Part I

You have been in love with Jeongguk since freshmen year of college, but you never had the courage to confront him about your feelings. A new girl pushes you to admit to him finally what you both were waiting for.

You didn’t choose to be friends with Jeongguk, we just became friends. We met when we were young. He was a new freshmen in college and very active. You were the quiet girl who just wanted her degree in business so you could finally escape from my parents who constantly breathed down your neck. You had friends but none of them compared to Jeongguk. You became friends when the teacher had decided to partner you two up for a project.

“Hey, I’m Jeongguk”.

Those words will forever haunt you to the fact that you can never have him. He will always be the boy that you loved so deeply but could never have. Jeongguk was the light of your life, simple enough. He brought you favorite popcorn when you was feeling down, when you was on your periods,he would become the most patient man on earth.

He never complained when you would talk for hours on hours about the cute guys in your accounting class. He would smile at you and pat you on the head and say,

“You’re too good for them anyways. You’re too smart for them, all they understand is how to crunch numbers. You are both naturally blessed with looks and intelligence”

You would always blush at his compliments. People would call him awkward and silent with no emotion. He would compliment you with the straightest face. People didn’t know how to respond to him because they thought he was making fun of them. It was just that Jeongguk meant every word he said. He wanted you to know that he was honest and truthful.

Jeongguk never realized what you had felt for him. It wasn’t his fault. You never confessed to him because you didn’t think it was worth it. You had some boyfriends here and there, but none of them were serious because you were forever waiting on him. He didn’t know, he just thought you didn’t really love anyone of them. It wasn’t until your senior year of college where you finally gathered up the courage to admit to him what you have been feeling for the past four years.

“Hey, where were you at the party?” Jeongguk slid into the seat besides you in the library, He was decked out in his signature black stussy sweatshirt with some skinny jeans that seemed to make him ten times more attractive. He started to stroke your hair. Jeongguk had a thing with hair. Yours was mid length and dyed a soft light brown, you kept it soft for him. Because he liked it.

“I didn’t go. Jongsuk didn’t want to go so I stayed back with him to help him study” You turned towards him, away from your economics textbooks and placed your head in your hands.

“Ah, always helping the new student. You are just too nice Y/N,” Jeongguk quirked his head and smiled at you. He was just too cute. It was the time in between your classes. You were about to graduate, just one more semester to go and you were finally done with the education system.

“Nah, I’m not nice. I just felt pity for him because he didn’t know what we did in class”

Jeongguk started to pick at your pens and pencils, “You should have gone to the party. It was so much more exciting but some new incoming freshmen came and crashed it. But the best thing about it is I met someone.”

“You met a girl? Who? It’s been a while.”

You tried to mask the look of surprise on your face. Jeongguk hasn’t dated any girls in a while. He had dated a girl named Wendy a while back ago but he broke up with her because he didn’t think they had fit together. Jeongguk was a true romantic, he loved to hold hands and spend hours reading at a cafe with his girlfriend. That’s what you loved about him, he loved the simple things. He had said Wendy was an amazing girl but he just didn’t think they were good together. When he was dating Wendy, you had to deal with in love Jeongguk, he was gone.

When Jeongguk had a new girlfriend, he would disappear from your life. He would put all his attention and love into the new girl and it would be like you never existed. He wasn’t ignoring you on purpose, he just wanted to spend time with girlfriend. This really hurt you. You felt like you were a throwaway, only needed when he was free of a romantic partner. People knew you guys were best friends, they knew that you guys had perfect chemistry. They didn’t understand why Jeongguk didn’t make a move. Many guys have tried but you wanted to wait for him. You had boyfriends but they never made it to your heart. You dabbled in romance when Jeongguk had a new girlfriend. You felt lonely and wanted some attention, the attention that Jeongguk was not giving you.

Jeongguk had a little smile on his face and he shyly looked down, “She’s a sophomore. She loves to dance and she’s really talented at the violin. I met her at the party and we just hit it off. I think I really like her. I know we just met but I feel like we connect so well.” He had the starry look in his eyes, the kind he gets when he talks about Overwatch and Justin Bieber.

You stopped fiddling with your pen and looked at him, “Wow, I guess it’s time for you to move onto the next girl. What happened to your promise of waiting till you graduated?” You tried to mask the hurt in your voice. Jeongguk had a real chance of falling in love with someone that wasn’t you.

“I was, but man Jennie is a work of art. I never met anyone like her, she brings out sides of me that I never knew existed. We had talked about random things but it was the most interesting conversation I ever had. She’s so beautiful,”Jeongguk swiveled in his chair, his body opposite of what it should have been if he was sitting. He leaned back against the desk, and brushed his hand through his hair. His hair was a startling black color. He never dyed it because he thought that it would make him seem more like a girl.

You knew who Jennie was. She was a transfer student from Gwangju. You guys had some mutual friends, you never formally met her. It was an understatement to say that she was an amazing and one of a kind. Jennie made guy friends after guy friends, she never dated anyone since she had transferred this year. She was an up and coming dancer in our dance team. Hoseok, the dance captain and your closest friend after Jeongguk and Jisoo, had complimented her on her fluidity and techniques.  He had also said that she was pretty but not his type. Hoseok had a specific type, he liked the smart and caring ones. It wasn’t that Jennie wasn’t smart or caring, it was because he thought that Jennie was a little superficial. Apparently Jeongguk didn’t think the same.

“Oh. Good for you” You didn’t know what to say. Your heart was slowly tearing at itself. Why couldn’t Jeongguk look at you and think of you like he did with Jennie? What made you so unappealing to him. You guys have been friends for four years, and never did he once show a sign that he was attractive to you in the point of more than friends. You would flirt with him but he would just smile at you and go back to what he was doing. It wasn’t like you didn’t try. You didn’t know how to approach him with the topic that you wanted to be more than friends.

Jeongguk turned his head towards you, “It isn’t great? I’m taking her out on a date later. I need advice on what to wear. So get out of the library and let’s get back to the apartment and plan what to wear.” It was also quaint that you guys were roommates because you wanted to get out of the dorms and finally get a place of your own but you were too poor to afford it yourself.

You found yourself being dragged out of the library, his hands linked in between yours, with your things haphazardly shoved into your open tote bag and onto the streets. Jeongguk happily took the lead to the short walk to your apartment complex. He seemed to be bouncing on the soles of his feet. His hands still linked with yours. It was normal for you two to hold hands. He had started this habit because you always got lost in crowds when you guys hit Myeongdong for shopping. You felt like he does it now because he liked to torture you with a little sliver of a romantic relationship with him.

“Hurry up, the date starts in an hour”, Jeongguk basically shoved you up the stairs in barely contained excitement and into his room. You didn’t want to help him with his date. In fact you wanted to give him a reason to cancel the date, you. But he would never do that because he didn’t like you. You had to be his friend and just his friend.

He started to pilfer through his closest that was ironically filled with white t shirts.

“I guess I would go with casual but a little dressed up,” you pushed him aside because he was actually hopeless. Your chest hurt every time you touched the clothes hangers that held his clothes. You chose a white button down with a mandarin collar with some jeans. He would look great. This was going to be a long night of you eating ice cream and watching some movies to pass the empty time. Why does Jennie have to exist?

“You are the Sun to my Earth. Thank you so much. This is why I still need my mother and you, of course.” Jeongguk quickly grabbed his clothes and rushed into the conjoining bathroom.

