Nickelback ‘Feed The Machine’ lyric starters

Feed the Machine

❛ Baiting every hook with filthy lies. ❜
❛ Another charlatan to idolize. ❜
❛ Is this suppression just in my mind? ❜
❛ No more questions, get back in line! ❜
❛ Pay with your life, the duller the knife, the longer it takes. ❜
❛ But now it’s your turn, the ashes will burn, and wither away. ❜
❛ Carving the truth, while harvesting you, to feed the machine. ❜
❛ The gears forever turn to grind the mice. ❜
❛ Will you become the fuel for sacrifice? Power absolutely all for show. ❜
❛ Is this obsession behind your eyes? ❜
❛ Why must the blind always lead the blind? ❜
❛ Why do I feel like the fault is mine? ❜
❛ Why must the weakest be sacrificed? ❜

Coin for the ferryman

❛ We just got high and hopin’ no one could tell ❜
❛ But with the icky and the sticky it don’t matter where the wind blows ❜
❛ Lighter in my hand and I got nothing to burn ❜
❛ Pick up a shotgun and we’ll all take turns ❜
❛ But don’t you ever say a word cause you know momma’s gonna hate that ❜
❛ Tidal wave in motion you can’t hide from the explosion In 3…2…1 ❜
❛ We’re smokin’ dynamite too many fuses to light ❜
❛ A thousand Fahrenheit’s and we’re about to ignite ❜
❛ We may never see tomorrow ❜
❛ If tonight’s our time to go, the one thing I know we’ll need a coin for the ferryman ❜
❛ And we can make it, but we take the chance of never coming back home   ❜
❛ The dice that we’ve been rollin’ where our lives are bitter stolen ❜
❛ Our kingdom come, on the run ❜
❛ One for the road and one for those who never leave ❜
❛ One for the Lord and take it from the devil ❜
❛ Don’t even try, ‘cause you know you can’t hide ❜
❛ Better run, better run, better run ❜

Song on Fire

❛ The first words that come out and I can see this song will be about you ❜
❛ I can’t believe that I can breathe without you but all I need to do is carry on. ❜
❛ The next line I write down and there’s a tear that falls between the pages ❜
❛ I know that pain’s supposed to heal in stages but it depends which one I’m standing on ❜
❛ I write lines down, then rip them up ❜
❛ Describing love can’t be this tough ❜
❛ I could set this song on fire, send it up in smoke ❜
❛ I could throw it in the river and watch it sink in slowly ❜
❛ Tie the pages to a plane and send it to the moon ❜
❛ I’m dying to show you this could end happily ever after ❜
❛ There doesn’t ever have to be disaster ❜
❛ And all you have to do is sing along ❜
❛ Impossible describing love ❜
❛ Light this old guitar on fire, I’d still hear the notes ❜
❛ Drown the melody in water, I’d still hear its ghost ❜
❛ Sing it with somebody else, but we’d be out of tune ❜
❛ Play it for the world, but it won’t mean much ❜

Must Be Nice

❛ One step, two step, electric slide, red fish, blue fish, blow your mind ❜
❛ Mama’s gonna let you set the moon on fire ❜
❛ Jack be nimble, jack be quick. Jack wound up with a broken neck ❜
❛ Humpty Dumpty, do your thing. ❜
❛ Daddy’s gonna buy you a diamond ring . ❜
❛ Oh, it must be nice to spend each day in paradise ❜
❛ You wonder why you’ve never failed ❜
❛ Your life’s a goddamn fairy tale ❜
❛ Suzie steamboat, you’re so fine ❜
❛ Grant the wish I wish tonight ❜
❛ Tinker tailor, whatcha’ got? ❜
❛ Wheels on the bus are falling off ❜
❛ Pretty maids all in a row. Yes, sir, yes, sir three bags full ❜
❛ Stick your diamond ring where the sun don’t shine ❜

After The Rain

❛ All your life’s scrambling, scurrying ❜
❛ Take your time rather than hurry ❜
❛ Never too late to write the rest of your story ❜
❛ Remember to breathe or else you’re gonna be sorry ❜
❛ Life’s no race, it’s a companion. Always face with reckless abandonment . ❜
❛ Everybody says that life takes patience but nobody wants to wait ❜
❛ Everybody says we need salvation but nobody wants to be saved ❜
❛ The blue sky’s we wait on are gonna have to come after the rain ❜
❛ Avoid the taste of wanting and wasteful ❜
❛ Every good thing will come in moderation ❜
❛ Envy and greed will only lead to frustration ❜
❛ Choose your friends, carefree and kindly. Choose your words, careful and wisely ❜
❛ Always be there to lend a comforting shoulder. One will be there to share again when you’re older ❜
❛ Old mistakes committed upon us. Always take a toll on the conscience ❜
❛ Every regret is a gift that you live with. Never forget to remember forgiveness ❜

For The River

❛ Stuck in a cage, luck of the draw. Always a way, gotta get out ❜
❛ Get me a key, pick me a lock. Gotta be free, ready or not ❜
❛ Gotta run, gotta run ❜
❛ Nowhere to hide, 'cause someone’s always gonna find you ❜
❛ Trying to breathe with everybody right behind you ❜
❛ Scattering leaves to try and cover up the footprints ❜
❛ Water ahead 'cause I can hear it in the distance ❜
❛ I’m running for the river ❜
❛ They’ll never catch me ❜
❛ You can ride, you can fly, you can tell 'em that you tried, but there ain’t no going back   ❜
❛ Tell 'em that you tried, but you’re never gonna catch me ❜
❛ Let off the hounds, stand off the guards. Never be found, better than bars ❜
❛ “Damn it, he’s a fast one” ❜
❛ Gotta be free, so don’t ever stop ❜

