I love how Avatar makes the nonbenders just as cool and powerful. It’s like saying “hey you don’t have these cool powers but you can still be like these awesome characters” Korra fell in love with a nonbender. The fire lord fell in love with a nonbender. The self proclaimed greatest earthbender of all time had a crush on a nonbender. Some people argue that the fire princess fell in love with a nonbender. The avatars son was (for most of his life) a nonbender. The two greatest warriors to come out of the water tribe were nonbenders. The universes greatest bounty hunter was a nonbender. The fire princess chose two nonbenders for her small elite team. Two thirds of the gaang were nonbenders. I just think it’s really cool.
Aiiiight, fam: so I met the Queen of #TheFlash, our Fierce Trailblazer, the one the only, Ms. Candice Patton at the #ComicPalooza this weekend. And since I am a die-hard IWDS member, I thought: “what better way to let our fave and everyone know how special she is to us Candicanes/IWDS + #IrisWest + #WestAllen + #TheFlash fam?"🤔🤔🤔🤔
I got inspired to have this BEAUTIFUL shirt made in a version of the well-known Scarlet color our fave superhero Barry Allen loves and VOILA!!👍🏾
I threw in a shout-out to our Iconic Lovebirds #WestAllen in the back because a TRUE IWDS also reps these #DCComicsRoyalCouple, half of whom is Queen Iris West✊🏾✊🏾
I AM PSYCHED that our fave’s bestie Caity Lotz aka Sara Lance aka White Canary reciprocated and wore a "Candice Patton shirt"😲😀😲😀👍🏾
So I had a blast on my Birthday Weekend🎉🔥🎂⚡🎶👑👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Both Candice and Caity made the Saturday Women of CW panel so much fun👌🏾💯 and I am glad I had the opportunity to ask a burning question for all #IrisWest & #WestAllen fam: WHEN IS IRIS GONNA USE HER JOURNALISM FOR WHICH SHE IS ICONIC FOR IN THE COMICS👊🏾⚡ There are 23 epis/year and 5 can easily be spread through the year and be used to have an Iris West Reporter-driven plot from beginning to end.
Our Queen answered by saying the usual true things: that she advocates for more agency for Iris and more of her using her investigative skills to drive storylines. SHE ADDED SOMETHING NEW: If we, fans, want more Iris West #AceReporter, to keep letting the producers know that we are interested in seeing Iris do more journalism.
If anyone wants to get a shirt to support the Queen of #TheFlash, let me know.
KEEP SUPPORTING OUR FIERCE TRAILBLAZER WORKING HARD TO SHOW HER ACTING TALENT IN A TOUGH INDUSTRY👊🏾✊🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Reblog if you would LOVE Iris and Caitlin developing their friendship in S4 (regardless of your shipping preferences)
Like, I literally cannot understand why some parts of the Flash fandom (WA shippers, SB shippers, non-shippers) would ever want to pit these two independent, gorgeous, accomplished and successful women against each other? Like why??
Caitlin trying to kill Iris? That was Killer Frost. There were so many things going on with Caitlin at the time, so many changes affecting her emotionally and mentally that it was probably so unbearable. If Iris doesn’t hold it against her, I don’t see how anyone else can?
It is so so important that their friendship gets developed. With Barry gone, Caitlin is probably the single person in the world who can perfectly understand what Iris is going through right now. They have had so many similar circumstances. Their fiancees dying (Eddie, Ronnie), their fiancees thought to be dead but returning (Barry, Ronnie), killing their (a version of) their (former) significant others (Savitar, Hunter/Jay).
They have so many things to bond over and talk about. It can’t have been easy for Iris to shoot Savitar (she had to, yes, but that was still a version of Barry) and Caitlin did have real feelings for Hunter/Jay so to kill him like that thoughtlessly, there may be something there for the two women to unpack. I mean there’s also the potential if Caitlin develops a romantic relationship with either Julian (initially unrequited) or Cisco (lifetime friends), in a way that parallels s1 WestAllen, that Iris could give her advice.
I mean The Flash has done such a great job with female-male platonic friendships, male-male platonic friendships, family bonds, friends-to-lovers relationships that they really need to step up their game in portraying wonderful female friendships. So far, it’s only been crumbs. You do not understand how much I need ‘Girls Night Out’ for this reason. I mean I’m game for Caitlin being her Maid of Honor if they develop the bond enough (I admit though that I’m more partial to Wally being Iris’ Man of Honor).
I CANNOT REPEAT THIS ENOUGH: FEMALE FRIENDSHIPS ARE SO IMPORTANT. WOMEN SHOULD BE BUILDING EACH OTHER UP AND NOT TEARING THEM DOWN.
This guy’s walking down a street when he falls in a hole. The walls are so steep, he can’t get out. A doctor passes by, and the guy shouts up, “Hey you, can you help me out?” The doctor writes a prescription, throws it down in the hole and moves on. Then a priest comes along, and the guy shouts up “Father, I’m down in this hole, can you help me out?” The priest writes out a prayer, throws it down in the hole and moves on. Then a friend walks by. “Hey Joe, it’s me, can you help me out?” And the friend jumps in the hole. Our guy says, “Are you stupid? Now we’re both down here.” The friend says, “Yeah, but I’ve been down here before, and I know the way out.”

I think the idea of Caitlin and Iris becoming friends next season is a bit absurd. Caitlin and Iris have never been friends, not really. They know each other through Barry. Caitlin is one of Barry’s best friends and that’s the only reason she knows/associates with Iris. Notice how when they found out Barry proposed, it was Barry she embraced and congratulated, not Iris? And then there’s the matter that last season, Caitlin wanted to help kill Iris as Killer Frost so she could help Savitar, who was actually her friend Barry. She doesn’t really care about Iris; she cares about Barry and Cisco, her actual friends. Seriously, can we see more Team Flash friendship? I’ve missed that. And honestly, if I want to watch a strong, cool female friendship, I will turn on Supergirl. Kara and Lena have one of the coolest female friendships I have ever seen. But Caitlin and Iris developing a friendship makes no sense. They have never really been that close and they don’t have anything in common, so what the hell would they talk about? Trust me, I’ve had friends who I had very little in common with and eventually we just drifted apart and stopped seeing each other so often because we just had nothing to talk about. We’d ask each other the same questions every day. Another thing that astounds me is the fact that they made Iris friends with Linda Park. I mean, did Linda really forgive Iris for meddling with her relationship with Barry? I don’t think I would have. The writers should just realize that other than Barry, Iris really doesn’t have any friends. Probably because Barry is blinded by his love for her and therefore unlike any other friends Iris has had, he doesn’t realize what a bitch she is. Because Iris isn’t the awkward nerdy kid who’s actually really cool and ends up making a lot of friends later in life even though no one understood him/her when they were younger, like characters like Barry, Cisco, and Caitlin. Iris was pretty well-liked in high school from what we saw, so what happened to all those friends? What about college friends? She has literally no friends outside of Barry and his friends. Even Linda Park was Barry’s ex-girlfriend. This is either just really bad writing, or Iris scared those friends off.
