what do vegans buy from the supermarket

anonymous asked:

If you're buying meat at the store you're still supporting the meat industry. At least vegans are doing something about it.

You’re assuming quite a bit there buddy.

I buy meat that is either game, or farmed in an ecosystem type way from a local butcher. I also buy meat that is about to be thrown out that is discounted from supermarkets because I think it’s disrespectful to that animals life if it goes to waste. I use every single piece, down to making broth out of the bones.

Look, what it comes down for me, is that we’re all equals, and animals eat other out of necessity. I don’t feel guilt for also eating animals out of necessity, no matter if some stranger on the internet thinks they have a medical AND a socioeconomics degree and I don’t actually need meat. The meat I eat is the best I can do at this point in time, and I’m okay with that. When I can do better and raise the animals myself, I will. And if you don’t need to eat meat and want to go vegan I will support you and defend your decision the best way I can.
