All commissions will be cell shaded like in these examples! (clicky for hi-res)

Heyo, I’m gonna open up some slots for cell shaded commissions now that I’ve got the time to work on more detailed stuff while I wait for job interviews to hopefully go well, so it’s a first-come-first-serve kinda deal! Each cell shaded commission will be $50.

I can do SFW and NSFW, but I reserve the right to decline your commission if I don’t feel comfortable with it. Up to 3 characters per commission, with each additional character costing $25 more each. No anthros for now, I’m still figuring out how anatomy works, so I’d like to not offer anthro commissions until I’m confident in my skills.

I’ll only accept payments through Paypal, and the payments will be managed via invoices. If you’re interested, hit me up at ppxieril@gmail.com with your commission request! For more info on my commissions, please clicky here!

Thank you for your time! Every signal boost is immensely appreciated. ;w;

Rashad did not deserve to win last night! This show was about the best dancer and the best story and frankly we all know Normani had that. Let’s not pretend that the Harmonizers are small they are massive and come in clutch when it comes to online voting and there’s no way in hell David and Rashad votes are more then Normani. Look at every award show that has a fan vote and mostly 5H wins beating 1d fans and JB fans. Now everybody might think I’m salty but I have every right to be since she consistently improve and is the best and this whole season catered to male mediocrity. This should have been an all female finale but DWTS can’t afford to let that happened. First, they need David there because they what to pull in the MLB demographic as well as hopefully get another baseball player since he is the first. Second, Rashad is jobless (sorry not sorry) he was a apart of the NFL which they always have a player, they announce he was going on tour with them which is almost always the winner of the show before 3rd place was announce and Rashad is jobless while David retired with young kids and Normani is flourishing with a solid career so they were no way for them to do the tour so therefore Rashad being the only option hence the winner. DWTS has some real nerve to think that the people watching are stupid because they amount of support from all across the world from multiple celebrities who have push for #Valmani has been way more and at the highest degree then the boys. DWTS must hate female excellent because the females were best dancers and we would have probably seen more stories and actually been more entertained by this lackluster bootlegged male mediocrity finale!!!

Now that Caitlin is gone and good-ish, Julian can move on from his puppy love crush and realize he's actually in love with Barry Allen. That's it. That's season 4.

WHY AREN’T YOU ON THE FLASH WRITING TEAM OMG

ok, but seriously, Julian did all he could and should for Caitlin. He saved her life and then spent the most important episode of the Flash away with Cait’s mom to find her a cure. He should now be free of any sense of guilt and responsibility, and hopefully he isn’t the same lonely boy in dire need of some company and love.

They didn’t give our son any closure. His last line in the finale was ‘mate’ and a handshake that they didn’t even show much and was rudely replaced for that heartbreaking hug that had given us allenbert fans so much joy :’( BUT i can totally imagine Julian working with the team to find a way to get Barry back. And once they do, well…hopefully Julian will have that hug and then some xD

If they’re really going to have Julian back next season, they better give him more screen time (preferably with Barry). and cut down on the absurdity and the whole melodrama. @flash PLEASE BRING BACK OUR SASSY SMARTASS GAY JULIAN IM BEGGIN YOU (ノಥ益ಥ)ノ DO THIS AND SAVE THIS SHOW FROM TOTAL RUIN

Mike Perry ft. The Vamps & Sabrina Carpenter - Hands (Lyrics)

Come on lay your hands, your hands on me
We don’t have to talk ‘cause talk is cheap
In the dark silence so loud,
you only gotta lay your hands on me
You say I’m better with ha-a-a-ands, ha-a-a-ands
You say I’m better with ha-a-a-ands, ha-a-a-ands

I’ve been thinking about it,
I’ve been thinking all night
Everytime I try to learn your body language,
never get it right
You’re so hard to reach baby
so I turn out the light
Can you just drop that dress to the floor?
We can talk until sunrise

I’ve been thinking about it,
the way that you blow my mind
I’ve been thinking about it all night

Come on lay your hands, your hands on me
We don’t have to talk ‘cause talk is cheap
In the dark silence so loud,
you only gotta lay your hands on me
You say I’m better with ha-a-a-ands, ha-a-a-ands
You say I’m better with ha-a-a-ands, ha-a-a-ands

Don’t tell me about it,
keep on blowing my mind
Cause your lips were made for kissing baby,
so I put them on mine
No conversation, I’ve heard every line
So leave your shit at the door

Come on lay your hands, your hands on me
We don’t have to talk ‘cause talk is cheap
In the dark silence so loud,
you only gotta lay your hands on me
You say I’m better with ha-a-a-ands, ha-a-a-ands
You say I’m better with ha-a-a-ands, ha-a-a-ands

Do you feel you've garnered a lot more attention since you've been with Sean? Not meant to be shady; and you definitely kind of already had a following before that. do you think you've garnered an audience that might not actually be interested in your content but for your connection to Sean?

