we should have a tag for them

okay so i have some complaining to do: first of all, what is this post doing in fp jones tag??? it has nothing to do with him. I am super annoyed about people tagging their posts with tags that have nothing to do with the post (so just for attention), and I’ve had to unfollow some tags because of this.

My second point: This shouldn’t be in bughead tag either. I’m not even hardcore bughead shipper but this is the kind of negativity we don’t need when we’re searching posts about our ships! And yeah I get it, bughead shippers can be really passionate about their otp sometimes but guess what? It’s not anyone’s busyness to make fun of them bc everyone should be able to enjoy their ship of choice!!

And my third (the most important) point: The world is so scary. Like fucked up things happen all the time (I literally just read that there was a horrible stabbing incident not far from where I live today). I get scared very easily and if I don’t have something to take my mind off of these things my mental health will end up in a really bad place. So if these people have something - a show, a ship, an actor - that make them feel happy and safe for even awhile, please, let them enjoy it. + every one of us sitting in a dark room and crying about nuclear wars doesn’t save the world, loving and enjoying life is the best we can do.

Also I cropped the blog who posted this out bc I don’t think that’s what matters here. I just wish we could all enjoy this fandom! :)

play a fanart game with me!

hello darlings! I am a terrible artist, but I have jack daniels, some paper, and a set of colored pencils my friend gave me for Christmas, and I’m gonna drunkenly draw my favorite babies and I think all of u should join me!

Anyone want to get drunk and color with me? We can post them with a tag! #drunkfanartchallenge or smthing THAT’S RIGHT I ADDED THE WORD CHALLENGE, IT’S A CHALLENGE NOW

flame decals!

I’m gonna assume, based on all the tweets flooding my tl, that Thomas just hit 2M on YT. It’s cool to see and actually kinda surreal. Cause seeing him climb his way to the top with Vine and now him branching out to YouTube?? It’s just..so crazy to see how far he’s come. Like. Seriously. You guys. From finding him on Vine with 20k to seeing him hit million after million and now 2M on YouTube? It’s just so..wow! And I know Thomas isn’t a numbers guy, which is one of the things I really love about him, but seeing him at this point after all these years just makes my heart swell. And like. All the people he’s helped and inspired in some way shape or form and seeing all of them do the same for each other?? It’s just a beautiful thing. Seriously. I love it and this community so much! And I hope people see that this fandom is a direct reflection of the kind of person Thomas is! I’m rambling. But I just gotta say how super proud I am and how much I love my handsome, talented gay friend! 🌈💜🏳️‍🌈

And I think we all know that Thomas wouldn’t be where he is now without the help from all of his equally, if not more so, talented friends helping him out with all of his videos!! Every single one of them deserve the same amount of love and recognition as Thomas! They’re all amazing and incredible people! 💕

So culture is fluid and changing, so why can’t we see humans adapting to alien culture? We already emmulate others, if not blend it to our traditions, so there should be a mix of alien/human traditions. Humans dress in the style of alien dress because it looks good. Humans adopting alien slang or creative new slang based on alien words. Or learning alien games and try to teach it to other humans. Or learning about alien food, then blend it with human cooking styles (Lomo saltado is Peruvian food cooked Chinese style so it happens) or just really studying alien culture and teaching it to people at home. Not for any academic reason, but because they are super interested. Like when you want to travel to your dream place you study every little bit about, or those culture clubs in schools. Aliens could be flattered, or confused, because Humans who can adapt to any place chose to adapt to their planet.

Positive post

We seem to have forgotten that these communities should be a safe haven, they should be a place where people can come for positivity and positive vibes, with the recent events revolving around Felix we forgot that, so this is a post to remind everyone.

Reblog and tag someone and give a reason why you’re their friend or why you love them.

I’ll start:

@lum1natrix i love you and i’m your friend because you’re always there for me and you make me feel important

Ok but can we leave exo and their stans alone please. I understand that ya’ll want tae to be a Gucci model but don’t go on exo’s tweets about them being models for Gucci and promote taehyung. Not only is it disrespectful but it’s pathetic and ya’ll should be ashamed of yourselves for it. Either be happy for exo or stay out of exo tags or posts and promote tae all you want. And if you can’t even do that, then don’t bash exo bc your fav didn’t get a chance to do what they’re doing. It gives bts a bad name to have their fans bashing a senior group, have some respect

when i was younger i kinda found it embarrassing that i liked older women and i felt kinda defensive about it but now that i’m slightly less young i think it’s actually a part of my Gayness that i think i should appreciate? like, you look at straight men and to them women might as well be fucken dead after 30 or 35. but to lesbians women don’t have an expiration date. the qualities of age that repulse straight men as a sign of women’s experience and maturity are attractive to lesbians because we value women’s experiences.

