“Hey, let’s get a coffee after this!”, Kim suggested, picking up a bunch of flyers and dropping them down a stairwell. You watched them sail to the ground one by one, feeling their flowing movements tickle your mind. “I can’t, I have a lecture.”

“Come on!”, she groaned and waving a You only live once flyer in front of your face. “You hate that class. And the professor and the book.”

“That doesn’t mean I don’t have to go.” Silence. “No offence, but how the hell are we even friends? Like, how have we become acquainted?”, Kim asked. “Opposites attract.” “Which is why your soul mate is going to be the most outgoing party person you have ever met!”, she said, leaning against the rail. “You should meet him half way. If he’s a party person, you will meet him at a party. Which means that you have to attend a party. Ideally the Christmas Festival tomorrow night.”

“If you want me to come, you could just ask.”, you replied and put the pile of books you were carrying onto the windowsill next to you. “You wouldn’t come.” “Well, I am here, helping you carry out invitations to some kind of drug convention.” “Good point.” “I know.”

Ok, maybe I had a few too many drinks. I mean it’s not my fault, I’m just nervous. Peter is gonna be at this party and so is Spider-Man.

“Y/N-” I jolted my head towards Michelle.

“Huh?”

“Stop it- you’re tapping your shoe on the ground and it’s annoying.” I looked down at my feet. My right foot was hitting the ground rhythmically and I hadn’t even noticed. I pushed away from the kitchen counter and then hopped onto it.

“Sorry-” I bit my lip and looked around. Still no sign of Peter. I really need to get over him. And what better way to get over him than drink my sorrows away. He doesn’t like me so what’s the point of falling in love if your feelings aren’t reciprocated.

~~~~~~~~~
I took a swig from the cup beside me and it went smoothly down my throat. I winced at the warmness of it and coughed.
“And I felt at one point- he liked me too. But that’s obviously not true- Eh that rhymed… I think.” Michelle nodded along, taking a bite of her sandwich. “I just need someone to hook up with so I can forget Peter…” I mumbled looking into my empty cup.
“Well I mean Spider-Man is gonna be here.” She said, jokingly.
“Honestly I would totally bang Spider-Man. Have you seen his ass? Oh, my god, he’s so hot.” Michelle rolled her eyes and looked around the room at all the people. “And I mean- I wouldn’t just have sex with him. I’d like to date him too. Although I bet the sex would be amazing-”
“How do you even know you like sex? You’re a virgin.” Michelle stuffed the rest of her sandwich in her mouth and sighed as I set my empty cup down.
“Doesn’t matter- I probably will. Wouldn’t it actually be great to fuck Spider-Man though? The things I wish he’d do t-” My sentence was cut off by someone grabbing my arm. I turned my head to look at the culprit.
“P-Peter?” I gasped. He dragged me along with him through the crowd. Oh god did he just hear all that? I’m such an idiot! Ok maybe he didn’t hear it and I’m just overreacting. “Uh- Pet- how much of that did you-”
“All of it-” He said without glancing back at me. My cheeks turned red and I stumbled along behind him. He pushed open the glass door to the backyard and pulled me outside with him. His grip was tight on my arm so I tried to pry his hand off.
“Ow-Peter-” I whimpered.
“Oh- S-Sorry- I didn’t mean to grip you that hard.” He said, letting go of me. I lazily closed the door behind me and when I turned back around Peter was running his hands through his hair. There was an awkward silence for a bit.
“Why did you bring me out here?” My eyes glued to the grass, I couldn’t look at him right now for some reason.
“I- I-” I glanced up at him. “I got jealous. And I don’t know why. Maybe cause you weren’t talking about me like that in there- I mean you were- but-” I gave him a confused look. His eyes widened. “-I mean you weren’t talking about me- hehe…” I blushed. “I’m trying to say- I like you Y-Y/N.” He mumbled the last four words. My mouth hung open in shock. Is he joking?
“P-Peter… I- I like you too.” He wasn’t smiling but his eyes looked like they were.
“Really? Y-Y/N- You do?” I nodded and he rushed towards me, pressing his lips against mine. He took me by surprise but then I wrapped my arms around his neck. I couldn’t believe this was happening.
After a few moments of us just kissing each other a loud bang erupted from nearby. Peter broke away and looked towards where it came from. A blue looking cloud could be seen past some trees in the distance.
“What was that?” Peter looked down at me.
“Y/N- Go inside.” He pushed away from me.
“What? Well, I’m not going alone- you’re coming with.” I said. He glanced back as another bang sounded.
“Ah- um- I’ll explain later but I gotta go.” He seemed worried. I backed up towards the door.
“I know what you’re gonna do Peter…” His eyes widened.
“You-You do? How?”
“Because you’re Peter. You’re gonna go check out whatever just happened.”
“Oh- Yeah… yeah!” What was up with him today?
“Just… be careful.” I said as I opened the door. He smirked and blushed while jogging backwards.
“Don’t worry I will be!” He turned and ran, jumping over the fence with ease. I’m in love with a weirdo. Before I could turn around to head back inside I heard strange ‘wip’ sound. I looked to my left and over the fence, on top of a house, was Spider-Man.
“Holy shit-” I gasped. I wonder if Peter saw him too. Maybe Peter really does know Spider-Man and he was going to help him right this moment. Or maybe… Peter was Spider-Man. I laughed aloud. There’s no way.
Fairy Tail Chapter 536 Review
Yeah… Lets give this hot mess a once over
Cover is of the oracion seis arc. Y’know, A lot of people like the Oracio Seis as characters and that’s fine but I’ve heard many say the Oracion Seis is the arc where the quality of FT had a dip for the first time. If that is accurate than this is the most fitting cover in a while…
We open on Natsu and Zeref clashing. This will be the last scene that makes a lick of sense.
Natsu’s burning magic… I don’t know how the fuck that’s possible given the fact he hasn’t eaten Atlas’s hell flames
oh but we need to get to the next layer of bull shit and that’s back with BP and Jellal
Let’s break down the stupid of this page, first why is it going to blow up? Seriously this damage is nearly the same as the damage taken in the OS arc, but the christina didn’t explode. Actually I can tell you why it’s going to explode, “we need to add a level of urgency to make the scene more engaging” But you know, your facing the king of dragons so really there’s already enough tension.
Second, Your right, HOW IS IT FLYING!? Last time it lost a wing it took 3 mages with very specific powers to make it fly!
Third, Your mission, Anna? Hahaha Your damn mission was to make sure those dragon slayers made it across the gate, the mission to beat acnologia was theirs. Fuck off…
Oh fuck off. How does the fact it doesn’t have enough magic to fly suddenly become negated when Ichiya’s at the helm?
Oh, now isn’t this sweet. I’m suppose to care about the comic relief character in a guild that has been the butt monkey of this series for years and it’s the same comic relief character who appeared in this arc being completely useless? Gag me…
First of all, are you kidding me? Seriously? OK I thought Jellal doing this WAS protecting Erza. Because when plot convenience isn’t involved, ERZA DOES FINE PROTECTING HERSELF! Also, Jellal’s going to do a bang up job protecting her with all his bones broken.
But hey there’s a reason this needed to happen, Ichiya has constantly thought as Erza being his love interest but this is here to obviously show that Ichiya cares about her happiness and gives his blessing to jellal… OH WHAT FRESH HELL! Okay, Jellal doesn’t even know Ichiya has the hots for erza nor did he exhibit any of his running joke about hitting on erza, so now your scene loses weight to it.
This is something I will get into on the post chapter follow up but now we have the prioritizing of Jerza ruining the over all narrative.
So they ram the ship into Acnologia
oh god no
NO NO NO NO NO
Oh if this crap wasn’t bad enough I have something intercut between this moment and it’s something I know everyone’s dying to see: Nakama power defeating the final villain…
I love how not even Zeref is sure of this bull crap at first as if he knows this’ll never get a good explanation. Also this power to beat White Zeref comes from Natsu’s “Wild emotions”, call me crazy but I’m pretty damn sure last chapter this power was the the strength of the guild. Guess I should now expect not even continuity from a chapter ago not to be consistent.
Y’know for the mighty clash of flames between the Dragon king and white wizard thee guild is still in good shape
Wait why should I care about semantics when I have this to cut to…
Yep, Acnologia, king of dragons, Black Dragon of the apocalypse, was just defeated by a plot convenience hole, a comic relief character who isn’t even a member of Fairy Tail, and a character who was introduced not even 10 chapters ago…
No Jenny… No one won. Well at least none of the fans of Fairy tail did…
ggggggggggggGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FAIL! YOU FAIL! GAHHHHH!!!!!!
*huff* *huff* OKAY believe it or not there’s still some chapter left to go
Yeah I’m surprised that recovery magic didn’t activate a little sooner.
Wow, even Natsu has gotten tired of this crap. Oh Zeref has become black again meaning he no longer hast Fairy Heart.
Post chapter follow up: OH WHERE DO I EVEN START! Well lets start at the end, there are those who will say “Acnologia will be back, there’s still 10 chapters left”. I don’t think so. There’s no indication of that being possible and the characters who were sacrificed were two non FT characters meaning there’s no urgency for their happy ending. Hiro wrote Acnologia so strong that there was no way he could write a decent way to beat Acnologia without having a deus ex machina involved. I don’t have the faith Acnologia comes back, I don’t know what comes next week or the week after but if Acnologia does come back great but right now… I have no words.
Zeref’s defeat, if this had happened on it’s own and it was the whole point of the chapter, then honestly I wouldn’t have hated it so much. I know this is something we try not to let spoil the story and it’s that we know Natsu will win. No matter how high the deck is stacked we know he would have won. But all of this feels so undeserved. The power of all the guilds feelings in the form of a pseudo fire dragon king mode able to overcome infinite power is just horse crap. But even so I actually might have accepted it if portrayed in a wa\y that makes great white wizard look like a moron. While I give props you manged to show the arm being burned, knowing wendy is in the guild those burns will last an hour at most.
Now the sacrifice of Anna, I’ve called that since she showed up so honestly I’m not surprised. But Jellal cheats death. I can’t help but wonder the idea of sacrificing Jellal to protect the woman he loves would’ve made an excellent parallel to simon. SHowing Jellal has come full circle, that even in death not only did he ensure the woman he loved was safe for the time being but her and those close to her would be safe for years to come. But no we had to gut this to have two characters that most people don’t care about give up their lives instead of the long time supporting cast member, who’s death would’ve carried more weight, all for the sake he gets a happy ending with his shp.
This once again follows the trend in this arc of ships taking priority over the narrative. The idea of Jellal and Erza getting together for their happy ending matters more than the conclusion for the villian hyped since tenrou. I know there are many who want Jellal and Erza to be happy together and there’s nothing wrong if you do but when it comes down to it, if you have to choose between a happy end for ship or a good conclusion for your story, it shouldn’t be a question what’s the priority.
Now some people don’t care. As they predicted Jellal wasn’t going to die given Hiro’s track record. People said “lol we know jellal wasn’t going to die” well that doesn’t excuse bad writing. Just because something is consistent, doesn’t stop it from being bad.
All I can say for this chapter as whole is this chapter was disrespectful. Not just to readers but to characters. This was disrespectful to the DS, BP, Jellal, Erza, FT, Zeref, Acnologia, even Anna. This chapter feels like it spit all over the series.
Ugh before I give this a rating I want to say I was talking to a friend of mine, they said while they may disagree with me on my opinions (and sometimes sugar coating of the series) they were amazed that I had hope that the series could still end well. And I carried that hope for the longest time but now, it feels like that hope’s gone for the first time. Every time there was something ad in the series we often tired to put hope into what we believed Hiro would give the proper time and effort, and that was something to look forward to. But now there’s almost nothing left (excluding ships). I know there is still 10 chapters left and hope isn’t “dead” but now we’re so past the breaking point, I don’t even know if what happens in those next chapters can atone for this.
Hiro… I know you have a new series you want to do and I think that’s great. I think you need a clean slate, but you have to remember you’re not writing your new series now, you’re still writing fairy tail. All I ask is you try Hiro Mashima, We’ve seen what it’s like when you do and all I ask is you do it again.
Final Verdict: 0/10
  • Just Awful
  • Disrespectful
  • Disappointment of epic proportions
ok so I promised viktuuri baby headcanons and I’m here to deliver
this is pretty much a thread on twitter, but I’ll consolidate it here for convenience:
  • I hope Viktor and Yuuri become really embarrassing co-coach dads to their adopted daughter one day.
  • They’d probably name her Lyuba, because she’s the embodiment of their life and LOVE. Plus Lyuba Katsuki sounds really cute.
  • Viktor is a fan of L words after all, so I’m like 99.9% sure he’d give his kid a name beginning with L.
  • Nicknames: Lyubochka, Lyubov (thanks @3ubra).
  • I feel like she’d somehow have Viktor’s exact personality and heart-shaped smile despite being completely adopted.
  • Physically, she looks like Yuuri’s mom (which is part of the reason why they adopted her).
  • ((but her hair ends up wavy as she gets older, she has multiple beauty marks scattered on her face, and a tooth gap. She’s an absolute charmer))
  • Anyway she’s a horrible, spoiled heathen that makes Yuuri go prematurely gray because he is definitely the overprotective hover dad.
  • Meanwhile, Viktor is the free spirit papa that interprets her brattiness and tantrums as “self expression” and spoils her ten ways to Sunday.
  • ((they both spoil her though, let’s be real. Yuuri just tries to be subtle about it))
  • (((he isn’t)))
  • Obviously when she’s a kid, she clings to Viktor and favors him while saying awful things like “I don’t like daddy, he’s sooo boring.”
  • Yuuri’s heart breaks a lot but Viktor is there to pick up the pieces and Lyuba has him wrapped around her finger so he doesn’t mind being walked all over… :,)
  • ((tbh the only reason she’s so callous is because kids are kinda cruel until they learn other people have feelings too))
  • Because she’s a lot like Viktor, she also picks up on Yuuri’s moods really easily (which is why she’s so good at manipulating him into getting what she wants)
  • But my point is, when Yuuri has bad days and Viktor isn’t there and even Makkachin can’t help, Lyuba kinda just crawls into his lap and cheers him up…
  • She’ll push a picture she drew of their whole family into Yuuri’s face or yank at his face and ears until Yuuri gets out of his head and looks at her, and she just grins this huge ol’ smile that reminds Yuuri of Viktor so bad his heart melts and he can’t help but return it…
  • Then when Lyuba knows Yuuri is giving her his undivided attention, she babbles stories to take his mind off the bad thoughts……. :,,,,)
  • Later when Viktor comes home, he finds Yuuri asleep on the couch with Lyuba sprawled on his chest and Makkachin curled over Yuuri’s feet.
  • (Also Lyuba definitely has a Swar*vski crystal tiara tangled in her hair because you know she would)
  • This is Viktor’s phone lock screen if this wasn’t already obvious.
  • Lyuba goes on to skate and be a world champion and makes her dads proud, both as coaches and as parents
  • (Yuri is probably her ballet instructor)
  • Speaking of Yuri, he babysits occasionally when he’s not busy and is a terrible terrible influence, teaches her how to prank her fathers and push the other kids into the sand lol.
  • Yuri is the favorite uncle. Yuuri thinks it’s cute up until he realizes how bad of an influence Yuri is.
  • Viktor is like “but Yuuri they’re getting along so well!” And Yuuri is like “This is not the kind of getting along I wanted!!”
  • Yuuri has a three page list in small font of recommended activities for them to do while he and Viktor go out. Yuri chucks it in the trash.
  • Mila babysits too, and she’s the only one Yuuri knows he can actually trust with his child (hell if he could raise Lyuba with Mila, he would).
  • Georgi tried to babysit once, but Lyuba bullied him about his hair so much, the he cancelled early an went home crying.
  • Yakov and Lilia are the only two “babysitters” that are stern with her, and Lyuba actually behaves herself around them.
  • Yakov is also convinced that Lyuba is Viktor’s secret love child because she is far too much like him to be just adopted.
  • He tells all his conspiracy theories to Lilia, who finds holes in all of them.
  • Yuuri’s parents adore her to pieces: they insist they bring her to Japan for the coming of age ceremonies, and dress her up for every holiday.
  • Mari looks after her if everyone else is busy, and Lyuba really likes her aunt Mari’s piercings.
  • Minako wants to immediately raise her into the next skating prodigy, which Yuuri protests.
  • Chris and Phichit mail her extravagant gifts all the time.
  • In general, Lyuba grows up pretty well known in the entire worldwide skating community as the child of two of the greatest male figure skaters in history.
  • Of course when she’s older, Lyuba’s affection is a lot more even, she loves both her fathers equally and if she approaches one individually, it’s just because he handles the problem better than the other one would.
  • She’s actually really embarrassed by how bratty she was as a kid. Yuuri and/or Viktor often recount stories while she screeches at them to stop.
  • Even Yuri tries to embarrass her sometimes. “You may be a world gold medal champion, but I changed your diapers.”
  •  Yuri, tossing back a flask: “I let you vomit on me so your dads could go on a date and get some action at a hotel, as if they were still in their honeymoon period.”
  • Lyuba, covering her face: “Oh my god please stop.”
  • She apologizes to Yuuri for being such a jerk as a kid and Yuuri is like, “I married your papa, I signed up for this.”
  • MEANWHILE, VIKTOR,
  • Viktor: oh Lyubochka don’t worry, your daddy likes being bullied and bossed around ;)
  • Lyuba: I want to die immediately
  • Yuuri: *already ascending*
  • He’d be the horrible parent that drops hints about his sex like with his husband now that their kid is an adult
  • Though let’s be real; why wait until she’s an adult? Viktor is shameless and Yuuri is constantly covering their Lyuba’s ears.
  • “VIKTOR SHUSH, LYUBA IS RIGHT THERE!!!!"
  • "Yuuri, our daughter is one and a half, she has the memory of an earth worm. We can have sex while she naps as long as we don’t wake her up.”
  • Poor Yuuri, between Viktor being himself and their daughter’s rebellious years he has so many gray hairs.
  • Yuri comes over like "oh my god I thought Asian people aged well.”
  • What Yuuri wants to say: “I’m kinda trying to raise the literal spawn of Satan, with the Devil himself”
  • What he does say: “not when they’re married to Viktor Nikiforov they don’t!!”
  • Viktor just kind of shrugs and tries to look innocent while cradling Lyuba.
  • It was in that moment that Yuri decided he would never ever get married.
  • He tells this to Mila, who’s engaged to Sara, at practice the next day and she laughs in his face and says “give it time.”