You plop down on his bed. His room wasn’t especially big but it wasn’t small. You had an identical room, with connected bathrooms. You looked up onto the ceiling and saw stars. Jeongguk always love what stars represented. To him, stars represented hope and ambition. He saw them as the push to his success.

Jeongguk slammed the door open, all dressed in his outfit ready for his date, “Is this alright?” as he fixed his collar. He looked so handsome and so Jennie’s.

You motioned for him to come over to the bed and you sat up. He stood right in front of you, still fixing his clothes. You laughed at him, he had skipped a button,

“Aish you dummy, you missed a button, no one it looks weird,” You went in to fix it, your nimble fingers skipped over the soft material. It would be so nice to just push him onto the bed and snuggle. He stared down at you as you slowly fixed his error. You looked up at him, into his starry eyes. He sent you a smile and continued to stare.

The tension in the room began to heat up. Your eyes seem to drill holes in one others. Your fingers stopped it’s administrations. You opened your mouth to say something.

Is it just me or do others have people leaving their lives really quickly too? I've never had a long term relationship, I don't have a Best best friend... people seem to go, always

everything in life is impermanent. especially people.
it could be that you’re changing and growing out of relationships and friendships which is common. as we change, so do the people in our lives.
as we learn what we will and won’t accept, old space falls away and becomes new and receptive to whatever/whoever you allow in.

i used to get sad a lot because i would invest so much emotionally into people and then i would find myself realizing that we didn’t belong in each other’s lives like that when we started growing apart. but the more that happened and the further we both grew afterwards, the better i felt about knowing that it’s better to have shared moments with that person and gotten to know them than to never have known them at all.
we can’t really hold on to people “forever” like we think we can.
so when someone comes into your life and they are willing to stick around, cherish them. cherish every moment.

“It was no secret the way that we feel”

“A love that’s so pure, a love that’s so real”

“You showed me your world and it felt like a sign”

[You’ve shown me all kinds of amazing stuff, I never knew existed. I just wanted to pay you back. Show you something amazing, here on Earth.]

“But you acted too slow and you ran out of time”

“I didn’t mean to hurt you”

“You didn’t have a clue”

“So you went out and got busy”

“And found somebody new”

“And now we’ll be just friends”

[What are friends for?]

“We will be just friends”

[You’re the best friend a guy could have.]

“I grew up in a poor neighborhood on the north side of the city. There was a lot of violence. But I didn’t feel the color of my skin very much back then. Even the whites in my neighborhood were poor. We all lived in the same way and everyone seemed equal. My mother always encouraged me to study hard so I could leave the neighborhood. She worked as a maid for a rich family, and she wanted me to live a life like theirs. Eventually I graduated college, got a good job, and moved to a wealthier neighborhood in the south part of the city. I do feel safer— just like I imagined. But I never expected to feel so unwelcome. It can be hard to make friends. I’ve been called names. I’m made to feel the color of my skin more than I ever did growing up.”

(Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

I hate to know that the only way for me to see you smile is to pretend that we’re just lovely friends who don’t feel anymore than our friendship. That I wasn’t someone who could give you and make you feel everything you ever wanted. It’s the fact that I was a single star hoping for you to notice—among the brightest ones in your galaxy. That we wouldn’t be able to create one single spark once we collide. It’s not sad knowing—that the only way for me to love you—is to let you go—to stay away from you. And for me to feel this thing freely I need to be out of your sight. It’s not sad. It is something that was more than that. It was something that made me search for words that weren’t enough.

Okay, so, I'd love to read a little something by you set in a world where Lavender made it out of the Battle of Hogwarts. Maybe not okay, but alive?

Once upon a time, Lavender had wanted everyone to look at her. She had been the kind of kid who put on dramatic plays for her stuffed animals, for any visitors to the house, and for any neighbor or passersby she could snag from the front yard.

Dating Ron in sixth year had been fun, most of all because everyone had kept sneaking glances at her. She had heard her name in curious whispers and she had grinned and giggled into Parvati’s shoulder.

Everyone was looking now, or pretending not to. She heard the whispers– oh it’s that poor Brown girl. Can you imagine, if it was your daughter, if it was you? Oh and she was so pretty before, too–what a pity–almost makes it worse, doesn’t it?

“You know Professor Lupin was a werewolf?” Hermione said, ten minutes into a very awkward lunch she had asked for in an equally awkward letter.

Lavender pushed a sauteed carrot through a little puddle of pasta sauce. “I think everyone heard about that one. Someone told the papers, or something, right?”

“Er, yes,” said Hermione. “Snape did. Which is what I– I mean, it’s related. Oh, I wish you’d gotten to talk to Remus about this. He was a lovely man.”

“Not as lovely as Lockhart,” Lavender said and she and Hermione spent a moment in wistful remembrance. “God, I feel old,” Lavender said.

“Anyway, Snape,” said Hermione. “Snape and Lupin. When Lupin was at school, Snape would make him a potion that would… tame him, on full moons. He could just curl up in his office and sleep by the fire. If you’re interested, I’m trying to learn how to brew it myself.”

Lavender shook her head. “We’re not friends,” she said. “Never have been. So why are you doing all this?”

Hermione looked like she was trying to say “we’re friends,” but she couldn’t get it out. “I was there, once, when Lupin turned without the potion. I was so scared. I thought we were going to die.”

“Afraid I’ll sniff you out on a dark night?” Lavender said, face twisting as she sank back into her wicker chair.

“No, I–” Hermione squeezed her eyes shut, and all the hesitation was making Lavender more and more uncomfortable. Even at eleven, Hermione had bulldozed through things. She didn’t waver. “I was so scared, but I think it was even worse for him. It hurt, but he looked so scared, too, I–”

“I know how it feels,” said Lavender, very quietly, and Hermione snapped her mouth shut. Lavender took a big sip from her tea. It was still steaming– it had not taken long to exhaust small talk, between the two of them.

Hermione cleared her throat and tried again. “I’m trying to do the right thing. I’m trying to make amends. I’m trying to– make things better. Do you want this?”

Lavender put her mug back down, shaking out scalded fingers, and said, “Yes.” Then, because her mother had raised her right, she said, “Thank you.”

“That sounds like a weird conversation,” said Parvati, whose door Lavender went and knocked on after she and Hermione had split the bill with the precise-to-the-Knut math of the vaguely acquainted and recently employed.

Lavender kicked through the fall of autumn leaves that had collected in front of the porch swing. “She was trying to be nice, I think.”

“She’s not very good at it,” said Parvati.

-

Her father wept. He tried not to but he was a crier, always had been.

“You were so brave,” said Lavender’s mother, cupping her cheeks in her warm hands and not even flinching at the scar tissue under her palms. “We are so proud.”

Lavender’s mother was a Muggleborn, daughter of a math teacher and a door-to-door salesman (“now there is a profession that requires some magic,” her grandfather used to tell her).

Her father was a wizard and he was trying hard not to cry, bending down to pet the dogs weaving between all their ankles. Lavender bent down, too, scratching behind Fiddlestick’s floppy ears while Mopsy cleaned her cheek forcefully. “Hey,” she said, and her father looked up, trying to firm his wobbly chin.

“You know I’m proud of you, too,” he said, trying not to tremble on it. “I just…” He reached out to squeeze her knee gently. “You did everything right. You did everything good. I’m so proud of you, chickadee.”