So You Think You’re Not Racist

Alternate title: “Levels of Racism: Why White Fans and Creators Have a Responsibility to Confront Our Biases”

So here’s a thing I’ve been thinking about for a while. I’m pretty sure it’s nothing new and if anyone knows of resources written by Black people that address this, please send me the info because I definitely want to read them.

(Also if I’ve misstepped or misspoken in any way, please let me know. Criticism is welcome.)

Part of the difficulty of discussing racism, particularly with other white people, is that we don’t actually think about the same thing when we talk about racism. The way I see it, there are three levels:

  1. Individual beliefs and actions that are rooted in racial prejudice
  2. Subconscious racial bias that comes from socialization
  3. Systemic racism enshrined in institutions of power

There are probably more in between, and obviously these aren’t strict black and white categories; there’s a lot of overlap and blurred lines involved. I don’t know if any particular level is worse than the others, and I don’t think I’m qualified to speak on that. But I think these work well as large bucket categories.

The problem is that often people are talking about different levels without actually realizing it. When I try to get my parents to understand why level 2 might lead them to judge Colin Kaepernick’s method of protest unfairly, they respond as if I’ve accused them of level 1 racism. When I tell my coworker that I don’t like the Bruins because the crowd booed PK Subban every time he had the puck, I can tell he’s desperately trying to come up with a reason other than race because he doesn’t want to accuse an entire stadium of people of being level 1 racists, when really the problem is probably a mix of 1 & 2.

And obviously, they’re all bad. They’re all racism and we should fight against all of them. But I think we have to fight against the different levels in different ways, which is why people get frustrated with these conversations.

Hey lesbians

It’s okay that you don’t like guys

It’s okay that you never understood why your friends were ‘boy crazy’ when you were younger

It’s okay if you forced yourself to have crushes on guys or kiss them or have sex with them

It’s okay if the only reason you thought you didn’t get many crushes on guys was because you had ‘high standards’

We live in a world that tells us we should like guys, that we have to, that we can’t be friends with a guy without romantic feelings

It’s o-fucking-kay you don’t have this mandatory interest in guys

Billboard Fan Army Face Off           - NCT 127 - NCTzens!! Reblog this!!

It’s this time of year, guys. NCT 127 is in the Billboard Fan ARMY face off with the big-named artists, along with other big-named KPOP artists like EXO, BTS, Twice, T-ARA, BIGBANG, and more!

Please show our love and support by voting for NCT 127 and your other favorite artists!!

You can vote here. Yes, NCT 127 may or may not win, but it’s great to show them how much we love them! They have done so much for us so we should return the favor, right?

Now, you don’t have to vote for NCT 127. You can vote for your other favorite groups like GOT7, Infinite, Seventeen, and more. I understand that you may favor a group more than NCT 127, and I’m not going to argue because, it’s your preference.

Have fun voting!

I have something to say

I love Dear Evan Hansen with all my heart. I love the fandom a lot less though. Why? The shippers. I don’t know about you, but the show means a lot more to me than the ships. So why are we arguing and putting people down about them. Seriously. Is Dear Evan Hansen not about acceptance and understanding those around us? The least we can do as a fandom is put down our petty issues and just get along.

Sure maybe you don’t like a ship, that’s fine no one should forcing you to! Maybe you don’t like a character, that’s also okay! But is it not a little pathetic that this fandom is warding off people because of the shipping discourse? Yes, I have my notps, but I’m not openly complaining about them and sticking them in the tags WHILE putting people down. That’s not cool.

It doesn’t matter if you ship Kleinsen, Tree Bros, Connman, Sincerely Three, Zoe and Evan, Zoe and Jared, Galaxy Girls (zolana) or any other ship, there are way better things to discuss and debate other than ships.