Anyway, that’s all I have so far, I’m probably going to eventually write a mini series about Viktor and Yuuri retiring and then adopting/raising Lyuba.
okay, hi. it’s me—the annoyance in this fandom. and i’d like to talk about something, so bear with me.
there’s a problem in this fandom that doesn’t need to be discussed. why not? it’s not up for discussion, basically. it’s up to you all to sit back and learn that this shit you all are pulling needs to be stopped. period.
i’m breaking it up to a couple of core parts so you all know what i’m talking about.
first of all, let’s talk about the islamophobia and racism in this fandom.
here’s the deal: shut up and listen. is that too hard? then just shut up and close your browser. delete your blog. take a walk. go on with your shitty life.
i don’t know why this needs to be explained—seriously. i don’t understand it. it’s not physics or the study of runes. it’s the basic thing called logic thinking and common decency at the least.
you’re all doing something incredibly harmful and it’s not okay. when you started calling a brown character a rat i—i thought it was a joke. and when it was pointed out it’s racist, by people of colour in this fandom, you kept doing it. why? do you take enjoyment in calling brown people rats? do you think you can get away with it? guess you can, but you can stop doing it to people of colour. it’s disgusting.
next. the idea of this season is: please don’t let me be misunderstood. the reverse of this? please don’t let me be understood. just so we’re clear. there’s no reverse. the song was in reverse, the message was clear. so you can shut up about that.
so when the fight broke up, and sana was hiding in the bathroom stall, what did we hear? the two white random, irrelevant white girls talking about how they thought (assumed, didn’t know but talked anyway) it was about homosexuality, and how muslims are homophobic. was it there for the lols? no. it was there for us. to know. that it wasn’t about that.
my point: shut the fuck up about it. it’s tiresome, getting old, it’s toxic. if you keep talking about this, you’re spreading harmful messages to others. what messages? that muslims are homophobic. which they can be, i’m not saying some aren’t. i’m saying that that’s not the point of this season and that non-muslims are equally likely to be homophobic. don’t believe me? wow, i guess it’s something that has been fed to you by media representation and… dare i say it? people talking shit of shit they don’t know on social platforms. precisely what you’re doing right now.
second thing we need to talk about: the series. yes! let’s talk about what content we have right now and why us people of colour and why muslims are upset, shall we? (note: we have all the right to be upset.)
let’s first get this out of the way: we know it’s written this way to prove some point later on in the season. probably something along the lines of muslim and brown boys not all being homophobic and shit. you know. that thing you keep shutting your eyes from. we understand that, we know that.
we’re just. not. happy. about how it’s written. it’s kind of doing a lot of damage right now. look at some of the messages some people (people of colour, muslims, muslim people of colour) receive. and what we should be getting is much more healthy scenes between muslims, muslims and people of non-faith, people of colour and white people, to weigh up to the damage its doing. we don’t get that much of that. and it’s frustrating, because we understand why (sana’s lonely) but there are so many ways to portray loneliness than completely erase healthy interactions between people on the fucking screen.
don’t bring up the hei briskeby videos, because they don’t count. i’m talking about the real episodes here. the real clips. the clips that the casual viewer will watch.
so yes. the series itself is… partially at fault here. the writing, i would say. especially filming only the people of colour in a fight and—wow. that chokehold they had on the only black guy? yikes.
what’s worse is that they surely know—or at least have a slight idea—of what outbreak their clips will give. and they keep doing it. keep feeding this shit to us, and leave us to either deal with it, or completely shut down our inboxes. which results into people thinking we’re selfish, because we don’t answer their wish to learn more about culture and islam and the experiences people of colour have.
third thing we need to talk about: vilde and noora. yup. i’m putting them on the agenda.
i, as a lesbian of colour, wholeheartedly believe that vilde’s character is poorly written this season. she’s obviously not too different from earlier seasons, but she’s definitely had more emphasis on her ignorance, and how that ignorance is dealt with is—less acceptable. i do believe, on top of that, that she will be “redeemed” (i’m just not sure i’ll buy into it) and that she will learn, apologise and maybe grow the last episode or something, since we won’t be getting any more.
but what bugs me the most about the way they’re writing her this season is that, she’s coded as possibly lesbian (or bi, if you prefer, but i’m gonna talk about her being lesbian, and you can make your own post about her being bisexual). and she’s literally the only character fully coded this way. if you’re interested in why, just… google it. believe it or not, we aren’t google. but the key point is that she is doing a lot of what us lesbians perceive as compulsory heterosexuality. and they completely villainised a potential lesbian this season which is just falling into the same shit people have done over and over again. lesbians are bad, lesbians are racist, lesbians are this and fucking that and that pisses me off. if, by the off chance, she eventually is canonically declared as lesbian, i’m not sure i will rejoice or throw my phone through my computer screen. they ruined her character to me, they ruined a (coded) lesbian to me, a lesbian, simply because they wanted to put her to be the ignorant girl who keeps shitting all over sana.
and noora. man. i’m not too mad about noora as a character herself. she’s flawed, she has her good moments and shit. but she takes up so much of her own storyline from sana’s. it’s a mess. she’s talking about herself, her problems with dickhelm, and sure, that’s what friends do—talk about what bothers you. but we’re so frustrated that she’s once again on the screen, talking about the same old thing, and rip the minutes that could’ve been spent on sana from our hands.
don’t get me wrong. we all know that sana is a listener. but there’s a line. and they jump over it, time and time again.
and then there’s the misogyny in this fandom that needs to be addressed. and this is a harder one, because it’s hard to spot.
during the course of season three—up to this day, i see this shit—people keep shitting on sonja and emma for no other reason than them being girls who got hurt in the process. sonja? remember her? she got cheated on. and while even kept saying he felt controlled by her you somehow got the idea that she’s toxic. she isn’t. a toxic relationship would not end with isak thanking sonja for the help she’s given. she knows even and—well, at the most, she might have been a bit controlling because she doesn’t understand that even is his own person with or without his bipolar disorder.
and emma? she outed isak, which is fucked up and there’s no excuse. but stop thinking she’s the absolute villain to isak’s life because she’s a girl, who got hurt, in the process. accept that, move on, because isak sure did.
you thought i’d end there? really? nope. ain’t gonna happen. i’m gonna bring up vilde specifically again.
you think she’s just a dumb ignorant islamophobe? partially true. she’s islamophobic and is not a good friend to sana. she’s ignorant, yes. but you’re reducing her character to something she isn’t. you’re reducing her to the blonde dumb girl, which is just as shitty as people defending her islamophobic behaviour. her islamophobia does not correlate to her dealing with whatever she’s dealing with (compulsory heterosexuality, if you will), but if you reduce her to a two-dimensional character it’s quite misogynistic itself. if you’re woman and doing that—check yourself in the mirror.
same goes for noora, basically, but i don’t think anyone is genuinely despising her for anything else than the shitty line here and there and the serious screentime she’s clocking.
we also had a run in with the lovely subjects of biphobia and ableism too. you all can’t stop anywhere, can you?
since we aren’t discussing, let me just point out these things:
bisexuality does not equate to cheater. a cheater can be of any sexuality. the stereotype is that bisexual people are cheaters is harmful and it ends here. whether a bisexual person/character has cheated can be discussed without bringing in their bisexuality to the conversation.
and mental illness… it seems it’s harder for you to grasp this part. so let me put it this way: think of the most embarrassing shit you’ve done. called your teacher mum and everyone laughed? peed yourself in public? pretended to talk on the phone and your phone ended up ringing? whatever. the most embarrassing shit you’ve done. think of that. feel what you felt at that point. oh my god, what did people think of you?
do you want your crush or your partner of a few months know… that? say it involved a second person. say you… shat yourself on your best friend’s expensive, newly bought couch, felt so embarrassed you left the house and deleted all your social media and never answered their calls.
say your partner brings them up.
would you… tell them that?
i don’t mean to trivialise mental illness here (i’m struggling with my own). it’s much more complex (guilt, self-blaming, embarrassment, sadness) than what i’m saying here. i’m just breaking it down to a point where hopefully even the most abled person can understand.
you’re expecting someone who deals with this every day to just tell their partner. it’s not that easy. it’s a lot of compartmentalising that needs to be done, so you can tell that story without breaking down completely. what happened to even broke him enough to switch to a new school. that’s not something you just tell someone, regardless if you’re together with them, without having thought it through for weeks—even months—and analysed each possible turnout and reaction. that’s not something you tell someone unless you really, really, really need to.
that’s not to say that it’s… bad. that even and sana weren’t honest with isak from the start. but it’s what it is. even isn’t perfect. sana isn’t perfect. isak isn’t perfect. none of these characters are completely perfect. why not? because they’re supposed to be realistic, human and resound to us. we’re supposed to be able to relate to them, in a way.
lastly, but most importantly: stop thinking you’re so bloody entitled to send shitty asks to people, especially the muslims, people of colour and disabled people of this fandom.
now that i’ve said my piece, kindly don’t find your way into my inbox and think it’s time to discuss. as i said, it’s not up for discussion.
don’t understand what i’m talking about? congratulations, you just won the prize: read this post again until you get it.
peace the fuck out.
(Y/N) was walking home from work in the early hours of the morning because hospital shifts are the worst, so being a nurse is great and all but when you see a person who is clearly screaming danger and is bleeding rather heavily while unconscious at a very unsociable hour (2 am lol), a normal person’s reaction would be to get the hell out of there. But being a nurse, (Y/N) has sworn to save any life that she can, so, against their better judgement, (Y/N) goes over to him where they immediately start to bandage gashes (most medical people tend to carry around some form of first aid equipment around with them). (Y/N) was also monitoring this person’s pulse and reaction levels. They stayed with this strange boy (he’s totes a man, but he looks so god damn squishy with those adorbs cheeks). Anywho, (Y/N) stayed with this person for five whole hours until they regained consciousness. As far as Jooheon was concerned, when he unexpectedly opened his eyes (he legit thought that he was going to die in this alley way ngl), he saw an angel. And from that day on Jooheon did his best to keep minor injuries so he could see (Y/N) again, I mean (Y/N) thought that it was pretty cute, but at the same time, they weren’t too impressed with the frequency that he was coming in with injuries.
Jooheon had honestly worked up all his courage for this moment. I mean, obviously he has courage, he’s part of a mafia but that courage is different to confessing attraction to a person and telling them what he does for a living while hoping and praying that they can see past the fact that he kills people and deals in drugs and whatnot. He honestly looked like he was going to pass out or throw up (maybe even both) when he went to go and pick (Y/N) up after their shift ended.
“So, uh, (Y/N) um…” was how this whole conversation started, after a little reassurance to keep talking from (Y/N) it all came out in a flood.
“I’m part of the X Mafia! But! I also really really like you!” He had blurted out while his cheeks flushed as red as apples. (Y/N) was pretty taken aback at how out the blue the whole thing had been, but hey,
“Jooheon, when I first saw you, I kind of figured that you didn’t have normal salary job”
“Oh…”
Jooheon and (Y/N) had been dating for like, a frickin decade (lol, jokes, not that long). It had been two years to the day when Jooheon took (Y/N) out to a little park that was super pretty in the evening when the weather was just perfect, light breeze but still warm enough that a jacket wasn’t completely necessary. Anywho, Jooheon had been planning this for absolutely ages! He had asked the other guys for tips, they all gave him absolutely useless information so he was left to watch chick flicks and look stuff up online. Anyway, He was so sure that he had everything sorted! Jooheon took (Y/N) through a small wooded area that would look creepy if (Y/N) didn’t know how much of a cutie patootie he was to them. Once he guided them both through the woods, (Y/N) was met with the prettiest scene before them, fireflies bobbed about and danced through the sky while gloxinia flowers (they mean love at first sight) spelt out the words that (Y/N) had been waiting for. ‘Will you marry me?’ and as (Y/N) turned around, Jooheon was already on one knee with a box in his hand. Opening the box and revealing the ring was all it took for (Y/N) to throw themselves into his arms wailing a ‘yes’ somewhere in between.
Changkyun and (Y/N) met at a high school reunion that Changkyun’s friends at the time had dragged him to against his will. (Y/N) had always been a rather quiet student that had never really grabbed anyone’s attention which was one of the reasons that they were standing alone and drinking alcohol while watching everyone mingling with old classmates. A sigh slipped past (Y/N)’s lips as their eyes scanned the crowd once again, stopping when a certain mobster caught their attention. Im Changkyun had always been a bit of a delinquent even in high school, so when some rumours spread through the old school years that he was part of a big time mafia, (Y/N) wasn’t particularly surprised. (Y/N) knew of him in high school but wasn’t associated or introduced to him in any way other than that they knew ‘of’ him. Either way, getting a little off topic here. (Y/N) stared at him for a little while thinking that he hadn’t really changed very much, still very attractive but taller and much more mature looking (In a mobster and intimidating way). Anywho, as (Y/N) was staring at Changkyun in interest, his eyes slid over to look straight back at (Y/N). However, they hadn’t actually noticed yet so a smirk couldn’t really help itself but to glide it’s way across Changkyun’s lips. Without hesitation, he made his way smoothly over. His suit was pretty damn fancy and the way he was holding his glass of whiskey was also pretty damn fine, not going to lie. When (Y/N) finally noticed that he was moving towards them, (he was like a meter away) they started to panic a little. But it was too late.
“Hey, It’s … (Y/N) … right?” He asked as he tilted his head slightly.
“Changkyun… right?” (Y/N) countered. Oh, how interesting Changkyun found this person to be.
Changkyun had been keeping in contact with (Y/N) quite frequently over social media and he wasn’t as bad as they had assumed he would have been. Their communication started to get a little steamy though, it started with little jokes and general conversation but then it started to change and get a lot more sexual. Obviously they were both adults and they weren’t going to do anything completely stupid. (Y/N) originally just replied as a little joke but they started to get into it. Changkyun was very good at making people feel special, thankfully though, (Y/N) was able to figure this out and stopped replying to his messages and unfollowed him on social media. Fate, however, had different plans for the two of them. (Y/N) was out at a club with some friends from work. (Y/N) had decided to just let go and thought ‘fuck it’ while throwing drinks down the back of their throat like there was no tomorrow (lol, if this night went the wrong way, there probs wouldn’t be a tomorrow for (Y/N)). What Changkyun wasn’t expecting as he drowned his frustration in whiskey and vodka (mixing your spirits is never a good idea kids! Don’t copy Changkyun), anyway, he definitely wasn’t expecting to see (Y/N) dancing only a few meters away from him at the last place he thought he would ever see them. With alcohol coursing through his system, he stood and swerved around the meaningless people and beelined straight for (Y/N) where he immediately grabbed their face and kissed them hotly and with a fervor that he had never felt before. And the rest of the night was a bit of a blur if I’m being honest. But (Y/N) woke up, knowing for sure, that they did not own silk sheets and that their bed did not smell like a very expensive cologne, (Y/N) also knew, that they did not have a person in their single bed. (Yes,they did the do, the frick frack, the one night stand.)
“So,” Changkyun hummed in a deep pitch as he ruffled his hair, “want to go out?” He smirked as he pressed his lips to (Y/N)’s cheek.
Changkyun and (Y/N) had been together for almost three years now and (Y/N) was waiting for the big moment when Changkyun was going to ask them to marry him. Days turned to weeks and weeks turned to months. (Y/N) was starting to expect that they were always only going to stay dating. Changkyun was wanting to get married too, unbeknownst to (Y/N). It’s just that he knows how dangerous his lifestyle is and he wouldn’t want to put his wife in unnecessary danger simply because of his last name. By this point (Y/N) was starting to consider just proposing to him instead if he wasn’t going to make the first move. The day that (Y/N) was going to ask him to get married, there was quite a big fight that had Changkyun way too occupied, so that chance was missed, another few months slipped by again after that. But one night, after Changkyun had managed to one way or another get (Y/N) into bed with him again for the fourth time that week. Anyway, as (Y/N) was lying there just thinking, Changkyun was scrolling through his phone as he broke the comfortable silence,
“Let’s get married, yeah.” He said it so matter of factly that it threw (Y/N) off a little. Didn’t take long for them to recover though,
“You’re asking me that now? Really?” (Y/N) frowned before continuing, “Where’s the romance Changkyun, Jesus!” They huffed as they pulled the bed sheets closer to their body.
“Well sorry, I didn’t realise you wanted a big song and dance about it.” Was all he had to say for himself as he continued to scroll while simultaneously handing (Y/N) a box with a ring inside.
Greetings.
Uh, so I’ve been working on this meta post for around 3 months now, gathering screenshots, gathering feedback, gathering more screenshots. The result is what could conceivably be called thorough.
Compared to the animation I made as the header, the post’s content was much harder to put together and write; I consider the animation icing on the cake. If you liked the animation, and like Chara (or don’t like Chara) then please consider reading the meta. It’s finally done!
Sections…
As a good portion (though not all) of this post is based on the well-known “Chara is the narrator” theory, first and foremost, this section has to be here to provide the base of the post.  It has most of the information known so far that supports the theory, and then some.
Here, we see the Chara describe the bed on the right as Asriel’s bed.
Nothing seems off about this in the pacifist run. There it’s just described as a “twin-sized” bed.
But the narrator has a reaction upon seeing the bed on the left in the Pacifist route. What’s so special about the left one? Why is it this one that prompts this reaction?
Chara’s bed. Chara’s deathbed.
That’s a pretty morbid comment to make; “If you laid down here you might not get up”. That sort of comment, especially in the pacifist run, is probably enough to make you squint and go “the fuck, my dude”. It’s completely out of left field. Most importantly, the narrator only had this reaction to Chara’s bed. The narrator knows Chara died here.
Why does that prove the theory?
They only seem to know what Frisk knows, and what they know.
At first, they don’t know what the plant in Toriel’s hallway is any more than Frisk  does.
Then Frisk reads the book about it…
Now the narrator knows what it is:
It’s another line that seems out of place the first time you see it - shouldn’t the narrator know everything? You’ve taught the narrator? Narrators, as you know, are supposed to be informative and helpful. There is no reason the narrator should fail to know something so obvious this soon in the game. They seem excited, too.
And they may not have known what a water sausage was called, but they knew what a golden flower looked like when they saw it at the very start, before anyone has even mentioned them or pointed them out.
No one had to teach the narrator what this rare species of flower was name, even though they didn’t know what the common water sausage was called.
In addition narrator’s inconsistent botany knowledge, when you check the snow poffs in Snowdin, the narrator also shows a reaction to something they didn’t know before (after indulging in some serious sarcasm at Frisk’s incessant checking)
…and they seem a little dismayed to find there was something worth the repeated checks after all.
They also think Shyren’s tone deaf until Frisk starts singing with her…
And, my personal favorite:
The narrator doesn’t know everything and can learn or be proven wrong.
So we return to this neutral/pacifist line:
This narrator knows something about this bed that makes it different from the bed on the right. They react to this bed only, and pass this rather morbid, off-handed remark here. Mind you, this is still the pacifist run and white-text.
Despite not knowing everything, they know what happened here. Frisk does not yet know what happened in this bed. Chara does.
There is a jarring moment in the Pacifist run where the narrator completely breaks their usual way of narrating.
It’s Asriel’s phonecall.
The narrator has a huge reaction upon hearing his voice - the biggest emotional reaction they’ve had so far. The text spacing doubles out, the line delivers extremely slowly. This voice means something to them.
They just found out their best friend was alive after dying with him. Chara had no reason to believe Asriel was alive until then, speaking, breathing, and calling their name. They’re in shock.
They don’t show any reaction if you get the Snowdin phone call from Alphys, by the way, even though you’ve never met her, even if you’ve never reset (you can get this even if it’s your very first playthrough!). It’s Asriel’s voice, not the surprise phonecall itself, that elicits this unique reaction.
There’s a mode called “Serious Mode” (full list of changes here) in which the narrator drops the little jokes they usually make, particularly of the items:
Such as…
  • Buttspie
  • SpidrDont
  • Leg.Hero
  • Mandanna
to more serious versions…
  • Pie
  • SpdrDonut
  • L.Hero
  • Bandanna
and becomes very somber during the fight, and, at times, very quiet.
Serious Mode happens on four occasions:
Toriel’s fight, Asgore’s fight, Asriel’s fight, and the entirety of the Bad Times.
In other words, Serious Mode will only happen during Dreemur family fights on neutral/pacifist routes.
And speaking of Bad Times, examining the photograph of everyone smiling in New Home elicits a similar reaction:
Somehow, it still gives them pause, even after everything that’s happened. Even Flowey, after all his runs like this, was so jaded by then that his base reaction to these things was just “lol”.
Speaking of Flowey…
Flowey is not talking to you (although you are meant from a gamer’s perspective to take the following speech personally).
