we used to be young and travel

The named victims so far:

Georgina Callander, 18

An 18-year-old college student from Lancashire, was the first victim to be identified following the Manchester attack.

Many of her friends have paid tribute to the teen, alongside Runshaw College where she was studying, and a number of celebrities.

“Georgina Callander was a former Bishop Rawstorne pupil studying with us on the second year of her Health and Social Care course.”

Saffie Rose Roussos, 8

She had been at the Ariana Grande concert with her mum Lisa Roussos and sister Ashlee Bromwich when the explosion shook the venue. Her mum and sister were rushed to hospital, but lost contact with Saffie. Saffie-Rose Roussos died from her injuries at the concert on Monday night.

Chris Upton, headteacher at Saffie’s school, said in a statement: “Saffie was simply a beautiful little girl in every aspect of the word. She was loved by everyone and her warmth and kindness will be remembered fondly. Saffie was quiet and unassuming with a creative flair.”

John Atkinson, 28

28-year-old John Atkinson from Bury was the third victim to be identified.

It’s understood that John had been leaving the concert when a lone man detonated a suicide bomb shortly after 10.30 on Monday evening.

Megan Hurley, schoolgirl

It is not known how old Megan was, but earlier this evening the chair of governors at Halewood Primary School said a girl who went to the school had died in the suicide bombing, according to Liverpool Echo.

He added that she had attended with her older brother who was seriously injured.

Olivia Campbell, 15

A heartbroken Mrs Campbell had broken down in tears on ITV’s Good Morning Britain earlier in the day, when her daughter was missing.

She spoke of how she had not spoken to her daughter Olivia since she set off for the event. "I can’t get through to her. I’ve called the hospitals, I’ve called all the places, the hotels where people say that children have been taken.”

"I’ve called the police. There’s no news, I’ve just got to wait. I’m waiting at home just in case she turns up here,” she told the morning program.

Alison Howe, 45 and Lisa Lees, 47

Two mums waiting to collect their teenage daughters after the concert were among the victims of the bomb attack. Their daughters, both aged 15, are understood to be safe.

Angelika, 40 and Marcin Klis, 42

Marcin and Angelika Klis, Polish parents of a student at the University of York, have been confirmed dead after the Manchester attack.

The pair posed for a selfie in the city centre just before going to the concert to pick their daughters up.

Their 20-year-old daughter had posted a plea for help on Facebook after they didn’t contact her following the attack.

The pair leave behind two daughters, Alex and Patricia.

Martyn Hett, 29

Martyn Hett, a Coronation Street superfan who had a tattoo of  Deirdre Barlow on his ankle and with his boyfriend won Come Dine With Me, has been named as one of the dead.

Kelly Brewster, 32

Kelly Brewster was at the concert with her sister Claire and niece Hollie Booth. She died shielding her niece from the blast and leaves behind a young daughter, Phoebe. Hollie has two broken legs but is safe.

Jane Tweddle-Taylor, 51

Jane Tweddle-Taylor had gone to the Arena with a friend to pick up the friend’s daughter. She was a mother of three: “One of the biggest challenges we’ve had is one of my daughters was away travelling in Australia, so we were trying to pick a time to notify her.”

Nell Jones, 14

Her family and friends had posted appeals on social media saying she was missing following the concert. A student at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School.  She had been recently using crutches after suffering a ligament injury.

These are the 13 out of 22 named victims as of Wednesday, 24th of May at 2pm (GMT)

TRUMP’S UNNECESSARY CRUELTY

The theme that unites all of Trump’s initiatives so far is their unnecessary cruelty.

1. His new budget comes down especially hard on the poor – imposing unprecedented cuts in low-income housing, job training, food assistance, legal services, help to distressed rural communities, nutrition for new mothers and their infants, funds to keep poor families warm, even “meals on wheels.”

These cuts come at a time when more American families are in poverty than ever before, including 1 in 5 children. So, why is Trump doing this? To pay for the biggest hike in military spending since the 1980s – at a time when the U.S. already spends more on its military than the next 7 biggest military budgets put together.

2. Trump and his enablers in the GOP are on the way to repealing the Affordable Care Act, and replacing it in a way that could cause 14 million Americans to lose their health insurance next year, and 24 million by 2026.

Why is Trump doing this? To give $600 billion in tax cuts over the decade mostly to wealthy Americans, when the rich have accumulated more wealth than at any time in the nation’s history.

The plan reduces the federal budget by only $337 billion over the next ten years – that is a small fraction of the national debt, in exchange for the largest redistribution from the poor and middle class to the wealthy in modern history.

3. Trump is banning Syrian refugees and slashing the total number of refugees this year by more than half. This comes just when the world is experiencing the worst refugee crisis since World War II.

So, why is he doing this? Your odds of dying by a lightening strike are higher than by an immigrant terrorist attack. No terrorist attacker inside the U.S. has come from Syria (nor, for that matter, from any of the 6 countries in Trump’s current travel ban.)

4. Trump is rounding up undocumented immigrants helter-skelter – including people who have been productive members of our society for decades, and young people who have been here since they were toddlers.

Why is Trump doing this? These actions come when unemployment is down, crime is down, and we have fewer undocumented workers in the U.S. today than we did ten years ago.

Trump is embarking on an orgy of cruelty for absolutely no reason. This is profoundly immoral. It is morally incumbent on all of us to stop it.

anonymous asked:

May I ask how it reminded you of Gemma?

From point A to point B really.. but I’m open to interpretations :)

“Had another talk about where it’s going wrong, but we’re still young, we don’t know where we’re going but we know where we belong” - I can picture Gemma being someone he talks to when he needs advice on something serious. He’s always saying how she’s smarter than him and stuff. And I think Harry’s road ahead is new one, and maybe an unsure one for the first time in years.. And maybe Gemma feels the same? But the one thing they have, is a strong home life :) “We know where we belong”. ❤️ And yeah, they’re both young, duh.

“We started two hearts in one home.” They def did :)

“It’s hard when we argue. We’re both stubborn, I know.” I can see this lol. Them arguing a bit over silly things sometimes, and I def think Gemma can be stubborn. (not in a negative sense, but she’s very opinionated and clever and I don’t think she’s afraid to tell him the blunt truth, and also, maybe stuff he doesn’t wanna hear sometimes. Like siblings do, hehe.)

“When I run out of rope (road?), you bring me home” Again, she’s someone he can count on when he’s a bit directionless and/or needs advice.

“Sweet creature, we’re running through the garden, where nothing bothered us” An imagery of them running around in their garden as kids, and how he sometimes thinks about simpler times when they were young, like nostalgic thoughts :)

“I always think about you and how we don’t speak enough” They grew up and Harry has been traveling the world since he was 16 basically.. and he’s always mentioned how the one thing that’s negative about his job is that he doesn’t see his family much, and I can imagine that Harry sometimes can forget to call/text? Like, I don’t think he means anything by it, I can just see him as someone who sometimes just zones out from that stuff, ‘cause he’s not huge on social media and stuff and he prefers actual face to face convos. Which with his job, is difficult sometimes :p And I can see him thinking about how he wishes they spoke more, and meaning to do something about it, but then time just slips away from him… maybe esp when he was away on tour, which he was pretty much every year, you know. And then it was the album and Dunkirk, so.

He’s repeating this sentiment of how they don’t talk enough, and they’re both stubborn and yadda yadda haha, but in the end, he just really misses this person, and they’re always in his thoughts and he values them so much.

films to watch

so i saw a post listing films in foreign languages and i thought i could expand on the list a little bit but my addition got so massive i decided to move it to a separate post. this list will focus on my target languages and feature a little bit of french as well just to spice it up.

films are good for several reasons

  • usually quite fun
  • actually challenging if u watch w/o subtitles and the easiest way to achieve immersion in the privacy of your home
  • “productive procrastination”
  • might give u cultural insight as well
  • or encourage you to learn some history!!!!
  • i’m really tired of people watching almodóvar and being like uuuuuuhuuuu look the great spanish director and forgetting that not only are there spanish films not directed by almodóvar but also that spanish is spoken in other countries as well and GUESS WHAT they produce culture

ok here we go!!!!! im really lazy and my computer is agonizingly slow so i can provide no links. if something interests you search for it et voila

WARNING!!!!! long post

Meta Monday: Rose Tyler Defence

Today’s Meta Monday post is brought to you by the person who left a full-fledged rant against Rose Tyler in a comment on one of my fics. For the record, if you spend 500 words putting down one half of my OTP, you cannot say you respect that I ship Ten/Rose. Also, RUDE.

So, I’m going to break down the comment point by point. This was left on my ficlet about Martha, and about halfway through, it switches to ranting about how Martha was treated by the Doctor. For the sake of length, I’ll cover that part next week. Bullet points in quotes are taken directly from the review.

1) Rose was selfish.

At times, yes. Because Rose was human and humans have flaws. She was a well-written character who didn’t always do the right thing for the right reason.

Can we talk for a minute about why Rose is selfish? She’d recently ended a relationship with someone who took advantage of her. Jimmy Stone took off and left her £800 in debt. When you’re used like that, you learn to look out for yourself first, because no one else will. It’s a habit that takes time to break.

Now, this accusation often includes, “Rose was selfish to leave her family to travel,” and I will argue against that with my dying breath. It is not selfish for a young woman to decide to leave her family and create her own life. That is natural. I know Jackie and Mickey struggled with it, but that’s their thing to deal with. Honestly, them expecting Rose to never change and always be the same Rose they remembered is more selfish than Rose choosing to create her own life.

Don’t we tell girls all the time that they should plan their lives based on what would make them happy, not on what people expect them to do? Isn’t that part of what feminism is? So why do we insist it’s selfish when a young woman is actually bold enough to flout expectations and forge her own path?

2) “She ditched Mickey immediately when she heard the Doctor telling her that Tardis is a time travel machine.”

Why is it so horrible that Rose jumped at an amazing opportunity for a better life? She was obviously bored and dissatisfied before meeting the Doctor. (Look at her face when she’s working at Henrik’s. That is not the face of someone content with their life.)

And let’s get rid of the notion that Mickey was a perfect boyfriend. Do you remember the part in “Rose” where she asks if she can borrow his laptop? And he says yes, but then in a panic tells her not to look at his email? That’s supposed to be a hint that he was cheating on her–another sign that her life was not ideal, meaning she was at a perfect spot for a change.

I understand that it hurts to be the person left behind. I’ll even agree that Rose should have said a bit more of a goodbye to Mickey than she did. (Though since the Doctor had already left once, I don’t blame her if she thought there was a clock ticking.) However, I refuse to blame Rose for wanting a different life. That’s grossly unfair.

Think about this: Donna pitched the keys to the car she shared with her mother in a bin, then took off without saying a word about travelling. And yet, I’ve never heard anyone say anything bad about the way she left her family. Why is what Rose did so much worse?

3) “She also not only made Jackie grieve over her, therefore making her get Mickey go to police 5 times the whole year.”

Oh boy. One of my favourites.

THE MISSING YEAR IS NOT ROSE’S FAULT.

We don’t know how long Rose had been with the Doctor when they landed at the beginning of “Aliens of London.” If we go strictly by time we’ve seen, it’s less than a week. If we believe there are adventures that happen offscreen, then maybe 2-3 weeks.

Not only that, but she had been assured that to her mum, only 12 hours would have passed. She walked into that flat thinking she’d been gone overnight, thinking her phone call from Platform One would have been plenty to ease any worries.

It is not Rose Tyler’s fault that the TARDIS, purposely or not, skipped a full year.

That means none of the things that happened to people on Earth during that time are her fault. It’s not her fault that her mum thought she was dead. It’s not her fault that Mickey was dragged in for questioning. Jackie and Mickey resenting Rose for the missing year does not make it actually Rose’s fault.

4) “She flirted with Adam and Jack and broke up with Mickey, making him feel like crap.”

Right. Mickey who told Rose–in the middle of trying to chat her up–that he was seeing Trisha Delaney? Which he told her purposely to make her angry? Mickey is not superior here, so don’t even try to make it out like Rose is the horrible tramp and Mickey is the long-suffering boyfriend.

And if she’d broken up with Mickey, what does it matter that she flirted with Adam and Jack? This kind of slut-shaming needs to end. Flirting is not a sin.

