confusion of their circumstances will ultimately test everything Castiel knows about the man he loves, and everything he believes to be true.

The long road filled with shadows and doubts take him to Nires Island, a small fishing town off the coast of Maine where the food is good and the neighbors are polite. The dead walk, the vengeful haunt, the darkness stalks, and Dean Winchester may be more than just the shady mechanic who somehow manages to destroy Castiel’s defenses.

What is your opinion on short films? Do you know of any good ones?

I think short films are an art form. I watch them all the time. There’s so many brilliant ones out there.

There’s a handful of really great websites out there that curate short form content. It could be an easy way to begin to consume good media and educate yourself on what is quality content and what isn’t. My favorite is probably www.shortoftheweek.com and I check it every time I have a few free minutes. It’s a great website to keep you entertained if you are at the DMV or something like that where you’ll be waiting for a while. You can browse through categories and browse through whatever you’re in the mood for. Best part…it’s free. Vimeo Staff Picks are also a great way to find some incredible films.

Here’s some of my favorites. These three are all sci-fi and insanely beautiful:

Sundays - the last one - is actually so good that WB bought the rights to it to turn it into a feature film. Still waiting for that to happen.

Here’s my piece for the Little Golden Tales show at Gallery Nucleus! It’s a tribute to Little Golden Books, Mary Blair, and Lord of the Rings all in one shot! I was so happy to have been invited to participate in this show. I love Golden Books! Working on this piece was so great because I was able to paint it traditionally, and had creative freedom to choose whatever I wanted. I chose Lord of the Rings because I’ve always wanted to do a piece based on the books/films. I also chose to pay tribute to Mary Blair’s cover for “I Can Fly” as it is my all time favorite Little Golden Book.
Lea Michele on 'Glee' finale: 'It became so much more than a musical comedy'

The Times: Lea, how does it feel to be ending the run?

Lea Michele: I couldn’t be happier with the work I did on the show. “Glee” was a very specific, unique experience that leaves me feeling like I can achieve anything that comes my way. We did endure a very rigorous schedule for almost seven years. I’m going to look back years from now and be like, “How the hell did I do that?”

The Times: Prior to “Glee,” musical comedy hadn’t worked particularly well in prime time. What was it that fans responded to?

Michele: For me growing up, there weren’t a lot of television shows out there where I could say, “Oh, this person looks like me. Or they have a life sort of like mine.” There was something and someone for everyone on our show. And then obviously music. I was raised with music playing in my house. My mother was always listening to Aretha Franklin, my dad was always listening to Queen and Journey. Having such a huge musical presence was probably what originally brought people to the show. But as it progressed, it became so much more than a musical comedy.

It was really this generation’s game-changer. What it did for kids, opening up dialogues between them and their parents, as well as bringing attention to arts education was so unbelievable for a little one-hour comedy on Fox.

The Times: “Glee” is famous for popularizing show-choir covers of classic pop and rock songs. Are there young fans who still think you guys created those tunes?

Michele: Yeah, that happens. There are a lot of girls who think that “Don’t Rain on My Parade” is my song, and not Barbra Streisand’s. But I’m beyond proud that we were able to bring those classic rock songs and make them fresh and current.

The Times: What were your favorite moments from the past six seasons?

Michele: I will always remember the pilot episode. Singing “Don’t Stop Believing” with the original kids. That will be forever frozen in my mind. Everything from then on was just this whole sort of spinning.

Another big moment was when we filmed our Season 2 finale. We all flew to New York. Just a year prior, working on Broadway, I could walk down the street, do whatever I wanted and no one knew my name. Now I was in Central Park shooting “Glee” and there’s 300 fans surrounding us. That was pretty unbelievable.

I heard that SQ shippers were sending nudes to Lana, Jen and Sean, You do realize Lana and Sean are married in real life and Sean just renewed his vows to his wife. How immature can you all be. Are you that desperate to get SwanQueen canon that you resort to that much immaturity. Adam and Eddy have said SQ is no the story they want to tell, pulling stuff like you all did is not going to win you any favors, it just makes you look immature.

i heard that trolls were sending harassment to people who like SQ. you do realize that there are people on the other end of these accounts, don’t you? and not an abstract ideal to hate? how immature can you all be? are you that desperate to shore up your pathetic ship that you resort to that much immaturity? Adam and Eddy have sent Robin away over the town line. pulling stuff like this as you all do is not going to win you any favors. it just makes you look immature.

i’m sorry that your life is so sad and lonely that the only source of human contact you have is by harassing others, but do try to get out more. maybe volunteer through your church.

of course you “heard” that. like someone “heard” that they filmed a CS sex scene. receipts please. someone did send Lana a nearly-nude of Jen on her birthday six months ago, and i condemned it when it happened. i would do the same here if you hadn’t just made it up. i’ll guarantee that anybody above a certain level of fame gets spam nudes and bots and whatever all the time. doesn’t make it SQ’s fault, despite us being your favorite bogeyman.

you may also want to condemn the person who asked Lana and Maguire (you know, those people who are married?) about using tongue in their scenes together, while you’re on your high horse, because that actually happened.

grade: D- because not capslock. well done.

mycrazes  asked:

since you've just answered that question about books, what are some of your favorite movies?