“I know,” she said, and she did. He was a Gryffindor, too.

-

It took Hermione more than a month to figure out the potion sufficiently well enough that she’d let Lavender try it. She was founding a non-profit for nonhuman rights, too, after all, as well as doing a fair few local speaking gigs, petitioning the Wizenagamot on a half dozen issues, getting an advanced degree, and supposedly, at some point, sleeping.

It took more than a month, so Lavender spent another night locked in her parents’ newly fortified cellar. She didn’t remember much, but she woke up with her throat sore and her nails ragged. The door was gouged from the inside. She wondered if she had been screaming. She wondered if that’s what the howls were. She felt like screaming, maybe, a little.

The door cracked open the moment the moon had dropped down below the horizon, outside. Her mother came in with a tray of her favorite breakfast foods– danishes and boiled eggs, steaming hot cocoa with the barest splash of bitter coffee in it.

Parvati came stomping down the stairs after her. “Graceful,” said Lavender. She winced at the roughness of her voice.

“Look who’s talking,” said Parvati. “Up, c'mon, eat your breakfast. We’re doing midnight manicures. Your dad says he’ll let us doll up his nails, too.”

The next full moon night, Lavender locked herself in the cellar again. “It should be safe,” Hermione had said. “It should. I mean, I’ve done all the tests. I followed all the instructions. It should work.”

Lavender didn’t remember, because she never remembered– she didn’t recall the cellar door unlocking and opening after ten minutes of post-moonrise silence. She didn’t recall Parvati Wingardium Leviosa-ing a comfy chair down the stairs, or her sitting down and pulling out a stack of Witch Weeklys, nor did she remember curling up on Parvati’s fuzzy button slippers and going to sleep.

But she did remember waking up in the morning, her cheek pressed into a soft pillow. She was tattered under a thick blanket, but she was human and looking upward at Parvati’s slack, sleeping face. Her dark plaits tumbled, curling, over the soft pink polka dots of her pajamas.

Lavender pulled herself up to sitting, stole the open Witch Weekly, and waited for Parvati to wake up.

-

“You’re going to be alright,” Professor Trelawney said and she wasn’t even looking at Lavender’s palm, just holding her hand tight in her cold fingers. “You’re going to be happy. You’re going to be fine. People are going to love you and stand by you and we will be there.”

The tower room was just the same as Lavender remembered it, down to the spicy-sweet tea and Trelawney’s big blinking eyes. Lavender squeezed her hands back. “I love you, too, professor.”

“You know, I think you can call me Sybil. It seems the time for it.”

Dean and Seamas’s housewarming for their ugly little first flat was a crowded mess, but the afterparty wasn’t. Lavender and Parvati came by with paint swatches, opinions, and hangover remedies. They ate greasy Chinese food on the floor, because it was about as comfortable as the couch.

They came back the next week, and the next. Parvati conjured a crackling fire in a big fruit bowl Dean’s mother had given him and they all sat around it like they were back at Gryffindor Tower’s hearths, procrastinating on homework.

On nights like that they sometimes talked about Hogwarts, but most of the time they didn’t. Dean had started drawing again and he walked them through his notebooks– his sisters, caricatures of the customers he dealt with in Ollivander’s wand shop, the snarky little comics he’d always scrawled in the edges of his notes. Parvati told them about the Auror trainees’ antics, going ut on their first field missions with their mentors. “All bravado and caffeine,” she said. “Bunch of show-offs.”

“So you fit in well, then?” Dean said.

“Nah, that’s Lav,” Parvati said. Dean and Seamas glanced warily at Lavender, but she just giggled and reached for another potsticker.

Seamas was considering going back to school. “Hermione’s been badgering me about it,” he said. “Says I have a talent for pyrotechnics, and there’s a whole major for fire magics at Brinxley.”

“What about you, Lav?” said Dean. “You still thinking about vet school?”

“What?”

“Oh, uh, that’s the Muggle word. Veterinarian– a medimagizoologist?”

“The schools aren’t too interested in a werewolf as a student,” Lavender said, shrugging.

“Not that that stops Hermione from showing up on the doorstep with half-penned anti-discrimination lawsuits she wants Lav to star in,” Parvati said.

“When does she sleep?” said Dean.

Little children asked about it in the street sometimes. “Mum, why’s her face like that?” “How come she’s walking all funny?”

Sometimes their parents turned to Lavender with eager bright eyes in the grocery store line, expecting her to answer. (“I got hurt, but I’m okay now.”) Sometimes they shushed their kids and gave her little apologetic half-smiles, glancing away from the raised lines of scar tissue. Sometimes they pulled their children closer to them and crossed to the other side of the street.

Harry Potter had a godson. Teddy Lupin was four the first time Lavender met him, just outside Gringotts. Teddy clung to Harry’s pants leg, peeking past his godfather’s hanging robe. “Why’d her face do that?” he said and Harry dropped a hand down into Teddy’s hair, which was bright green.

“She’s just like your dad,” said Harry.

“Puppy,” Teddy whispered, eyes wide with joy, and his skin shifted until scars stood out stark on his smiling chubby cheeks.

Lavender bit her lip and sank down to her knees in the street, holding out a hand. “Why aren’t you handsome, chickadee. What’s your name?”

Once, Lavender had wanted everyone to look at her.

She hated stories that told you to be careful what you wished for. Were you not supposed to want things? Was that the answer? She was nearly twenty two and she could make things fly with a few whispered words. She had lived through her seventh year at Hogwarts, had stepped out into that battle with her wand out and her eyes open. She had woken up–hurting, wounds tended, poison in her veins–to Parvati sleeping on Sybil’s shoulder at her bedside.

She had cried when they told her about the lycanthropy. She had cried over her bunny because a fox had gotten to it. Both times it had been with her face buried in Parvati’s shoulder and Parvati’s hands stroking her hair. She wished and she wanted– animals that never left you, bodies that never betrayed you.

Once, Lavender had wished that everyone would look at her, and now they were. Everyone was looking– so Lavender held Parvati’s hand in the grocery store at midnight, because they had both been craving green apples. Everyone was looking– so Lavender curled her hair and pinned it up, wore tank tops and little skirts on any day hot enough that she could get away with it, laughed aloud in public spaces. Everyone was looking– so Lavender knocked on Hermione Granger’s door one evening and asked, “What would it take to get me into magical vet school?”

Hermione had her bushy hair all tied back and a quill behind each ear. “A lot. There’s some statutes we’ve got to fight, and even if we can handle that you’ll still be under intense scrutiny for years.”

“I can work with that,” said Lavender, and Hermione grinned.

When Teddy marched down the aisle with the rings, his hair was a shimmering swirl of pink and purple to match the flowers woven into Parvati’s braids and Lavender’s curls.

The honeymoon would be short–a week in magical Paris in the townhouse of a Beauxbaton girl they’d befriended fourth year. Lavender had more medical textbooks packed into her luggage than anything else. Parvati’s bags were lined with half-finished reports that she’d owl to Auror headquarters from a rumpled Parisian morning, getting croissant crumbs in the bedsheets.

