Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPedibleart

Weekend Hashtag Project is a series featuring designated themes and hashtags chosen by Instagram’s Community Team. For a chance to be featured on the Instagram blog, follow @instagram and look for a post every week announcing the latest project.

Today is #FoodRevolutionDay, an event created by chef Jamie Oliver to drive positive change in food education and public health. To celebrate, the goal of this weekend’s project is to make photos and videos using healthy, fresh food in creative ways.

Here are some ideas to get started:

  • Visit a local farmers market, and pick up ingredients based on color and quirkiness.
  • Cook your favorite healthy dish, and style it in a new way — as a face or picture — or stage a scene entirely out of good-for-you snacks.
  • Bring fruits and vegetables to life in a playful #Boomerang or video.

PROJECT RULES: Please add the #WHPedibleart hashtag only to photos and videos taken over this weekend and only submit your own visuals to the project. If you include music in your video submissions, please only use music to which you own the rights. Any tagged photo or video taken over the weekend is eligible to be featured next week.

DIY: Grill Storage

Break out the hammer, because this weekend’s DIY is all about nails. Inspired by nail art (the hardware kind), we sought to make a decorative hook board to store all of our tools for the grill. We started with a project board (cut in half for free at Home Depot) and painted it Sandy Feet, then painted the hooks Nobility Blue. We sketched out our font for the letters BBQ, and hammered the nails in place. To finish off, we painted the nail heads Japanese Kimono. A note: when you attach your hooks, be sure to have a fully charged power drill (not pictured). You will definitely need it.

The goal of this weekend’s hashtag project is to photograph the places you or a fellow artist go to be creative. The project takes inspiration from London-based artist and guest curator Helen Downie (@unskilledworker), best known for her fashion-inspired portraits and paintings. Here are Helen’s tips to get started:
