well if the others ships can do it

anonymous asked:

So Maiko is obviously abusive in both the show and comics, no one with a brain can deny it at all, but even though I get some shit saying this to other people, I also think Kataang is abusive as well in the show and also in the comics, quite a few people don't see it this way, but I do, I was just wondering what are your thoughts on Kataang being an abusive ship?

God, okay… I could go on forever about how dangerous the abuse is in both these ships.

Mai.ko, on one hand, shows the emotional abuse of male, something people believe can’t possibly happen ever because real men don’t get abused. OMG.

Kat.aang also displays a very subversive and often ignored style of abuse… In that relationship, Katara loses every bit of what makes her who she is— her spirit, her fighting, her temper. It’s all gone because Aang can’t stand any other behavior from her besides complete adherence to what he wants and how he views her. She is completely reduced to nothing more than arm candy, she loses contact with any other male friends, and she’s turned into a mary sue just to fit her position as a man’s girlfriend. She’s no longer Katara. She’s the Avatar’s girlfriend. To take away who someone is, to force them to fit your little mold, your picture of who they should be, that’s abuse, and kat.aang tells kids that’s okay. That’s what we’re teaching boys. That’s so dangerous to me.

Not to mention……. all of his forced, unwanted kisses and the fucking mess that is Love is a Battlefield.

Another humans are weird space orcs idea because I really like thinking about it. What if aliens have no idea how to hide their emotions? Like, they suck at poker because they can never keep a straight face or anything. or, on a darker note, their ship is hijacked and they can’t keep the fear out of their faces, but all the humans look cold and emotionless to them. Other aliens hating having to bargain with humans becase we can bluff and keep our emotions in check so well, but when they get frustrated it’s all over. Pirates threaten the space ship and they send the human to do negotiations, and the pirate talking is super confused because no matter what threat he makes, the human just doesn’t seem to be fazed one bit.

Someone please, feel free to add to this, I love to see what else people come up with!

Writing a Relationship Your Readers Will Ship

Relationships, especially in beginner writer’s works, have a tendency to feel forced. Even in some popular and famous works of fiction, the relationship doesn’t feel natural. It seems like a boring afterthought which the writer added in at the last minute. Far too often, I find myself completely indifferent to a character’s romantic life. A good romance in a story will give the reader a bit of second-hand infatuation. They’ll root for the relationship, beg for it. If the romance is well written, you can make a reader smile and blush just by reading a few sentences. When done properly, it can even compensate for a weak and cliché plot.

But first, decide whether the romance is needed. If you’re adding a character to the plot simply for the sake of being a love interest, it’s probably not a needed romance. You can still add it, of course, but it will be much harder to keep your story focused on the central plot.

Step One
Make sure the characters have chemistry.

The characters should compliment each other’s personalities. If he’s loud, stubborn, and aggressively opinionated, a more tranquil and soft-spoken love interest would suit him well. Two headstrong people wouldn’t be likely to have a lasting relationship in real life, unless they (impossibly) agreed upon every subject. But, there should be some similarities. While opposites do attract, polar opposites will not and the whole relationship will feel forced. The characters should have something in common. It could be morals, a parallel backstory, the same motivations, whatever. As long as there’s a reason for them to be drawn to each other, there’s potential.

Step Two
Slow burn ships are fantastic.

Don’t make your characters fall in love right off the bat. There can be attraction, of course, but genuine feelings of true love don’t happen instantly. Your characters should become closer as people, feel at ease around each other, and truly know the other before they fall head-over-heels. The readers will crave the relationship far more, like dangling a treat right in front of a dog’s nose, but keep pulling it away. Teasing is a beautiful thing.

Find ways of showing (NOT TELLING) the characters are falling for each other. Have them stand up for one another, be protective. Have them break their own normal routine for the other. For example, a callous, guarded character could lower their walls for a moment if their love interest needs emotional support. These scenes can be awkward for the character changing their typical behavior and that discomfort can demonstrate how much they care for the other, altering their own selves for the other’s benefit.

Howeve, make sure that you combine these cute emotional moments with distance. Make the characters deny their true feelings or even distance themselves from their love interest upon discovering their feelings. The more the characters long for each other, the more the reader will long for them to be together. Build barriers between them for your characters to have to work to knock down. Keep them close, but maintain that distance until the moment is right.

Step Three
“_____” translates to “I love you”

The first example of I think of when I think of this is The Princess Bride, where the male protagonist tells his soulmate “as you wish” when he really means “I love you.”

This falls under the category of show, don’t tell. Hearing a character say “I love you” has become so boring. Unless it’s done in a surprising confession or unique way, it’s boring and stale.

Come up with a phrase that you can repeat in moments throughout the story until it has a meaning of love for the characters and both know exactly what the other means when it’s spoken.

Step Four
Taking a break can help create tension.

You know you loved someone if you leave them and feel awful. Apply this into the writing. Your characters can break up, then get back together in a joyous reunion.

Step Five
Not every couple has a happy ending.

Sometimes, things don’t always work out for different reasons. An ending that leaves readers craving more can be a good move.

I don't understand something. Why do you seem to make Anxiety out to be not-terrible? I just don't get it. If he's supposed to be a metaphor for actual anxiety, how could the other sides of you treat him like a friend? How could he be shipped with your fanciful side? Actual anxiety is nothing but pain, and for me, the other facets of my brain would want nothing to do with her. I'm not hating on the way you portray things, I'm just confused on how it all plays out in the metaphor.

That’s actually a REALLY good question! A question I’ll be definitely making a future video about! I can’t very well explain the shipping portion of it all haha, but to put it basically here, anxiety is a natural evolutionary trait that is innately in us to keep us alert! It’s just, in some of us, it’s more heightened and can inhibit us from time to time. In my first video where I introduced Anxiety, I brought up tools for how to shut him down, but I think it’s important to understand that stuff like that is a natural part of ourselves and we shouldn’t ignore that it’s there.

Like he said in today’s video, he’s not always the bad guy, and our anxiety is actually not trying to be bad at all. Now, moreover, my character, Anxiety, is slowly starting to represent more than just anxiety (one of the reasons names will come into play for all of them). He could be stress/negative thoughts/etc., that we deal with. It should be good that we can acknowledge they’re a part of us, and know how to deal with them, but not try to suppress them! Hope this helps ya a bit!

Weird Human Things

Breastfeeding

Jaal: Human females seem more… Curvy than their male counterparts..

Ryder: Are you asking why we have breasts?

Jaal: …Perhaps.

Ryder: *Laughs* They’re for feeding babies.

Jaal: What?

Ryder: Our mammary glands produce milk for babies!

Jaal:

Baby teeth

Jaal: Humans have multiple sets of teeth?

Ryder: Well, kind of. We’re born with no teeth, we grow a set of ‘baby’ teeth. Then in childhood all those teeth fall out and our permanent set grow in. It can be painful and bloody.

Jaal: That sounds terrifying.

Static hair

Jaal: Ryder your hair is floating

Ryder: Oh, yeah that happens sometimes.

Jaal: *confused cat face*…What!?!

Blushing

Jaal: Ryder! Your colors are changing!

Ryder: It’s just hot Jaal. Humans turn red sometimes.

Jaal: So, this is normal?

Ryder: Kind of. Blushing can signify distress, but It’s usually no big deal.

Jaal: Distress? Are you not well?

Ryder: I’m fine Jaal, it’s just hot here

*Sometime later after certain saucy scenes*

Jaal: Ryder, Are you in distress?! Your colors!

Ryder: *Laughs* No Jaal, I’m fine.

Freckles

Jaal: Why do some humans have spots while others do not?

Ryder: Spots?…Oh, you mean Freckles.

Jaal: Freckles?

Ryder: Yeah, just genetics. Some human’s just have…spots. *Ryder smiles*

Talk and Walk

Jaal: Why is Liam pacing the ship?

Ryder: He’s on a call Jaal.

Jaal: ??????

Ryder: Oh, human’s like to lap their homes while on calls.

Talking to animals

Pyjak: *squeak*

Ryder: *Squeak!*

Jaal: What are you-

Ryder: Shhh! I’m talking to my child.

Jaal: ?!?!?!

Microwave

*Liam sprints desperately to the kitchen*

Jaal: What’s going on?

Ryder: *dead serious* He has to stop the microwave before it hits zero or it explodes.

Jaal: WHY WOULD HUMANS DESIGN SUCH A FAULTY DEVICE?!?!

Ryder: *Laughing*

Jaal: an…Idiom?

I usually make a point to avoid getting into this kind of drama.

That stops now.

If you’ve been following the kind of people I follow, or if you’re part of new fandoms that experience a sudden explosion in popularity and number of fans - Undertale. Steven Universe. RWBY. Fire Emblem. Overwatch. Disney. Gravity Falls. Star Wars. Marvel. Etc -, you will have seen something like this.

Every time, without exception, there’s a small group of people who think they are entitled to say what is right and what is wrong. Who erect themselves as judge and jury of what is GOOD and what is PUNISHABLE. And now, they may well have erected themselves into executioners.

There was a tumblr user by the name of tyrant-rex. Emphasis on WAS. If you go to his blog you’ll notice it’s deactivated. That’s because he did it, right after leaving a suicide note.

Rex shipped Pewey. That is Pearl/Mayor Dewey, both characters from Steven Universe. Pearl is a canonical lesbian character. Mayor Dewey is a guy. And that, it seems, was all the reason this toxic part of the fandom needed to want him dead. They showered him in hate and this is the result. Rex may well be DEAD because some people decided a fictional ship was worth more than a human life.

And the most sickening part? They’re not sorry. They revel in the pain they’ve caused. They try to justify it.

“But Pearl is a canonicaly lesbian!” Doesn’t justify killing a person over it.

“But it was lesbian erasure!” No it’s not, just as shipping two heterosexual characters in a gay relationship isn’t heterosexual erasure. And even if it were, it would still not justify killing a person over it.

“But seeing that ship hurts me!” If a non-canon drawing of a fictional ship is enough to cause you pain you should go to therapy because you are obviously not well off on the head. Oh, and it STILL DOES NOT JUSTIFY KILLING SOMEBODY OVER IT.

I mean, really, did these people even think about what they were doing? What they are celebrating? If he’s dead, that’s a whole person gone from the earth. Did he have friends? Family? Loved ones? Hopes and dreams? And now those people will never see him again. His goals will never come to be. And why? Because of a ship? Because people on the internet couldn’t stand others loving things they didn’t like? Can you think of any subject more STUPID to hate somebody? To drive somebody to death?

This is not the first time the SU fandom drove someone to the edge of suicide. And I tell you right now, it’s not going to be the last. This is gonna keep happening. And you might be reading this and thinking I’m overreacting. I wish I was. I wish I had no reason to make this post. But Rex, and those who came before, are the horrible proof that no, I am not exaggerating.

And just like they came for him, they will come for you. Because you drew Connie’s nose too small, or her skin too light. Because you drew Pearl with boobs, or Mei and Rose skinny. Because you made Frisk’s eyes too asian, or Hanzo’s eyes not asian enough. Because your humanization of Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps is not the color THEY want it to be. Because you dared to ship the “wrong” ship. Because your opinion is something they don’t like.

I honestly don’t know how to close this, so I’ll just say, if anybody’s shitting on you or trying to get you to hurt yourself, block them. Your mental health and your life matter so much more than all the fictional characters in the world.

I guess I’ve noticed a really big problem in the ARMY fandom recently with all the hate, fanwars, and even our opinions on the actions of the members and I’d just like to remind you that they are not American.

They weren’t raised in western culture

They weren’t raised with western ideals

As much as you want to ship them with members and say sexual things about them, just remember, you put their comfortableness at risk. Of course you can be attracted to them and ship them together (yoonseok for life) but just remember where the line is. They were raised in a society that doesn’t look too fondly upon homosexuals and the excessive shipping and sexual fanart and fanfiction can cause a strain on their relationships with each other. An argument might come up saying “well if they havent come out as gay or said theyre straight then we can do whatever” but id like to remind you again that Korea isn’t very open to gays just yet, doesn’t mean that theres anything wrong with gays and it doesn’t mean that nothing is changing, in fact korea is progressing pretty fast but it just isnt there yet.

Also when you get offended by something said by a certain member, lets say they said something racist. (Im a poc!!!) we have to remember that they weren’t raised with our ideals and with our perceptions on what is right or wrong to say. And i am no “oppa apologist” because some things can be said that are out of line, but we can implement western societal values and rules onto eastern cultures.

With all these fan wars and hate being spread around, I’d like to remind you of how heavily Korean culture revolves are respect. They respect groups older than them and they respect each other. So when we set off and start fighting with lets say EXO or Big Bang we are undermining their culture. Once the fanwar becomes bigger, they notice and it puts a strain on the relationships between both groups. It ruins the name of the younger group because they’re supposed to show respect towards the older group. Even if its a younger fandom that’s attacking BTS we shouldn’t stoop down to their level because respect plays a big role in their culture and we’re tarnishing BTS’s name by arguing with their peers.

Lastly, all this fighting amongst yourselves on which members are better or not. Id like to remind you that you are not a true army if you have even a small shred of hatred for a member. Wether you believe that the hyungs deserve better (and they do but I will believe in it while loving the maknae like equally) or the maknae line does. If you dislike even one member for the amount of lines he gets or the amount of stage time he gets then you are not a true ARMY.

Thank you for reading this, I just want people to understand these things so we can better ourselves as a whole.

