So I keep going on about this but what I love so much about Wonder Woman, about Diana, is that she is kind. She is so kind.

And yes, sure, Superman is kind, (at least most adaptations of Superman), but what gets me about Diana is the little things. Pretty much every person she runs in to, she wants to help them.

The small moments that got me in the movie were when she listened to people, really listened, and tried as best she could to help them.

When she has her super determined face on, ready to go to war and then stops because “Baby!” and runs over to hold the baby.

When she sees a man in agony her first instinct is to help, even when most people are running away.

When a poor woman who does not speak the language of anyone else around her latches on and begs her to help, Diana doesn’t tell her she has more important things to do. She breaks off her mission to save the few she can.

When Charlie is being hard on himself because he thinks he’s broken and useless from war flashbacks, Diana asks “who will sing for us?” She, who has valued the art of fighting all her life, does not belittle someone for being too scared, she gives them value regardless.

I love so many things about this movie, but the small moments of genuine care and kindness for people she doesn’t even know, especially in a time of war (real, terrifying, soul-scarring war) really get me.

Just because it’s the path of least resistance, doesn’t mean it’s the wrong path.
Staying together is more important than how we stay together.

Natasha is the leader of the Avengers in many ways. […] In this movie, she has the most matured point of view of any of the characters. What fascinating about her is that she is a reformed villain, so she has an understanding of life in a way that other characters don’t. She has an empathy. She can see both sides in a way that not everyone else can. She is the middle ground of maturity. [Captain America Civil War Audio Commentary]

“ugh. you LOVE me?”
“don’t make that face. it’s not like i want to. you’re loud and you talk too much about television for an adult and every single member of your family has friended me on facebook despite the fact that i’ve never spoken to most of them, and most of them have very poor punctuation. in fact, this whole situation is very embarrassing. like herpes. but like herpes, i don’t think it’s curable without taking action. so here i am. telling you. i love you.”
“can you even hear yourself right now?”
“so … what are your thoughts?”
“what are my thoughts? about your i-love-you-like-herpes speech?? which, p.s., herpes is incurable. that shit’s always gonna flare up again.”
“exactly. the metaphor is appropriate.”

Congratulations to Viola Davis on her Oscar win for ‘Best Actress in a Supporting Role’ as Rose Maxson in the film ‘Fences’ (2016) directed by Denzel Washington at the 89th Annual Academy Awards.

Thank you to the Academy. You know, there’s one place that all the people with the greatest potential are gathered. One place and that’s the graveyard. People ask me all the time, what kind of stories do you want to tell, Viola? And I say, exhume those bodies. Exhume those stories. The stories of the people who dreamed big and never saw those dreams to fruition. People who fell in love and lost. I became an artist—and thank God I did—because we are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life. So, here’s to August Wilson, who exhumed and exalted the ordinary people.

WONDER WOMAN: MORE THAN WONDERFUL

Ever since the first trailer came out, I could not stop waiting for this movie. Finally, on June 1st, it arrived in cinemas.

And even without a night of sleep, I pulled my closest friends to the theater to go see it. What I found? A movie that did not disappoint. Most people always disagree with me when I say I am a DC fan. Seriously? Why do they always have to compare to Marvel? Can’t we all just appreciate the superhero movies equally?

With that being said, let’s take a look at everything I loved about Wonder Woman.

*Warning: Spoilers ahead. *

1. LITTLE DIANA

Bless this beautiful, beautiful child. She did a great job of playing a young Diana. I think the audience gave a collective, “Awww” when she appeared. With her doing cute little kicks and punches, it just added to the overall cuteness. But then she gives you this smirk and you know that the Princess of the Amazons is also a stubborn, sassy little girl who knows what she wants and goes after it.

2. EPIC FIGHT SCENES

The trailer alone showed some great potential in the fight department, but actually seeing everything on the big screen gives you this whole new feeling! It’s the “holy-shit- I- can’t- breathe” feeling. The kind where you stare with eyes wide open because you’re afraid that if you blink, you’re gonna miss something cool. The first few minutes of the movie, with the amazon warriors fighting off Germans on the shores of Themyscira (thank you, Steve) was amazing! We also see Queen Hippolyta and Antiope in action. (side note: my fave part would have to be her jumping onto a make shift shield that Steve grabbed and killing a sniper, taking down the whole top of the church doing so).

Bruce got nothing on that lasso.

3. Steve Trevor

I love Chris Pine. I have loved him ever since he came out in “Princess Diaries 2” and “Just My Luck”, when I was still a teenager in high school. And then he went and became Captain Kirk in Star Trek, and my fangirl heart could not help but love him more. Now, he has proven again how great he is by playing the charming, fearless, and disobedient Captain Steve Trevor.

I’m so glad he chose to do this over Green Lantern! He was great when they were using the Lasso of Truth on him, but the funniest part for me was when Diana dropped by while he was taking a bath.

