wednesday warrior

Warrior Wednesday: U.S. Marines with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s Force Reconnaissance Detachment conduct military operations in urban terrain training aboard Camp Pendleton, Calif., Feb. 19, 2015. These Marines are a part of the MEU’s Maritime Raid Force. The training provides the MEU with the opportunity to train for similar environments in preparation for their upcoming deployment.

*sniff* I am gonna miss this great comic with the adventures of the Novas, starring Sam Alexander and Richard Rider…. *sniff*

And we see Richard Rider is enjoying himself with his friends whom I guess it’s his old teammates of the New Warriors. Wait a minute, if there’s Dwayne Taylor, then maybe there’s Vance Astrovik beside Richard and that girl might be…Silhouette or Turbo?

I read the new issue of Invincible Iron, and I absolutely loved the scene between Riri Williams and Sharon Carter about SHIELD. The way you're building up Riri's philosophy with being a hero in relation to her origin is incredibly nuanced and kinda inverse to what Tony Stark was all about when he was in the armor. I can't wait to see what happens to her next!

THANK you.  So many awesome responses to the latest issue. So glad so many of you made it out to the store yesterday. Please support your local stores.

And for those of you who were waiting for the first riri williams storyline to complete before diving in… Its complete! Our first storyline. take a look

and for you Wednesday warriors, here is a little sneak peek of next issue

Today’s WARRIOR WOMEN WEDNESDAY drawing is Grainne O’Malley!

We call her a gazillion different things, popularly “Grace O’Malley,” but I think her Irish first name better suits her while the Anglicized last name helps for clarity in knowing who I’m talking about and finding more about her.

Not too many of these subjects have long lives with happy endings, but O’Malley oversaw her lands and seas as rich as a troll and died of old age, her kid having been ennobled and her fleet as active as ever.

Warrior Wednesday: Lance Cpl. Andrew Englund, a radio operator from Kilo Company, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, patrols through the Nawa District bazaar after conducting a security sweep at Khalaj High School in Nawa, Afghanistan, Sept. 7, 2010. The school year began Sept. 5, and the Marines and their Afghan counterparts throughout 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment’s tactical area of responsibility have provided security in Nawa District’s schools each day.

Hmmm….it’s nice of Kaine to acknowledge his friend/surrogate daughter, Aracely (a.k.a Hummingbird) in this issue. Though I personally prefer that if Aracely’s friends like the New Warriors (except from Sam Alexander who’s in Champions) get acknowledged too. I don’t know whether I should have faith in Peter David, I am just too jaded to care since most of the time the characters of any cancelled titles tend to get forgotten.

- Ben Reilly: Scarlet Spider #2

Today’s Warrior Women Wednesdays drawing is good ol’ Joan of Arc, an obvious choice but, hey, I can’t leave out all the everybody-knows-em ladies, ‘cause then I’d never get to draw, like, Joan of Arc.

This one spoiled me!  There are so many firsthand accounts of her appearance.  Strong, stocky build, very dark complexion, short cropped black hair, prominent, wide-set eyes… we know from her clothing that she was about 5′2, we know what her coat of arms looked like… too often I have to make all of this stuff up.  This one was like a the research version of a Cadbury Cream Egg: a rare but incredibly appreciated treat.

Joan was like banner 40x > sword, but compositionally it’ so much easier to deal with a sword, and I didn’t want to crop a banner to make it fit this layout, so, sorry, I guess.