❛ Lying awake, did it again for Christ sake ❜
❛ Should’ve told her to go, and I know it but she tasted like home ❜
❛ I did what I did, can’t say hey man, I’m just a kid ❜
❛ Saw the lie in my eyes, couldn’t hide it ❜
❛ Oh, home ain’t what I call it ❜
❛ But I’m the only ghost walkin’ through the hallways ❜
❛ The pain gets so much clearer when the one to blame is standing in the mirror ❜
❛ This fool, this liar. Lit a match and set his life on fire ❜
❛ I guess I’d rather be alone In a house that’s not a home ❜
❛ The pain in my heart’s 'cause we’re a thousand miles apart ❜
❛ I’ve got no one to blame for the shame ❜
❛ I hope she’s waiting back home ❜
❛ Stupid to think that I could blame it on the drink ❜
❛ Now I’m trying to stall making calls to someone back home ❜
❛ I walk through the door and there’s no light on anymore ❜
❛ Must have known all along I was wrong ❜
❛ Cause there’s no one at home. No one’s waiting back home ❜
❛ The pain gets so much clearer ❜
❛ I guess I’d rather be alone ❜

The Betrayal (Act III)

❛ Table has been set. Serving up the worst regret ❜
❛ Waiting for the chance. ❜
❛ Serpents love the circumstance ❜
❛ Naming of your price. Payment for the sacrifice ❜
❛ Demon in your ear. Evil on your breath ❜
❛ You’ve brought the wolves right here ❜
❛ You’ve brought the kiss of death ❜
❛ You’ve just betrayed him ❜
❛ The moment we’ve all been waiting ❜
❛ You won’t believe until he’s gone ❜
❛ Your noose is waiting (No need to wait) ❜
❛ Go on, go on ❜
❛ Committed to your task. Jealousy behind your mask ❜
❛ Pieces are in place ❜
❛ Dealings that can’t be undone. Blood on your hands ❜
❛ Pawn inside the master plan ❜
❛ What have you gained? What have you done? ❜
❛ Nothing but shame and there’s nowhere to run ❜
❛ Who takes the blame? Why have they come? ❜
❛ What in God’s name have you done? ❜

Silent Majority

❛ How could this affect my life? ❜
❛ How could I affect the outcome? ❜
❛ So why even try. For what, for what, for what, for what? ❜
❛ A cowards can save the day. When the bravest of men just stand by ❜
❛ So what if we all stand up? What if we don’t give in? ❜
❛ What if we trade it all complacency for a voice that will be ignored? ❜
❛ How can we just give up? How can we just give in? ❜
❛ What if the silent majority wasn’t silent anymore? ❜
❛ A candle’s the smallest light. But a handful becomes a lighthouse ❜
❛ Cutting the night for us, ❜
❛ The one with the loudest voice Is really the one to follow ❜
❛ Silence the noise ❜
❛ Hurry up, the world needs this ❜
❛ Speak up now or we can pick up the pieces ❜

Everytime we’re together

❛ I’m back in my hometown ❜
❛ And Main Street’s dying now ❜
❛ It’s like there’s nothing left of it ❜
❛ No more high school grounds. They tore that building down ❜
❛ The backyard fire’s on ❜
❛ The years have come and gone. But the stories carry on ❜
❛ Looking back they’re better than they used to be ❜
❛ 'Cause you should have seen the size of the guys we were fighting ❜
❛ And we shouldn’t be alive at the speeds we were driving ❜
❛ But Mama always taught us to never tell a lie, ❜
❛ Every girl we were with never cost any money ❜
❛ And we drank more tequila than any man alive ❜
❛ And the story goes on and gets a little better. Every time we’re together ❜
❛ It’s funny how we change and some things stay the same ❜
❛ God, I miss the glory days always ❜
❛ Lord, I love the memories we’ve made ❜

littleandless  asked:

Hi PQ, Long time fan of your musings. Are you familiar with the Youtube videos of Preston Jacobs? He makes quite a convincing point about Quentyn being alive and the Dornish Master Plan. What's your take on his theories? Apologies if you've been asked this before.

I’m not a fan. Preston Jacobs used art in his videos (from which he makes money) without giving credit. His response to this being revealed was to accuse a number of people in the fandom, including some of my very favorite people here, of conspiring against him. As for his theories, IMO they’re pretty much the dictionary definition of “missing the forest for the trees.” They’re not grounded in character motivation or larger themes at all, and indeed, actively contradict them while blowing up tiny details to a ridiculously disproportionate degree. Quentyn is dead because everything about his story was leading up to his death; you have to completely miss the actual meaning of what’s going on to think that GRRM let him live and communicated that to us via the temperature at which leather burns.