Magic > common sense

Context: We had just been on an adventure in our pirate ship, collecting these cursed items, mostly armour and some weapons, that allow the wielder control over an element. We are then faced with a gauntlet of elemental challenges to navigate our ship through things like storm, rocky reef, icebergs ect. once we cleared that we found ourselves at the foot of a 300 ft cliff with a ship sized hole at the top

Cleric: Well we are stuck

Fighter: We could climb it maybe? Do we have enough rope?

Bard (me): Wait a minute *cleric’s name* you can use your shield to control earth right?

Cleric: Yeah?

Me: I have an idea, you can make a big, ship shaped ramp up to that opening right?

Cleric: Oh! Yeah! I can. *To DM* I do that

Other fighter: I see where this is going *To DM* I am going to use my artifact to make an ice sled for the ship

Me: *To DM*I am going to use my artifact to make a small tornado rocket booster out the back of the ship

Wizard: *To DM* I summon a big wave to push us up the ramp

So our insane plan works and we make a sick jump off the ramp with our ship into this cave

DM: Well that was interesting. You know I was actually just planning for you to lower the cliff down to the water level. You guys do realize you could have done that instead right?

acowar prediction asks

To have a bit more fun before ACOWAR comes out in a couple of weeks and we all die for one reason or another, I thought I’d come up with some questions that we can all play around with and send each other. Enjoy!

1) Do you want any other POVs besides Rhys or Feyre? Which?

2) If you could only pick one ship, elucien, nessian, or moriel, to officially become canon (IE declaration of love or, ahem, physical consummation), which would it be?

3) Do you have any theories about what will happen with the war?

4) Cassian’s wings. Go.

5) Do you think we will see Miryam and Drakon? Do you want to?

6) Which character (outside of Rhys and Feyre) do you want to see getting the most development?

7) Tamlin: redemption or death?

8) Do you think anyone will die in ACOWAR (that we care about, that is)? Who?

9) What role do you think the other courts will play in the war?

10) Are there any minor characters (e.g. the Bone Carver, the Weaver) that you’d like to see again?

11) How effective of a spy do you think Feyre will be, really?

12) Which court do you most want to see in ACOWAR?

13) Lesser fae - do you want to see more of them?

14) How do you think Elain will react to the mating bond with Lucien?

15) Would you rather Nesta train as a warrior, or more of a strategist? Do you think she’ll actually be willing to help out the Night Court?

16) Mor’s power - what would you like it to be?

17) What do you think the dynamic between Lucien and Feyre will be like in the Spring Court?

18) How do you think the Cauldron might come into play in the war?

19) The mortal queens: do you think they all survived taking a Cauldron bath? What would you like to see happen with them?

20) Amren: what is she, really? Would you be ok if she got to go home?

21) Jurian or the King of Hybern or Ianthe: who needs to die more?

22) What smut scenes would you like to see in the book?

23) Babies - yea or nay? If you had to pick one couple to have a mini, who would it be?

24) How do you think Nesta and Elain will react to being thrust into the Night Court after going for a swim in the Cauldron?

25) How quickly are you going to read this book, exactly? Do you want spoilers? Or are you going to avoid tumblr like the plague?

26) What are three things you do NOT want from ACOWAR?

27) What are your top three wishes for ACOWAR that you would metaphorically (or literally) kill for?

*ACOWAR SPOILERS*

Anyway Moriel shippers whining about Mor being gay can suck my dick lol.

Is it probably tokenism? Yes. Is it probably going to be lazy, last minute representation? Yes. Do any of you homophobes using these things for your complaints actually fucking give a shit about whether or not it’s tokenism? No! You’re just homophobic, so stop pretending like you actually care about the quality of gay representation!

I can’t believe some of you actually have the audacity to to say shit like “this is coming out of nowhere” and “Mor just doesn’t SEEM like she’s gay” and “but poor Azriel!” and “but I wanted Moriel to happen!” and “I’m not saying I don’t want representation, I just don’t think it should be Mor.”

First of all, if you’re straight (and most of the people complaining here are) how DARE you say anything about Mor “seeming gay” or not. How DARE you. What the actual fuck could you possibly know about it. Nothing. You could know nothing.

Second of all, of COURSE you don’t think it should be Mor. You CARE about Mor. Mor is beautiful, bubbly, funny, smart, outgoing. Her storyline is important to the main plot. She’s survived tragedy and emerged triumphant. You relate to her. And most of all, you want her to get together with a male character. And for her to be GAY? Oh no! Now this is ruined for you. Now she’s not perfect anymore. God forbid gay people have a gay character with positive traits they can look up to and relate to in a series. God forbid ONE character out of a TON of straights had to be made gay and now you can’t relate anymore.

I’ve seen multiple people say “I like the representation, but I thought Mor should be with Azriel and Amren should be gay. Why couldn’t it be Amren?” This. Is VERY telling. Amren is described as not overly beautiful, she has a more abrasive personality, and most importantly, she doesn’t seem interested in any kind of romantic relationship. At all. Her being gay would not get in the way of ANY of your straight romances/ships/plots. It probably would’t even be brought up a lot, because it’s doubtful she’d even be with someone. So people saying that Amren would have been a better candidate feels very much like “Ugh, the gays can HAVE that weird freak Amren, but it’s not fair they get that pretty girl! How can MOR be gay?? What about the boy I want as her boyfriend?”

So many people are shielding themselves from being called homophobic by saying “I want a character to be LGBT! I want there to be representation for LGBT! (Just not THIS character)” Well that’s bullshit, first of all because the way you say “LGBT” instead of “LGBT characters” or “gay characters” kinda reveals the way you view representation as some nebulous kind of check-the-box category to get over with instead something actually important, and second of all because the “LGBT representation” that you’re “all for” is a very specific kind of representation. It’s the kind that isn’t really representation at all.

You’re “all for LGBT rep,” but you never actually want characters you LIKE to be gay. You never want the characters you ship in straight relationships to turn out gay. You want the ugly characters, the evil characters (who are going to die anyway), the characters who never end up in relationships, (and the “smol bean xD” men who you fetishize and ship with other men, but that’s another issue) to turn out gay. That way you can pat yourself on the back for how good and diverse your series is while continuing to enjoy the main straight characters in their straight relationships. That way you’re never forced to invest in the humanity of gay people and their stories, because their “stories” are just a casual mention of their sexuality, or a side plot so tiny it might as well not exist (like in tog).

And as for “poor Azriel!” do I really have to tell you why that’s fucking dumb? I guess it’s not uncommon in this fandom to always prioritize men over women (re: “poor Rhysand when Feyre had to sleep with her abuser that must have been so hard for HIM!!”), but still. Listen to yourself.

