what's on in london

Someone on Twitter alerted me to this old tweet of mine from this time 3 years ago, when 1989 Sessions happened and I was so gutted because I felt like I was invisible and lonely everywhere; at university, even on my then-very-quiet blog. It felt like I was a tiny voice in a void and I’d never find my way to Taylor….

…………Little did I know Taylor Swift would find me?!?!?!?!

The real Taylor Swift:

April 23rd 2009-July 10th 2010: The Fearless Tour

The Fearless Tour. Taylor decided to walk through the crowds at her shows, greeting fans of all ages, genders and races because SHE wanted to meet the fans that had been supporting her and helping her reach where she is to this day. After each show, Taylor held a meet and greet called ‘The T-Party’. This was a room where fans could go to eat pizza and meet each other and get to know other people and then get to meet Taylor. Taylor would walk around stadiums and hide behind food bars and then surprise fans in the line. Each night she would walk a number of miles to meet as many people as she could.

February 9th 2011-March 18th 2012: The Speak Now Tour

Much like at the Fearless Tour, Taylor said she wanted to continue walking through the crowds during one of her songs at the Speak Now Tour. Taylor hugged as many people as she could and thanked them for coming. Sometimes Taylor would tell her security to move out of the way and to let her hug more people. Taylor continued her ‘T-Party’ meet and greet. Taylor’s team would walk to different areas of the stadium during the show and hand out free meet and greets to fans who had gone all-out; screaming and dancing the whole time and wearing bold and creative costumes/handmade posters.

September 8th 2012: Ronan

The lyrics to this song are based on a blog she read about a four-year-old boy, Ronan Thompson, who died from neuroblastoma in 2011.Taylor wrote the song by putting together quotes from blog creator Maya Thompson, Ronan’s mother. Thompson is credited as a co-writer of the song. Taylor first performed the song live for Stand Up to Cancer in September 2012, and has only performed it publicly one other time, at the Glendale, Arizona stop of The 1989 World Tour, at which Ronan’s mother was in the audience. All proceeds from sales of the single go to help fight cancer.

2014: 1989 Secret Sessions

In anticipation of the release of her album, 1989 on October 27, Taylor held a series of “1989 Secret Sessions” over the past few weeks at her various homes across America, where carefully-selected fans were told they were attending some sort of secret event, with no knowledge of what was in store for them. When fans arrived they were told to sit in a room together and wait. Taylor then jumped out and surprised them all and they all got to hear her new album before anyone else. Taylor baked cookies and other goods, fans got to meet Taylor’s cat, Olivia Benson Swift, and they danced together and each got to meet Taylor and just hang out.

May 5th 2015-December 12th 2015: The 1989 Tour

At each 1989 concert, before perfoming her song ‘clean’, Taylor gave a 3-4 minute inspirational speech, telling fans to love themselves. This is what Taylor said to the crowd of 60,000 at Hyde Park, London on June 272015: ‘There are people here from all over the world, so if you travelled to be here, thank you so much for coming. And, you know, looking out at you, thinking about the fact that we all come from different places, maybe we all have different accents, we have different hobbies, different backgrounds, whatever. But there’s one thing that we have in common that I know for sure. That thing is that when we feel a great amount of joy, or a great amount of pain, we turn to music. That’s why we’re all at Hyde Park tonight. From talking to you so much, and getting to know you, it’s never been more apparent to me how difficult it is to feel okay about yourself in 2015. Real talk. I mean, every single day we go online – and trust me, I love the internet, okay? Love it – but, every day we go online and we scroll through the highlight reel of other people’s awesome lives. But we don’t see the highlight reel of our awesome lives – all we see is the behind the scenes. We see every single moment, from when we wake up and we’re like “oh, God, not feeling my hair today. Not going to be a good day today for the hair”. We see our doubts, we see our fears, we see our concerns. You are the only one who is inside your brain feeling all of your anxieties and the voices who are telling you that you can’t be who you want to be, or that you’re not who you want to be, or that you want to be more like that other person over there. Let me tell you, people are mean to each other, but no voice is as mean as our own voices are to ourselves. Is it true or is it false? It’s true, right? Okay, so if there’s one thing that you come away from this night remembering, I want it to be this – every day when you look in the mirror, and your mind is telling you all the things you are not – if those things are that you’re not cool enough, you’re not pretty enough, you’re not popular enough, you’re not successful enough, you’re not special, you’re not wanted, you’re not unique – those are not the things you are not. Let me tell you the things you are not. Okay? You are not somebody else’s opinion. That’s what you’re not. You are not going nowhere just because you’re not where you want to be yet. You are not damaged goods just because you have made mistakes in your life. Those are the things you are not. Let me tell you the things that you are. Would you like to hear the things that you are? You are your own definition of beautiful, and worthwhile, and no one else’s definition. You are wiser, stronger, and smarter because you made mistakes in your life, not damaged. And lastly, London, England, you are someone who is probably standing here tonight going through your own battles, fighting your own ghosts, trying to cover your own scars, stressing about your own stresses. But, rather than wallowing in them, you got up, you put on an awesome outfit, and now we’re all standing here together having the best time of our lives at a concert on a Saturday night. I realise that it’s not about being perfect, it’s not about feeling perfect. I think that sometimes it’s just about getting on with things and realising that you’re happy today. That’s all that matters. I just want you to know that one thing I have learned in 25 years, and I’m still learning, is that if you get rained on, you walk through a bunch of storms, life is constantly coming at you – that doesn’t make you damaged. It makes you clean.’