Diana: Are you a prime example of the average man? (or something like that)

Steve: No, I’m above average.

4. Gal Gadot

Unlike most people, I had nothing against Gal (or her allegedly small boobs *insert snort*) when she was first cast as Wonder Woman. Honestly, I was more concerned with how the story would go, but damn. She proved everyone wrong. She played the role perfectly. Perfectly. I am not joking. I cannot imagine anyone else who would’ve done a spectacular job as her. (And take note, she was pregnant whilst shooting this).

She could be fierce, emotional, humorous. She lighted up the screen, man. Figuratively and literally. And yes, she rocked that costume! Ugh that costume! At first, I was skeptical. After all, I am a big fun of the comics, and I sometimes hate it when they change these iconic things about characters (e.g. Barry Allen not being blonde in the TV series or the movie). But I came to love it. It showed more of her Amazonian roots than her iconic outfit in the animated series before.

5. No Man’s Land

This was the best scene/ segment of the movie for me. I had goosebumps watching her climb up to No Man’s Land. Add that to the fact that Steve tells her the soldiers have been there for nearly a year and haven’t gain an inch, yet she just strolls up there like is a fcking field of lilies and is dodging bullets better than The Matrix. My heart. My fangirl heart.

Everything about it was so right. You have these bleak, grey landscape and yet Wonder Woman is wearing such vibrant colors. Then there are these slow- motion sequence where she’s blocking the bullets like some sort of freaking Jedi. And her shield seems to like glow while she’s getting hit with a machine gun and and and she’s dodging those bombs like they’re nothing. Nothingggggg. Then everyone else follows her and charges at the enemies. And I’m just sitting there like:

Up to now, my feels are still overwhelming. The story was great, the cast was great AND THE DIRECTOR, PATTY JENKINS. YOU ARE A BLESSING FROM GOD. I cannot wait for the Justice League movie. DC got this right, and hopefully, they keep getting it right.

I think what gets me about Rogue One is that for the first time, we have a Star Wars movie that feels like we’re witnessing a war.

The body count is high, characters we come to know and love die violently and suddenly, there’s children caught in the crossfire, nameless soldiers get slaughtered left and right, characters suffer from PTSD, the heroes do shady shit like assassinations and sabotage, you feel the Rebels’ fear of the Death Star, and so on.

Like, you never really felt the cost of war in the other 7 movies. Yeah, there were battles but for the most part, you were watching a fun, escapist sci-fi movie. But Rogue One is a wake up call in that while this is still Star Wars, wars have prices to pay. It’s not all fun and games when you have to actually consider all the deaths and destruction that comes from war.

What Is The Shape Of Your Monster? – Get Out and Thought-out Horror

Get out.

No, I’m dead serious. If you haven’t already seen Jordan Peele’s Get Out yet, I need you to do me a massive favor. I need you to bookmark this page, close this page, and absolutely do not read this page— or any other essay or article on Get Out— until you’ve finished watching it.

I’m not just saying this because this essay will contain major spoilers for a movie that is best enjoyed going in knowing as little as possible— I mean, yes, it will— but most of all I just want as many people to see this movie as possible. It is by far the most socially relevant American movie to come out this year, at time of writing, if not one of the most socially relevant pieces of American art of the past decade.

It’s also just a very good movie.

  • Wonder Woman herself: It's about what you believe. And I believe in love. Only love will truly save the world.
  • Black Panther himself: Vengeance has consumed you. It's consuming them. I'm done letting it consume me.
  • Internet which wouldn't deserve either: *pits Wonder Woman and Black Panther against one another, two of the most relevant movies in all genres (not just in the superhero business) in the last few years because they're gonna inspire children all over the world who never had anything like them be the hero before, even though there's literally half a year between the two movies if anything to fire their idiotic DC vs Marvel thing*
Despicable Me is so important

if you follow my blog at all you’ll know that I absolutely fucking love Despicable Me. Like… LOVE. It’s one of my favorite movies of all time. The writing, the comedy, the timing, the animation; it’s all incredibly well put together.

In fact, I’m a fan of Illumination Studios in general.

Granted, I’m not a fan of their movies.

LE GASP you say. How can you be a fan of a studio but not all their movies

Becuase, dear reader, their movies lack a lot of things. And, for the most part, many of their movies aren’t really displays of “We Do What We Want”. They’re more “We Do What the Audience Wants.” Which… sort of makes sense. They’re a new studio. They don’t have the funds to really take huge risks yet. But god, their audience-pleasing choices can be so….

Fireworks - H.S.

“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” I mumble. The twinkling lights are mesmerizing and I just can’t seem to focus on anyone else, not even the amazing man beside me that brought me here tonight. When Harry only hums a response, I take my gaze off the fireworks ahead of me and stare at his sharp jawline.

