what does that one post say

as someone who ships spideypool, i wanna acknowledge that the ship DOES have a history of abuisve behavior, and although that behavior is being talked about and actively worked on, if people aren’t okay with it ever being a factor in that dynamic then that’s valid. however what isn’t okay, is when people try to say that wade was the abusive one. bc nah, it was peter. i love peter parker, y'all know this, he’s my favorite marvel character. for the most part peter is a truly good person, but he can also be a really stubborn and thoughtless jerk sometimes. this isn’t news, this is something his character has struggled with b4 especially when stressed out. and it’s something he’s struggled with in his relationship with wade. for the better part of their relationship, peter was very verbally abuisve to wade. he didn’t want to even try to get to know wade, he judged wade, and he verbally abused him. he would lash at out wade for little to no reason, he would mock him, he would degrade him, he would judge him for his mental illness, his scars, and his history. peter was mean, he had no interest in getting to know wade or even trying to understand what made him who he was, and although his anger was often caused by very stressful and dangerous situations (that were granted often caused by wade) sometimes he would say cruel things to wade completely unwarranted.

as their relationship has progressed, peter has acknowledged this behavior as wrong and has also realized that verbal abuse only pushed wade deeper into the harmful things that peter hated him for to begin with. peter has since acknowledged that he was being cruel, he was judging wade before even getting to know him, and he has been trying to be more kind, more thoughtful, and the kind of person that wade actually needs in his life. “insults” he throws at wade now are much more like banter and based in fondness, like how you would talk when teasing a friend. peter still sometimes does say something that is a bit too far, but when this happens now he will usually realize this and apologize whereas he wouldn’t before. i love spideypool, the relationship between peter and wade is complex and it has really grown over the last two year in particular. they’re both very complex characters with very glaring flaws, and likewise very good and unique qualities. but the beginning stages of their relationship were kind of abusive, and people who don’t like that regardless of how the relationship has healed and progressed are valid. but that abuse, it wasn’t on wade’s part.

peter was narrow-minded, and often needlessly cruel. wade is certainly no angel either, duh, but any “abuse” he’s dealt at peter has never been intentional. people like to say that wade was abuisve to peter because one time wade actually killed peter, but they conveniently ignore that wade didn’t even know peter, and that wade had been manipulated into thinking that peter was doing horrible experiments on humans similar to that of weapon x. and they ignore that once wade realized he had been tricked, he actually traveled into the afterlife to save peter from death and bring him back to life. wade isn’t abuisve to peter, he isn’t abuisve to spider-man. he makes mistakes, but he acknowledges and corrects those when they happen and he always tries to learn to be a better hero like spidey. peter didn’t used to do that, he would ignore his mistakes and behavior, he wouldn’t apologize to wade, he was abusive. but he has acknowledged this, he is changing and learning from wade to be more patient and understanding and open-minded. spider-man is teaching deadpool to be a super hero despite being a broken man, deadpool is teaching peter how to be a better man despite being a super hero.

if you don’t like spideypool fine. whether it be because you just don’t ship them, or you can’t look past their rocky beginnings, i understand that. but i’m tired of people acting like peter is completely innocent, and that wade is what would make the ship questionable, when it would be the other way around. peter is my favorite marvel character because he is so complex, he tries so hard to be a hero and he IS a hero, but through that he can sometimes view “good” and “bad” in extreme black and whites as if there’s no in-between, and this can cause him to be cruel and stubborn to people like wade. and you’re supposed to see that, you aren’t supposed to just ignore his flaws. the writers wanted you to see how cruel peter was being to wade, they wanted you to look at peter and say “hey, spidey, we get that you hate murder and therefore would logically hate deadpool, but maybe learn about him before you condemn him” deadpool is the anti-spidey, he’s spidey’s foil, and through that dynamic you were supposed to see the flaws in peter parker’s morals in addition to seeing the obvious flaws in wade’s. you weren’t supposed to support peter’s initial attitude towards wade, their dynamic was intended to show the flaws in Both of them and then eventually try to mutually heal those flaws, you were supposed to realize that spider-man is flawed too and even he has lessons to learn. and he is finally learning them, peter has apologized and has been trying to change this behavior and be the kind of person that wade actually needs in his life, but he WAS abusive towards wade and that shouldn’t be erased, and it certainly shouldn’t be thrown back onto wade just bc wade is a morally gray anti-hero.