Chara can be named by you, but they don’t have to share your name.
(contrary to popular belief, which is the first screenshot taken out of context)
Your explicit instructions were to “Name the fallen child” not “What’s your name?” although the game plays off you assuming the latter.
Chara is not you. They have a true name.
And, seeing as how the other characters react if you try to use their name, and the speaking mannerism, this is Chara themself telling you this.
In the game, we play as Frisk.
And…
That expression he’s making in the first panel is not of someone talking to a stranger.
Flowey is talking to Chara at the end of the Pacifist run, with the same name he has been calling them the entire game, except now he knows that they and Frisk are not the same.
So what does he have to say?
After a deeply awkward, long pause, he informs them that everyone is happy.
…and that Chara shouldn’t worry about them.
After acknowledging their ability to reset, he then says that the power to save and reset is something Chara was fighting to stop.
He knows Frisk and Chara aren’t the same person, and he no longer over-idolizes Chara, but he has an idea that Chara, by the end of the Pacifist run, had been fighting the power to save and reset, asks them not to do it themselves, and tells them not to be worried about everyone.
Flowey says Chara was with Frisk during Pacifist, and cared enough about the safety of Frisk and their friends to worry about their happiness by the end of Pacifist.
Combine all that with these well-known screenshots…
The narrator is speaking in both of these screenshots (still in Toriel’s house) in white-text. The narrator didn’t say, “It’s you, Chara.” They said “me”.
The Chara=Narrator theory is made pretty obvious by this. The mirror dialogue could be taken as its “big reveal”.
You can read more evidence here, here, and here.
The narrator isn’t Gaster. His entry # 17, triggered in the True Lab (the only entry missing from the monitors) was done at the same time Alphys was conducting her Determination experiments (all other entries, except #17).
Meanwhile, the narrator…
…seems rather unsure about the whole True Lab.
And gosh diddly darnit, the narrator isn’t Toby. This is Toby:
The narrator isn’t Frisk.
 When Frisk’s name is revealed in pacifist, they say, “Still just you, Frisk,” (so the narrator obviously isn’t Frisk, even in Pacifist).
The “you” the narrator speaks of is always Frisk; Chara is never referred to with “you”. The “me”, the narrator themselves, is always Chara. It’s stated outright.
Chara’s narration also includes the narration in parentheses, such as:
There were no flowers when Chara fell (as seen in the intro) so the “you” is still Frisk. Other characters use parentheses occasionally too, as a thought, aside, or whisper. Frisk doesn’t speak outside parentheses either. “Still just you, Frisk” has no parentheses.
 Frisk is never the narrator. The narrator remains Chara on both runs; the first instance of “It’s me, Chara”, Frisk has no way of even knowing the name “Chara”, since it’s in Toriel’s home in the mirror, before Flowey calls them “Chara”. It’s Chara talking to Frisk, not the other way around.
Chara does speak in white text often in the Less Than Favorable Outcome…
…but they now seem to use red text to describe things they feel especially emotionally strong about something.
Red text is also used by the narrator in Pacifist, when they sarcastically get excited about something that’s not actually that interesting at all.
On top of that, the narrator seems to be explicitly in the same place as Frisk (which is, to say, in their head)
…because they didn’t say “You felt strange lying in the bed”. They said “It felt strange” and then say that it feels, to them, too small for Frisk now.
And it seems Frisk talks to the narrator on occasion.
The person is in Frisk’s head, can communicate with and be heard by Frisk, likes to make little morbid comments about Chara’s deathbed, gets very quiet on most routes when confronted by Dreemurs, reacts to Asriel’s voice, and only ever refers to themselves by name as “me, Chara” while referring to Frisk as “you, Frisk”.
(I’m a dirty liar, that wasn’t brief at all)
They seem excited upon seeing the toys in Toriel’s house. There’s a small pause in the narration (if you don’t skip) as they assess Frisk’s thoughts….
…then they’re disappointed when Frisk isn’t interested in the ‘cool’ toys; so, a child, with more childish tendencies than Frisk.
They can be very impatient with repeated checks of objects or people (on several occasions)…
(note that this particular example was added in the most recent patch. yes, extra narrator impatience was patched in. word)
They can be very critical of your choices…
They also have a sense of humor that runs from weeb shit, to puns, to sarcasm…
…even in serious situations:
So keeping in mind that Chara seems to be having a good enough time on neutral runs to joke around (even about their own death bed)…
… what happened?
The narrator is not having such a good time during the Unfun Run.
They become no-nonsense…
very impatient…
(even compared to their usual impatience with multiple checks; this time they simply refuse to give information on it twice)
angry…
completely focused on things that will aid the “mission”.
(Sound a little like a gamer speedrunning, doesn’t it?)
There’s an interesting clue to the narrator and their state of mind when you check the bag of dog food in the lab.
You see, unlike the dummy and tree, it’s affected by kill count, not LOVE.
If you kill no one…
Pacifist route text. You haven’t killed anyone at this point; the narrator is optimistic (”glass-full”). They’re having a good time on this path. They’re hopeful.
After killing someone (even a single Whimsun, who won’t even raise your LV at LV 1)…
 The narrator is pessimistic. The bag is now “half empty”. Their state of mind is directly changed by you killing even one person.
But if you kill Doggo, and your kill count is 21+….
The dog bag becomes funny. This is directly affected by killing Doggo and killing more than 20 people. The narrator doesn’t find his death funny before 20 kills. Something has changed in them.
Their view on the world is directly changed by how much you kill.
  • If you kill no one, they’re optimistic. They don’t want you to kill.
  • If you kill even once, they become pessimistic.
  • If you kill over 20 people then they can be sadistic, even on a non-genocide route.
But they do not find Doggo’s death funny unless you kill more than 20 people (which is more than the equivalent of an entire area’s worth of monsters). They did not find it funny before the kills corrupted them, or they would always find his death funny, even without the kills.
In addition to that, Chara becomes unrecognizable to Asgore in the Bippity Boppity Bad Path. Whereas before he was reminded of Chara when he saw Frisk…
in this route…
…they are completely unrecognizable, even when before he recognized the similarity in neutral/pacifist. Why is that?
Because in this run, Chara has changed. They were so unlike this during their lifetime that Asgore no longer even recognizes the murderous creature before him as human, much less resembling his child.
So how is Chara able to get that far gone?
They state outright that they woke up confused, and sought your guidance. You led them to this conclusion. Either they become optimistic and value life, or they think power is their reason for living, and it’s kill or be killed.
We’ve seen this before. Why is Chara able to be taught this way - to either extreme?
By the time we show up, Chara’s own soul is long gone.
This is how he’s able to recognize Chara in the Goddamn Bitch of an Unsatisfactory Situation. This is not a commentary on how Chara acted in life (because you’ve been killing countless monsters and there’s no way anyone would let that shit fly, and Asgore, again, couldn’t recognize them,+ also their LOVE starts at 1)…
…but because your actions indicate someone empty of a soul, and that’s what Flowey is expecting of Chara if they were to come back to life like him.
Even after Chara saunters up with the same colored red soul they also had in life beating inside them, Flowey assumes it’s stolen (he’s wrong, it’s still Frisk’s, but more on that later).
Asgore has never seen a soulless, murderous person (being soulless is unprecedented until Flowey) but Flowey has, and he’s been waiting for Chara to turn up as a soulless person, just like him.
Flowey is fully expecting that if Chara were reborn, they would be soulless, which is how he recognizes them: as “someone empty like me”, a being with no soul.  But how does he figure?
Their souls were combined. When Asriel lost his, Chara lost theirs. Their soul would suffer the same fate, because they were combined.
Chara confirms that they don’t have a soul by their comment here:
It seems as though they were once able to understand “these feelings” but are no longer able to.
Even with Frisk’s soul. Why is that?
Look what happened when Flowey got six souls. He turned into
Like Chara, who’s attached to Frisk’s soul even when they don’t “own” it, Flowey can feel what the souls are feeling, but those feelings are incomprehensible, not his own.
Frisk had to SAVE him while he had the souls to make him feel love again.
The Chara who’s doing the Dusty Dance here is about as much like the “original” Chara as the Flowey we meet is like Asriel. Flowey took a long time to get there on his own; he didn’t have a “guide”. Although when Frisk comes along…
Even soulless people can learn.
…one direction or another.
(non-pacifist neutral endings, had to use a transcript because I can’t find screens and I don’t want to reset and kill anything llollol)
This is what you’re doing. You either prove to Chara that you don’t have to kill (which seems to help them, going by the “half-full” statement and general spirit of the narrator at those times) or you teach them that killing is not just fine, but they HAVE to kill. Like Flowey, they seem highly suggestible, and they are looking to YOU for direction.
And like Flowey, if you show Chara any sign that this “kill or be killed” rule isn’t absolute, even after killing dozens of people, they hesitate. If you fail to kill everyone you possibly can in an area, no matter what it is or how much LOVE you’ve gotten, Chara will not kill Asriel. You’ll be bumped back on the neutral route.
I mean, it’s not like they can’t move your body for you at that point, but even so, they drop everything to see what you do next and don’t even try to “possess” you for the duration of the run.
But there is one point of no return.
If you teach Chara that Asriel’s way of thinking was wrong - for sparing lives and getting them both killed in the process - and to kill with no exceptions, they go on to kill him.
If they kill Asriel, it’s all over. Nothing you can do brings them back from this. They will immediately go on to destroy the world, because “there is nothing left for us here.
That’s what the Pacifist route is about, by contrast.
If the narrator is optimistic upon seeing the “half-full” bag only when you haven’t killed anyone…then they don’t want you to kill anyone. They want to believe that Asriel was just trying to do the right thing.
Because if you don’t kill anyone, then Asriel’s “never kill, no matter what” actions are validated, and he didn’t betray Chara by sparing the humans.
But you have to prove it.
If you kill even one creature, you show that there are circumstances you can kill in, meaning Asriel was wrong, and then the narrator is pessimistic, and says the bag is “half-empty”.
You’re doing the narrator a favor, making them happy, optimistic, by being a pacifist. You teach both Chara and Asriel that he was right all along. And this seems to make them both happier and more at peace, despite being soulless. They are able to let go of their regret and move on.
A soulless person has limitations, but not inevitabilities. They can show concern for others and retain a portion of their past identity.
Flowey cares about Frisk’s future at the end of their journey, and Chara fights alongside Frisk during their journey. Speaking of which…
This is a little more blatantly obvious than everything else. Any time Frisk loses consciousness in any way, on any run, one of Chara’s memories comes up.
When Frisk goes to sleep….
Memory of Asgore telling Chara to wake up.
When Frisk falls from an incredible height after being chased by Undyne…
 Memory of Chara falling down.
When Frisk dies…
Memories of Chara’s death, and Asgore begging them not to die.
Not to mention the “jokes” Frisk tells Woshua, which draw unconsciously from Chara.
Frisk fell on their grave.
Toriel took Chara when she left and gave them a burial in the ruins.
When she left for the ruins, there was only one golden flower in the entire Underground.
Harvesting seeds from it…
…she planted them, Chara’s favorite flowers, over Chara’s grave, where they were buried at the same place they first fell.
That’s why the coffin is empty, and how they came in contact with Frisk.
But other humans have fallen here before, right? Why attach to Frisk?
They’re both red souls. The coffin reads “Chara”. It seems Chara’s essence is only able to attach to the same kind of soul they had in life.
According to Chara themselves, they’ve been awake since more or less the beginning. Yes, even before you started doing the Monster Mash.
Their awakening wasn’t due to the all the murder - they woke up confused and then looked to you for guidance. It wasn’t like they smelled blood and went “oh gee whillickers!! I gotta have me a piece of this”.
They woke up due to Frisk’s power, which wasn’t LOVE but, as Chara says…
….Frisk’s human soul and determination.
As you might remember, Asriel was sleeping peacefully before the flower he was in was injected with determination. The determination revived him, woke him up. Frisk’s determination, their “power that awakened me from death”, also woke up Chara the exact same way. Chara was suddenly within a vessel that had enough determination to awaken a soulless essence.
Frisk has had more determination than the determination-injected-soul-revived Flowey since the moment they entered the Underground; Chara has been awakened by it since then, too.
Actually, it wasn’t at the very beginning. Although they are attached to Frisk when they fall on Chara’s grave (the stat menu) they are neither conscious, narrating, nor giving options…
In the very first room, you get no narration of any sort no matter how hard Frisk stomps around these flowers. It’s silent as the grave hahaha…
And during the fight with Flowey…
 No narration (which would likely say something like “Perhaps don’t touch the “friendliness pellets”). No options.
And Chara’s name is not there.
Dates, storytime, sure. But even the fight where you “fake hit” Undyne has Chara’s name. Because it has the options interface. It’s expected that when bullets fly, and damage is dealt, you get your options interface. The options interface only shows up with Chara’s name.
And if you backtrack, even immediately after meeting Flowey, you get the narration:
The narrator’s choice of words is interesting here - instead of saying “They broke your fall” they’re guessing that that’s what happened.
The narrator was not around to see Frisk’s fall, and up until the moment after Frisk meets Flowey, they weren’t even awake to say anything about it either. If you walk into the second room, then walk back, the flowers still can’t be read. You have to “meet” Flowey/Toriel.
From this moment on, you have Chara’s name on your battle interface, the narration, and your options during fights. And given what Flowey says here…
…there seems to be a reason for that.
At the end of Pacifist, Asriel has something he “feels like he should tell” Frisk.
Most likely, their connection works something like this. It seems that Chara even performs minor actions on their own during the pacifist route…
such as them opening to a page in a book, vs Frisk doing it…
…and if Frisk tries to “gift” Gyftrot after giving them 35G already, they are stopped.
…although it seems like Chara is generally content to take the back seat, as Asriel did for most of his and Chara’s walk on the surface. As they said, they woke up “confused”, and considered Frisk’s proceeding actions “guidance”.
They see what Frisk sees…
Smell what Frisk smells…
…taste what they do….
They can even feel pain.
And they seem to have enough insight into Frisk’s feelings to comment on them.
As for movement, whether or not they move Frisk’s body doesn’t seem to be dependent on LOVE. After all, they start walking on their own at a fairly low LOVE (6) …
(namely, through all of Papyrus’s puzzles)
…and they completely stop moving Frisk’s body on their own if they spare anything, even if LOVE is high.
Not to mention, Chara had control over the Asriel-Chara Combo Pack while they had no LOVE, and Asriel took control back when he had no LOVE. It seems purely dependent on how much either person wants to move.
In other words, they always have the ability to move Frisk, but mostly choose not to do anything against their will. That’s because…
LOVE isn’t power. It’s just a unit of measurement, to measure how much a person is willing to hurt people.
This is what you increase when you execute a monster.
That’s why your stats increase; you’re not gaining power, you’re emotionally distancing yourself, and, through you, increasing Chara’s capacity to hurt, which, by the way…
Starts at 1.
This is what they mean by “We defeated the enemy, and became strong”. At a LOVE of 20, strong to them means this means “emotionally invulnerable, distanced enough to hurt and not get hurt”. This is how they can bring themselves to destroy the world at the end.
It’s likely that they were always able to ERASE the world, having already the power to SAVE and RESET, but that is was a choice not to.
Flowey even says so when he talks to Chara at the end of Pacifist.
In fact, once Flowey regains control over the timeline, he is able to destroy a SAVE file.
So what do you think happens if you’re the one in charge of the timeline, and you destroy your own SAVE file? When no SAVEs exist any longer?
Flowey himself seemed to be shooting for this goal, too.
This is why Chara thought you were killing the monsters; to build up enough “strength” to go through with complete annihilation. To leave nothing that would attach you to the world. This is what they thought your guidance was for on that route.
So…why aren’t they using their control over Frisk more if they always can?
Boutta make a wild statement.
 …and as for what Frisk needs help with, that can change dramatically.
They give Frisk options they think could work during fights and whatever info they have on objects you check (knowledge including deathbeds…but not water sausages).
They even tell them how to spare monsters outright if they know.
(this check can occur even before Loox says anything if check is picked first)
They can point out weaknesses….
Or give Frisk advice on dodging….
Of course, we know Chara’s not all-knowing. They seem stumped at Mettaton initially - at this point an invincible metal box with no weak point - so they put this as an option instead.
“I’m helping.”
- Chara, probably.
Thanks, Chara.
They cannot tell a monsters stats if a monster tries to hide them…
…but it is clearly the narrator who is providing the check text.
This is not Muffet telling you to decline any invitations she offers you.
This is not Mettaton telling you his weak point, as he is very honestly trying to kill you.
This is not Endogeny wondering how many dogs they count as (they can’t even speak).
And it makes no sense for all monsters to suddenly refer to themselves in (sometimes insulting) third-person. It’s the narrator who provides the CHECKS, but not the stats.
As for Frisk themself, they get subjected to some light teasing…
…but they seem to be regarded affectionately.
Chara excitedly points them out in the mirror,
sings them what appears to be a nursery rhyme on their first CHECK (I wonder if Frisk is much younger than them?)
calls them cute, (get out of here shippers, this isn’t a shipping post)
and once New Home is reached, if Frisk, despite being attacked at almost turn, has chosen not to kill everything that attacked them, Chara sounds impressed with them.
This, when they could have just said “It’s you” again.
After all, they were once faced with a similar situation. Going back to what was said before, they are being taught that Asriel’s decision was right on such routes, and it’s working.
However, aside from their morbid comment about their deathbed, which apparently they just could not hold back, they have chosen to try to avoid disclosing their exact identity from Frisk by withholding certain information about all the other items in New Home.
Why is that?
Chara seems to be a pretty introverted, quiet person.
If we note their posture, they’re much more tense than Asriel, and are using flowers to hide their face. Smells like anxiety ( and not the super-confident, hyper-aggressive flirty yandere everyone keeps portraying them as for some reason).
Asriel was their best friend, and… well, they haven’t known Frisk for that long, and they’re not about to tell practically a stranger (albeit, one they are sharing a body with) every detail about their entire past life within like, a week??
Hey, does this sound familiar?
Flowey never reveals what his identity in the past was - Asriel - until he thinks you’re his best friend. Likewise, Chara doesn’t really think it’s relevant what their name was before they died…
…but no need to hide things like that from their best friend, right?
It’s like I said before. On the Pacifist run, you teach them that what Asriel did had merit. Frisk survives, makes friends, and helps get the ”best” ending, all without fighting back, even when attacked.
But if you’re riding on the Asshole Avenue, you do the pretty much worst thing possible. You teach Chara that Asriel was wrong to not kill, that the “mission” is worth more than anyone’s lives. Which means he betrayed them. Their most trusted person… And then, it seems, as a coping mechanism, they project this relationship on Frisk in his place.
Hey, does this sound familiar?
“I don’t know why I ever acted like you were the same person. (pause) Maybe…the truth is…Chara wasn’t really the greatest person, while, Frisk…you’re the type of friend I wish I always had. So maybe I was kind of projecting a little bit”.
Asriel wishes he could have always been friends with someone like Frisk, so he projects the persona of someone he was always friends with - Chara - on to them. If you take the Highway to Hell, this happens in reverse.
Remember that locket? The one that says “Best Friends Forever”?
…the one left on Asriel’s side of the room?
…the one Asriel generates on his image of “The God of Hyperdeath”?
It does not appear on either of his true forms, so it’s not ‘really’ there, but a projection he creates.
There are two presents in this room, indicating one is meant for the other. The one on Chara’s side of the room is a worn dagger, useful, according to them, for gardening (and excited-about-watersausages, constantly-drawing-golden-flowers Chara seems to like plants). The one on Asriel’s side of the room is a single heart-shaped locket.
