what to name this ship

Moblit tenderly sketches every feature of Erwin’s handsome face while being in a veterans meeting. Softly drawing the commander’s chiselled face, his silky and shiny hair, the broad shoulders he would die for to lean his head on them and so on. Sometimes Moblit gets so carried away he doesn’t even know what the others are talking about and is always happy when Erwin leans forward and explains what they’re discussing and asks what Moblit was drawing. Having this hot piece of cake aka Erwin Fucking Smith this close makes him him blush and have a stammer. Embarrassed, Moblit is hiding his face and sketchbook, but Erwin just thinks he’s drunk as fuck and gives him a fatherly smile.

James x Lena friendship

One of the many things that the Supergirl writers dropped the ball on is a relationship between James and Lena.  I’m not saying a romantic relationship necessarily, but they are the only two characters who knew Lex Luthor you know, Superman’s arch enemy who has only been a ghost on the Supergirl.  Like everybody knows that Lex is crazy, but these two are the only characters, (other than Lillian who’s in denial, and maybe J’onn who would have been disguised as Henshaw) that knew the man.  Not to mention that it would flesh out James’ backstory more, like who he was before coming to National City.

Because the use of names gets confusing with secret identities like when James says that Lex was once Clark’s best friend, was he Clark Kent’s best friend or Superman?  Either way, how well did James and Lex know each other, were they sort of friends of a friend with Clark or Superman, did they hate each other and barely know each other only pretending to get along for their other friends sake? Or which would be the more interesting route, were the three of them the 3 Amigos, were all three of them good friends? Did James know about Lex’s crazy mom and family, like did he know how poorly Lex’s baby sister was treated because she was adopted?  Did James have to watch one of his best friends go crazy and try to kill his other best friend?  Did he have to testify against one of his best friends after he tried to commit genocide and see the betrayal in Lex’s eyes even if he did nothing wrong?  Maybe that’s why James is so suspicious of a ‘good’ Luthor, instead of just the boring standard, she’s from an evil family so she must be evil too. I think this would be a much more interesting story than anything with Mon-El and his failure to be a halfway decent person much less a hero. (Please note I haven’t watched the first season of Supergirl so these questions might have been answered)

Which brings me to James and Lena, two characters who know Lex ‘flippin’ Luthor yet never get a real scene between them.

Even disregarding Lex, they still have a lot in common as two brand new CEO’s who have very different styles since they’re companies are different.   Lena seems to run her company with poise and almost coldness to try and bring L-Corp out of the pit that Lex buried them in while James is barely seen running CatCo, but when he is, he tends to be floundering and undermined by his subordinates. Like I’m not saying they have to be best friends immediately, but maybe there could have been a scene at the gala early on in the season where they are cold to each other since they don’t know much other than Lena’s last name and that James runs a media empire.  James gets a call from Snapper or someone else who basically acts like since he isn’t Cat Grant he doesn’t really have to listen to him on something and Lena just gives him a tip on how to speak to people trying to undermine him taking advantage of his instability to his new status. Then maybe James could promise after a few scenes to always keep articles about L-Corp unbiased and the two could come to a cold but mutual understanding.

However, if James and Lex were friends that could bring up a whole new dimension to the series.   Then maybe it could explain a lot of James’ hostility with her being a ‘Luthor’ despite the fact that both Winn and Kara have fucked up families but are considered better for wanting to be better.  Maybe instead of just judging her by her last name, instead he sees the good person Lex was and how he still became a monster and he can’t help judge Lena since he saw how it could happen to a good person with demons. Maybe when they were friends Lex told James about how his mother treated his sister and James knows that while Lena wouldn’t want to normally go to Lillian’s side, she’s also so starved for motherly affection that she might go over out of desperation rather than logic.

Which would make his stalking her jail cell in “Luthors” make sense as he’s been burned by the family before.  It would add a lot more impact and strength to his arguments if it wasn’t just Clark who was hurt by Lex turning evil but James too.  And after the episode he could still be investigating her, not because he thinks she’s evil, but to make sure she doesn’t become evil like Lex. Eventually they could have a break down conversation laying their cards on the table, James tells Lena that he watched one of his friends become a monster while Lena fires back that Lex was her friend too and the two could realize that they finally met someone who knows what they are going through, betrayed by Lex Luthor.  Maybe then the two of them could talk about who Lex was, and that even though he’ll never be a good man the memories that they made were still pleasant.

I just want James and Lena to have a bigger part in the story. From what I could tell from the first season James was arguable the third or fourth most important character to the story of the main cast fighting over the 3rd spot with Cat Grant.  Yet since the 2nd season started he’s been treated like an accessory on the show and a knock off Batman when the writers remembered him.  A story with Lena, an outsider to the main cast would have given him a better storyline than what they gave him.  I mean I do like the Guardian storyline when it’s more than a cameo, and I won’t lie I ship him with Winn, but he deserves to have a relationship with someone else too.  Not to mention that as much as I love Lena her only interactions were with Kara, Lillian, and Rhea with the latter two just wanting to use her.  I ship her with Kara and I love their relationship, but Lena, like James deserves more than one platonic relationship, and they both certainly deserve more screen time than a boring asshole character  like Mon Jackass El.  Just my two cents on the matter since this season has been very problematic and areas have been poorly written in my opinion.

This is my favourite screen from the entire anime

Why?

1) The pun in the caption
2) The spelling of ‘Niliforv’
3) Otabek looks absolutely pissed
4) Chris is looking at Viktor like a concerned wife
5) Viktor is pining so hard I can hear sad violins

Originally, I wanted to draw an AU where Link and Zelda were normal human kids in a world like ours, but then I started thinking about Zoras and I got excited and a new AU within an AU happened?? I’ll probably make more of this.