Incredibly controversial opinion: Dick and Damians relationship kinda annoys me. Like Tim is Dicks brother as well and Dick just seems to forget all about him when Dami is around and dont even get me started on Dick giving Damian Robin, lile he had robin taken away from him, and then he does it to tim? What the hell?! I get his reasons for it but it just gets to me. Like i do love them together, but i dont think they "were the best"

Eh, agree to disagree, I guess.

I don’t like it either that Tim and Dick’s relationship was completely erased from canon, to the point where Tim says that Jason is the only person that’s ever come close to be a brother to him (like, what the fuck, honestly) when in Post Crisis you could see that Tim and Dick relationship was one of the strongest in the batfam, and I’m not even gonna talk about how shitty Tim’s characterization has been for some years now and how I wish they’d given to Tim and Damian (and subsequently to Tim&Dick) some kind of resolution for the Robin thing instead of ignoring it altogether. But.

But that said, and as much as I enjoy the past Tim&Dick interactions, they never gave me the same feelings that Dick and Damian’s relationship gives me. Like, I think about those two, how they ended up together, how they went from being strangers to be the most important person from one another and my heart legitimately hurts. To me even Bruce and Damian relationship comes second in comparison. So, you know, I understand your struggle but I really can’t relate. Sorry!

i’m over it so “call me out” and block me if you want bc it really does not matter to me what anyone on this site thinks 🤷🏽‍♀️ you don’t get to decide who i am based on 5 posts lol and if your followers just blindly believe whatever you say w/ no critical thinking skills at all then @ them sorry that ur all fools but it’s not my problem lmfao

kesha literally got put through some terrible fucking abuse and violence, a lengthy public trial, rehab, and slew of people constantly tearing her career down for being a “slut” or a member of the lgbt+ community and she returned from hiatus and put out rainbow which is inspiring and raw and incredibly uplifting and talks about strength through self-acceptance of the good and bad inside of her.

taylor swift tried to manipulate and lie to destroy not one, not two, but THREE (3) people’s careers, got caught in a lie and publicly dragged, and she returned from hiatus and put out an overproduced song with trash lyrics talking about how she can’t let go of the smallest slight against her…

if that doesn’t tell you who’s really a good person at heart, i don’t know what does.

I’ve wanted to talk for So Long about the portrayal of anxiety in YOI but I’ve been having so much trouble putting together what I want to say in the most effective manner. I kept trying to come at this in a more analytical fashion, but considering that this is such a personally important topic to me, I’m going to try a more emotional approach. Something I don’t normally do.

So really, to start off, I wanna say that I’m so damn thankful for the way Yuuri is written. Really, seriously. I don’t think I’ve ever had the ability to relate more to character; Yuuri is close to a mirror of my own experiences with anxiety and it’s so fantastic to have a model of development and growth for me and people like me. I found the portrayal to be frighteningly accurate, from types of thoughts, behaviors, mannerisms… I think the episode that stood out to me the most in terms of Yuuri’s anxiety was ep7, aka Yuuri’s on-screen panic attack episode.

The first thing I noticed was this:

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found myself in that exact position. I bounce my legs when I panic, just like Yuuri is doing here. Head in his hands, breathing heavily, bouncing and jostling limbs. This isn’t the Mary-Sue cutesy portrayal of anxiety–this is a real anxiety disorder. It’s not pretty. It’s not easy. It can’t be fixed with a single word or a touch or a person. Quite frankly, it’s ugly and you lose control of your body.

So a few weeks ago I got interested what made us human apex predators(cuz lets face it we don’t look intimidating). One of the obvious is superior intelligence but that can’t be all. I figured I put a list together for any writer that want to use this information. (these are all google facts so feel free to do your own research or correct me)

Also disclaimer: This post excludes anything that has to do with our above intelligence(like use of weapons) and dexterity thumps, because those are a given. I wanted to concentrate on what else helped us survive in the wild. And this post does not say that the modern human is like this, its about people that still live out in the wilderness or 10 000 years ago.

