‘Bucky, can you please come over?’

Bucky checked his phone when he heard the familiar sound of an incoming message. His brow furrowed at the sight.

“Gotta go” he mumbled hurriedly, and jumped up, grabbing his coat as he ran out the door to the elevator.

“Hey! Where are you goin’? Thought we were going out!” Sam yelled after him; but the elevator doors already closed.

“Don’t take it personally, Sam. It’s probably Y/N” Steve quipped with a smirk.

So it’s raining, and this little guy is just sitting there on the deck all floofed up….

There was originally around three or four of them but the other ones flew away leaving this poor chicken sitting there all by himself.

He seems pretty content - he’s calling softly and just being all cute.

Why u no find dry place birb? Why u sit in rain?

Hogwarts 8th year:

So McGonagall announces a surprise mock-NEWT in class one day and everyone is super stressing out and Harry accidentally snaps his quill because ‘are you shitting me, NEWTs are two months away, dammit.’

And then he can’t find a spare quill anywhere in his bag and next to him Ron looks like he might burst into tears and on the table across the aisle on his other side Hermione is vigorously bunching up her hair into a top knot while reciting every Transfiguration theory they’d learnt in the past five months under her breath, her expression fierce as fuck, and just looking at her makes Harry even more nervous because what the fuck was she murmuring about Trans-Species Transformations, had they even covered that?!

But McGonagall is already coming around handing out their tests and so he turns to Malfoy who’s sitting in front of him trying to cram in five months worth of notes in thirty seconds and taps him on the shoulder with a desperate, “Baby, you got an extra quill on you?” and Malfoy simply nods before feverishly rummaging through his bag and producing a slightly ruffled eagle feather quill and handing it over with a harassed, “Here, love”, before going back to tearing through his notes.

And then Harry hears an odd squeaking sound and turns to find Ron looking at him like he’d spontaneously turned into a giant spider and it’s only then he becomes aware of his exchange with his (still secret) boyfriend. Ron genuinely looks like he’s about to faint and Draco seems none the wiser as he accepts the test from McGonagall with trembling hands.

Ron makes a strangled choking sound up at McGonagall who sighs exasperatedly as she hands Harry and Ron their tests, “Now Mr. Weasley, do pull yourself together. Today’s results won’t count for your final grade.”

And honestly Harry can’t deal with any of this now because hell he loves Draco and doesn’t care what anyone says and why do mock-NEWTs even exist, like the actual ones weren’t bad enough and Ron is still staring at him in horror and Harry just grits out a, “We’re in love, mate, alright? Now close your mouth and fucking breathe before you faint and also, did we cover Trans-Species yet?” To which Ron just croaks out a, “I don’t know anything anymore, I need to lie down.”

My Life as a Cartoon Network Intern (and how I think you can Intern in Animation too!)

Over this past summer, I was given the amazing opportunity to be a Production Intern at Cartoon Network (I worked on Clarence; woo!)

Every once in a while I get people who either come up to me in person, or who message me on Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram etc. and ask me how I got the opportunity, and how they can intern in animation as well. Recently (Over the course of the last week or so) I’ve been asked a bunch, so I decided to create this massive master post in an attempt to get the information out to as many artists (and non-artists) as possible!

I know a lot of people who feel like getting into the animation industry is completely impossible, (I should know, I felt the exact same way not too long ago) and I also know just how LITTLE references there actually are on finding an internship, and beyond that, the type of experiences that people who gotten the chance to intern have had. I told myself that if I got the internship, I would try to change that, and here we are! (A little late, but I really want to make this as helpful as possible)

If you all could please Reblog this to your followers I would love it! You never know who’s looking and hopefully, I can help people with my experiences!