It’s possible there were matching lockets, but if that’s the case, the one Frisk picks up is likely Asriel’s; Chara would have been buried in theirs, and it explains why he’s not “really” wearing it when Frisk has it. It’s also possible given that it’s called “The Locket” that there is only one, also possibly indicated by there only being one in the present box.
Regardless, the locket in the box seems to be Asriel’s. This locket belongs to Chara’s best friend.
Which, in this run, is Frisk.
The “you” is always Frisk. Chara has already use first-person pronouns to describe themselves at this point. “In my way”, “My bed” but still refers to “you” often. Even in this route, the description on the golden flowers is still “They must have broken your fall”.
 It was neither Chara or the player who fell on these flowers, but Frisk. “You”, as Frisk, are still the one walking around. So when Frisk equips the Locket…
The locket is right where it belongs.
Forever.
You, the player, who objectively know Asriel was right outside of the game, inflict that great pain of betrayal on them and manipulate them into thinking you are the better partner by comparison. That Asriel wasn’t their best friend, but you are.
Chara doesn’t hate or even want to take over Frisk in this route. Far from it. That doesn’t mean they’re all sunshines and rainbows, though.
In pacifist, Frisk can get subjected to numerous bouts of impatience from the narrator (who seems to get weary and annoyed with repeated checks especially) but for the most part it seems like they’re trying to humor the kid.
Sometimes they turn repeated checks into little jokes, like the “Snow Poff” conversation, or this one if you keep turning the sink on/off:
But in this route they’re angry and impatient  The underlying fury of being “betrayed”, the potential for moral depravity that comes with being soulless having been met to its utmost, colors their every interaction with every being, including their new partner.
They snap at them upon checking the presents in Snowdin…
won’t offer up the “snowdecahedron” joke…
and offer very quick checks for a lot items.
The overall tone in this route is “What are you doing? Let’s go.”
But, even so, there are seldom occasions in which they actually remove control from Frisk McChecksalot (actually, the player).
In fact, you remain in control for most of the route, being able to move, act, and spare on your own with no interference. These occasions that Chara is acting stand out very starkly from the rest of the route because they’re the ones you can’t control.
…and they mostly seem to be a case of someone sitting next to you and yanking the controller out of your hands, going, “AUGH!! LET!! ME!! DO!! IT!!!!
But these actions aren’t all insignificant. Even though you, the Player, are at the head of this dust bath, and they are sitting back and letting you “guide” them for the most part (if you hit the fight button, the kill is yours) they make a few “contributions”.
They make an initial mistake in their narration (lmao) but they’re still suggesting battle plans for you, so you are actually the one fighting this fight, not Chara…mostly.
At the very end, that last strike is not from your input. After your attack is dodged, they quickly make a second - the first time they attack on their own.
and their first kill. Since LOVE hasn’t increased before their strike and is still 19, this proves they could have fought without your input but allowed you to be in control for this fight as well, even including the “Spare”  option. You were still “guiding” them.
After this, they then quickly march on to the garden, and kill the two people waiting there. Not because they don’t trust you to (after everything, I’m sure they’re fully expecting you to) but because, I think, they felt they should be the one to do it.
This route ends with their kill count technically at three, but as they feel they’re in partnership with Frisk and therefor an accessory to all the murders, they both share the LOVE and EXP for all kills.
Then…
They go on a spiel about the nature of stats, give thanks, praise, etc. Emphasis is placed on your actions being done willingly and their partnership. Here’s where things get interesting.
They give this option. This can be seen similar to a “fight” or “mercy” button, for the world this time. Obviously, they’ve been conditioned to expect you to choose “fight”, or “erase”.
 Interestingly, they can erase the world themselves, but still provide an option dialogue for this. It’s as I said; they’re not interested in taking over. They believe they’re following your guidance (or what they think is Frisk’s, rather, but you are controlling Frisk) and a person can’t be guided if they take over all the time.
That, of course, doesn’t mean they can’t take over.
The option dialogues are a courtesy. Chara could’ve taken over at any time, but allowed you to do what you would - to guide them, one way or another, because they woke up confused and didn’t trust themselves after the failure of the plan. That’s what they meant.
You have led them on to believe this is what you were after all along. If you choose “erase”:
They’re like “right, exactly as I thought. You’re great, we’ll be together forever” and they’re practically making heart eyes. or whatever the hell those are
Choosing no…
They get a little flustered, if not dismayed. I mean, they just killed their family not five minutes ago for you - including their best friend, who they thought betrayed them, who they replaced with you… who just betrayed them.
You were not after some lofty goal like destroying the world, you were killing because it was fun, because the world is your playground, when Chara assumed you were on some kind of mission. An appropriate amount of pissiness ensues.
Regardless of your choice, they strike down the world…
not Frisk; this is erasure of world, visualized; the window of Undertale shakes, and we know what Frisk getting attacked and killed looks like.
If you wait on the screen for several minutes, making your intention to go back clear, and retroactively making it obvious you did the run for fun, not a “purpose”, they chew you out.
After venting their annoyance at you (and confirming this route’s actions were mostly on you), they suggest a compromise.
This confirms that, throughout the route, Frisk still had their soul. Otherwise, it couldn’t be used as a bargaining chip here.
You’ve never had your soul taken more politely. They asked for permission. They even double-checked to make sure. They give you want you want in return.
Except, it’s not your soul. Chara thinks they’re talking to Frisk when they ask for “your” soul (they think they’ve been talking to Frisk this whole time) and it is Frisk’s soul that they take. Otherwise, this…
…couldn’t happen. congrats. you just sold an 8~ year old’s soul. asshole.
Of course, that leaves the question of why they do this during these endings.
I believe they’re trying to hold you accountable.
It’s right after this statement that they suggest the “compromise”. If you kill everyone for fun, reset, and try to live happily after with them, they can now shut it down. They don’t really interfere in the neutral endings. You led them to their point of no return - killing Asriel - and they make sure you can’t return from it, either.
But if you bring back the world and don’t try to get a happy ending, they chew you out anyway.
“Kinkshamed again!”
- you, probably
And they are so weirded out that they feel an obligation to tell you to do, literally, anything else.
“Despite me not understanding feelings anymore, I feel morally obligated to tell you to do something else”.
Some people have suggested this is to “kill humanity themselves” but. come on. LOVE is just your willingness to hurt. That shit cuts through monsters like a hot knife through butter, but out in the real world they’re just an angry baby with a gardening tool, humanity could fend them off with a wet mop.
On top of that, the destruction of humanity is literally only one soul away.
Asgore would have taken Frisk’s soul and wiped them out, and by killing the children up close and personal, he’s proven he has the mettle to do it. If Chara wanted humanity destroyed, they need only give Asgore Frisk’s soul. They could even inhabit the now completely soulless, determination-infused body like Flowey does if they chose. They do not ever go this route.
Plus, it’s a pointless act when they can already destroy the world, and Chara’s whole reason for being pissed at you is for killing when you didn’t really have a point, then dodging responsibility for it.
They don’t stop trying to hold you accountable on the second pass, either.
Functionally, you paid for the game so you have to be able to play it, but that doesn’t stop this pissed-off 12~ year old from appointing themself your final, unkillable judge if you choose to murder everyone just for funsies and then act like you can get away with it.
That’s why they’re here in this route. Chara is Undertale’s very last stand in a long, long effort to try to make you responsible for what you do here.
Aside from narrating, Chara makes their own contributions for Frisk at the end of this route, too.
After ascertaining that neither they or Frisk can move their body, or reach the save file, they give this suggestion with zero prompting:
Once they’ve thought of it, they then give you an entirely new option on the option menu.
And if you go to SAVE your friends, but back out of it (with shift or x)…
…they get shocked beyond speech, because why the hell would you back out of saving them.
But they’re not even sure at first if this is going to work.
Until it does.
And when Frisk finally gets to the point where they SAVE Asriel, they need to trigger memories of friendship with him somehow - that’s how they saved the others, by reminding them of the times they shared together.
Puzzles, fighting, jokes, phone calls, hugs. It seems that they can only use memories they’ve shared with their friends themself to save them; they can’t save Alphys by using Undyne’s memories.
Frisk has no such shared memories with Asriel they can use to SAVE him.
Fortunately, they know someone who does.
Asriel’s memories with Chara are triggered.
For the rest of the fight while Asriel talks to Chara about how much he cares them, the narrator lapses into complete silence.
After all this, they stick with Frisk until the end…
…but there’s no way of knowing what happens to them after The End.
Flowey dropped by to give Chara that status report, which can’t be physically next to Frisk…
…but the Mysterious Black Void is kind of a special place; it’s unknown if it’s even a “place” or how one reaches it or communicates with beings inside it. Someone is addressed by Flowey here in Neutral endings, too.
So their status and future after the events of Pacifist are unknown.
Buuut, we do know a little about their past before the events of Pacifist, if not after.
As far back as the KS, the legend has been “those who climb the mountain never return”. According to the story, Chara trips and falls in while trying to get a closer look at the hole, but we’re more concerned with why they climbed the mountain.
“Why would you climb a mountain people are said to disappear from?”
…wanted to disappear?
This unhappy third reason was why Chara wanted to climb the mountain.
The “small child” who was scaling Mt Ebott was trying to commit suicide.
Asriel doesn’t state the reason outright to Frisk, but Flowey’s conversation with Chara makes it obvious what this meant.
“I decided it wasn’t worth living anymore, so, like you, I tried to die”.
As we know, Chara’s successful, later suicide attempt was planned, from Asriel’s point of view, around the idea of having their soul in Asriel’s body, which would not erase them from existence. Flowey is referring to their “unhappy reason” for climbing the mountain. They tried to “erase themselves from existence”.
There are indications that Chara fell before monsters left to go to “New Home”, and was the deciding factor for them journeying to the other end of cavern.
The first is that it seems Asriel lived in the Ruins Home for a time, as the child’s room in the Ruins Home is called…
…Asriel’s room.
And he, Toriel, and Asgore all have their chairs at the Ruins Home table.
Two big chairs for two big goats, one little chair for a little goat.
On top of that, Asriel seems to have been in the Ruins close enough to hear the injured Chara.
Chara likely stayed there for a little while (say, two weeks to a month, apparently not long enough to justify buying them their own furniture yet) as one of their golden flower drawings, identical to the one they put up in the same place in the New Home room, is hanging up in the Ruins Home room.
As we know, the reason the monsters retreated the farthest end of the tunnel from the barrier after being trapped is because they were afraid of the humans on the other side.
However, something changed. After millinia of being in one end of the cavern in the Ruins, where Asriel was born and where he found Chara, monsters very suddenly decided they weren’t afraid of humans anymore.
…and journeyed to New Home.  (there also appears to be a missing history book volume in between these two volumes)
Asgore himself had also changed his mind about humans killing them all once they left the barrier.
Why would he change his mind after all those millenia?
Because he had the “future of humans and monsters”.
 Chara fell when the monsters were still in the Ruins, and was heavily implied to make them unafraid of humans any longer after millenia, brave enough now to populate the rest of the cavern rather than staying as far away from the barrier as possible, and heavily implied to have changed Asgore’s mind about humans too.
By necessity, we’re going to have to toe the line of HOPE a little here, since Chara has never stated the reason for this outright in their entire life.
This statement comes right after “I know why Chara climbed the mountain. It wasn’t for a very happy reason.” with no pause; Chara’s reason for climbing a mountain people disappear from, for wanting to “erase themselves from existence”, is related to their reason for hating humanity.
But, unlike their reason for climbing the mountain…
they refuse to talk about this, even with Asriel. Suicide is already a very private topic, which they were willing to breach with Asriel, so there is something even more private going on they explicitly don’t want him to know about.
And no, it’s not because they killed someone.
These are their starting stats. Their Level of Violence is 1, correlating with 0 Execution Points, which go up any time the Frisk-Chara Combo Pack kills someone.
Was their reason for hating humanity because humanity is objectively the worst, ever?
Nah, Asriel knows this already. It seems they’ve probably talked about this. At length.
So the reason they hated humanity is tied to something specific, private enough that Asriel can’t know, not murder, and big enough that they wanted to erase themselves.
In relation to this, I’d like to call attention to an indisputable fact.
The distance between the village and what they see as Death Mountain is about the distance of the underground, which we can walk Frisk through in a day or two. Given its track record, people are probably forbidden from going there, so they’re not hitching a ride there and since they’re children (the coffins all being the same size as Chara’s coffin and Frisk’s sprite barely fitting into one) they’re not driving either.
The children who flung themselves into the Underground probably had to walk there on their own. They probably all came from the same settlement. Eight children who came from this village all tried to “erase themselves from existence” in a relatively short span of time.
Also, by the time they get Underground, they have something in common.
Context: after you reset and she guesses your favorite flavor.
Context: Asgore completely unsurprised to hear you can come back from the dead and have many times. He fought the other children, and it seems he’s heard this story before.
The children who climbed the mountain and came from the same village as Chara somehow had the ability to SAVE and RESET on their journey. But they gave up at the end, and without determination, they died for real, and their ability to save and reset was passed to someone else.
We know that only one being can hold save/load powers at a time, since Flowey’s are taken away when a being with more determination arrives. For some reason, this individual has been the fallen children on many occasions if not all of them, and that’s no coincidence. There is a reason for that.
I believe Chara also had that power. Frisk’s SAVE file is in their name.
And there’s this question that Flowey asks them at the end of Pacifist.
He’s asking them if the power to save and reset was one they were fighting to stop. Given that they use this power along with Frisk even in Pacifist (to, at the very least, keep them both alive), I he may be referring to their efforts in life. Maybe they believed their death would erase this power. They likely lost it upon committing suicide, having lost their will to live/determination.
And how does this relate to their possible reason for hating humanity, that they could never tell Asriel about?
Even after he says Chara was fighting to stop the resets, he makes this accusation. I think this is what they might have been afraid of. (although this is a fair accusation, because starting the game up could only indicate that there is an intention to reset and play again, and he has picked up on that and only confronts them if it is started again)
But Chara seems to hate the power to reset’s potential for using it to dodging responsibility. Your attempt to abuse it completely sets them off.
They have an overwhelming drive to hold you responsible for the actions you take, to prevent you from getting away with outright abusing the power for fun without consequences.
It’s possible that their secret power to reset is linked to their reason for hating humanity, which means it, too, must remain secret. That the humans in the village tried to abuse their power, and the humans were never held accountable for it, and that other children who could reset were driven up the mountain decades later for the same reason.
It would also explain some strange actions taken by Chara during the trip outside the barrier.
We know Chara has some kind of real fixation on these flowers - they have drawings they made of the golden flowers next to their bed. But I don’t believe they made this request, and carried their body over just to see the flowers.
Was it to force an attack on Asriel? Hell no. Chara already has control over his body before they even pick up their body. And he’s already agreed to take six souls. If they had any idea that Asriel would have “betrayed” them, they would not have trusted him with the reason they climbed they mountain, the locket, and their soul.
I think the beliefs of the villagers and their subsequent attack was an accident that the combined intellectual “might” of two 12~ year olds couldn’t have predicted. Plus…
It seems that the monster-human combination with one soul is a little frightening to look at. The God of Hyperdeath has enough souls to generate an image to his liking, but with one soul, his appearance is “very unsettling” and described by even the monsters as a “horrible beast”. The villagers might have assumed he must have killed the child he was holding because of his appearance.
And if Chara really wanted the villagers to attack, they could have mutilated their own body in front of them, faked an attack on their corpse; all they did was carry it to the golden flowers. The image was likely similar to a parent carrying their sleeping child to bed.
But I do think Chara wanted the villagers to see their dead body.
Chara, for reasons unknown to us, has an extreme fixation on holding people accountable and responsible for their actions. Their reason for hating humanity - I believe this originated from the villagers, who did something so awful that Chara thought an appropriate punishment for them was death.
They want the villagers to see their dead body; to hold them responsible for driving them up the mountain, to show them the reason they were about to die.
And if Chara had the power to reset as long as they had determination, that the villagers abused, Chara’s death even being a possibility is an indication to everyone that they lost the will to live.
I think they’re trying to say…
And I don’t think their eventual plan was to restart a war on humanity - they seemed to truly want to break the barrier.
That said, would they have been altogether that fussed if monsters managed to defeat the hated humans, and regain control over the earth, after being slaughtered and trapped underground? Probably not. Many monsters themselves, during the events of Undertale, are “so hype for the destruction of humanity”, after all.
And no, I don’t believe “premeditated murder is A-okay as long as one’s backstory is tragic” (which no one has ever claimed), but this way of thinking is also analogous to the monsters believing it is alright to kill seven children to break the barrier, despite monsters souls supposedly being made of love and compassion; it is a flawed “ends justify the means” sort of thinking and Undertale’s message is that there is no right reason to take a life.
Chara also refers to the plan to break the barrier as “our plan”, not “my plan”.
Their plan was to “just” take six souls - this was as far as the plan was Asriel-approved and could be called “our plan”, which was…
If there had been any ulterior motive besides that they would have said “my plan”, although Asriel realizes in hindsight that breaking the barrier with murdered souls would mean having to battle the vengeful humans beyond, as his father was on his way to doing, after declaring war on them.
It’s worth mentioning that the narrator has a little moment when the barrier is broken:
It’s one of the very few moments when the narration voice goes nonstandard in the game, and it even matches Chara’s way of speaking at the end of the Lethal Limbo (but it’s not as slow and spaced out as their reaction to Asriel’s phonecall). The breaking of the barrier spawns an emotional reaction in them.
They may have even thought breaking the barrier was their purpose, as someone who was “the future of monsters and humans”.
Remember what Asgore tells them on their deathbed?
They’ve probably heard this line before. This is the angle Asgore pleads to them from.
Now, as a singular human with a singular human soul, knowing monsters can absorb human souls to exit the barrier that’s trapped them for millenia, how does one become the “future of monsters and humans”?  How would you, as a suicidal child, have interpreted that line?
How would you have fulfilled your dad’s wishes for you to become “the future of humans and monsters” knowing what resources were available to you: your one human soul, your boss monster pal…and your knowledge of where to find 6 of some very bad humans’ souls?
We know they held this line very close to their heart, because…
…even after death, they remember it.
There are clues scattered around New Home, and in the behavior of living characters, that indicate that Chara had a mutual love of their adoptive family.
Toriel obviously cared for Chara very much. She took them with her to the Ruins to give them a proper burial when they died…
she took the seeds of their favorite flower to plant over their grave…
and even has one of these flowers in her room.
And, after she leaves Frisk at the door of the ruins, when she thinks she’ll never see them again, she goes to stand quietly by Chara’s grave.
Chara, who I believed loved all of them very much, likely thought very highly of her. Their way of speaking (if not necessarily their tone) sounds very like hers:
Some of the narration even sounds like it could have come from Toriel herself.
And given Toriel’s reputation for being a strong and intelligent person,
they might have thought of her as a role model.
They also seem to have inherited her sense of humor.
During the battle with her they give the check option:
and when she finally starts relenting, and talks about taking care of Frisk and begging them to go upstairs, their narration turns to silence.
If she is killed, then, even on the Violent Venue - where Chara had thought talking to her about what they’re doing was useless - they express sadness while walking around her home.
Asgore and Chara seem to have been pretty close.
Flowey even makes a comment on this…
That, even where Flowey’s “hundreds of methods” couldn’t get Asgore to show the souls, he’d do it for Chara…implying that Flowey thought there was some favoritism going on. you made the whole room awkward, Flowey.
Asgore seems to have held hopes during Chara’s life that they would become “the future of monsters and humans”.
…a hope which he immediately puts on Frisk after deciding that the look in their eyes is similar to Chara’s.