  • Unique Hunting
    • We humans are persistent hunters, so instead of the typical predator approach by stalking our prey and kill it fast, we let our prey know we are here. We tried to hit it with rocks or spears, if the first strike didn’t kill it, we would just calmly walk after it and try again. This goes on over hours, usually during the hottest time of the day, not giving the poor thing a chance to rest until it’s finally to exhausted to run away. We would literally walk our pray to death. There are other animals that hunt like this(wolves) but we humans are the best at it.
  • Insanely Good Trackers
    • This is tied in with our intelligence but I wanted to give it an extra point. Most animals track by smell, which we don’t. We track foot print and things like fur on branches or broken twigs. Water or rain will wash away a scent but following broken twigs is a bit easier in the rain.
  • Amazing Cardio
    • We can’t out sprint any animal but we can outrun them. Humans are within the top 5 animals that are able to walk/jog/run long distances without needing a break. And we are the only predator in that  list.
  • Incredible Aim (hand eye coordination)
    • Out of all the animals we have by far the best aim. Other species with similar abilities just don’t have the same success rate.
  • Best climbers
    • We are one of the best climbers there are and if you don’t believe me watch a parkour video.
  • We eat everything (and i mean everything)
    • We eat many things that are either unenjoyable for animals or poisonous. Our digestive system is unique and allows us to digest these poisons without a problem. While some of these poisons would be dangerous enough in large doses, it is literally impossible for us to OD on them if we eat them as food. Here’s a list:
      • Chocolate
      • Spicy food (is not deadly just unenjoyable)
      • Milk (Humans are the only animals on earth that are lactose tolerant when we grow into adulthood)
      • Avocado
      • Garlic
      • Coconut
      • Yeast bread
      • Eggs
      • Grapes/Raisins
      • Onions
  • Super Healing
    • Our flesh wounds stop bleeding relatively fast and heal fast too.We heal so well that a broken bone is considered a relative minor medical issue. A broken bone is a death sentence in the animal kingdom and even for modern days vets its impossible sometime to heal an animal’s broken bone. Not only do our bones heal fast but it grows stronger afterward.
  • Lack of Fur
    • Animals that don’t sweat need to regulate their heat by panting. Humans have much better way at regulating heat: we sweat. Sweating happens parallel to whatever activity we do and allows us to perform these task without needing a break. If you made a dog do sports like a human it would have a heatstroke.

All in all we are a species that can adapt to any sort of environment thanks to these traits.

Keith Kogan: A Portrayal of Homosexuality Done Right

I always tell people that Voltron is a lot more clever than it gets credit for. It can spin a cliche/trope on it’s head beautifully, and while all the characters are easily digestible archetypes (i.e: the nerd, the loner), the creators add layers to them that not only make them feel like real people, but also makes social commentary on those very archetypes.

In no better way do they do this than with the character of Keith.

Before I get into how and why Keith deviates from you’re typical gay male protagonist, I want to establish as a fact that Keith is homosexual.

If you don’t see - what I consider to be - blatant evidence that Keith’s gay, well, I can’t say I blame you. Most people have ingrained heteronormative lenses, meaning they’ll miss the subtext of homosexual characters. Us in the LGBT community are much more attuned to seeing these because, well, for one, we’re queer, and two, because up until around the 1960s, the portrayal of gay characters in the media was illegal and could only be shown subtextually.

So it makes sense that people overlook the very nuanced portrayal of Keith’s sexuality, but if you’re willing to take off those lenses, it’s certainly there.

The first standout appearance of this is in season 1 episode 6: Taking Flight. Or as I like to call it, the day the shows name officially changed to Gaytron: Legendary Homosexuals

I think one of the disconnects for some viewers is that they don’t completely grasp the saying, “Show don’t tell,” the mantra of pretty much every writer. Not always, but typically, showing is better than telling. Or more accurately, telling needs to be used at the correct times and for the right reasons.

So how do they show us that Keith’s gay in this episode? Through three things, body language, actions, and juxtaposition.

You don’t have to be a body language specialist to understand the clear meaning behind Keith’s posture. Leaning, looking someone up and down, and a small, lingering smile/smirk are all subconscious signs of attraction. They’re also common ways of depicting male attraction in the media.

Speaking of depicting male attraction, lets look at how Lance’s flirts in the same episode.

Leaning. Check. Lingering smile. Check. Engaged eye contact. Check. The biggest difference is how blatant they are in their intentions, but that comes down to pure character difference. Keith is self assured and more genuinely confident. He also has a lot of walls up and isn’t so open. While Lance puts on a show/over compensates so that he might appear cool. You can also see this in their respective ‘I’m-checking-you-out’ postures. Lance’s body is open, he’s engaged and his eyes are on Nyma’s eyes. While Keith’s posture is interested, but more in an appreciative way. His body is closed off, and instead of looking Rolo in the eyes, he looks at his - um - physique. This is really fitting for Keith’s character, who again, has walls, and who also puts this mission first, and most likely has no intention of letting this attraction lead to anything other than having a nice piece of eye candy around for a couple of hours.

