Britney Spears invented the concept of drive-thrus in 2007 after noticing that there had been an increase in child fatalities from children being left alone in vehicles. As a mother and career-woman, Spears understood that the convenience of fast food was important for many people but hated that children were dying in fast food parking lots. Spears approached McDonald’s with her drive-thru idea because she knew McDonald’s had an interest in child welfare (ex: in-store playgrounds, nutritious options for children, and toys). McDonald’s adopted Spears’ new service innovation and drive-thrus have since spread throughout America. Thanks to Spears’ innovative thinking and a deep concern for youths, children are no longer left unsupervised to die while their parents pickup meals.