May 5th 2015-December 12th 2015: The 1989 Tour (Loft 89)

At Taylor’s 1989 concerts, she held a meet and greet called ‘Loft 89′ where Taylor, again, could hang out with her fans and dance around with them. Taylor met lots of different people including children with disabilities and illnesses. Taylor made sure everyone had a great time and that everyone was included and treated equally.

Christmas 2014/2015: ‘Swiftmas’

Taylor Swift surprised 13-year-old fan Delaney Clements who was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at the age of seven. Delaney, who is a massive fan of the 26-year-old singer started a campaign to meet Taylor called #TaylorMeetDelaney and on Saturday (19th December) her wish came true. Taylor surprised the family by turning up unannounced and the afternoon was captured on Instagram and Facebook with Delaney and her Mum posting photos. Taylor became so into the idea of ‘Swiftmas’ that she also sent a number of other fans packages of merch and other little presents.

Award acceptance speeches

To any award acceptance speech, there is always something directed to Taylor’s fans. Taylor thanks her fans for everything because she knows that we are such a big part of her life and she wouldnt be where she is now without us.

A very important quote Taylor has said:

Long story short: Taylor is one of those few artists who does nothing but good for her fans and everyone around her yet she gets body shamed and name called everywhere. It really does break my heart.

Taylor has been there for me through everything and I know that she always will be because she has never failed to make us all smile and to make us all feel better about ourselves, She has made me feel loved and wanted and she has introduced me to some of my bestest friends ever. To me, Taylor Swift is not just an artist, she’s my best friend.

@taylorswift

My Secret Session Story.

On October 6th (the day after I got my wisdom teeth out) Taylor Nation Dmed me about a top secret event I was invited to. As soon as I read that I knew I had to go no matter what, I fell on the floor, and I was sobbing. On October 8th I got a call from Taylor Nation, and they told me it would be on October 18th in Rhode Island. Even though that is so far away from Ontario, Canada my parents were still so supportive and said we would go. Btw an hour after the call Taylor came on my livestream and just wow.

I then went out and bought a really cute outfit, and kept it a secret from everyone, and couldn’t sleep for the whole week.

Once the London Secret Session happened, I knew that’s what I would be attending too. And I once again started crying. Every time I thought about what would happen on October 18th I cried.

Finally on October 17th we began our 10 hour drive down, and I just listened to Taylor the whole time (I should’ve done homework, but like…) and it was so fun!

Then the day came…

I woke up early, walked on the beach and explored Rhode Island. Then I got ready for the night!

At around 2:40pm we drove to the meeting place, and got all checked in and got our wristbands and everything. I also met up with my online friend Akhila who was also invited!!!

Then we all got in these cars and drove up to TAYLOR SWIFTS HOUSE. The gates opened all dramatically and I began sobbing!!

HER HOUSE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

We then went into Taylor’s kitchen and ate food, I went out on her balcony and talked to Scott (he gave me so many guitar picks), I met Andrea, Austin, and Tree as well! They were all so kind.

The food was amazing, I ate so many of the rep m&m’s.

We then gathered into Taylor’s living room, they closed the blinds, dimmed the lights and the session began. (((WHAT HAPPENS IN THE SECRET SESSIONS STAYS IN THE SECRET SESSIONS)))

Lemme just say that the album was absolutely amazing, the best one yet. Taylor was in her chair dancing and singing along the whole time and looked around at all of us. She made eye contact with me so many times, and smiled at me, and danced with me, and I cried so much. I was so freaking close to her and she looked so beautiful and she was soooooooo happy.

She looked flawless, and her happiness radiated to all of us.

(((more stuff happened here that I can’t talk about))))

Then we went into another room and waited to meet Taylor.

During this sessions she wasn’t rushed, she took her time with everyone, and it was supposed o end at 9:15 but I was there till 11:30.

I went into the room to meet Taylor, and she hugged me so tight. She knew my name (she said it wrong but she knew how to spell it so it was all good, and then she said it 5 more times the right way lol). She was even more gorgeous that close up, I couldn’t believe what was happening, yet she was so easy to talk to?