But we know that Asgore cared about them far beyond that potential, as he is still attached to them after they’ve died.
During the events of Undertale, Asgore seems to have developed an attachment to their favorite flower…
…it’s even on his trident.
and he drinks it as tea.
(which Chara seems to like, too)
Seeing as the gift to them in their room is described by them as a simple garden tool (on everything but That One Occasion When You Try to Kill Literally Everyone)
and how excited they were to learn what the hell is a water sausage
it’s probable that Chara and Asgore spent a lot of time in the garden together; maybe this was when Chara starting bringing up the golden flowers, and why he cultivates them after their death.
And it seem that Chara was highly attached to him too. Walking around new home, one can discover this tidbit about a “pink, hand-knit sweater”:
They know the sweater was hand-knit, and there’s a pause when the narrator sees it, implying some surprise.
And it’s so relevant to the narrator that it even has red text associated it, in which they express interest in that he still has it.
Their bed (“my bed”) does not have red text, but “my drawing”, their picture of the golden flower, does, implying that they were the one who made it for him.
Meanwhile, the bureau with a Santa Claus outfit inside is given no pause by the narrator in Pacifist…
and is dismissed completely in the Significantly Unpacifist route.
…completely unlike the sweater. The narrator is not surprised to find this goofy object is owned by Asgore, they’re surprised because he still has the sweater they gave him. A likely huge sweater, that they knit by hand.
Given that it says “Mr. Dad Guy” it seems that they once called him this (either as a slip in regular conversation or because they couldn’t quite say “Dad” outright) and it become an in-joke for them.
The fight with Asgore starts out with some narration…
…but once Asgore strikes out the Mercy button, and it becomes clear you’ll have to fight him, they go dead silent for the entire fight.
And during the fight with him, the narration doesn’t even try to give him any CHECK text - it simply says Asgore and gives his stats.
They’re not enjoying this.
Post-death, Asgore’s relationship with Chara is complicated. By this time he’s already declared war on humans, so he tried to keep them in a cold, above-ground coffin with the rest of the children, perhaps as a way to detach, and talks of having a child.
Since he and Toriel knew, while Chara was dying of the same symptoms Asgore had had, that Chara was trying to commit suicide…
…it’s possible he felt they had a role in Asriel’s death when he declared war “in a fit of anger”.
But he also describes them this way:
(a look of hope he sees in Frisk’s eyes right after he offers to make them a family; it seems Chara possessed similar hope for this to work once.)
And given that he still has the sweater they made him (maybe this is why Chara was surprised to see it?) and the ongoing motif of golden flowers, I don’t think he every succeeded in hating them, if that’s what he was going for. I don’t think Asgore has it in him to truly hate anyone.
And Chara remembers the words he told them on their deathbed, and seems to have kept them close…
as Chara remembers them every time the Frisk and Chara Combo Pack die, and finds the determination to come back.
So about that buttercup incident.
Would they really try to kill someone they cared about this much?
Asriel describes it as an accident they both made together regarding the word “buttercup” being close to “cups of butter”.
Chara didn’t even know what a water sausage looked like; their knowledge wasn’t perfect. Even I didn’t know until Undertale that buttercups were poisonous, and I once dug a hole for a jalepeno plant. A whole hole.
If they really, really wanted a boss monster soul, they could have gone after the weaker Asriel’s soul, or just attacked outright; even in pacifist, with a LV of 1, Frisk can cut through Asgore and bring him to his knees with ease. Humans are just that strong.
And Chara wouldn’t have had Asriel as a witness to the pie-baking if they were doing something secretly murderous to his father.
Plus they could have just reset until it worked, if that was what they were after.
(And why didn’t they reset after the poisonings?)
There is, however, an indication of their true feelings towards this incident.
They’ve decided to use buttercups to kill themselves.
Buttercup poisoning - a truly atrocious way to die, if you’ve ever read about the symptoms - is their preferred method of suicide.
This child, who climbed the mountain looking for a way to die, must have been able to think of other options…that “gardening tool” they had, falling, maybe even the bullets of a monster. Instead they chose a particularly painful, gruesome way to die, the symptoms of which everyone would recognize as buttercup poisoning, ruining any potential efforts to conceal their suicide.
Which it did.
Why?
They’re holding themself accountable this time. They might have considered it “making up” for their mistake.
Toriel even seems worried that Chara might think that she and Asgore are angry with them about the incident (given that it’s their choice of suicide) and tries to reassure them that they both want Chara to wake up:
…So why’d they laugh about it?
I think it’s important to realize that “laughing something off” doesn’t just mean standing there chuckling like an asshat. It means “to make light of a situation”, which is a process that can include making jokes and laughing.
Also, given the context:
It seems that they managed to diffuse the situation with Toriel by making jokes (probably relating to butter puns), which is why Asriel mentions “laughing it off” as something he thought was the correct thing to do.
Actually laughing at his dad’s pain itself would never be seen as the right thing to do by Asriel (jesus, he’s not stupid) and would definitely have alarmed the aforementioned Toriel, whose bullshit detector, by the way…
…could fry a snail at 25 yards.
Given that they kill themselves painfully with buttercups, it seems they really were deeply, deeply disturbed by what happened, made light of it to cope and de-escalate the situation, and this was their chosen method of making it up to them: enduring the symptoms themselves and giving their soul up in an effort to break the barrier.
There’s another clue to this later on, in the True Lab:
For Snowy’s mother, you are given the same act options with her as you did with her son (the other amalgamates also have options relating to their less drippy counterparts).
But choosing laugh elicits a very strange reaction from the narrator (who is already acting strangely, repeating “It’s so cold” over and over the entire fight).
They seem to have zoned out completely during the fight, and describe an action that Frisk does not, in fact, do, but more likely what Chara themselves felt like doing.
Choosing to laugh again makes the Chara snap at you:
And, despite laughing “until tears ran down their face”, they don’t say “But you don’t think it’s funny”. They say “But it’s not funny”. It’s a statement of fact, not of Frisk’s feelings; Chara doesn’t think it’s funny.
Interestingly, there’s a situation that corresponds to this.
It’s Snowy’s dad. Consider that you’re talking to Snowy’s mother here.
It’s a parallel to what he said. Neither Chara nor Snowy’s father think it’s funny, and they say so outright.
Seems they’re using laughter to cope with a situation that disturbs them so much that they became disoriented and even incorrectly describe something Frisk completely didn’t do.
And that the laughter is a stress response that they “can’t stop”, even while they’re crying.
Which is, uh, hardly unheard of.
And, interestingly, choosing to “heckle”…
…results in an even more disoriented response, in which they don’t even state what they think you did, but guess you said “something like it”. It’s a little concerning to think where they may have pulled this exact response from.
Choosing to heckle again results in them heckling you.
This response wasn’t something “you” said, so it wasn’t said out loud. Given that this space is for Frisk’s ears, or else this dialogue would have raised some goat-brows…
…they are directing this towards you, who have chosen on your own to “heckle” twice. This is a parallel to the somewhat snappy “But it’s not funny” that they say upon you choosing “laugh” twice (which must confuse them), and also to another situation.
If you continue to heckle - and continue to heckle - Snowy over and over, suddenly Frisk says something quite mean, and the narrator’s tone is obviously dismayed. Likewise, it’s a little concerning to think where Frisk might have pulled this response from.
Although some think the “you”, unlike ever before, is somehow Chara here because Frisk is a Mary Stu who can do no wrong. Actually, it is the player who chooses the action. Frisky Bits just does the details.
Chara also gets concerned if you keep ignoring Greater Dog…
And they get pretty judgmental about the candy dish.
All the bad ACTs are on you, if you choose them. Saying the bad ones must be all Chara and the good ones must be Frisk is just wrong, when all ACTs are done by “you”, the player, Asshole in Chief. If anything is done by Chara, they always narrate it as “I”, and since you’re controlling Frisk, Frisk’s actual input is limited.
Chara’s just providing the options, so you can act good, or bad (or “burn”, or “cry”)  with complete freedom, thus not impairing your “guidance” with any bias that actually prevents you from choosing an action.
Mostly.
As for the laughter in the Edgy Exigency, these times are a case of corruption, calling back to earlier…
…in which the dog food bag only becomes funny after killing 21+ people. Since it was not funny before, it can be surmised that there’s been a critical change in the narrator directly from killing over 20 people.
Basically, you turned them into another Flowey (except one who’s in Frisk’s head) who really does laugh at misfortune, even though it isn’t Flowey’s true nature, and it’s not Chara’s, either, or they’d always find the bag funny if all the dogs were dead.
It doesn’t take just a soulless person to find this funny; it takes corrupting them, too.
Back to goats.
Okay, so obviously these two were close in life.
The other monsters noted that they became like siblings.
Flowey says that they were “inseparable”.
They were constant playmates:
And together in embarrassment over the nose-nuzzles.
They also seemed to confide in one another and talk quite a lot:
Asriel might have played a caretaker role of sorts to Chara. He knew they were suicidal, and there’s a line of Flowey’s that sticks out:
He had some sort of reason to think Chara would find it surprising that he was suicidal and that he would want to “follow in their footsteps”.
It’s possible that he tried to talk them into wanting to live, or encouraged them, and reassured them, on more than one occasion, and that this is why Flowey thinks Chara might not believe he’d try to “follow in their footsteps” and “erase himself from existence”.
Asriel also tries to caretake Frisk, too.
It’s who he is. Asriel is a person of sympathy and compassion, two huge fundamental aspects of his personality (which is why he changed so much when he lost the ability to feel those things), whereas Chara seems to be a person of empathy and analysis.
During their conversations, Chara likely relayed some of their experiences or views on humans to him:
even if the exact reason they hated humanity stayed secret. It was likely during those conversations that their strong hatred for humanity became apparent.
And it seems that Chara might have tried to take care of Asriel in the same way, given this line exists:
During this part of that run, Flowey hasn’t said this before, so it was something he told them during life. Asriel told Chara during their lifetimes that “they were the only one who understood him”.  Except this time, Chara is unique in that they’re the only other person able to share the experience of being soulless.
He also says this during the Pacifist run:
It seems that Asriel was also going through something during this time of his life, and Chara offered up (apparently accurate) analyses of his character or his feelings, which made him feel understood by them.
Chara does have the potential for trying to “caretake” someone, given that they try it with Frisk sometimes…
and they also spend a lot of time analyzing Frisk’s feelings during the narration.
However, Chara seems to be able to be very strict sometimes regarding acting “grown-up” (even with their way of speaking) …
so it seems they and Asriel must have been close or the same age, and Chara very determined that he act his age to the point of harshness.
They seem relent on this somewhat with Frisk, giving them the option to “Cry” on the battle with the then-invincible MTT (so maybe Frisk is a few years younger?)…
but they draw the line on acceptable sobbing conduct for someone Frisk’s age, um, somewhere.
(it should be noted that this is the narrator speaking, not MTT, who already has a speech bubble next to him and speaks in all caps)
But according to Flowey, they seem to have had fun playing together:
But for Asriel, it’s not just because they’re “special” for still being fun to play with and understanding him:
He just really, really cares about them.
Like, really really cares about them.
(although I would not go so far to say - like some people apparently have - that his attempted murder - while a soulless person - of someone he thought was Chara just to keep them from leaving him, was a sign in and of itself that he cares about them; it was definitely not good behavior there)
So, uh, anyway, like, one would hope all that (non-soulless behavior) love is mutual.
Well, given that the narrator completely loses their shit when he shows up:
it’s evident that they do have some pretty strong feelings about him. (the last occurs randomly during his fight, up to several times, and never gets that shaky outside of it)
During his fight (as with Toriel and Asgore) the narrator’s Serious Mode is entered. They are in fact, pretty serious. They keep talking about the end of the world…
and their CHECK is somber:
while Asriel uses the same attacks Toriel does.
Then he goes rainbowy, floats around, starts using stars instead of fire to attack.
…and suddenly the narrator gets super excited.
They change his name to rainbows in the text, the CHECK text for him suddenly gets really… childish?
And suddenly they know every move he’s about to use, and they make sure Frisk knows, too.
Which all are named attacks, which is completely unique, and a little silly.
Yeah, I’m making the case for it.
It’s Asriel’s edgy deviantart OC.
He and Chara are playing their childhood game again.
And Asriel is taking his turn to be the sassy shonen antagonist, complete with unique evil laughter for this persona that he doesn’t use even as Flowey:
And that apparently sounds like this.
So maybe the “Demon Who Comes When People Calls Its Name” is Chara’s edgy villain OC to Asriel’s “God of Hyperdeath”? But, uh, that’s HOPE stuff and we’re not there yet. so forget you just read that.
Eventually Asriel (who says he’d been holding back to make “The God of Hyperdeath”) gets serious again, and the narrator is back to pessimistic despair.
And, of course, we know the whole sequence where his memories with Chara are triggered.
After that, when Asriel’s talking about how much he cares about Chara…
Chara goes quiet in their narration for the entire rest of the fight  (as they have for Toriel and Asgore’s fights). What he says here definitely means something to them.
Asriel also seems to have owned a locket (possibly matching, but at least one that was his) that said “Best Friends Forever”:
that Chara gave him,  which he takes immense pride in.
So they’ve probably told him before that he was their best friend. And they trusted him enough to talk about wanting to erase themselves, and climbing the mountain.
And, of course, they trusted them with their soul when they died, when they could have quite possibly more easily convinced another, more human-hating monster to take it.
I’d say they loved him.
I don’t think they could have predicted the events that would occur as a consequence of their failed plan.
But, as much as they loved each other, their relationship, as we know, wasn’t perfect.
After Asriel initially says he doesn’t like the plan, it seems like they press forward with their reasons. They seem pretty deadset on the plan happening. I think they had already decided to kill themself a while ago; they had a detailed plan already in mind for it.
Then, after he agrees, they must have asked something like “do you think I’m wrong?” or “do you doubt that it will work?” and this idea seems to actually offend Asriel, who had been speaking haltingly before then.
And this is where things go wrong. If Chara had listened more to why he didn’t like the plan before going forward with their reasons for it, maybe they would realized he really didn’t want to go through with it, not just because he didn’t want them to die…
but because he also didn’t really want to kill.
If Asriel hadn’t thought Chara was above imperfections, and knew that he could still be a good friend while doubting them if they were doing something wrong, he could have told them when prompted why he didn’t like the plan.
Even on their death bed, never doubting them is a huge moral concern for him that he uses to convince himself that the plan is right.
It’s possible, given the time, and the fact that they were only like 12 when all this went on, that they could have worked on these issues and matured into a more equal, healthy relationship. But we have no way of knowing what could have happened.
Here’s what did happen, by the end of Pacifist:
Asriel comes to terms with the fact that Chara wasn’t perfect, an undeniably healthy development. And despite apparently previously finding enough similarity in Frisk and Chara to confuse the two, Asriel finally realized the difference. Pacifist Frisk has refused to kill even in self-defense, and Chara didn’t.
 But I think he might has another reason for telling Frisk all of this, including this line…
See, in the Neutral-Pacifist route (not following an aborted Murderous Mumbo, that is) he seems to get this idea that Frisk is Chara, calling them up on the phone as Asriel, pretty quickly after the Photoshop Flowey fight.
He brushes this off as “projection” (which likely did have something to do with it)
but then he talks to Chara after Pacifist, knowing that they were with Frisk, knowing they could SAVE.
And even seems to have an idea before the fight that Chara is inside Frisk.
So what he’s telling Frisk here isn’t entirely true, but he also doesn’t out them by name as the voice in Frisk head (as Chara hasn’t outed themselves, although Frisk could likely guess) but he does make sure Frisk knows a little about them for the road.
Then, of course, we have Flowey’s conversation with Chara at the end of Pacifist, which is our biggest indicator for where they stand.
He’s still taking the time to reassure them that everything is okay, and tells them not to worry, a role he probably played in life, too.
He talks about the resets, says he couldn’t do it all again, and guesses that Chara was fighting to stop them…
And:
He’s making it clear from the get-go that he doesn’t approve of resets himself, and if Chara were to go that route, he wouldn’t go along. Considering what happened before, it’s a massive development, and absolutely a healthy one.
He’s made it obvious that he still cares about them, that he wants them not to worry, and acknowledges his own actions as Flowey, but he will now let them know if he thinks something is wrong, and tell them if he doesn’t want to do it.
And during his last moments, he watches over their grave.
I don’t think he stopped caring about them.
This would leave some hope for, maybe, a healthier friendship than they had when they were alive… but it’s also true that neither of them have a soul by the end of Pacifist, and a lot has happened since they did, so it will never be what it was, or could have been.
Both of them have, however, found some peace, and it’s possible that they communicate intermittently like they did here.
Unless you reset. That button is actually yours to press, unlike what Flowey thinks. If you leave everything be, Chara doesn’t do it on their own, even though they’ve proven they can act without player input.
Okay, so there’s this common misconception that Chara is constantly harassing Frisk to just kill a monster, already. By now we ought to know that’s not true…
…because they just want to see what Frisk thinks is correct, since they no longer think they know what the right thing to do is themselves, after their plan failed.
Whatever Frisk does, they can come up with a reason to justify it, because they’re soulless and think Frisk is their “guide”.
But what we haven’t covered is that Chara is actually - outside of the Shin-stabbing Shindig - a dirty monster apologist.
They
will
white-knight
for
every
monster.
Even while these things are shooting bullets at Frisk.
Chara, as we know, hates humanity, but in life they tried to martyr themselves to break the barrier, and the monsters took better care of them than humans ever did. They don’t hate them.
And it might surprise you to know that they found an idol among them.
Undyne is, technically speaking, fucking cool, and Chara knows it. It’s likely they didn’t know each other while Chara was alive (because Undyne has to guess if Toriel is Asgore’s ex) but no matter what route you take, they’re impressed with her.
In Neutral-Pacifist, they describe her as:
And they start getting really, really dismayed if she starts dying on a Neutral route.
Even during That Time in Which the Amount of Fun You Will Have is Actually Rather Small I Think, even after they’ve taken to describing other monsters dismissively…
they describe her the same way as they always have as they always have.
As the heroine.
So what were they like?
I have no idea. By the time they show up in Undertale’s timeline, they don’t have a soul, so it’s hard to get an exact idea of what their true personality was like. I think the neutral route, and details of their old life with the Dreemurs, are the fairest ways to estimate this.
So, they were, as we know, fairly strict on some things.
And they often try to talk like a “grown-up”.
But they’re also still pretty childish sometimes.
And somewhat of a messy child.
They were quite possibly anxious.
They were artistic:
with the ability to draw, and hand-knit a sweater for a goat the approx size of a small car, which must have taken them damn near forever, so they were capable of the dedication to finish large projects.
They were also able to read fairly advanced books, given that they quote Japanese literature  word-for-word on one occasion:
so they’re obviously pretty intelligent.
They enjoyed gardening, which might be related to their love of the golden flowers:
and while their knowledge is limited, they get excited learning new things about plants:
They’re capable of being highly empathetic:
which does not mean they’re always sympathetic.
They can be teasing…
harsh…
and warm.
And they were suicidal, and extremely self-destructive…
And they are bitter, and wrathful, over something we don’t know about.
which has made them very determined to hold people accountable for their actions, particularly with resets.
Also, they, uh, really like dogs.
Except this one:
Okay, maybe this one too.
Even if he can’t knit for shit.
They were some kind of weeb??
They have a sense of humor:
They seem to have an interesting way of dealing with upsetting emotions, starting with irony…
to silence…
and, when things get really bad, tearful laughter.
And, ultimately, whether they find peace, whether they accept Asriel’s view point as right or wrong…
…depends on your “guidance”.
wait, wasn’t that just a tl;d-
Congratulations! You have reached The E-
You want some HOPE, dontcha?