You are welcome to complain about them, really it’s your opinion! BUT can we please avoid discourse and not tag anti stuff in ship or main tags? Not to mention avoid insulting shippers?

For example!
Instead of Tree Bros write Tr*e Bros.
Instead of Kleinsen write Kle*nsen
Instead of Zolana write Z*lana

Because no matter how much you hate a ship, is it really worth scaring new fans away? Or starting discourse? No, it isn’t.

Can we please just take a step back and actually realize how little shipping actually matters in comparison to the show? Please feel free to message me or add onto here. I just want the shipping discourse to stop.

MY TOP 10 OTPS

Thank you @thatsarcasticnerd for tagging me

OOKAY lets do this. I have multiple ships from some series so I’ll just keep it at 1 ship per series I mention. I should also put out that this is in no particular order cause I’m too lazy to put them in order so…. here we go!

anonymous asked:

Can I ask whats wrong with genderbends aka why youre uncomfortale with them?

Back when I first joined tumblr in 2012, genderbends were really popular. They were all over the place and in every single fandom. There were edits and art and faceclaims. And then, people in the trans community started speaking up. Initially, there was some backlash, but in general, the amount of genderbends decreased greatly. (It should be noted that this is my experience and my dash, this could be different for other people)

Going off of that, while this isn’t just a Me Problem, I’m in no way calling anyone out for this. It’s something that’s made me highly uncomfortable for like a year now and it’s not even just this fandom where I ask people to tag them.

Now that we have backstory: Why Genderbends Are Bad:

They’re transphobic and cissexist, erase nonbinary genders, and very often fall into stereotypes.

Let’s go through this point by point.

  • The transphobia and cissexism part

Genderbends assign body parts to a single gender.

While people might argue that that’s not necessarily the case, I have never seen a piece where genderbend was not equal to cisswap. To genderbend a boy character, he’s given breasts and a vagina. To genderbend a girl, she gets a flat chest and penis.

That assignment of breasts and vagina = female, penis = male is incredible transphobic. Genderbending assumes your genitals and body parts determine your gender

Genderbending also assumes that all characters are cis by default. Which is cissexist because often times, characters aren’t given a canon gender identity. This assumption is cissexist and removes the possibility of a character’s gender being anything other than cis.

  • The erasure part

Genderbending implies that there is only two genders, male and female.

In genderbends, there’s no room for nonbinary characters. Genderbending makes the character the “opposite gender” but there’s no such thing as the “opposite gender”. Men and women aren’t complete opposites, they’re just two gender identities on a very large spectrum.

By flipping characters between the two binary genders, you erase the possibility that the characters could be nonbinary. You give no space for those characters to exist and somewhat assign people who are nonbinary as “others” who aren’t included.

  • The stereotype part

Genderbending is often done in a “what if this character were a boy/girl instead?” way, which often lends itself to stereotypes.

Characters genderbent to be girls often have longer hair and wear more feminine clothing. It’s the same for characters genderbent into boys who have short hair. The sexualization of characterization of characters genderbent to be girls should also taken into account, although it’s not always the case.

And there’s also sometimes the implication that a character being a different gender will drastically change who they are as people which is just not true and transphobic.

Lastly, genderbending makes many people who identify as trans and nonbinary uncomfortable.

If you’re cis, you don’t really get to have a say in what is or isn’t transphobic. If someone tells you that genderbends make them uncomfortable, there’s probably a reason. Instead of genderbending, there is always the option of trans headcanons, which are wonderful when done respectfully and are also not erasing, dehumanizing, and hurting an entire community.

Here are some other good posts on this, because I certainly could’ve written this better:

How to Not Be a Shitty Customer

1. Understand that we’ve been on our feet all day and probably dealing with shitty customers and bullies since we clocked in. Most of us as students trying to make extra money, and we’re stressed enough as it is without shitty customers making us feel like we fell out of a dog’s ass.

2. Say hello. We’re not servants. We’re people, and we like to be respected. Don’t just throw your shit on the counter and expect complete servitude.

3. Don’t come to us when you’re talking on the phone. That’s the height of rudeness.

4. If you’ve made a reservation or a booking, don’t tell me your phone died, or you lost the letter or email, or give some other excuse which is going to make it impossible to complete your order. If we sent you information on your order, write it down.