So to make it easier for people who don’t have the time to read all of my ramblings, AND for the sake of ease/reference; I’m going to break this post up into different sections: My Internship search My initial excitement/rejections - How I got the internship - My experience as an Intern and How Interning has helped me as an artist

My Internship search:

Halfway through last year (My Sophomore year of college) I had decided that I would take a leap of faith and apply for some internships. I didn’t expect much of it, but my hopes were high because I thought I had at least a halfway decent portfolio, and my resume had some pretty okay animation experience on it (I’m the head of the only Animation organization on campus) and I’m majoring in animation so I had some 3D experience and 2D experience (which I’ve worked on on my own time, since it’s what I want to do)

One of my biggest worries was the fact that I go to a state school: Southern Illinois University. The school is great, and I love it there, but I couldn’t afford art school, so I was very worried about how many opportunities there would be for me in Southern Illinois. Especially with the amount of amazing art that I see coming from people who go to schools like CalArs, Sheridan and the like. I was frustrated because I wasn’t there and felt like I would never get the opportunity to work in animation, which has been my dream since I could hold a pencil. Cartoons have changed my life, and they still do; but I was genuinely afraid that because I couldn’t afford a more art-related education, that I wouldn’t get the opportunity to tell stories like I’ve always dreamed. (But I digress)

As I was saying: I was doing all of your standard (I want/need a job) searches to try to find something in animation: Glassdoor, Internships.com, JOBS.com; stuff like that. FUN FACT: I’ve read every single Glassdoor review for both Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon. Every Job. All of them.

Some internships are a lot easier to find: Nickelodeon, Disney, Titmouse

While some are WAAAAAY more elusive: Cartoon Network…

This narrowed my search down from a bunch of animation studios.. to a handful. My candidates were: Nickelodeon, Dreamworks and Titmouse. (All wonderful animation studios!) Now here’s where it gets interesting:

 My initial excitement/Rejections:

I didn’t hear back from any of them! NOT ONE. Which I learned after a very long, VERY stressful waiting period. (At this time it was early to mid April) Now; I knew that I was really too young to be applying for the internships, (I’m young for my grade so I was 19 at the time) And I knew that all of these internships specified that they wanted a Junior or above, but I figured since the year was almost over and I had good grades that MAYBE, they would let me slide. But I had no real experience working in animation, and although my hopes were high, they were also reeeeeeeal low.

After waiting for the few weeks that I did, and not hearing a peep, I was dejected, frustrated, and I felt like there was no hope for me… Which leads us to…

HOW I GOT THE INTERNSHIP:

When it comes to how I actually GOT the job: The answer I want to give you guys is that it was complete luck, and that by a series of random occurrences, somehow I was offered the position…. BUT, that’s only half true. Honestly, I worked really hard on making sure that I had as good a résumé as I possibly could:

By that, I mean that I’ve worked really hard in school to get good grades/dean’s list/honors program, etc.; and I also started an animation organization on campus. (There’s a major, but there was a huge lack of enthusiasm and community within the program at SIU so I wanted to help to bring other artists and myself closer, and make great art while we’re at it)

On top of that, I wrote (what I think was) a really good cover letter. But… Even with all three of those things, I don’t know if I would have gotten the position if it wasn’t for the internship coordinator at my school. I go to Southern Illinois University, and she pointed me in the direction of the Cartoon Network internship. (The Turner website isn’t like Nickelodeon, they only post internships when there’s a position to be filled)

LUCKILY for me, the Producer of Clarence (The wonderful Keith Mack) is an alum from SIU, so he connected with the internship coordinator (bless her heart) and I learned exactly when the position opened up. My resume and things got sent straight to him. I got a Skype interview a couple of weeks later, and I got accepted the day of the interview!

So I mean… Looking back, it was half luck, half hard work.

It’s not like the grades and stuff really matter outside of college; Grades are just arbitrary letters, after all. But, I say that to say that I’ve tried to work hard in college even though I’m not at an art school, and that if you’re focused, it doesn’t really matter WHAT you’re good at; but how hard you work and the type of person you are. You can never go to college but be an amazing artist and an amazing person, and if you meet that ONE right person, or if you’re at that ONE correct place at the correct time; amazing things can happen; and I FIRMLY believe that.