Oh yeah definitely, though I don’t necessarily see that as a bad thing!

I know that I’ve garnered a lot of attention online since I started dating Sean but I always try to not use him for my own gain.
I want people to see me, my life and my personality through my videos. I want them to not just see me as an extension of “Jacksepticeye.”
However I have come to realize that distancing myself, like I would in the past, is not the way to obtain that. Sean is a big part of my life and I want to be able to show that side of me to the people online as well. Hopefully you guys understand and accept that. :)

Common errors made by Korean learners

Of course, nobody is perfect and mistakes are bound to happen. However, some errors seem to crop up very commonly when looking at or listening to sentences formed by non-native speakers. Let’s check out some of the most common errors!

되다’s spelling

Going to start heavy with something that even native speakers commonly get wrong. Depending on what follows the root 되, sometimes it remains as 되 and other times it changes to 돼. It’s pronounced the same either way, so spelling errors with this are super common. However, knowing which spelling to use is actually super easy. If the root 되 is followed by a consonant, it doesn’t change. If it is followed by a conjugation starting with 어, it becomes 돼. Let’s look at some examples:

  • 되다 + -겠 (consonant-starting) +어요(or other form of your choosing) = 되겠어요
  • 되다 + -ㅂ니다(consonant-starting) = 됩니다
  • 되다 + -아/어요 = 돼요
  • 되다 + -았/었어요 = 됐어요

NOTE: You might sometimes see 되다 conjugated as 되어요, 되었어요, etc. This is very much a written form, and you won’t hear conjugated 되다 spoken in this manner.

-에요? -이에요? -예요? Conjugating 이다

This is another common error, even among native speakers. Misspelling or misusing the conjugations of this verb is very easy to do because they ultimately sound pretty much the same when spoken. Let’s take a look at them.

  • -에요: This is not a valid conjugation of 이다. It’s just wrong.
  • -이에요: This conjugation is used when the noun to which it is attached—please, no spaces between the noun and 이다, ever!—ends with a consonant. For example:
    • 가방 + 이다 +아/어요 = 가방이에요
    • 집 + 이다 + 아/어요 = 집이에요
  • -예요: This conjugation is used when the noun to which it is attached ends with a vowel. For example:
    • 학교 + 이다 + 아/어요 = 학교예요
    • 문제 + 이다 + 아/어요 = 문제예요

While we’re at it, let’s look at 이다’s past tense -요 conjugations too:

  • consonant-ending noun + 이다 (past tense) = -이었어요
    • 가방이었어요
    • 집이었어요
  • vowel-ending noun + 이다 (past tense) = -였어요
    • 학교였어요
    • 문제였어요

있다가 vs 이따가

They’re pronounced the same, but they’re nothing alike in meaning! 있다가 is the verb 있다 with the connector -다가 on it. I don’t want to get too much into -다가 right now (I’ll do another grammar post on that later!), but for now we can say that 있다가 indicates that something existed or was in a certain state when something else happened at the same time. On the other hand, 이따가 is an adverb which means “later.” Simple, right? This leads into the next common mistake, which is…

이따(가) vs 나중(에)

One of my friends used to get so irate at me when I used these incorrectly! Thanks to him, I’ll never misuse them again >.> Both of these words can be translated as “later,” but the time periods they cover differ.

이따(가) is a near “later,” like within the same day. So, suppose you’re on the phone with your friend in the morning making plans to meet in the afternoon. You can finish up your conversation by saying, “이따 봐!” Or maybe you’re promising you’re mother that you’ll finish up some housework after you meet your friend. You can tell her, “좀 이따 해 줄게요.”

나중(에) is a later “later.” You met up with your friend, and when it came time to pay for your lunch, they realized that they forgot their wallet at home. They offer to run back to their house to get their wallet and pay you back immediately, but you simply say, “나중에 줘도 괜찮아. (It’s fine if you give it to me later.)” This means your friend can give it back to you more or less at their convenience, even if it takes a few days.

덥다? 뜨겁다? 춥다? 차갑다?

덥다 and 뜨겁다 both mean “hot,” and 춥다 and 차갑다 both mean “cold.” However, that does not mean they’re interchangeable! It’s common to see Korean learners accidentally use the wrong “hot” or “cold” in the wrong situation. So, how do we use them correctly?