On top of all of this, I find it pretty funny (I don’t. I don’t find it funny. At all. None of this is funny it makes me want to vomit) that straight people are throwing a tantrum and acting like it’s the worst thing ever that a ship they were passionate about couldn’t work out because of the characters’ sexualities. HAHAHAHAHAHA! The irony of it, honestly, and the fact that none of you realize it… wow. Do y’all. Have any idea. How many times that happens to gay readers? On a REGULAR basis?? The two characters are similar. Have good chemistry. Interact in a way that hints at a relationship. Would be perfect together. You care about them, you grow invested. And just when you think they might be endgame… oops! They’re straight, and they can’t be together. I don’t have an ounce of pity for people saying that they’re SO upset by this because they were in love with the ship and now it can’t happen because of sexuality. This is our LIFE. It happened to you one fucking time, and the relationship wasn’t even that developed; somehow I think you’ll be okay.

To sum it up, when I hear people complaining about Mor being gay because they thought she should be with Azriel, literally all I hear is “wait but gay people are fine only as long as they don’t get in the way of straight ships and characters :( why can’t they stay on the fringes of the plot where they belong and leave us straights alone :( we used to have 100% of the characters and plot and now we only have 99% :( life is so hard :(“

It’s honestly just really disheartening to see straight people responding so nastily to this, especially when this is just a tiny drop of real representation. Mor’s sexuality might not end up being well done in the book, but there are a lot of gay and bi girls who read these books and this could genuinely make a difference to them. And THAT will ALWAYS be more important than the success of a straight ship, especially in a series in which there is absolutely NO shortage of straight ships and characters. Go pick two of the other 10,000 straight characters to ship and leave us alone.

anonymous asked:

Do you think the paladins celebrated holidays on the ship?

Yes!!! I do!!!

  • I think that one of them probably brought up holidays or birthdays at one point and everyone’s just like :/ because who the hell knows how much time has passed.
  • So Coran (who can probably sympathize, what with having lost his entire culture and all) works with Pidge and Hunk to figure out what time it is back on Earth. And a year has passed so they’re just like, well I guess we should throw everyone a collective birthday party.
  • So they do and everyone gets in on it, buying each other gifts and stuff at your local Space Mall™ and Allura sets aside a day for everyone to take a break because, hell if they don’t need one.
    • Coran and Hunk bake the ultimate birthday ‘cake’ which isn’t as much a cake as it is a bunch of alien ingredients cooked to resemble a cake. Hunk still manages to make it taste good because he’s the galaxy’s #1 chef.
    • They spend the whole day talking about their birthdays back on earth and stuff.
      • “I can’t believe Shiro’s six.”
      • They offer to throw Keith like 10 more parties once he reveals that he didn’t really have any until he met Shiro and became his honorary brother.
      • Lance almost cries when he’s talking about his family and everyone gathers him into a collective group hug.
    • Allura and Coran are #confused.
      • “Why would humans celebrate their birthday every year? That seems like an awful lot of trouble to celebrate a person’s life that often.” “…” “How long you you think people live?” “Hold on, how long do Alteans live?!”
  • After that, they keep track of Earth’s calendar and proceed to celebrate big holidays.
  • On Halloween…
    • Lance is just, “Exactly how mad at me do you think Allura would be if I went and knocked on everyone’s door on this next planet and asked for food.”
      • Needless to say, the others keep an eye on him the whole day.
    • They do end up finding a bunch of the alien equivalent of sweets but Shiro steals half of them because Halloween is his thing and he has a serious sweet tooth.
      • The others devise a plan to take them back but Pidge gets away with the loot and hides it and the candy is never to be found again. (It’s in the vents).
  • Christmas…
    • Of course they buy each other gifts cause why not. It’s adorable.
      • Both Keith and Lance buy each other two gifts. One is really thoughtful and sweet and the other is a cheap gift that they give while everyone’s exchanging gives. They give the meaningful ones to each other secretly because they don’t want the others to tease them.
    • Mistletoe.
      • Allura has no idea what it is and Shiro is flustered.
      • Everyone conspires to get Keith and Lance under the mistletoe but it doesn’t work and everyone’s disappointed until Keith lets it slip that Lance already pulled that trick on him when they were walking to breakfast.
  • New Years…
    • They all sit down together in the control room and Pidge and Hunk hook up a timer and they all watch it count down. When it hits zero there’s this moment of silence because as much as they’re glad that Earth has survived another year, they want more than anything to be there.
  • And because I can’t let anything end on a sad note, Allura and Coran show the Paladins a bunch of holidays that Altea celebrated. It’s such a bittersweet thing but it’s so amazing to see these memories coming to life before them. Even if the lovely elegance and extravagance of an Altean celebration dissolves into lighthearted fun and laughter, it reminds them that they have a new family. And as strange as it might be, it’s a wonderful thing to be a part of.

Shipping discourse honestly could be avoided entirely with these simple steps:

1. If you ship a ship that may possibly trigger anyone or that people have expressed they are uncomfortable with, please tag appropriately. Better yet, put the ship name and any warnings in the actual post (possibly in a disclaimer) so even if others reblog and don’t tag, blacklist should still notice it.

2. If a ship makes you uncomfortable for any reason, don’t follow those who ship it, blacklist the ship name and any content warnings for things that make you uncomfortable or trigger you, and perhaps block those who are often making content for said ship if you don’t wish to see their posts in the searches or tags. Xkit and Tumblr Savior, as well as Tumblr’s own block feature, are very useful tools. Use them.

3. Similarly, if you do ship it, you can follow the same steps for avoiding those who don’t and are vocal about it.

4. You can post your opinion against the ship on your blog. That is fine. However, put slashes through the ship name if you mention it (both in the post itself and in the tags) so that it doesn’t show up in the search where the fans of said ship will be browsing in hopes to see more content of that ship. They are not, ever, in a million years, hoping to see your negative opinion while looking for content. Same goes for using the tags they use.

5. If someone expresses they are uncomfortable with a ship, do not press the matter. Do not bug them until they give you a reason (that reason could be trauma that the ship reminds them of and they, under no circumstances, are required to reveal that information to you). Do not intentionally send them it. Do not push it on them. Do not expect them to possibly cater to you and your wants just because you do happen to like it. You would not like the same done to you.

6. If someone does ship a ‘problematic’ ship, they are not obligated to give you a reason in order for their shipping of said content to be ‘acceptable.’ Again, past trauma may be involved and they are not required to give you that information under any circumstances. You may trigger them. Don’t press it.

7. Do not target specific blogs or vague about others that have the opposing opinion of you in regards to a ship. Or anything, for that matter. It’s not only rude but crossing a line. You want them to respect you and your boundaries? Respect theirs.

8. Do not throw around serious accusations/insults like ‘pedophile’ or ‘abuse apologist’. For one, what someone ships does not at all mean they condone any problematic content involved in real life. Secondly, you may be throwing shade that could very well be related to past trauma (ie calling a csa survivor a pedophile) and that could cause flashbacks and/or panic attacks. That’s not cool at all. Have some human decency.