5) “She ripped Tardis console to become Bad Wolf, despite the fact that Tardis was an sentient being.”

I see this thrown out as a horrible thing all the time. Do you know who did not get angry at Rose for opening the TARDIS? The Doctor. Not once in his explanation to Jack during “Utopia” does he say anything bad about Rose opening the TARDIS. Not once does his voice betray anything but awe at what she became.

No one knows and loves the TARDIS more than the Doctor. If he wasn’t upset with Rose for opening her heart, maybe it wasn’t a bad thing for her to do.

Also, if you’re thinking Bad Wolf was a selfish choice, then you’re purposely reading your opinion that Rose was selfish into the text. Rose knew looking into the heart of the TARDIS could kill her–she’d seen what had happened to Margaret the Slitheen. But she chose to do it anyway, because it was the only way to save the Doctor.

Rose becoming Bad Wolf is not about her pouting because he sent her away. That is the wrongest interpretation of that scene I have ever seen, and it makes me angry every time. In the diner, when she’s trying to explain to Jackie and Mickey why she’s so upset, she starts with, “Two hundred thousand years in the future, he’s dying, and there’s nothing I can do.” And when Bad Wolf explains her choice and her purpose to the Doctor? “I want you safe. My Doctor. Protected from the false god.”

Not to mention her glorious speech in the diner, which is entirely about understanding that life is better when you live it for other people. Bad Wolf is Rose Tyler at her least selfish and she is absolutely brilliant.

6) “Martha actually worked hard to become a doctor, while Rose could not even get herself a job after getting her job blown off.”

Wow. There’s so much classist garbage in here, I don’t even know where to start.

  1. Yes, Martha worked hard. That doesn’t mean Rose didn’t. Stop putting down one companion to praise another.
  2. You don’t have to have an upper class job like doctor to be a hard worker. Poor people work their tails off, doing things no one else wants to do. Even Martha complained that she had to work in a shop. (Blink)
  3. Rose left with the Doctor twenty-four hours after Henrik’s blew up.
    1. No, she didn’t go out job hunting the day after almost dying.
    2. Lucky she didn’t, because if she hadn’t spent the day looking up the Doctor, she might not have been there when he faced the Nestene Consciousness. And the Doctor himself admitted that he would have died if it wasn’t for her.

What you’re really saying is that instead of going off to have a fabulous life, Rose should have stayed on the Estate. I’m being kind and not adding, “where she belonged” to the end of that statement, but really–that’s what you’re implying. That as a young woman from the Estate, Rose didn’t deserve the kind of life she found with the Doctor.

Why not?

Rose Tyler was clever. Practically the first thing the Doctor says to her is a compliment because she’d come up with a logical explanation for the Autons. It was wrong, but he was impressed by her logic.

Rose Tyler was brave. She saved the Doctor that first day, she ran into the TARDIS even though he told her it would be dangerous, she ran after the ghost in “The Unquiet Dead…” Do I need to go on? Rose Tyler shot out the window of the rocket she was on so she could kill Satan. How’s that?

Rose Tyler was compassionate. She objected strenuously to the Doctor asking Gwyneth to channel to Gelth. She saw a little boy calling for his Mummy and tried to help him. She refused to let the Doctor kill a Dalek. She was outraged by the slavery of the Ood.

Rose Tyler stood up for what she believed in, no matter what the cost. She never hesitated to tell the Doctor if she thought what he was doing was wrong, even though she knew he could always take her home if he got annoyed with her. When he was passed out from regeneration sickness, she stood up to the Sycorax in his place. She got in Mr. Connolly’s face in Idiot’s Lantern when he was being a sexist jerk, talking down to his wife.

Rose Tyler was clever, brave, and compassionate. When she was gone, the Doctor missed her ability to spot things he missed. “Rose would know,” was not just a sentimental comment–the solution to their adventures often started with Rose spotting something out of place and pointing it out to the Doctor. (The Unquiet Dead, The Long Game, Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, School Reunion, Idiot’s Lantern and Fear Her, just off the top of my head.)

So no, random reviewer, Rose is not flawless. But she’s also not the selfish girl you insist she is.

If Ziam is real they clearly have an open relationship because it doesn't take intense digging to find receipts on them sexting girls as recently as the week just gone.

Oh yeah, let’s not question THOSE sources. Because Zayn and Liam are clearly just sitting around slipping into people’s DMs.

It is a fact that all five members of One Direction have their social media accounts monitored, and often run, by social media managers. The Rye Social is the company that managed (manages?) 1D’s social media account, both for the band and personal accounts.

It’s rare that some information about shady shit that a celebrity as high profile as Zayn Malik or Liam Payne will just appear online organically. Just like, if a celebrity as high profile as Louis Tomlinson, who was in the midst of a world tour with his band whose main demographic is young women and girls, got a rando pregnant, there is no. way. in. hell. that any PR manager would let that story leak. And they CERTAINLY wouldn’t let it leak while the girl was still in her first trimester. 90% of people wait longer to tell their friends and family that they’re pregnant than they did to tell the entire world that she was apparently pregnant.

My point is, these stories and screenshots and multiple photos taken in clubs that just happen to clearly catch someone looking like they’re standing pretty close to someone else with the flash on are a pretty convenient way of making you question your goddamn sanity. It’s called gaslighting.

“Liam and Zayn can’t be together! Look at all these chicks they’re sleeping with!”

“Louis can’t be gay! Look at him standing close to a girl!”

Just because these things are caught with cameraphones and screenshots does not make them immediately legitimate.

Think about what screenshots like this serve to reiterate. First of all, that Liam and Zayn are straight. And second of all, that they’re complete morons because why would they put their cheating plans in writing? It’s pretty consistent with the media portrayal of both of them from 1DHQ. Well, definitely with Zayn’s character in terms of the cheating thing, but I’m sure Simon Cowell is doing everything he can in his power to discredit Liam’s character at the moment.

It would be very simple to be like, “Of course they’re going to sleep with lots of girls! They’re young and in the most successful band in the world.” That would certainly be consistent with the rock and roll lifestyle.

