have you ever heard the story of the selkie? seal creatures living in the ocean who shapeshift into humans when on land. in doing so, they leave behind their seal skin, which they need in order to return to the ocean.
usually the story goes that a fisherman finds a selkie maiden’s seal skin and hides it from her, trapping her on land. the selkie becomes the fisherman’s wife and has his children, but the ocean is always her true home.
a mother from another world. a husband who has trapped her in this one. and their child, half of this world, half not. a little seal.