While I was at CN I was talking to someone (I don’t know if it’s best to call her out by name?..) But anyway she was telling me about how some of the artists are found at CN and she told me that Tumblr, YES TUMBLR. Is a HUUUUUUUUGE factor in the hiring of some people! So if you can… POST POST POST! Putting your art out there is the absolute best way to get seen. You NEVER know who’s looking at your artwork, and this website is an amazing platform for sharing, and learning about art. (And as a shameless plug: The blog Artists-Everyday is actually meant for just that ;) check it ouuuuut)

But moving forward; let’s talk about:

THE INTERVIEW:

The interview to be an intern at CN was both really intimidating, and really comfortable at the same time. I love animation pretty much more than anything, so the idea that a single interview could determine whether or not I got a life-changing opportunity was pretty much one of the most daunting things that I could think of. The fact that I was in southern Illinois RIGHT at the time that I would have had to interview really didn’t help either… It was really scary to me, because it meant that I wasn’t going to be able to interview in person. It was a Skype interview, (a group one at that) and it was my first time ever interviewing for a position online.

Once I got past all of the initial fear, the interview was smooth sailing. They had already seen my resume and cover letter; so we really just spent a lot of time talking about casual things: my favorite animated movie, what my favorite episode of Clarence was, etc. It wasn’t like your usual interview where they ask “why would we hire you” or “what is your greatest weakness” and I really appreciated that. They weren’t robots, they weren’t the ANIMATION GODS like I was imagining in my head – they were actual people, who happen to love animation, and the interview reflected that.

I learned that I had gotten the position the day that I interviewed, and I’m SO GLAD I didn’t have to wait any more days, because at that point I was on fire on the inside. II don’t know what the hiring process was like for interns on different shows, so don’t take my word for how long it’ll take if you make it this far)

MY EXPERIENCE AS AN INTERN/HOW IT’S HELPED ME AS AN ARTIST:

There is no one word to describe how amazing it is to work at Cartoon Network. A lot of CN stuff is “hush hush” high security, and they don’t allow you to take pictures of the inside of the buildings - So I’m not going to say much, other than: It’s magic. Pure magic. But I will say one thing: Free food. AT ALL TIMES. EVERY DAY.

Working there is one of the most creatively satisfying things I’ve ever done in my life. The people, the atmosphere… it was all so inspiring. I’ve learned more in those past three months than I have in the last two years, and It’s all because I was surrounded by so many people who are better than me. People, who I might add, are some of the greatest, nicest, and most helpful people I’ve met in a long time. Plus, Cartoon Network really goes out on a limb to take care of their employees.

I got to sit in on voice actors doing their recordings, I got to see storyboard pitches, I got to see animatics and assets for episodes that were unaired, and it was all being created right in front of me by such PASSIONATE people.

I EVEN GOT TO MEET TOM KENNY. He remembered my name…

As a production intern you get to see the logistic side of things: and you really grow to appreciate Production and that side of the industry, because without the production team, there would be no show! Even though I want to be a storyboard artist, I now know more about the industry and Cartoon Network as a whole, and it makes me feel much more connected to the shows that I watch on television.

One of the other biggest things about the program is the fact that I got to take storyboard/character design tests for practice, and I got the chance to pitch a show to the studio, in front of the Clarence Crew and even some really important executives! which was an AMAZING opportunity that I learned a TON from. I got amazing feedback, and I had to push myself harder than I’ve ever pushed myself before. Mentally, artistically, and personally.

IN CONCLUSION

It’s possible. Being an intern at an animation studio is possible. Getting a job in animation is possible. Making friends in animation, and actually feeling like you belong to something you’ve dreamed about since you were a child is POSSIBLE. It doesn’t matter where you go to school, it doesn’t matter if you’re afraid, and it doesn’t matter what you look like. People are drawn to people who are genuine; and if you love animation, or production, or storyboarding or character design, and you work hard and try to really open yourself up artistically; you CAN do it. Take it from the 20 year old black guy who loves anime, video games and cartoons. You can do it.

I don’t know how many people will see this or how helpful it actually is; but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE feel free to share this info with your followers, and on top of that if you guys EVER have any questions about my experiences or need me to clarify anything for ANY reason you’re absolutely welcome to contact me!

