we will know peace

the-art-of-fudgel  asked:

wait why do all the animals in the zoo au belong to thomas

“James shot me a text telling me to get to work. Hadn’t even put my bag down yet and I found out they made a zoo with all my precious children. I was less than pleased.”

First and Last Words

Elena Gilbert 1x01:

Dear diary, today will be different. It has to be. I will smile, and it will be believable. My smile will say “I’m fine, thank you.” “Yes, I feel much better.” I will no longer be the sad little girl who lost her parents. I will start fresh, be someone new. It’s the only way I’ll make it through.

Elena Gilbert-Salvatore 8x16:

Even after our long and happy life together Damon is still worried he’ll never find Stefan again, but I know he’s wrong. Because peace exists in anything we hold dear. That is the promise of peace is that one day after a long life, we find each other again.

One thing that amaze me from the whole humans are space orcs is that, as far i know, no one have mentioned how human media or more specific “Human horror / sci fi media” will affect how the rest of galactic society will perceive humanity

Aliens surprised about how they have never cross paths with the aliens species the humans have battle as see in these “movies” humans love to watch

At first they thinks “movies” must be some class of audiovisual record of human history to be thaught to future genertions but then they are atonished about how humans look foward to see and renact some of these “movies” in what they called “reboots” and collect some ritual figures of the heros and adversaries in that movies.

Even the young ones get some of this as “toys”

Humans are a proud warrior race it seems

But then, it sinks to them “We never have heard about that aliens species before…” and the humans looks almost so casual sharings and retelling this movies almost funnily between them. And its shocking because, how one single race could just have extinguished from the face of the universe multiple threats and just shrug it off??

Its not a surpise that when the first contact bewtween space community and the human race start with “Hello humans! We come in peace! No, seriously.. really we really come in peace. We know about the legendary tales of Ellen Ripley and Will Smith and do not have a death wish”

i’ve noticed in a lot of online fandom spaces, inclusionism is sorta seen as the “default ideology” and if someone dares to challenge that by calmly explaining why cishets aren’t and never will be LGBT, they’re suddenly demonized for “spreading ace discourse” while pretty much everyone else has been doing the same thing all along. the only difference is that they assumed everyone would agree with their views.

i’ve seen fandom networks and groupchats that survived months of inclusionists yelling about “aphobes” (as if these people actually held institutional power over them on the axis of sexuality) only to crack the second an exclusionist stopped hiding their opinions. it’s not an uncommon trend. i have friends who were kicked out of groups for “making it unsafe” simply for criticizing the necessity of mogai labels/use of the SAM or just saying that cishets aren’t LGBT, while inclusionists were able to freely rant about how evil “REGS” were and assume they weren’t hurting anyone in the chat the entire time.

the majority of exclusionists i know in my own fandom work extremely hard to hide their opinions™ due to the vicious retaliations we’ve seen inclusionists perform (doxxing, getting put on lists with literal nazis/terfs/pedophiles, getting harassed/receiving death threats, you name it). inclusionism is literally built on proud homophobia/transphobia so it’s no wonder they retaliate in ways that further dehumanize us, but the fact that they still have the guile to act like they’re “more progressive” and play the victim after all of it is evil. and assuming inclusionism to be the “default ideology” in online fandom spaces is a surefire way to ensue more people who don’t know better buy into their agenda when it’s literally irrelevant to 99% of fandom-related content.

Top 10 reasons to read Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo

#1 Dr. Jesper Fahey

“Why is he looking at me this way.” (Kuwei)

“Kaz is wondering if he should keep you alive,” said Jesper. “Terrible for the nerves. I recommend deep breathing. Maybe a tonic.”

#2 True Friendship

“Are you hungry? We have chocolate biscuits.” (Nina to Inej)

“Oh sure,” said Jesper. “She gets the cookie hoard.”

“I’d tell you to ask the White Blade, but…” Inej shrugged.

“I hope she suffered.”

“What? We can’t both be merciful and serene.”

"You’ve saved my life. I’ve saved yours.”

“I think you’re ahead on that count.”

“No, I don’t mean in the big ways.” Nina’s eyes took them all in. “I mean the little rescues. Laughing at my jokes. Forgiving me when I was foolish. Never trying to make me feel small. It doesn’t matter if it’s next month, or next year, or ten years from now, those will be the things I remember when I see you again.”

#3 The student becomes the teacher

“Wylan Van Eck, you lied to Kaz Brekker.” Jesper clutched a hand to his chest. “And you got away with it! Do you give lessons?”

#4 Mature and responsible adults

"I have been very patient with all of this, Jesper, but I am at my limit. I want you down here before I count ten or I will tan your hide so you don’t sit for two weeks.” Colm’s head vanished back down the stairs.

The silence stretched. Then Nina giggled. “You are in so much trouble.”

Jesper scowled. “Matthias, Nina let Cornelis Smeet grope her bottom.”