We talked about how amazing the new album is, I said that Red was my absolute favourite but Rep took the #1 place and she was like “LOW FIVE, HUGH FIVE!!!”

Then we talked my livestream she watched, and how I couldn’t find my cat. And she said she’s seen me online so much but I used to be more tanned ahahah.

She kept complimenting my outfit, and stroked my choker saying “I love it it’s so delicate” and how my shoes matched my skirt and my choker matched my nails, so she proceeded to touch my nails.

She said she loved how energetic I was and that I was dancing with a childlike joyfulness the whole time!

At one point I was like “you’re gorgeous” and then she tapped my arm and said “YOU’RE GORGEOUS” and later she said “you’re an angel” so I tapped her arm and said “YOU’RE AN ANGEL” it was so cute.

Then she asked what type of pose I wanted to do and I said “I was thinking like two best friends just chilling on the couch” and she was like “OHMYGOSH YESSS DO YOU WANNA HOLD A GRAMMY????”

So we started talking about the Grammy I was holding which was aoty for 1989 !!!!!

Taylor was like “yes that’s the new baby.”

On the way over to the couch I stumbled and the couch moved and she was like “oh don’t worry I do that all the time.”

Then we sat on the couch, she threw her legs across me with her amazing black boots, and she cuddled me as I held the Grammy!!

Then she was like “Halley’s mom!! Do you wanna hold the Grammy?”

So we took another photo standing up with my mom, and I hugged her as my mom held the Grammy.

Then I thanked her for everything and told her I love her.

And she was like “I love you, you little fashionista” and did a little dance.

Then I walked out of that beautiful house, got a bag of merch, and went back to my hotel room.

Then Taylor came on my tumblr and liked soooo many posts and reblogged one and just the day couldn’t get any better.

The amount of joy I felt for the whole night was absolutely amazing. Nothing can ever compare. It’s safe to say that it was the best day/night of my life and I will cherish it forever.

I can’t believe Taylor wanted to meet me, invited me into her home to listen to her new album, and knew about me!?!?!

October 18th 2017 will forever hold a special place in my heart.

So today, @deerstalkers-and-jumpers gave me the brilliant idea of going to St. Barts hospital (where TRF was filmed) to see the graffitis that some fans wrote, and I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED

I am tagging some people that I think might be interested in seeing this silly photo i took, if you don’t wanna be tag please tell me

Live Updates: At Least Six Dead And 20 In Critical Condition, After Massive Fire Engulfs London Tower Block
Police have confirmed that at least six people have died and 74 people have been taken to six hospitals after fire tore through Grenfell Tower, north Kensington, shortly before 1am on Wednesday morning.
By BuzzFeed News

What We Know So Far

  • At least six people have died after an “unprecedented” fire ripped through a residential tower block in west London.
  • Twenty people are in critical condition. Seventy-four people have been treated and admitted to at six hospitals across the capital, the London Ambulance Service said.
  • The PM is “deeply saddened” by the “tragic” events. Sajid Javid, secretary of state for communities and local government, will chair an emergency Cobra meeting today.
  • The fire brigade was first called at shortly before 1am on Wednesday to Grenfell Tower in Latimer Road, north Kensington, London. Emergency responders were on the scene within six minutes.
  • Forty-five engines, 200 firefighters, and 100 medical personnel attended the scene, in addition to a number of police officers. Fire crews have reached the 20th floor, and a structural engineer, as well as urban search and rescue advisers, is monitoring the building.
  • Many residents are still missing. Witnesses said they saw people jumping from the building, and survivors have described how they managed to flee the building.
  • The cause of the fire is not clear.
  • The building, constructed in 1974, is 24 storeys tall and contains 120 homes, according to the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
  • Residents’ groups had issued numerous warnings in the past few years about the tower block’s fire safety provisions. Read more here.
  • An emergency casualty bureau number has been set up on 0800 0961 233.

This morning we woke up to the fifth terrorist attack in the space of a year: a man drove a van into a mosque at Finsbury Park (North London), killing one and injuring a further nine, most of whom were on their way home after Iftar.

It’s easy to feel as if the United Kingdom is becoming unrelentingly worse, particularly when the fire at Grenfell Tower is added to the mix. After Jo Cox’s murder, the Westminster attack, the Manchester bomb, the London Bridge attack, and now this.

But we also remember the immense compassion that has come out of this past year, too. The Jo Cox Foundation’s Great Get Together, Ariana Grande returning to Manchester just days after to raise money for the victims of the attack, Andy Burnham’s leadership just days after taking office, Sadiq Khan’s dignity under fire from Donald Trump, and of course the small boy who gave the pocket money he had saved to the Grenfell fire relief effort.

It’s been a year of considerable darkness but one in which light has shone through, too. And we have to remember this.