I know how many people would love to intern, and I know (from experience) how DREADFUL It is to find conducive information about how the process works and how YOU can get an internship.

Hope you guys stuck with this post till the end, and like I said if you ever have any more questions, (hell, or if you even want to share YOUR art with me… I’m always open!)

TL;DR:                  This Gif Sums it Up

How to Adult: Cover Letter Edition

So I have several followers who are working on applying to jobs right now, and by far the most common concern is “what even is a cover letter??”  Now, while this post is funny and accurate, it’s not super helpful if you’re looking for specifics.  So I figured I should show you mine.  Now, without further ado, allow me to provide to you:

~*~ The Cover Letter of Destiny ~*~

[Name]
[Address Line 1]
[Address Line 2, etc]
[Phone]
[email]

[Right Justified - Date]  (This is just standard business letter stuff)

To Whom it May Concern, [Or Mr/Ms. Hiring Person’s name, if you can find it.]

I’m delighted to submit an application for the [Job you’re applying to] position at [Company/Institution/etc].  After reading the job description I’m certain I would bring a solid combination of  [Skill 1], analytical thinking [or whatever Skill 2 is], and communication skills [This is always my Skill 3] to this position.  I’m particularly attracted to this position because I believe it will utilize the skills I have gained through my industry [or research or whatever] experience, and allow me to apply those skills in new areas.

In my role with [Company] as a [Most Relevant Position Here], I managed a project [to do some stuff - flesh out your most important/relevant job responsibilities here].  I specifically focused on [a thing that is the most explicitly relevant to the job posting.  In fact, I creatively copy/pasted some of the job posting into this sentence, that’s how relevant it is.].  I was also responsible for [A couple of things that maybe were mentioned in the job posting, or at least show increased responsibility over time].  This gave me the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of different team members [to achieve a goal]. Through these and other job duties, I have gained excellent listening skills and the ability to carry out self-directed tasks in the context of a larger team. [i’m not joking. use this phrasing it’s so great just copy it idgaf]

In my current role as a [Current Title] with [Company], I have continued to build strong skills in project management [or whatever] as well as clear oral and written communication. [Maybe this sentence describes the types of communication (or whatever skill) you do.]   [This sentence describes briefly the less-relevant work you do].  [This sentence ties in your less-relevant job to the job you are seeking].  These experiences have prepared me well to succeed in a role as [Name of Position you’re applying to].

Thank you for taking the time to review my materials and consider my application. I am excited at the prospect of applying my skills to a [Name or category of position] with [Company], and I feel that the knowledge and skills I have gained through my experience will be a great benefit to the team. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions as I would welcome a chance to discuss this opportunity more. [After all, they want to hire you after reading this]

Regards,

 [First Name Last Name]

I hope you find this helpful in your job search!  Just remember to focus on skills you learned rather than specific experiences or titles you’ve had.  Don’t be afraid of inflating it too far, either.  There are real useful skills underlying every job task if you look hard & get creative with your phrasing.

Feel free to send me an ask if you want any specific advice on how to spin your education/work history into the job you want, or if you want a proofreader or cheerleader or whatever.  Job hunting is a bad game designed by and for a certain type of person.  It’s dehumanizing and horrible even at the best of times, so I’m more than happy to help anyone find a way to beat the system.  <3 <3

“Hey,” a large hand gripped your shoulder, shaking you gently, “Y/N wake up.” Grimacing, you pulled yourself away from Dean’s body looking up at Sam. He had a big smile on his face,  the alarm clock illuminating his face. Looking at the harsh, glaring, green numbers you groaned. It was barely six in the morning and Sam was ready to get going. “Get up, I wanna tell you something.” His voice was soft and timid, attempting not to wake his brother up.

“Okay, just give me a second.” You whispered back to him, getting up as slowly as you could, Dean simply turned away, pulling the crisp white sheets along with him.