덥다 and 춥다 are both used when talking about the temperature around you or the weather. For example, a room with the heating turned up too high or Seoul in August would be 덥다, while a snowy winter day would be 춥다.

뜨겁다 and 차갑다 are both used when talking about the temperature of things that are… pretty much not the air around you. For the soup you burnt your tongue on, you can use 뜨겁다. For the ice cube that your immature friend dropped down the back of your shirt, you can use 차갑다.

These are the main mistakes that I see people make (and that some of my friends have told me that they notice, as well). Hopefully you learned something new reading this post! If you’ve noticed that any of these is something you struggle with, work hard to fix it to keep building a strong foundation for your Korean studies.

As always, happy studying~

Humans are weird: The lost colony

*Quick note before I start: This is the first installment in a series I’ve called the Lost Colonies which is largely about human society adapting to the strange environments of other worlds. You can read the other installments here: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed writing this series, but with my new work schedule I had to bring it to a close. If you’ve enjoyed this story follow me on here for my other writings. Thanks again to everyone who has reblogged, liked, replied, DMed, or otherwise shown their appreciation for this series. It means a lot to me that people enjoyed it and the love you’ve all shown me has really helped keep me going for these last few months.*

An adult Turic sits behind a desk jotting down notes as a recorder takes down the interview for future analysis.
“I understand that this entire ordeal has been stressful for you and your fellow colonists but due to your unique situation we would like to use this opportunity to better understand human culture. Please let me know if we need to stop or if there is anything I can do to make you more comfortable.”
The human, a younger female by the name of Kiara fidgets in her seat.
“No, I’m fine, I just haven’t ever seen an alien before. Hell, until a few months ago no one had ever heard anything but legends of people from outer space.”
The Turic looks down at his notes as he tries to reconcile this information.
“According to our research it says that your colony was originally founded just over 500 Sols ago. Are you saying that in that short amount of time your colony’s knowledge of spacefaring and other sapient races was erased?”
“I guess? What’s a Sol though? How long would that be?”
“Oh, a unit of time measurement based on the solar rotation of your home world. Prior to your race’s colonization of other worlds you referred to it as a year. For reference, you are estimated to be 22 Sols old.”
“Then yeah, that makes a lot of sense. We didn’t really have permanent settlements and had to keep moving. One of the older stories said that we came to our world in a fiery ship and that the remains of it could be found out in the wastes once a cycle. That’s what we call it when the Thaw comes back to the same point.”
“I have heard some of the other colonists mention this Thaw. This is the name for the habitable zone in which your colony exists, correct?”
“Yeah, you live in the Thaw, you move with the Thaw. The Thaw keeps you from burning or freezing as long as you work with it. It protects you, feeds you and keeps you alive, but it always moves so you need to move with it.”

The Turic frantically scribbles notes on its data pad.
“Fascinating. It appears as though your civilization has come to mythologize a natural phenomenon the way your ancestors on earth frequently would. Your colony was founded on a planet that was almost what we would call tidally locked. In essence one side of it always faced your neighboring star and it rotated as it spun around it so that the same side always faced it at all times. However the spin was off by a small fraction so that the planet gradually rotated to have a day/night cycle, but this cycle was so slow that it took roughly 50 Sols for a single rotation. This would have made for a narrow band of surviveable temperatures but one that was constantly shifting albeit at a slow pace.”
Kiara stared blankly at the Turic.
“Sorry, that went a little over my head. What I think I caught from that though is that one side of my world faced the light and one side faced the dark and we lived in the space between. Which yeah, that’s the Thaw.”
“I apologize, this is fascinating for me, I’m just curious as to how or why your people took what appears to be such a large step backwards in their technological capabilities.”
“Well, like I said, some of our stories say that we came from a fiery ship and that it can be found in the wastes. If my people really did come from another world, maybe we crashed and our technology broke. We do tend to keep on the move and we usually leave things behind when they break and can’t be fixed. I wasn’t old enough to remember seeing the great ship when my parents took me there and it was taken by the scorch a long time ago.”