9. If a ship is generally considered bad by the fandom and you create content of it, please attempt to avoid using the general character tags. If unavoidable (like with the case of fic, where the character names are likely to come up) please be sure to put warnings in your post and try to make it as easy to blacklist as possible.

10. Do not intentionally seek out drama from people on the opposing side. Do not intentionally try to start shit or go after anyone over it. I would think this would be obvious, but it apparently isn’t. No matter your side on the matter, this is unacceptable and only makes others on your side look bad and take away from the credibility of your opinions. It also will make people less inclined to care about your side of the matter and won’t really benefit you in the long term.

11. Remember that YOU are responsible for YOUR comfort in your browsing experience. No one else is. If you are bothered by anything in fandom, whether a ship or those who oppose said ship, then you need to do what you can to make your browsing experience safe from it all. YOU. Not others. No one else is responsible for that but YOU.

12. However, you should also do what you can to make your content able to be avoided easily by those who will do what they can to do so. Remember to make sure you make your post easy to blacklist by those who may want to avoid it. If someone sees a post that upsets them because you didn’t do whatever you could to make it possible for them to not see it, then that isn’t exactly fair either.

13. Remember that there is a real, live, complex human being behind that computer. There is more to them than what they ship or don’t ship, and acting like that is the all there is to them is not showing them respect. It doesn’t matter if they do things you think isn’t okay. They deserve respect as a fellow human being. Even if there is discourse between you guys, please don’t forget there is a human being there and they are just as complex as you and deserve to be thought of as such. There is always more to these things than is shown on the surface, and that should be considered when interacting with them. Stay calm and consider their side as well as yours and be respectful of both sides. It’s hard, I know. It’s so much easier to dehumanize a person and judge them entirely off of one aspect of their lives. But the easier path isn’t always the better one.

Please consider all of these points for the future. If we could all learn how to get along and respect each other, then discourse about this could easily be in the past. We should all be coming together to celebrate a piece of media we all like, not tearing each other apart over insignificant things like ships.

yo i haven't seen pd2 in like YEARS but yuuri and victor in your little drabble had me weak and i don't even know what kinda factor they play in the movie or if there's anything else you can give us but i'd love to see more of them because. yes @ them being all over each other in front of everyone when people have shit to do, i.e. important ruling a kingdom stuff

well, the dynamic between the queen and joe in the movies (can’t say much about the books bc it’s been years since i read one of them lmao) is that they’ve got a will they won’t they tension going on and literally the entire damn country ships them (the friggin bishop or…. whatever religious leader officiating the wedding was like “finally” when they did get married in pd2 lolol) and yea that’s probably what i’d be going for. but with a couple tweaks since a lot of details have been shifted around in this au to make it work better with the yoi cast lol

Viktor’s never seen anyone as stoic as Mr Katsuki before in his life. He runs a tight ship, getting all the other security officers into line and smartly suited up. He obsessively goes over every possible breach or flaw at every venue, even drawing up blueprints and maps of the buildings Viktor sets foot in just so he knows the weaknesses of each wall, the locations of each ventilation shaft. He knows the precise details of Viktor’s schedule down to the minute, coordinating with Lilia, his chief advisor and assistant, until everything around the King seems to flow like clockwork, the well-oiled cogs of a machine designed to protect his every step.

“Why are you doing this?” he asks Mr Katsuki once, a couple months into his tenure as chief of security, and Mr Katsuki only smiles a tight, brittle smile that doesn’t reach his calculating yet sparkling eyes.

“I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if you were hurt, Your Majesty,” he replies.

Viktor laughs at just how earnestly serious the man looks. “My life is in your hands already, Mr Katsuki. You might as well call me Viktor.”

There’s a little chink in Mr Katsuki’s armour at that when his cheeks flush visibly pink. “I don’t know if I could, Your Majesty,” he says, his voice quiet, soft, and Viktor immediately realises he’d do anything to see this sort of expression on the man’s face again.

Mr Katsuki is a reassuring shadow at his side, watchful yet protective. Viktor values his work and dedication. Admires his bravery and honour.

But he doesn’t fall in love, though, until one fateful afternoon when he’s leaving his motorcade and a gunman opens fire, and Mr Katsuki is on him in an instant, tackling him onto the asphalt and shielding him with his body. As his heartbeat rings loudly in his ears, Viktor looks up into the wide-eyed expression on his chief of security’s face, and realises that the man is genuinely terrified of losing him.

“Yuuri,” he breathes, reaching up for him. The light haloes Mr Katsuki, making him almost angelic. The noise and commotion fade away with each blink of Mr Katsuki’s long lashes, and then the world fades to white.

When Viktor wakes up, he is in a hospital bed, and Mr Katsuki – Yuuri – has fallen asleep with his fingers inches from Viktor’s own.

Reylo and why it’s a problem beyond any shipper war….

I’ve been part of many shipper wars over the years. Absolutely crazy and disgusting ones that left me wondering why I had ever joined the fandom in the first place. I have seen people call each other retarded and freaks over a ship and bully people, stalk their social media accounts… I have seen people insult actors and writers on social media over shipping - even sending them death threats (!!!!), I have seen people insult the significant others of actors because their ship wasn’t happening in real life as well… You name it, I’ve probably seen it. Some of these things also take place in the Star Wars fandom and I find them just as appalling and disgusting as I do in any other fandom. However I have become used to this insanity to a certain point and so there is a level of shipping-craziness I can ignore. Is this good? Probably not, but that’s simply what happens when you are confronted with bullshit for years and years, you become immune to it to a degree.

What I have seen in the Star Wars fandom recently though has crossed my line…and sometimes it has not just crossed it, it jumped past the line and blew itself into the freaking stratosphere of unacceptable behaviour.

Look, Reylo started out as somewhat of a crack ship, something that exists in almost any fandom. The villain + the hero… people writing fanfics about it, enjoying the idea. No problem so far because what you imagine in fics and have as a head canon can be problematic and unrealistic. As long as you are aware of it and don’t take it too seriously, everything’s cool.

The thing started to blow out of proportion when people suddenly became convinced that it will be canon. And that it’s the only acceptable, interesting canon, and that the entire Star Wars crew is playing some giant goose chase game with the fandom and only the Reylos get it. Shipping Reylo became some sort of detective game that only the truly smart people can figure out. Hidden clues, fairytale motives… Half of it seemed like we had suddenly entered a real life conspiracy theory scenario.

All of this is weird and insulting the intelligence of non-shippers but it can still be overlooked with an eyeroll. The real problems began when people started to justify why Reylo is better than any other ship and entirely unproblematic. They did not stop at plot points and hidden clues…no! In the course of defending their ship as a realistic option for the future of Star Wars, huge issues arose that made Reylo even MORE problematic instead of making it more acceptable.