Does Zero know Granger has his dick pierced?

lol this is funny because yes. that’s his dad so of course Zero has accidentally witnessed him in the nude from time to time while living under the same roof. Zero’s still traumatized by it tbh and has even side eyed him because he’s also aware of Granger’s tongue piercing and he’s just like ????????

no one wants to know that their parents are undercover hoes okay.. but he knows and has to deal with that imagery for the rest of his life.

Anonymous said: So i love your “protag breaking down in front of the antag” prompts, do you think you could maybe do some of the reverse? The antagonist breaking down in front of the protagonist?

dentist-why said:Could you do the villain breaking down in front of the hero because they don’t want to be a villain. (P.S. your blog is so good you are such a great writer.)

Anonymous said:Your protagonist breaking down in front of the antagonist prompts are fantastic! But, maybe to mix it up, could we get some antagonist breaking down in front of the protagonist prompts? (Unless they’ve been done before, I mean)

1) It wasn’t an obvious or sudden shattering. There were no tears, no screams, no heaving breaths. But something in them seemed to have just crumpled. And people could make a lot of jokes about the antagonist being heartless but they weren’t hollow like that. The hero watched it happen, barely aware of it at first - the way a person didn’t notice a cliff being eroded or the colour leeching from an old painting when they saw it so slowly.

2) “Go on then,” the villain said. They wet their lips, eyes aglow with an almost mania, a fever. “Kill me.”
It was a horrible moment to realize that they weren’t being taunted or mocked or dared - they were being begged.

3) “Tell me what happened, please.”
“What does it matter?”
“Of course, it matters. I’ll-”
“You’ll what?” the villain tried for a smirk, but it was all wobbly and then pressed thin as if desperate to hold back a sob. They swallowed hard. “It’s not crime when it happens to bad people, it’s justice. Karma. Just the way the story goes.”
“You don’t actually believe that.”
The villain glanced up, the look on their expression heartbreaking. Because oh, they actually did. And oh, they looked terrified.
The hero’s teeth gritted, and they crowded a little closer, lowered their voice. “Look. If someone’s hurt you - told you that - if someone’s got something on you-”
“Oh, don’t you know, hero?” this time, their voice really did crack. “No one’s ever got anything on me.”
It was enough, they’d seize hold of the antagonist in a moment. “Let me help you.” An order, not a plea this time.

4) Being them, they weren’t allowed to splinter. They didn’t have friends to fall back on, they didn’t have a safety net, the people of their court had no mercy towards the weak or the stumbling. To slip, to mistep, even an inch was to beg the wolves to fall on his throat. In a room of predators there always had to be prey and they’d vowed never to be prey again. They would never be seen as weak again.
“I’m sorry,” they said, as the protagonist’s door opened. “I know I shouldn’t be here. This was a terrible idea-” they took a step back, regretting coming already. It was foolish.
The protagonist caught their arm and reeled them inside. Gently. So gently.
It was the gentleness that did it and the next second the antagonist was in tears. Hideous, world bent out of shape, tears.

5) “I’m fine,” the antagonist said.
“Okay.”
“I’m fine.” They’d just said that, and the protagonist was starting to look concerned. “Just fine. Everything’s going to be fine.” Oh god, they couldn’t stop saying it, couldn’t stop gabbling it, couldn’t breathe over it choking on that word. Fine, fine, fine, always perfectly fine.

6) The villain’s lungs strained for air as the hero slammed them up against the wall, face inches away. Fear licked up their spine.
“You’re sorry?” the hero spat. “Sorry doesn’t even begin to cover what you’re going to be for what you’ve done. You don’t get to cry over your guilt - you’re not one who got hurt.”