The Turic stared at his data pad wondering how he would even begin to unravel all of this.
“Well, hopefully we can find some solid answers to this mystery someday, but I would like for you to tell me more about your colony. What is life like on your world?”
Kiara straightened up in her seat and smiled.
“My name is Kiara Williams. I’m a frost melt like my mother and father before me. We work on the very edge of the Thaw to make sure that the glaciers, mountains and streams run in the right ways when it comes time for the Thaw to reach them in full. We scout lands in the cold to find new sites for villages. We dig breaks in the ice to make sure that the largest sheets fall away from farms and villages. It’s bitter cold and dangerous work but it’s important and sometimes exciting.”
The Turic stared in an expression that would have been the human equivalent of slack-jawed.
“You colony had the technological equivalence of pre-industrialization. Are you saying that your people geoformed an ice world to ensure proper farmland using little more than steel tools and furs?”
“Well there are plenty of other jobs too. My brother is a farmer out in the warmer parts of the Thaw and I have a cousin who lives on the other end of it as a waste reclaimer.”
“And what is it that your cousin does?”
“He goes out into the scorch looking for broken things that can be fixed or things that were left behind by accident. Most people say that’s not a job for an honest person, but he has a real knack for finding stuff to sell. I heard he even managed to find a few relics off the great ship.”
The Turic made a note to track down this cousin immediately.
“Are those the only professions available?”
“Of course not. There’s bakers and builders and law makers but we do have to keep moving with the Thaw so most of us try not to stay in one place too long. It doesn’t help to get too attached. We can usually only get 3 or 4 harvests out of a plot of land before it gets too hot to grow. That’s why frost melts like me are so important to help scout the farms in advance.”

The Turic glanced at the blinking light on his recorder that was letting him know that his allotted time was nearly up.
“I’ll need to let you get back to your family unit soon, but is there anything else you can tell me about your colony or its culture?”
Kiara sighed. “Not really. Being a frost melt, I spend most of my days surrounded by ice as far as the eye can see. It’s strange and beautiful though. There’s massive mountains made of nothing but ice and I know that if I simply walk for a few hours towards out into the frost it would be cold enough to kill, but I know that I’m the one who gets to tame it. At times when the wind is calm I can breath the cold in deep and look out to the stars and wonder what it would be like to explore them too.”
Kiara looked down at her feet self consciously and laughed.
“I guess I can actually get to do that now huh?”
The Turic adopted the human expression of a smile.
“There is a lot of unexplored space out there. I’m sure the human race would be proud to have you back to help them seek it out.”

Phillipa Soo Doesn’t Leave It All Onstage (NYT Magazine):

Not two years ago, you made your Broadway debut in “Hamilton” and received a Tony nomination for playing Eliza, the wife of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s title character. Now you’re starring in a Broadway musical adaptation of “Amélie.” You graduated from Juilliard in 2012 — what does all of this feel like?

There’s the cool factor, right? You see your face on a sign or your name on something, like: “Ahh! Here I am!” And then there’s a huge responsibility and the scary part of it, which is like, “Now what happens?” And then you realize, “Oh, yeah, this is my job.”

[…]

I’m sure you had many more illustrious visitors during your run in “Hamilton.”

When the Obamas came, that was pretty special. When we visited the White House, I got to watch Chris Jackson sing “One Last Time” right in front of the portrait of George Washington, while Barack and Michelle Obama are sitting right there.

The final scene in “Hamilton,” where Eliza reconciles with her dead husband’s legacy, is pretty emotionally overwhelming. Did you need to rush back to your dressing room and decompress in silence?

Some days. Doing a show eight times a week is kind of like doing yoga or tai chi. A vinyasa is the same every single time you do it, but depending on how you’re feeling, it tells you a lot about what’s happening in your life. So, there were days where I’d come offstage and be like, “Let’s go out and drink.” But you learn little tricks here and there. Some nights I’d say to myself, “I don’t know if I can watch my son die.” But you learn that you don’t have to go there every night; the writing does that.

You reunited with your “Hamilton” co-stars Renée Elise Goldsberry and Jasmine Cephas Jones to sing “America the Beautiful” at the Super Bowl. Was it a different experience to perform for tens of millions of people?

I’m looking out and going, “That’s a lot of people.” But I didn’t really get nervous. Once we got up there, we couldn’t actually hear anything. All we could hear was our own voices. And I was like: “O.K., well, hopefully it sounds good. Am I even performing? Can you guys hear me?” […]

read the rest of the interview (including the list of Pippa’s top five female singer-songwriters)

Submission: These bunnies came from two different nests and unfortunately all needed to come into rehab. The first nest was discovered next to someone’s house. She, properly, left it alone at first but sadly when she went to check on them found a dead baby and some very emaciated siblings. The second nest was found by a golden retriever puppy. As there were some injuries involved in the finding, they also came in. All four babies are now doing well and will hopefully be released in a couple weeks. (The person feeding them is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. The colored dots are nail polish, used to differentiate the babies while they’re in care.) Enjoy that nose wiggle!

The cutest nose wiggle! It’s really cool to see how they’re taken care of when they’re in the hands of the rehabber, and near to learn about the nail polish dots for ID!