This is textbook juxtaposition. So moving along now.

I don’t want this to be a shippy post, so I won’t add all the times I think Keith shows attraction towards Lance, but I do want to mention this scene.

The use of the rainbow(the most recognizable symbol in the gay community) over lapping the bi flag colors is relevant for the same reason why the use of purple to symbolize the Galra is relevant. Purple represents royalty, imperialism, but also gloom and danger. The use of these colors and symbols are conscious choices.

While the above scene shows that Keith is attracted to men, this scene shows that Keith is also not attracted to woman.

What I love about this scene is that it’s such a cliche, and like I said up above, Voltron is good at turning those on their head. Here they utilize the tiered and true trope of accidentally falling into each others arms. If this was a hetero-centric Romcom than this moment would’ve been obviously meant to establish attraction, but instead, it does the opposite. Rather Keith personally likes Allura or not, she’s a knock out. So, if he’s attracted to women at all, and isn’t use to having that contact- which hes not - he should be at least somewhat shocked/flustered. If it had been an attractive guy that fell into Keith’s arms, I have no doubt that his reactions would be something beyond that blank stare. Considering he literally gasps every time Lance touches him

The last piece of “evidence” I want to show isn’t as blatant and may just be my perspective, but it’s worth mentioning.

The themes of Keith’s Galra arc are very reminiscent to coming out. He’s discovering parts of himself. He’s internalizing and hiding away said parts. He’s scared of what the people he cares about will think of him when they find out. If this is intentional, it’s brilliant, because while Voltron is set in a futurist world where sexuality is supposedly not an Issue, it still is for the youth of today. Meaning by having these similar themes, Keith becomes more relatable to LGBT people.

This is the part where, if you still don’t think Keith’s gay, I’ll have to calmly yet firmly ask you to get off my fucking lawn. For the rest of you, onward to victory!!!

LGBT individuals have a history of being badly represented in the media, especially now that gay characters have become a marketing strategy for a more progressive consumer base. Their whole character is often reduced to stereotypes or used as a giant walking gay pride flag that reads: look at us, we’re hip and with the times. Meaning, the majority of these characters plots and personalities are based solely on their sexuality. Which is a problem, because not only does it not help to normalize homosexuality, but it’s just not relatable to LGBT people.

I’ll give you an example. My mom’s a lesbian. She married to a woman and has two daughters, one who is trans and one who is bi. But despite how “gay"her life may seem, she very rarely describes herself as that way. She’s not active in LGBT issues. She doesn’t involve herself in the community. Shes not lesbian first and everything else afterward, and she is certainly not alone in that experience. Don’t get me wrong, LGBT individuals are more aware of their sexuality than cishet people, but it’s typically only because others point it out and remind us that its not "normal.” Still, for a lot of LGBT people, our sexuality is just one part of our personal narrative, not the whole damn book.

Another problem with LGBT representations is that their often just built off of stereotypes. Gay men are feminized and their sexuality is typically made the butt of a joke. They are shown as being promiscuous and having commitment issues. These are the standards.

But Keith abolishes all of those, and in such a seamless way too.

While Keith’s character is in no way excessively macho, he’s certainly not feminine either. He doesn’t mind getting sweaty. He’s temperamental and has anger issue. He lived a pretty low maintenance life in a desert shack, sleeps in his jeans like a heathen, and probably uses a dagger to peel oranges. Keith is a masculine character. He’s confident and self assured, but not vain. He’s emotional, but in a very private way. Whereas many other portrayal of gay men depict them as almost theatrically sensitive, confident, but only in their sexual prowess, and self absorbed, but only when it come to their looks and not when it comes to their skills.

This is already an impressive deviation, but what really makes Keith’s portrayal stand out is the way his sexuality is but a mere footnote in what makes his character his character, and how that fits into his personality and story arc so well.

The first thing you have to realize about Keith is that, while he certainly wants to connect with people, it’s not his number one priority. He has barriers. He fears rejection, and despite wanting to feel as if he belongs, its not hard to see how Keith has been conditioned to assume he’ll inevitability be left behind, and therefore places personal relationships low on his list of priorities. Meaning, yes, he was checking out Rolo, and yes, I believe that he’s very very fond of Lance, but I can’t imagine that Keith really sees these relationships becoming something substantial or romantic, and thus doesn’t put too much effort into perusing them. You can really tell what’s important to a character by what they focus their time on. Take Lance for instance, he’s a character who blatantly cares about friendships and has no problem openly flirting. That’s not to say Lance doesn’t care about the war, just like Keith’s reluctance to pursue meaningful bonds doesn’t mean he doesn’t want them. It just means that relationships and love obviously mean a lot to Lance.

So what does Keith focus on? Well, he shows the most focus on relationships in season one, when the connections he had with his makeshift family was the post pressing thing going on. (You cant really form Voltron if you don’t connect with the other members) But after season one, with all the changes Keith goes through, we see a big shift in his priorities. First he finds out about his heritage, then Shiro disappears and he is thrust into leadership, and then most recently, he joins the Blade.

By framing Keith’s character like this, it allows the creators to make his sexuality natural and relatable in a very interesting way. Because as LGBT people know, our sexuality isn’t the most important part of our lives. Just like Keith, we have more to focus on.

That’s not to say that his sexuality will never be shown explicitly. Like I said, I don’t want to get too shippy, but I truly believe that Laith is endgame. So if and when that happens, his sexuality will naturally come into play. Sadly, their will be a lot of people who call it forced because they missed the subtext and are use to seeing gay characters depicted more as spectacles than real people.

Voltron has really done something special here. They’ve create a universe where sexuality isn’t an issue, and they make it believable by never bringing it up outside of naturally occurring, unforced, appropriate context. Even better, because the Voltron universe is so vastly different than our own, it would’ve been easy to make LGBT characters that we couldn’t relate to, but they don’t. They manage this so well that I honestly can’t phantom Keith’s sexuality being anything but homosexual despite the fact it’s never been explicitly shown.

But most importantly, they’re creating a higher standard for LGBT representation. They are normalizing it on a show aimed towards children who are heavily influenced by the media they consume.

That, my friends, is worth applauding.

On Hot Pepper Gaming

Hot Pepper Gaming had its last episode today and I wanted to write something personal about it. I had this joke that I would always say when somebody talked to me about the channel - that it was sort of silly how the most successful thing I’ve ever done was the dumbest idea I’ve ever had. Classic self-deprecation, but the more I said it the more I realized just how important this dumb idea was to me.

Myself, Erin, and Jared started HPG half as a joke and half as a creative outlet to sort of prove that we knew what we were talking about. When we began, we were all lower-rung creatives working predominantly at Maker Studios - a YouTube multi-channel network. My only claim-to-fame at that point in my creative career was that I had something small to do with the Harlem Shake becoming a thing, and I really, REALLY didn’t want that to be the only accomplishment I had in my life.

I approached Erin about the idea, who called up Jared to join up with us. With a borrowed camera, $20 worth of craft supplies, and a weekend of work, we had shot the first three episodes of Hot Pepper Gaming. We planned to post weekly for a couple months regardless of if it gained traction or not, but on the first episode we were already growing faster than we could follow.

It’s sort of a funny thing how collaboration works. I remember being completely fine with filming Hot Pepper Gaming on a white background, but Erin’s simple suggestion that we use a yellow backdrop meant so much to the branding and style of the channel that I don’t think we would have succeeded without it. Erin, Jared and I all had something to contribute to the project, all of which combined together to create something much bigger than the sum of our parts. And because of this we were able to travel around the world, interact with fans, and sit in rooms with people we respected not only as their creative equals, but later on as their dear friends.

There’s so many great stories that I’ll post whenever I get nostalgic about Hot Pepper Gaming, but for now I just wanted to say something small that I think might describe my feelings better than me droning on about this will. We used to film Hot Pepper Gaming out of Erin’s old apartment, and after the first shoot we decided to grab dinner at a bar next door. I remember us all sitting at the bar, eating pub burgers and toasting to whatever the hell we just did, in our post-pepper andrenaline-rushed euphoria. I remember one of us asking hey, what if this actually does well, and then us all shrugging and laughing.

I’m currently on a flight back from Montreal, Canada, where Jared and I participated in Square Bowl, a yearly charity event that this year supported Doctors Without Borders. We were sitting on a balcony of an apartment in Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, watching the sun set over a park that was freshly-covered with snow. He and I talked for a while about how we were raising money for an important charity with a group of friends and creative collaborators we loved; and how so many of them we knew, specifically, because we had hurt them with hot peppers.

I don’t know what I would say to 24-year-old, fighting-tooth-and-nail-to-create-stuff-and-have-people-care-about-them Vernon if I had the chance, but to think about myself then and see myself now is surreal. I owe so much to this dumb little project, and I’ll never forget it.