You can leave now. Really. This is just for all the things I couldn’t find a place for in the main analysis because I suck ass at organizing, or that I couldn’t find enough evidence for. And just wild theorizing. And you wouldn’t like that, would you?
There’s a message in the strings of the data from Chara, that doesn’t show up ingame under any circumstances; it’s a message for people who look at the game data. Right at the very top.
And it’s not just for genocidal players, either, or it’d have been put in the currently-empty files you get upon completely that route. Any dirty hacker could find this message, even one who never completed that run, like my weak ass.
Here it is:
Why this definitely has something to do with Gaster:
  • He got a lot of attention in the new patch, and this only shows up in the patched strings
  • Chara usually calls themself partner, not servant
  • It’s in the strings, not the game
Why this definitely has nothing to do with Gaster:
  • There’s no evidence they knew each other in life; related skeletons (Sans and Papyrus) don’t even recognize Toriel, their mom.
  • Additionally, the plan to break the barrier couldn’t have been Gaster’s
    because it sucked ass and he was supposed to be brilliant. Plus, it’d require Chara, a child, to commit suicide.
  • Chara is currently chillin in Frisk’s head so there’s not much opportunity for communication between the two unless Frisk is also there, or the Mysterious Black Void really is just that mysterious.
  • The player is the one who reads the strings, and the message it replaces in the old version was directed to the player.
Illuminati not confirmed. Illuminati ambiguous.
Yes, they were. They had a human soul strong enough to give Asriel the power to cross the barrier.
The reason people don’t recognize the Frisk-Chara Combo Pack as human sometimes, specifically in the No-Mercy run, is because…
…their actions indicate someone without a human soul. Flowey seems to think this disqualifies someone from their status as a human.
By the way, Flowey’s lack of a monster soul seems to make others hold him in a category outside of monsters (who even have snowmen in their ranks):
Besides that, Asgore clearly recognized them as human in life, and in Frisk after their death, like I said, but no longer recognizes them now.
Also, it’s the game way of calling you a monster for doing that run, you nerd.
Okay, so we know “The Absolute GOD of Hyperdeath!” is Asriel’s villain OC, with it’s own unique laughter…
that he doesn’t use while Asriel the Kid
or Flowey the Flower.
…so it’s some kind of completely separate villain persona he’s made up to be edgy and cool and it shoots rainbows and stars, unlike his regular fire attacks. Chara seems to know about his OC and what his attacks are called, so I imagine it started as a game they played.
What if Chara’s counter to “The Absolute GOD of Hyperdeath” was “The Demon Who Comes when People Call It’s Name”?
And since we know Flowey’s “creepy face” is associated with the GOH…
maybe Chara’s “creepy face” was associated with their edgy villain OC?
But that’s just a theory.
It seems they refer to themselves by neutral pronouns at least twice:
and Asriel does too:
aaand that’s all there is to say about that. lol
They act serious and intelligent, but the KS describes them as a “small child”…
not a teenager, so I’m gonna guestimate their age at like, 12. so stop drawing them in creepy stuff and shipping them with adults, you freaks.
NO!!!
I see people throw out the “bandage” as proof that Frisk is, in fact…………………………………….a zombie.
Frisk does start with a bandage, but the things in the coffin? Not exactly bandages.They’re described as mummy wrappings. Not a single bandage, used many times.
On top of that, we can see that when Chara (who is in the intro dated 201x, “the date I came here” with their single striped shirt) fell there were no flowers.
However, Frisk’s fall was broken by the flowers.
And when Frisk comes in, the ground around the flowers is not dug up.  Chara is still buried there.
Frisk has their own soul, whereas Chara’s was combined with Asriel’s and destroyed.
Frisk is a whole different person, with a whole different name, and a whole different soul. And, uh, differently colored clothes, with different numbers of stripes. I really hope that’s not what convinces you.
It seems that Chara may be a few years older than Frisk, given the difference in behavior (Frisk “waving their hands wildly” to “conduct”) and the way they expect Frisk to be excited by toys, and the nursery rhyme dummy check. I’d guestimate Frisk’s age at 8-11? so stop drawing them in creepy stuff and shipping them with adults, you freaks.
However…despite this…
They seem to be the same height…
Hi ^^ i have a usuk request where arthur and alfred are boyfriends but for some reason alfred never go to arthur home, and that reason is because arthur dont want for his 3 protective older brothers, but his mother find arthur has a boyfriend and tell everybody, and she wants that arthur invite to him for a dinner family for to meet him (the rest i leave to you :D ) sorry for my bad english
Sorry!! I found this very hard to write for some reason? I’m not sure why, so I opted for an easy way out bc ily and I wanted to write this for you, so I hope this was something like you imagined it to be!
I’m also trying out a new style so sorry if it seems like a big chunk of MESS.
Of course, the one he had broken happened to be Allistair Kirkland’s favorite mug.
He remembered it like it was yesterday, the phrase being limited to just that, a phrase, because it happened only half an hour ago. Being surrounded by the harpies that were Arthur’s brothers; three, that with their position seated in a specific order, had a comical coincidence of each of their heads having hair redder than the one that sat to the left of them.
Allistair, hair bright red; Patrick, hair almost orangey; William, strawberry blond.
That, of course, was as far as the comedy had gone that evening because Alfred Jones was positively shaking.
Shaking because damn him for assuming he wouldn’t be nervous to meet his boyfriend’s family! His boyfriend’s family! For the first time! It was something he had begged and pleaded Arthur to let him do, only to receive in response something along the lines of- “You wouldn’t want to, love!”
He should’ve listened- along with the fact that he was quite destructive when he felt out of place, as he was sure to feel in a room full of people with funny accents and funnier manners that mirrored the ones in his boyfriend he found so charmingly different.
They weren’t so charming then. Thick, menacingly dark brows. That boiling aura of passive-aggressiveness. Alfred had been nervous to approach Arthur the first time they had met, fingers twitching, dropping anything and everything in his hands- which had then included the books he needed for fourth period- letting the most atrocious things tumble out of his lips.
“Arthur Kirkland, was it? I buy a lot of Kirkland brand products!”
And now he’d done it again. He’d fucked up, he’d dropped things, said things, and now, as he stood on the porch of Arthur’s doorstep, gazing down at his boyfriend who seemed to be avoiding eye contact, he knew today was the day Arthur Kirkland would finally break up with him.
Could you share your thoughts on following statements from people (I’m not one of them and completely disagree) who don’t want Reylo to happen: 1) He doesn’t deserve her; she is just too good and pure for him in every way. 2) Rey is a Mary Sue, villain falling in love with her – is just boring and non-original.
WOW. Buckle up! Thanks for these two points, as I FEEL VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT THEM BOTH.
(1) First of all, the main point I need to touch on.
LOVE or COMPASSION is not something that any person deserves to be *deprived* of.
I’m sorry, but people’s view of love in this context is so warped to me. Sure, love and respect do need to be earned, of course. But to say that someone *must be* or *deserves to be* deprived of love or compassion - despite anything they may do to change and become a better person - is pretty damn cynical if you ask me. Love and compassion are not “betting chips” that you play to bargain with by your good deeds. You don’t exchange “good deeds” and “rainbows, butterflies, and unicorn horns” for love and compassion.
Love and compassion are inherent parts of human connection between people who find a kindred spirit - for whatever reason that the two involved people end up deciding is worth giving that love and compassion over.
There are a lot of reasons to “love” or have compassion for people - beyond, “OMG UR A PERFECT CINNAMON ROLL.” That’s a very childish and unrealistic - and frankly messed up - view of what love is… in my opinion.
Love is built up over time, through relationships and experience - not tally marks on a report card of “Good and Evil”.
If Rey and Ben fall in love, it will be based on a relationship they build through experiences together, helping and understanding each other, and mutual trust and connection - not this subjective scorecard the fan base is keeping on whether or not he “deserves” her, or she deserves “better.”
But personal views on ethics aside, looking at both characters in a more comprehensive way, I think this is just - another - simplistic analysis of complex characters and story.
First, their arcs aren’t finished yet. We don’t even yet know what either of them will “deserve” by the end of it. We don’t know Ben Solo’s backstory yet - which I predict is our big “twist” for TLJ anyway (we gonna be real surprised by Benny boy and what happened with Luke, I think). By the end of it, who knows - Ben Solo could come to be a golden hero beyond wildest imagination! (I mean, I’m exaggerating, but…)
Let the story finish before you cast a stone at the character and your imagined dynamics he will have with the other characters in the future. I keep saying it - but we have to trust Lucasfilm to write the story we need, but not necessarily the one everybody thinks they want.
Second, I WILL BE DAMNED if people call Rey a “perfect angel cinnamon roll.” FIGHT ME. Because girl is:
-FIERCE
-Angry
-Aggressive
-Can be quick to judge others - whether in naivety or impulse
-Tough/rough around the edges
-Lonely and DESPERATE for belonging
-Overeager to please, and easily disappointed when she doesn’t receive praise
-VERY RELUCTANT to change - just keeps wanting to go back or avoid moving forward in her journey (the only reason she keeps moving is because circumstances are out of her control)
-Very sad and likely bitter at those who didn’t return for her on Jakku
-Probably going to grow a lot in TLJ and face a lot of the darker aspects of her character - and likely make mistakes at this integral chapter in the story
-FEELS A PULL TO THE DARK SIDE. This is canon confirmed in the novelization and the script.
Here’s some proof our girl ain’t no goddamn cinnamon roll angel of perfection. She was drawn to the Dark Side. She gonna be drawn to it again.
To add on to this - y’all always talking about Rey’s autonomy and agency, her ability to “choose” her own story. So… what if she chooses the bad boy? Y’all gonna say, “Uh, NO BUT U **CAN’T** choose THAT guy!”
So…. which is it… she can or can’t choose her own path? She can or can’t make her own decisions and be whatever she’s supposed to in this - HER - story??? She gotta make all the right decisions YOU would make? That’s hardly a woman’s agency being portrayed.
That’s you forcing a fantasy on what you see as being the ideal woman. If she HAS to make CERTAIN decisions for you to respect her character… That’s the opposite of agency - in my opinion.
Showing women as “perfect angels” who deserve protection from the bad boys is stupid. This girl kicks ass, takes names, and doesn’t apologize for it. I think she can handle her own grown-ass self and whatever relationship suits her journey just fine. If that relationship is with Kylo/Ben, trust the writers to make it fit the story and serve her character development well.
(2) Rey IS NOT A MARY SUE. She runs away, she makes mistakes, she has character flaws, and she has a legitimate backstory for all the skills she has.
The skills she does have were informed by her survival. She knew about ships because she was a scavenger finding parts to sell for food. She had to know more about this subject to inform her own survival. She also used flight simulators - just like Luke - to learn her piloting skills. Her fighting skills are explained by being ALONE SINCE LIKE 6 YEARS OLD on a ruthless planet not really governed under any organized rule - a place that uses basically SLAVERY as a basis for economy. She is a young, pretty girl, living alone, who has to defend herself in a ruthless environment.
She’d have died if she couldn’t fight and hold her own by now.
As for her Force powers??? Well… I for one believe in the idea that she and Kylo shared a “Force bond” moment, and she got all of that fighting style and technique right out of Sad Boy’s head. She was mirroring his moves/techniques, his posture, and his facial expressions.
Not only all of the above, but she RUNS AWAY scared from her vision, the saber, and Kylo Ren on Takodana (she is scared shitless) - breaking the Mary Sue bullshit in and of itself - and later almost falls to the Dark Side at the end of the film.
Not to mention she exhibits negative character traits and flaws (listed above in the previous section for reference).
If anyone is a Mary Sue/Gary Stu, it’s fucking Anakin Skywalker. He was literally the “Chosen One” who just jumped on podracers and into fucking X-wings and magically piloted and fired seemlessly, knew how to do and build and make EVERYTHING EVER - at the ripe old age of fucking 6 years old (or however old he is in TPM - I’m obviously joking, before someone freaks out and calls me a fake SW fan). He never even tried to run away from being the “Chosen One” until he killed a bunch of 3 year olds at the Jedi Academy in RotS, so… (stand up guy, that one… anywayyyy….).
This argument is such a shallow, vacant reading of Rey’s character. It is a way to invalidate a legitimately strong and well-portrayed heroine who has a lot of layers that will only continue to deepen as the story goes along. No one ever dares call Anakin or Luke “Gary Stus,” despite them both fitting that description on paper WAY BETTER than Rey. Rey is not a perfect “ray of sunshine”.
SHE IS A LASER RAY BLASTING FROM A SUPER NOVA and she will DESTROY you… But only like, if you deserve it or whatever.
On the last bit… how is an enemy to lovers relationship EVER BORING??? People who think this: GIVE ME THAT EXAMPLE???? I don’t even know how to justify that with an answer lol. It’s the most dynamic unpredictable relationship I can imagine! Bringing together two opposites to fit as a cohesive team… it’s so exciting and dramatic! Very Star Wars! No relationships are functional and normal in SW…. like never. That’s not sarcasm, that is real right there. They all fucked - all of them.
Anyway, as always, I am very ramble-y, but I hope you appreciate my disparate thoughts coming together…
Thanks for the great ask!
too-many-goddamn-fandoms  asked:
For the honesty hour thing: So, how did you fall in love with Sakuya, and want attracts you to his character? Im interested in this!
Lol girl did I ever tell you that I love you?
It took me awhile to answer this because I needed to collect my thoughts about it. AHAHA TAKE A SEAT EVERYONE. Okay gosh where to begin….. THIS IS LIKE THE INTERVIEW I WAS WAITING FOR. HA.
Well, as some people know I wasn’t extremely fond of Sakuya when I first started Servamp about….7-8 months ago? I didn’t hate him or anything, just didn’t really care for him at first. (but that kinda goes for quite a bit of characters really, but everyone grows on me at some point. ^^)
I think what really got to me was after learning about his past and how it affected his motives, relationships and current situation in the series.
So many aspects about his characters just make so much sense but I feel like are just kinda looked over……. probably cause his backstory was kinda glazed over real quick, in my opinion at least. (Like why dammit? I have so many questions still, this series can’t do this to me.) It just really kills me inside, especially the more I thought about it and the more I think about his character.
I’m gonna kinda express some of my new random thoughts on his past , cause this intrigues me oddly: (Kinda theory time right now whoooo) AND ALL IS WHAT GIVE ME SO MANY FEELINGS MY GOSH.
Just thinking about the extent of the abuse he must’ve suffered is something that really boggles my mind…… We know it went on for years, those 6 years before his “death” and then probably a few more before that obviously, when his sister was still alive. Who’s knows how long she had to endure it though? She was much older, Sakuya was about 9 at the time, and she appeared to be High School (or maybe Middle School can’t really tell with the uniform.)
She was also the one covered in bandages after all, and we couldn’t see any visible scars or injuries on Sakuya. So she obviously took all the beatings so he wouldn’t have too most likely but after when she died I’m sure things got worse for poor little Sakuya.
But this is my other biggest thing about the abuse he went through…
How come he never tried running away?
We all know his parents threatened to do the same thing to him as they did to his older sister, but could he really not just try and leave before anything happened? Maybe not until he got a bit older.. but still….
Was his parents that controlling? I doubt his parents even cared enough to hunt him down if he did run away…. So why didn’t he try? Did they really keep him that locked in? Its so hard for me to imagine him being and feeling that hopeless, did he have zero fight inside him?
It’s hard to imagine him not fighting back in the slightest. But he could have been a very different person back when he was human too, of course. Maybe more meek and submissive… again who knows. (To be honest, I am extremely curious about to what most of the vampires characters were like before they were vampires and who and what they did before as well.
But anyway, do you think Sakuya put up with it…
Because it was ALSO a loyalty thing??!? I’m making no jokes here. Hear me out, even if he hated his parents(I’m sure he did obviously, even though he never explicitly said he did, because we had Tsubaki tell his story, and not Sakuya.)
Do you think he never tried running away or whatever, because he just felt like he just couldn’t? Like he was betraying something? Maybe not his parents, just because “They are my parents…. whether I like it or not. I have to listen to them…
But maybe because of his sisters death? Like he felt like he had to endure it like she did for him?? I mean…. he was told:
“You don’t want your sister’s death to be a waste, right?”
YOU GUYS GET WHAT I AM SAYING HERE RIGHT? History can repeat itself….
(This boy is gonna kill me with his conflicted ass)
Maybe there wasn’t actually much physical abuse doing those years… Maybe at least for as long as he did what they said and stayed out of their way and kept their secret. But I kinda already talked about this part in a post about what I think happened to his parents after he became a vampire. (I am very sensitive about this topic alright?)
We know they killed his sister so they could get insurance money(ughh so sickening) but did they really try to kill Sakuya for more money? They would only be two people at that point…… so that’s why a part of me is like, “there’s gotta be a greater reason.” The best conclusion I came up with was “They killed him because maybe he tried to TELL someone.”
Think about it. Sakuya hates lies, he had to lie his whole life basically. He takes it very serious and to heart. WE KNOW THIS.
We know he only kept it a secret because he was threatened and didn’t want his sister’s death to be in vain…. But maybe he eventually cracked under all the pressure… And maybe tried speaking about it or was planning too and then… That was also the day he died…… Damn…. I just stabbed myself in the heart.
So yes, his past is a big factor on why I found him so interesting initially when I was new to this fandom/series, I was really hoping we would see his past elaborated a bit or learn more and see what he does and how on earth Mahiru was gonna “save him.”
I could go on and on about these two as well. Not in a shippy way…. but friendship or romantic, considering his past it makes sense to why he’s attached to Mahiru. Again in another post where I “defended his character” I guess you could say, I talked about how Sakuya’s “screwed up friendship methods” and how he really dug himself into a hole. -__- But I was saying its almost hard to blame him for going about the way he did. BECAUSE IT JUST MAKES SENSE SADLY.
Sakuya is a real lonely and distant kinda guy. After he sister died I’m sure he didn’t have much light in his life then. No one to talk too, no one who understood. No one who loved him. I’m sure growing up during those 6 years he was probably afraid to get close to anyone. What was school like for him then…. did he really have no friends at all for 6 years? It’s crazy to think about right? His childhood was anything but normal….
But then he received a “second chance” after Tsubaki found him and I’m sure Mahiru’s kind-hearted nature really drew him in, it’s not wrong for him to really want a friend, yeah he did go the complete wrong way about it, but unfortunately lies and deceit is all he knew how to do. He found some light in his life, and he was willing to do anything to hold on to that for as long as he could. Also HE KILLS ME because he regretted lying to Mahiru so much and did all the awful things he did/said, BECAUSE HE WAS HOPING MAHIRU WOULD HATE HIM and have his Servamp KILL HIM because he felt that was the only way to apologize for everything. and BOIII did that really kill me. AND THEN MAHIRU FORGAVE HIM STILL and now look at where he is with his conflicted loyalty….
YOU SEE WHERE I AM COMING FROM AVI!?!? AHHHH.
-inhales- ALSO ONE THING I NEED TO GET OFF MY CHEST BECAUSE THIS REALLY BOTHERS ME. Before ANYONE says “Mahiru is too forgiving about the whole fake memories thing and shouldn’t have forgiven Sakuya or be his friend.” Cause I HAVE heard someone say this and it makes me angry.
BECAUSE then you are ALSO SAYING:
  • Mahiru shouldn’t have forgiven and accepted Kuro for his past and all his sins and regrets, that he never shared with him. Also for attacking Mahiru that one time, lets not forget.
  • Mahiru shouldn’t be friends or ever trust Lawless because he’s killed so many eves and killed all of Tsubaki’s subclass and who knows what else he’s done?