But for now the hall was filled with pink and purple blooms, white candles, familiar faces. Hermione stood in a violet bridesmaid’s dress, and Dean and Seamus in matching ties at Parvati and Lavender’s respective backs. Padma was luminescent with joy over Parvati’s shoulder. She had taken Lavender aside that morning for a short quiet walk in the mist and told her, “I know tonight’s what makes it official, but I’ve thought of you as my sister for years.”

When Lavender leaned forward and kissed her wife, her father burst into proud tears in the front row. He was a crier, always had been. Lavender buried her face in Parvati’s shoulder, smiling so hard she thought she might come apart. Her scars creased and puckered in her dimples, and she was beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

So yeah maybe I ran out of questions but you ran out of answers.
where the fuck were you when i was half drowned in a bottle of whiskey just asking for a text back?
where the fuck were you when life crawled under my skin and tore itself out from the inside?
where the fuck were you when I was going through it last November and you said looking at pain this close made you uncomfortable?
where do you get off with telling me I shouldn’t talk to him and that he’s bad and he only cares about one thing when the only goddamn time you were interested in me is when my clothes were off and yours were too
look at this game we played because it never was that to me but you only just now put your cards down so you could hold her fucking hand and
i can’t be mad about it I can’t feel it in my chest like a jolt of electricity i can’t beg for you to come back when you were never even here so
yeah
maybe i ran out of questions
but only when you stopped fucking answering them.
—  so block me again we’re not even friends– lily rain

{There’s a Part Two of this right here}

“It’s, um, Peter, right?”

Peter’s head snapped up at the sound of his name. Kind of shocked to see [Y/N] standing in front of him and Ned, he lost his grip on the table. Catching himself before he fell face first into their project, he cleared his throat, “Uh, yeah, yeah, uh, that’s me. Peter….”

“Nice, dude.” Ned snickered.

Flashing his friend a dirty look, he quickly turned back towards [Y/N]. She was awkwardly standing in front of their workshop table, he could sense that she was a bit nervous. “Did you need something?” He asked with a smile.

[Y/N]’s cheeks turned a little tinge of pink, something that had never happened to Peter. He had never made a girl blush before. Looking down at her feet, she bit her lip. “Yeah, actually I do. Um, well, how do I put this.” She looked back up at Peter’s confused expression. “I’m about to fail this class.”

“No fucking way.” Ned gasped, “You’re like the smartest girl in this school.”

Peter clenched his jaw, closing his eyes. “Ned.” He warned.

Ned shrugged, “What? She is. I don’t think she’s ever failed a class. It’s just shocking, that’s all.”

Peter shook his head, giving Ned a look to shut up. Turning to face [Y/N] again, he gently raised a brow. “And you need me to?”

Taking a deep breath, she pointed to Ned, “I actually failed Spanish in middle school by the way but,” looking at Peter, she exhaled in defeat. “not trying to exploit your mechanical genius or anything but Mr. Harding said if I can come up with at least three projects that can move, speak, and think on its own, he won’t fail me and give me a passing grade.” Tucking a piece of hair behind her ear, she bit her lip. “I’ve come up with the first two…kind of, not really but the last one I can’t seem to figure out. And I was wondering if you could help….me.”

Ned’s eyes widened as he smiled. Slapping Peter on the back, he cheered out. “OF course he can!”

[Y/N] gave Ned a peculiar look, “I appreciate you speaking for Peter, Ned. But, it’s not your time that I’d be wasting. I’m completely helpless when it comes to wiring. I just don’t understand.”

Peter watched her babble on about her inability to mechanically engineer things. He couldn’t help but smile, she was kind of cute when she panicked. She was one of those girls that never talked much outside her circle of friends and seemed unbelievably shy. He could relate to her.

“I’ll do it.” Peter said, cutting off her ramble of paying him too. Shaking his head, he crossed his arms, smiling. “You don’t have to pay me. We can trade services. I help you with your project and you help me study for the History exam.”

Her eyes lit up, “Really?”

Nodding, “Yeah, definitely.”

Reaching into her totebag, she tore a piece of paper from her notebook and scribbled down her number. “You seriously have no idea how much this means to me, Peter!” Handing him her number, she gave a shy smile. “Just, uh, um, text me whenever you figure out your schedule and I’ll rearrange mine.” Backing up slowly, she started to blush again, “I should get back, my partner’s probably wondering where I am.”

Peter looked down at the number and smiled. “Yeah, I’ll text you after school.” Sticking in his pocket, he looked back down at his project.

Ned leaned in, “Dude, did that just happen?”

“Shut up, Ned.” Peter rolled his eyes.

“No seriously, did it? Because I’m pretty sure that it didn’t. [Y/N] is like the most underrated girl in our school. She’s so pretty that she doesn’t even know she’s pretty.”

Squinting his eyes, Peter looked at Ned, “What does that even mean?”

Squeezing his arm, Ned squealed out. “It means you have a chance dude.”

Peter shook his head and glanced across the room. He chuckled silently at [Y/N] desperately trying to understand what her partner was telling her. Ned had a point, she was extremely pretty and he could bet she didn’t even know her worth. Looking back down at their open wires, he shrugged, “Yeah maybe.”

“Nice.” Bumping Peter to do their little hand shake, Ned whispered. “Liz Allen who, whaaat?”

hi viria i have a problem im dealing with right now ;; in my fandom genderswaps/bends are growing ever more popular and more and more big art/fic creators are accepting and supporting them. as someone trans i've been trying to educate people on how harmful it is, but as more & more 'big' or 'popular' accounts publicly enjoy them, its harder & harder to have an audience that will listen. i used to enjoy genderswaps myself but now ive come to see how truly harmful they are. i want to keep (1/6)

trying to educate ppl but soon it will be near impossible to convey my message as almost a whole of my fandom will just come to accept them and love them so much they wont listen ;; do you have any words to say from your perspective as an artist or from any other standpoint? even just a small word would mean so much, this trend is growing more and more rapidly and stronger every time a fic or piece of art supporting it is produced ;; (2/6)

i come to you asking such a thing because there are fewer and fewer people that share the same belief as me that it is bad. the argument defending it seems very convincing to many. some trans/qenderqueer/nonbinary people find it enjoyable and comforting but those that are on the opposite spectrum - ppl like me who feel dysphoric and invalidated by it - are in the end told to deal with it and let ppl write/draw what they want and just avoid it since its a comfort to some. another argument (3/6)

is of artistic liscense: you should be able to make whatever you want and this is strengthened by the fact doing so comforts some trans/gq people. but i feel forgotten. do the people that are hurt by it not matter? i feel ashamed now when i try to put out my msg. but i just want to feel a little more normal within my fandomspace. i want to feel like i exist. yet hardly anyone will listen. it’s not longer something i and my friends can avoid and never really was, because it is harmful and (4/6)

we have a right to speak out against harmful things, yes? i am finding it harder and harder to believe it. i really just yearn to feel normal as the people that are consoled by genderswapping feel normal. i feel i should mention i do remember when you made genderswap art and were educated and apologized, i have gone through the same process myself. i hope i am not bringing up bad memories and apologize if i happen to ;; please, if you could give just a few words yourself it (5/6)

—————————————————————————————

Hello! I’m sorry, I think my askbox managed to eat the last part of your message, so it’s not entirely full! But I feel like I get enough information from these parts nonetheless.