This post will probably be much longer (I’ve seen more movies than read books). I’ll see if I can narrow it down to my very favorites…

  • Casablanca (1942): This movie is nearly perfect. Things that could be changed to make it perfect: (1) Ilsa refers to Sam as “that boy playing the piano” (could so easily have been fixed); (2) Rick never says goodbye to Sam (after all those years?!); and (3) when Rick tells Victor at the end that Ilsa came to him that one night…majorly awkward. Why not just let it be? Otherwise, terrific. Love the use of actual non-English languages in this one.
  • About Time (2013): Heartwrenching. May be my favorite by Richard Curtis.
  • Labyrinth (1986): One of my all-time favorite films featuring one of my all-time favorite artists—or two, actually: David Bowie and Jim Henson. (Also features a score by Trevor Jones, who would go on to score another favorite—Notting Hill—by none other than Richard Curtis!)
  • Angels with Dirty Faces (1938): Extraordinary. Powerful ending. I’ll never forget the first time I saw it.
  • Harvey (1950): If there’s one I’d have to recommend out of this entire list, it’s this film. (Having now written the entire list, I stand by this pick. If there’s one to see, it’s Harvey.)
  • Edward Scissorhands (1990): Tim Burton’s best. Only sour note in this movie is Anthony Michael Hall—or at least the dialogue that was written for him.
  • Swing Time (1936): The “Mr. Bojangles” number was supposed to be a loving tribute (times were different). Otherwise, what a bizarre, otherworldly story. Fred Astaire appears to be some sort of demigod that can do whatever he wants. This was the first Astaire film I saw, and I’d never seen anything like it before.
  • Ratatouille (2007): My favorite Pixar (for Remy’s storyline. For me, this movie is all about Remy and Peter O’Toole).
  • Dr. Strangelove (1964): Waiting for a time for this movie to cease being relevant.
  • Brazil (1985): Movie had a huge impact on me. The best dystopian ever.
  • Kiki’s Delivery Service (1989): May not be Miyazaki’s best or most important, but it’s my favorite. I saw this movie only when Disney re-released it; wish I could’ve seen it and grown up with it as a kid.
  • The Thin Red Line (1998): Like Brazil, this film also had a huge impact n me when I was younger.
  • Last Year at Marienbad (1961): The opening sequence to this film absolutely mesmerized me. One of the most amazing things I have ever seen in my life.
  • Harakiri (1962): Man, this movie. Major mindfunk. Shocking.
  • El Topo (1970): One of the best protest films ever made.
  • You Can’t Take It With You (1938): Capra’s best.
  • Flashdance (1983): All the way up to the last scene. There is NOOOOOO reason she should be happy to see that loser.
  • The Karate Kid (1984): Sorry; too formative.
  • Top Gun (1986): TOO FORMATIVE!
  • Blood Sport (1988): I know it’s not good, but… I mean, come on! “What’s the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi?!”
  • High Noon (1952): A western, in a sense, but a truly amazing allegory. Outstanding film.
  • Drowning by Numbers (1988): Stunning and not too tough to watch. Upon reflection, I think it’s Greenaway’s best. Certainly the one I always want to watch.
  • Cool Hand Luke (1967): Man, what a movie…
  • The Royal Tenenbaums (2001): Wes Anderson’s best. This one has it all.
  • To Sir, with Love (1967): Teaching movies are often too much for me. For example…
  • Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939): Can’t believe how much I cried at the end of this movie.
  • The Third Man (1949): Amazing film; amazing use of music.
  • Sullivan’s Travels (1941): If you like meta, this one takes the cake.
  • My Man Godfrey (1936): May not be the best movie, but such a delight. I’ve seen it over 100 times, thanks to thisallegra.
  • Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010): This is basically the story I wanted to write in college—but 10,000 times better. So glad it exists.
  • D.E.B.S. (2004): Shocking to me how underappreciated and unknown this movie is. “Open to what?”, “Open to love!
  • Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939): Yeah, it’s that good.
  • Purple Rose of Cairo (1985): Can an immoral man tell a moral tale? It’s a damn fine film.
  • Somebody Up There Likes Me (1956): Couldn’t believe how much I laughed at how crazy this movie was. I saw it once, and I’ve been dying to see it again. Reminds me of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus, but it’s based on a true story. Just wild.
  • Smoke Signals (1998): Great performances; great story; bad wig. (But you can forgive the wig.)
  • Mad Max: Fury Road (2015): I know there hasn’t been enough time gone by to have the appropriate critical distance, but I really can’t think of a better action film.

So…yeah. That’s some of them. I’ve seen a lot of good movies, and more keep coming by the bucketful. It’s a good era to be alive, that whole 20th-21st century period.