  • Mahiru shouldn’t be finding a way to stop Tsubaki without killing him, because he’s not worth it.
  • Mahiru shouldn’t be trying to save Tsurugi either because he’s also done bad things.
  • AND SO ON.
SO SCREW EVERYONE WHO SAYS THAT. Cause you’re basically saying NO CHARACTER deserves happiness. -exhales- Sorry I just feel very strongly about that and I forgot to mention this in my defense post awhile ago. I feel better now~
So about Sakuya’s damn conflicted loyalty between Tsubaki and Mahiru. How are things gonna go from here?.WHICH ROUTE MY GUY? I WANT TO KNOW.
Tbh he’s kinda similar to Tsurugi in a sense (a certain someone kinda opened my eyes about that) that the whole “afraid to start something new because this is all that I’ve ever known and honestly I don’t know how to feel anymore?” kinda sense.
Although Tsurugi is debatablely the saddest character in servamp right now (backstory and current situation and all ARE WAYYY more painful.)
What? Just cause Sakuya is my fave didn’t mean I’m completely biased about him. He sad. But not the SADDEST. I just thought I would mention this cause the parallels kinda fascinate me.
I WANT SAKUYA TO TAKE SOME ACTION. HE’S FREE NOW RIGHT??? What’s he gonna do now??? What’s he planning to do!?!? STILL WAITING HERE.
. Ughh its probably gonna be awhile until we get anything about Sakuya again. Which is fine. Cause its not his arc right now.
 WE GOT BIGGER PROBLEMS IN THE MANGA. MUCH MORE PRESSING THINGS INDEED.
But still I’m extremely curious… To what he might do in the future…. I mean Sakuya and even Lilac are still running around freely unlike the other melancholy members at the moment? So will he somehow be involved with that later??? Will he find Tsubaki??? WHERE ARE YOU MY BOY?
Ughh I’m having Sakuya withdraw lol… I hope he gets to do something exciting or important soon…. Tanaka strike is TEASING ME by putting him in so many recent official arts but then NOT IN THE ACTUAL STORY. WHYYYY. (well we do see Sakuya in a recent bonus chapter so….)
I HOPE THAT MEANS STRIKE PLANS TO INCLUDE HIM AGAIN SOON. I’ll take it as foreshadowing *sobs* Strike obviously hasn’t forgotten about him….so JUST waiting and watching now.
Waiting and watching….
Sorry, that got so angsty above I wanted this post to be positive too.. So here are good/fun things I like about him:
  • Even though he character design absolutely baffles me(yes I mean the hair) I gotta say I really love it~ His hair is really something original that’s for sure. HA. His design also helped immediately catch my attention to him also I may have a bit of a “stripes bias” ahaha I own A LOT of stripe shirts myself lol always have and always will.
  • He owns a lot of pink accessories and wears pink a lot too! LET. BOYS. WEAR. PINK. YES. YOU. GO. MY. BOY.  He rocks it fight me.
  • He’s cool and I’m kinda curious on what his subclass ability is. If there is even one for him. Weapons seem to be his specialty. (F.E knives, chainsaw(which I am still trying to figure out how magically pulled out in AN ELEVATOR!?! And can make a sword outta blood apparently.
 But I don’t really trust the animes canon….) Also his little black strap things have a function??? THEY ARE ALIVE. WHAT
  • Look how happy Mahiru makes him. His smile is precious. He loves his friend so much I cry. I want them to be together and be friends again.
  • All the Tsubaki and Sakuya shenanigans make me laugh. One minute he’s crying to Mahiru “please don’t kill him” and the next you’re trying to put the guy into a fox trap. What even boi.
  • WANTS TO BE CALLED SAKKUN HOW CUTE IS THAT.
  • Has the best “yandere” expressions.
  • HE PRETTY STRONG and has great potential to be truly terrifying and useful. UNLEASH THAT POTENTIAL YOU GREEN EMO CHILD.
  • Another random thought I had was what would have things been like if Mahiru did choose to tell Sakuya about Kuro in the beginning like he originally planned? Might’ve still gone down the same way. But who knows?
  • (I could keep going tbh)
But for now I’m just gonna sweat about the BIGGER MATTERS THAT ARE CURRENTLY HAPPENING IN THE MANGA RIGHT NOW. HA….
Thank you for asking Aviiiii~ <3
Being raised Catholic obviously means being raised Christian but sometimes I forget how weird and out there Catholic beliefs are compared to other Christians.
Do other Christian groups have the trinity? Not just “father, son, Holy Ghost” but the explicit belief that God is all of those people separately AND simultaneously? We are not really supposed to find this comprehensible???
Speaking of mysteries, the Pascal Mystery? We also acknowledge that the whole passion/death/actual fucking resurrection/ascension to glory of the Christ doesn’t make any sense and that’s part of why it’s so fucking holy? We have a hymn that goes “dying he destroyed our deeeeeaaaath, rising he restored our liiiiiife.” TBH I don’t think it’s that mysterious but mysteriousness is sacred I guess.
Do other christians all swear they believe in the Transfiguration? I know most of you do Communion or Eucharist or whatever in some way buuut we’re out here agreeing on some wild shit we all know is fake??? The priest is like “this is my body, take this and eat of it in memory of me” and you know what? It’s still a fucking communion wafer. But we all have to agree it’s Literally Jesus Flesh. I’m not kidding. This is what we teach our children.
The entire concept of saints is weird.
One of my favorite Catholic terms is Holy Day of Obligation, which means you have to go to Church our you’re sinning. Every Sunday is a Holy Day of Obligation. Easter is a Holy Day of Obligation. Good Friday, Palm Sunday, etc. What honest Cardinal came up with Holy Day of Obligation??? Might as well have called it Holy Day of Oh Fuck Church AGAIN??? Holy Day of I Guess I Have To. Holy Day of My Mother Will Shame Me if I Skip
Do you guys have MAY CROWNINGS? You’ve probably heard that we’re High Fucking Key Obsessed with Mary (leftover goddess worship I like to think). But do you put #aesthetic flower crowns on Mary statues the first of every May? The first grade It Girl in my glass not only got to play Mary in our Christmas pageant but went on to get to CROWN HER. I just held the stupid ladder and trilled “oh Mary we crown you with BLO-SSOMS to-day” with the rest of the grade and I was so pissed. I’m reasonably certain you guys do Christmas pageants. But I know what I bet you didn’t do? Breakfast With Jesus. To be fair this is not a pope-sponsored event but it happened every year in the parish gym! There used to be this Capitalist holiday celebration in like……the 90s called Breakfast w/Santa. It was held at the mall. You took your kids there some Saturday morning to have shitty pancakes with a mall Santa and the idea was that if you were already at the mall at 9 AM, you’d spend the rest of the day worshipping your capitalist overlords there. My church decided they needed an event to COMPETE. Jesus was never actually in attendance. Just church lady eggs and shitty crafts and grumpy old people. Like I said, not pope-approved. But imagine the mindset that needs to compete with Mall Santa! Imagine!!!!! Do you…….do you know how we pick our popes? We don’t! We don’t know! I mean….we know the basic outline. All the cardinals get together for a Silly Red Outfit Convention. Vatican politics. Intrigue, I assume. Candidates are suggested, votes are cast, presumably the Da Vinci vault is opened and secrets are traded idk. But the deciding moment happens between closed doors and decisions are communicated to the public through COLORED SMOKE. In 5th grade when we were getting a new pope we all watched this happen on a tiny TV aaaaand that was what we did at school that day. Once the Holy Smoke declares he’s The Popiest, he’s Infallible. That means he’s Right About Everything Because God Told Him So. Technically we’re supposed to believe everything he does is perfect and like, follow his lead. (Hard to reconcile when you think about the pro-Nazi sentiment of a certain Pope of Christmas Past, huh?) This is the reason people thought the Vatican was gone take over the country when Catholic JFK was elected to the presidency. It’s an open secret that the priesthood is an ugly refuge for Catholic gay men. I’m not telling you this because I think it’s funny and I’m not telling you this as if it was a rule, but that’s what people think and usually don’t say. I’ve often wondered if part of the reason no one becomes a priest now is because like. Other fucking options exist. However I will not speak to the actual prevalence of gay priests. Our stance on Being Gay is also?? Bizarre? Compared to the rest of you christians? Like it’s horrible. But weird. “Gay people aren’t evil,” we say. “God made them the way they are! But any kind of acting on their gayness ever is a Big Old Sin lol.” It’s kind of…extra heartless when you think about it. Speaking of sin, um……..you guys don’t do Reconciliation/Confession I’m pretty sure. Probably you have heard of this one: We go into a Shame Box with an obscured priest and confess our misdeeds. (In this day and age almost no one has confessionals so the priest actually looks you in your eye and knows your name and it’s Horrible). But did you know that this is preceded by a mass shaming session? Confession isn’t available all the time. Either you go by request or you go when it’s being held. If there’s a big group the priest will prepare you by doing this weird speech which is supposed to make you feel super bad about everything you’ve ever done. I’ve always suspected this isn’t part of the catechism, they’re just trying to bring your sins to the surface to make their nights a little shorter. “Life starts at conception” may have started with us. Sorry. :/ But on the subject of abortion, I’ve only ever seen Catholic churchyards full of hundreds of tiny white crosses meant to represent the souls of aborted babies. I mean, I know there’s some pretty gross, extreme anti-abortion displays out there but this is unique in it’s subtlety and creepiness. I used to babysit for my cousin and she had a picture of one of these setups on her MANTLE. Like it was art!!!!! I…I could go on. But I’ll stop. We’re weird fuckers and it’s not just because we have an old guy in a big hat.
Hide is near, I can feel it
or I could be utterly wrong, lol.
Some people seemed to get terribly exited when I mentioned I have HideKane hype after the newest chapter. No presure, haha.
Ok, first off, let me put a few things straight, so that you can maybe understand some of my reasoning better:
1) In my book, Hide is a bit of any asshole. Or actually, he IS an asshole. To everyone aside Kaneki (and a few carefully selected others). No wonder he kinda got along with Nishiki, lol. What we’ve seen in Root A, the cinnamon bun Hide, isn’t the manga’s Hide. The manga’s (and novels’) Hide didn’t get himself killed (well personally I think he survived the anime as well, there’s a good explanation video on youtube about it) and we already know he’s done some bad shit (especially in the novel).
2) My favourite idea about who Hide is would be if he stayed a simple human. However, most recently so many things seem to point to the direction of the original OEK, that it might very well be true. I also liked the Washuu theory, but it seems to be greatly debunked by now (at least in terms of the theory’s importance to the story).
3) I used to be a big Touka fan. Ok maybe not big, but a fan. Notice the „used to“. There were some hints in that direction already before, but after 124 her character took such a deep plunge, I’ve lost all sympathy to her. So don’t be surprised, if I don’t talk in a kind way about her at some point, if I happen to talk about her at all.
4) I think Tokyo Ghoul is going to be a trilogy, we’ll know soon enough if I’m wrong or not lol.
And here we go:
So the chapter wasn’t particularly interesting, the Q’s aside, but then I checked a few things and it got me much more interested (or maybe it’s because I found my lost Tokyo Ghoul hype after watching the movie).
Obviously the Hide panel was great and I think it was a major hint that Hide’s still alive! I’ve seen someone mention it’s because Kaneki still didn’t accept Hide’s death, and while it’s plausible, I think Ishida specifically put Hide with it’s back to us because he’s still alive. He was the only character shown in that way.
Ages ago I’ve read this beautiful theory (but I have no idea from who it was and if someone knows please link me to it!) about Hide and Kaneki being set apart by Ishida in a way that makes Kaneki’s loss (or their mutual yearning really) very obvious for the reader as well: once Hide was gone, he was gone from everywhere. When Touka was gone from the story, we’ve still gotten tons of art. Not with Hide. We did get some meaningful mentions here and there, just to make sure we wouldn’t forget about Hide (not possible for his fans, but I’m always surprised how many readers of Tokyo Ghoul missed his significance for the story), but there was no art of him. And when he does get shown, it’s insanely important, like in :RE chapter 75. Maybe there’s even something with Hide’s face that Kaneki doesn’t know about yet, though somehow I don’t think so (since Amon didn’t change all that much).
Next thing is, personally I don’t believe one word from Kaneki right now. He puts himself into a certain role way too easily. It’s more convenient to play a role than acting on his own and having to be made responsible for his choices. The majority of ghouls expects him to be a leader, so he is, even though we know he doesn’t particularly care about that. Touka expect him to be her lover, so he is and acts the part perfectly. But the moment someone more interesting would pop up, he wouldn’t think twice about ditching everyone. Afterall, it was just a role. And Kaneki has done that in the past. And Touka seems to be aware of that herself, even though she’s just joking about the matter. (Really, she spend highschool among humans, not even she can be that dense to not know forcing someone to fuck isn’t a good start for a relationship.) The „more interesting“ person doesn’t have to neccessarily be Hide at this point though, though he’s the most obvious of course.
And most importantly, there’s the dandelion at the beginning! What does the dandelion symbolize? There are different meanings for the yellow bloom and the whitish-grey tufft of seeds, but I’ll be concentrating on the blossom, since that’s what we were given from sensei.
The dandelion stands for healing (both emotional and physical), survival (since the plant is sturdy as all fuck) and intelligence.
Now, it’s probably fairly obvious that all these things refer to Kaneki. He’s emotionally suffering for years (a short time as Haise aside, maybe), his body is about to give way and he’s a clever fellow.
Since there were two dandelions in the picture, most likely it means Kaneki won’t do anything on his own, someone will help him along the way.
Could this someone be Touka? I guess so. There are people who ended up really falling in love with someone they married (especially in arranged marriages). My biggest problem with this possibility is Touka’s lack of actual support towards Kaneki at any point in the past though. Don’t even get me started on this, she’s never ever supported that guy emotionally. Never. Not once. The one time she literally could’ve made a difference for him, she ended up screwing him (and technically the other time in part one she beat him up).
So who else could it be?
The dandelion has another meaning: it’s a symbol of the sun. And like a CRAZY symbol of the sun. So much so, that I was considering saying it symbolizes the sun even more than the sunflower does.
Dandelions are also symbolic of positivity, progress and survival – all pretty evocative of Hide.
The dandelion has been also linked to Christ’s self-sacrifice on the cross. Kaneki has been heavily implied for a self-sacrificial role similar to Christ’s throughout the series.
So that’s it, folks, now you know why I’m hyped for Hide’s reappearance and some HideKane interaction to go down very soon!
Different//Jughead Jones x Reader (part two)
You live on the South Side with your father when he gets arrested, forcing you to move in with your mother on the other side of town.
Words: 1060
Warnings: none
Go read part one if you haven’t! There’s literally nothing else on my blog so no need for a link lol. Hope you like that this one is a lot longer!! ALSO I CURRENTLY CANT GET ON A COMPUTER SO I CANT BOLD OR ITALIC ANYTHING SO ITS EVEN SUCKIER!! SRRY!!!
When Jughead entered the cafeteria that day, he didn’t understand why there was so much commotion. Usually, the groups at lunch would keep their own conversations at their own tables. However, he could tell as soon as he walked in that something was off.
Jughead walked slowly over to his lunch table in order to greet his friends, but when he reached them, all he got was stares.
“What? Do I have something on my face?” he asked, confused, and took a seat next to his best friend Archie.
“Have you not seen her, Juggie?” Betty says, folding her hands and placing them on the table as soon as he sits down.
“Seen who? What the hell are you guys talking about?” He says and begins to survey the room.
And that’s when he spots someone out of place. Very out of place.
“Gotta give it to her, she has guts,” V shrugs and folds her arms across her chest.
“Yeah, if that’s what you want to call it,” Betty replies, rolling her eyes slightly.
“What else would you call it?” Archie asks. “Wearing that, in here? Basically a death wish.”
“Exactly!” Betty exclaims. “It’s like she’s asking for it.”
The three friends suddenly realized that Jughead hasn’t said a word since he spotted the girl.
“Jug? You good?” Archie questions, raising his eyebrows, waving his hands in front of Jughead’s face.
Jughead snaps out of his trance, looking back at his friends,”I’m fine, but there’s obviously a reason why she’s here. And it can’t be a good one.”
“Why do you care?” Betty stares at Jughead, waiting for an answer. “Juggie?”
“Because she used to be my best friend.”
***
You felt every single student’s eyes on you in that cafeteria. You wanted to vomit.
But you weren’t going to let them take away who you were. It sounds dramatic, but being a serpent means a lot to you. They’re your family.
Your ears begin to pick up a conversation, as one person isn’t very keen on keeping it quiet. You only hear fragments of the conversation, but you know the direction it’s coming from. Which happens to be directly behind you, a couple lunch tables away.
You roll your eyes, sitting up slightly and turning to face a group of teenagers, all of their faces unfamiliar. All except one.
“Jughead?” you whisper his name so quietly that it almost gets drowned out by the loud beating of your heart traveling through your ears. Almost right after you said his name, he turned to look at you in bewilderment. He couldn’t have hear you, could he?
Your breath catches in your throat as he continues to look at you while his friends continue to carry on their conversation. A minute or so later, his attention is called back to his friends. As soon as his attention is off you, you bolt out of the cafeteria.
***
Once the school day is finally over, you can’t get out of that place fast enough. Especially since you, unsurprisingly, had been receiving mediocre threats throughout the day.
‘Go to hell’
‘You won’t last one more day here’
‘Serpent slut. Go back to your part of town’
These comments are exactly what you expected, so you didn’t pay much attention to them. But someone else did.
As you were walking down the sidewalk, away from the school, you felt someone’s eyes on you. You sigh, turning around to face your alleged stalker. Your breath catches in your throat once again. Jughead.
“What do you want?” you wrap your hands around the straps of your backpack, impatiently tapping your foot.
“Why did you wear that?” He asks, looking at you with a sad expression.
“What?” you ask, then grabbing the ends of your jacket,”Oh, you mean this? Isn’t that the million dollar question.”
“And the answer to that question is … ?”
You sigh,”I’ve been taken from my home, my school, and my friends. My family. The least I can do is shamelessly wear this jacket. But you already knew that. What did you really want to ask me?”
He opens his mouth for a moment, then closing it again,”I came to ask why you transferred to Riverdale.”
You look at him, your eyebrows furrowed,”You really don’t know?” you ask in a slightly lower voice than previously.
He shakes his head,”Haven’t really been in touch with the Serpents lately.”
“I see,” you cross your arms, looking at the ground for a moment before looking back up at Jughead. “My father was arrested. He was at the bar and he got into a fight. We don’t know who he got in a fight with, the other guy ran off. However, he was still arrested on some stupid charge.”
There is silence for a second as Jughead tries to figure out what to say,”I’m sorry. Riverdale isn’t all bad, though. I promise.”
You let out a small, sarcastic chuckle.
A confused expression appears on Jughead’s face,”What’s so funny?”
“Thanks, but I remember the last time you said ‘I promise’. It didn’t go so well,” you begin to walk away, but then you feel a hand on your shoulder.
“You know I didn’t mean for that to happen.”
“No one means to stop being friends with someone. I just wish you would’ve tried harder.” You shake his hand off of your shoulder, quickly walking away from Jug.
He watched you as you walked away, and once again did nothing to stop you.
You sigh heavily as an unwanted memour enters your mind.
Two years ago
“Summer’s almost over, J,” you break the silence. He could tell you were frowning without even looking at you.
“We still have a week,” he says and looks over at you with a small smile.
“One more week until we barely see each other. Especially since we’re about to start high school. It’ll be more hectic than ever.” You reply, continuing to stare into the night sky.