Lately Harry had been acting differently. At first I noticed little things, like him closing off and disappearing into his own head for short amounts of time, but after a while he started raising these walls around him, pretending to be someone who is not even though the real Harry I had met two years prior was something I wish everyone had in his life.

Of course, Harry did not only have a name to keep, but also a reputation. Yes, he was pictured as a womanizer and I think he did won best dressed male again last year, although I don’t keep up with that. I keep up with what actual Harry is up too, what ticks him, what he enjoys doing. Most of the things the media bring to attention aren’t very good small details of a bigger picture.

I think that’s why this friendship works so damn well. That might also be the absolute number one reason I fell madly in love with this man. I’d never risk anything to put our friendship in jeopardy, because I honestly believe I’d never find someone like him, ever again. He was the only real thing in a world filled with lies and misinterpretations.

I’m actually terrified I’ll never get to see the real Harry again. And whatever I try, I just can’t seem to get through to him. So when he appeared at my door, giant grin on his rosy lips and a bottle of expensive champagne held up in one hand, I couldn’t decline.

“Why are you staring at me like that?” Harry laughs, pulling his bottom lip between his pearly white teeth before his glance is cast in my direction. I can feel the rosy hue appear on my cheeks, but they’re transparent to Harry’s gaze due to the harsh lighting of the fireworks going off in front of us.

“This lighting is doing you good.” I decide to go with a true compliment, although that wasn’t initially on my mind. I love the smile that it draws on his lips, the way his eyes crinkle and how he then casts his glance away. “Do you say that to all men?”

“Only you.” I shrug my shoulders with a grin and let a shriek flow from my lips when I feel Harry’s elbow collide with my ribs. “Hey, I gave you a really nice compliment and this is how you repay me?”
“What do you want to hear? How beautiful you look? You always do, Y/n.” Harry huffs as he rolls his eyes and fixates his gaze back onto the sparkly lights disappearing as quickly as they appear.

“You’re one of the most kind-hearted people I know Harry, you deserve all of this success you’re receiving, you know that right?” I decide to bring up the new single, the one that’s supposed to come out in just a few hours – at midnight to be exact. He hadn’t mentioned it since I had heard it when he had initially finished it. It was his baby, his first solo record and he didn’t seem to utter another word about it. It had been months and it saddened me because it was so damn good.

“How is that new man of yours?” Harry’s voice changes tone, and when I decide to peek I see the frown that has set onto his eyebrow. I guess we’re still not talking about it, and I decide to drop it. Last time I had tried to initiate conversation we ended up not speaking to each other for almost two weeks. Which were the worst two weeks of my life, really. “That’s over and done with, didn’t I mention that?”

“Well no, you didn’t.” Harry sighs and I see the small smile tug at his lips. I scoot a little bit closer to Harry, although I’m not sure why. “Well, sorry then.”
“Why did you break up? I thought you liked him.” Harry throws his arm around my shoulder and I lay my head on his shoulder, taking in a deep breath as I focus back on the popping flashing of light.

“I never really did, I think.” I mumble, dropping my hand onto Harry’s knee and giving it a firm squeeze. “I’m searching for something else.” I finish off, feeling my heart throb in my throat. Indirectly, in my own head, I had confessed my love for Harry. He would never see it as such, but that didn’t take away any of the anxiety coursing through my body.

“Well it’s great that you know what you want.”

“Don’t you know what you want?”

“Yeah, but I’m sure she hasn’t even given it a thought. I think I’m nothing more to her than just a really good friend.”

“Who says that? Harry if you want this girl, go and get her. Do you even realize how amazing you are? You always put me up when I’m down. You watch the most horrifying movies with me whenever I want to, without any complaint. You once showed up at my door just because I sounded blue to you on the phone. I’m sure whatever girl you want is just as madly in love with you as you are with her.” I grin, squeezing his knee for emphasis as I let my eyes dart along the sky, trying to follow every firework going off.

“Do you know what sign of the times is about?” Harry suddenly questions and I feel myself stiffen in his embrace as he for the first time in weeks talks about his song or upcoming album.
“Well I interpreted it as hope.” I decide to voice my own thoughts and feelings as simply as possible.

“That’s the great part of it. I think – in whatever time of your life you are, it might – I don’t know – can be interpreted in whatever way it suits you.” Harry starts to stumble over his words as if he were nervous, his ring clad fingers toying with his jeans as he avoids my gaze as well as the sounds going on around us.

“So you’re saying I’m hoping for something?” I smile, somewhat feeling my own nerves bubbling in my stomach as I pull away from Harry, smiling brightly at his twinkling eyes.

“Yeah, you could say it like that. But I think we all hope something, right?” Harry grins right back at me and I slowly let my eyes close, nodding once, but firmly at his statement – or question.