First of all, please, please, try to not let any strangers on the internet make you feel abnormal. I feel like it must be very hard to be put in such a space, but as much as you can, please focus on the people who DO share your opinion on this. As much as it might not look like it, I am sure many people (even out of those who still do genderswaps) mean no harm, don’t yet know how hurtful it is for some other people and WILL listen to you!

I remember when people educated me over this, there were so many who thought that…how to put it. That I think very very bad of transgender people, while I, at that point, didn’t really know much about this issue. When it doesn’t happen to you, it’s not always the thing that crosses your mind. I feel like people who explain why and how this is wrong to artists, especially with their point of view, do help to fuel a thought in someone’s mind, offer them to think about it if they didn’t have the option before.

I try to be hopeful for people, I want to think that even if genderswaps are popular, there are still many empathic people who will listen to you, and who will understand how you feel.

For many it comes to a choice: whether they enjoy genderswaps enough to still draw it when they know how much it upsets some people. It was very fun to draw, but I don’t want to be the cause of someone’s distress by doing it. So… I want to think many people might share my choice.

I’d say…if you choose to explain your point of view to people who still do genderswaps, try to not make bashing someone the first thing you write them. It might cause anger and defense, and it might not lead anywhere. Back then I was “educated” in a way that made me cry my eyes out, but it’s not something everyone will be willing to go through. For me, it wasn’t people who yelled at me what a piece of crap I was, but people who really explained what they felt that made me think on this topic more. Keep in mind that there still might be people who don’t yet know your point of view. What they see - is the pictures on the internet, people do them, so they assume it’s okay. You don’t usually think “Hm, what can possibly be wrong with this picture?” about drawings you see on the internet.

As for your safe place, I think you have already done that, block all the genderswap tags to try to avoid on your dashboard. Even if there are people who stop doing them, there will most likely still be people who just started, simply because there are so so many. You don’t want to stress out because of something the stranger did from the other side of the globe.

I’m sorry if this is zero help, I know there is no way to change everyone’s opinion or to inform everyone, but please, don’t lose yourself with this. You are you and you are important, what you feel is absolutely legit and valid, remember it!

Identifying Marks

erased the ink -  An alternate path to the soulmate AU where soulmarks appear one letter at a time, and fate disagrees with Yuri.

I Caught Fire (In Your Eyes) - Once you meet the person you’re destined to be with for life, and the more you interact with them, your soulmate’s favourite thing about you starts appearing somewhere on your body, as if you were, very slowly, getting a tattoo. So, after getting reacquainted with Otabek and hearing his thoughts about Yuri’s eyes, it’s a bit of a surprise for him to see his own green orbs getting more and more defined on his chest as they continue to talk during their time in Barcelona.

Proud Like a Lion - Yuri Plisetsky does not believe in soulmates.Perhaps, however, he could believe in Otabek.

Real Love - With the sudden appearance of a soulmate tattoo, Yuri doesn’t know what to think. All he knows is that he wishes it’s his best friend.(Strangely, Otabek has the same thoughts)

Two Hands to Hold - "We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, and one incomplete heart for someone else to find.“Yeah, whatever. More like two pains in my ass and two fingers to tell you to fuck off.Yuri Plisetsky, lead singer for The Unbroken, never wanted love or a soulmate. Love makes you weak and soulmates just fuck it up for everyone involved. The bond isn’t some ‘rare treasure to cherish and behold’, it’s a fucking death sentence for your career, for your friends, for everything. Then he starts touring with Ellips and their bassist, Otabek Altin, and everything goes wrong.

write my name on your skin -  A soulmate AU where soulmarks appear one letter at a time, and when Yuri wakes up on his birthday and sees the letter O on his arm, he tries not to wish that it continues into Otabek Altin.

Жёлтый маркер -  Отабек – сторонний наблюдатель, но уж точно не любитель встречать новых людей; он убеждён, что, с большой долей вероятности, проживёт счастливо и без своего соулмейта, чьи грубые слова прожигали кожу на теле.

First Words tattoo

A Yellow Highlighter -  Too bad Otabek is a people watcher, not a people meeter, and on top of that he’s convinced he would probably live a happier life without meeting a soulmate whose first words to him are rude ones.

Call It Even - The Soulmate AU where the first words your soulmate ever says to you are written somewhere on your body.AU where Yuri is a tattoo artist and Otabek is a florist with a shop right next to Yuri’s tattoo parlor.Someone has been stealing flowers from Otabek’s garden, but when he finds out who he is shocked.

Loving words - The first words your soulmate says to you are tattooed in some part of your body on the youngest one’s 14th birthday. Otabek wakes up on a first day of March with the words “what’s with you, asshole?” tattooed on his shoulder blade.

Permanently -  The soulmate au where the first words your soulmate says to you are tattooed on your skin. Otabek can’t wait to get his but the mark is not what he expected. Neither is his soulmate.

Timers

by the nape of my neck -  Everyone has a counter that ticks down the hours until you first meet your Destined; your soul mate. Yuri Plisetsky has been actively ignoring his timer for the last eight years. That is, until it’s dwindled down to zero behind his back, and he has no idea how or when he met his Destined in the bustle of St Petersburg

Countdown -  “Why not?” Yuuri peered into the younger boy’s face with a genuinely worried expression.
“I… I don’t think I could take it,” he whispered. And he didn’t know what crazy demon overtook his body, but he lifted his left wrist for Yuuri to see, showing him the six numbers that still occasionally haunted him in his sleep.

if Aphrodite gives a shit -  A pairless human is about as rare as a unicorn, so of course Yuri is one. When his timer went off at Yakov’s summer camp, his was the only one that went zero. Cursed, people call him. Fuck off, Yuri tells them.

Misc.

A Blank Canvas -  Soulmate AU where everything you write appears on the skin of your soulmate. For Yuri Plisetsky that had never been the case.

A Perfect Person -  Having come from a broken home he dreamed that he would have a soulmate. A person who would be there for him no matter what.

Benefits -  AU where you can find both your love and friendship soulmate
AU where Beka wants to be real friend to Yuri, not just something he is destined to be
AU where Yuri doesn’t give a fuck about all that soulmate shit
It is a soulmate AU where they both ignore soulmate-ness most of the time and become best friends just because they want it
And then they become something more..

Green - There was a color he could only hear in stories, a color he had relentlessly bedeviled his parents to describe every night before he slept, a color that he was destined to never see, until he had met ‘the one’.The salient shade of green was everything that Otabek had imagined. A deafening tranquil. Otabek sought solace in this foreign hue, until he caught himself staring. The eyes of a soldier. He swore he would never fail to remember in his lifetime, even as he unwillingly tore away from the eyes he would peer into for hours on end.It dawned upon Otabek that this prodigy was meant to be his soulmate. But something was wrong.

The Theft of Winter -  There is a place far away, where Winter and Summer are eternal. Where Fae war and love in equal measure and sometimes simultaneously. This land is filled with tales, old and new, of varyingly truth and notoriety. The most beloved tale is also the most true. A tale of a Winter Prince who knew not of love and the Knight who taught him…

we were in screaming colour -  Yuri’s ten when he sees colour for the first time.

Haunting Me: Chapter 1

A/N; Eeeeek! Here it is guys, chapter 1! This story has me so pumped and i’m so happy you guys liked the intro. I hope you guys like this chappie, cuz it’s a bit of a giant relief haha. ENJOY! - Delilah ❤️

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x POC Reader

Haunting Me: Y/N is a normal young adult living in New York, but little does she know that she’s a reincarnation of the long lost Bucky Barnes’ fiance from the 1940′s. What happens when she runs into Steve in 2012? Most importantly, what happens when she runs into The Winter Soldier?

