what are they doing though

Ai Yazawa End-of-Book Notes 1-21

So at the end of every volume of NANA, Ai Yazawa has a brief paragraph about the manga or just some introspection about her life. They give great insight into the series and I think only a few are found on the scans of NANA online, so I thought I’d share them all!

Volume 1

The creator, Ai Yazawa, told us, “I created this story so that it could be enjoyed as a stand-alone and, at the same time, have a complete ending that could be connected to an ongoing series.  I hope you’ll look forward to the future of the two Nanas!”

Volume 2

A note from Ai Yazawa: “I had thought that if the two Nanas met each other, they would probably be constantly fighting, but they seem oddly friendly.  What’s up with that?!  It’s one of me (not so) seven wonders (ha-ha).”

Volume 3

Since childhood, the artists I’ve looked up to haven’t been writers and illustrators, but mostly musicians.  Music provides me the most emotional effect and excitement.  If there was no music, I don’t think my creative juices would boil.  Music is that important to my life.

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 4

I realized one day that there are hit songs with the same names as the main female characters, NANA, JUNKO, and SACHIKO (the kanji for JUNKO is different, though).  It’s not that big a deal, but I sometimes just hum the melodies longingly.

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 5

In the initial drafts, Nana’s band was a rockabilly band like the Stray Cats.  But due to various circumstances, I didn’t keep it that way.  But if they were rockabilly, Ren, Nobu and Shin would have had pompadours.  And Yasu too?

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 6

When I was a child, I used to take piano lessons.  Even after I stopped taking lessons, I bought sheet music I liked and continued playing.  I’ve had my hands full for several years now, but one of these days I’d like to learn how to play jazz piano, which I’ve wanted to do for years now.

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 7

I had an opportunity to interview a group of professional musicians.  I showered them with questions, but they answered willingly, and it was very helpful.  I was having problems balancing the fictional world of manga-like simplicity and gorgeousness with a sense of reality.  But I realized again that what’s important is the humanity of the characters.

- Ai Yazawa

Volume 8

When I was in high school, there was a cool girl in my class who was a lone wolf.  I was really into a foreign New Romantic-type band then, and when she asked me one day, “Do you want to go to their concert together?” I was overwhelmed.  My heart fluttered more than when I was with my boyfriend (☺).  Have you had a Hachiko experience like that?  - Ai Yazawa

Holy heck guys, thank you all so much! When I first started this blog I never thought I’d get this far, so I’m grateful to all of you guys. Seriously, thank you all!

An idea of how I will write Scorbus in my book.

Scorpius enter’s, spots Albus and approaches him. He takes a seat.

Scorpius: Hi.

Albus: Scorpius…..

Scorpius attempts to stand up making eye contact with Albus.

Scorpius: I just wanted to say I miss you. Well, I will be going now.

Albus places his hand on top of Scorpius’s.

Albus: Don’t go. Not yet.

Scorpius: You weren’t expecting me. I wanted to see you anyway.

Albus: You’re right. I wasn’t. However, I’ve been thinking about you. A lot lately.

Scorpius looks down at the joined hands.

Scorpius: Maybe a little too much?

Both boys smile at each other.

Albus: Are you okay with that?

Scorpius: I am not complaining.

Albus: What brings you here today?

Scorpius: There is something I need to do even though it will change everything between us.

Albus remains silent. He thinks things through.

Scorpius: I should have done this a long time ago but good fortune comes to those who wait.

Albus: Are we ready?

Scorpius: There is only one way to find out.

Scorpius takes a deep breath. A part of him is nervous.

Albus: Do it.

Scorpius: I will not be apologizing.

Time froze and in that instant, there was only Albus and Scorpius. Nothing else mattered. Scorpius begins shaking. In a flash before either boy could blink Scorpius kisses Albus. The two lips connect, feeling warm to the touch. Their lips moved in perfect sync. Scorpius scooted closer placing the invisibility cloak over them as the kissing continued. They were at peace.

So I binged today. Which is very typical of me while menstruating. I made the best of it though. I stopped when I realized what I was doing, and I went out shopping. Currently wearing a size small dress at a nightclub with my best friend 💖💖

I think Joaquin is the son of FP and Alice's not aborted child. Tumblr convinced me, idk. What do you think?

How old is he though? Because if he’s the same age as Betty or even Polly, it would be kind of impossible for him to be the kid of FP and Alice. And then if he was older (say 19/20), why’s he dating (yeah, yeah “fake dating” but still) Kevin, who’s what, like 15/16? It’s kind of creepy. I think Hal forced her to abort her kid but I definitely agree with the theory that the child was FP’s.

“What ARE you doing?!” Jakob snapped as Silas embraced him, though in truth the misstep was just as much his own fault. His body went as rigid as one of the delightful biscotti he paired with Corrin’s mid-morning tea as the cavalier grabbed ahold of him, attempting to regain balance.

“Unhand me this instant or you’ll be getting an impromptu flying lesson courtesy of myself and the tallest tower I can find!” He insisted, face red and arms pinned to his sides.

It was absolutely not appropriate to threaten to throw Silas off of one of the castle’s many battlements, but the butler was beyond caring.
