we so spanish

I love how every party I go it plays Gasolina, but now it have a whole new meaning to me

another thing I remembered that’s great about One Day at a Time is how elena and alex both have a different understanding of spanish. Elena who is the older sister barely speaks it and has more difficulty understanding it than Alex. It’s just such a real and important portrayal of a latinx immigrant family. Not to mention, how a lot of latinx living outside of latin america don’t speak spanish and it’s just so important to highlight this and understand how it plays a part in understanding latinx immigrant identity.

Ok but I headcanon Lance knowing several languages mainly because he talks so much but that’s not the point. Just imagine Lance having a really good ear for, and knowing, an unusual amount of languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French etc.), and like, he sings in all of them sometimes here and there when he’s washing Blue or working on chores or fixing his hair or making breakfast and no one really thinks about it because hey they know he speaks Spanish and they don’t pay much attention enough to know that he’s got a list of languages to sing in.

And since languages come easily to him, he just kind of starts picking up Altean and one day he’s talking to Coran or Allura in fluent Altean and the other Paladins are shocked like HOW and it takes him a minute to realize that right he never told anyone that he can speak so many languages and the only one whose not surprised is Hunk because Hunk knew the whole time.

  1. Ah man, the thought of possibly going to UCSD for college. I never dreamed of it and applied on a whim, but yeah, it seems nice now that I got in. I think I will go there. It’s by the ocean and not too far from home. Plus, today I got a pretty neat scholarship from them. Not sure if they give it to all of their students because a friend of mine got it too, but idk. It was a lot of money.
  2. Argentinian Spanish is like… my new favorite thing. (I’m watching this telenovela called ½ Falta - or “Media Falta” - for my class and it’s pretty good for a 2005 show for teenagers. Go watch it on YouTube if you want! It can get a little cheesy, but it does try to bring good messages.)
  3. Egg tarts. Eggs in general.
  4. Loads of art supplies. I don’t care what quality they are; I love them all. Even if I find a ruddy pencil left behind, I love it. Scratch paper? Useful. Who cares if I have 3 unfinished sketchbooks and 50 pens.
  5. All of you guys. You rock, and I mean it. Shout out to @takeabreathandsmile / @chiscribbles4smiles. She is a meadow of flowers and a ball of sunshine.

i think my brain has just given up on french. i’ve been trying to study for a test for the past 2.5 hours and it’s just…i don’t understand. i keep forgetting basic shit, like the difference between a definite and indefinite article. i’m trying to memorize vocab and it’s just leaving my brain as soon as i read/write/say it. and i’ve got to write a composition with it, detailing what i did last 4th of july, using both l’imparfait and passé composé. ugh. i need to make at least a C to move on to intermediate french I, but real talk a C just ain’t gonna cut it with me. i should’ve started studying for this days ago. i’m the w o r s t.

"Brought up in a fully multilingual home, he speaks fluent German, English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and Catalan." :OOOOOOOOOOOOO dude speak SIX languages, FLUENTLY. RIP @me

omfg also he apparently loves talking about languages wtf

“German is a very technical language, a very precise language, which I love, so you can describe things in a very efficient and clear way,” he says, and then switching into a thick French accent, “then you have French which is very passionate blah-blah-blah.”

“Spanish, he says, is also passionate, and he admits that unconsciously he changes his tone and the way he acts when speaking his mother’s language.”

(im dying omg this is real and cute af it’s his mom’s language halp)

“He says that though he understands Portuguese, he could not – yet – feel comfortable taking on a role where he would have to speak it.”

AW LOOK HE HAS A FLAW *points at a minuscule micro-pixel*

“I love Italian as well, and they move their hands big-time,” he says with a laugh.”

“In Colombia, we have a saying. El mal presa a los debiles porque teme a los fuertes.”     “Evil preys on the weak because it fears the strong.”

I don’t understand why some tries to make people feel ashamed of themselves for liking Messi. Just because he is ‘popular’? “But they support NT only for him”. Bitch most Napoli fans supported Argentina against their country because of Maradona. Don’t let me get started. And Messi is breath taking, mind blowing. He deserves the love and the attention he gets. I mean, I wake up happier when I know he is going to play that day. But I am actually lying here tough. I pretend like I love Messi for his talent but even without it, I would still love him so freaking much. It is Leo Messi ,yo. He is like rainbows and candies and everything beautiful in this world. Above all Messi es más argentino que el dulce de leche.

All my Messi fan friends, don’t let anyone make you feel like a bandwagoner. You are doing it right. Leo Messi is the best player and the most amazing human being. Bye.

Okay, but let’s not forget:

  • Carlos getting a brilliant start and hanging onto P6
  • Checo just calmly cruising to P7
  • Felipe making up TEN PLACES to finish in P8 from P18
  • Jenson in the points again in P9
  • Dany setting the fastest lap of the race and finishing in the points in P10
  • Esteban almost in the points in P11 after starting P16