Issue 1: The treatment of Finn

Some of the biggest treats of any ship are obviously other ships that involve one of the characters. In case of Reylo the biggest treat is Finnrey, ie. the ship between Rey and the character she spent the majority of time with during TFA. This ship somehow had to be discredited. Looking at the dynamic between Finn and Rey in the movie, making this ship not just unrealistic but downright horrible should be quite a challenge. Yet it was shockingly easy for the Reylo fandom. Not by using any valid plot points, but by stepping over lines that should never be crossed, not only in fandoms but in society in general: racism, homophobia and toxic masculinity!

Finn is, for many reasons, an absolutely groundbreaking and incredibly important character in the Star Wars franchise. Played by John Boyega, a man of colour, he is one of the few POC lead characters in any major franchises, cinema and TV alike. But not only that, the character himself is representing an incredibly important arc: A person brainwashed by an ideology for most of his life questioning this ideology and breaking free from it, breaking out of a facist organisation, refusing to follow their blind ideals and joining the fight against them. Finn becomes a hero in TFA for many reasons. He saves Rey, the other lead of the movie, several times and it is obvious she adores him. So the version of Finn we are presented with in TFA is that of a hero who becomes best friends with the heroine.

Somehow many members of the Reylo fandom considered it necessary to reinterpret this version of Finn to the point he became unrecognizable to justify why he is wrong for Rey. The fact that he broke out from the First Order suddenly became an act of cowardness because he was not strong enough to kill for them. His fear when he ran away from the facist organisation that turned him into nothing more but a number was interpreted as weakness. Him pretending to be a member of the Resistance was not seen as the act of someone ashamed of where he came from or someone who thought no one would trust him if they knew the truth – it was seen as a character flaw. His lie to personally get to save Rey from the First Order was interpreted as a sign of him being a pathologic liar instead of someone who would do everything for his friend. Even his motives were questioned…wondering if he REALLY left the First Order or might just be a double agent, trying to infiltrate the Resistance, even though there is absolutely no evidence for it in TFA! The fact that a man of colour is villainized, ridiculed, made out as weak and essentially a loser, who did everything just because of fear and because he is a liar, when all of his character’s storyline does originally make him look like a hero, is wrong on so many levels that I don’t even know where to start - and all of this seemingly to justify why he is not a suitable love interest for Rey! The fact that people did this with ease can’t help but make you wonder if they could do so because of their internalized racism. In this scenario a black man is made unworthy of a white heroine, even though his character was meant to be a hero just like she is. Turning a black man into a pathetic loser, even though his storyline contradicts it completely, falls right into racist behaviour patterns… especially if you do so to justify why a white character, who was constructed as a villain, is a better choice for the heroine than the black character who was constructed as a hero.

This is however just one kind of mistreatment Finn receives. Other scenarios involve Finn being gay to get him out of the way as a love interest for Rey. This way of thinking does not interpret Finn as gay for the sake of equality and representation but mainly to make him unsuitable as a love interest for the heroine. To use the sexuality of a character only to make room for a ship is obviously a totally wrong way of approaching homosexuality in fiction. Connected to this is people’s reception of some of Finn’s characteristics: for whatever reason many see Finn as unmanly, because he shows fear and seeks for support in dangerous, scary moments. This apparent unmanliness of his made some come to the conclusion that he is gay. So a man who does not fit into stereotypical ideas of how a man should be like… of course has to be gay, implying that a gay man is unmanly due to his sexuality? URGHS! If this is not the conclusion drawn by people, another popular one is that the “unmanly” Finn is not strong enough for Rey. Yet many of the people who express these ideas have no problem with Finn potentially being with a WOC who will be introduced in the Last Jedi. So he is too weak for Rey but not for an Asian woman they know nothing about? Does this scream racism? It obviously does…

Another tactic is….ignoring Finn. Removing him from all discourse, from all fan art and fan fics, erase him in pictures and switch him for Kylo Ren. Not only does this make no sense looking at the actual movie, but it removes the movie’s black lead from his rightful position. You can’t tell me it doesn’t leave a sour taste in people’s mouths if TFA’s black hero is switched for the white villain? In the end it’s the erasure of a black person, no matter how you look at it. And that is just WRONG.

Let’s summarize: If your tactics to convince people of your ship involve sidelining and demonizing a POC character or discrediting a man because he doesn’t fit into stereotypical masculine characteristics… you got a problem.

Issue 2: The racist attacks towards other fans and John Boyega

People love to pretend this is a tiny issue and does not reflect the fandom but… Something like this can never be a tiny issue! I am not saying that no vile, wrong actions took place outside of the Reylo fandom (check out the very beginning of this post…I acknowledge the usual shipper war insanity, which did take place from all sides, not denying this for a second) – however there is a difference between people insulting each other for a ship, and people sending anonymous messages full of racist slurs to people of colour in this fandom because they are against Reylo or adore Finn. That is, to put it mildly, an absolute catastrophe and the fact alone that this sort of behaviour was inspired by a ship is shocking. If you then remember that one character of this ship is in fact a facist… It has “abort mission” written all over itself. Yet people did not even manage to keep their trash inside of the fandom… it made its way into the comments section of the actors’ social media accounts. One much cited incident took place on Daisy Ridley’s instagram page, where people threw around racist insults towards John Boyega. If anyone has followed her, they will know she took down her instagram. I can only assume that this incident did not do anything positive for her view of social media. Since apparently this is still not enough, some racists feel the need to spread lies about John Boyega, turning him into a sexual predator even… I don’t think I have to explain that this is absolutely, utterly unacceptable!! From slight, internalized racism to open, inexcusable racism - we have now seen it all. This has to stop! And it will not stop by the Reylo fandom insisting it’s not all of them. Of course it isn’t. But that doesn’t make it any less of a giant problem! I could as well now draw the conclusion that Reylo fans are okay with shipping Rey with a facist because they are okay with facism…. and racism. It would be unfair to many of them, sure… but let’s be serious…can anybody be blamed if they come to this conclusion at this point? And is it such a crazy idea to assume that this ships draws in racists and facists??