How-ev-er, there is one thing that should be like, “Hi, I’m a red flag!” And it’s this guy:

Niall travelled the goddamn world on a lad’s holiday doing God knows what and we got one or two fan photos. Niall dated Selena Gomez. You know how I know he dated Selena Gomez? Because a friend texted me from Shoreditch House to say, “lol Niall and Selena Gomez are sitting next to us and they keep making out.”

So you’re telling me that Niall can (semi-)publicly make out with one of the biggest stars in the world and not only do most people not know about it, but not one magazine or newspaper reported on it? But Zayn, Liam, Louis and Harry look at a girl crosseyed and it’s a Daily Mail exclusive?

One of these things is not like the other.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

screw writing young popes

write gay jewish popes.  write broadway actor popes.  write boring popes. write a pope who hates travel, write a pope who gets tired.  write a pope who’s desperate for a cardinal.  write a lesbian nun who doesn’t need anyone.  write popes who cry, popes who rant, popes who are use lambs to cope with masses, popes who eat ice cream in the pope’s quarters, popes who need validation and popes who are marginally valid..  THEY ARE ALL PAPAL, and all those things could exist in THE  POPE.  Popes shouldn’t be valued because we are young, or arguably straight, but because we are gay.  so don’t focus on writing popes who are young.  Write popes who are people.

Thankfully, the rain had let up significantly by the time you parked your car at the bottom of the long walkway, reaching your destination. Warm hues of orange and purple cascaded in the sky as the sun set in the distance, casting a soft glow over the large residence ahead.

Grabbing only your umbrella and travel backpack, you walked for the remainder of your journey. Raindrops continued to pelt gently against your umbrella as you smiled warmly up at the towering manor ahead of you. It had been almost 3 months since the last time you were here and that familiar sense of security had crept up on you again. As unconventional as this place and it’s inhabitants were, this would always be your home.

Today and Forever

Ok I’m finally getting around to writing this! Thanks to @a-broke-in-heart for the prompt, I’m actually a really big fan (phan) (i’m sorry) of this one and I can’t wait to get started!

Word Count: 1310

Dan’s POV

The wedding is in a week. I’m freaking out. A lot. It’s not that I don’t want to get married. Although marriage is really just a social construct, I love Phil, and Phil wants to do it. I don’t need a document or ceremony to say I love Phil, but he thinks we do, and that means we do.

However, if we must have a ceremony, I might as well make it as fun as I can. I proposed to Phil on his birthday in January, and ever since then I’ve been trying to piece together the perfect vows. It’s like a puzzle. There are so many pieces, and so many of them feel like they fit. But only one piece fits in a specific place. I love so many things about Phil, but I can only put them together perfectly in one way. The most important part, however, is that Phil doesn’t know.

Phil really wants this wedding to be perfect, and I’m going to make my contribution: an amazing surprise with the vows I’ve been working on for months. I’ve finally gotten them perfect and I can’t wait to read them to Phil. With the wedding only a few days away, I’m trying to memorize my vows in my room (yet another part of the perfect surprise) when I’m suddenly interrupted.

“Hey Dan, what are you up to?”

I jump at Phil’s abrupt appearance, dropping the index cards with my vows written on them all over the floor. I scramble to pick them up before Phil sees any of the writing, and set them on my bedside table. “Fuck, Phil. You scared me.”

“Working on your vows?”

“What? No. I’m preparing my next danisnotonfire video. I’m just gonna wing it with the vows.”

“Wing it? How can you wing it on something this important!?”

“It’ll be fine. It’ll be better than fine.”

“You promise?”

“I promise.”

Phil sighs. “Fine, but if you mess up the wedding, we’re getting a divorce.” Phil softly hit me on the arm before walking out. I let out a deep breath. That was close.

~October 18th, 2022~

Tomorrow. The wedding is tomorrow. I’m freaking out even more now. I’ve completely memorized my vows, yet I still don’t feel ready. I read over them one last time in the mirror before going out to the living room. I promised Phil I’d watch a movie with him tonight after my live show. It gives me less time to prepare, but as I said, I’d do anything for Phil.

I walk into the living room still trying to change my head from wedding preparation mode to domestic time with Phil mode. I find Phil pacing the room nervously. “Phil, what’s wrong?”

“Dan, we’re not ready. You haven’t rehearsed vows, I’m a nervous wreck, and the possibilities of things that can go wrong are endless! And nobody’s gonna come. Why did we have it on a Wednesday, Dan? What is wrong with us?”

“Phil, calm down. My vows will be great, you’re going to be fine, the rehearsal dinner yesterday went perfectly fine, and everyone RSVP’d. They’re going to show up.”

“I guess you’re right…” Phil looks like a sad puppy but then the fear returns to his eyes. “But what if someone gets sick? What if they lose the rings? What if-”

I cut Phil off the best way I know how: kissing him. I softly press my lips to his, and he kisses back. After a few all too short seconds, I lean back. “Better?”

“Much.” Phil smirk. “Is that the way you’re going to kiss me tomorrow?”

I grin back at him. “Tomorrow and for the rest of our lives.”

We curl up on the couch, seeming to have forgotten about the movie we planned to watch. “Dan, you always seem to know how to make me feel better. I love you.”

“I love you too.” I run my fingers through his jet-black hair until he falls asleep in my lap. I stand up, gently resting his head on a pillow. I smile down at the beautiful boy sleeping on the couch. “Tomorrow…” I whisper, planting a kiss on Phil’s forehead. He smiles at me in his sleep and I return to my room to rehearse my vows one last time.

Phil’s POV

I’m so nervous. Dan’s going to come down the aisle any second. I haven’t seen him all morning, as it is tradition, and it’s making me really anxious. Being without Dan for even a few hours messes with my head. I look around the park. We decided to have our wedding in the park, just like Dil and Tabitha’s. Everything around me reminds me of Dil and Tabitha’s wedding. The only difference is me.

Luckily, Dan was right about people showing up. An RSVP is pretty solid, I guess. Maybe having the wedding on a Wednesday wasn’t that bad of an idea after all. It is a pretty important date. I find it hard to believe. 13 whole years ago today, Dan and I first met in person. And now, we’re finally getting married.