Nina stopped laughing. “I am going to turn your teeth inside out.”

“That is physically impossible.”

#5 Once again  Kaz being the bastard of the Barrel, the demon full of tricks, the mad man everyone feared  a 17 year old with a crush

His eyes scanned her face as they always had, closely, hungrily, snatching at the details of her like the thief he was—the even set of her dark brows, the rich brown of her eyes, the upward tilt of her lips. He didn’t deserve peace and he didn’t deserve forgiveness, but if he was going to die today, maybe the one thing he’d earned was the memory of her—brighter than anything he would ever have a right to—to take with him to the other side.

She smiled then, her eyes red, her cheeks scattered with some kind of dust. It was a smile he thought he mightdie to earn again.

Inej laughed, her hood falling back from her hair. “That’s the laugh,” he murmured.

#6 Grisha characters cameo

Kaz’s eyes narrowed. “Sturmhond.”

“He knows me!” Sturmhond said delightedly. He nudged Genya with an elbow. “I told you I’m famous.”

Zoya blew out an exasperated breath. “Thank you. He’s going to be twice as insufferable now.”

#7 Jealous?! Me?! Never!

Kuwei turned to Jesper. “You should visit me in Ravka. We could learn to use our powers together.”

“How about I push you in the canal and we see if you know how to swim?” Wylan said with a very passable imitation of Kaz’s glare.

#8 True love understands

“You’re better than waffles, Matthias Helvar.”

A small smile curled the Fjerdan’s lips. “Let’s not say things we don’t mean, my love.”

#9  I’m not crying. You are!

“I would come for you,” he said, and when he saw the wary look she shot him, he said it again. “I would come for you. And if I couldn’t walk, I’d crawl to you, and no matter how broken we were, we’d fight our way out together—knives drawn, pistols blazing. Because that’s what we do. We never stop fighting.”

#10 Nice and peaceful things

"Genya Safin knows poisons like no one else, and David Kostyk developed all kinds of new weapons for King Nikolai.” She glanced at Matthias. “And other things too! Nice things. Very peaceful.”

wtf is “compulsory sexuality”????

like how is that even a legitimate term if you remove the hetero factor from it?

why do aroaces insist on taking/modifying lesbian experience language and grafting it onto their own lexicon with the hopes that it will SOMEHOW still be an equatable experience?

when will this STOP?

I swear to God, if Thomas' reaction to finding out that Harry and Murphy finally consummated their relationship in Peace Talks isn't utterly ridiculous, I'm gonna stage a revolt against Jim Butcher.
  • Thomas: *stares at Harry*
  • Harry: ...?
  • Thomas: *stares at Murphy*
  • Murphy: ...?
  • Harry: ...Murphy, shoot him in the head, please.
  • Murphy: With pleasure.
  • Thomas: *dabbing at his eyes with a handkerchief* I'm so happy I don't even care.

why is the q slur always the ONE thing which liberals running “social justice blogs” get into a heat over being asked to tag? like i’m sorry but there’s nothing “radical” or “enlightened” or “revolutionary” about refusing to tag literal hate slurs on your “uwu acceptance uwu social justice uwu” blog, especially when the hate slurs in question are such a common trigger for so many people. if you’re willing to tag just about any other trigger or hate slur on your “accessible/oppressed minority-friendly” blog EXCEPT for that one, then you have some serious guile and need to rethink your stances.

like get off your fucking moral high horse and look at the bigger picture here. there are people who don’t want to see that word due to SPECIFICALLY lgbt-related abuse they’ve endured, and refusing to tag it or even just acknowledge it as the hate slur that it is only tells me that you’re nowhere as “radical” or “enlightened” or “revolutionary” as you believe you are, and therefore not to be trusted on lgbt issues. it’s that simple.

lup is one of those people who does something just because somebody told her she wouldn’t/shouldn’t.
so like barry sees her eat a little bit of raw cookie dough and tells her not to eat too much or she could get sick, and she looks him dead in the eye - “fuckin watch me, punk” - and just starts eating the whole thing while barry watches in horror

Your Night of Gratitude.

Tonight is a beautiful night, isn’t it.

Why, you ask?

Because we are still alive and able to experience another beautiful day tomorrow.

Because we may fall asleep in peace, knowing that we are surrounded by people who love us.

Because we are given another chance to chase after our wildest dreams, and make the world a better place.