Thanks

MatPat: *takes a deep breath*

MatPat: i lo-

Jason: yes, you love Stephanie, we know, you love Stephanie so much, she’s the light of your life, you love her so much, you just love Stephanie we KNOW, you love Stephanie you fucking love Stephanie okay we know, we get it, YOU LOVE STEPHANIE FUCKING PATRICK. WE GET IT.

I know many of you may be upset about not getting invited to a SS, especially if you live around the area Taylor is doing it at. I genuinely feel your pain because I’ve been there too! I’ve watched my friends meet Taylor countless amounts of times and as much as I wanted to be happy for them I was still jealous obviously (just never turned my jealousy into hatred) but…. I waited my turn. I was patient and I told myself that my time will come and if I spread happiness and kindness in the world it will come back to me. And guess what? I got a message from Taylor Nation during Taylor’s 1989 tour asking if I wanted to meet Taylor!

So a reminder that it is okay to be upset, I totally understand. But Taylor is doing the best she can to meet you. And if I dare read one of your posts saying “Taylor doesn’t want to meet me” OF COURSE SHE DOES! You’re a fan of hers and she appreciates you so much. She even told me when she met me she tries her hardest to find everyone, despite how busy she is. (come on she watches our livestreams when she’s in meetings!!!!)

Please don’t give up hope, this post was made to remind you to be patient and keep up your hope because Taylor will meet you one day and she’ll tell you how much she loves you and how much you love her, and good things come to those who wait.

Episode 10 from Yuuri’s POV

We see episode 10 almost all through Viktor’s perspective, note how Yuuri is shown sleeping at both the beginning and the end,

because this is Victor’s episode and not Yuuri’s and Victor has a wildly different perspectives on things, emphasized by the banquet reveal.

But lets think about ep 10 if we assume that Yuuri was going to follow through on his thoughts in ep 9.

I’ve seen some complaint that ep 11 feels weak or lacks foreshadowing, and I think it may have too subtle, but it was built up if you stop and think about it.

In particular if we accept the idea that Yuuri is doing everything in episode 10 as his last day to spend with Victor:

1) explains why he asks for Victor to take him sight seeing and shopping because he knows Victor loves this sort of stuff even if as Victor notes that this isn’t something Yuuri is into, which once again suggests he was doing it for Victor.

This then doubles as a sort of character development moment for Yuuri because look at him be sensitive to the wants of another person. The fact that the blu-ray changed it to Yuuri winking at Victor, something associated with Victor not Yuuri, emphasizes the fact that this wasn’t about Yuuri’s personal desire to sight see. It was his personal desire to spend time with Victor and see Victor enjoy himself.

Also note how Yuuri is looking in the opposite direction from Victor as Victor is theorizing about why Yuuri decided on sightseeing and the answer he comes up with is that Yuuri is just so stressed that he’s reacting strangely. This isn’t the case, thus Yuuri looking in another direction.

2) Also this might partly explain why Yuuri freaks out about the nuts as much as he does, on one hand he is an anxious person, but his insistence on replacing the bag makes a lot of sense if you consider its really about Yuuri freaking out over there being an unpleasant flaw in what’s supposed to be his perfect last day with Victor.

In the scene right after Yuri and Otabek agree to be friends Victor narrates “Back to my story” which is funny, but also emphasizes the fact that this is really being told from Victor’s POV who because he was absent at the Rostelcom doesn’t really have a clue about what Yuuri has decided.

This is also why when they exchange rings Yuuri does it with all the significant and romantic subtext there is, but he doesn’t explicitly say anything because on one hand Yuuri speaks with his actions not his words sort of guy, but also he knows this is the end but gold with its symbolism of eternity (a whole other post tbh) it embodies his desire to be tied to Victor even though he knows they’re going to be separated soon.

Thus his complicated reaction to the engagement where he gets a weird determined face at Victor for calling it that, but he doesn’t vocally confirm because he can’t make that sort of promise at this point in time.

Tldr: if you read episode 10 from Yuuri’s POV it’s actually really sad.

Okay so let me talk about this picture here

do you remember it? (lol course you do)

back in season 3 Eskild sent this photo to the kollektivet group chat and what did Isak say “Don’t post it anywhere we’re not official or anything”

and as a live watcher i remember thinking “THEN WHEN ARE YOU OFFICIAL?” and ever since that chat and this photo I had been thinking…when is he going to post it. When is he going to become ‘official’

I half expected him to post it right before his season ended, almost as a “here i am and i am proud” photo but it didn’t happen.

of course we still got a boyfriend selfie, but it didn’t hold the kind of significance this one does.

