we could eat some cake

3

Guess who turned 23 yesterday I did! I celebrated with a slice of cake that my best friend surprised me with the day before! Also no matter how much Mr.Odin begged he didn’t get any cake but he did get a plate of worms so he wasn’t left out of the birthday celebration too much!

Seeing Gon happy as well just brightened Killua’s mood. He’d just been worrying about what he’d do about today… but now he felt like there was no point in worrying about it. How could he worry about something silly when Gon was there to make it a good day..?

Hearing Gon’s question about wanting anything else he paused for just a moment and gave a slightly goofy grin. “I’d ask for something as sweet as you, but I don’t think there’s anything that compares to that~” Killua’s grip tightened momentarily before he relaxed it again.

Seeming to pause and consider it seriously however he hummed. “… I’ve heard usually people eat cake on their birthday… maybe we could get some…?” A small chuckle afterwards “… and… it doesn’t have to be chocolate..” He could try and compromise. After all, he knew Gon wasn’t quite as big a fan of chocolate as him. “Just so long as it’s sweet..?”

Gon opens his mouth to reply but what exactly he wants to say he isn’t sure. For a longest moment, he’s just lost for words. His face is heating up, and the sound he finally makes is a giggle. His own arms wrap around Killua, as he nuzzles into Killua’s hold.

“Mm, the way you say that… Does that mean that Killua haven’t eaten cake for your birthday before?” He hums, a smile tugging his lips upwards, because Killua! Didn’t ask for chocolate immediately. “Chocolate cake is good. I think they’re really popular too so there’s lot! I’ve seen them in so many shops. Maybe we can get those with some berries on top too.”

Happy birthday

Summary: It was pretty early somewhere in the sunny California. The ocean’s waves crashed into the rocks and birds were already singing. And life… life in Oliver’s books couldn’t get any better from this moment. Or more like the next moment, when he would be back inside the beach house they had rented for a week.

(Post-3x23. After ‘Porches and Sunsets’ but during the road trip. Oliver’s birthday.)

AN:  So here it is. I didn’t know if I would actually write anything to do with the road trip but then I got this idea and just went with it. Tell me what you think about this chapter and thanks for reading! I accept prompts [ao3] [ff.net]

Oliver was aware of the fact that he had that silly grin that Felicity had teasingly called him out on on his face while he jogged down the street, already seeing the tiny house they were hiding from the world in.

The past few days had most likely been the best days of his life since The Gambit had sunk and he still found himself wondering if it even was real. Because it felt unreal how he was finally actually living his dream, driving away from Starling City toward the unknown with Felicity. But he was so happy and he was enjoying every second of their time away from ‘the real world’.

“Honey, I’m home”, he called out jokingly when he stepped inside the house.

“In the kitchen”, Felicity called back. “Come here when you’re done showering.”

“You could always join me there, I wouldn’t mind”, he yelled over his shoulder, walking to the bathroom and stripping his sweaty clothes off before stepping under the pouring water.

(He swore that he heard Felicity say ‘Yeah, I know you wouldn’t mind at all’)