5. If you want to complain, do not complain to the person on the till/shop floor/bar/tables. 99% of the time, the fuck-up was caused by a failed delivery, a system error, a stock error or a similar diablos ex machina in the narrative that is retail, and we can’t do anything about it.

6. If we DO fuck up, and it’s easily fixed, LET US FIX IT. Don’t start insulting someone because we forgot one item or some other asinine bullshit that can be fixed in a few minutes.

7. Don’t ask for the manager. Ever. Unless I’m being rude or offensive, don’t ask for the manager. This is peak dickhead behaviour. You ESPECIALLY do not ask for the manager if YOU were being difficult or rude in the first place and I was reacting in my defence (i.e., not letting you walk all over me), or if I’m not performing my job to “your standard”.

8a. If you’re a customer at an establishment where leaving a tip is optional, leave a tip.

8b. If the employee tells you we can’t accept tips, don’t try and force a tip on us. It will fuck up our till and the manager will shout at us because it will be assumed that we stole from the customer, or we didn’t give a customer the right change.

9. Not everyone who works here is fully 100% trained. People come and go every few months in retail and we’re not all at the same level of training. So don’t get pissed off when the new guy doesn’t come zooming out of the stock room with your 11-item order and twelve coupons.

10. If I’m on my break, I’m on my break. End of discussion.

11. We’re only going to be well-mannered if you are. You’re not above us.

12. And on that note, you’re not above other customers as well. There’s a line for a reason. Wait in it.

13. And if you see me on the shop floor and ask me to put through an order for you because you don’t want to wait in the line, you’re the worst.

14. Don’t try to “bond” with me by making fun of other customers I’ve been serving.

15. Don’t say “I can see the item behind you!” if I tell you we have zero in stock. There’s so many different reasons why we might not be able to sell it, including reservations, stock adjustments, recalls, display, or just because the item is unavailable for sale until a certain date.

16. If I say we can’t do something, we can’t do it. No amount of harassing me or my manager will do anything to change that.

17. Complaining that you’ve been waiting for a long time in the store won’t change anything either. We’re busy, we’re working hard, and we’re trying our best to get you in and out of the store as fast as we can.

18. If you snitch on one of my coworkers, I literally won’t give a shit. We’re all together, even the people who hate each other.

19. You have to wait. It’s part of shopping. You wait in line, you wait your turn, you wait for your card to be accepted, you wait for your change, you wait for your item being scanned, you wait for your food/drink/item being brought out, and you wait when I have to walk across the store to help you. Don’t be rude when your order isn’t complete within seconds because it’s entirely unfeasible.

20. Don’t be sleazy to my female coworkers. They’re not interested in you, and they weren’t interested in the five married men who hit on them before you.

21. If it’s out of stock, it’s out of stock. If the store allows you to order in, we can order it in. If the store makes it available for delivery, we can have it delivered. But nothing we can do will make your item appear in the store for you to take home right now, so don’t be difficult.

22. Don’t come in as soon as the store opens or as the store is closing. Honestly. Every single person in the store hates you. We’re exhausted, we aren’t getting paid for the extra minutes we have to serve you, and we want to go home. This is the biggest dick move you can pull as a customer, apart from screaming and asking for the manager.

23. Don’t be rude when we suggest a store card/special offer/product insurance policy. We have to offer this to everyone or we get yelled at. Just wait until we’re done talking so our managers can hear that we’re offering it, then politely decline. We don’t want to sell overpriced shit that will get you into debt, and we know you don’t want it, but managers still force our hand.

24. “If it doesn’t scan that means I get it for free hahaha” We have heard this joke literally more times than we can count so please stop.

25. “It says it’s cheaper on the shelf over there.” Okay, BUT - the tills reflect the current price of the item, and customers LITERALLY come in and switch price tags around so they can cause trouble and get shit for cheaper than they should, which gets US into trouble because our tills don’t have the right amount in them. If there’s an offer or a deal on at the time of purchase and we haven’t changed the price tags, then by all means let us know. But if there’s an obviously easily removed price tag on an item and you’re trying to get it for cheaper, chances are, you’re not getting it for that price.

26. Don’t come into the store with 50 gift vouchers or coupons and don’t try and use some complicated wireless payment if we don’t accept it.