Warnings: Swearing. Slight angst. Mild violence. Hella feels.

2012

You focused on the pencil in your hand, shading the paper as carefully as possible.

New York was beautiful in the summer time, especially once the sun hit the right spot in the sky. It wasn’t a cloudy day by any chance; in fact, there wasn’t a single cloud in sight. You sat in the metal chair, your legs crossed beneath you as you focused on the sketch in front of you. You reached for the pastry on the plate next to it and took a small bite out of it, chewing slowly.

You enjoyed your time alone, as you always did, especially when you got to sketch the totally gorgeous Calvin Klein model sitting two seats down from you.

Okay, he probably wasn’t a model, but he sure as hell looked like one.  He was built like a brick house and those eyes. Jesus –you could get lost in those ocean blue orbs of his. From what it looked like, he was drawing as well. He could draw and look super-hot while doing it? He was a rare gem. However, as you cocked your head to the side, curiously studying his features, you couldn’t help but notice how sad he looked. It made your chest ache just seeing him brood like that.

“Another brownie ma’am?” the waitress asked with a smile. And by the grace of god, the total hottie looked over at you. You blushed, looking up at the waitress with a timid smile.

“Um. No thank you.” She gave you a quick nod before walking away.

When you looked back over at the mysterious blond, you expected him to give you a small smile and continue throughout his day, but boy were you wrong. You looked back over and to your surprise, he was openly staring at you, his blue eyes widened with an odd mixture of fear and shock. He blinked rapidly, his eyes focusing on your face shamelessly.

Immediately you felt so self-conscious. Was there something on your face? Did you creep him out?  Oh god, did your eyeliner smudge. You had a habit of rubbing your face whilst drawing and you did forget you were wearing makeup sometimes.

After a few minutes of being stared down by the man, you had quite enough. You hastily packed your sketch book into your bag and placed a few dollar bills onto the table before standing. You swore you could feel the burning of eyes on your back as you stealthy maneuvered around the sea of people.

Before you could take another step, you felt a tight grip on your arm stop you.

“What are you doing?” you exclaimed, turning around with a scowl. You reached in your pocket for your pepper spray.

“I-I’m sorry!” The man sputtered, his eyes softened once he peered around at the many people watching the two of you. There was a small crowd surrounding you now and you felt so embarrassed, yet relieved. He wouldn’t dare try anything in public.

You yanked your arm back, holding it in your wrist. “Why are you following me? Do I know you or something?” your last question caused him to frown. You could practically see the wheels turning in the man’s head as he chose his words carefully. He sighed heavily, before his eyes travelled down to the bag in your hand.

“I uh…noticed you drawing earlier and I wanted to say how nice your shading technique was. That’s all.”

You blinked, your eyes widening. He did all that for a damn compliment? Who was this guy?

“Thank you,” you replied, which came out more as a question. Soon, the people around you began going about their day once they realized there was no harm being done to you. Leaving the two of you standing in the middle of the busy sidewalk.

“My name is Steve,” he smiled, holding out his hand for you. “Steve Rogers.” You raised your eyebrows. That was a bit of an older fashioned name, but you weren’t complaining. Your mom tried to name you Jane once before your birth.

“I’m Y/N,” you replied, gently taking his hand and shaking it.

“Y/N Y/L/N.”

As the next couple years went by, you and Steve became two peas in a pod.

Wherever you went, he went. At first, you found it sort of creepy that your best friend was following you around town all the time, showing up at your apartment in the middle of the night when the Stark tower got too much for him and he needed a place to sleep properly. After a while, you just assumed the man was a bit lonely, which was fine by you considering you were, too.

There were times where you two would just stay up all night watching old movies from his time. His favorite was My Darling Clementine, which you had seen so many times that you now knew the entire film’s script by memory.

Soon, Steve began accompanying you on your trips to art galleries for school. It was a win/win for you as he always attracted so much attention being the hot shot Captain America he was, also, he eased the storm of anxiety that you struggled with your entire life. Steve was your wing man.

But there were some times when you felt that maybe Steve wanted to be more than friends.

You always thought of him as a brother figure, but the way he would look at you whenever he thought you weren’t noticing, it had you a bit confused. It happened when you were watching the old movies. He would look at you from out the corner of his eye, watching your reactions closely. You figured it was because he had a thing for you, which you didn’t return.

You had a couple boyfriends here and there, but nothing special. And Steve, bless his heart, had completely unapproved of them all.

But whenever you would sing along to your favorite song, Over the Rainbow by Judy Garland, you would see the look even more. You couldn’t put your finger on it, but something about that song probably caused unpleasant memories for him. You wondered why.

Another time you got The Look, was when you smoked. It was a habit, yeah, one that you’ve had for far too long. Every time you would be out and about with him -which was always- and you lit up a cigarette, he would immediately scold you until you put it out. You loved Stevie, but you were a big girl. You could make your own decisions.

You were lounging on your couch, watching old reruns of Seinfeld, when a loud banging on your front door causing you to nearly jump out of your skin. You looked over at your phone.

Five O’clock.

Steve was currently on a mission, or so you thought. Who on earth could it be?

You sighed, standing up from the couch and made your way towards the front door. You flung the door open, expecting to see Steve standing there with a box of pizza like always, but instead you got something way, way more complicated.

“W-What is going on?” you asked, eyeing the two other Avengers beside your best friend.

Steve let out a sigh, giving you a guilty smile. “These are my uh…coworkers.”

You blinked, staring at him with wide eyes. Coworkers? Really?

“May we come inside?” Natasha asked as she clutched her shoulder tightly. Her face was twisted into a grimace as she tried to cover the obvious gunshot wound in her shoulder. Your eyes widened.

“Of course!” you jumped, reaching forward and gently placing your hand on her back, and guiding her into your apartment. She let out a groan when you touched her shoulder.

“I think I’m gonna need a new shoulder.” she said.

You placed the cotton swab on Natasha’s shoulder, gently dabbing the fresh stitches you had applied. She was lucky to be alive, the bullet barely missed a major artery. A couple more centimeters and she would’ve bled out in seconds.

“So are you guys gonna tell me what the hell happened?” you asked, turning around in your chair to face Steve, who was seated on your couch, his body bruised and battered from the obvious fight.

Whoever they ran into managed to put up on hell of a fight.

“His name is The Winter Soldier,” Natasha chimed from behind you. She avoided your eyes as she spoke “He’s Hydra’s top assassin. He’s killed over a dozen elected officials and other people as well. We ran into him earlier.”

Steve continued to stare down at the floor, his face in a distant frown.

“What does that have to do with Steve? What happened?” you asked eagerly.

“We just found out that this so called Winter Soldier is actually Steve’s best friend, Bucky Barnes.”

Your eyes widened. You were so confused. Steve never mentioned anyone else in his life except for his mother and father. He always told you he was on the lonely side, but…he had a best friend apparently. An old best friend from over seventy years ago.

“Who the hell is Bucky?” you chided, furrowing your brows at Steve. How could he have not told you? You and he told each other everything.

“Bucky Barnes was considered KIA in 1942 when he fell off a locomotive during a mission to capture the evil scientist Arnim Zola.” Sam informed as he reloaded his pistol.