> [Chen] “So your name is Tao? And your master is…?”
> [Tao] “The most powerful and revered being in this realm! He only shows himself to those who are worthy but I assure you he is very intimidating and handsome!”
> [Suho] “It sounds like you have a little crush on this master of yours.”
> [Tao] “What– No! I have no such thing! Now you will remain quiet until I take you to my master!”
> [Suho] “You’re the one who’s making all the noise…”
> [Chen] “A-Anyways, Tao, what exactly is your master planning to do with us?”
> [Tao] “I don’t know, but you troublemakers will most likely be punished for upsetting the natural order of things.”
> [Chen] “Er… Isn’t there another way? Won’t everything go back to normal if you just let us leave?”
> [Tao] “Leave? No one who enters this realm ever leaves! Which is why you there in the blue will receive an extra punishment for leaving the first time! The dead cannot simply go back to living, and the living cannot just visit the realm of the dead all willy-nilly, otherwise there would be countless people trying to bring the dead back to life! That’s why this realm is destined to become forgotten so such a thing won’t happen. Now if that’s all, you will be quiet, troublemakers!”

queen’s thief daemon au shit

because i’m too lazy to write a fic

  • irene was used to people asking what chares would settle as.  something pretty, perhaps, or something soft.  after her brothers’ deaths, chares settled into a king cobra instead.  rumors hold that it was his venom that killed her groom.  they’re not true, but irene lets them circulate.
  • eugenides was completely unsurprised when xenia settled into a housecat.  he would stick her in his tunic as they climbed sometimes, but their bond could stretch farther than anyone else’s he’s met, anyway; she can spy and steal for him.  once he loses his hand, she helps him hold down papers and get his arm through his sleeve.
  • costis thought alexandra would settle into a wolf or a dog.  instead he ended up with a bear.  he’d never even seen a bear, but she seems to scare the shit out of criminals, and her bulk will fill up a door enough that even the king can’t slip past her.  after particularly long days, she’ll carry him back to his rooms.
  • chares and xenia were awful around each other at first, sniping physically and verbally.  it’s chares who warms up to eugenides first, though; xenia avoids attolia altogether for months, and flinches if she gets too close
  • the first time costis sees eugenides touching the queen’s daemon he nearly punches him again, no matter that half the court is watching.  but chares apparently slithered around the king’s neck of his own accord.  the king looks very pleased with himself at the ensuing shocked silence, and for the rest of the meeting afterward.
  • xenia almost never talks to people, but she takes to costis immediately, addressing him when eugenides is busy in another room.  costis is alternately pleased and unsettled.
  • alexandra takes more than one arrow for the king and queen in their line of duty.  costis worries every time, but she always reminds him that he would do the same thing, so he can’t really scold her for it.  doesn’t make it any less awkward when the queen is injured and alexandra ends up carrying her.

Here it is! My crazy long Batfam fic (which I call a one-shot but is more like a series of progressive, sorta related vignettes). I’m pretty proud of it though just some warnings. Yeah I bend and outright break canon at a few points, please go easy on me. This is my first time writing for Batman so I did my best with the characters. That being said, I’m quite proud of it and would appreciate your input! Hope you enjoy and let me know how I can improve. I’d like to thank safety-dancer for not just reviewing but also inspiring me to write some batfam fluff that spiraled out of control into this.

Miss Madison called again Master Wayne; she was hoping you would be available for dinner tomorrow night. If I may, a night out away from the dark manor would probably do you a great deal of good.” Alfred said upon entering the parlor where his young charge stood tall and proud, recently returned from many years wandering.

I told you to tell Julia that I’m busy, indefinitely.” The only remaining Wayne said not turning to face the butler. He just continued staring at the hand painted picture of the once happy family over the fireplace. “I have more important things to worry about now.” Alfred bowed his head slightly.

I know sir, but I fear that it’s a decision you will come to regret in the future. A man isn’t much without a family there to support him.” He said quietly causing Bruce to give him a sharp glance over his shoulder.

There aren’t any regrets anymore Alfred,” he spun back to stare at the picture. “I don’t want a family Alfred, not again. I can’t risk it, it hurts too much. The only way I can do this, to save Gotham for them, is to go about this alone. I will never drag anyone else into this life of mine, that’s a promise Alfred, one I don’t plan on breaking anytime soon.”

The Heart is Silly Sometimes

I got this request about a month ago and never got to it. Sorry!! I REALLY need to set up a schedule to do these. To make up for my extreme tardiness, I’m gonna write another one to come out tomorrow. This one is set at the beginning-ish of season 5, with the Termites. And, sorry, but I gave reader a distinctive trait. I just thought it would work well for this imagine. Hope this is okay, Anon!

Prompt: Can I request and Imagine where the reader is in a room with someone and getting ready to kill them when Carl and Rick come in to clean out and take the reader which Carl is beginning to like??

Requested By: Anonymous

Characters: Carl Grimes x Reader

She went missing for four days. Four. In that time, she could have been dead. That’s all that Carl thought about.

He knew that she could handle herself. Hell, Y/N would leave the prison for days on end, just because she could. She didn’t like the amount of people after the mix of Woodbury and their group, and would head off on her own, most of the time without the group knowing. They would get pissed, and she promised not to do it again, and of course she would. But this time, everyone knew that she didn’t leave on her own accord.

Before the group ran from Terminus she was captured, and the group had to leave her behind. They were all devastated at the action, but they had no other choice. Carl’s mind had been on it since then.

The group made him walk. “We have to keep going,” they said. And he knew it to be true, but he couldn’t bring himself to. Not without her. So they made a compromise at the church. Two groups of two, searching for her and the Termites. The bulk of the group would stay behind, watch the camp. Keep it safe.

Today, it was Daryl and Glenn in one group. Rick and Carl were the other. They wouldn’t let Carl go normally, but he bugged Rick enough to search for once. Maggie was in charge to take care of Judith with the others. The sun was slowly setting in the sky that day and the Grimes boys hadn’t made headway with the search.

“We need to head back soon.” Rick told his son. They were in the woods, both of them holding their guns out.

“We still have time before the sun sets!” Carl argued. “C'mon, we can cover more ground then circle back.”