“Hm.” I agree verbally, wanting to lay my head again against his shoulder but he stops me, his eyes searching mine tentatively as I keep frozen in my spot. I let a low breath slip past my opened lips, my tongue darting out to wet them before I suck my bottom lip into my mouth, slowly biting down on it.

Something seems to click in Harry’s mind and before I can completely comprehend what is happening or is about to happen, Harry leans in but hovers right before his lips are about to meet mine. He lets me decide if I want this – if I want to kiss him and as soon as my brain has caught up to current events, I lean the short distance and press my lips firmly against his.

Harry’s large hand cups my cheek and for a second I feel like I might burst out into tears of happiness, but instead I settle for a large grin which almost breaks up our kiss. I feel the vibrations of Harry’s chuckle against my lips as my eyelids flutter.

Harry pulls away, keeping his hand in place, as he seems to catch his breath. His lips press to mine once more in a gentle, simple peck right as the last few fireworks make their last pop in front of us, illuminating the dark night sky.

@majamy03 OKAY (spoiler warning???)

FIRST OF ALL, the Joker was written in a way that made him so obviously a gay character, at least if you ask me, and the hero/villain relationship between Batman and the Joker was treated like they were a couple

The entire plot happens because it’s all Joker trying to make Batman acknowledge their relationship and admit there’s something special between them

Literally all of Joker’s motivation to do what he does is to make Batman think of him the same way he thinks of him

He literally “breaks up” with Batman at one part because Batman wouldn’t say “I hate you too” when Joker said “I hate you, now, you say it”.

Istg Batman made him cry like, 3 times because he kept rejecting him

Theres a really gay, sunset scene with them at the end too tho where Batman finally admits he feels the same way. As this sun is setting dramatically they have this entire “I hate you” “I hate you more” “I hate you most” “I hate you forever~” thing.
(Since its a hero/villain dynamic they say I hate you instead of I love you but it’s still said in this stupid, loving tone that murders my soul)

just good golly man.

Batman lovingly tapping Joker’s chin and saying something like “I’ll see you around” almost killed me?

Also Robin, before he knew Bruce Wayne and Batman were the same person, thought he had TWO dad’s and was super excited about it which was precious as hell

want to know me better? send me a number! (:

'Logan' Breakout Dafne Keen on Audition Embarrassment and Her X-23 Future

1. She comes from a film-friendly family. Keen is the daughter of British actor Will Keen (The Crown, Wolf Hall) and Spanish actress Maria Fernandez Ache, with multiple directors and writers in her extended family. “I remember spending entire school holidays in rehearsing spaces, watching my mum and dad working, and followed them around on tour or on film sets all the time,” she tells Heat Vision. “I went to see Hamlet, which they directed about 10 times, and I always loved it. I remember I used to listen to the actors rehearsing and try to remember all their lines while I played with the color filters they put in the lights.” From her parents, she says, she’s learned about “being truthful, and the most important thing being telling the story, and all working together for the same thing. I love that.” (x)

Just a warning to Juvia fans about the Dragon Cry movie. From what I read, Juvia has little, to no seriousness in this movie. She does have two different fights: the unison strip one with Gray where she ultimately helps/saves him after he’s hurt (probably with that love attack we saw in the trailer), and one with Lucy and Wendy.

So, she gets two fights, which is AWESOME, and more than she really got in the first movie. But she’s also basically in delusion/fantasy/love rival/fangirl mode throughout most, if not all of the film.

But guess what? From what I read on twitter, the Japanese fans LOVE that about her. There was a steady stream of “cute Juvia” all day coming from those who watched the screenings, people thanking Mashima for having her be so cute and funny, and even thanking him for her love rival delusions and fantasies. They LIKE Juvia that way. Again, it’s a difference between Western and Japanese tastes/cultures.

So, just a heads up, if you’re expecting serious Juvia, you’re not likely to get much, or any of it in the film. She’s largely a tension breaker and comedy relief in this film, because that’s what the Japanese like. However, it did lead to some cute Gruvia (the hugging), and also some badass Juvia likely saving Gray (the love attack from the trailer that looked so pretty), and she also seems to be in the film a lot (and probably more than she was present in the first one).

It was a fanservice/action-packed movie. We got our serious Juvia throughout nearly this entire war arc that’s still currently going on. And this movie takes place just before the war arc, so it’s just before things get really intense.

Therefore, it’s been a long time since we’ve actually had comedic Juvia in the main series, and it’s been a long time since the anime aired. Mashima decided to give the fans what he thought would make them happy in this film, and in Japan that’s a silly Juvia that leads to cute Gruvia stuff.

Anyway, just please don’t be disappointed. It’s really jarring how differently the Japanese fans react in comparison to how the western fans react to comedic Juvia. The Westerners take such offense, or get so hung up on it, while the Japanese adore it, and eat it up. Especially the Juvia fans.