27. I personally work in a store with over 20,000 items in stock. It’s basically a warehouse with tills. I don’t know jack shit about anything we sell other than games and computers. So don’t shout at me when I don’t know if the snooker table you’ve ordered is collapsable or not. No, I shouldn’t “have to know this stuff” because it’s literally impossible for any human being to know the specifics of thousands of products.

28. Clean up after yourself. Don’t leave milkshake cups and crumbs all over the store, because the people who have to clean that shit is US, and it’s NOT in our job description, but we’re made to do it anyway.

29. Don’t shop while you’re drunk or high. I shouldn’t even have to say this but for fuck sake it needs to be said, apparently.

30. Don’t vape in my face when I’m serving you. I have an e-cigarette too, which I use heavily because I’m so stressed out from working in fucking retail, and if I can wait five hours for my break to use it, you can wait five minutes to use yours.

31. I’m so sorry because this one is total bullshit but please don’t bring your dog into the store if you can. WE get shouted at because our managers are the ones who don’t want them in the store, and WE are the ones expected to be total dicks to dog owners.

32. Don’t complain to me if someone brought a crying baby into the store. Don’t complain to them either. Babies cry. That’s what they do. They cry when they’re hungry, tired, sick, dirty or scared. And babies scare easily. It’s not easy being a parent of a baby so cut them slack and don’t cause a damn scene over it.

33. This goes for disabled customers, customers who use mobility scooters, and senior customers with walking canes or Zimmer frames. They’ll take as long as they need and you wait your damn turn. This should go without saying too, but I’ve had customers complain to ME about how we’re “too slow” because the customer before them was using a mobility/support device of some kind. That’s none of your fucking business and it’s NOT something you have the right to complain about.

34. If you’re shopping in a store with displays that are easily messed up (like clothes), don’t just mess it up and leave it there. If you’re taking a shirt out, fold it at least SOMEWHAT neatly before you put it back. And if you can’t, let us know so we can keep the place tidy.

35. Stop giving prank names to baristas. They don’t give a shit. None of us give a shit. It’s not funny.

36. Bring your cups/trays back to the counter/disposal area otherwise mama didn’t raise you right.

37. If your coupon is expired. It’s expired. We can’t turn back time.

38. Nor can we teleport, so if your coupon’s at home, there’s nothing we can do about that either.

39. You need to understand that employees in retail get monitored on everything we do, INCLUDING how much money is in our till compared to the price of every item we sell through that till. So no, we can’t just “knock” 10% off for your inconvenience in the store, we can’t “take the price of the coupon off” because you left it at home, we can’t “just give you” a refund without a receipt even though you “swear you bought it here”, and we can’t “just change the price” of an item because you “think it’s too expensive”. If the store does price matches against similar stores, or if the store has a price promise for items reserved at a cheaper price, then yes, we will change the price for you. But don’t kick up a fuss because you think iPhone chargers are overpriced. They totally are. But that’s not in my control.

40. No, I don’t want the 99.

41. Don’t talk to us like we’re robots. “Good morning. I would like to purchase two items today please.” No offense but what the fuck is that? Why do people talk like this to cashiers? “Hey what’s up, can I buy this book and a stapler?” is totally fine. In fact, it’s preferred. Talk to us like you’d talk to literally any other human being on the planet.

42.. The customer isn’t “always right” and I wanna fight the fucker that came up with this ridiculous egotistical mantra.

anonymous asked:

Apparently there's already some controversy regarding the new Sleepless Night video. Any thoughts? Do you think it's appropriate for others to speculate this video as a staged attempt at damage control (for Dan's liveshow I'm assuming)? Or is this getting out of hand and considered a breach in their privacy if this actually is a boundary they're trying to reestablish through the video?

here are my thoughts in summary:

1. it’s not a stretch by any means to imagine phil made this video as a response to the things that were spotted in dan’s live show. maybe not, it’s impossible for us to know, but it’s not unreasonable to think that, because a lot of the speculation was happening in their main tumblr tags and their twitter mentions, and we know they regularly check all of those.

2. if he did in fact make this video as a response to all of the theorizing then it does seem like they would like their sleeping situation and bedroom situation to remain ambiguous on face. that’s not anything new, that’s the way things have always been. what it does do, at least for me, is raise questions about whether the things dan let us see last tuesday weren’t meant to be seen. perhaps he truly made a mistake, and if that makes anyone feel anything but sad on their behalf idk what to tell you. dnp are fully at liberty to go to whatever lengths they need to maintain their privacy and protect what is important to them. i don’t view any amount of ‘staging’ or stretching of truths as being insincere or inauthentic when the objective is self-preservation and protection.