“And now, he’s alive. And brainwashed, completely wiped of his memories of Steve.” Natasha finished, taking a sip of the glass of orange juice you poured her a few minutes ago.

You felt your chest ache.

Why couldn’t Steve feel like he could tell you about Barnes? You guys were so much closer than the average friends.

You turned back to Steve, only to find him on the couch with his face buried in his hands. His breaths coming out in short huffs.

You made your way over to the blond, bending down until you were eye level with him. He looked so broken, yet you had no idea what he was going through. You’ve never lost anyone before. You had no idea who this Winter Soldier was, but if it meant reconnecting two old friends, you were more than wiling to help Steve.

You gently pulled Steve’s hands from his hair and brought them down, revealing his tear stained face. You smiled up at him, hope shining in your eyes.

“Whoever this Bucky guy is,” you began, looking down at your entwined hands. “He must be a special kind of man for you to go these lengths. We’ll get your friend back, Steve. If it’s the last thing we do.”

Steve felt his heart shattering even more as you spoke. Nevertheless, he offered you a false smile, hoping to distract you from the internal pain he was facing. To his relief, you bought it.

He watched as you went back to Natasha and began placing the bandages onto her wound, your face set in a concerned frown.

‘Oh, Y/N’ he thought to himself.

‘If you only knew the truth.’

I finish unpacking the last box before I’m officially moved in to my new home in Riverdale. I glance around my room, grab the last empty boxes and bounce down the stairs greeting my parents as they unpack kitchen boxes.

“This is the last of them,” I breath out placing the empty boxes on the kitchen bench. My stomach grumbles, I haven’t eaten much since the flight if you count an apple and a few crackers as food.

“Honey why don’t you go get some dinner from the diner we drove past? I heard they do excellent burgers!”

 I shrug my shoulders.

“Sure, I’ll just get my coat.”

I return to my room and pull on my jacket before grabbing some cash and head toward the diner we saw earlier. A bright red neon sign comes into vision as I edge closer “Pop's”. I wearily enter and see how packed the place is. I patiently wait in line till it’s my time to order. After ordering and giving the nice older man the money, he glances back to the kitchen hand scrambling to get orders out.

“Sorry miss it may be a longer wait,“ I shake my head.

“Oh, no, that’s fine, I’ll just sit and wait,” he smiles greatfully as I scan the diner spotting a nearly empty booth with two girls sitting opposite each other with two milkshakes. I take a deep breath and walk towards the table. Laughter is filling the air. I stop at the head of the table. Their conversation goes quiet.

“Oh, hey, can we help you?” The blonde spoke first smiling up at me.

“Hello, my names (Y/N), I was just wondering if I could sit? I just ordered and they said it’d be awhile and, well, you look the most friendly,“ I go red glancing down at my hands.

“Of course you can, I’m Betty and this is Veronica,” She greets me glancing at the raven haired girl.

“You must be new around here” she speaks and I sit down.

“Guilty, am I that obvious?” I smile and she shakes her head.

“Your accent is more of a giveaway,” I nod and mentally face palm.

“Oh, of course, I didn’t think about that. My family and I just moved here from London.” They nod.

“Wow, that’s so cool-” Veronica was cut short as the bell rang indicating there was more customers. The both glance back to see whoever was entering. I glance at my phone messaging my father to tell him I’d be longer than anticipated.

“Woah, who’s the new girl?” I look up and see two boys standing at the top of our booth, a brown headed boy & the other with red hair, both being extremely easy on the eyes.

“(Y/N),” I barely whisper clearing my throats before trying again. “I’m (Y/N) (Y/L/N).” They both smile slipping into the booth.

“Archie Andrews,” the red head speaks first, sliding in next to me flashing his bright white smile. I glance to the other boy as he climbs in next to Veronica. He laughs to himself.

“Uh, yeah, I’m Jughead Jones The Third.“ I giggle.

“Jughead Jones?” I question. His gaze snaps to mine, a smile etching onto his face.

“Just when I thought my name would never sound nice, you lil brit make me change my mind.“ I blush and glance at him through my lashes

“Take that as a compliment?” I say unsure.

“With an accent like that I could listen to you talk all day,” we stare for awhile until we’re interrupted by our friends’ laughter.

“Woah, Juggie’s got a crush on the new girl,“ Veronica squeaks squeezing his hand and bumping up against him. He rolls his eyes and adjusts his beanie picking at the plate of fries in front of him trying to avoid the gaze of his giddy friends.

“I-” I was cut short when the man from the counter wonders over with my take away bag.

“Sorry for the wait- I see you’ve encounted the scary locals.” I laugh, nodding.

“Thank you,” I smile at him, taking the bag and standing from the booth. “I hope to see you again, enjoy,” and with that he turns and walks towards the counter again.

“Well, I better get going, my parents are waiting for me to get back with tea,” I smile sheepishly as Jughead glances at me soaking up every word. They all seem disappointed, but I remind them that I’ll see them the next day at my first day of school.

“Goodbye,” I smile waving as I turn around to head to the door.

“Goodbye love,” I hear jughead yell trying his best at an English accent. I giggle and blow him a kiss before pushing on the door open and walking towards home.

when we met, i remember how my body felt drawn to you. you hadn’t even said hello and i knew exactly where you stood in a room among dozens of other people.

even when i was with friends, i remember pretending to look around; at the walls, at the clock, as if i was searching for a friend in the crowd. i feigned interest just so i could steal a glance at you.

i was sure somebody would catch on to my antics. but… it didn’t matter - i was hopelessly addicted to you, like how the movies describe falling in love at first sight.

and when we took a late night walk under the stars, and your drunken thoughts came tumbling out, wondering why i was always surrounded by others so that you couldn’t approach me, i couldn’t help but laugh.

i never realized you had been stealing glances at me, too.

—  i’m sorry but i fell in love tonight, c.j.n.

There’s A Nap For That

Based on this post: “If you both agree to take a nap instead of going out, it’s a date.”

Or: The one where Bellamy and Clarke keep taking naps together. You know, platonically. See also: Let Them Rest

A/N: I started this before New Years and thought it would be done in like, three days. Oh how naive. But hey, here we are!

Clarke doesn’t plan to be alone on New Year’s Eve, but she also doesn’t plan not to be alone–if that makes sense. She could fly back to Los Angeles and attend her mother’s extravagant corporate party, if she wanted to put herself through that. It’s definitely an option.

But she’s long since decided that it’s better to deal with the vague feelings of missing out on the New Year’s celebration over fielding questions about why she’s not following in her mother’s footsteps or, god forbid, whether she’s gotten over that whole sexuality thing yet.

So she calls Abby the night before the party, fulfills her yearly, good-daughter quota of well wishes and pleasantries, and calls it good.

And really, doing nothing on New Year’s Eve is kind of the best thing that’s happened her, stress-wise, in the last six months.

She works in the graphic design department for an uber-trendy website that facilitates commissions for freelance artists, which makes it an incredibly lucrative avenue to get her name out there in the industry. It just also happens that the company is very concerned with staying up-to-date with aesthetic trends, and has her changing logos and web layouts on a weekly basis.

It’s the kind of somewhat crappy, over demanding job that she feels weirdly excited to have, because it means her mom isn’t paying people to make her life easier.