Issue 3: The reinterpretation of Kylo Ren as a misunderstood anti-hero

One preferred way to make the villain Kylo Ren worthy of Rey is to try and explain why he is the way he is. This goes beyond a serious psychological analysis of why he turned into a facist murderer. It is used to turn him into a guy who is not responsible for his actions and actually kinda nice. “Poor Ben Solo was targeted by Snoke in the womb, in the WOOOOMB!! He couldn’t do anything about it. His childhood was traumatizing (why exactly we do not know), he had nobody and so of course he fell into Snoke’s hands, the poor boy! He is so lonely and misunderstood!” I can’t even count how often I have read these kinds of things. Yet in TFA itself we have examples of people who were brought up by the First Order (Finn) and abandoned by their parents on desert planets (Rey), but neither of them follows Kylo Ren’s path at this point. Neither of them is drowning in self pity and going around killing and torturing people. So resistance is possible, even IF you are related to facists and even IF some dark force is targeting you. Portraying Kylo Ren as the victim of this storyline is doing injustice to all the people who suffered from his actions. He is not a brainless puppet. He made a decision. Maybe he will realise himself that it was the wrong one… but never in Star Wars has it seemed like those who join the Dark Side did so because they were brainwashed and had no other choice. Mostly they did it for selfish reasons and from everything we can see at this point, so did Kylo Ren. Does his background story make it understandable why he became evil? It seems so. It is meant to. But it is not meant to excuse his behaviour or make him a victim. Anakin, even before he became Darth Vader, always had the potential to be evil because of his character traits. It is the same for Kylo Ren and also Luke. Luke chose to become a Jedi and Kylo Ren chose the Dark Side. So no, he is not innocent, he isn’t a victim, he isn’t an anti-hero… He is a murderer, plain and simple. So turning him into some emo Disney-Prince is nothing but disturbing. It alters the story and changes what he truly is. Many do this to make him worthy of Rey and so that they can keep the illusion alive that he can be completely redeemed and fall into her arms. This is however not logical and should not happen under any circumstances if the Star Wars writers take their own writing and the legacy of the saga seriously. A facist and murderer is no misunderstood puppy. He is evil. If people romanticise him, they have issues. But then there’s also a serial killer fandom, right? And tbh I see clear similarities between that and some of the Kylo Ren fandom…

Btw: Diagnosing Kyle Ren with all sorts of mental illnesses does not make him a better person either. Nowhere among the symptoms of depression, PTSD etc. will you find “turns person into a facist killer”. The idea alone that blaming his acts on what could be a mental illness is insulting every single person who struggles with mental illnesses! It makes it seem like they are all potential murderers! This is HORRIBLE!

Issue 4: The acceptance and downright glorification of a facist regime

If only all members of the Reylo fandom tried to make it a possibility by redeeming Kylo Ren. This is of course also problematic to the moon and back, yet it is still preferable to the other option, which is to say that he has the right to do what he does. I have seen people say that the Republic is evil and someone had to do something against it, so what if they take drastic measures? (like killing everyone??) I have seen fanfics were people wrote about Nazi experiments like it’s some kind of kink. I have seen people call Kylo Ren and Hux “extra”, as if they were some fun drama queens and not members of a facist regime. I have seen people who hope Rey becomes evil, so that she and Kylo Ren become some evil super couple. What is this meant to say about the people who do and say these things? Some of them seem to see all of this as some joke, pointing out again and again that it is not real. Sure, supporting this in real life is a huge step further than squeeing over murderers in fiction… however if you see your views as unproblematic and hope they will find support in canon… God, I don’t even want to think about this… it’s just NUTS.

Issue 5: The interpretation of abusive behaviour as sexy and romantic

To make the scenes Kylo Ren and Rey share in TFA romantic, they require a certain interpretation. Take the torture scene. People say things like “He was sitting by her side, waiting until she wakes up herself because he didn’t want to wake her” So we have a villain that ties up a heroine to get information out of her. He sits down and watches his prisoner for a certain time, waiting until the prisoner wakes up. The idea that he admires her looks in this scene is something I have often seen as an argument why this scene is romantic. However people seem to ignore that this is not, let’s say, a friend who is staying in the same place with someone and watches them sleep. This is a villain who knocked out a woman, tied her up and now waits for her to wake up to get information out of her. Is this really a romantic situation or a creepy one? Another argument as to why this scene is romantic is that he apparently holds her captive in his private rooms. I have no idea if there is any evidence for this, but is it really romantic that a villain keeps a woman imprisoned in his private rooms to read her mind? Or is it an abusive action by a kidnapper who clearly has disturbing ideas? I mean imagine you get knocked out and kidnapped by someone and then wake up in a dark room, with the person who kidnapped you watching you in silence? Would you find this creepy or cute?

Even if we take a look at the kidnapping scene itself people can’t seem to get over the fact that Kylo Ren carries an unconscious Rey. Could this be a romantic moment in another context? It surely could be. IF he had not been the one to knock her out in the first place, and IF he was not carrying her into his spaceship to get information out of her (by torturing her with his powers)! We are not watching a man carrying his unconscious love to safety. We are watching a villain carry the unconscious heroine into the enemy’s headquarters. This is a scary situation, NOT a romantic one!

Obviously we have to end this with their final fight. Arguments I’ve heard mainly talk about how he did not kill her because he has a soft spot for her. Not only does this ignore the fact that he was quite severely injured during this scene but also the obvious reason why he is so interested in her. He wants her power. He wants to train her, wants her to join HIS side of the force because she is crazily powerful. Is her unique power enough of a reason not to kill her at this point? Of course it is! People who are strong with the force are rare and special. You do not just chop their heads off if they don’t directly do what you want. So no, this is again not a romantic scene. It is a scene between the villain of the movie and the heroine where he is trying to bring her to his side. Something else I keep hearing is that they apparently exchanged romantic looks when she escapes and he lies in the snow. He was just defeated by a scavenger from a desert planet! He, the mighty Kylo Ren! He knows that there probably won’t be a way around her on his way to power! And she knows that the head of the First Order wants to get his hand on her because of her power, because of something she never wanted to be part of. This is a “Holy Shit, this is our future” – moment. This is the start of an epic fight. Not two lovers staring longingly at each other!

To summarize: All scenes between Rey and Kylo Ren get reinterpreted as romantic, even if they are creepy, abusive and potentially lethal. Dare I claim that they would not be seen as such if they would not take place between a young woman and a young man? The fact though that these two people could theoretically put together their sexual organs should not make these scenes romantic or nice or hot. That people interpret them this way is more than problematic and makes it look like they find abuse, kidnapping and trashing each other with light sabers cute, when it would honest to God not be in any other context.

Issue 6: The sidelining of Rey in favour of Kylo Ren’s character development

Sadly most arguments for Reylo seem to centre around Kylo Ren and the redemption this relationship could bring to him. No words about why it is a great idea for Rey or why it should further her character development to fall for the villain. Kylo Ren often suddenly takes the position of the hero, it becomes his storyline and she, the actual heroine, becomes an asset that is being used to make him a better person. She is supposed to save the lonely, misunderstood man from his misery. Why she should do this mostly seems obscure. Most of these scenarios are combined with Issue 3. Kylo Ren’s crimes are downplayed, so that Rey can fall in love with him and “save” him. So again… canon Kylo Ren’s actions have to be reinterpreted and canon Rey’s storyline shoved aside in favour of his.