Suddenly, the music starts to play. Since neither of us is a bride, I did allow us to waver from tradition just this once. l smile as the pianist plays Interrupted by Fireworks and Dan emerges from behind a makeshift wall. He’s wearing nothing but black, as I’d expect from him, except for a single blue rose in his suit pocket. His hair is naturally curled, the way only I’ve seen it, and he has a smile wider than even I’ve ever seen.

I find tears falling down my cheeks. The experience is just too overwhelming for me. The love of my life, looking beautiful as ever, is walking down the aisle to the tune of Interrupted by Fireworks to get married to me. It’s so powerful the tears are forced to fall.

The boy stops in front of me and takes my hand, smiling. I stare hopelessly into his eyes. I love him more than I thought possible. All I notice is his eyes, as I almost mindlessly read my vows off the index cards I had hidden in my pocked. Then Dan begins to say his vows. The fear creeps back into my stomach. He’s winging it. I quickly remind myself that he said he’s got this, and I trust him. The fear rooted in my stomach lets up a bit.

“Phil…” Dan looks into my eyes. I try to listen instead of becoming mesmerized by his eyes again. “It’s been 13 years. 13 years since I met you. 13 years since I hugged you. 13 years since I loved you, and I couldn’t love you any more. 13 years is a long time you know. There’s time for a teenager to fall hopelessly in love. There’s time for a young boy to feel alone in the world. There’s time for worldwide travels. There’s time for three houses, two cities, and two dogs. But there’s only time for one love, Phil. And that’s you. Thirteen years ago it was you, today it’s you, and it will be you forever. Today and forever.”

Dan smiles at me and I repeat his phrase back at him, taking his hands in mine. “Today and forever.”

We turn to the priest beside of us that neither of us have really bothered to notice until now. “By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husbands. You may kiss the groom.”

Dan smirks at me as I lean in and press my lips to his. I can sense the love in this kiss. It’s not the same love as it used to be. It’s a new, undying love. I can tell this is only the beginning for us. Today and forever.

Maybe its the Full Moon?

To get your day done right, read a really story oriented smut that I wrote while on sleeping medicine! It’s actually pretty alright. Message me or reblog if you want more supernatural!AU for BTS!

It was cold in the house.

You were always cold now-a-days.

Ever since Jimin left you were freezing, in your heart and in your body. There was no light and nothing to keep you warm.

No matter how many blankets you had, you still shivered, because none of them were him.

You watched the snow fall down from the sky in a beautifully horrible manner. It made you remember the boy who loved to run through the fields during the summer with you. As well as during the winter.

Park Jimin was your best friend since childhood. Since his parents passed away when he was young, yours had taken him in. Your parents were friends when they were younger as well and decided that Jimin would be treated like one of their own. Except that they always teased the two of you would get married in the future. Your mother would giggled and tease Jimin and say that he would be waiting for you at the end of the aisle one day. Being children you laughed at her and say no way, but as you grew, you noticed something very different about Jimin.

Especially once he hit puberty and turned into a massive wolf.

Yes, Park Jimin was a werewolf.

Words: 1714

‘Come her you.’ The man grinned. You felt his hand leaving scars on your arm while he tried to grabb. The rush of adrenaline didn’t care if you arm started bleeding or not, you needed to get away from the man that hitted you since you were little. He wasn’t your father but he was married to your mother and since he joined your life he treated you bad. But your mother wasn’t around and after all those years you decided that it was enough, you didn’t wanted this anymore and you rather ran away than to stay. So you jerked your arm loose, causing him to fall out of balance and smacking on the ground. He grabbed your ankle and you fell on the ground, you head kicked against the floor and you got dizzy while he climbed on to you. ‘I will show you how I treat disobedience.’ He hissed. Your hand looked for something, anything to hit him with on the head. And when you found a piece of wood you didn’t think about it, you just smached it against his head, causing him to loose concious on top of you. You pulled your body from underneath him, eyes wide open when you stared down on him before you started to run for your life. He could wake up, he could come after you, he was quite the tracker. The forest swallowed you, not trying to stay on the path you zigzagged between the trees, in the mud until you were sure you head a little headstart. Blood pounded in the little wound on your head, trees danced before your eyes and you told yourself to take it a little easier. For now you were safe, a heavy men like him you would hear coming so you slided down aside a tree and tried to get some control back in you body. You ran away … not planning to go back soon.

After days you noticed your mistake. Running of without any food or clothes was the worst you could do in that moment. Not that you were starving on that moment, you found some berry’s and a small creek with fresh water. But seeing a bunny hopping by wasn’t much of a solution to your problem if you had nothing to hunt with. So you wandered through the forest, hoping that you would find some shelter, a shed in the woods, another village to regain strenght maybe. But after a two hour walk again you felt hopeless. So sat aside a creeck looking down to your own reflexion when you heared something. You jerked your head up, looking for the sound that looked like some running throught the bushes. Would he have found you? After all those days? Your body stood up, like an automatic pilot you started to run again in the other direction. You really didn’t look before you, eyes got always back over your shoulder hoping it wouldn’t be him. But when you ran on the road you bumbed against something large. The horse startled and you stopped, looking around, panting in fear. There stood two horses on the road, with a woman and a man. A weird looking man and woman. You did nothing except for staring at them. The woman looked to the man before she got from her horse. ‘Why are you running?’ She asked you. Your eyes went back to the forest.
‘There is a man trying to get to me.’ Why you where honest you didn’t know, you just had to get away from here. But honestly, looking to them wasn’t quite that reassuring to. The man still sat on his horse, a very long braid laid over his shoulder, the rest of his head bald. They looked young, the way he looked to her told you that they were in love or something like that.
‘Does he want to hurt you?’
‘Who are you?’ You asked back before you gave them any more information.
‘I’m Lagertha, this is my husband,’ she shooted him a playfull smile.
‘Ragnar.’ He ended her senteces.
‘We are viking, raiding these lands.’ Vikings? Here? You looked around again through the forest, looking for the man or at least a sound of the man but there was nothing.
‘We should get her with us.’ Ragnar said. His eyes traveled over your body and she almost did the same. Talked about a stunning woman, she was that kind. Lagertha throwed her freshly husband a new look, changing words without saying anything.
‘Do you want to come? You look hungry, we could protect you.’ She suggested. You had an option here, staying starving in the woods with him hunting you down or going with two vikings who looked at each other like they could eat each other in parts. So, you nodded and Lagertha stroked a strain out of your face. ‘Come on.’ She said walking back to her horse. She got on it, pulling you after her. You looked to the man again, Ragnar, he smiled to you but oh what was that smile a promesing one.