“You’ll always be my best friend. No matter what. If even by some slim chance we end up not friends anymore, you’ll always hold that spot.”
You look at him, smiling warmly. You reach over, pecking him on his cheek and he grins.
You didn’t know at the time that it was the last happy night you two would spend together.
I always see people's headcanons on what they think bts would be like in bed and seeing as you're an almighty writer with a vast array of types of smut, I wondered what your headcanons for them are!!! I'd love a kind of in depth response because I'm greedy but however you want to respond, I'm interested ❤️
haha am I an almighty writer? or am I just thirsty as hell with too many ideas? :P either way, I typically avoid answering these types of questions because I don’t think anyone actually wants to hear my honesty since I would typically think they are all inexperienced and would probably come after being touched for like two seconds. BUT… if we’re just having fun here, then I’ll give you what I could actually picture them being like (in my opinion, before anyone wants to disagree with me. feel free to make your own post lol).
WINGS You Never Walk Alone Theory Part 2
Read part 1
This part of the theory is based on the mv teasers only, i might make more parts when the mvs are out
NONE OF THESE GIFS ARE MINE (apart from one that looks like shit lol)
  • More contrasting scenes:
This one might not seem evident but notice how Jungkook goes from
  1. Looking sad, with a pale face and bluish lips to looking healthy (his hair and skin look more colourful),
  2. The weather goes from cold and gray to sunny,
  3. And in the second scene the phrase “you never walk alone” can now be read behind him
What i understand from this change of scene is him gaining hope, now he knows that “he never walks alone”, and he even looks at the distance like he is seeing a better future coming
This one i mentioned in part 1:
It goes from warm light and cosy athmosphere to dark and even scary (considering how lost Jungkook looks), but I do notice that rap line doesn’t look that happy in that second gif so i’m not very sure about this one, and like i said before i think that the reason for this mood change is probably gonna become clearer in the mv
One thing i noticed is that each time a sad/dark scene comes up it consists of one of the members being alone, in the rest of the teaser a lot of happy moments are shown and most of them (not all) consist of the boys being together
i know Jimin looks pissed but they’re having fun okay
So i guess we can say that the phrase “you never walk alone” is meant to cheer anyone having problems or going through hardships (just like Jungkook in the two first gifs of this post) because we can only be truly happy when we have each other
So maybe the paradoxal changes could represent how the boys get lost, lonely, hopeless, sad, depressive ect. but when they are all together they can get through the hardships and become happy
II. Not Today:
This teaser is very short but it can still be analyzed, the boys are running away from a bunch of black hooded figures
As soon as i saw them i was immediately reminded by the same figures from the Fire mv
There’s already many theories about them, but i think there is two most logical options that actually compliment this teaser:
Possibility n° 1: The hooded figures are the boys’ demons/sins/negative thoughts such as self hatred and depression ect
Possibility n° 2: The hooded figures are the bad people that judge the boys, underestimate them, critisize them and even contempt them
In both cases they are obviously running away from them because both are negative
In Fire mv Yoongi burns one of them with a handshake, so he is kind of tricking the figure into thinking he is friends with it but then burns it after he turns on the music
Later in the mv again the boys are tricking the figures by dancing with them at first and luring them into one place before leaving them in there and making the place explode
(this is the only gif that i made myself and it looks like shit lmao)
So this either means
Possibility n° 1: The boys went through hard times, they were depressed and did stuff they regret and were in such dark times that they even attempted suicide in different ways (Run mv, I Need U mv) why did they have a tough time in the first place? well there’s this whole big theory about Jin dying so when they lost their friend they went downhill but that’s a whole other story
So now they are trying to erase of those bad thoughts/actions by literally setting them on fire.
Possibility n° 2: Same thing but with society being the hooded figures, the boys are tired of being discriminated and treated badly so they decide to burn down all the negative people
In Not Today teaser we also notice that at the beginning we can’t see who are the boys running away from because it is hidden by smoke
This could have a meaning:
Possibilty n° 1: When we are facing our demons and having bad thoughts it is not apparent to the people around us because we don’t talk about it. You can’t tell if a person is going through depression just by looking at them
Possibility n° 2: Even though young people are treated badly in our society it is something considered normal and acceptable to do, so we don’t realise it at first, it is hidden by the ideas that society itself put in our minds
It could also have a political meaning and that is that the rulers and people n power who don’t treat us right hide that fact, they pretend like everything is doing great though people are suffering
The black hooded figures could represent one of these possibilities or they could represent them all
We are back to “you never walk alone” when we see that at the end of the Fire mv they are all together happy and having fun, leaving behind the negative thoughts.
(thighs)
And in Not Today they are all running away together and in one direction
This shows once again that we aren’t truly happy if we don’t have each other
Youth concept:
BTS is still in the youth concept and that is shown by three main factors:
  1. “For Olemas to be happy, one child has to be constantly miserable” how society judges the young people and wants them to do things they don’t want to do, so then society is content despite the sadness of the youth
  2. If BTS is truly critisizing Korea’s education system then it is defending youth and trying to show that grades and diplomas aren’t as important as the mental health and the well being of students (the youth)
  3. The black hooded figures represent the problems of young people
Now i understand why this comeback happened so soon, it’s because Blood Sweat & Tears was more like a little break from the youth concept, but it doesn’t represent the true motives of Wings -solo songs all talked about serious subjects while the title track was about temptation
Also the fact that BTS is releasing this album while they’re on tour and performing their new songs the first time during a concert shows that they are really gifting it to armys, they even said so
Wings: You Never Walk Alone is a gift from BTS to every army (or the youth in general) that is struggling with mental health issues or simply going through hard times to help them feel understood, that they are not alone and that there is always hope
Author’s note: This response was so fun!!! It was so fantastic to write! Also I didn’t actually write smut. I don’t get into step by step detail. But I do get steamy and talk about how the sex went with them :) I’m sorry :( I wish i was more comfortable writing it but I couldn’t and half of that has to be because I have never been in a sexual relationship before so I’m not really sure how it feels. But it gets steamy and it’s a fun and hot read! Hope you like it as much as I do!
You walked into your best friend’s apartment wearing your sexiest clubbing outfit. Your best friend was the one and only David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins. He was wearing some black jeans and a black shirt with the sleeves rolled up, a classic European look. He stared at you for half a second longer than usual. His eyes lusted over and then flared with anger causing you to be confused. You knew David thought you were good looking, and you also thought David was good looking. It was just your friendship, two good looking people. You both were very proud of each other as if you were siblings. Except you weren’t siblings and to say if David were to ever try to push for a relationship, you wouldn’t deny him, but that was unlikely. You both were in the friend zone. “What are you wearing?” David asked with judgment laced in his voice. Your heart dropped a little. Did he not like your dress? It was your favorite outfit and the fact he didn’t approve hurt. You automatically got defensive. “No I wore this just for you and brought a something else to change into,” you sarcastically responded. When David didn’t take to that you decided to just be blunt. “Yes, I’m wearing this out. Do you have a problem with it?” You pushed. He looked you up and down again. You wondered where his mind was going. “Yes, it’s too tight and too short. We’ll have to stop by your apartment so you can change,” he said as if that was the most logical course of action to take. “I’m not changing,” your anger flaring, “I wore this for a reason. It’s my favorite. And who are you to tell me what to wear. Dad!” You added for affect. “We are going out with the team. I don’t want them to look at you and automatically think you’re a slut,” he said while his voice growing louder. You scuffed at him. How dare he, “you and I know just well that the other players’ ‘girlfriends’” you paused to emphasize what you were saying, “are going to be dressed even hotter than me. And this isn’t the first time I’ve been out with your team. They all know me.” He rolled his eyes at you. “Fine let’s go,” he walked away from you. Now it was your turn to roll your eyes.
Requested by: anonymous “Hi! I really love your imagines, you’re a really good writer! I was wondering if you could write one involving Barry from Earth 2? It could be about anything, but pls involve him! Love ya 😜”
Word Count: 1544
Author’s Note: So, I’m writing this the day before school starts back up so you’re welcome;) anyways, my new laptop won’t be coming in until next week so uploads will be slow until then!!:// I’m so sorry guys but please stick with me and I will be writing a ton of imagines:) IMPORTANT!!!!: If you sent a request, thank you SO much for your patience. I know it’s been a while but I will get them done:)) I love you guys.
(a/n: this entire imagine takes place in earth two where Barry is a CSI technician that has no Flash powers)
Do you ever wonder who you will marry in the future? Or just who you will date in hopes of having a future with that person? Do you have a specific type in mind?
You know, the usual proper gentleman who’s kind and funny and handsome? Or the mysterious one who doesn’t give a crap but somehow, you believe that he could be the one?
Everyone always has a type. Everyone always has an expectation. Whether it be the perfect guy or just one that has the basic manners down. No one expects to love a person who they don’t see a happily ever after with.
But, the universe is famous for screwing with our expectations in life. Especially when it concerns our love life.
“Mom, I’m sorry, but I really can’t come right now!” you whisper-yelled into the phone that was squished between your ear and your neck as you frantically signed papers in hopes to get to your business meeting on time.
You would put her on speaker, but the last time you did that, she started to yell at you, allowing everyone within hearing distance in your office become aware of your conversation. The same one that you were having now and had been having for a month now.
“Y/N, please. I think it would be a great opportunity, not only for your firm, but for us as well! We could use that smart lawyer brain of yours,” your mom persuaded.
For the past month, she had been trying to get the law firm that you worked at to come and partner with the CCPD, where she worked at as a detective.  You weren’t one of the founders of the firm, but your mom knew that you had a big effect on what goes on around at the work place because of your high position.
You didn’t like the idea, because although that would mean more cases, they weren’t exactly the best cases. In Central City, metahumans run around amok the citizens. They make chaos and spread fear. In some situations, they even murder innocent bystanders.
Now, what jury would declare a wreaking metahuman not guilty? No matter how good the lawyer is, a metahuman will always be considered guilty. That would be a waste of money and resources for the firm. You would be better off with lawsuits that people make when their insurance company doesn’t live up to their promise.
If you didn’t support the idea, you, the top lawyer in your firm, then how would your bosses?  However, your mother really needed the lawyers. The police didn’t always work with metas, but for the same reason as you, many law firms withdrew their contract with the CCPD.
“Y/N, just come over to the department and take a look. You haven’t even given it a try yet. Please? For your mom?” your mom asked over the phone. You put down your pen and reached for your phone, straightening out your neck.
You sighed, giving in. “Alright, Mom. I’ll do it. It’s only a look, okay? I can’t guarantee anything.” After all that your mom has done for you, it was the least that you could do.
“Yes! Thanks, honey. The police department and the citizens of Central City really appreciate that,” she said. You smiled into the phone.
“Ha. Ha. I’m sure they do. I’ll see you soon then?” you asked.
“Oh, yeah. Definitely. Okay, bye, honey.”
“Bye, Mom,” you responded in a sing-song voice. You smiled as you put the phone back into the receiver. Moms.
“Y/N, you made it,” your mom greeted as the elevator door opened.
“Yeah, I did. What did you want to show me?” you asked smiling. The place was bustling with officers, people walking and holding coffee in their hands, others clicking on their computers who were deep in thought, creases lining their foreheads.
“Oh right, we received this new case about a meta stealing diamonds for money in order to feed his family. It’s really a heartbreaking case. I thought that this would be an interesting one to show you,” your mom informed you.
You nodded, pleasantly surprised. “Okay, let’s see it.”
“Let me go find the case file,” she said, obviously excited that you were on board. “Where’s Detective West?” your mom asked, mumbling to herself as she scanned the surroundings. She stopped another officer that was walking by.
“Have you seen West?” your mom asked. The officer pointed vaguely upstairs to the many rooms.
‘Wow, how informative,’ you thought.
Your mom nodded, however, like she knew exactly where Detective West would be in all of the rooms upstairs.
“C’mon,” your mom instructed, grabbing your arm. “West knows all of the details. He can fill you in.”
You two walked upstairs, entering a room with two metal double doors. In the corner were two guys who were hunched over something, whispering lightly.
Your mom cleared her throat which made the two men stand up, looking at the two of you.
One of them was a slightly familiar older man with scruff who was obviously the Detective West as he had a gold star badge clipped onto his belt strap next to a gun in a holster.
You looked at him for a moment. He had been your mother’s police partner for as long as you could remember. You’ve heard stories of him, but you had only met him once and were too young to remember much of anything about Detective West.
The other guy, however, was young. Maybe around your age. He had dark brown hair with round glasses and wore a bowtie, a vest, and brown slacks. You raised an eyebrow slightly in amusement. Now that was an different look.
He was just the whole package deal, wasn’t he?
“Oh, hey, Y/L/N,” Detective West greeted, directing his words at your mom, “Did you need me?” he asked.
Then he looked at you. A moment later, a smile erupted for his face. “My goodness, Y/N. Look at you! You have grown so much,” he said.
He left his previous post and came up to you with arms spread open. You awkwardly went in for the hug and smiled, putting on your best face. That one face you put on when you met new people.
“Hi, Detective West. It’s nice to see you again,” you said with a smiling face. You remembered to put in the ‘again’ seeing as you didn’t recall meeting him, but you knew that you had in the past.
“Oh, just call me Joe.” He chuckled and patted you on the back before facing your mother again.
“I was wondering if we could show Y/N that case that we’d been working on. I asked her if she could help us,” your mom explained.
Joe looked at her before glancing at you and back to her again. “Yeah, yeah. It’s locked in the evidence room, though.”
Your mom nodded understandingly and looked at you. “Can you wait here? Only restricted personnel are allowed in Evidence.”
You nodded, not having a problem about it. Joe and your mom left the room to go find the case, leaving you with the guy who was still in the corner of the lab.
You faced him, catching him looking at you before he veered his eyes away. You walked up to the table where he was sitting at, behind a microscope and many other different samples with a soft smile on your lips.
“Hey, I’m Y/N,” you greeted, extending a hand.
The guy looked at you shock, like it was a miracle that you were walking to him. He looked at you for a second before shaking your hand timidly.
“M-my name is Barry,” he said.
You smiled a little wider even though you wanted to leave the room. He was making the air in it very awkward.
“Hi, Barry. So, what’re you doing?” you asked, nodding towards the microscope. It wouldn’t take that long to get one file, right? Might as well make some conversation.
Barry looked at the microscope like he didn’t even know that it was in front of him in the first place.
“Oh, uh, I-I’m just…It’s a piece of evidence that was, uh, discovered at a crime scene,” he stuttered. You glanced at his work. To be honest, it seemed kind of interesting and different. It intrigued you. The science part always seemed to capture your attention whenever you worked with these sort of cases.
“Oh, really? That looks cool,” you said with a hint of excitement to your voice.
Barry grinned at you. “You think? I mean, I do too-like-it is, you know, super cool, but-”
You smiled at his frantic rambling. At first, admittedly, you thought it was weird, but after talking to him for a bit, you thought it was cute. Like a cute quirk that he had.
He wasn’t as bad as you thought he was.
Just then your mom appeared at the doorway, waving a manila folder in the air.
“Y/N, honey, come on. We found the file,” you mom said. She glanced over at Barry with a secret look and waved you over before disappearing again.
You glanced back at Barry who was still smiling at you behind those round glasses.
“See you later, Barry.” You waved before walking out of the lab.
For some reason, deep in your gut, something told you that you would see him again. And that gave you an uneasy, but good, lingering feeling.
Little did you know, that this small encounter would lead to something so much more than just an exchange of smiles in the middle of a lab.
Author’s Note: So, someone requested this and I was just writing and I decided to turn it into a series;) thanks to whoever sent this! I think it’ll turn out really well:))
Pray You Catch Me
Anon: Make an imagine where you and Grayson get into an argument
“I’m tired of this! I’m not doing this anymore!” I laughed bitterly. “Oh classic Grayson! Something gets hard and the first thing you’re quick to do is leave.” I watched as he grabbed his keys. “I’m done!” I rolled my eyes. “I swear the way you act is honestly like so… pathetic.” He stopped in his tracks. “Did you just call me pathetic?” The door slammed behind him. “Oh, I’m sorry, did that hit a nerve?” I asked sarcastically. “Be happy that I didn’t call you a bitch.”
Grayson shook his head. “I swear you’re always playing the victim!” “I’m always playing the victim?! Me being more vocal about how I feel means that I’m playing the victim? Oh please! If you wanna keep everything bottled up and act like you’re always perfectly fine then you can do that!” I yelled. “But don’t you ever fucking say to me that I’m playing the victim!”
“I’m saying how you treat me and make me feel! I have never stopped you from telling me how I make you feel!” I shoved his chest.
“You choose to keep it to yourself, Grayson!” Feeling the tears well up in my eyes, I put my head down. “You think I don’t know I haven’t fucked up on more than one occasion? I’m trying here and you’re not even noticing. If you wanna act as if shit doesn’t bother you then you can do that!”
“You never try.” He said. Which is bullshit by the way. “You only try for a moment.” I sighed. “And you know why that happens?” He sat down with a fake enthusiastic look on his face. “No! Please tell me why!” I held in my smart remark taking a deep breath. “Grayson … Like I haven’t said this before but do you know how hard it is to get you to open up to me? It’s like you want me here but you’re pushing me away at the same time. I try to talk to you and you dodge every question I ask.”
“I try to get you to tell me what’s bothering you at the moment and you wanna be all big and mocho. Don’t bullshit me like shit doesn’t bother you. Shit bothers everybody.” There was a moment of silence between us.
“I guess maybe I should have tried to talk to you more but I’m not the type of person to force anybody to tell me something they don’t wanna talk about.” He looked at me. “Okay so are you done blaming me for everything?” I threw my arms in the air in aggravation. “Oh my God, Grayson! What the hell is wrong with you? Are you not try to see anything through my eyes!? I’m not blaming you for anything!” Words couldn’t explain how infuriated I was. He was acting like such an asshole for no reason. “I’m tired of all the arguing and the blaming.” Grayson simply said. “It seems like all I do is make you unhappy.”
“All the blame?” I groaned under my breath. “Okay so, It’s obviously still not getting through to you.” I sat down against the fridge. “I’m not blaming you for anything Grayson I just…” My voice trailed off. “I need you to see things from my eyes.” There was yet, another moment of silence. Have you ever been so hurt by someone’s actions that you can physically feel it in your chest. Like your heart is just aching and you’re trying to let whatever is causing you so much pain go but something is stopping you? “Why are you putting me through this?” I looked at him in disbelief.
“Putting you through what?” What am I putting you through? I’m telling you how I feel and that’s a bad thing?!“ I yelled standing up. “Or you weren’t expecting a girl you loved to be this fucked up right? Oh shit I forgot.” I laughed. “You just hate being called out on your bullshit. Me putting you on the spot brings out a whole nother side of you that I’m sure Ethan has probably never even seen.”
I shook my head in disgust. “You can manage to have the most perfect relationship with your brother but you don’t even try with me.” He sat there just staring at me and that’s when I realized it. There are never gonna change.
“You know what I’m done.” That seem to have caught his attention. Grayson jumped up out of the chair, catching me by my arm. “No! No! Okay listen.” I snatched my arms away from. “No Grayson. I don’t want to listen. It’s too late to listen.” I walked out of the house. Within a few seconds I heard his footsteps behind me and his voice yelling after me. Something told me to turn around but my feet kept going. Sometimes letting go feels better than holding on ..
Authors Note: A lot of my imagines will usually be in the readers perspective because I feel as if they make them seem more realistic and plus I just think they flow better lol
Anyways this was my first imagine! I hoped you guys enjoyed it! I would love some feedback! Remember if you have any ideas just hmu ✨💛