This one was taken when Isak was still not ready to be himself yet

this photo represents him telling eskild to still hide it. It represents Isak hiding and not being proud.

the moment he shares it with the world is the moment he accepts himself and finally is P R O U D of who he is and who he loves

so now finally here we are. Isak has posted one of the photos taken along with the one above. People are asking “why an old photo? why not one of the many new ones i’m sure they have?….why not just take a new one?”

Because

he is finally proud of who he is and it is official.

Eskild you can post it now because it is real.

I am real

and I am proud

#like….okay. okay. this is one of my absolute favorite scenes out of the entire film #i’ve posted about this before but GOD zack taylor bravely confesses his love in this little moment between the four of them and it just. #it breaks my heart. because for starters it’s so in character? zack taylor is canonically impulsive and reckless and risk-taking. #he doesn’t always think things through. he acts first and thinks later. it’s part of the whole parkour persona he’s got going on. #so of course in this moment (when he’s feeling anguish/desperation about losing billy) he realizes and says aloud what he’s thinking #“billy probably did die for us. i would too if i could.” just…he just says it. you hear a little hesitation in ludi’s delivery (SO GOOD) #but he just flat out tells them he would trade his life for theirs after knowing them what. ten days? god. zack has fallen so hard. #jason mightve been the one to deliver the sad speech about wanting to trade places with him but it’s zack who steals the show imo #imagine loving someone so much that you’d trade your life for theirs? THEN MULTIPLY THAT BY FOUR #that’s what zack does. he drops the ‘i love you’ bomb. “there are a million different ways to say i love you. you just have to listen.” #I CANT GET OVER THIS LIKE I CANNOT EVER GET OVER THIS zack who had NO ONE BUT HIS MOM two weeks before #is now prepared to give up everything in order to keep these people he loves (l o v e s) safe.

Time for some good ol’ Voltron Headcanons
  • Shiro read that post about your body starting to die once you’re 25 and low-key can’t stop thinking about it.
    • “I’m dying Keith, let my final hours be peaceful.”
  • Lance forgets words in English. To figure out the right one he does one of two things:
    • Points at the object angrily and says the Spanish name over and over until someone mercifully gives him the word, or
    • calls it something weird in English, leaving the other paladins to try and guess what he’s talking about.
    • Keith likes to give him the wrong English name for things.
      • He once found Lance angrily pointing at a badminton racquet and muttering to himself in Spanish. Keith told him it was a toaster and the look on Lance’s face was so scandalized Keith cried from laughing too hard.
      • Lance didn’t speak to him for two days.
    • Lance once called Pidge’s computer her “electric brain.”
  • Pidge has won every single bet she’s ever made with Hunk.
  • Allura lets the mice hide and take naps in her hair.
  • Keith’s favorite song growing up was “Fly Me to the Moon” by Frank Sinatra, it’s what made him want to be a space pilot.
    • When Keith and Lance start dating, Lance plays the song for them to slow dance to on the observation deck.
      • Keith cries.
  • Hunk has a Hersey chocolate bar hidden in his room. He’ll break off a small piece if he feels like he should have died on a mission but survived.
  • When Pidge swears, Lance gasps loudly and covers Shiro’s ears.
  • It’s rare for Lance to not say, “I came out here to have a good time, and honestly I’m feeling so attacked right now,” at least once during a battle with the Galra.
  • It took three months for Pidge to realize that they were the aliens whenever Voltron visited a new planet.
    • This information blew Lance’s fucking mind.
  • One time when Keith was stabbed during a bar fight, he asked the guy if he could keep the knife.
    • It’s hanging on his wall back in the desert shack.

Archive Of Our Own has outpaced fanfiction.net

In 2015, the rate of new works started per day on the non-profit archive exceeded that of the older fanfiction.net, and this fan-run project is set to surpass the fastest growth of either archive in 2017.