They fed you, she even washed your clothes and after two days in their camp you started to relax a little. They weren’t always there and if they were they maked loudly sounds in their bed. It wasn’t that you heared that for the first time but it was a lot louder than you were just. When you sat the next day outside poking the fire Lagertha came to you. The men where raiding again and for once she didn’t joined them on the raid.  ‘Why where you running from that man? Was he your husband?’ She asked, crouching down aside you to warm her hands over the fire.
‘No, he was my mothers husband. He mistreated me, hit me a lot, tried other things.’ You answered without looking up. Ragnar and Lagertha where nice to you from the beginning. Althrought Ragnar always looked to you in a certain way, you got used to it.
‘Sorry to hear.’
‘I was just tired, so I ran,’ You felt silent, looking to the scar that runned from your lower arm to your hand. Lagertha stood up, standing behind you while her fingers runned through your hair. You noticed the woman and man all had braids, it was really a matter of time before she would do it with you, she looked at it to often.
‘Do you have a husband?’ She asked, starting to braid your hair carefull.
‘No.’ You never really had anybody.
‘Do you have a lover?’
‘Why are you asking?’ You asked uncertain. She worked your braid until the end before she crouched down aside you again.
‘You are a fine looking girl, I can’t imagine that nobody wants you.’ She smiled in a certain way playfull. Her finger rested under your chin and you looked in her eyes that got some desire. ‘I would want you.’ She bited her lip, like she just said something that she couldn’t say out loud. You supposed it was just that. But what could you say? Nothing really so you only looked in those eyes of her. And like she took is as an inventation she pressed a very soft kiss on your lips. Your eyes closed in a moment before you looked back at her, a smile in misschief surrounded her lips before she stood up and walked away. Did you just … ?

And when he came back earlier on the night he was watching your back while you where making some dinner on the fire. You just felt it, eyes gazing on your body. So you stood up and slowly turned around. ‘My wife wants you.’ He smiled. She wanted you? This was some weird kind of game, what else would it be?
‘You are just married?’ You reacted, trying not to wander your eyes over his chest. He looked down in his cup of ale before drinking it empty. He placed the cup on a wooden log and walked over to you. In reaction you backed down a little. ‘I don’t understand this.’ You pointed around on the situation.
‘She can’t have you.’ He said. Offcourse she couldn’t, she was just married. Meant betrayel nothing for them?  ‘Because I want you.’ That handsome smile creeped on his lips and you jaw dropped in disbelief. She was in the tent, hardly away from the both of you. But here he stood, so close you almost felt his breath. You almost could touch his bare chest.
‘Still don’t understand.’ You whispered a little tensed. He sneaked his arm around your waist and out of reflex you putted your hands against his chest before he could pull you any closer. But seeing those strong arms you knew you never could push him away.
‘It’s a little game.’ He whispered in your ear. You swallowed, not being able to move another inch. And just like she took advantage of you silence he did to. He pressed his lips on yours, pushing his tongue between your teeth you were forced to go in that kind of passion. But he could kiss. You took in a large breath through your noice, opening your lips, tasting him. You really forgot everything around you, even Lagertha.
‘Ragnar.’ She smiled. You felt something on your neck and you startled. She stood right behind you, lips traveling over the back of your neck, down your colorbone.
‘Can we have her both?’ Ragnar asked, like you weren’t even there. His lips were so demanding on you cheek, biting your ear until you felt weak in your knees. He kissed her, while her hand followed the curves of your body. In gods name, what was happening.
‘Come with us Y/n.’ She suggested. He pulled you closer, fingers sliping underneath your shirt and you gasped, feeling his cold fingers roaming your skin. It was a weird kind sensation, he wanted you, she wanted you and they wanted each other.
‘What do you think?’ He asked. You only nodded, not in the right mind to say a thing right now. He smiled to his wife and she smiled back before the both of them took you to there bedroom. This was not really happening.

First time something else than Ivar, liked it! Tasted for more.

my concept for izumi’s daughter

i realized people don’t talk about her that much when we should. she does exists, and i know it may not happen but i really wanted to see her in one of the future comics, that would be soooo cool. she’s iroh’s little sister, zuko’s granddaughter, she deserves something!

i’d love to know more about her, we don’t even have a name. how is she like? her personality and how’s her relationship with her mom and grandpa? we don’t have anything and that sucks

i have some ideas about her history and personality. personaly i think she’s very close to her grandfather - in part cause i love zuko so so so much. and maybe she’s a free-spirited girl who wants to travel and see the world like her grandpa did when he was young. but that’s just my concept

the only thing we “have” is that bryke wanted to pair her with mako. give us more. give us her

anyway i’d LOVE to talk about her with someone, so if you want to please talk to me!!

Rhetorical Ink Reviews: “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”

**SEA-WORTHY SPOILERS AHEAD**

So, to preface this review, I have always been a HUGE Pirates of the Caribbean fan; the first film came out almost 15 YEARS ago (if you can believe it), and my friends and I were hooked on it from the get-go! I know a lot of people have distaste for Dead Man’s Chest and At World’s End, but I honestly am okay with both of these movies.

I’m eventually going to do a video response related to this, but I did not like On Stranger Tides, so I was leery of going into this movie…so, I didn’t spoil myself very much at all with this film. That said, there are things to like about this movie, and a lot I am frustrated with. These are…

MY TOP TEN THOUGHTS ON
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES:

10. I am okay with the start of the film setting up Henry Turner’s character. He’s sweet, inquisitive, and has studied various curses of the sea his whole life. It makes a lot of sense, given his father’s curse to stay away for ten years at a time. His character is determined but kindhearted and the set up of him meeting his father at the beginning sets up his motivation and helps to establish his character…it perhaps doesn’t help that he looks and acts similar to Orlando Bloom SO much, but then again, like father, like son

9. I am also very much on board with Carina’s character set up as well! She is smart, talented, and crafty. I like the angle that she is an astronomer and a woman of science – the idea of pairing her with a man that has grown up surrounded by the supernatural was one that I thought was a great choice. I actually liked her character a bit more than Kiera Knightley’s Elizabeth Swan; I just wish we’d had more development of her in the movie.