But it has been running her to the bone, so she’s positively delighted to do absolutely nothing for a night.

Or she is until she finds out that Bellamy also doesn’t have plans for New Year’s Eve.

Pairing: FBI Agent Dean x Pharmacist Reader

Warnings: Language, Violence, Some Angst, Some Fluff

A/N: Written for @dancingalone21 ‘s funny quote challenge. My quote was: “That attitude right there. That’s why I always got the extra cookie.” Also written for @just-a-touch-of-sass-and-fandoms Shit My Patient’s Say challenge. I used a ton of quotes from that one. They’re all bolded.

A/N 2: Unbeta’d and unedited. Probably a shit ton of mistakes. My bad.

A/N 3: Most/All of the stories in here aside from being robbed (at gunpoint anyway) have happened to me in my career. More than once. Fun times.

You left your 12 and a half hour shift at the pharmacy over 30 minutes late. Some asshole had decided to wait until 9:00 to come get their prescription filled that they needed right that second. Of course, they’d had the prescription in their hand for over three weeks. Not that you could turn them down. Your district manager would surely find out and chew your ass out for it the next day.

Grabbing your bags and sliding out of your car you realized Dean wasn’t home yet either. Your husband’s Impala was nowhere to be seen. Ever since he’d taken a job as an FBI agent, he’d been working crazy hours too. The two of you barely saw each other anymore and it sucked. Sighing, you trudged into the house and dropped your stuff, kicking off your shoes. You made your way into the kitchen, grabbing all the junk food you could find and a bottle of Captain Morgan before throwing yourself in a heap on the couch.

You were mindlessly watching TV when Dean came home, discarding his jacket and tie before he lifted your legs and sat down, resting your legs in his lap. “Rough day?”

“Whatever gave you that idea?”

“The completely eaten bag of chips, the leftover ketchup on the plate where you probably had a frozen cheeseburger, oh and the uh…half drunk bottle of Captain Morgan that was totally full yesterday.” Dean pointed to the bottle in your hand and you rolled your eyes, sarcastically scoffing into the air.

“Good job, detective.

Break My Heart - Hey Violet

“I will not forget all the wonderful things you’ve done”

Hannah Baker is dead.

The words echoed through my head as I sat at my lunch table.  My friends were also in the same melancholy mood.  We couldn’t believe it, we weren’t close with her, but we all had her in our classes and we did talk to her from time to time.  She was our friend.

I looked up and made eye contact with my boyfriend Zach Dempsey, who was sitting with the popular crowd.  He looked defeated, and had bags under his eyes.  Justin Foley and Alex Standall, who were both next to him were whispering furiously to each other.

I wanted to go comfort Zach, but we decided that it would be for the best if no one knew.  Liberty High was full of assholes and sluts, people that would ruin me.

Just like they ruined Hannah.

I knew that Hannah was struggling with all the rumors that circled her like she was a piece of meat.  And that is why we keep it a secret.

Zach stood abruptly from the table, his chair making a loud screeching sound as he walked out of the cafeteria.  His friends watched him go, and I decided to follow.  Giving him a few minutes; I said bye to my friends and threw out my lunch.  The halls greeted me with the gentle touch of silence, which wrapped around me like a cloak.

Walking towards his locker, I spotted him leaning against it.  Silently I approached him.  Not wanting to scare him I waved my arm.

Zach looked vulnerable.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” I cooed softly, wrapping my tiny arms around his large frame.

“Nothing Y/N.”  He said in a gruff voice, trying to push me away.

I pulled away and tried to get him to look me in the eyes, “Is it about Hannah?”  And with that, he froze.  “Am here if you want to talk.”

“Well I don’t want to talk to you.”  I could hear the coldness in his voice as I took a few steps back.

“Zachary Dempsey, you do not speak to me like that.  I’ll go ask Clay if you won’t tell me.”  I started to walk away from him before I felt his large hand wrap around my upper arm.  “No,”

“I j-just….”  And with that he completely broke down; sobbing on my shoulder and quivering.  “Shh…”

We stayed like that until the bell rang.

And then he straightened up, put on his infamous smirk, nodded at me, and walked away.  Leaving me behind.

“Y/N, how well do you know your boyfriend?”  Clay asked me a few weeks after the incident in the hallway.  I was opening my locker and retrieving my history books.  He was the only one that knew about me and Zach.  He’s my cousin, and he found a picture of us when he was over for a family dinner.

“Why? Did something happen?”  I looked up and noticed that Clay looked out of it.  Turning around and facing the other end of the hallway, Justin was staring us down with a calculated gaze, along with Zach, who looked like he was about to walk over here.

“I think he had something to do with Hannah’s death.”  I stopped before closing my locker.  Turning to Clay, I didn’t want to believe him, but ever since the whole school found out, Zach has been more distant lately: never answering my texts or calls, purposefully ignoring me in classes, not making eye contact, or sometimes running into me “by mistake”, just so he could talk to me in school.

Zach was a great boyfriend: always treating me right.  But lately, it was like he was trying to break my heart. Looking back over at Zach and his group, I made my decision.  “Okay Clay, walk with me to my next class.”

Clay and I started to walk down the hallway towards our history class.  We were getting closer and closer to Zach and his friends, and I felt my phone buzz in my pocket.  Ignoring it, I looked straight at Zach, and then the rest of his friends.

We made it to class safely without a scratch and I sighed in relief when I noticed that we had a substitute teacher.  I sat down and then turned to Clay, “Alright cuz’, what’s going on.”

Fifty minutes and a shattered heart later, I had heard everything I needed to: Hannah was bullied, not only by Justin Foley and his group, but even by my faithful boyfriend.

When the bell rang, symbolizing the end of the day, I hurriedly grabbed my things and sprinted out of the classroom, making it to the parking lot in record time.  I could easily find Zach’s six three frame standing by his car, talking with some kids in his biology class.

I made my way through the parked cars and finally reached his.  When Zach finally noticed me he said goodbye to the other kids and made his way towards me.

“Y/N what’s wrong?”  He looked worried.

I held my hand up to stop him from coming closer, “Tell me it isn’t true Zach.”

His face paled, “Y-Y/N..”  He paused, “She’s lying.”

My eyes narrowed, “No she isn’t.  You think I’m stupid.”

Zach ran his hand through his hair, a act of nervousness.  “No, I think you’re the smartest girl in the world, and the dumbest for dating me.”

“So it is true.”

“Yes.”

He tried to take a few steps towards me, but I refused.  I was disgusted with the boy in front of me.  I always told Zach that his friends weren’t good people, but he refused to listen to me.  He told me once that he always wanted to be the popular guy with the beautiful girlfriend that he could show off to his friends.  He had all of that, except for the showing me off part.

“I don’t want to break up like this, tell me you never loved me.  Or-r that it wasn’t real and that you found somebody else.”  I whispered.

“Break my heart Zach.”

I looked up at him to find him already staring at me, with a heartbroken look on his face.  I felt a few tears slip from my watery Y/E/C eyes and I wiped them away with my sleeve.

“Y/N.”  He whispered, “I can’t-t.”

Even though he was the strongest on the court, he was the weakest when it came to me.  I was his kryptonite.  Without looking at him I straightened my backpack and slowly turned around and started to walk away.

“Goodbye Zach, I hope you have a great rest of your high school life.  I hope you got the full experience of high school.”