7) They knew it was wrong, they knew they shouldn’t like seeing the antagonist like this. A shell of themselves, fragile, held together by stitches. But oh they were so pliant like this. So scared of doing wrong and so desperately needing reassurance.
“I forgive you.”
“It’s going to be okay.”
“You’re not a monster.”
The hero had never felt so addictively needed in their life, so redemptive, so powerful to have the villain breathless and overwhelmed with the smallest of kindnesses. They felt like god.

one of the first things even notices about isak on the first day of school is his hair. they’re in the school yard and it’s still summer and the sun makes the lock of hair covering his forehead appear golden. what even doesn’t expect is for isak’s hair to be as soft as it is, not only when he runs his fingers through it, but also when isak nestles his head against the crook of his neck, rests it against his chest when they sleep. he doesn’t expect it to smell the way it does, like men’s shampoo and sweetness and isak, but he can’t get enough it, finds himself nuzzling isak’s hair and inhaling deep, finds himself looking for traces of his scent in his pillows when isak doesn’t spend the night at his place

he notices isak’s mouth, the shape of his lips, his cupid’s bow and how soft his bottom lip appears. even doesn’t expect the feeling of isak’s lips forming a smile against his left cheek, doesn’t expect the sensation alone to pull a smile out of him. he doesn’t expect the words isak whispers close his neck to land on his skin like soothing wafts of springtime breeze. he doesn’t expect him to plant so many kisses on his shoulder when they watch a movie and cuddle, wrapped up in each other (ten, fifteen, forty - even stops counting). he’s not surprised by the wisdom that comes out of isak’s mouth, but he doesn’t expect it to reach his soul the way it does. he’s also not surprised by the fact that he enjoys kissing isak so much, but he doesn’t expect isak’s mouth to taste like coming home, every single time

even notices isak’s eyes, notices how gorgeous their shape and their colour are, is quite mesmerized by them. he doesn’t expect isak’s eyelashes to tickle the tip of his thumb as he flickers his eyes open, even’s hand cupping his cheek as he watches him wake up. he doesn’t expect them to hold isak’s most beautiful smile and his most sincere i love you. he doesn’t expect them to speak to him the way they do, doesn’t expect to be able to read isak like an open book simply by looking into his eyes, doesn’t expect to be the only one to have that ability (isak asks him ”how do you do it?” a bit of confusion and a lot of wonder in his voice). he doesn’t expect isak’s eyes to be able to read him the same way, too

even notices isak’s hands, how they’re never quite still, often holding something. he doesn’t expect isak’s hand to hold his in public the first time it does. he told himself he’d let isak make that step. and once, as they were taking the bus home, they sat next to each other, and isak placed his hand over even’s, interlacing their fingers. he doesn’t expect his hand to be so comforting when he runs it up and down his back, and when the tip of isak’s fingers softly stroke the skin behind his ears. he doesn’t expect isak to gently squeeze his forearm one time, randomly, doesn’t expect to immediately understand that it’s one of his many ways of saying i’m glad you’re here

even notices that isak always looks beautiful. but he doesn’t quite expect to be amazed by his beauty without having to look at him, doesn’t expect to so quickly realize that isak is even more beautiful on the inside. he doesn’t quite expect isak’s heart of gold and his selflessness, his patience and his kindness. his forgiving nature and his desire to become better, always. he doesn’t expect isak’s love to be so genuine and pure and always growing. even doesn’t expect this love to be something isak could feel for him, all of him. but it is, isak reminds him. and although isak’s love is something he has learned to expect over time, it’s still something that fills heart with happiness and contentment and gratitude, every single day

sorakhhikari98  asked:

I know that this kinda pervy to ask but is Keith naked under that blade of Marmora suit? Like it's impossible to walk around with clothes under that suit. And now that I see it it must be really painful when they kick him around his body.

Uuuuuh….. if he was naked under the BoM suit then he would have also been naked underneath his normal space suit? That one is pretty tight fitting too - all the white parts of the armor get put on after you already wear the black suit. And I refuse to believe that he’s not wearing anything underneath that, he probably wears at least some tight fitting underwear and a shirt beneath it (and therefore also underneath the BoM suit).

The BoM suit itself is very interesting though:

Look at this. In the very first pic he just got his wound but the suit is closed. It closes itself again over open wounds and probably puts pressure on them to stop their bleeding. It’s not completely successful as the second image shows - the “gash” (aka the amount of blood coming through the suit) has grown bigger. But the suit has probably helped him in fighting through the pain, it is an armor after all. I don’t think it did much against the pain for kicks etc though :I