Below the cut, I explain where these numbers come from, look more closely at the seasonal variation in each archive, and the overall pace of fanworks being posted.

why we deserve a jung joon hyung/ahn min hyuk in our lives

let me just say something that we all have realised before but never really gotten into talking further:

the similarities between jung joon hyung and ahn min hyuk on the way they treat everyone around them and themselves says a lot about how they are as a person.

both joon hyung and min hyuk have their fair share of pain caused by their family or past relationships and yet it doesnt make them bad people or use it as an excuse to become assholes to everyone especially towards the girl they end up liking, just cause they have been “hurt”.

no matter what happened to them, the moment they met kim bok joo and do bong soon they started off with simple yet touching and genuine, comedic gestures such as teasing them and are so friendly with them in a way that isnt romantic (yet).

joon hyung was bok joo’s best friend before anything else and he respected and supported her so much; he only then realised slowly that he liked her and when he came to terms with that, he wasn’t trying to push her away or tried avoiding her: he tells her he likes her! and he wasn’t even afraid to admit how much he liked her before and throughout the entire time they were dating!!

before even progressing with their relationship, joon hyung even asked for a chance for her to be with him - “don’t like me as your boyfriend? that’s okay, you can tell me that.” he would still respect her wishes even if it means turning him down.

as well as with min hyuk, he’s always wanted someone to protect him from day one and that’s what he saw in bong soon. he wasn’t afraid to admit that he was scared to her, even telling her bits and pieces about his life to her because besides being his bodyguard, she was also a shoulder for him to lean on when he can - he didn’t completely let her in, he had his moments especially when his “brother” kept making death threats, thus resulting in wanting to be alone. as time flew by, he realised how much bong soon meant to him and started opening up to her even more and more, and it was so pure.

min hyuk is as precious as joon hyung is because he also isn’t afraid to show bong soon how much he cares and admires her: him getting hurt was way better than getting bong soon hurt.

lets be real: these two boys don’t possess the most extravagant thing you would expect a typical kdrama lead to have yet they have the most genuine, pure and beautiful personality and that says something: they treat their girls with respect and support them no matter what; joon hyung with bok joo’s weightlifting and family problems, and min hyuk with bong soon’s inability to control her powers. not to mention the way they look at their woman like she’s the universe to them (swoon !!!)

from their strength to their appearances, how they talk and how comfortable the girls are with their own true selves, bok joo with her weightlifting and eating so much, and bong soon with her super powers, joon hyung and min hyuk find them attractive and beautiful no matter WHAT and that, everybody, says it all.

all in all - jung joon hyung and ahn min hyuk are so fucking PERFECT and one reason being is that they showcase what every man, boy, male, whatever should possess on treating their girl/SO and yet it melts our hearts SO MUCH because we rarely see this in real life!

we all deserve a joon hyung/min hyuk in our lives

My addition to the “humans are weird” thing

I love all the posts about humans being really weird to aliens, and Earth being space australia, but I haven’t seen a post for my idea yet, so I thought I’d share it.

The placebo effect.

We can make things do things just by believing that they will. That’s some crazy shit right there. Imagine two humans on an alien spaceship, and one of them has, like, a headache or something. The other one hands them a tic tac or something and says that it’ll help. It does work, and the aliens are all very confused.

“Sarah Human, what did you give Jim Human for his head pains? It seems to be very effective.”

“Oh, that? I gave him a piece of candy. Just told him that it would work. That’s all, Commander Yh’tix.”

“… You did what?”

“Yeah, it’s this crazy thing called the Placebo effect. I told him that it would help his headache, so it helped him.”

“Did Jim Human not realize it was a candy that you gave him instead of the proper medication?”

“Yeah, he’s smart like that. But like, it still works, even if you know that whatever you’re doing doesn’t actually help. It’s pretty wild. I once saw a kid get drunk even though the punch was alcohol free. He was just convinced that it was.”

“Vx’hor, please start looking into this ‘plasiboe’ effect that Sarah Human has been describing. It sounds highly dangerous, yet highly effective. I believe the humans might have some scientific abilities we haven’t yet discovered.”

This is a reoccurring topic but that post where the person was like “I was fucking joking about drinking Disney ride water you idiots” reminds me of what I think is one of the funniest tumblr “mass delusions” which was the rather meta one where a bunch of tumblr people thought other tumblr people thought that one animated gif about dividing chocolate infinite times was real. Like you’d see stuff that was like “ones Tumblr lost its mind!” and it say like “when Tumblr thought you could get infinite chocolate!” and I would just be like “idgi how does an optical illusion going viral mean the site crazy” and then i was like “Oh my god people are taking all the "Zomg infinite chocolate *Avengers gif*” posts fucking literally are they holy shit" like no one fucking thought you could get infinite chocolate people just thought they did like do you people go to a magic show and see all the people going “Wow!” whenthe magician starts flying and are like “Haha these idiots think he’s actually flying! Only I know it’s just a trick”