3. there is nothing wrong with speculating about phil’s reasoning in making this video. we’re people who watch phil and are utilizing the information he has given us and the information dan gave us last week to come to certain conclusions or at least discuss possible explanations for their behavior. that’s not immoral or invasive. it’s just discussion, it’s what keeps fandom going, it’s what keeps dnp in a job.

4. in fact i’d go so far as to say that all of the posts today about how dramatic and invasive the fandom is are a little unnecessary and over the top. there’s nothing new about people discussing dnp’s sleeping situation. bedgate has been a tag on my blog for months. it’s been a conversation over and over and over again since dnp have lived together. there was the tour bus last year, the australia ditl, the japan ditl the year before. phil himself weighed in on that last one. it’s a never-ending conversation (to the point that it’s almost boring lol). in the case of this week’s bedroom conversations, people were reacting to dan himself showing us things in his live show. it’s not like anyone was discussing information that was found through illicit means, nobody that i saw was empowering anyone to do anything shady. they were talking about things that were put out into the public by dan himself, whether mistakenly or intentionally. i think it’s unrealistic to expect everyone to pretend like they just didn’t see what dan let all of us see repeatedly? insofar as people’s discussions don’t dig up information that dnp have hidden or don’t want known, i don’t see how any of it is in any way invasive. like, idk. respect each other enough to realize that most ppl here have dnp’s best intentions in mind and that all of us to one degree or another spend a chunk of our lives thinking/speculating about what they’re up to. there’s litro no point in accusing a whole fandom that’s hundreds of thousands of people strong of partaking in toxic behaviors when the base logic there is that any discussion of their personal lives is an overstep and an intrusion. that’s just an untenable position,, it makes all of us guilty merely for having a passing curiosity about dnp’s real lives. instead of the accusatory posts and the anger, the ‘omg 2012 again!’ and the easy use of words like ‘toxic’ ‘disgusting’ etc., if you see someone doing some shit you think is out of line, just message them. tell them to untag things you think are breaching boundaries, have some conversations. i’ve done this like 10 times just in the last week. it has always worked. try it! ppl generally aren’t trying to make dnp feel pressured, not trying to force them to come out or any of these awful things. they may just not connect their own actions to these consequences, they might be ignorant of how dnp interact with tumblr, etc. etc.

5. all of this talk about the fandom’s invasiveness, in my opinion, undermines dnp’s power and control over these situations. no matter how much speculation fans and viewers partake in, dnp are ultimately the ones who have control over how they present themselves and no amount of talking on our blogs or yelling in caps lock on twitter takes that power away from them. they have the upper hand.

6. that doesn’t mean people should have free rein of course or that invasiveness in this fandom doesn’t exist. i just mean that i haven’t seen it much in this particular week, about this particular issue. but if this is a case of dan having made some mistakes or phandom being a lot more observant than he banked on, then dnp have a right to try and reset the narrative, as i stated above. a lot of the posts people have been making have been about how people shouldn’t talk about the bedrooms anymore, especially in the main tags, youtube comments, direct twitter mentions, etc. i agree with this. people can and will do what they want, ultimately, and as i said before dnp innately have the power in this situation, but i believe that to respect them as human beings is to respect the expectations that they directly or indirectly set for us. i believe phil’s video was a way of directly reinforcing that he would like to present their situation in this specific light, and if we respect him, then we respect that narrative. there should be nothing satisfying in catching them out in a “lie” because they’re not trying to fool us. they don’t take pleasure in misleading us. they’re just protecting themselves, protecting their privacy, protecting their ability to live freely and to separate their personal lives from their work, and i don’t know how anyone could argue that they don’t deserve to have that.

…y'all trans women being in healthy, happy relationships with cis men in narratives that don’t focus around them being trans are radical in terms of representation in media. we’re living in a world where cis men joke about it being a fear of theirs to find out that a women they’ve been seeing is trans. trans women get killed by cis men for existing. barry & lup’s relationship is an important moment in representation. please please consider that.