These six issues are my main reasons to stay away from the Reylo fandom. I have mostly experienced it as a toxic space for reasons that go beyond the usual shipper war problems. Even though I have read some of the theories and tried to stay open-minded… it was simply not possible looking at all the problematic and sometimes downright disgusting things that were happening all around. I only hope for the sake of Star Wars that Reylo stays nothing but a fanon ship and that this will somewhat calm down the situation. Canon Reylo could give power to people who clearly should not have any.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT PSA FOR ANY AND EVERY COMMUNITY

(Now, I was originally planning on posting this on my personal blog, but seeing as this blog gets more notes on my posts and is more Undertale oriented, I’ll be posting it here.)

Now, I’ve seen a lot of ship hate going around. Of course, there’s always going to be Frans and Fontcest haters, but I’ve recently seen a lot of hate on more popular ships like Soriel. I haven’t seen any posts bringing this topic up, so I decided to post it myself.

I’m not here to be a mascot for Soriel, Undyrus, and other ships, but I’m here to bring up the topic of ship hate. I don’t care what someone ships. You should never, NEVER hate on them for it. I don’t care if it’s Frans, Soriel, Fontcest, Sanscest, Papycest, it’s unacceptable.

What IS acceptable, however, is kindly asking someone to not hate on your ship. However, please do not SHOVE your ship into someone else’s face because it’s ‘The Right Ship’. There’s no such thing as a right ship. Everyone is entitled to their own, personal opinions.

Now, a while ago Undertale Amino had placed a ship ban because of people hating of ships. Some of the ships included in the ship ban were Charisk, Chasriel, and Friskriel because it was considered at ‘Incest’. Heck, someone even said that Charisk is technically SELFCEST! Now, they weren’t entirely specific on this topic. There are AUs where Frisk and Chara aren’t siblings, same with Chara and Asriel and Frisk and Asriel. When it comes to Chara, Frisk, and Asriel, you have to be specific on limitations because of the amount of AUs where they aren’t siblings.

Scooting back closer to the topic of ship hate, I don’t care what the ship is. The only reason to 'hate’ on someone is if they are being rude to you. Not your ship, but you as a human being. There have been people going as far to say that ships like Soriel and Undyrus are 'Crack Ships’. In my eyes, nothing is a crack ship. But then again, that’s my opinion that a lot of people won’t agree with.

Like I mentioned earlier, there is no such thing as a 'Right’ ship. None of it is wrong, none of it is right. When you ship something, you’re usually taking two or more fictional characters and liking the idea of them being romantically together. There’s nothing wrong with this. I don’t care if it’s 'Disgusting’, because all you have to do is unfollow the blog if you dislike the ship instead of telling them how to run their blog and what to ship. Let me put it in an example. Let’s say that it’s Election Day, and you’re planning to vote for Donald Trump. However, someone says that you can’t vote for Donald Trump because they don’t like Donald Trump, and that you have to vote for Hillary Clinton because that’s who they’re going to vote for.

Converting the example to our little shipping talk, you’re basically telling someone they can’t ship something, because you ship something else, and you don’t like their ship, therefore they have to ship what you ship.

Now going to the topic of Frans hate. I don’t ship Frans, but I respect that other people do. Just like everyone should respect that other people ship other things. I’ve seen a lot of blogs receive hate for shipping Frans because it’s pedophilia. However, there are AUs where Frisk is 'old enough’ to date Sans. Yet the blogs with those very AUs still get hate for shipping Frans. Evidence for Frans being 'Pedophilia’ is a line that MK says in the game, which is something along the lines of “Yo, you wear a stripped shirt too? Well then, you must be a kid just like me!”. But honestly, ANYONE can wear stripes. Just because other kids in the game such as Chara and Asriel wear stripes doesn’t mean that wearing stripes automatically makes you a kid in the game. Even if you are a kid in the game, there are AU’S where Frisk is an adult and dating Sans, therefore there’s no room for the argument of Pedophilia is Frisk is an adult in an alternate universe.

Therefore, there’s absolutely NO REASON for hating on a ship just because it’s 'wrong’, because it isn’t. There’s no such thing as a wrong ship. Telling someone that they should ship something else because their ship is 'wrong’ is taking away their freedom of speech. Everyone is allowed to ship whatever they want, whether it be 'wrong’ or 'Right’.

I’m going to be tagging as many fandoms as possible in this post, because even though it’s mostly Undertale related, it’s an important lesson for everyone who is in a fandom and actively ships something.

I’m tagging some people that I hope will reblog and spread the word, if you are tagged, please reblog. If you don’t, I completely understand.

Seventeen Reactions Masterlist Post

Let me know if the link is broken or goes to the wrong reaction!

I’ve always thought that Dan and Phil were like a yin yang, and I find it adorable. Just think about it…

1) Dan has a younger brother, Phil has an older brother.

2) Dan’s from the south, Phil’s from the north (and they met together to finally live more in the middle).

3) Dan has a dark aesthetic while Phil’s is much lighter and brighter (and their home, and their often shared wardrobe choices, are a combination of both).

4) Dan’s left-handed and Phil is right-handed (when, again, they can meet in the middle and sign things at the same time).

5) Dan lacked confidence while Phil always exuded it and as served as inspiration.

6) Dan is often witty, biting, and sarcastic while Phil is cheerful and effortlessly funny.

7) Even their appearances are complementary: Dan (despite being pale lately) is naturally tan with brown eyes. Phil is naturally pale with blue/green/yellow eyes.

8) Their fringes sweep in the opposite directions. What are he chances of that, seriously.

9) Probably least importantly, but still interesting, Dan dropped out of college and Phil got a Master’s degree.

I could go on.

Of course I ship Phan, but this isn’t even about that. They complement each other perfectly, and I think we can all agree that they were meant to be in some capacity. They also have so much in common where it counts that I don’t see their dynamic being any more perfect.

And I thought this sh*t only existed in cheesy fairytales… well, I guess it’s supposed to be cheesy.

**EDIT:**

I thought of more.

10) Dan’s high-pitched voice and Phil’s low-pitched voice. They can, and do, sing duets together perfectly.

11) Dan was born in the summer, and Phil was born in the winter

12) Dan’s earrings and Phil’s lack of them (because, according to Dan, his personality is “too adorable” for them, but I guess Dan’s isn’t).

13) Dan’s tendency to waffle on while Phil listens patiently, yet his still clear respect and admiration for everything Phil says.

14) Dan’s more serious vs. Phil’s more lighthearted nature (look at “The Urge” vs. “The Hand”).

15) **last-minute add because jfc I thought of another one: Dan’s naturally wavy hair and Phil’s naturally straighter hair.

16) And this is a big one: Dan’s love for cursing, bad language, and being inappropriate and Phil’s desire to keep things PG. Like I’ve said for different points above, they often meet in the middle here on their collabs and it’s perfect (most of Phil’s innuendo is in these vids and not when he’s alone, so being together and compromising on their humor creates comedy gold).

Dan’s said in recent interviews that he and Phil disagree often about things, and Phil admitted that they think “quite differently”, yet they “always find a compromise.” This is so rare and beautiful.

Much like their fringes, they always meet in the middle.
