For the last few months I’ve been developing a mentoring scheme called ‘We Are DOPE’ - DOPE standing for Defining Our Potential & Excellence, it’s a scheme that’ll fall under @wearelaua. It’s all about matching up young people between the ages of 16-25 with an industry mentor that they’ll work with for 6 months on a project with a clear outcome. We’re rolling it out in fashion first (music and poetry will soon follow) and already have some incredible mentors on board as well as a great development package for the first cohorts that we’re still building which includes masterclasses with some amazing people in the industry. As the launch is slowly creeping up I’m doing a final call to people who may want to get involved. Perhaps you have years of experience in fashion (or something that relates to fashion) and want to be a mentor, or have a service you would like to offer in-kind, or maybe you’d like to host a masterclass for the mentees in a specific area (digital media, design, business dev. etc) or perhaps your company wants to partner with us. If you’re interested or know someone that might be or just want more information please drop me an email on fiona@loveandurbanarts.com. Feel free to share and repost - the support is much appreciated. Thank you :) #FutureLeaders #WeAreDOPEUK #LAUA #Fashion #Mentors

Looking for a fashion mentor? #IAmDOPEUK (@WeAreDOPEUK) might just be for you.

We Are DOPE [DOPE standing for Defining Our Potential & Excellence] is a 6 months mentoring programme with you in mind. Giving 4 young people between the age of 16 - 25 the opportunity to be mentored by one of four highly skilled industry professionals, those being Lauren Martin, PR Manager - J.Smith Esquire, Tiffanie Darke, Editor - The Sunday Times Style, Aisha Siddiq, Junior Account Manager - Livity and Craig Smith, Brand Communication Director - Ted Baker.

To get involved you have to register here before 11:59pm on August 31st [you’ve got 7 weeks and to get your entry together]. You submission must be fashion based (maybe developing a fashion collection, a blog, a pr agency etc).

Once you’ve registered you’ll be asked to explain your project further and upload supporting evidence. This could be in the form of a picture or a video (uploaded to YouTube that is no more than 90secs). Your supporting evidence should show why your idea is DOPE [Defining Our Potential & Excellence].

After the submissions closing date there will be a 10 day voting period and the 10 applicants with the highest votes will be invited to meet the mentors and be interviewed. This where the 4 finalists will be decided.

It’s a great opportunity that we’re happy to share with you. Find out more information at www.wearedope.co.uk.