“Carl,” Rick pressed. “We need to go back.”

Carl set his eyes to the ground, anger slowly rising. This was the fourth day. If they didn’t find her soon…

“… Fine. But let’s go back on the left. That way we’ll cover it too.”

And so they went. Rick set the Python back into the holster as they trekked through the green. “I never realized how much Y/N meant to you.”

“Neither did I.” And it was the truth. He never realized how much he missed her bubbly laugher, her headstrong attitude, the way she tilted her head when she was confused. How her hair would bounce when she ran, or the distinctive scent it had that he was so used to. And it just felt wrong to be away from her.

A hand held out stopped Carl in his tracks. He was so lost in thought that he didn’t notice Rick stop and take out his gun. The teen took the silent hint and switched the safety off on his own. They knelt down, attempting to hide themselves in the green.

“You’re lost, aren’t you?” Sarcasm dripped from each syllable. “C'mon, I may be prisoner, but at least I know my way around a forest.”

The voice rung like bells in Carls’ ears. Y/N! He looked through the brush, excited. He saw her on the ground, her hands tied with rope. In front of her were a few Termites, each red in the face. Carl smirked; she was getting on their nerves.

“Shut up.” One of them said. He seemed to be the leader of the pack, which only consisted of three men. Two held out small handguns. The leader had a .38 revolver, and a henchmen held a .22 pistol. The third, another henchmen, only had a hatchet.

“Please.” Y/N rolled her eyes. “You guys don’t carry compasses around? A map, maybe? I mean, c'mon. You used them all the time to get a good meal.”

“I said shut up.” The, “ring leader,” growled. She was getting on his nerves. Carl’s fingers tightened around his gun.

Rick held Carl back and pressed a finger to his lips. Carl was antsy, he could tell. But not yet. They just needed a good opening. It was coming. So Rick flipped off the safety of his Python and set a bullet in the barrel.

“And I said I needed to pee ten minutes ago. Looks like we’re both disappointed.” Y/N gave a fake pout and jiggled her hands. Carl noticed that the itchy, tight rope around her wrists were digging into her skin, leaving angry red marks. His gaze of wonder hardened, and he gritted his teeth. He would make them pay.

“Besides,” Y/N sang out, “Why do you guys need me anyway? Seriously, all it’s not like my guys will bargain with you or anything. To bargain, they need to have something you want. And I highly doubt that they have anything of yours valuable.”

The leader turned to her and gave a wide smile. She grimaced. “They’ll come lookin’ for ya. They always come lookin’. And when they do, we’ll just give ‘em a nice round,” he waved the gun at her, “for dinner. I wonder what a bullet tastes like.”

“Oh, that’s your master plan?” She grinned back at the Termite. “You do realize that I’m no asset to them, right? I’m just a kid. An annoying kid. They won’t come looking.”

“That’s exactly why they’ll come. You’re a kid. If they’re as decent as Gareth thought, before you blew up our compound, they’ll be looking. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re in the forest now!”

“They’re not.” For once, Y/N was quiet. Her eyes went to the ground, and she kicked a mound of dirt. The man smirked, amused that he hit a nerve.

“Oh, don’t look so sad. We won’t kill them.” She looked up and raised an eyebrow. “We’ll eat them first. Tear off an arm here, saw off a leg there, let the food last. Y'know, I haven’t had Chinese in a while.”

Y/N glared at him. “He’s Korean.”

As the leader looked at her, Rick held up three fingers. “I get him, you go for the one on the left.” Carl nodded quietly, and held his gun up. Rick went down to two, fingers, then one, and the finger on the trigger pulled back.

The leader went down, and Y/N jumped back in her spot. The henchmen with the gun went down not a single second after, and Rick easily shot the one holding the hatchet. None of them saw it coming. Easy peasy.

Y/N looked to the bushes, sighing happily. “My heroes. Thank god, I haven’t had a chance to pee since this morning.”

“Glad to see you too, Y/N.” Rick gave a smirk at the comment. He and Carl stood from their spots, and Y/N held her hands out.

“Free me?” Carl hastily walked over and pulled at the ropes. When it wouldn’t let loose, he grabbed a knife and cut them off.

As the ropes gave out, she rubbed the angry marks and closed her eyes. “Finally. Those goddamn things hurt.”

“I bet.” Carl smiled at her. “Now c'mon, we need to get back to camp.”

“We have one of those?” She asked. She grabbed the .38 from the dead Termites hands.

“A new one, yeah. A church.” Rick answered.

“Better than nothing.” Y/N said. And they set off. “By the way, thanks for finding me. I was done with those pricks on the first day.”

“Don’t thank me. Thank Carl. He’s the one that didn’t give up on the search.” Rick said, pointing to his son as they walked.

“You did?” Y/N asked, turning to the other teen. He blushed, but nodded.

“Yeah.” He adjusted the sheriff hat on his head. “Can’t leave one of our own behind, y'know?”

“Thank you.” She gave him a kiss on his cheek, causing the red on his face to darken. Se smirked at his reaction, and his stomach did a flop. And he thought, the heart can be silly sometimes. And, he had to say, he enjoyed the silly.

Autumnal inspiration, literary curation

Happy birthday, lucky Libra! And what a lucky month it is: gift-giving Jupiter has moved into your sign and is setting up shop for the next twelve months. Use the power of this new moon for the dreams that have sitting on the back burner. You’re uniquely situated to direct its power to the areas of your life that need it the most, so don’t take this time for granted. Maybe you won’t realize that dream this month, or even this year, but taking those first few steps and being intentional about where you want to go will eventually make this a reality. Just take it from the author of your lucky book: biding her time as a young girl in the Pacific Northwest, an avid fan of rock before putting in the time and hard work to carve out a space for herself and her band. Now, Sleater-Kinney is hailed as one of the most iconic pioneers of rock music in this era. This is not to say she encountered zero struggles and coasted by on luck, Libra. But the obstacles she faced and hardships she endured gave her the strength and drive to create something larger than herself. It’s time to make moves, Libra. Put on your big kid boots, turn up the volume, and let’s go!

You’re playing things close to the chest this month, Scorpio, as you should. There are ideas and wishes brewing, but now is not the time to shout them from the rooftops. There’s a reason people tend to trust you with sensitive information - the same reason you know better than to count chickens before they’re hatched. You’re a master of discretion, and this month, that vital skill will come into play as you navigate through some pretty deep spiritual and psychological journeys and discover some truths about yourself. Be sure not to lose yourself in the process, though: keep your head on straight and keep your priorities and morals paramount. The last thing you want is to end up like Sue Trinder, so caught up in secrets and shadows that she loses track of what’s true and what isn’t. We aren’t pointing any fingers, Scorpio; we have your very best interests at heart, but the road to willful deception can be a slippery one. Be sure to use your powers for good this month, and enjoy your lucky book as a cautionary tale.

Dear Sag, if you aren’t already feeling refreshed by the gently falling leaves, cooler mornings, and the need for thick, comfy socks, you will soon. Summer was a busy time, bouncing from commitment to commitment, pushing yourself to go go go. You’ve planted many seeds, watered them with blood, sweat, and tears, but even now you find yourself struggling to slow down. Take this as permission from the universe to do just that! Give those seeds you planted time to grow: you’ll see results, just not today. Allow yourself to enjoy the life you’ve built for yourself: get a drink with your coworkers, take a long walk in the park, see a scary movie with a group of friends. Remember what life is about: creating connections, finding peace in simplicity, loving and laughing as often as you can. Your lucky book this month will force you to examine the trajectory you’re on, and readjust as necessary. What do you envision regretting, or being thankful for, in your final days? You have time: create the story you want to be told. You’re the only one who holds that power.

LUCKY BOOK: ON LIVING by Kerry Egan (10/25)

Ding, dong, October is here! I sure hope you’re ready, Cap. This month you’re going into battle, and if that sounds scary, good! A healthy dose of fear is often just what you need to stay sharp and focused. Your career is on the up and up, but only with some choice moves will you find yourself accepting opportunities you never even thought to dream of. And therein lies the tricky part, Cap: you already know from experience that going full speed towards what you want means sacrificing other important parts of your life. Each step closer to your ultimate goal is a step further from a goal you still aren’t sure you truly want. So, decide: what IS it you truly want? Don’t be fooled by the title of your lucky book: you know from experience that you can have your cake or you can eat it: never both at the same time. Enjoy these short stories in your downtime, Cap, and take the time for some careful self-examination. And when you’ve decided, it’s full speed ahead, no looking back. We believe in you.

I hope you haven’t packed up that passport just yet, Aquarius. This month, you’re deriving strength and inspiration from people and ideas that are unfamiliar to you, because sometimes the best way to approach a situation is with a brand new set of eyes. Whether you have the time and resources to jet off to another part of the world, or just need to adjust your thinking to a ‘foreign’ point of view, your relationships and professional life will benefit from your willingness to part ways with your normal way of conducting business. Consider General Lafayette, a Frenchman, total outsider to the American revolutionaries. He wasn’t afraid to travel far from home and align himself with people who were unfamiliar to him, simply because he believed in their dream of a united nation. Okay, Aquarius, maybe that stakes aren’t quite as high for you, but the point is, take it from Lafayette: being adventurous, going out on a limb, embracing the unknown - these are recipes for keeping your ideas fresh and your capacity for empathy and understanding much wider.

Problems and solutions, Pisces, problems and solutions. Not only are you hyper-focused on how to resolve the complications of life that are you holding you back, you’re giving yourself creative license to do so. This month, you’re playing to your strengths, using your imagination to dream up ways of tackling problems you may not have thought of before. And you know what? We’re really proud of you. It’s not just a brave move - it’s noble. Setting aside traditional methods in favor of instinct, of passion. The main characters in your lucky book understand that perfectly. They are not battered down by their losses, they create new ways to celebrate their loved ones: sharing stories, forging new connections, rejecting the standard narrative of grief. And by doing so, they are able to dream up a plan that honors the memories of those they lost, while beginning the healing process for themselves. Follow their lead, Pisces: you may be surprised to find what your creativity has in store for you!

Aries, it’s starting to get colder outside, so we don’t blame you for looking around for someone to cuddle with this winter - and possibly beyond. October is your month for partnerships, for collaboration, for ditching your phone for a while to catch up with an old friend, distraction-free. Or perhaps a potential suitor? Who you’ll run into, we can’t say, but be the social butterfly you know you can be. The lessons we learn from our relationships - successful or failed, enduring or abandoned - are some of the most meaningful and lasting lessons we’ll ever learn. As much as we try to convince ourselves, pretend that we’re satisfied being islands, the truth is, our connections to other people - romantic or not - are an inescapable part of who we are. Your lucky book this month explores this theme in twelve different ways, so take comfort in remembering that there are many ways of tapping into the power of collaboration and partnership unique to your sign this month. Maybe you haven’t discovered yours yet, and that’s just fine. Relax, and allow the universe to show you what it has in store. And don’t resist if the partner it has in mind for you isn’t quite who you expected - that’s all part of the fun.