8. The villain, Captain Salazar, both worked and didn’t work for me. The CGI hair was something I really didn’t like in the first trailer…it looked like it was almost “unfinished” or something experimental with 3D. However, the CGI did end up growing on me, the designs and sharks are so intricate and interesting. And at times, Salazar’s character makes a lot of sense and works as a revenge story (which I will talk about below).

At times, though, Salazar, played by Javier Borden, is hard to understand…his accent, while being menacing, is also hard to understand in the final battle, which just makes his character seem more odd in those final scenes. Overall, he’s an okay villain, but I felt nearly everything about him was too rushed and not fleshed out, like Davy Jones was for example.

7. Okay, so as I mentioned above, when Salazar is given time to tell his backstory, the flashback works pretty well. I am NOT a fan of the CGI “time travel” face makeup they’ve been apply to actors and actresses (a la Princess Leia, Grand Moth Tarkin, Ego…), but  man, it’s probably at its best here with “young Jack.” The voice doesn’t quite match up, but is it sad that I want movies of “young Jack’s” adventures now? That flashback worked pretty well for me.

6. What doesn’t quite work is the pacing of the story. ESPECIALLY the third act. Once we get to where Carina is leading us to the map, the story rushes SO MUCH. Part of what I like about the other Pirates of the Caribbean films is that the movie takes its time to set up the lore; it goes slowly in creating the mythos around the supernatural that it all leads to a good payoff.

Here? We get the island of the trident, the actual getting of the trident, a final….”battle?”, a death of a character, AND a resolution all in what is basically twenty minutes of a two and a half hour film. Why did they have to rush this? They are obviously setting up for another film, so why not pull a “Dead Man’s Chest” and end with them hitting the island? Then, pick up the next film with Carina, Barbossa, and Jack on the island while poor Henry is stuck with Salazar’s crew…you could set it up, spend a little more time letting us get to know the new characters, and then have a film after this that goes into the mythos more and explores the “possession” of Henry a little more too…I just think they had so much POTENTIAL here and it felt wasted.

5. Jack, at times, is himself and pulls off a good performance. When he’s more serious, it’s like we’re back in the early 2000′s, having a great ol’ time with the Captain…but especially in the beginning, he’s a little “too” Mad Hatter/ Willy Wonka in his performance and just seems….”off.” Maybe the divorce he was going through had something to do with it. It is good to see Gibbs back in this movie; Gibbs is one of those characters that never ages and always is fun to have in these movies…he’s the ultimate side character of the series! Well, almost the ultimate side character. That role mainly belongs to….

4. And yes, we have Barbossa’s character…end. I was a little bummed about that at first, because it’s Barbossa! How could we lose this titular character? And then, I got angry, because of how rushed everything with him was. We are led to believe from the getgo that Carina has “daddy issues” and wants to locate her father; lo and behold, Barbossa lets it slip to Jack that HE is her actual father…it’s a small sea after all!

That wouldn’t have bothered me if it hadn’t been so forced and obvious…Carina even looks a lot like Geoffrey Rush in the eyes. I guess that the relationship ends up okay with me; there’s even a touching moment when she realizes that he’s her father, and I was genuinely on board with it. The “tattoo moment” honestly was sweet, and Geoffrey Rush sells it for me.

But then they just HAVE to kill him off…and I’m going to be honest, Barbossa swinging in on that anchor almost made me laugh out loud…as in a Darth Vader saying “Noooooooo!” laugh out loud. It just looked ridiculous. Points to the film for emotionally investing me later on in that scene with Barbossa and Carina, but you really didn’t “have” to kill him off, especially after he just learned about his only child! Ah well, I think Geoffrey Rush was like Harrison Ford and said, “Please kill me off this franchise!” Which is sad, because he’s been such a great part of it and it’ll lose something without him…

3. Unlike Geoffrey Rush, though, Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightley have BARELY aged…well, Orlando has aged, but we use cool CGI barnacles to mask all that, you know. Still, they are finally reunited at the end of the film, and it did feel good as a fan to see them together again, though again, some more set up for the payoff would have made it sweeter. Damn, Henry, you got some good genes, though.

2. There is so much visually that is great to look at; the “Island of Poseidon” is simply gorgeous and the underwater scene was breathtaking…it’s just all SO rushed that you have no real time to enjoy it. I really wish this had been two films so we could have had more character development, more set up of the plot…it’s so exposition heavy at times that you just end up checking your phone, wondering when the next scene is. And who wants to do that in a Pirates movie?! The sad thing is it’s not as long as other Pirates of the Caribbean films, which makes me wonder all the more why we didn’t just expand more in places and leave more to a later film…maybe I need to do a video to explain my thoughts.

1. Overall, I left the movie conflicted. The 10-years-ago me would have probably loved this movie, because I would have gone home and instantly wanted to write fan fictions about what I just saw. And there’s a large part of me that still wants to do that to add on to what I thought was missing…but still, there is a part of me that wanted this movie to do things more focused, to set things up with more care to lead to a better payoff.

Is this movie better than On Stranger Tides? Yes. Absolutely!

Does it capture the magic of the first or the wild fun of the other two? Not exactly, which perhaps is my biggest problem with it.

If we do end up with more Pirates movies, PLEASE Disney, take your time, craft a fun, adventurous story, and don’t be afraid to take risks…as long as you own them.

“Birds are natural fliers,” Mr. Sannon began, addressing his classroom. “It’s instinctual. They need a jumpstart, mind you, and they’ll pick things up through a natural learning process, but the concept of flight, the ability to adjust pitch and roll, and knowing how hard to flare before they land, or how wide to spread their wings to soar, this comes with the territory of being a bird. When they look upward, they don’t see something empty that exists separate from them. Unreachable. They see a road, and they know, innately, that they possess the tools to travel on that road. It’s a bit like us, reaching out toward objects to manipulate them. That’s something our body knows how to do. If we want to affect our world, we use our hands. The tool fits the task. Instinct.”