Before you rest your head down, reflect on all of the positivity present in your life. Think deeply. Feel gratitude for all that there is. There truly is a lot to be thankful for.

i keep thinking about this post from @sleepdontvisit because it really sums up so much of why i clung onto being ace for dear life during my mogai phase, despite knowing i was bi/calling myself biromantic in addition to being ace. because when you really think about it, it made no sense. even when i was using the split attraction model, i STILL should’ve just called myself biromantic and made that the most important aspect of my orientation (since that describes the attraction you DO have, as an orientation SHOULD), but……i didn’t. and for the longest time, i thought that i had done this solely due to internalized homophobia, but the above post helped me realize that something else was at work here.

when het aces emphasize their aceness as being the only facet of their orientation (thereby ignoring the heteroromantic part), it’s because they’re using it to claim that they “aren’t really straight” as a way to ignore and get around their straight privilege. by saying that “aceness is its own identity” and should therefore always be emphasized over their heteroromanticism, that’s pretty much saying “yes i experience (some form of) attraction, but instead i’m going to ignore that and define my entire identity based on the attraction i DON’T experience.” not only does this make no sense, but it’s incredibly misleading and outright damaging to LGBP aces, whose SGA is something that most likely had to be independently realized and fought for in an internal battle against their heteronormative socialization.

this separation/unnecessary distancing which het aces make from their romantic attraction does immense amounts of harm to LGBP aces. our same/similar gender attraction isn’t considered the “default” to society, and het aces will never have the experience of having to accept SGA in themselves—otherwise, they wouldn’t pull this shit. because literally anyone who’s ever fought an internal battle against compulsory heterosexuality knows that emphasizing a non-SGA facet of your orientation is the LEAST productive way to go about unlearning compulsory heterosexuality and eventually accepting your own SGA. so, when het aces say “straight aces aren’t really straight because they’re ace,” this causes serious damage to aces who experience SGA, because by the same logic, you’re also “not really gay/lesbian/bi/pan because you’re ace” too.

for me personally—despite realizing i was bi around age 12-13 and “realizing” i was ace around age 18 (and eventually reassessing it because i turned out to not be ace after all)—i legitimately didn’t feel comfortable identifying as bi at the same time as identifying as ace, because i had internalized this belief that i “wasn’t really bi” (but rather that i was ace) so deeply. i felt like i was “appropriating bi experiences” and therefore had no RIGHT to call myself exactly what i was and had always assumed i was for years on end (despite not accepting it right away, but that’s a post for another time).

this experience was extremely damaging because i was just barely starting to become comfortable in viewing myself as bi and coming out to a few trusted people, only to have all of that progress i had made unravel before my eyes with this ace rhetoric. i was still so terrified at the idea of being bi that i was looking for any and every excuse to distance myself from that identity, and this exact rhetoric from het aces happened to aid me perfectly in avoiding confronting my internalized homophobia for years on end. i can assuredly say that i would’ve been so much better off if i had never come across this rhetoric to begin with, and that says quite a lot about how much harm it caused me and so many others.

this got way longer than i had originally intended so……tl;dr please stop saying “i’m not straight because i’m ace” when you’re a het ace. LGBP aces are at a higher vulnerability toward distancing themselves from their romantic attraction, and it’s not because they’re ace, it’s because they experience SGA. they will see you saying this, internalize it, and apply the same logic to their own identities to justify “not really being lesbian, gay, bi, or pan,” and it WILL cause them serious harm. especially if they’re at a point in their life where they aren’t confident/stable enough in their LGBP identities to immediately recognize their own internalized homophobia when it occurs, which applies to like……a VERY large portion of the tumblr user database, so don’t you DARE pretend that spreading this rhetoric here is “completely harmless.” i’ve already proven to you that it isn’t.

maybe this hurts so much
because we have always written our prayer into stone.
in Jerusalem arched backs sway
like palm branches in hot summer winds,
as they whisper holy words into ash and brick
their sorrow becomes sacred,
even the crevices begin to weep with them.

when we say goodbye to our dead
a crown of pebbles, not petals, lays gently
at the foot of every tomb. this is to say
their memory will not be fleeting.

170 headstones toppled. then 100 more.
each crack a reminder:
even in death
jewish bodies do not get to know peace.

maybe this hurts so much
because we have always put our pain into stone.
it is easier this way.
boulders are lighter to carry
than the weight of our dead.
we have grown weary of mourning.

—  a reflection on the recent desecrations of two Jewish cemeteries in Missouri and Philadelphia

Upon realizing she was failing Potions, and possibly wouldn’t be accepted into the Auror program, Nymphadora Tonks decided to do whatever she had to do sixth year to get her Potions NEWT.

Receiving the grade involved three things: her newfound ability to change her features to match a photograph, a picture of a young red-headed woman laughing, and Snape’s utter lack of remorse

The utter disgusting-ness of what she’s done makes her realize, six years into her Hogwarts career, that she really is a Hufflepuff after all - that she values hard work, patience, and honesty. That she should have valued them a little more before slipping behind a closed door with Snape, before letting him call her Lily, before learning things about the school’s worst teacher that she will never be able to unsee.

It’s after that unfortunate experience that she decides, NEWT or no NEWT…she’s going to earn her grade, and her spot as an Auror. Because she’s a Hufflepuff, goddammit. And Hufflepuffs don’t cheat for the grade.

@cpt-starlord - this is your fault.