When the going gets tough, Taurus gets going - isn’t that right? When you have your mind set on something, heavens help who- or whatever decides to get in your way. Sometimes this stubbornness can create problems for you, but this month, your goal is personal health, and that is a cause we can get behind. You’re committed to taking care of you, both internally and externally, and considering current events, not to mention everything happening in your life, this is an area that could use some extra attention. This might mean making some really difficult decisions that will benefit you in the long run, but hurt a considerable amount right now. It may mean opening yourself up to friendships that you’d otherwise reject out of fear, or a desire to stay isolated. In your lucky book this month, you’ll encounter characters who are trying to take care of themselves - at times, at the expense of others; other times, in service to them. It can be difficult to determine, in the moment, exactly who your actions are affecting and how - that knowledge tends to come later, when the dust has settled. But no one ever learned anything by doing nothing, so take courage, Taurus, and do what you need in order to keep yourself physically and emotionally fit. You get one life, and you’re the only one who gets to live it.

LUCKY BOOK: THE MOTHERS by Brit Bennett (10/11)

Well hello, dear Gemini. How is the fall treating you so far? We can see those hearts in your eyes from a mile away, and no wonder - this month, Cupid’s going into overdrive for you, and love is certainly in the air. It’s truly a beautiful thing, finding the beauty in the most mundane occurrences, feeling like you’re walking on air, bursting into song at inappropriate times. Even if you aren’t ready to share who’s captured your heart, or even admit to the fluttering beneath your ribs, your lucky book this month is an adorable meditation on the ways that love - especially unexpected love - can lift us from depths we thought we’d never climb out of. How often have you found yourself a point in your life where finding a steady source of comfort, acceptance, and affection seemed impossible? You felt like you were doing everything else right - or, at least, as best you could - but in this one area, a growing emptiness. Julie Klam can empathize with you, and while she did eventually find what she was looking for, it wasn’t necessarily in the shape you might expect. It’s important to remember, dear Gem, that love can come from the most unexpected places, and meet needs that you weren’t even aware you had. Perhaps there’s a greater lesson you need to learn before you find what you’ve been looking for - so this month, make sure you’re prepared to be taught!

Home. What does that word mean to you, Cancer? Comfort? Solitude? Conflict? This month will be a intense meditation on your personal interpretation of home, and how satisfied you are with the space you’ve carved out for yourself in the world. Have you been taking care of your space? What kind of energy are you waking up in, and coming back to every day? These aren’t questions that can be answered with a couple of IKEA trips and updates to your Pinterest board, and that’s okay! While you probably (hopefully!) cannot relate to the struggles the characters in your lucky book, the theme of forging a safe space for yourself in a dangerous world is one that will particularly resonate with you this month. Perhaps it’s time to leave the negligent landlord you’ve been battling for years, or maybe the piles of clothes and shoes you’ve allowed to multiply have overtaken your room. Whatever the issue, now is the time to make some definitive steps to making sure that you’re at peace with where (and how!) you live.

Up and at em, Leo! You’re feeling totally invigorated by the departure of the lazy days of summer and ready to make the most of this fall. Good for you! This month will be a productive one for you: you’re dotting i’s and crossing t’s and generally killing the organizational game. This isn’t unusual for you, but the way to get progress is to, well progress. Move forward. And that may mean leaving some old habits behind. Like making sure your desk is spotless and your inbox whittled down to zero. I know that on the surface these seem like markers of success, but the author of your lucky book this month would beg to differ. Think about it: why is it so important to you that everything be put it its place? What would happen if you let chaos reign - just for a day or two? The results may surprise you: the author argues that with messiness comes creativity, innovation, resilience - all of the things that make you you! However unorthodox this approach might seem, it’s worth paying attention to: this month is going to get seriously busy, especially towards the end, when holiday invitations begin pouring in, and it seems the only way to get through the day is by making a thousand to-do lists. I know a small part of you enjoys the challenge in trying to keep up, stay sane amidst the madness, but why not take on a new challenge, and see if getting a little messy unlocks a new layer of insight you hadn’t known was lying dormant this whole time? I think it’s worth a shot.

LUCKY BOOK: MESSY by Tim Harford

Buckle up, Virgo, because you’re in for quite the ride this month. Blame it on the moon: when it’s full, prepare yourself. Where everyone once seemed rosy and sublime, there will be tension and not a small amount of stress. And then, when you feel wrung dry, things will slip back to normal in the blink of an eye. Don’t say I didn’t warn you: be surefooted for the next few weeks, don’t make any rash decisions, always keeping in mind that the best laid plans might go temporarily awry. You can survive this, Virgo, it will just take patience, a good dose of humor, and a some perspective. And that’s exactly what you’ll find in this month’s lucky book. While we don’t anticipate one of your lows this month resulting in a social media scandal, it can help to read some extreme accounts of situations gone horribly wrong to remind you that your problems truly aren’t that bad. In the moment, right after realizing that you’ve said the wrong thing, or that you’ve angered the wrong person, it can feel like your world is crashing down around you. We totally understand that feeling. So take this opportunity to be proactive, instead of reactive: what steps can you take as you approach this month’s tasks to ensure minimal damage? If you know from the outset that the plans you’re making may fall apart, what’s your Plan B? You’ve got this, Virgo. We know you do.

Daddy Charming’s Deceptive Plot

@letmedieahooker posted the above left picture last week and @whimsicallyenchantedrose, @ilovemesomekillianjones and @flslp87 and allowed our imaginations to run wild.   We hope you enjoy our Capt Charming Friday fic.