The classroom collectively nodded a bit. Those who were paying attention, anyway. Which was most, in this case. Flying was an elective course, and being here required certain physical attributes. Typically, students didn’t go to flight class who weren’t personally vested in the idea. Avian eyes stared eagerly back at him, young and excited. Feathers were fluffed with anticipation. The first day was always exciting. The second day was typically cautious and had half as many students.

“You are not birds.” He said flatly.

The class full of decidedly bird-like students looked sidelong at each other, some with bemusement, others with genuine concern that their professor may have taken leave of his senses. But a few remained still, having discerned the meaning of the statement.

“You are Vectors,” He continued, “Which means, at your core, you are a human dressed up in feathers. That grants you a great deal of instinctual ability, yes, but it is human ability, not bird or cat or dog ability. You didn’t learn to lift things by using your beak or your claws, you used your hands. You didn’t learn to hop and fly when you were little, you learned to crawl and walk.” He skipped over an amendment about infancy bypass education. At least, for the moment. “And I’m going to assume the majority of you don’t have baby pictures of mommy throwing up in your mouths.” He smiled a bit at the chorus of gagging, and chuckled.

“We miss a lot of these obvious cues, thanks to infancy-bypass tanks,” he explained, unable to avoid it further. “I’m betting most of you were putting solid food into your own mouths by the time you actually encountered any. But those of you who did nurse as children instinctively looked for a mammalian chest instead of chewed up bird vomit, which, I assure you, is an entirely un-birdlike thing to do. In short, if you were hoping to leap off a cliff at the end of today’s lesson and take wing under nature’s gentle guidance, I have news for you. At the moment, you have more in common with a rock than a bird, except that you’ll be screaming more on the way down.”

There were chuckles among the students, but they were tempered by the gradual realization that today would be less glamorous than they’d hoped. Sannon took a moment to gauge the reactions. It was easy to pick out the ones who’d never tried to fly, they were generally attentive and agreeable, eager despite the warnings. Unsure yet how cautious they should or shouldn’t be. There was always a group of students who’d had successful glides from playground equipment or rooftops. They tended to lean back in their chairs like they owned the place, confident in their ability and dismissive of the implied danger. He hated that. Parents loved to give their children a taste of flight before these courses to “warm them up,” but all it did was fill them with false security. He’d rather have a blank slate to work with.

Once in a while, there would be one or two in the back with genuine flight experience. Laterals, usually. Illegal at their age, even with their physical condition, but life happens regardless of the convenience of law. It was just a ploy to help sell body sockets anyway, and not everyone could afford one. These children were quiet and distant as they watched, un-involved in the conversations of the other groups. There was none of the posturing here. Despite having the most experience, they were generally the most attentive. Life had not given them the courtesy of doing without their wings, and they had already experienced the fear of that reality. Whatever had driven them to the skies at such a young age, be it anatomy or pressure from some other source, it likely hadn’t left. Half of these students would never try flying again once they came to realize the physical demands, but these few were here to get better at something they couldn’t do without. He had one, today. Lateral raptor of some kind, with a swallowtail. She was perched in the back of the room, waiting, as he spoke.

“We are not well designed for flying,” he continued, speaking over the chatter. “Sorry. It’s a fact. That we can do it at all is pretty impressive; our anatomy isn’t the best for that sort of thing.” he waved a wing limply, which was a little undermined due to the obvious strength in his arms.

“We’re poorly balanced, too heavy, too bulky, and generally not strong enough to do what would be traditionally referred to as regular flying. But with training and discipline, you can get to a point where flying is…” he pondered the word to use. “Reachable. If only for short periods.

“You need to ponder what you’re trying to do, here,” he continued, “understand it in your mind, before you try it. Flying upward to a building top from the ground is the functional equivalent of leaping up a ladder with two hands and no legs, an entire rung at a time instead of alternating, without stopping to rest.” The room dropped its volume level noticeably. Most of them had not considered what the actual physical requirements of a sustained climb were.

“And that’s just getting aloft,” he continued, “then you need to stay there, suspended from that ladder, repeatedly doing chin-ups from the highest rung, until you can find a place to safely drop from rung to rung to the floor, fighting your own weight and momentum, or you fall and die.” The room had silenced now. The inexperienced group were looking nervously back and forth at each other, with lingering glances at arms that had probably barely passed the physical education requirements for their grades. The gliders were slowly realizing that what they’d done before and what they were now facing were substantially different. And there in the back, his veteran. Her breathing had not changed. Her posture had not fallen.

“How…” one of the students asked, “how do you practice something like that?”

Sannon smiled, and looked toward the back.

“It’s Elysium, isn’t it?” he called back to the lateral. She looked surprised to be addressed directly, but nodded. “How do you suggest they practice something like that, Elysium? Is there an easier way? Am I off my mark, here?”

The young kite looked about the room, as if seeking social permission to respond. It was always difficult being singled out. He knew that, and would catch up and apologize later. But they needed to hear it from one of their own. And as he’d expected, her gaze shifted ever so slightly, as he had seen happen in nearly every veteran that had ever graced his classroom on the first day. That realization that these kids were utterly unprepared for what they were facing. The knowledge that if they looked for a shortcut, they would end up broken and battered on the pavement. The need to convey the degree of effort they were facing now.

“Get a ladder.” She responded, and Sannon’s smile widened. He tapped his toggle case, and the closet behind him opened, revealing a rack adorned with rows of long, extending ladders, fully equipped with the grim realization by the classroom that they would, in fact be doing exactly that. He looked back up at the sea of disbelieving stares, and pulled the first ladder off the rack.

“Shall we get started?”

-excerpt from the Full Disclosure lorebook

Hey folks! Fun stuff going on over here with the upcoming lore book. I’d say the text is about 80% written, maybe more, and general assembly has begun. Soon I’ll start working with artists and getting the imagery assembled, and we can move on to funding and publishing! I wanted to give you all a double treat today, so aside from this chapter bumper (each of the corp based chapters in the lore book gets a little slice of life story to help ground you, this one was for MarsCo) Im also going to toss up the in-progress Table of Contents. This isn’t final or finished, but it will give you some hints of things you can expect to see!