Dang woman, what have you got me into now?  I just came out here for a little peace and quiet and a few kisses and now I’m sneaking around looking all over for a treasure.

To all the feminists out there...

At least those of you that don’t make me want to punch my fist through a brick wall…

We get it okay? Feminism is about “equality”

At least, that’s what it’s SUPPOSED to be about.

Nowadays a majority of the feminists I’ve encountered are man-hating extremists with racist/sexist views and tend to be LGBTQIA-phobes that I’d rather not interact with……mainly because dealing with their tendency to be emotional terrorists is exhausting and quite frankly it gives me a migraine

If you want me, and every self-proclaimed egalitarian/anti-feminist, to change our collective view on what a “real feminist” looks like, here’s a step-by-step on how to do that:

1) First of all stop calling us out, lashing at us, or acting like assholes toward us. It only helps to cement our view of feminists, which isn’t that great to begin with.

2) Take a second to LISTEN to what we’re saying: We don’t have some evil master plan to thwart your (sincere) attempts to raise awareness for equal rights. We actually support equality, with a passion, hence why we’re so vocal about not only women’s issues, but men’s as well, and for everyone in between that identify a little differently. Because TRUE equality helps EVERYONE, not just people with a vagina (said the owner of a vagina……in case you’re thinking of accusing me of being a misogynistic male blogger, I assure you I am not)

3) Recognize the REAL issue: Some of your “believers” are doing/saying things that are NOT what feminism is about, and in turn give the rest of the movement a bad name. Take into consideration that not all movements are 100% sincere and well-represented, therefore you need to keep an eye out for any misinterpretations. If you don’t want people to get the wrong idea of your movement, than make an effort to separate the fakes from the real thing.

4) Seriously stop snapping at US, and start snapping at YOUR TRAITOR “FEMINISTS”: WE are not the problem here, not truly, we may give you guys a “bad rep”, or so you think, but honestly the blame lies with the ones who have taken your movement and used it as an excuse to lash out and terrorize people that either A) didn’t deserve it or B) they’re being bullied in ways that make people question the lengths that feminists will go to in order to prove a point, even if it means resorting to violence and discrimination.

I don’t understand why this is so difficult.

We’re tired of taking the blame okay? It’s a wonder any of my fellow AF’s/egalitarian’s don’t completely lose their shit, the kind of backlash and hate we get is THAT extreme.

So please do us a favor? Don’t come to US to try and “solve” the issues within your own movement, go to the people that are CAUSING these issues. Tell THEM what they’re doing wrong.

Telling US gets you nowhere. It’s a waste of not only OUR time, but YOURS as well.

We are not the mom’s of Tumblr okay? It’s not our job to keep your young’ns in line.

P.S. - Stop acting like total assholes when you see that the URL of a post says “anti-feminism-pro-equality”, what are you? Like 5? This isn’t preschool, she doesn’t have cyber-cooties. Treating her like shit does NOTHING to help change our collective view of your “sisterhood”, if anything you’re making it worse. Just stop it already will ya?

(Fics of all ratings and lengths, some are WIPS, single chapters or completed, all definitely worth reading, more to come…)

(Part 2 Here)

(Part 3 here)

Out By Eight by Avelera - Bilbo invites Thorin to be his “boyfriend” at Lobelia’s annual Christmas party, in order to show up his relatives and convince everyone he is off the market. Thorin agrees, a bit more readily than Bilbo expected.

Room For Rent by Clearbluewater - $400 / 1 br 1 Bedroom Available for Midget

Fully furnished attic bedroom with really low ceilings available in a four bedroom house close to campus. You’d share the kitchen, living room, laundry room, and bathrooms with three male roommates, one giant wolf/bear/dog thing, and approximately 80 billion spiders.

The roommates are shitty. One of them is an alcoholic party animal, another is a seven-foot-tall brick shithouse who will break you in half if you look at him wrong, and I’m a business major trying to get my own company off the ground without the time for anyone’s bullshit, least of all yours.

Rent is $400 a month and you pay ¼ of the utilities, which will be around $45 a month. The attic is very spacious and not at all drafty, but like I said, the ceilings are low. Smoking is not allowed, but I do it anyways. You could have a pet, but it will probably get eaten by the Beast. Lease is for the spring semester, Jan to May. Call or email Thorin.

Will You Follow Me (One Last Time) by badskippy - Thorin asked ‘Will you follow me, one last time?“ But doesn’t QUITE get the response he expects …

Slice of Life series by Keelywolfe - Before meeting Dwarves, Bilbo would never have believed anyone could spend all their time indoors, if the inside of a mountain, particularly Erebor, could be called anything so bland as indoors. Away from the Sun would be more accurate, he supposed, and Bilbo had since learned that Dwarves could be content with just that for weeks at a time. Set in an altered universe where Bilbo is living in Erebor. (with sequel)

Lost he Wandered Under Leaves by Serenbach - Thorin son of Thrain is a struggling blacksmith descended from a fallen line of kings. In an attempt to provide for his family over the winter, he reluctantly accepts an impossible sounding task - to hunt down an enchanted deer that lives in the Old Forest that borders the Shire, and make armour and weapons from its hide and antlers. He never expected to succeed. And he certainly never expected what he found to change his life so completely.

Varudh by bubbysbub - Relationships are… hard. But Dwalin wants the Burglar, and what can Thorin possibly say to that? (Well, he tried saying 'No’ a few times, but that didn’t work and honestly? He’s a very pretty burglar…)  (Bilbo/Dwalin/Thorin)

The “Dying” Hobbit by Resacon1990 - "It’s just a cold,” Gandalf says the following morning when Bilbo wakes up feeling completely under the weather, “a few days rest in bed will do you good, dear fellow.” Or, the one where Bilbo has a cold and everyone thinks he’s dying.

Safe and Distant by Lindzzz - "Bilbo never bothers denying that he is a slight, little bit, probably infatuated with Thorin. It’s not something that bothers him. Really. He’s pretty sure that everyone very likely has a little flutter in their chest for the dwarf. He’s something grand and unattainable. And it’s really much safer if it stays that way.”

Comes Around Again by Scarletjedi - Gimli closes his eyes, an old Dwarf on the brink of death in the home he had built with his husband in the Undying Lands, and opens them again as a young Dwarf in his childhood home in Ered Luin. He’s returned to the tumultuous week before The Company set out to recruit their Burglar from his cosy hobbit hole. Gimli, once again a impetuous teen in the eyes of his family, must get into that Company–the lives of his loved ones, and the very fate of Middle Earth–depends on it. (THIS FIC <3)

Dear Mr Oakenshield by Ridel - Lobelia Sackville-Baggins is exactly the sort of person who thinks all problems can be solved with a good scolding and a clip around the ear hole. But the Dwarf who’d taken advantage of her cousins affections and sent her home in disgrace is hundreds of miles away. Oh well, an angry letter will have to suffice.

Honey I don’t Know (what you’re doing to me) by aspecialkindofhuman - “I have another idea,” he said slowly, fingers playing with the mithril draped across his chest. “Yes?” Gandalf prodded, grey brows knotting together. “In case he doesn’t –” Bilbo’s voice faded out and he toed the ground hesitantly. “What?” Thranduil asked, voice dripping with malice. “Continue, Halfling, or I will force the words out of you.” “Let him speak,” Bard cast the elf-king a side-eyed glance, before letting his gaze rest fully on the young hobbit. “What is it, Master Baggins? What is your plan should the Arkenstone fail to convince him?” Bilbo took a breath. Let it out. Took another and turned to Gandalf, cracking his knuckles nervously. “You’re not going to like it.” ~ Bilbo offers himself as a part of the trade for the Arkenstone to sweeten the pot and get Thorin to agree to peace.

Some Unexpected Guests by gigzazu - Upon his 33rd birthday, young Bilbo sets out to the north to settle his Mother’s affairs and sell the house she was keeping shortly before her death. Upon reaching the house, he is surprised to find it occupied by the starving prince of Erebor, and his sister’s orphaned sons. ((Pre-adventure AU story where Bilbo and Thorin meet before the quest for Erebor))

Stowaway by silverneko9lives0 - “When the company is in Rivendell, they encounter child Aragorn (Estel), who can’t help but be excited at meeting dwarves. One of the dwarves starts telling him about the quest, and Estel decides to follow them. Cue panicked Elrond who sends an Elvish army after them. I’ll leave it up to you how this influences everything else (though I’d prefer AU, not cannon).”

The Rescue of Prince Bilbo from The Slightly Overprotective Smaug the Greatest Calamity of this Age by denytheworld - Imagine your OTP in a prince and princess role, where the princely figure needs to rescue their princess from a dragon. Crack! In which Bilbo is a very pragmatic prince with a dragon and Thorin Oakenshield just can’t win.

effie214  asked:

"Is this the part where you reveal your grand master plan, because I tell you what, it'd be welcome right about now."

“I’m… working on it.”

Felicity rolled her eyes. “We’re literally hanging upside down a thousand feet in the air.”

“Not a thousand.”

“Oh, sorry, my mistake, Oliver. We are hanging upside down twelve stories in the air.”

“It’s never gone this cock-eyed before, honestly. Normally I kick through the window and… boom. There we are. Safe and sound.” Oliver sighed. “We’re going to have to try something.”

“Anything. Not trying anything means we just, you know, eventually wear out and fall to our deaths. And that’s a brand new kind of horrifying.”

“Just… hang on.”

Then he was firing an arrow and rocking them back and forth, building up momentum, and she was able to help, and then they were swinging through the air again.

The window broke this time and the collapsed together. Felicity rolled over and thought very hard about not vomiting.

“Well, that was…. interesting.”

“You know, before I met you, I had all sorts of ways of entertaining myself.”

Oliver laughed and pressed a kiss to her palm. “None so life-threatening, hm?”

“No,” Felicity admitted.

“Hey, we get back to the house alive, you want to do something from the pre-Arrow era? Like, I don’t know…. we could… play a video game or something.”

“If you’re looking for a Mario Kart rematch, I remind you what that did to our relationship last time…”

Trick or Treat - TWFI Outtake

Emma huffs out a rush of air, glaring at the ceiling before admitting defeat. “Killian?” she calls, trying not to let her frustration and disappointment get the better of her. “I need help.”

“Help with…” His voice trails off as he walks into the closet, his eyes raking over her. She flushes under his open admiration, clutching the troublesome garment to her chest.

“I wanted it to be a surprise,” she says lamely, one arm holding the fabric in place over her chest.

“You look bloody marvelous just the way you are.” His lips curve into a scandalous leer, his hip cocked out to lean against the door frame. He doesn’t look so bad himself, leather pants clinging to his legs and a snug waistcoat of bright red brocade showing off his trim waist. Most of the buttons of his shirt are left undone, and given how little the man wears a shirt it shouldn’t have this effect on her – but it does.
